Liam Gallagher Announces Summer 2024 Tour Where He Will Perform Oasis' Debut Album 'Definitely Maybe'
The former Oasis singer will perform the album in full in honor of its 30th anniversary
Dave J Hogan/Getty
Liam Gallagher will definitely be bringing back an old favorite.
In an Instagram post , the British singer-songwriter, 51, announced the Definitely Maybe 30 Years Tour — a small 2024 string of shows where Gallagher will perform Oasis' former band’s debut LP, Definitely Maybe .
"I'm bouncing around the house to announce the Definitely Maybe Tour. The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn't be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x," he wrote alongside a tour poster.
The tour is set to launch June 2 in Sheffield and will run through June 27, where it concludes in Manchester.
Liam will also be visiting cities including London, Dublin and Glasgow, Scotland, along the way.
In the post, he revealed that tickets for the tour will go on sale Oct. 20 on Friday, 9 a.m. BST.
Next year's tour will be the first time the "Wall of Glass" musician performed Definitely Maybe since the band split in 2009.
Definitely Maybe , which was released in 1994, solidified Oasis as one of Britpop's biggest stars, producing longtime favorite tracks like "Supersonic," "Live Forever" and "Slide Away.
At the time, it was the fastest-selling debut album in the U.K. ever, and it sold 8.5 million copies worldwide.

Though it seems unlikely Liam's brother and Oasis bandmate Noel will be joining him for any of the dates, but in May, Noel, 56, spoke with SPIN about the prospect of performing the band's debut album.
“If Liam wants to do the show, great. He’s got to make a living and all of that,” he told the outlet. “Keep the flame alive. It’s not something I particularly would be able to put my heart and soul into.”
As Liam told fans who inquired about Noel on X Tuesday, "He’s been asked and he’s refused."

In As Close To An Oasis Reunion As We’re Likely To Get, Liam Gallagher Is Celebrating The Band’s Debut With An Anniversary Tour
For years now, Oasis fans have been clamoring for the band to reunite, but given the ever-present tension between brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher , a comeback doesn’t necessarily seem likely. Perhaps the next best thing is coming soon, though: Today (October 15), Liam announced that he’s celebrating the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe , Oasis’ 1994 debut album, by taking it on tour.
The tour runs throughout June 2024 and includes shows in the UK and Ireland. Dates for the US and other countries have not been announced. Gallagher says he’s performing the album in full, along with “select B-sides from the era.”
It doesn’t appear that Noel will be involved with the tour, but as The Guardian notes , co-founding Oasis member Paul Arthurs (also known as Bonehead) will likely join, as he tours as part of Liam’s band.

In 2014, to mark the 20th anniversary of Definitely Maybe , Louder wrote: “One of the defining documents of the decade, the Manchester quintet’s ferociously optimistic and thrillingly self-possessed debut album is a snapshot of what it means to be young, fearless and fiercely convinced of one’s own capacity to transcend the mundane and mediocre.”
As luck would have it, just in time for the album’s 30th anniversary, a host of early Oasis recordings, long feared lost, were uncovered earlier this year in the Sony vaults. “We thought they were lost, but they were mislabelled,” Noel Gallagher explained. “They are wonderful versions of those songs, some acoustic versions.”
Tracks expected to be included on the forthcoming 30th anniversary re-release will include "wonderful" versions of singles Live Forever and Supersonic , plus fan favourite Slide Away .

Liam Gallagher Makes Good on Promise of Revisiting Oasis’ ‘Definitely Maybe’ for 30th Anniversary Tour
While we may not be getting an Oasis reunion in 2024, Liam Gallagher has made good on his promise to revisit the band's Definitely Maybe album on dates celebrating the band's breakout record's 30th anniversary.
Back in May, Gallagher first announced his intent to celebrate the historic album anniversary for fans, noting in a tweet, "As it’s 30 years since DM was released nxt year I’m gonna be playing the album from start to finish in it’s original order at a few BIBLICAL venues." When one fan noted, "Can’t do this without Noel, so the comeback has got to be on," Liam responded, "Watch me." Another asked if this would be acoustic or how the material was originally performed, with Liam stating as it was originally performed. The singer also noted B-sides would be included, singling out the song "Cloudburst."
Now Gallagher has made good on his comments, revealing a 12-date tour of the U.K. and Ireland
“I’m bouncing around the house to announce the ‘Definitely Maybe’ Tour,” said Gallagher in a statement. “The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together.
The trek kicks off in Sheffield on June 2, wrapping on June 27 in Manchester. Dates can be viewed at the bottom of this post, while tickets will go on sale this Friday (Oct. 20) at this location .
READ MORE: Why Noel Gallagher Won't Be Revisiting 'Definitely Maybe'
Definitely Maybe put Oasis on the map with its release on Aug. 29, 1994. Led by the singles "Supersonic" and "Live Forever," the band became an instant sensation, garnering widespread critical acclaim and commercial success. Other cuts such as "Rock 'n' Roll Star," "Cigarettes and Alcohol," "Shakermaker" and "Slide Away" became fan favorites as well. The album was certified platinum in the U.S., but really racked up the numbers in their native U.K. where it's gone on to reach eight times platinum status.
Will more dates follow? Stay tuned.

Liam Gallagher and John Squire Bring ‘I’m a Wheel’ to ‘The Tonight Show’
By Larisha Paul
Larisha Paul
The recently-formed duo of Liam Gallagher and John Squire are in New York this week for their first and only show in North America on their tour, a headlining gig at Brooklyn Paramount on April 11. But before they take over a stage of their own, the pair are warming up with a late-night performance of their latest single, “I’m a Wheel,” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon .
“This isn’t happening / Nothing is real / When you murder the truth / How do you feel? / This isn’t happening / Lock all the doors / These aren’t the droids you’re looking for,” Gallagher sings on the record, backed here by a three-piece band. The song appears on the duo’s aptly titled debut album, Liam Gallagher John Squire . The album arrived on March 1 with the former Oasis member helming vocals across the album while Squire, of the Stone Roses, serves as lead guitarist and songwriter.

Manchester music titans Liam Gallagher and John Squire are to continue their collaboration with a full album and tour together, it has been announced today. Former Oasis star Liam and Stone Roses legend John revealed their first single earlier this year.
But that will now be followed by a joint album and a tour across the UK, Europe and New York in March and April. It will include two huge homecoming nights at Manchester Apollo.
Demand for tickets is set to be huge given the fanbase of both stars. The newly united duo released debut track Just Another Rainbow earlier this month which raced up the charts.

The news that Manchester icons Liam and Johh were collaborating on a new project ignited a wave of anticipation – uniting the personality and attitude of the Oasis frontman’s vocals with the remarkable guitar talents of The Stone Roses’ creative force.
Now their self-titled debut album will be released on March 1 and is today launched alongside its second single, Mars To Liverpool. They also announced details of their first UK tour together, as well as select shows in Ireland, France, Germany, Italy and the USA.
Liam says: "I can't wait for people to hear the album. I think the people that are into the Stone Roses and Oasis and that kinda thing, I think they'll f***ing love it. It's spiritual, it's crucial. LG x"
John adds: "It was really inspiring to have those Knebworth gigs fresh in my mind as I started writing. Then it was a case of trying to steer it away from all being too rocky, and trying to mix up the sentiments as well.
"I like the way that in some parts, it's quite melancholic and it can make you well up, but there are other parts that are kind of irreverent, rude or crude. There's a little bit of everything in there, I think it's a really good mix.
"I had a hunch that we’d sound good together, but I wasn’t prepared for it to be such a good fit."
Long-terms friends with a mutual admiration for each other’s work, the idea of a collaboration started when John joined Liam on-stage at his "biblical" Knebworth shows. Song ideas were soon flowing, and the album took shape in Los Angeles with the revered producer Greg Kurstin. He played bass throughout the record, while drums were performed by Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M., Atoms For Peace).
The album is now available to pre-order here . Physical formats include standard CD and vinyl, a Deluxe split-colour vinyl, a white vinyl stocked by HMV and select indie stores, and an Amazon exclusive orange EcoRecord vinyl.
How to get tour tickets
Fans who pre-order the album from the official store by 3pm on Tuesday, January 30 will receive access to a pre-sale for tour tickets which you can access here . The pre-sale will open at 9:30am on Wednesday, January 31 before any remaining tickets go on general sale from 9:30am on Friday, February 2 nd .
The tour will see Liam and John lead a band completed by Barrie Cadogan (Little Barrie, Paul Weller) on bass and Joey Waronker on drums. Jake Bugg will appear as special guest on all shows except Brooklyn. The dates are:

The sets will of course be packed with classics – ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’ , ‘Live Forever’ , ‘Supersonic’ and ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ , to name but a few. “C’mon”: Liam Gallagher shares footage of son Gene’s band Villanelle, after denying claims of nepotism ahead of support tour
Gallagher said Gene’s “hero” was Kurt Cobain, and revealed other son Lennon’s band Automotion were also asked to support but “politely refused”
Liam Gallagher has shared footage of his son’s band, after denying claims of nepotism and announcing the band as the support for his upcoming tour.
- READ MORE: Liam Gallagher and John Squire on their long-awaited collaboration: “After all the dust settles, it’s 10 great songs”
The update was shared on the former Oasis frontman’s X/Twitter page last night (April 14), and comes following the announcement that his son Gene’s band – called Villanelle – will be the support act for the ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary tour .
He previously said that he thought that the band were “good” and added: “I’m gonna put them on first for [the ‘Definitely Maybe’] tour”. Villanelle will join Cast and The View as support acts on the upcoming dates .
Now, following what seems to be some mixed responses to the announcement, Gallagher has hit back at accusations of nepotism, and shared footage of the band performing live to explain why they were chosen.
Posted last night, the video appears to be screen-recorded footage of the band playing during a live show, which they originally shared on their Instagram Stories, and comes with the simple caption: ‘Cmon’.
Cmon pic.twitter.com/iWIJ8vklH7 — Liam Gallagher (@liamgallagher) April 14, 2024
Whilst they currently don’t have any official music out, Villanelle have recently been spotted supporting Brummie rockers Overpass on tour – presumably where the footage was captured. Most notably, they performed at King Tut’s in Glasgow on March 21, which is the same location where Oasis were signed to Creation in an infamous debacle .
Recommended
As for their sound, Villanelle seem to harness a similar Britpop influence as seen in Oasis, although also take on inspiration from the ‘90s grunge scene. This was emphasised by Liam himself, who responded to someone saying that they were “getting Kurt Cobain vibes” from Gene’s on-stage outfit, saying “That’s his hero”.

According to another recent update, Liam’s other son, Lennon, was asked if his band Automotion wanted to join the upcoming 30th anniversary ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour, but “politely refused”.

Previously, Gene launched a three-piece band called Grimmo in 2018 and Liam described his music as “in your face, Arctic Monkeys style”, compared to his brother Lennon, whose music was more “spaced out, like early Verve, pretty chilled”.
He also performed with his dad in 2019 on Later… with Jools Holland , and was also seen recording some bongos on the track ‘One Of Us’ on the album ‘ Why Me? Why Not ‘.
Earlier this month, Liam again defended his decision to have Villanelle join him on tour, writing online: “I’ve given many opportunities to many young bands over the years it’s what you do if you can now it’s VILLANELLES turn if you don’t like it FUCKOFF”.
He also told a fan that the harsh words were him “putting a few mouthy c***s in [their] place”, and denied accusations of nepotism by saying: “Is it fuck he’s my son it’s what you do”.

Reverend & The Makers also backed Liam in the decision shortly afterwards too, adding how both “Liam and Noel gave us a chance when they didn’t have to”, and adding that “Anybody giving him shit for putting his lad on needs to do one. Anyone would do the same surely”

Liam will be embarking on his 30th anniversary ‘Definitely Maybe’ tour in June, which will kick off in Sheffield. He is due to perform the entirety of Oasis’ seminal album along with some “naughty” B-sides . Get any remaining tickets here .
As for his other son, Lennon, Automotion recently released their new track ‘Liquify’ produced by The Horrors ‘ Faris Badwan and inspired by old-school jungle tracks. Automotion released their debut EP ‘In Motion’ back in 2021, and their second EP ‘Ecstatic Oscillations’ in 2022.
Most lately though, the band shared a new single called ‘Lost In The Spinal Labyrinth, and confirmed that it will appear on the group’s upcoming EP ‘Dissolve’ – due for release on June 19.

Liam Gallagher on Blur's Song 2: "I could write that standing on my head"
12 April 2024, 11:24 | Updated: 18 April 2024, 15:27
By Jenny Mensah
The former Oasis frontman has responded to a video clip of Damon Albarn discussing the track.

Liam Gallagher has mocked Blur's Song 2 single, suggesting it's rubbish.
The former Oasis frontman replied to a clip of his former Briptop rival Damon Albarn discussing how several people in the States have tried to claim songwriting credits to the 90s anthem.
Sharing his take on the video, the Manchester rocker wrote: "Gotta be of your box to claim to have written that song absolute TURDOS".

When a fan opined that it was better than anything the Manchester legend has written, he replied: "I could write that standing on my head you sp**kbubble".

He then added: "It’s music for posh brats".

However it wasn't all negative criticism, as Liam had some praise for an album track from the Britpop band's 1991 Leisure album.
Quizzed what Blur song he would have liked to have written, he replied: "Sing".

It's not the first time Liam has been vocal on Twitter this month, recently responding to former bandmate Andy Bell's comments about an Oasis reunion.
The Ride co-founder - who played guitar in Oasis from 1999 - 2005 and was in Gallagher's next project, Beady Eye until its dissolution in 2014 - recently gave an interview, where he said he thought the Britpop band would "probably" reunite "at some point".
However, taking to Twitter, Gallagher suggested the musician shouldn't be getting fans "hopes up".

When a fan pointed out that the guitarist was simply doing what Liam has himself done in the past, he responded: "I’ve never mentioned oasis reunion it’s over we must all really move in for our own mental health".

Meet the diehard music fan who runs one of the world's busiest arenas
- London's O2 Arena is one of the world's busiest and sold a record 2.5 million tickets last year.
- The venue is managed by Steve Sayer, a music fan who previously worked for Manchester City.
- The O2 Arena presents comedy, boxing, UFC, esports and even monster trucks as well as music.
It may not be the world's most famous, but London's O2 Arena is now one of the busiest.
The venue, part of what began life as the Millennium Dome but was renamed The O2 following its sponsorship by a cell network, sold a record 2.5 million tickets last year — about 200,000 more than in 2022 — according to AEG.
That puts it in the same league as New York's Madison Square Garden, which first opened in 1879. Its London rival has only been oeprating since June 2007.
The O2 Arena has sold more than 30 million tickets since then, and in December notched up its 3,000th event: a concert by Tom Jones. The Welsh singer is known for songs such as "It's Not Unusual," and "Thunderball," which Business Insider once ranked as the 23rd best James Bond theme song (out of, erm, 25).
The arena is run by Steve Sayer, who joined AEG Europe a decade ago as commercial director before becoming general manager five years later. We meet in the windowless depths of the arena in the area behind the stage one chilly afternoon in March, just a couple of hours before a Jason Derulo concert.
Sayer says the O2 is one of those venues that "artists really want to play" because headlining it marks what he calls an "arrival moment" in their careers. Some 24 acts including SZA and Ateez headlined the arena for the first time last year, with a similar number including Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan doing so this year.
Prince played an epic run of 21 sold-out dates in the summer of 2007, while Sayer also cites Madonna's six shows last year, along with runs from the likes of Elton John, Monty Python, Adele, and the Spice Girls as some of the venue's most memorable.
The O2 hosts about 220 shows a year, and Sayer is ultimately responsible for some 190 full-time staff, and as many as 700 on event days. While "it has its stresses from time to time, like any senior role — it's pretty full-on," he maintains that running the O2 is an enjoyable job.
Creating a good workplace culture is very important for Sayer, but so is "having fun along the way. I like to use that world thrive — I want people here to have a great experience as an employee, have opportunities to learn and develop and grow."
He describes music as his main passion, having grown up with two brothers who played a lot of records, and then started going to gigs and festivals as a teenager, discovering dance music and "the rest is history really."

Sayer, 49, says he decided to go to university in Manchester because of its music scene. After graduating with a geography degree he started working for the soccer club Manchester City, staying for 17 years and ending up as operations director overseeing match days and major events.
Sayer says he and his team have considerable autonomy to run the O2 Arena — the biggest business unit of AEG Europe — as they see fit. It was crowned "venue of the decade" by Billboard magazine in 2019, which suggests they're getting it right.
The division also operates arenas in Paris, Berlin, and Hamburg, as well as music festivals, tours, and other events. It's part of AEG, which was founded by Philip Anschutz and has become one of the world's biggest sports and live entertainment businesses.
While music accounts for about two-thirds of its shows, the arena also hosts everything from comedy to sport in the form of WWE, UFC, boxing, darts, and tennis; esports such as this November's League of Legends world championships; family and podcast shows — and even monster trucks.
The arena was closed for 18 months in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic and Sayer says there was some doubt about whether demand for live entertainment would return, but those fears proved unfounded.
He rates the first post-pandemic show by Gorillaz — one of Sayer's favorite acts — as his top gig ever at the arena. It was a thank-you for staff in the UK's National Health Service — "the atmosphere was unbelievable that night." His other top acts are Leftfield, New Order, and The Killers.
Even before COVID-19 struck there'd been a growth in the "experience economy," and Sayer says that's even more the case now, with very buoyant demand for live performances in stadiums and festivals as well as arenas like his.
Something else that seems to keep rising is ticket prices. Sayer agrees that the cost of seeing some top-end superstars has escalated, but supply and demand is a factor along with higher costs for touring and production.
He says prices for some tickets for Madonna's Celebration tour last year were high, but that the production values for the show were "incredible." (This writer forked out a three-figure sum to see it, and apart from a late arrival meaning an abrupt early end when the 11pm curfew struck, I'm inclined to agree.)
AEG is improving the arena by adding 5G coverage, "frictionless" food and drink outlets, and refurbishing performers' dressing rooms.
It's also replaced 12 corporate boxes with The NinetyThird by Qatar Airways — a private members' club that costs about $20,000 a year and boasts a retractable walkway over the arena for a "wow" factor.
Sayer says this year is proving just as busy as 2023 for the O2 Arena with shows coming up from Take That, Olivia Rodrigo, Liam Gallagher, Girls Aloud, and The Killers.
One record that the London venue may not be able to break any time soon, however, is Billy Joel's decade-long residency at Madison Square Garden. The Piano Man is due to perform at the venue for the 150th time in July.
