Performing from the age of 15 and inspired by jazz, funk and R&B, the technical wizard and electronic artist Jimmy Edgar has slowly experimented with various sounds and continually pushing boundaries. With an abundance of ideas and droves of creativity combined with his innate ability to learn various instruments, it wasn’t long before Edgar began playing in local Detroit raves and strip clubs, gaining lots of exposure and created a buzz. At the age of 18 he was signed to Warp Records and taking his music from the underground soon spent the next few years touring relentlessly across the world perfecting his live experience. His unique approach to transforming sound and incorporating peripheral influences has been met with great success and acclaim. With Edgar it’s all about the experience and the expression which the music creates. Through employing multi-sensory through use of colour vibrations and incredible visuals he takes audiences on a journey. With his dynamic stage presence and an incredible ear, Edgar has full control of the room as the crowd as he builds them up as they dance around the room, feeling the motion and rhythm pulsate through them. The overall experience which Edgar provides is intense and incredible, making it simply unforgettable.

Jimmy Fallon scares Prince Harry with Tonightmares haunted maze experience: 'You're afraid of pandas!'

"No, I'm not!"

Jimmy Fallon seems to be a funny guy, but The Tonight Show host has a spooky side, too, as Prince Harry found out firsthand when he braved Fallon's new Tonightmares haunted maze experience in a video shared Thursday.

The terrifying attraction, located in New York City's Rockefeller Center, sent Harry screaming, like that time when he saw something creeping and innocently asked, "Is that a panda?" Before the figure he had been eyeing made a quick move.

"You're afraid of pandas!" Fallon accused his guest. "No, I'm not!" Prince Harry insisted. Both were screaming — and panicking.

Harry really jumped when a man who appeared to be a ghoul appeared out of the darkness holding a lead pipe.

At one point, the two saw a bloody man that made Harry ask jokingly, "Is that Michael Bublé ?"

Fallon agree and told the character, "You do a great job on The Voice ," the NBC singing competition that Bublé joined as a judge this year.

After a scary scene set at a dental office, the video shows the haunted maze actors freaking out — mouths open and hands fanning the face — that they had just seen Prince Harry.

There was one final heart-pounding moment at the end, as a character popped up when the guys were taking a photo.

Prince Harry reacted as if he were going to punch someone, before he smiled.

At the beginning of their adventure, Fallon had asked Harry if he were easily scared, to which he had accurately predicted there would be trouble: "Not normally, but today might be different," he said.

In a breakout year highlighted by two EPs and an exhaustive global tour, the most significant shift in techno wizard Jimmy Edgar’s life was the launch of his new enterprise, Ultramajic. Part record label, design house, and metaphysical portal, Ultramajic (created in 2013 and managed by Edgar and creative partner Pilar Zeta), alchemically melds music, design, objects, and installations into a holistic multi-sensory experience. “We are exploring ideas about musical shamanism, digital altars, and meditation through color and vibration,” Edgar entices. Edgar’s fascination with other worlds has never been a secret and Ultramajic marks a milestone in Edgar’s independence as an artist and his emergence as an impresario. “Ultramajic is simply our venture to solidify what we do. The art of collaboration has been lost. In the ‘Age of the Internet,’ we have seen artists become pioneers unto themselves due to lack of communication, and I intend to bridge a bit of that gap with Ultramajic.” In addition to Edgar’s own EPs Hot Inside and Mercurio, in 2013 Ultramajic released singles by ghetto dub artist Aden (a Panorama Bar favorite) and Creepy Autograph (one of Edgar’s many side projects). Looking forward, Ultramajic projects and releases scheduled for 2014 include the highly anticipated Silicone EP by Berlin-via-Miami bass producer Danny Daze. Marked by a harder, more staccato rhythm, Daze’s Silicone EP (out February 17th), echoes Edgar’s own shift from the festive futuristic booty bass on XXX to the more abstract, jackin’ tech-house on Mercurio and hints at Ultramajic’s deeper direction. Also this year, Ultramajic is releasing new material by the enigmatic, androgynously-named SOPHIE who had media and discos buzzing in 2013 with an expansive sonic palette ranging from the effervescent electro-house jam “Nothing More to Say” to the bit-chip bumper “Elle”. Tying projects back to Edgar’s Motor City roots, Ultramajic is also tapping into the Detroit/Atlanta connection. “We are developing a brand new sound with several vocalists there,” he says. “Detroit and Atlanta are cities rich with talent in R&B and Hip Hop, and we have always considered R&B the core of our music.” Further exploring the connection between sound and the metaphysical, Ultramajic will also continue the Metaphysix series, a collection of art and music inspired by the Seven Hermetic Principles of the Universe. The first EP explored the concept of Mentalism. In the same spirit, Edgar and Zeta will unveil a series of internet-sourced and 3D-printed arcana. “They are basically meditation cards done in black and neon, both physical and digital. They’re meant to simulate the unconscious from the philosophy of the Egyptian Emerald Tablet and ‘The Law of One’ book,” Edgar says, citing two of the many enduring esoteric influences on his life, music, and art. Born in Detroit in 1983, Edgar learned piano in black churches as a kid and DJing among Detroit’s hometown heroes as a teen. Under various personas (including Kristuit Salu vs Morris Nightingale, and Michaux), Edgar spent his late teens and early 20s experimenting with strains of Techno, G-Funk, House, Electro, Bass Music, and even his own “software virus as music”. By age 18, the multi-instrumentalist fond of fiddling with tape loops and found sound was signed to Warp where he eventually released 2004’s Access Rhythm, 2005’s Bounce Make Model, and 2006’s breakthrough Color Strip, notable for its use of custom-built gear and its agnostic synthesis of Midwest funk, West Coast hip hop and European electro. Other labels Edgar has called home include Poker Flat, who released his 2002 single “We Like You”; K7! who released 2010’s XXX EP, featuring floor-fillers “Hot Raw Sex” and “Turn You Inside Out”; and Scuba’s Hotflush imprint who released 2012’s Majenta EP that included the “Art of Noise meets Timbaland” track “In Deep”, and the “Prince meets Frankie Knuckles” burner “This One’s for the Children”. In fundamental ways Majenta heralded an evolution in Jimmy’s sound, leaning more esoteric than erotic, foreshadowing sonic and conceptual changes expressed vividly on Mercurio. Without losing its austere futuristic edge, Edgar’s body music evolved from raunchy, raucous bass into sublime, viscous, funk, dense with ricocheting vocal samples, shuffling beats, and manic synths jabs. Similarly, the artwork for Majenta, “Sex Drive”, and “This One’s for the Children” highlighted Edgar’s esthetic, reminiscent of 1980s science and paranormal magazine Omni covers. “I wanted to develop a new style of airbrushing to convey a metaphysical, otherworldly, yet familiar and subliminal feeling.” Transcendence has long been a vital force in Edgar’s life, guiding his ascent in music and art as he maneuvered between cities, relationships, and mediums. Prince Harry looked genuinely spooked during a Halloween experience with Jimmy Fallon .

The Duke of Sussex toured the Tonightmares haunted maze in New York City during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon .

Fallon started the experience by asking Harry if he was easily scared. “Not normally, but today might be different,” the British royal responded.

By the end of the tour, Prince Harry was screaming and threatening to punch a resident ghoul, much to Fallon’s amusement. “My thanks to Prince Harry,” he laughed.

About Jimmy Edgar

Jimmy Edgar is a Detroit based producer and musician. He first started producing music in 2000 and released his debut album Color Strip from Warp Records in 2004. He has collaborated with several renowned electronic music producers and labels including, !K7, Hotflush, Satoshi Tomiie, Scion, Cocoon Recordings and Ghostly International. His own record label Ultramajic was established in 2012 with Travis ‘Machinedrum’ Stewart and serves as an outlet to share his genre-bending sound, combining elements of techno, hip hop, funk, house, jazz, R&B and soul. His latest release, 112358.13 is a 4 part album centred around the Fibonacci Sequence.
