VISIT EL AYUDANTE

El Ayudante utilizes short-term mission teams to develop long-term partnerships with local community leaders to help bring about tangible change in the areas of education, medicine, construction, and training. We hosted our first mission team in September of 2002. Since then over 8000 short-term missionaries from all over the world have come to Nicaragua with El Ayudante.

Mission teams are provided with an itinerary, meals, translators, and transportation, and our 31-acre campus provides a safe and comfortable hub of ministry that will accommodate two mission teams simultaneously and up to 75 missionaries in four dormitories. Each dormitory has a bathroom with individual showers and is served by a central kitchen, dining area, laundry room, pantry, and offices. A veranda and rancho are favorite places to relax and reflect on each day’s experiences.

Christian Mission Trips to Nicaragua

Serving communities in central america for jesus, mission work & impact.

Nicaragua 2 1 4f1703fb

God is so for us and He’s ready to ignite us into our callings. Imagine Rocky (we know, old reference!) jumping around the ring, getting hype, yelling,

“Let’s do this! You ready!?”,

But the question is… are we ready?

We get so lost in ourselves sometimes that we miss the blessings of a God who wants to lavish us in His love.

So if you’ve been waiting for the sign – here it is. Jump in with us and let’s head to Nicaragua!

Check out one of our main partners at Reap Granada , and let’s see what God wants to do!

What does ministry look like in Nicaragua?

Our partner, Reap Granada hosts sports leagues for soccer, kickball, softball, volleyball and basketball with a vision to share the Gospel after the games. The ultimate heart behind the programs is to create relationships through sports and then nurture the friendships with discipleship classes and invite them to love Jesus! It’s a beautiful outreach that connects with the community and provides a safe place for families to gather.

Here’s a sneak peek at some potential ministry opportunities besides the sports outreach:

  • Impactful evangelism and discipleship
  • Visiting jails and hospitals
  • Participating in prayer walks
  • Street evangelism
  • Assist with farming projects
  • Leading worship and Bible studies

Nicaragua 3 1 f5f74723

Here’s what ministry in Guatemala could look like:

  • Spreading the Word Partner hand in hand with devoted local believers who desire to see the name of Jesus made known among the nations!
  • Youth Outreach Build impactful connections with local youth, contributing to initiatives that combat gang violence, while developing friendships with the families connected to our soccer academy outreach.
  • Community Initiatives Join our efforts in church planting, join in on intimate worship with the Lord, and inspiring mentorship, all working together to tackle the challenge of fatherlessness and create lasting impact.
  • Social Welfare You’ll not only participate in feeding programs and maybe even help plant a prayer garden, but you’ll also venture into the heart of remote villages to serve and love folks!

nicaragua country 1 645680b5

Straight from the field

“He’s diving into these places of my heart that I didn’t know existed. He’s asking tough questions and it’s breaking me in half but I’m more alive in dying to myself, than I ever was in living. I’ve been mad and confused, felt fiercely loved and ferociously fought for. I’ve depended on Him more than I’ve depended on breathing and I can’t get enough. It’s crazy good and if this is just a taste of what the rest of our lives look like loving Jesus back then I’m in.”

Giving away my water for a water fight, this is ministry. Playing “don’t let the balloon touch the floor,” this is ministry. Learning Spanish, this is ministry. Helping the ladies pick mangoes from random trees on the street, this is ministry. Teaching English, this is ministry. Planning 6:30am workouts, this is ministry. Sorting the produce donations on Monday mornings, this is ministry. Handing out aguapanela con pan, this is ministry. Leading the women’s ministry lesson, this is ministry. Eating raw potatoes with a new friend, this is ministry. Playing no hands in the back of the cargo truck, this is ministry. Hugging people good morning, this is ministry. Dancing with kids, this is ministry. Anything you do to love and live like Jesus, this is ministry.

Your ministry is where you are, it’s how you represent Jesus, it’s how you love others, it’s how you treat others, your life is ministry- if you let Jesus work in you and through you.

Let every moment of your life be a moment to serve Jesus and serve others.

Let your life be a ministry that reflects Jesus and the salvation He offers each one of us.”

Eutiva, D Squad (Mission)

Mission Trips

Feed the poor.

Experience the blessings God has for you as the "giver" by giving food to those who desperately need it.

Clothe the Needy

Enjoy giving extra clothes you have brought or shipped down to the less fortunate.

Evangelize the Communities

Spreading the Gospel with literature through towns can be tough when you don't know the language, but we believe it will strengthen your faith by letting God's Word do the talking

See the Country from a Unique Perspective

During your free time, you can schedule times to see the beautiful land of Nicaragua and to experience the local culture. Nicaragua has it all- beautiful beaches, a massive volcano, and many local markets.

Participate in Sports Outreach

The most popular sport is Nicaragua is baseball. However, the Nicaraguans are also interested in a variety of other well-known sports such as basketball and soccer. Sports outreach can be a magnificent tool to build a bond with the locals before sharing the Gospel with them.

Bond with Other Christians

Come partner with fellow Christians to help change lives! You will not return home as the same person because the work that you will participate in will have an eternal impact on both yourself and those around you. To see God working in another country will change your life forever.

Serve in and with Local Church Ministries in a Third World Environment

Get to know Christian brothers and sisters in Nicaragua by serving in music, preaching, games, or worship. Being a part of God's church, wherever you are, is eternally rewarding.

Construction Work

Buildings are a part of a growing church community. We seem to have ongoing building needs that give construction workers many opportunities.

Leave for Managua

Depart for USA

The community of Cristo Rey is located about 30 minutes outside of the capital city, Managua. And the Matagalpa dump is located near the Mission House in Matagalpa. These communities are very poor and are built next to the large city dumps that are continually burning the trash that is deposited there daily. Many residents, adults and children alike, visit the dump every day to find metals, plastic, and other items they can salvage to make money with. Due to the poor conditions and lack of money and food, many of the people you will see have blonde highlights in their hair because of malnutrition.

We take groups to the Cristo Rey, Matagalpa, and Diriamba dumpsites to feed the people, share a Gospel story, and play with the children. This is a fun and eye-opening experience to participate in. If you know how to smile, laugh, and do basic sign language/Spanish the kids will love you – they’ll love you even more if you play soccer!

Feeding Families at the Children’s Hospital

There is only one Children’s Hospital located in the country of Nicaragua, and this hospital has limited housing for families to stay in while their children are being treated. Due to the lack of space, many families are forced to sleep outside and go without food while they are there.

We take groups to the hospital, where you will have the opportunity to feed families and someone will share a gospel presentation. On some occasions groups are permitted to go inside the hospital and visit the children, pray with them, and give them toys and candy. However, due to the nature of the hospital, not every group is allowed to do this.

School Visits to la Granja Community & Matagalpa Elementary & High Schools

We are able to visit the schools in Matagalpa and the la Granja community to teach Bible stories, do crafts, lead game activities, and play with the younger children there. Here you will have the opportunity to have one-on-one interaction with students.

Support Local Churches with Outreach Programs.

We desire to help churches grow in their faith and in numbers by supporting them in outreach into their communities. Your group will have the opportunity to partner with local churches and/or church plants to help them as they have a ministry in their towns. You will be able to help with different programs such as:

Sports: Baseball league, soccer league, etc.

Music: You can help develop their choir or teach them how to play an instrument.

Outreach Meeting in Public Areas: Passing out tracts, Bible stories, preaching

English Class: Your team can come specifically to teach free English classes

Children’s meetings: VBS, etc.

Construction Projects

Your group could also help with construction projects at Global Bible University or at local churches. These projects could range anywhere from remodeling a church room to building tables and benches for seating. We also seek to be a blessing to the community in Matagalpa/Diriamba and to needy families who are unable to fix issues around their homes. Some projects would include:

Churches: remodeling, painting, building furniture, etc.

Community: Little houses, roofing, painting, etc.

GBU Property: faculty houses, foundation, walls, landscape, etc.

On your mission trip, you will experience accelerated discipleship and learn to know and follow God in a deeper and more meaningful way. Be humble. Have faith. Trust Him. Take courage.

We pray that you will join the Project Hope Worldwide sponsorship family and invest in a child from one of our Hope Projects. As a child sponsor, nothing compares to seeing the child you love and pray for in person.

Once we’ve selected the right trip together, we’ll guide you through registration, acquiring travel documents, spiritual and safety training, fundraising, team planning, and how to involve your community.

Traveling with an experienced team leader, you’ll work alongside our trusted local staff members and partners. You’ll see evidence of hope restored as you meet our kids and see what God has done in their lives.

Nicaragua Mission Trip

Nicaragua is the largest of the Central American republics and is characterized by its agricultural economy and history of autocratic government. Almost all settlement and economic activity are concentrated in the western half of the country. The country’s name is derived from Nicarao, chief of the indigenous people living around present-day Lake Nicaragua during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. Nicaragua has a unique history in that it was the only country in Latin America to be colonized by both the Spanish and the British. Nicaragua’s population is made up mostly of mestizos (people of mixed European and indigenous ancestry). The national capital is Managua, which also is the country’s largest city and home to about one-sixth of the population.

The Corn Islands consist of the Great Corn Island (often simply referred to as Corn Island), with an area of 3.9 sq miles, and Little Corn Island, with an area of 1.1 sq miles. The total area is 5.0 square miles.
