If you’re a senior golfer, you can generally make this assumption: Your swing speed is probably not at an all-time high. Or if you just started playing as a senior, it’s probably not all that fast.

I’m a senior player myself, and after 35-plus years of playing golf, I can admit my swing speed isn’t what it used to be. Fortunately, I’ve been writing about golf equipment long enough to understand how to choose clubs that will help my game, and avoid the equipment that will hurt it. Based on my experience, these are the eight best drivers for seniors to consider in 2024.

Sure, some senior players can still move it out there, but even those players probably hit it longer when they were younger. The good news? Some drivers are better suited for the majority of senior players, and there are certainly some characteristics that seniors should look for in a driver.

One of those is loft. In general, more loft is better, and if the driver can be configured into a draw configuration, that often results in more distance as well.

As far as head design goes, if your swing speed is low, consider a driver that produces a little more backspin, which keeps the ball in the air longer.

For this article, we are primarily looking at head design, but you should consider shaft selection as well. A lighter shaft that’s more flexible and has a lower kick point can help you get the ball in the air easier, which is often best for us seniors.

With all that said, let’s take a look at the best drivers on the market today for senior players.

PING G430 SFT

PGA TOUR SUPERSTORE 2ND SWING Typical Price: $550 Lofts:  10.5 Adjustability:  Hosel, Weight

If you have trouble drawing the ball, the PING G430 SFT is a good option for you. Afterall, SFT stands for Straight Flight Technology, because this driver is designed to straighten out the predominant miss, a slice.

If you have trouble getting a lot of swing speed, you can get this club set with the HL (high launch) build to enhance your distance. The combination of both should be a great formula for seniors.

The G430 SFT has a center-of-gravity-shifting backweight that can be moved into a draw and even a draw + setting that PING says can provide up 20 yards of right-to-left (for right-handers) correction, which means more fairways and more distance for those who tend to slice.

It’s available in a 10.5 degree loft only. In the HL setup, the backweights are lighter in the head, and the club comes with a 46-inch Ping Alta Quick shaft and a lighter grip to promote more speed. PING claims in testing, slower swing-speed players gained an average of nine yards with this setup.

XXIO 13 Driver

SHOP XXIO 2ND SWING Typical Price: $700 Lofts:  9.5, 10.5, 11.5 Adjustability:  None

This new driver from XXIO, which retails for $700, is specifically designed to get the most out of moderate swing speeds, and it has several characteristics to help achieve that. Chief among them is that this club is lightweight.

The XXIO 13 has something it calls an “Activwing,” which is an airfoil designed to better stabilize the clubface during the downswing, which is supposed to guide the clubface into the optimal position to find the sweet spot.  It also has a Biflex face, which means the toe’s edge is stretched and rounded, while the heel is narrow. A rebound frame uses alternating layers of stiff and flexible zones. That’s combined with a flat cup face, which has a larger thinner portion in the center, to increase COR (coefficient of restitution).

Finally, there’s mass in the butt end of the shaft, which is supposed to make it easier to release in the downswing.

Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D

  • DESCRIPTION Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max D Driver

FIND ON AMAZON GOLF GALAXY Typical Price: $ 600 Lofts:  9.0, 10.5, 12.0 Adjustability:  Hosel

Callaway wanted to make a driver with sweet spots all over the club face, so it used Artificial intelligence to develop and build its Paradym Ai Smoke drivers. Translation: This driver is extremely forgiving, and the Max D might be the most forgiving version of them all, especially for seniors who are trying to squeeze out a little more distance and hit a few more fairways.

The Max D driver is built with high MOI, and has a stretched profile at address. It comes in lofts of 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees, the last of which would really help players with swing speeds of 90 mph or less because it helps launch the ball higher.

I tried the 10.5 with a 55 gram Mitsubishi Blue stock shaft and enjoyed really good results. Using a launch monitor, my shortest drive of around 30-plus shots was 249 yards and my longest was 272 yards with an average of just over 260 yards.

The shot dispersion was fairly tight as well, and I definitely hit some on the heel and the toe – just to make sure I tested all the sweet spots. As a senior player with swing speeds between 94 mph and 98 mph, I’ll take that all day long.

Titleist TSR1 driver

Titleist TSR1 Driver

  • DESCRIPTION Titleist TSR1 Driver

GOLF GALAXY 2ND SWING Typical Price: $450 Lofts:  9.0, 10.0, 12.0 Adjustability:  Hosel

When it comes to helping players with moderate swing speeds, which is what most seniors have, light translates into might. That’s why the Titleist TSR1 driver can help you get the most out of your drives. The TSR1 is engineered for swing speeds of 90 mph or less and has enhanced aerodynamics and a deep center of gravity to help launch the ball.

The overall weight of the TSR1 driver is about 40 grams lighter than Titleist’s TSR2, thanks to a lighter head, shaft options that are 40 grams, and a light grip. Multi-Plateau Variable Face Thickness technology, which is in all the TSR driver models, makes these drivers very forgiving on off-center hits.

Tour Edge Hot Launch E524

Tour Edge Hot Launch E524 Driver

  • DESCRIPTION Tour Edge Hot Launch E524 Driver

FIND ON AMAZON GOLF GALAXY Typical Price: $250 Lofts:  10.5, 12.0 Adjustability:  None

Considering how many PGA Tour Champions players Tour Edge has on its professional staff, it should come as no surprise that its most forgiving driver is on this list. New for 2024 is the Hot Launch E524 Driver, which is designed for moderate to slow swing speeds.

The Hot Launch E524 (the “E” stands for extreme) has a slew of features that help with ball speed and forgiveness. A very low and deep center of gravity combined with a “Houdini Sole” help to launch the ball. Tour Edge’s Houdini Sole combines extra weight in the back of the sole with a curved leading edge under the face, which helps create that low and deep CG and results in better launch conditions.

The E524 also borrows the Ridgeback Tech concept from Tour Edge Exotics. It consists of a Ridgeback Rail on the crown, which also helps in alignment. Because there’s so much weight in the back end of the clubhead, the E524 has a high MOI. Plus, more weight in the heel encourages a draw.

Tour Edge’s Diamond Face VFT technology, which features 36 different thick and thin diamond shapes on the face, is designed to provide a trampoline effect. It’s available in lofts ranging from 10.5 degrees to the High Launch 15 degrees.

Cobra Darkspeed Max

Cobra Darkspeed Max Driver

  • DESCRIPTION Cobra Darkspeed Max Driver

FIND ON AMAZON Golf Galaxy Typical Price: $550 Lofts:  9.0, 10.5, 12.0 Adjustability:  Hosel, Weight

The fastest driver Cobra has ever built, the Darkspeed Max is also its most forgiving. Plus, with this adjustable head, you can position the weight in the rear and near the heel to create a draw bias that should help many players find the fairway and get a little more distance.

In addition, the Darkspeed Max has a 10 percent larger PWRSHELL L-Cup face combined with an updated H.O.T. (Highly Optimized Topology) Face design and a lower and more forward positioning of the suspended PWR-BRIDGE, all designed to increase distance.

I tested this driver at the PGA Merchandise Show in January, and while I personally didn’t find it to be appreciably longer than most other drivers I hit, it was super forgiving and straight.

Cleveland Launcher XL2 Draw

Cleveland Launcher XL2 Draw

  • SOURCE Amazon
  • PERMISSION Permission given by Amazon

FIND ON AMAZON 2ND SWING Typical Price: $350 Lofts:  9.0, 10.5 Adjustability:  Hosel

The adjustable Launcher XL2 Draw is a great choice for seniors for several reasons. Not the least of which are its draw characteristics, which help turn slices into straighter shots, which almost always equates to more distance.

One aspect that makes this driver unique is the claim that it has a face that can flex twice. This Rebound Frame creates a “second ring of flexibility that sits right behind the face, supported by extra stiffness in the rear of the clubhead.”

The translation of this Rebound Frame combined with a variable thickness face design is more distance, of course.

There is also a counterweight in the shaft at the top of the grip designed to make the club feel lighter and promote a squarer club at impact. It comes in lofts of 9, 10.5 and 12 degrees.

TaylorMade Qi10 Max HL

TaylorMade Qi10 Max DRIVER

  • DESCRIPTION TaylorMade Qi10 Max Driver

SHOP TAYLORMADE GOLF GALAXY Typical Price: $600 Lofts:  9.0, 10.5, 12.0 Adjustability:  Hosel

You might be thinking the “HL” in the name of the TaylorMade Qi10 Max HL stands for “high launch,” but you would only be half right. It actually stands for “high and light,” which are important elements for seniors who need to get the ball up in the air with an easy-to-swing driver that feels light and will help maximize clubhead speed.

The HL features an ultralight component package designed to launch the ball higher and produce more carry distance for players with moderate swing speeds.

The regular Max is pretty easy to launch as it is, and it’s mighty forgiving, thanks in large part to the 10,000 units of MOI, which is referenced in the name. That means the sweet spot is at least twice as large as it used to be on TaylorMade drivers. Based on my experience testing the Max, it’s safe to say you can get away with using the whole face and still get good results.

History of TaylorMade Drivers Through the Years

The Bottom Line

If you’re considering an investment in a new driver (no small investment), a professional clubfitting is the best way to ensure you find the best head-and-shaft combination for your needs. The best way to know which driver is right for you is to demo them, if possible. While a super light driver might be right for some seniors, it might not be the answer for you.

On the other hand, many of these configurations not only make up for some lost clubhead speed, but they are less taxing as well, which can make the game that much more enjoyable.

Many of the drivers on this list are $500 or more. The Cleveland Launcher XL and Tour Edge E524 are exceptions, priced in the $350 range, so they are definitely worth checking out.

Remember, when clubhead speed decreases, loft is your friend. Don’t be afraid to try a 12-degree or higher driver (which comes under the category of the old 2-woods). If your clubhead speed is less than 90 mph, you don’t want the low spin characteristics that the stronger players are looking for. A little spin will keep that ball in the air longer, and if you add some draw to it, you can get as much out of your drives as possible.

The best driver for a senior’s swing speed accelerates on the downswing, maximizes energy transfer, and springs the ball off the clubface for optimal distance.

In this guide, I reveal the top 10 best drivers for senior golfers to increase your distance off the tee and land on more fairways. By the end of this post, you’ll know the best driver for ladies and high, mid, and low-handicapper men.In addition, I reveal the best overall pick and options for golfers on a budget.

But first, let me guide you through what to consider when searching for the best d river for a senior golfer.

What Seniors Should Look for in a Driver

Degrees of loft.

A senior player is best suited to weaker lofted drivers, like a 12-degree setup. These drivers help slower swing speeds launch high for optimal airtime and carry distance off the tee.

If you find a 12-degree loft is too strong for your desired launch, think about a driver with an adjustable hosel. On average, they allow you to weaken the loft angle by 1.5 degrees to achieve a 13.5-degree setup.

Conversely, seniors with moderate swing speeds may excel with a 10.5-degree driver, which prompts a mid-launch for improved control. An adjustable hosel allows you to weaken the loft to approximately 12 degrees should you need the added lift off the tee.

Senior Flex Shaft

The average senior player is best suited to a lighter, flexible senior flex shaft. It helps slower swing speeds accelerate on the downswing and spring the clubhead into impact for maximum energy transfer. As a result, you stand a higher chance of producing a consistently high-launching tee shot.

In addition, senior female golfers should stick to ladies flex shafts, which are easier to swing and generate power on the downswing. Now, not all seniors need a light, soft flex shaft. Some fitter, stronger golfers will do fine with a regular flex shaft.

High Launch

Senior golfers suit drivers with high launch profiles as it promotes consistent airtime and carry distance. Naturally, faster-swinging seniors may prefer a mid to low launch. But overall, the average golfer excels with enhanced lift off the tee.

Drivers that promote high launch are equipped with a low center of gravity (CG) and weaker loft profile. In addition, you may consider a light, soft flex shaft with a low kick point to further boost your tee shot launch.

High Moment of Inertia (MOI)

Drivers with increased MOI help seniors minimize twist during the swing and enhance stability at impact. This proves ideal for slow swing-speed seniors who cannot afford ball speed dropoff or a high spin rate.

The stable clubface boosts energy transfer at contact, consistent speed, and low spin on the ball, regardless of the strike zone. The forgiving nature of a high MOI driver works for mid and high-handicap seniors who are yet to master the art of optimal ball striking.

Drivers are built to deliver varying shot shapes to cater to your requirements off the tee. Generally, they either consist of a draw bias or neutral profile, with the former suiting high handicappers looking to minimize sliced shots.

Conversely, a neutral profile works for mid and low-handicappers seeking greater control of their flight off the tee. While you rarely find fade bias drivers, you can source an option with an adjustable sliding weight to alter the position of the CG.

To shift to a fade bias setup, you place the weight towards the toe, while a draw bias requires mass in the heel.

10 Best Drivers for Seniors

1. tour edge hot launch c522 – best overall driver for seniors.

Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 Driver

Features minimal offset designed for medium+ tempo swing speeds to attain maximum ball speed. The Hot Launch C range is for the player seeking optimal launch and spin rates, while still enjoying the benefits of extreme ease of use, forgiveness, and accuracy.

  • Easy launching driver
  • Explosive clubface
  • Affordable price tag
  • Amplified audio
  • Enhanced MOI
  • The hosel is not adjustable
  • Seniors with faster swing speeds may despise the higher launch

The Tour Edge Hot Launch C522 impressed during testing to claim the prize for the overall best driver for a senior golfer in 2023. Its explosive clubface, high MOI, and easy launch are ideal characteristics for the average senior driver.

The senior golf equipment experts craft the Hot Launch C522 in a 9, 10.5, and 12-degree loft to suit varying launch preferences. I feel the average senior will thrive with the weaker lofted 12-degree driver.

Next, the Diamond Face 2.0 proved efficient at accelerating ball speed across the clubface. As a result, it prompts a higher launch and long flight for impressive carry distance.

I also welcomed the combination of advanced MOI and low CG, which stabilized the clubhead at impact. In addition, the low CG promoted an effortless launch which slower swing speeds can appreciate.

Finally, the A.R.C Acoustic Engineering was a stroke of genius by Tour Edge, as it amplifies audio on each tee shot.

2. PXG 0211 – Best Budget Driver For Slower Swing Speeds

PXG 0211 Driver

A performance enhancing powerhouse that makes it easy to take your game farther off the tee. The PXG 0211 Driver delivers more distance, improved accuracy and added forgiveness.

  • Adjustable hosel
  • Not the longest driver around
  • It feels slightly heavier than other drivers, which some seniors may find tough to accelerate.

Compared to the industry giants, PXG are the newcomers but continue to turn heads with their affordable, forgiving, and long drivers. The 0211 driver lives up to the expectation to earn the mark of the best budget driver for slower swing speeds.

The star feature in my eyes is the High-Speed titanium alloy clubface which sprung my ball rapidly into the air for a powerful launch. I felt the Variable Face Design provided phenomenal support to the titanium to accelerate ball zip across the clubface.

PXG engineers equipped the 0211 with an enlarged MOI profile to stabilize the clubhead during the swing and through contact. Plus, the driver carried a lower CG, encouraging higher launching tee shots.

There are multiple stock shaft and loft options on the PXG 0211, but I feel the 12-degree loft and Cypher 40 5.0 senior flex shaft work best. Naturally, faster swing speed seniors may prefer the EvenFlow Riptide CB 50g 5.5 regular flex.

Lastly, this driver sports an adjustable hosel, which enables you to strengthen and weaken the loft by up to 1.5 degrees.

3. Ping G430 SFT – Most Forgiving

  • Exceptional Forgiveness
  • Fights slices for straighter shots
  • Optimizes ball speed
  • Prompts a high launch
  • Priced at a premium
  • Minimizes ability to shape tee shots

Mid and high-handicap golfers require a forgiving driver that encourages improved accuracy, a high launch angle, and consistent length. The new Ping G430 SFT proved effective in these areas to lower the damage on heel and toe mishits.

The 22-gram tungsten moveable back weight enables you to adjust the CG positioning for an increased draw bias. Ping engineers suggest it alters the curve by up to 13 yards of the right-to-left curve. While I  noticed a difference, I  cannot tell how many yards it was.

Adding to its versatile nature is an adjustable Trajectory Tuning 2.0 hosel. I managed to strengthen and weaken the loft by 1.5 degrees. I find this suited to seniors who may wish to increase the standard 12-degree loft for a higher launch.

A T9S+ clubface includes variable thickness to spring the golf ball off the clubface for low spin and accelerated pace. The revolutions are further reduced by Ping’s Spinsistency technology, which employs a variable roll radius to control revolutions across the clubface.

As one expects from Ping, the acoustics are exceptional and produce that customary “Ping” sound off the clubface. Finally, the G430 SFT is available in a Ping Alta CB Black 55 or Tour 2.0 Chrome 65 graphite shafts.

Our Rating: 4.5

4. Cleveland Launcher XL – Easiest Launching Driver For Slower Clubhead Speed

Cleveland Launcher XL Driver

With the most MOI ever in a Cleveland Golf driver, Launcher XL will have you thinking less about the club in your hands and more about carrying bunkers, clearing hazards, and finding the fairway.

  • Incredibly easy launching
  • Maximum Forgiveness
  • Optimal balance
  • Moderately affordable
  • The high MOI design may not appeal to lower handicappers
  • Oversize design

An easy-launching driver must possess low and deep weighting and increased MOI to preserve ball speed, restrict revolutions, and launch high and long. As the name suggests, the Cleveland Launcher XL stole the show in this category and proved a hit.

Its gigantic head is not for everyone. However, a high-handicap senior golfer searching for a large sweet spot, stability, and higher ball flight, will appreciate the design. Cleveland packed in 5,200 grams of MOI per ㎠ to minimize twist and help you square the clubface at contact.

The launch is further assisted by the Rebound Frame, which boosts clubface flex in one zone, and stiffness in the other. Together these components maximize energy transfer at impact and ensure accelerated ball zip and low spin on all shots.

Next, I was impressed with the adjustable hosel that allows you to switch the loft from 9 to 12 degrees. Finally, the Project X Cypher shaft is the stock option for the Launcher XL, which features a senior, regular, or stiff flex.

5. Callaway Paradym X – Best for High Handicappers

Callaway Paradym X Driver

The Paradym X Driver is built for a high launch with high MOI, along with a generously stretched profile at address. This model is best suited for golfers seeking extreme forgiveness and a slight draw bias from their driver.

  • Draw bias promotes straighter shots
  • Launches high
  • Fast clubface
  • The draw bias design reduces your ability to shape shots

A high handicap senior needs a draw bias driver that fights slices and promotes straighter shots for improved accuracy. The Callaway Paradym X proved itself the best thanks to its superior MOI, low spin, high launch, and fast clubface.

The Paradym X is a gorgeous-looking driver crafted with lighter carbon materials in the crown and the sole. This saved the engineers 43% more weight over a titanium chassis, which they then repositioned low and deep for added stability and forgiveness.

Next, the Jailbreak Speed Frame provided impressive horizontal and torsional stability to maintain velocity and minimize spin on off-center hits. I felt the Speed Frame combined well with the forged titanium and cup face design, which launches the ball into the air.

In addition, Callaway engineers set the Paradym X for maximum forgiveness with a draw bias design. It did well to restrict slices on my mishits and promoted consistent straight flight.

The Paradym X is fitted in a 9, 10.5, and 12-degree loft profile. But I feel most seniors will suit the 12-degree design. Lastly, the stock shafts are an Aldila Ascent PL Blue 40, Project X Hzrdus Gen 4 Silver 50, and 60 graphite design. However, most seniors will thrive with the Aldila.

6. TaylorMade Stealth 2 – Best for Mid Handicappers

TaylorMade Stealth2 Driver

Building on the speed producing success of the original 60X Carbon Twist Face, the new design features an enhanced version of Inverted Cone Technology to help maintain ball speed on off-center strikes and increase forgiveness.

  • Neutral flight
  • Incredibly forgiving
  • Attractive finish
  • Rapid clubhead speed
  • Mid to high launch
  • High-end price tag
  • No adjustable sliding track weight

The TaylorMade Stealth 2 tones down the draw bias compared to the HD model to give mid-handicappers neutral flight. The second generation of Carbonwood drivers offers impressive acoustics, accelerated clubhead speed, and higher ball flight.

Like the original Stealth, the clubface contains the 60x Carbon Twist Face, which helped square it up at impact. This year, the engineers employed the reputable Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) to maintain speed and lower spin across an expanded clubface area.

The Stealth 2 further impressed me with its clubhead pace. As an average swing speed golfer, I could always use a boost, and the Asymmetric Inertia Generator delivered. The slippery head shape is highly aerodynamic and fights drag to accelerate on the downswing.

In my experience, the mid to low spin driver produced sublime acoustics and a pleasant feel that mid-handicappers appreciate. Finally, the Stealth 2 is available in a 9, 10.5, and 12-degree loft. The stock shafts are Fujikura Ventus TR Red 5 and Mitsubishi Diamana S+.

7. Cobra AeroJet – Best Driver for Low Handicappers

Cobra Aerojet Driver

A seamless aerodynamic design is adapted to deliver faster clubhead speed for maximized distance.

  • Accelerates ball speed
  • Minimizes spin
  • Flexible clubface
  • Aerodynamic clubhead
  • Expensive driver for a senior golfer
  • Slower swing speed seniors may prefer the higher launch of the Max.

The 2023 Cobra AeroJet driver produces neutral ball flight, mid-launch, and optimal energy transfer for faster ball speeds. Although some superior golfers may prefer the Low Spin version, most seniors will excel with the standard AeroJet design.

Cobra engineers crafted the AeroJet with an aerodynamic clubhead that accelerates velocity on the downswing for a powerful strike. Once the clubface catches the ball, it imparts increased zip onto the cover.

A PWR-Bridge Weighting structure creates spectacular flexibility to increase speed on low-face strikes. In addition, this structure pushes the CG low and forward to restrict spin and maximize speed.

Clubface flexibility is also improved by the PWRSHELL face insert, which expands the active zone for consistent results. Moreover, a H.O.T Face provides variable face thickness to spring the ball off the clubface and restrict spin.

The AeroJet contains an adjustable hosel, allowing seniors to reduce or increase the loft by 1.5 degrees. Cobra crafted the AeroJet in a 9, 10.5, and 12-degree loft profile. The stock shafts include the MCA Kai’li White 60, MCA Kai’li Blue 60, and UST Helium Nanocore 4.

8. Cobra LTDx Max – Best for Senior Ladies

Cobra Golf LTDx Max Women's Driver

Multi material weighting system consisting of steel, titanium and aluminum positions mass low and forward to combine low spin with faster ball speed for maximized distance. An updated CNC Infinity Face design wraps around the leading edge to crease the zone of maximum ball speed while providing a traditional topline for improved visual alignment.

  • Promotes rapid clubhead speed
  • Lowers spin
  • Adjustable weight and hosel
  • No stock shaft options for moderate to high swing speeds

The Cobra LTDx Max is our top ladies driver in 2023 thanks to its attractive design, speed, accuracy, and distance. A lighter shaft paired with a forgiving 460 cc clubhead generates accelerated clubhead speed, increased lift, and straight drives.

Unlike their peers, Cobra opted to shift weight low and forward in the LTDx Max head for reduced revolutions. In addition, the PWR-COR technology helps ladies transfer optimal energy from clubface to ball at an accelerated pace.

Slower swing speeds will enjoy the combination of CNC Milled clubface and H.O.T Face technology. The pair creates variable thickness across the clubface for an enlarged active zone for an improved tee shot distance.

Cobra provides optimal versatility on the LTDx Max, with an adjustable hosel and weighting to alter your loft and shot bias. During our testing, the high handicapper ladies felt the heel weighting setup was best as it offered a draw bias to fight slices on mishits.

Finally, the UST Helium Nanocore 40 is the stock shaft for this driver and contains a low kick point for an improved launch. Finally, your only loft options are a 10.5 and 12-degree angle, which suits slow to moderate swing speeds.

9. Callaway Rogue ST Max D – Best for Slicers

Callaway Rogue ST Max D Driver

Rogue ST MAX D is built for a high level of draw bias, with high MOI, a more upright lie, reduced face progression, and a stretched profile. All these features promote maximum shot shape correction for players who tend to slice the ball.

  • High draw bias
  • Improves shot shape consistency
  • Optimal stability
  • Promotes accelerated ball speed
  • Expensive for the average golfer
  • The draw bias design restricts workability off the tee.

High handicappers struggling to bust sliced shots are better off with a draw bias driver that resists right curve and puts you straight. The Callaway Rogue ST Max D reduced the impact of my sliced shots for more consistency off the tee.

Naturally, it does not solve a slice but mitigates the outcome. The engineers crafted a driver head with significant offset to create a draw bias ball flight. In addition, a 20-gram tungsten speed cartridge is positioned deep and low in the clubhead for added stability and MOI.

When striking this driver, I enjoyed enhanced rigidity from the refined A.I. Jailbreak Speed Frame. The horizontal and torsional stability ensures velocity across an expanded zone of the clubface.

Sticking with their love for technology, the engineers employed A.I. to minimize spin on all shots for maximum driver distance.

Callaway offers a variety of stock shaft options to pair with your Rogue ST Max D. However, I find senior golfers thrive with the True Temper Cypher shaft. Finally, like its peers, you can choose a 9, 10.5, and 12-degree loft profile.

10. Callaway Mavrik – Best for Higher Ball Speed

Callaway Golf Mavrik Driver

Highlights:

  • AI Face Design
  • Jailbreak technology for faster ball speeds
  • Adjustable hosel
  • Impressive forgiveness and spin
  • Pricing has dropped since the release
  • Aerodynamic shaping of the driver's head
  • Ball speeds are not quite as high as some of the new Rogue ST drivers
  • The clubface sits open
  • Generates accelerated ball pace
  • Fast clubhead
  • Forgiving face
  • Promotes maximum distance
  • The wrench to adjust the hosel is not included
  • It looks open at address which is off-putting to some golfers.

The Callaway Mavrik driver generated sublime speed off the clubface to produce an enhanced ball flight, low to medium spin, and consistent carry distance. Plus, it is economical and features a Cyclone Aero Shape crown to increase swing speed on the way down.

Engineers from Callaway continue to show their commitment to advanced technology with Mavrik’s A.I. Face construction. The enlarged clubface proved valuable on mishits, as it prevented excess speed dropoff and minimized spin for consistent results.

Besides its sizeable construction, the clubface contains a thin FS2S titanium which blasts the ball into the sky. I felt the titanium clubface and A.I. Face construction pair well to maximize energy transfer at impact.

Next, The Triaxial Carbon Crown helped Callaway save mass and reposition it in the sole to increase MOI and lower the CG. This helped me stabilize the clubface at impact, to keep it square and promote maximal zip for a long, straight drive.

The Callaway Mavrik drivers are available in a 9, 10.5, or 12-degree loft. However, I feel seniors are best suited to the latter two. Lastly, your stock shaft options include the True Temper EvenFlow Riptide, Project X HZRDUS Black, UST Mamiya Helium Black, and the Aldila Rogue White.

You can read my colleague Britt’s detailed review of the Callaway Mavrik for a 360-degree analysis of the big stick.

With this in mind, our senior testers found that the Callaway Ai Smoke Max Fast is the best driver for golfers over 50 searching for more length. The club was fast on the downswing, and the face was forgiving, leading to fast ball speed, high launch, and consistent distance for slower swing speeds.

In this guide, I also cover drivers like the Cobra Aerojet, Cleveland Launcher XL2, and Ping G430 Max 10K. Our team tested 15 drivers with senior flex shafts and higher lofts but found these four flew farther without impacting forgiveness.

🥇Overall Best Distance Driver For Seniors

Paradym ai smoke max fast.

Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast

The testing team and I were skeptical of the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast because of the abundance of buzzwords thrown into the title, but wow, we were humbled. Callaway did their research with this club. It increases clubhead speed for slow-swinging seniors and improves forgiveness for the average golfer.

The Ai Micro Deflections were key to maintaining power on mishits. They reduced the spin rate and preserved ball speed on heel and toe strikes,  encouraging a high launch and longer distance. Drives with the Ai Smoke Max Fast out flew and rolled the other drivers we tested.

It was more than its distance and forgiveness that impressed our testing team. The overall consensus from our team is that the Paradym Ai Smoke is the best-looking and sounding driver tested this year. Despite the positives, it is not perfect because it carries an eye-watering price tag and does not suit fans of a low launch.

🤑 Best Value Distance Driver For Seniors

Cobra aerojet driver.

Best Budget

best tour edge driver for seniors

The Cobra Aerojet is the predecessor to the Cobra Darkspeed, and we felt the older version has better value for money. Since it’s a season old, the price of the Aerojet has dropped, and it is now an affordable option, which is worth considering if you are on a budget.

The Aerojet was among the longest drivers we tested in 2023, performing well against the newer releases. Our testers reported that the clubface was flexible, and the sweet spot was wide on the driver, which helped them produce impressive distance even when they missed the center.

Our team of testers loves the Aerojet for its affordability, distance, forgiveness, and adjustability. They also liked the look and premium finish better compared to the newly released Darkspeed. The Cobra Aerojet is built for a neutral ball flight, which is not ideal for seniors with a slice addiction. Instead, I suggest draw bias drivers, like the Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast .

  • Excellent value for money
  • Generates long distance
  • Adjustable driver loft for seniors
  • Premium finish
  • Not the best slice-fighting driver

🚀 Highest Launching Distance Driver

Cleveland launcher xl2.

High Launch Driver

Cleveland Launcher XL2

A lightweight shaft, a gigantic head, and a low center gravity saw the Cleveland Launcher XL2 launch the highest drives among our testers. Once the ball was in the air, it sat there for what seemed like minutes before descending.

The carry distance was impressive on this driver. However, it restricted roll, which is something to consider if you play in constant wind. If you live in a crazy windy city like Amarillo, Texas, you might prefer a lower launching driver than the XL2.

Our testers were in awe of the forgiving nature of the driver, which stems from its extra large sweet spot and slightly offset face. We love the Launcher XL2 for a slow senior swing speed, as it will give you the acceleration, power, and support to consistently get the ball in the air.

Despite its many positives, our team was not impressed with the glare off the crown of the driver, which could be detrimental to players with sensitive eyes.

  • High launching design
  • Forgiving oversized head
  • Large sweet spot
  • Too reflective
  • Reduced roll

🙏🏼 Most Forgiving Driver for Seniors

Ping 430 max 10k driver.

Most Forgiving

Ping 430 Max 10K Driver photo by Senior Golf Source

Consistent launches, high flight, and reasonably accurate results made the Ping G430 Max 10K the most forgiving driver for seniors. The majority of our testers lost minimal ball speed on heel and toe shots and contained spin, which resulted in consistent distance and helped the ball to hold its line in the air.

Ping added more moment of inertia (MOI) to the head of this driver to encourage you to hit straighter drives. While our team was unable to hit every shot straight, they were impressed with the resistance to flying offline, but the ball still ended in the rough on a couple of occasions.

The Ping G430 Max 10K proved more than just a forgiving big stick, which is why we loved it. That famed ping sound rang out every time the metal face connected with the ball, which makes purists weak at the knees. The clubface further impressed with its low spin and high-speed design.

Our only area of concern is the exorbitant price tag attached to the driver, but a premium product comes at a cost.

Tip : Ping 430 Max 10K HL (high launch) is a good alternative for senior players needing a bit more launch.

  • Outstanding forgiveness
  • Generates high flight
  • Minimizes curve in the air
  • Adjustable design
  • Pricey driver for the average golfer

What To Consider When Buying A Distance Driver For Seniors

best tour edge driver for seniors

Price: Distance drivers for senior golfers range from $300 to over $600 new. If you are on a budget, I recommend looking at older edition drivers , which perform up to the standards of new releases. The Cobra Aerojet is a prime example of an affordable, high-performing, older driver.

Loft: Senior golfers are better off with a higher lofted driver, like a 10.5 or 12-degree design. During testing, we adjusted the hosel of a 10.5-degree and weakened it to 11 degrees. The higher loft makes it easier to launch the ball high and long.

Senior Shaft Flex: A shaft flex for senior golfers is lighter and more flexible than a regular or stiff shaft. The added flex provides additional speed and power on the downswing to improve energy transfer. Optimized energy transfer leads to faster ball speed and less spin for a longer drive.

Forgiving Clubface: An active clubface with a wide sweet spot helps you increase ball speed and lower spin from the heel to the toe. The forgiving design delivers consistent distance and accuracy, despite your mishit like the Ping G430 Max 10K did for our testers.

Launch: If you are launching your ball lower than expected, you need a higher lofted driver with low CG. The increased weight in the sole of the driver encourages a high launch, even on mishits, just as we experienced with the Cleveland Launcher XL2.

How Far Do Seniors Drive The Ball On Average ?

Arccos and Golf Magazine gathered driving distance data from thousands of amateurs. The longest hitters are seniors aged 50 to 59 with scratch handicaps or better. These players hit the ball an average of 251 yards,  35 yards further than a middle handicapper of the same age.

The shortest senior hitters are 30-plus handicappers aged 70 to 79. Golfers in this bracket average 157 yards off the tee box.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far should a 70-year-old golfer hit the ball.

A middle handicap 70-year-old golfer should drive the ball 195 yards on average. They suggest that this is an average result for a golfer with a swing speed of approximately 75 mph, which is where most seniors fit in.

How can a senior driver get more distance?

A senior golfer can get more driver distance by following these five steps: 1. Use a closed coil swing 2. Optimize your shoulder and hip rotation 3. Use a lighter driver 4. Play with a senior flex shaft 5. Use a driver that has a low CG and promotes a high, consistent launch.

What degree driver is best for seniors?

For slow swing speeds, seniors should use a 12-degree driver or higher for the added launch. This helps produce a consistently high launch for optimal carry distance off the tee. However, some senior golfers with faster swing speeds may still use 10 to 10.5.

How to increase driver distance for seniors?

Seniors can increase driver distance by playing with lightweight, forgiving and high lofted drivers and a flexible seniors flex shaft. These components increase your swing speed and power on the downswing to improve ball speed and lower spin. Fast ball speed and less spin lead to a high launch and increased carry distance.

Final Thoughts

After rigorous testing and discussions, the Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Max Fast is the best distance driver for seniors. The shaft was light and fast, while the clubface was wide, forgiving, and rebounded quickly for a high launch and maximum carry distance.

The driver is priced at a premium, making it a serious investment. But, its performance and durability will perform for years to come. However, if you are looking to keep expenses down, I suggest the affordable alternative of the Cobra Aerojet.

  • New forged ring construction
  • Speed injected Twist face
  • Speed Pocket technology
  • Lightweight yet high speed
  • Expensive new technology

The TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Driver is much different than the TaylorMade SIM Max that was released last year. The great thing about the SIM 2 Max is the brand new shaping and design. The new forged ring construction is a lightweight and high-strength club that gets golfers quite a bit more distance than the previous version.

Of course, from one year to the next, the golf drivers offered by TaylorMade will change considerably. These changes are put into place to get players more speed and distance . The Speed Pocket technology is something that TaylorMade will likely keep around for years to come.

In general, seniors get the one thing that they need the most from the TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Driver, and that is distance . This incredible distance technology will help any senior golfer feel like they are a new player again.

2. Callaway Epic Flash Star Driver

Best Premium Driver For Seniors

best tour edge driver for seniors

  • Created using artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Internal jailbreak bars for incredible speed
  • Triaxial carbon fabric crown for a lower center of gravity
  • One of the most expensive golf drivers on the market

The Callaway Epic Flash Star Driver is a top of the line premium golf driver that is designed to help players that are looking for extra ball speed and distance. The new Epic Flash Star Driver is made from only the most top of the line equipment, and it is made to help increase a senior golfer’s swing speed.

When senior players need help getting their golf ball to travel further, they will want a driver like this in their hands. As you come into the impact position, the face will flex, and then it will pull tight again to promote maximum distance with the clubhead.

Overall the driver is a large investment , but with the low center of gravity and extreme speed, most seniors will easily agree the technology is well worth the money.

3. Cleveland Golf Launcher Turbo Driver

Best Driver For Senior Beginner

best tour edge driver for seniors

  • Turbocharged Cup Face
  • HiBore Crown
  • Ultralight hosel
  • Non-adjustable driver

The Cleveland Golf Launcher Turbo Driver is a great golf club for those that are looking to get increased launch, a higher ball flight, and an overall consistent golf driver. The thing that helps the Cleveland Launcher stand out is that it has a very low dispersion rate. If you feel as though you spray the ball around the course a bit, this is a club that can absolutely help to make a difference.

Cleveland Golf Launcher Turbo Drivers are an excellent choice for the golfer that is looking for the lightest weight technology without trying to do all that much with adjustability. Since this does not have an adjustable hosel, you can expect that it becomes a bit more difficult to change the loft or lie angle should you run into some trouble.

However, with the premium shaft and impressive launch, most golfers like this club set just the way it is.

4. Cobra Women’s RadSpeed XB

Best Driver For Senior Women

best tour edge driver for seniors

  • Strategic center of gravity placement
  • Extreme back weighting
  • Thin carbon crown
  • The sound is a bit loud, takes a bit to get used to

The Cobra Women’s RadSpeed XB is an excellent option for women golfers that are starting their senior careers. With a women’s golf driver like this, you will benefit from a low center of gravity, impressive speed, and increased forgiveness.

In addition, the Thin Ply Carbon Crown on the golf driver head is 30% thinner and will make it easier to get extra ball speed. Overall the club saved another 7 grams of weight in the T Bar area of the club head.

Essentially the driver is one of the lightest that Cobra has ever put out , but it has some of the best performance around. You will also find that the adjustable weighting makes it an excellent choice for those that are looking to play around with different lofts and ball flights.

5. Callaway Big Bertha B21 Driver

Best Senior Driver For Forgiveness

best tour edge driver for seniors

  • It helps to eliminate a slice
  • Advanced artificial intelligence
  • Faster ball speeds
  • Very draw bias

The Callaway Big Bertha B21 Driver is the most forgiving for a senior golfer. With this club in your hands, you will be able to straighten out almost any slice or hook that you may come across. The B21 is a very low spin club with high MOI that will send the ball rolling a long way.

The large Big Bertha club head with draw bias increases ball speeds and helps golfers that are looking for an overall longer ball flight. If you miss the center with the B21, you are still going to get plenty of incredible distance and a straight golf shot.

6. Callaway Epic Max Driver

Best Senior Driver For Distance

best tour edge driver for seniors

  • Created using artificial intelligence
  • New Triaxial Carbon material
  •  Optifit hosel
  • Higher priced new release

The brand new Callaway Epic Max Driver will get elderly golfers more distance than any other club on the market. With the Callaway Epic Max Driver in your hands, players will get some of the lowest spinning and fastest ball speed golf shot strikes they have ever seen.

There is a sliding weight in the club head that is going to help golfers that are trying to increase the adjustability they get with a golf club in their hands. If you want to shoot straighter or learn to play the ball low or high, you can do it with the Epic Max in your hands.

The new Jailbreak technology has also changed a bit, and players are benefiting greatly from this new face. IF you want something that will give you impressive shot shaping but still allow for increased distance and overall control. The thing we love most about the Epic Max driver is that it allows players to hit golf shots that make them feel like they have full control over where the golf ball goes.

7. TaylorMade M6

best tour edge driver for seniors

So TaylorMade grabbed yet another spot in our top three drivers for seniors. This TaylorMade M6 Driver is one of the best and most popular drivers on the market at this time.

The list of technology and features included in this Driver goes on and on but we will give you a quick rundown on the things you need to know.

TaylorMade uses the newly introduced speed injected twist face technology on all of their M6 Drivers.

Essentially they make every Driver and then test them individually before they ship them out to make sure they are as close as possible to the legal limit.

This driver is one of the longest drivers on the market, not just for senior golfers but for lower handicap players as well.

Although there are some adjustments you can make on this club (loft sleeve) the Center of Gravity stays in place. Its design is to create the most desirable spin and launch angles for a great mid handicap player driver .

If you are looking to hit the ball further this Driver is the choice for you. Several shafts are available for this club in the senior flex.

8. TaylorMade SIM Max Draw

Best Senior Driver For Fixing A Slice

best tour edge driver for seniors

The TaylorMade SIM Max Draw Drive r is built for the senior golfer that slices their shots. If you are tired of seeing that left-to-right ball flight on your shots, the SIM Max Draw could be the best fit for your game.

There are several important things that truly make the SIM Max Draw stand out from the rest of the best senior golf clubs on the market.

The Speed Injected clubhead allows golfers to get more distance and accuracy in their game. Each driver’s head is researched and perfected before it leaving the warehouse. If there is room for more ball speed, Taylor Made will inject the face and get it to the legal limit.

With Twist Face technology golfers will get a very large sweet spot with a corrective face angle. This face angle allows players to miss the center of the face yet still get lots of good distance. If you are used to losing 40 or 50 yards on a missed drive, the SIM Max will help get you quite a bit more distance.

Adjustability in a senior driver is essential, and luckily with SIM Max draw, you can use the loft sleeve to set this driver to work for your golf game.

You can optimize the face and launch angle as well . Allowing this safe correction is helpful for when the slice comes and goes from your gram.

This driver is packed with impressive technology, and it is going to be technologically relevant for the next five to ten years. Certainly, you get your money’s worth out of the SIM Max Draw Driver.

9. Cobra Speedzone

Best Adjustable Driver for Seniors

best tour edge driver for seniors

The Cobra Speedzone driver is one of the most adjustable drivers on the market. If you want to draw the ball or lower your launch, you can make some simple adjustments to get the Cobra Speedzone to work for you.

Cobra has always been a step behind when it comes to distance. However, with the new Speedzone series, they have certainly caught up. The CNC milled face and 360 Carbon Wrap help to make the Speedzone more efficient and higher performing when it comes to ball speed stability.

The Speedzone comes with the new Speedzone shaping that helps players get the club to go through the air at a much faster pace. If you are a senior golfer who feels that you have been losing club head speed, the Speedzone can help you earn it back.

When it comes to the center of gravity, the Cobra Speedzone driver has a low center that allows for a very high launch . Senior golfers that are capable of getting extra launch are going to get more distance. The longer the ball stays in the air, the further the distance.

We like the Cobra Speedzone for seniors because the golf game of a senior player is continually changing. As your game changes and you start to lose speed, purchasing new clubs can get expensive.

Having the ability to simply adjust the club, a few degrees, will be a great benefit.

10. Pinemeadow PGX Offset

Best Affordable Driver for Seniors

best tour edge driver for seniors

Golf Drivers don’t get much more affordable than this PGX Offest Golf Driver .

The main selling point of this PGX Driver is that it is very much a slice correcting club . It’s set up extremely offset to try and help seniors or any golfers square the club at impact.

This driver is a very low priced option and makes it a perfect choice for someone using very old clubs, looking for an affordable upgrade. Will this driver deliver the maximum ball speed that the TaylorMade M6 or Cobra F9 would, no.

What to look for when Picking a Senior Golf Driver?

So you know it’s time to switch to a senior shaft but you are wondering if there is more to picking out a senior driver.

Take a look at our guide for choosing the best golf driver for seniors that delivers every time!

Club Head Size and Weight

The clubhead size is likely going to be the same on pretty much any of the options you are interested in. With 460 cc being the legal limit most manufacturers want to keep the size right around this mark to help increase performance.

The weights when choosing a senior driver can be very important. Make sure when reading reviews you look for keywords like “adjustable weights” or “reduced weight in club head”.

Several manufacturers have been putting out excellent options for lightweight drivers that don’t reduce performance or have decreased stability. However, if you don’t want to struggle with the weight of a driver, refer to our definitive guide on the best irons for seniors that are currently available.

Adjustability

Adjustability can be a double-edged sword. I think this is a great feature to have in a club. For some reason, as you age if you start to develop a draw that you don’t want, you can set a driver to compensate for it.

Are you going to put the time in on the range to fix it? Probably not, so why not use the adjustability to your advantage.

That being said some golfers have trouble with the adjustable features and they just want something that is set to work for them. Something they can hit cleanly all day without worrying about striking near the toe or heel.

They want a simple, easy, grab-and-go club without having the thought of changing it by a few degrees based on the day. If a person is not at the top of their game (and even if they are) adjustability can be a nice benefit for a more comfortable round.

Forgiveness

As long as your MOI, shaft, and loft options are in balance with your golf game you should be fine as far as forgiveness is concerned. The quickest way to make this game of golf harder is to choose the wrong golf equipment, namely shaft and loft.

As a senior player if you end up going for a Driver shaft that is too stiff for you that is where your swing speed issues will escalate. As a general rule of thumb if you are looking at a Driver that is referred to as the “Tour” model then it may be a bit less forgiving and not as easy to drive than some of the others.

If you choose a Driver that is not adjustable make sure to get yourself at least 10.5 degrees of loft. You will want this for maximum distance and correct launch.

Shaft Options

As far as shaft options are concerned it will depend on the caliber of Driver you choose.

The high-end expensive drivers will likely have two senior shaft options, one in an ultra-lightweight shaft and another in a slightly heavier shaft.

If you go with a company like Cleveland you will likely just get their stock shaft option. They generally design the driver to work with the shaft it is intended to come with. These shafts are almost always great in a medium weight.

Frequently Asked Questions

Buying a perfect and easy to use golf driver for a senior can take a bit of time and research. There are so many great options on the market that golfers often struggle with which will be the best for their game.

Luckily with the answers to these questions and our reviews you should have confidence in the way that you can get your golf shots off the tee at your favorite courses.

The ultimate best golf driver for seniors this year was hands down the TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Driver . From the moment this club was even an idea it was the senior with slower swing speeds that they had in mind.

The club has helped many senior golfers increase clubhead speed and improve ball flight.

The most important thing to remember as a senior player looking for drivers is that your clubhead speed is likely not going to increase through the years. If anything it will continue to decrease.

Don’t buy a driver that you need to push yourself to hit well, now is the time to purchase something that works for you, not against you.

Choosing the right golf ball for you can also greatly improve your game, check out our recommendations for the best golf balls for seniors in 2024.

Callaway Golf 2022 Rogue ST Max Driver (Right Hand, Cypher 40G Shaft, Light Flex, 12 Degrees Loft)

  • Long off the tee with low spin
  • New high-launch technology for straighter drives
  • Fast ball speed from AI Designed Flash Face
  • Improved launch angle with minimal chance of slices
  • Easy to hit
  •  A stronger player may require a stiffer shaft
  •  Upper price level
  •  Internal draw bias in the head not for golfers who prefer to hit a fade
  • Head material: Graphite
  • Shaft material: Cypher 40G
  • Loft: 10.5 °, 12 °

With a February 2022 release date from Callaway, you can be sure that this club is the most advanced driver on the market. Callaway is known as the leader in A.I. tech and innovation. The smart AI technology developed in this latest model will please Callaway fans, both young and especially old. Color me impressed, that’s for sure.

Over the years, I’ve found that drivers are all about achieving maximum distance, and the new Rogue ST produces long, straight, high-launch drives by decreasing ball spin off the face.

I really noticed the new AI-designed Flash Face Rouge ST that promotes faster ball speed at contact and compensates for any off-center strike, thereby retaining distance and making my shots look amazing. This feels closer to the TM SIM driver, the undisputed champion of forgiveness these days.

The super-strength clubhead design and materials are lighter than titanium to produce a consistent ball speed. That said, an internal draw bias may make the Rogue ST not the club of choice for golfers who prefer hitting fades.

This lightweight driver screams more ball speed, especially for golfers with mobility needs who struggle in that area. You may require a stiffer shaft for older golfers (which we will all be one day) who have a little more strength behind them.

Unfortunately, Callaway isn’t known for their high-quality stock shafts, so I recommend getting fit and spending the extra few bucks to get something that matches your swing exactly.

Slow-swing speed golfers or elderly golfers in search of a senior driver should take advantage of this new technology. This advanced Callaway engineering makes the ST Max Driver the best golf driver for seniors to keep their game consistent.

TaylorMade SIM MAX-D Driver, UST Mamiya Helium 4 Shaft, 12.0 Degree Loft, Right Hand, Senior Flex

  • Revolutionary new shape
  • Faster clubhead speed and more distance
  • Twist Face Technology with a slightly larger face
  • Ultra-low CG optimizes COR
  • New shape not for all
  • Head material: Titanium
  • Shaft material: UST Mamiya Helium 4

The TaylorMade SIM 2 MAX is my top pick for the most forgiving driver for elderly golfers; I noticed less drag and greater clubhead speed through the ball.

A rear weight increases the MOI for more forgiveness on mis-hits. Twist Face Technology with a slightly larger face area provides straighter shots consistently, regardless of age.

These factors specifically make the Taylormade MAX-D the best driver for a senior golfer who needs extra forgiveness on their drives. The downside here is that this newer tech gives the club a distinct, advanced shape that may not be for the golfers who prefer the classic feel.

The multi-material construction, with carbon, steel, and titanium, allows the weight to be positioned precisely in the head for low CG and high MOI. Each head is calibrated to its maximum legal limit. The 2-degree Loft Sleeve allows for customized face angle and ball trajectory adjustment.

Unlike other adjustable drivers from the competitors, this setup is the easiest to use while still providing a wide range of options.

All of these features add up to make an incredibly forgiving senior driver. This could be the perfect club for you if you know you’re prone to a few slices. If you can dole out the extra cash, the Taylormade MAX-D is well worth it.

Want more forgiving driver options? These are the most forgiving drivers on the market.

  • Shaft material: Graphite
  • Loft: 10.5 °

If you want to spend a little less than you would with the Taylormade but you still want to improve your game as a senior golfer, the MAZEL Titanium is one of the best senior golf drivers to add to your set of clubs.

I’m starting to get to the age where I don’t want any more club changes or fancy technology; I just want a simple club that will get the job done. You’ll be pleased to see this driver here if you can relate. Not many people know this because it’s not a big name, but I assure you, it gets the job done just as well as any other big stick.

I was surprised at the distance and forgiveness of this budget club. With an engineered wedge, it offers incredible ball speed off of its speed channel. The result? A steadier performance with crisp ball speed.

The larger sweet spot allows you to take advantage of this extra speed and distance, even if you’re a little off-center when you strike the ball.

While this lacks some of the features of the more expensive clubs, such as adjustability and maybe some styling points, it’s still one of the best drivers for seniors in 2024 if your budget is tight.

Pinemeadow Golf PGX Offset Driver, Left Hand, Black/Green

  • Extremely inexpensive
  • Anti-slice technology
  • Not available with a seniors shaft
  • Only available in 10.5-degree loft
  • Head material: Other

I love golf for its simplicity sometimes, and if you share that sentiment and want to make golf as easy as possible, then have a look at this no-frills driver that is the best driver for seniors on a budget.

Many of the senior golfers I work with have difficulty relinquishing their stiff or regular flex shaft in favor of the “seniors” flex. But with this driver, you won’t have to, as the regular flex is designed for slower swing speeds. Other companies provide much stiffer shafts that are labeled ‘regular.’ PGX has taken the opposite approach, and my students are much happier because of it.

What really made me include this driver what the exaggerated offset. I’ve not seen many clubs with such an embellished design, so if slicing is your problem, let me introduce you to your solution.

Although great at curing slices, it may take some getting used to. Its unique look can be off-putting to some golfers, but that’s the price you might have to pay to keep your ball from slicing into the next fairway.

It’s very hard to argue with the value this club offers. I also really liked the protective head cover included, sourced from genuine leather. While not the most popular name on this list, PGX is unapologetic about manufacturing drivers that will help cure your slice to lower your scores. And for that, I have a lot of admiration for them.

Taylormade Stealth 2 Plus Driver 10.5 Mitsubishi Kai'li Red 60 Stiff Right Handed

  • Good aerodynamics and low drag
  • Highly forgiving
  • Speed and distance
  • OptiFit Adjustability
  • Distance could be better
  • Not as much adjustability as some would like

TaylorMade produces some legendary drivers, and their STEALTH 2 PLUS is a great option for seniors. It is perfect for distance but not quite as good as the MAX (my number 2 pick). Yet, most golfers appreciate the consistency and accuracy of the STEALTH. The low spin will also benefit most seniors.

You can expect a decent trajectory and fair consistency with the Stealth 2 Plus as it has a large and forgiving 460cc head. This filled me with confidence at address before I even put the ball on the tee. It is easy to hit and will not allow mishits to stray too far off course.

The technology used in this driver is impressive. The speed-injected intelligent crown minimizes drag and allows for greater swing speed. This will result in more distance without any added effort on your part.

The aerodynamic design adds to seed and distance, making this a long-hitting driver. However, I noticed it didn’t achieve the same distances as the SIM MAX; the reduced turbulence offered by the speed step design adds to greater accuracy and consistency.

TaylorMade has incorporated its legendary Twist Face Technology. This produces fast ball speeds across the face for distance, accuracy, and forgiveness. The 2-degree loft sleeve adjustability allows for choosing 8 lie and loft settings according to your swing and style.

The graphics are quite dramatic and, while rather stylish, might not appeal to the more conservative golfer. The Stealth 2 Plus driver is fast and long, but some might want more cold-hard distance

cobra-aerojet-max-driver

  • Good distance
  • Accurate and highly forgiving
  • Multiple adjustment options
  • 360° Aero Tips for improved aerodynamics and higher clubhead speed
  • Some players found the graphics distracting at address
  • While forgiving, the spin causes mishits to lose distance

A popular and high-rated driver for seniors is the Cobra AeroJet MAX Driver. It is a feature-rich driver that’s as fast as it is long. Cobra has created an ultra-thin CNC precision-milled face; this feature makes it incredibly speedy and accurate.

Another feature that I love improves clubhead speed for greater distances is the perimeter 360 Aero-Innovative Polymer Aero Tips. Engineered to reduce drag, the Aero Tips make the clubhead more aerodynamic and, therefore, faster.

The Carbon Fiber crown is superlight for optimal weight positioning and higher clubhead speeds. This is something that many other drivers are using, but it seems Cobra has incorporated it better than them.

My favorite part about this club is the draw-biased weight which makes a huge difference in correcting those banana slices that many seniors struggle with. I also tend to slice my misses, but they were barely noticeable with this club.

Keep in mind that, for the Cobra, the designed forgiveness can sacrifice a bit of distance due to ball speed, while some of our testers found the rather “loud” graphics on the club a little too distracting.

PXG 2022 0211 RH 12 Driver - L

  • Ideal for moderate swing speeds
  • Provides maximum launch and distance
  • Solid sound and feel at impact
  • Budget-friendly
  • Boring visuals

Not to be confused with the PGX driver, PXG is a premium company with top-tier products that also come with top-tier pricing. While this is a much higher-quality driver, some seniors may not want to shell out so much for one club.

The PXG 2021 0211 driver has a classic shape with proven aerodynamics and clubhead speed and is ideal for moderate swing speed senior golfers.

The deep, face-centered CG launches the ball easily. The driver is lighter than most competitors, and the 460cc head inspires confidence over the ball with decent forgiveness. It definitely has a classy and professional feel that is noticeable compared to other drivers of lesser value.

The new Ti412 face promotes faster ball speed across the face, and a decent amount of distance is maintained on mis-hits. I found that these optimum spin levels produce straighter tee shots and the confidence to hit more fairways.

These drivers perform well in all conditions and sit well at address. The traditional solid sound and feel-through impact are something not to be missed. That said, this club is everything and then some for traditionalists; the boring visuals may turn off senior golfers looking for a little more flash.

CG Launcher XL Drv 10.5 R RH

  • Sits well at address and is a confidence builder for all skill levels.
  • Easy, high launch creates carry and distance.
  • The great shaft fitted to this driver adds accuracy and control.
  • 4-loft options available: 9, 10.5, 10.5 Draw, and 12 degrees.
  • Well priced.
  • No hosel loft adjustment.
  • Not a leading brand, but good value for money.

I remember when the Cleveland Launcher Driver was released in 2021, thinking it won’t make any waves in the golf industry; boy, was I wrong. The performance has often exceeded the purchaser’s expectations (including mine). The latest model has recently received many accolades from golf equipment experts and other reviews.

Known as one of the top wedge manufacturers, their available products have slowly grown, and this new driver will surely put a smile on any senior’s face. Probably one of the most underrated drivers on the market; it will suit all skill levels.

Cleveland has excelled at adding a full range of high-tech to the driver. A re-designed HiBore Crown added to the Turbocharged Cup Face, and an Ultra-light Hosel gives the 460cc head a confidence-inspiring and powerful look, while the shaft fits great to the driver, adding an additional sense of control.

The head sits comfortably at address, and its stability and control make it easy to hit. The large sweet spot on the face adds forgiveness to the mis-hit tee shot without sacrificing too much distance. It feels a bit clunky compared to other drivers, but the results speak for themselves if you can get used to it.

The launch angle is improved with a deep weighting sole pad and a counterbalanced Miyazaki C. Kua shaft developed for Cleveland. What’s more, you have 4 loft options available: 9, 10.5, 10.5 Draw, and 12°, perfect for a wider range of senior golfers.

Testing this driver on the range should be fun, and the accuracy and distance are nice bonuses.

The best golf drivers for seniors – what to look for.

rogue st max driver

Slower swing speeds need assistance in the form of a greater launch angle. While adjustability is handy, it isn’t essential, provided you select a driver with the correct angle. The slower your swing speed, the more launch angle you need.

The right shaft is important for all golfers, particularly for senior players with a slower swing speed.

There are three main factors to consider for slow swing speed drivers:

A. Shaft Weight

A lighter shaft will allow for higher clubhead speed off a slower drive swing. Modern materials allow for ultra-light shafts that will help you maximize your driving speed.

B. Shaft Flexibility

More flexibility in the shaft will benefit slower swing speeds. Most drivers have a range of shaft flex options , so select the one that suits your swing speed. A specific senior shaft choice will generally suit most golfers in this category unless you have managed to maintain a fast swing speed.

C. Shaft Length

While longer shafts potentially deliver greater distance, they also reduce control. There is no perfect balance. It entirely depends on you and your own individual swing. Take the time to study your swing style as well as swing speed to determine the ideal shaft length for your game.

Again, this will vary from player to player. A lighter driver head—or really a lighter club—generally translates into higher clubhead speed and, therefore, more distance.

However, optimal head weighting also affects your launch and contributes to the driver’s forgiveness.

Check out this fascinating study to read about how proper weight distribution, flexibility, and your ability to maintain proper balance benefits your golf game.

Spin is beneficial but can also work against you. A very high spin will result in a ball going too high without achieving great distance.

Not enough spin makes for a poor launch with reduced distance. Finding the right balance between your speed and style is key.

For loft, because you’re likely working with less mobility and an impaired ability to generate top, competitive clubhead speed, a higher lofted driver will be what we’re looking for.

Anywhere from 10.5-12° is going to be your friend, as a higher lofted driver will help you easily achieve carry distance while simultaneously creating an optimal launch angle.

Adjustability is not essential but can be a handy feature for many senior golfers. It will allow you to dial the club into your specific speed and style.

Do not forget to consider the size and quality of the grip. This will help you to maintain control of the club. The larger your hands, the bigger the grip you will need.

As with all golf equipment, your budget has to be considered. Any spending on a driver will result in sacrifice on other equipment. Quality drivers are costly, but they will help you improve your golf game. So it’s a good idea to invest in a decent product for years .

All but the very best golfers want a forgiving driver . Even experienced seniors will benefit from a forgiving head. Some drivers are designed for greater forgiveness, so select the one that suits your game.

The best drivers for seniors faq.

Deciding on the loft of the driver is a personal choice, unfortunately, we often make the cardinal error of selecting too little loft. Loft is the golfer’s friend, and the older we get, the more loft should be put into play. Senior golfers lose clubhead speed in the swing and adding loft will get the ball airborne more easily, producing more carry and distance. Loft from 10.5 to 12-degrees is the optimum range for seniors. Playing golf regularly in the wind should be a consideration, but still select a 10.5 as the lowest loft.

Besides increasing the loft on the driver, selecting the correct shaft flex will increase distance and accuracy. Graphite is ideal, and a senior or regular lite shaft composition will do the trick. Playing a softer compression golf ball will also add those extra meters off the tee. Loft from 10.5 to 12 degrees is the optimum range for seniors. Playing golf regularly in the wind should be a consideration, but select a 10.5 as the lowest loft.

Playing a softer compression golf ball will add meters to the tee shot, without trying to overpower the ball. There are plenty of golf balls on the market with compression as low as 38 and others in the region of 70. They have a soft feel off the club and are great off the tee, as well as good around the greens.

We all swing the driver differently, and clubhead speed determines how far the ball will travel. Natural strength and age are variables, but hitting it around the 200-meter mark is above average. For the older seniors, 150-meters should be celebrated!

Aim for a loft driver between 10.5 to 12 degrees to make the launch easier. Seniors tend to experience a decrease in swing speed and overall flexibility compared to younger golfers. This can make it challenging to generate enough clubhead speed to generate a high, competitive launch.  A driver with an easy, repeatable launch with 10.5-12° in loft is perfect for seniors to achieve a higher launch angle with less effort.

A respectable swing speed for a golfer that's over 60 is around 71-79mph. Keep in mind everybody’s different, and what may be considered good for you may not be good for someone else.  To improve your swing speed, choose a lightweight driver that allows for control and flexibility over the shaft, balanced ball spin, a higher loft angle, as well as ample forgiveness through your stroke.

Older players should opt for a tacky grip as grip strength is reduced. A tacky grip will provide you with better traction to reduce slippage while also allowing you to relax in your applied grip pressure so that you don’t experience any muscle fatigue/soreness or general inconsistency in your swing.

You should focus more on getting the right shaft than just the driver. Make sure you have a seniors flex graphite shaft to get the most out of the slower swing speeds. With that in mind, the Callaway Rogue ST Max performed as the best driver for distance in our extensive testing and through our research process.

We believe the Callaway Rogue ST Max is the all-around best driver for senior golfers. With an easy-to-hit, AI-designed flash face that supports faster ball speeds, an improved launch angle, and equipped high launch tech, this is the best golf club driver for seniors looking to continue playing well into their golden years.

A draw bias in drivers refers to the club’s center of gravity shifting more toward the heel. With a draw-biased driver head, the reference point is altered, where a center-facing contact reacts to the “toe side” of the center of gravity; this is where you’ll find spin generated. How much draw-spin your shot creates is going to be based on how much the center of gravity has been shifted, therefore determining how great or how slight draw biases are.

Drivers for seniors will benefit older golfers, and you have plenty of options to choose from. But one driver stands out as the champion. The Callaway Golf Rogue ST Max is an exceptional tool for a slow swinger and is the best driver for seniors on the market today.

It ticks all the right boxes regarding speed, distance, and forgiveness. It is a quality driver with a confident, aspiring, and appealing look. It delivers an effortless loft and is also great value for money.

That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right driver for you. Consider your game, your needs, and your budget, and take a look at our entire list of the best drivers for seniors to make an informed decision.

Distance Matters! The 5 Best Drivers for a Senior

Regardless of age, everyone likes to hit it long and straight, right? Personally, I think it’s half the reason that we play this addicting game, we want to prove to ourselves that we can still hit bombs. There isn’t a much better feeling than making a great swing on your driver and seeing it pierce through the air and end up in the short stuff.

Thanks to advanced technology for seniors (and all players for that matter) , age doesn’t matter like it used before. Now, there is a huge selection of golf clubs and specific shafts designed for the senior player in mind. Hitting it long and straight has never been easier.

So what is the best golf driver for a senior golfer?

In this post, not only will you learn the best drivers for seniors but also how to decide which driver is right for your game.

Our Pick for Best Senior Golf Driver

  • Callaway Great Big Bertha – Best Premium Driver for Seniors
  • Taylormade Stealth 2 HD – Also Very Good Driver for Senior Golfers
  • Cleveland Launcher XL Lite Draw Driver – Best Value Driver for Seniors

5 Factors For Picking the Best Golf Driver For Seniors

Before diving into the latest and greatest technology, let’s break down the biggest factors that go into purchasing a new golf driver.

( Not quite ready for a senior driver? Head to this article instead. )

Forgiveness

The first thing to consider when choosing a new driver is the overall forgiveness . Always ask yourself, how big is the sweet spot on this thing before buying? Ultimately, you want a driver that has a ton of forgiveness and allows your mishits to still be very playable.

The worst thing you can do is get a driver that is hard to hit and has a small clubhead. When your tee offs are short or constantly in the rough, the game only gets harder. Instead, make sure your driver has a large sweet spot and plenty of forgiveness for those off center hits.

Forgiveness is almost directly correlated to clubhead size so make sure to look for 460cc (the largest allowed the by the USGA).

The second thing to think about is distance .

As you get older, your speed naturally decreases, which means it’s harder for the golf ball to travel or roll as far. Luckily, technology is reversing the aging process and making clubs that are easy to hit and still carry a long ways.

Phil Mickelson just joined the Champions Tour and is hitting it 340+ yards at age 50! Sure, Phil is God among us amateur golfers but you get the point, technology matters.

Your driver should give you tons of confidence and still allow you to hit it long and straight, regardless of age.

Next, you want to think about the loft of your driver .

While most standard men’s drivers are between 9-10.5 degrees, senior drivers usually have an extra degree or two of loft. The additional loft makes it easier to improve the launch angle even with a lower swing speed.

Too many senior golfers try to use the same loft they did in their 30s or 40s and their game suffers. Instead, opt for a driver that has at least 11 degrees of loft or more. While you might need to adjust your fairway woods based on your new driver loft, it’s well worth it.

Having the right amount of loft will help you hit it higher off the tee and ultimately longer as well. Plus, a lot of the drivers on this list also allow you to adjust the loft with a club wrench so you can test out different loft for performances.

Shaft Flex

Another factor that so many senior golfers skip out on entirely is the shaft flex. In terms of shaft flexes, there is lite (sometimes called senior), regular, stiff, and extra stiff.

Playing the wrong shaft flex is another mistake so many seniors make. Too many senior golfers try to keep playing a regular or stiff shaft , instead of opting for a senior flex shaft.

Senior flex shafts work great for golfers with a lower swing speed and help get the ball airborne. While it plays the biggest role in drivers, it’s also something that you want to think about with your irons as well.

If a driver shaft flex is too stiff, you’ll likely find it hard to square up the face and suffer a lot of wayward drives.  Don’t let your ego win when deciding between a regular or senior flex shaft !

Adjustability

Finally, don’t forget about the adjustability of your driver.

Some golfers love to be able to slide weights, add/remove weights, and adjust lofts. This is 100% personal preference but it’s something that you should think about before investing in a new driver.

No need to worry about grip as you can always add on your favorites to any driver for a few bucks.

Best Drivers for Seniors

Best Golf Driver For Seniors

Now that you know what to look for in your next driver, let’s jump into the best golf driver for seniors on the market:

1. Great Big Bertha Driver (Best Premium Driver for a Senior Golfer)

Losing out on precious distance as you get older isn’t fun but Callaway has a solution. While the new Pardaym drivers are some of the best out there, they might not be great for all senior golfers as they’re a tad heavy. But don’t worry, there is an alternative from Callaway with the  Great Big Bertha .

The Great Big Bertha drivers put Callaway on the map decades ago but their newest driver is a hit for senior golfers. The secret to this driver is the incredibly lightweight design.

Here’s how Callaway described it,  “This easy-to-swing driver is engineered with an ultra-lightweight design for unmatched distance characteristics. It’s nearly 30g lighter than a tour driver, and it’s an ideal option for golfers who want to increase their swing speed.”

best tour edge driver for seniors

That’s right, 30 grams lighter than most drivers!

But don’t worry, you won’t lose out on any accuracy either thanks to the Jailbreak Speed Frame which provides a ton of stability. Even if you gain speed with the light shaft/clubhead, you’ll still find the short grass with horizontal and torsional stable frames. That means longer and straighter drives every time you pull out the driver.

Aside from being lightweight and accurate off the tee, it’s also super forgiving thanks to the high MOI (moment of inertia) characteristics. As Callaway said,  “To increase MOI, our engineers paired a lightweight Triaxial Carbon Crown with a Forged Carbon Sole. With all this discretionary weight, our engineers moved the CG lower and deeper to enhance forgiveness while the steel soleplate makes it easier to hit a draw.”

This club is also great because it has an adjustable hosel which isn’t that common with lightweight, senior drivers. Normally manufacturers eliminate this as it adds extra weight but you can still adjust loft, lie, and flight settings (draw, neutral, or fade).

The final benefit to this senior driver is the incredibly lightweight shaft – the  UST Mamiya Helium Nanocore IP . This 50-gram shaft (regardless of which flex you choose) is high launching thanks to the low kick point. Paired with multiple loft options (including a 12-degree driver head) you should have no issue getting this ball high to optimize distance.

  • Adjustable hosel.
  • 460 cc forgiving head.
  • Three loft options available.
  • Right and left-hand options.
  • Semi-draw bias to help straighten out that slice.
  • 12-degree only available for right-handed golfers.
  • Only one stock shaft (which is common for ultra lightweight clubs).
  • Expensive – this new driver costs even more than the Paradym drivers which aren’t cheap to begin with.

Overall, it’s a good way to help you offset some distance losses even if the price is higher than most drivers. Everything about This driver also comes with a Winn Dri-Tac grip which is one of the most comfortable for seniors.

The lightweight club and shaft make this a great option for senior players who don’t want to lose out on precious distance. Plus, the adjustability makes this a great club to fit perfectly for your swing tendencies.

2. Taylormade Stealth 2 HD Driver

As you know by now, golf is easier when you can hit it longer and every yard counts. But if you’re like a lot of senior golfers you might be losing a few yards over the past few years. However, I think the new TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD driver might get you back to hitting it longer than ever.

If you played the TaylorMade Stealth from last year you know these clubs are a big switch from the previous SIM and SIM2. The Stealth 2 improves upon last year’s model in terms of technology while still keeping the red/black aesthetic. The first reason this driver is great for senior golfers is that it’s extremely forgiving (or “fargiving” as TaylorMade says in their commercials).

best tour edge driver for seniors

This club has 2X as much carbon as the previous Stealth which helps increase ball speed for longer distances. As TaylorMade said,  “Stealth 2 HD features nearly twice the amount of carbon. It is constructed using a new Carbon Reinforced Composite Ring and collectively utilizes more of the lightweight material than any driver in TaylorMade history.”

Another reason we love this driver for seniors is the 60X carbon twist face. Here’s how they described the new design.  “Building on the speed producing success of the original 60X Carbon Twist Face™, the new design features an enhanced version of Inverted Cone Technology to help maintain ball speed on off-center strikes and increase forgiveness.”

The third reason this driver is great for seniors is the draw-bias design. The engineers reconstructed the weight from the new carbon design to make it more stable and easier to hit straighter. If you struggle with a nasty slice, there is no doubt this TaylorMade driver can help you out.

While there is no sliding weight track (that’s only available in the slightly more expensive “Plus” model) you can adjust the loft with the sleeve. This allows you to add or remove loft to make sure it’s a good fit for your swing and not losing out on any distance.

Finally, the stock shaft is a Fujikura Speeder NX red shaft. This is a high launching shaft that is available in S, R, or A flex and super light weight (48–62 grams depending on flex). This will also make the driver easier to swing faster and hopefully add more distance to your long game.

  • 12-degree loft option (also 9 and 10.5).
  • Most forgiving driver of the new Stealth 2 lineup.
  • No sliding weight track.
  • Only one stock shaft option.

The 460 cc design, adjustable loft sleeve, and draw bias should make this driver a no-brainer for senior golfers.

>> You can order the Stealth 2 HD driver here or here .

3. Cleveland Launcher XL Lite Draw Driver

If you want to reduce your slice (or even hit a draw) and save money on a new driver, check out the Cleveland Launcher XL Lite Draw . As the name suggests, this driver is all about helping you hit a draw (or at least, make that slice a lot more playable).

CG LauncherXL LtDrv10.5DrwR RH

The XL Lite draw is a spinoff of their new Launcher which has an XL head for more MOI – which equals more forgiveness. It’s also lighter than the original design as they removed the adjustable hosel and is 12 grams lighter than the original.

The XL Lite Draw model has all the benefits of the XL Lite and a built-in draw bias. This will help you hit a straighter ball flight without trying to rotate your hands or make any extra swing changes.

This driver has a Project X Cypher 40 shaft that is 48 grams. It has a high launch and high spin to help you bomb it off the tee.

  • Lightweight head with a built-in draw bias.
  • XL head design for higher launch and more forgiveness than ever.
  • “Accuracy Build” it, which is a custom feature. This makes the driver one inch shorter and doesn’t include the counterbalance for even more tee ball control.
  • Only available in a right-hand model with regular or A flex.
  • Only available in 10.5 degree (they should have a 12 based on the player profile of this club).

This club is ideal for seniors and those who don’t generate as much natural swing speeds. The built-in draw bias will also help find more fairways and hopefully, easier approach shots to the green. For the price, this club is hard to beat for higher handicap players.

4. Callaway Epic Max Star

If you’re looking for a lightweight driver, the Callaway Epic Max Star is for you. Callaway did some engineering magic to make this driver an astonishing 52 grams lighter than the Epic Max driver. That is impressive!

best tour edge driver for seniors

Despite being super lightweight, the driver still has tons of great features of other Callaway drivers, making it the perfect driver for senior golfers:

  • A.I. Flash face design for maximum distance and forgiveness.
  • Jailbreak Speed Frame technology helps straighten out off center hits and improve accuracy.
  • Incredibly forgiving thanks to Triaxial Carbon toe patch with draw bias.

This driver is available in 10.5 or 12 degree loft options and is 46 inches standard length. This is a little longer than most drivers but it’s so lightweight it shouldn’t be much of a problem. It will likely take some getting used to in terms of address position though.

While the head is incredibly lightweight, they didn’t stop there. Callaway also paired this club with a UST Mamiya Attas graphite shaft. It only weighs 30 grams and has a high launch.

Plus, they even added a lightweight 25 gram Winn grip too. Overall, this is the most lightweight driver ever offered from Callaway.

  • Extremely lightweight design.
  • Draw bias to help correct slices and hit more fairways.
  • One of the lightest shafts ever. At only 36 grams and a D1 swing weight, this should help any golfer get tons of speed.
  • Too light for most golfers. Ideal for beginners and seniors who don’t have as much natural swing speed.

This club is lightweight and definitely not for everyone. If you have a moderate to fast swing stay away from this option as it has too much flex. Instead, opt for the new Rogue ST series instead.

But if you need a super lightweight club to help increase distance, this is a great option. Everything about this driver makes it easy to swing and max out your distance.

5. Cobra Golf Speedzone Xtreme Golf Driver

Cobra is always coming out with innovative golf equipment. Specifically, their new line of drivers, the Speedzone series. For senior players, we want to focus on the Speedzone Xtreme driver.

best tour edge driver for seniors

This is the lightest driver from Cobra and has a UST Helium shaft at only 55 grams. This will help create a high launch with minimal spin off the tee.

  • Ultra-clean design
  • 460cc club head size.
  • Available in 9, 10.5 and 12 degree lofts.
  • Made for golfers between 10-25 handicaps.
  • Highest MOI and most forgiving Cobra driver ever.
  • Lower CG in the clubhead makes a higher launch and lower spin driver.
  • CNC Milled Infinity Face design increased ball speed without needing to swing harder.
  • No senior flex, only light flex shaft options.
  • Lamkin Crossline grip has a lot of cords making a poor fit for seniors.

Alternate: PGX Offset Golf Driver (Best Budget)

Pinemeadow PGX Offset Driver (Men's, Right Hand, Graphite, Regular)

This 460cc clubhead is made to help you reduce your slice with it’s offset shaft settings. Best Golf Driver for a Senior Golfer

Do you have more questions about finding the best driver for seniors? If so, we got answers on the right drivers for seniors!

What loft driver should seniors use?

Most seniors should use a driver loft of at least 11 degrees. While some players might get away with 10 or 10.5 if they still have a higher swing speed, most golfers should between 11-13 degrees.

This additional 1-3 degrees makes it easier for senior players to hit it high off the tee and get an extra 5-15 yards of carry. The extra distance can play a huge factor when hitting into par 4s and turn a hybrid into a mid iron instead.

If you’re looking to play your best golf, make sure you have plenty of loft as you get older!

What is the longest driver for seniors?

Distance, distance, distance.

That’s the #1 focus in the golf world (thanks Bryson) and it’s making some iconic courses becoming obsolete. But distance is very important, especially as you get older.

Distance wise, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the five drivers from above. All of them have the latest technology to make it easier for seniors to gain distance even with a slower swing speed. Plus, they all have high MOI settings built in which means more forgiveness and straighter shots.

What is the average swing speed of a senior golfer?

According to a study done by My TPI , the average speed for 50-60 year old golfers is between 72-86 mph . For golfers above 60 years old, it’s between 71-79mph .

Remember, speed is bound to slow down as you get older but with the right technology, it doesn’t have to affect your distance. Keep upgrading your clubs and each shaft to notice less of an effect on the course.

Senior Golf Driver

What is the best driver for slow swing speed?

If you have a lower swing speed it’s not specifically the driver that matters as much as the shaft and loft. With a lower swing speed, you want a driver that has plenty of shaft flex. The stiffer the flex, the more speed is required. This is why most club manufacturers make a senior (or A flex or lite flex) to help with decreased swing speed.

Plus, you want to consider the amount of loft of the club. The lower the swing speed, the harder it is to get the ball airborne. This is why you want to invest in a driver with more loft (11-12 degrees), so you can get it flying high without trying to get more clubhead speed.

What type of grip should seniors use?

This is another great question as your grip plays a huge role in making consistent contact with your driver. For seniors, you want to make sure that you have a golf grip that is comfortable and soft.

Usually, I would suggest staying away from full cord grips as they’re much firmer and harder to grip. Instead, I would recommend using rubber grips (like Winn grips) as they’re a lot easier to grip throughout the round.

Plus, don’t forget about the size of the grip as well. If you suffer from arthritis or don’t have the grip strength you once did, opt for a larger grip. If you’re playing standard grips, try out midsize and see how that impacts your grip pressure.

Ultimately, you want a driver grip that allows you to comfortably grip the club without adding tension in your forearms.

Final Thoughts on Best Golf Drivers

So what is the best driver for seniors?

As you can tell, there are so many great options for senior golfers  making the game more enjoyable than ever. Remember, as you get older your speed will decrease (sorry guys) but that doesn’t mean you have to lose distance.

Instead of playing your old, outdated driver that’s too heavy, too stiff of flex, and not enough loft, make the switch. Play a driver that fits your new swing speed (plus ball speed ) and I promise, you won’t regret the decision.

When choosing your new driver, make sure it has at least 11 degrees of loft and a light flex shaft. This alone will help you hit it longer and straighter without making adjustments to your swing. Then, pick the brand you like (as each clubhead has a different style) and start swinging.

Finally, don’t forget to make sure that your grip is comfortable for your hands. A lot of stock options are cord style which aren’t suited for senior players so plan accordingly. A lot of golfer will want to opt for a rubber and/or larger grip to make it easier on your hands.

Understanding the Needs of Senior Golfers

Golf is a sport enjoyed by people of all ages, but as we get older, our bodies change, and so do our golfing needs. Seniors require golf clubs that are easy to swing, lightweight, and forgiving on mishits. Therefore, choosing the best golf clubs for seniors requires careful consideration.

For seniors, the best golf clubs are those that provide maximum distance and accuracy, while also being easy on the joints. Senior golf clubs reviews suggest that graphite shafts are the preferred choice for elderly players, as they are lighter and less stiff than steel shafts, reducing the risk of injury.

Another factor to consider when choosing golf clubs for elderly players is the flex. Senior golfers typically have slower swing speeds than younger players, and therefore require more flex in their clubs to create the necessary power. This extra flex allows older adults to achieve better performance, even with a slower swing.

Lastly, forgiveness is a crucial aspect of golf clubs for seniors, allowing for mishits and misalignments without sacrificing accuracy. Clubs with larger heads and wider sweet spots provide more forgiveness and are better suited for older players.

By understanding the needs of senior golfers, you can make an informed decision when choosing golf clubs that will improve your game and enhance your overall golfing experience.

Review Summary:

Callaway Big Bertha drivers have been a mainstay in the golf scene for many years, and its latest model is fully equipped with the latest AI technology that’s sure to please Callaway’s most avid supporters.

Apart from being an ideal driver for seniors, the BB21 is one of the best anti-slice drivers for 2021, aimed specifically at players who habitually slice the ball.

It provides excellent forgiveness and distance while allowing the ball to travel down the fairway rather than across as many slicers usually experience.

What makes this driver worth getting is that it comes with all the state-of-the-art technology found in Mavrik Drivers, also by Callaway.

The ample amount of oversized and offset clubhead stirs confidence at address. Finally, the adjustability of the loft in the hosel allows you to add or remove loft according to your preference.

If you’re a senior golfer who wants a consistent and steady driver in your bag, the Cleveland Launcher Turbo is an excellent choice.

Known as one of the top wedge manufacturers in the industry, Cleveland has since expanded to other products. It now offers one of the most underrated drivers in the market today, one that suits every kind of skill level there is.

The latest model of HB Turbo drivers comes fully equipped with high-tech gear. For instance, an Ultralight Hosel and a redesigned HiBore Crown added to the Turbocharged cup face provide the 460cc head a powerful and confidence-boosting look.

Once you try this out on the field, you’ll find yourself falling slightly behind when it comes to distance. However, the Turbocharged features on this driver have shown excellent results in terms of ball speed.

Overall, this club isn’t difficult to hit and provides plenty of launch and great distance. Many can attest that you won’t go wrong with Cleveland as their technology is one of the most accurate in the market.

The Radspeed XB (Xtreme Back) is designed for golfers seeking distance through consistency across the face in the form of forgiveness and stability – a characteristic that the best golf driver for seniors must provide.

It has a more extensive address profile, 20g of weight in the rear (14g fixed and 6g configurable), and 8g of fixed weight in the front, making it Cobra’s most forgiving driver to date.

Arguably, it’s the best among the drivers in this lineup because of how forgiving it remains to be while managing to produce relatively low spin. The glossy finish on the crown may not be to everyone’s taste, but in terms of overall playability at a reasonable price, the Radspeed XB is difficult to match.

The Wilson Staff D9 Driver was created using computer modeling software that simulated hundreds of clubhead configurations to discover the most effective design.

It boasts of a three-layer composite crown, which helps to minimize vibration and reduce the club’s weight.

A 10-gram sole weight is standard, but a super-lightweight 3-gram weight is also available. It provides you the ability to adjust and fine-tune the moment of inertia and forgiveness on offer.

The letter “E” in its name stands for extreme, which relates to extreme game development, and aims to be one of the top drivers for high handicappers as well. As a result, it has an appealing yet typical appearance at address that many golfers may covet, plus a shallow-faced clubhead with classic shaping.

Ball flight, sound, and accuracy are all excellent, especially when struck out of the screws. Even if you’re a low-ball hitter, expect a soaring and towering ball flight. And given its asking price, it’s a no-brainer for budget-conscious golfers with a slow to moderate swing speed.

The “Houdini” sole distributes weight low and deep in the head, allowing you to launch the ball high and with forgiveness. That’s why Tour Edge bills this as the “easiest driver you’ll ever hit” on their website.

Some Factors to Consider When Choosing the Best Driver for Seniors

The shaft that comes with the club will most likely correspond to the price you pay for your driver. The more expensive drivers typically come with more shaft weight and material options, and they are usually pre-equipped with high-performance shafts to help improve your game.

The club’s weight is a gamechanger, especially for seniors. But, it isn’t reasonable to put all senior golfers into the same category as some will swing their club faster than others, just like any other age group.

Make sure to determine your swing speed so you can choose the optimal shaft for your game, whether it’s incredibly light and flexible or a little firmer and with a more regular flex to achieve that extra bit of distance for players with a faster swing.

Adjustability

While some players prefer a consistent loft value, it never hurts to have more options to choose from, and modifying the adjustable head on your driver can be a quick and effective way to cure a slice or a hook. Keep in mind that most of the better drivers in the market come with an adjustable head.

As a senior golfer, you’ll benefit from a higher degree of loft than other players. This kind of loft will allow you to achieve a better launch trajectory and overall distance on your drives.

The recommended degree of loft is at least 12 degrees to accommodate a slower swing speed, but this will always be a matter of personal preference for any golfer.

In this world, you usually get what you pay for, and based on what we’ve experienced over the years, this is also true for golf.

As you enter your senior years, you’ll have a lot more time to play golf and, hopefully, have some money to invest in quality equipment as well.

Make no mistake, price isn’t the indicator of being the best driver for seniors. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with more affordable models. However, walking out into the course with equipment that has added-value features, which costs a bit more, can make you feel better about your game.

Key Takeaways

As a senior golfer, you need to consider forgiveness, distance, and feel when choosing a new driver. Typically, your swings start to slow down as you age.

The best driver for seniors on the market today can help you get some of this distance back and start playing the game the way you want to again.

It’s a fact that not all senior golfers are the same. While some are still new to the game and are just starting to take on a new hobby after retirement, others are already experienced players with mid to low handicaps looking for slightly different things from their driver.

Whatever type of golfer you identify yourself as, we have collated the top drivers for seniors in this list.

Hot Launch E524 Driver

Hot Launch E524 Driver

Description.

The Extreme Game Improvement Hot Launch E524 Driver is designed to be the easiest driver to hit in the market for slower to medium swing speeds. Every aspect of the E524 is focused on improving launch and accuracy. The 460cc Titanium driver is incredibly stable at impact thanks to its extreme Moment of Inertia (MOI) properties.

The technology built into the E524 Driver is all about easy launch, consistent playability, and maximum forgiveness across the entire face.

Houdini Sole Technology - The Houdini Sole includes an area of mass concentrated on the trailing edge of the sole of the clubhead, as well as a curved leading edge under the face. This unique and patented design creates more area to put extra mass, allowing Tour Edge engineers to precisely position weight in the head for an ultra-low and deep Center of Gravity, optimizing launch conditions and greatly improving stability.

Ridgeback Technology – TE engineers have brought the Ridgeback Tech concept from Exotics to Hot Launch on the E524 Driver with a Ridgeback rail on the crown. The Ridgeback rail provides increased structural properties that help produce more power across the entire face, including the extreme perimeters. The Ridgeback activation is also utilized as a unique alignment aid at address.

High Moment of Inertia – The weight of the Houdini Sole strategically placed to the extreme rear of the clubhead places more mass at the extreme trailing edge of the clubhead.

The back weight creates an extremely high MOI rating that surpasses 5,000 grams per cubic centimeter squared for top in-line stability. This weighting dramatically affects a lower and deeper CG positioning of the club for ease of launch and more forgiveness off the face at impact.

Diamond Face VFT - Diamond Face VFT technology is a breakthrough in face technology that features 36 different thick and thin diamond shapes or “mini-trampolines” behind the face. Diamond Face VFT produces a hotter face with faster ball speeds and better performance on off-center hits, as well as reduced spin.

Heel Weighted Slice-Fighting Offset Design - Offset designs are combined with a heel sole weight to provide the ultimate in slice fighting technology. The offset design of the E524 Driver added with a heel sole weight allows the face to square up at impact for straighter ball flight. The strategically placed heel draw-bias weighting of the E Series offset designs are engineered to help golfers avoid the right side of the course and to increase launch.

Ultra-Light Premium Shafts – The E524 Driver comes stock with an ultralight ALDILA ASCENT PL (Performance Light) graphite shaft. What does it do? The ALDILA ASCENT PL provides lightweight performance with faster club head speeds without sacrificing feel. ASCENT PL technology is designed to resist ovaling, keeping the club head in position and creating more center-face contact. ALDILA ASCENT PL is best for golfers seeking lightweight performance and additional speed without sacrificing stability.

Best Golf Drivers For Seniors 2024

Looking for a new driver suited to slower swing speeds and senior golfers? The best golf drivers for seniors 2024 have been picked out.

Recommending drivers for seniors isn’t as straight forward as it might seem. While certain drivers fit certain groups of golfers such as high handicappers or low handicappers , senior golfers encompass a wide range of abilities.

A senior golfer could be someone who is still an elite player shooting par every second round or it could be a total beginner just picking up a set of clubs for the first time.

What is common to all seniors is that their swings are getting slower and the ball isn’t going as far. And while the obvious solution is to switch to a more flexible shaft, the type of driver can also prove to be extremely beneficial or even some senior golfer swing tips .

Here’s our best golf drivers for seniors for the year ahead:

Ping G425 Max Driver

Ping G425 Max Driver

In truth, the Ping G425 Max is a club for every golfer. No matter what level a senior is at, they will find a benefit in the unparalleled forgiveness the G425 Max has to offer.

The driver enjoys Ping’s highest ever Moment of Inertia (MOI) giving it forgiveness, although that has since been surpassed by the new G430 driver .

Advancements in the driver’s Dragonfly crown technology have resulted in weight savings and a 26-gram moveable tungsten weight, again adding to the forgiveness. This shifting weight can also be set to fade, neutral or draw bias to suit all golfers’ needs.

Maximising distance is key for Seniors. The Ping G425 Max helps achieve this by keeping the ball in play and on the fairway.

Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver

Callaway Great Big Bertha Driver

Unfortunately for the Great Big Bertha , it is often overshadowed by Callaway’s Rogue ST and Paradym range. Despite this, the Great Big Bertha has a huge amount to offer, especially to Seniors and players with slower swing speeds.

It is Callaway’s most technologically advanced driver, marrying an ultra-lightweight chassis with an easy-to-swing design designed to increase clubhead speed and distance.

A forged Carbon Sole and Triaxial Carbon Crown increase MOI while the Jailbreak Speed Frame allows for higher ball speeds. Finally, its A.I. Designed Flash Face allows for lower spin resulting in more distance.

While the Great Big Bertha is a superb option for Seniors, it doesn’t come cheap.

Cleveland Launcher XL 2 Driver

Cleveland Launcher XL 2 Driver

Looking at the Cleveland Launcher XL 2 , it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what the XL means… Extra Large! And this is the new second generation for 2024.

The original  Launcher XL drivers  featured XL, XL Lite and XL Lite Draw, but this time there is just the XL 2 and XL 2 Draw models in the new 2024 range.

AI-machine learning has been used in the new design, specifically on enhancing the performance of the MainFrame XL variable face and Rebound Frame for more distance and greater accuracy.

Cleveland’s development team have tweaked the face thickness in various spots to ensure the areas where most golfers strike from perform better off the tee with better energy transfer in the new package.

The clubhead has been altered with a lightweight thin crown saving weight and allowing the center of gravity to be positioned low and deep. The result is a higher ball flight for more carry and distance, as well as more speed through the air.

Mizuno ST-Z 220 Driver

Mizuno ST-Z 220 Driver

Mizuno are known for the quality of their irons but they do a fine job when it comes to their drivers too.

The ST-Z 220 is an easy-to-hit, high-launch club that will benefit mid-low handicapped seniors with slower swing speeds.

It features a new Multi-Thickness Cortech Face Structure improving ball speeds across the clubface. The Z Axis Design encourages a straight-line flight and an Optimized Wave Sole Plate contributes to higher ball speeds.

On the downside, the ST-Z is only available in 9.5 degrees for left handers and 9 and 10.5 degrees for right handers though players can adjust the loft by +/- two degrees…and has now been replaced by the ST-Z 230 driver .

Tour Edge Exotics E722 Driver

Tour Edge Exotics E722 Driver

Although Tour Edge are best known for selling value clubs and sets, senior golfers should take note of their Exotics E722 is among the best golf drivers for seniors.

Seniors looking for a new driver to recover some of that lost distance should look at the six drivers above, especially the lighter clubs. The less weight, the more speed and, more importantly, the more distance.

The driver was designed with feedback from its senior tour pros, including Bernhard Langer and has been described as “an ultra-premium forgiveness driver that takes MOI to the extreme”.

Thanks to a 30-gram back weight, Ridgeback Technology, Carbon Wrap Tech and Diamond Face VFT, Tour Edge have created a club for senior golfers, by senior golfers.

Wilson D9 Driver

Wilson D9 Driver

Wilson are another often overlooked brand in golf and one very well suited to senior golfers. As well as being a beautiful club, the D9 is also very simple with a fixed head.

It features a large, sweet spot for forgiveness on off-centre strikes while the Peak Kinetic Response Face optimises forgiveness and ball speed.

It is light with a low centre of gravity allowing for faster club head speeds and distance. The three-layer [K]COMPOSITE CROWN made from Kevlar and carbon fibre ensures a solid feel and acoustics.

The driver is available in 9, 10.5 and a very welcomed 13 degrees which should benefit seniors struggling to get the ball into the air off the tee. The Wilson D9 also costs a lot less than other drivers by major manufacturers.

Tour Edge E723 Driver

As a mid-priced driver for mid-to-high handicaps, this offers a lot of value. The adjustability for loft and draw bias is convenient, and the aesthetics are top notch. Just take an easy swing, and this driver will handle the rest.

Tour Edge C723 Driver

We found this to be a pleasingly powerful driver, with distance, performance, feel and ball flight comparable to pricier models on the market. Its attractive look also garnered attention from other golfers.

Tour Edge Exotics E722 Driver

The E722 is a fantastic driver. Even our low-handicap golfers thought it out-performed its sister C722, designed for more advanced players. The look is similar, although slightly larger.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Irons

This set is a no-brainer for higher handicaps to consider when buying. This category of golfers should find everything appealing about the irons, right down to the feel, performance, distance and price.

Tour Edge C723 Irons

Our expert review:

Specifications

Reasons to buy, reasons to avoid.

The Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 is an incredible driver that delivers excellent results at a competitive price point which could potentially compete with the best drivers on the market.

Aesthetically, the C524 is a great-looking driver. The ridgeback technology not only provides increased structural integrity to the clubhead—it also frames the ball beautifully with the 'ridge' providing a handy alignment aid. Plus, the carbon effect really creates a premium feel to the finish.

Technology? Let's start with Tour Edge’s Diamond Face VFT technology. This features 35 different diamond shapes that essentially act as “mini-trampolines” behind the face to increase ball speed. a sole rail design extends from the leading to trailing edge which lowers the CG to increase launch and ball speed.

How does it feel? The C524 produced a lively and solid thud with a reasonably high-pitched impact noise. It wasn't too high, but it was noticeably higher Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Family  or the TaylorMade Qi10 range .

The combination of solid performance, an excellent aesthetic and a premium make the Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 a great driver at a remarkably modest price. We think there's some serious value here and would therefore recommend it as best drivers for beginners we've tried.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Driver

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Driver

The “E” in its name stands for Extreme Spec, meaning it’s designed to help average golfers to the extreme. This ultra-premium 460cc driver is also crammed with technology, such as an extreme low-and-rear CG position that produces an extremely high MOI of 5600 g/cm2 – that’s the highest MOI driver Tour Edge has ever made, making it one of the  most forgiving drivers  around.

There are also multiple other technological aspects, like a Flight Tuning System and thin titanium ridgeback spine running from the center of the face through the crown which, in testing, produced an easy to flight trajectory, as well as a solid impact sound and long distance.

Along with the performance, the E723 has a very long crown from face to rear, with the graphics of the crown, a black stripe down the middle flanked by a weaved dark graphite pattern, framing the ball nicely. Overall, we thought it was pleasing to the eye, especially as the face seems nice and tall and the clubhead felt rather substantial through our swing.

Tour Edge Exotics C723 Driver

Tour Edge Exotics C723 Driver Review

Whereas the E in the E723 stands for Extreme Spec, the C in the C723 stands for Competition Spec, meaning this driver is for more advanced players. Despite this, out of the box, we found it to be one of the most adjustable player’s drivers on the market, with this low-spin model loaded with tech.

We thought the aesthetics were stealthy and attractive to look at when addressed behind the ball. The darker band down the middle nicely frames the alignment you want to swing through, with the thin titanium ridgeback spine running from the center of the face and crown.

Performance-wise, we found there to be a lot of adjustability options and, when we swapped the standard 5-gram front and 15-gram rear weights, it resulted in a change of around 300rpm of spin. We could also slide the rear CG weight to one of five positions which influenced a fade or draw up to seven yards. On the course, this driver felt extremely solid with respect to feel and impact sound - a box that all the  best golf drivers  tick.

Tour Edge Exotics E722 Driver

Tour Edge Exotics E722 Driver Review

The Tour Edge Exotics E722 driver was designed to offer golfers the ultimate in playability and forgiveness. Keying that performance is a low, deep CG placement that has been made possible by a lightweight carbon fiber crown and a 30-gram fixed weight in the back of the sole. That combination offers incredibly high MOI, which results in more accurate golf shots regardless of strike location.

Do not assume, however, that the E722 driver is a one-trick pony. Certainly, the forgiveness it provides is a standout feature, but this driver also delivers when it comes to ball speed. Tour Edge’s Diamond Face VFT clubface design utilizes 61 diamond-shaped sections that vary in thickness. The diamonds, which Tour Edge says act as mini trampolines, deliver consistent ball speeds from strike locations across the clubface.

Tour Edge also has worked hard to improve the sound and feel of the E722 driver by utilizing an internal ribbing system to diffuse sound at impact. Additionally, while the E722 might be described as a game improvement driver, it also offers the customization that better players want. The E722’s adjustable sleeve features eight settings that allow golfers to adjust loft by +/- 2 degrees and lie angle by 3 degrees to help anyone achieve exactly what they’re looking for in terms of launch, spin, and shot shape.

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Iron

Tour Edge Exotics E723 Iron Review

The E723 is an ultra-premium, very sleek-looking,  game-improvement iron  that is loaded with technology. The most notable aspect of technology is Tour Edge's VIBRCOR – which is a TPU that’s strategically injected into the hollow body, deep 360-degree undercut pocket to provide excellent feel.

In testing, we were extremely impressed with the forgiveness on offer. Regardless of where the ball was struck, the VIBRCOR on the back of the clubhead and the Diamond Face VFT, which comprises 92 diamond shapes of three different thicknesses behind the face, meant it was extremely lively on the expanded sweet spot.

At address, we thought that the look was very confidence-inspiring. Most notably, there’s a slight bulge low and an inviting amount of offset, with a thick topline also giving freedom to swing hard at the ball. In testing, it was super easy to hit and the shots got airborne with distance very well.

Tour Edge Exotics C723 Iron

Tour Edge Exotics C723 Iron Review

The C723 also features VIBRCOR technology like we see in the E723, but the C723 is designed for the slightly more confident ball striker, with the most notable differences being the smaller clubhead, thinner top line and shorter blade length.

We found it still had full-face forgiveness and ball speed though, with the Diamond Face VFT also present throughout. Again, in testing, the impact experience was certainly very addictive, with the ball springing off the face with a powerful yet subtle sensation. Importantly, it was not too loud or harsh and we thought it was comparable with the  best compact mid-handicap irons .

As mentioned, it is slightly smaller at address, but Tour Edge have constructed the C723 out of high-strength, military grade maraging steel. This helps make way for a significantly thinner face, the thinnest in any Exotics iron ever and also helped dramatically increase face flex across a larger surface area of the clubface. This meant we were able to eke out a lot of distance when struck properly.

How we test Tour Edge golf clubs

Here at Golf Monthly, we employ a rigorous testing procedure when reviewing any product on our website. All of our writers are experienced golfers who know and understand how to use golf equipment and can ably analyze the benefits and drawbacks of any product. Essentially, we look to test gear to help you make the most informed decision when purchasing a set of clubs or a pair of golf shoes. Specifically, when it comes to the best Tour Edge golf clubs, we look to test each club in a variety of conditions on and off the course to give us the best possible insight into what that club offers.

Whether we're testing a driver or a putter, we will look to assess the benefits and features each club offers to understand who it is best suited to. We test each club out on the course too, in order to give us accurate readings on the distance it offers, how much spin we can put on each club and the general feel of the ball against the clubface. One thing to note is that we only use premium golf balls when testing new golf clubs and that manufacturers cannot buy a good review.

What to consider when purchasing Tour Edge golf clubs

When buying any golf club, there are many different aspects to consider before you make your purchase. From the length of the club to the type of grip on offer, it can sometimes be an overwhelming choice, which you need to think carefully about to get the right golf clubs that will help you perform on the course. For that reason, we've set out a handy list of points that will help you make the most informed decision, when purchasing your next set of Tour Edge golf clubs.

No matter what golf club you're buying, you need to get the right length of club for your height and swing. If you buy a club that is too long for you, there is a greater chance that you might hit the ball fat. Too short, and you're more likely to top the ball. For that reason, it is always wise to test each golf club before you buy it, and use our handy height guide to establish which length is right for you.

One great thing about Tour Edge is that they produce clubs for every type of golfer, from professionals right down to beginners. But it is important to make sure you're buying the right club for your abilities. Obviously, it is no good for junior or beginner golfers to be playing with forged irons that have little forgiveness. Cavity-backed irons are much more suitable for these kinds of players as they are a lot more forgiving than forged or bladed irons. For that reason, make sure you pick the right irons that are going to improve your game, not hinder it.

Loft and shaft flex

This pertains mostly to drivers but is also important for your long irons too. Having the right shaft flex on your clubs can seriously help you to strike the ball longer and further. That depends on your swing speed and if you have a low swing speed you're better off using a more flexible club shaft, while faster swingers are better off using a stiffer club shaft. Equally when it comes to driver loft, those with faster swing speeds are better off picking a driver with a lower loft, while slower players should opt for higher lofts to help them flight the ball better.

Mallet or blade?

When it comes to picking the right putter for you, you want to think about how much forgiveness you want to get from your flatstick. Mallet putters offer way more leeway on miss-hit shots than bladed putters, but slightly less feel and control. For that reason, mallets are better for beginner golfers who may be less experienced around the greens.

Budget is always a big factor you should consider when buying any golf club and our advice is to not always go with the most expensive offering on the market. Yes, if you are an experienced golfer looking to break into single digits, you may want to spend a little extra than someone just starting out in the game to get a top-quality set of clubs. But our advice is to always make a note of your budget before heading to the shop and to shop around as much as you can. That way you can secure yourself the best deal for the right clubs for you.

Speaking of shopping around, have you had a look at some of our other guides on the best golf manufacturers? Check out our guides on the best Callaway golf clubs , best Taylormade golf clubs and best Titleist golf clubs .

Are Tour Edge golf clubs any good?

Many golf enthusiasts might not know that Tour Edge has been around since 1986, and the company has been making excellent golf clubs for quite some time. Tour Edge first gained acclaim for its fairway wood products, which have had a loyal following for decades now. But it also made an early splash in the hybrid market as those clubs became more popular, and in recent years its drivers and irons have started to enjoy more mainstream popularity. Tour Edge also has become increasingly successful in recent years because it develops golf equipment to meet the needs of players of all ability levels and its products always offer tremendous value at their price points

Do any PGA players use Tour Edge clubs?

Tour Edge has a strong and growing presence in professional golf, especially on the PGA Tour Champions, where players such as Bernhard Langer, Scott McCarron, Tom Lehman, Alex Cjeka, and Mike Weir are brand ambassadors. In all, Tour Edge reports that its clubs have been put in play by 135 different players on the three PGA Tours since 2018, with its clubs being a part of 16 victories and more than 90 top-5 finishes during that span. As for which Tour Edge clubs get the most play on Tour, the company’s fairway woods would garner that distinction. But its driver and irons are growing in popularity as well.

Is it better to buy a set of clubs or buy them individually?

This depends on what you want from your golf equipment. Beginner golfers and those getting into the game may be better off buying a set of golf clubs to get a full range of golf clubs for good value. But those who may be more experienced in the game may want to mix and match clubs and use a selection of golf clubs from different manufacturers.
