Languages spoken: Maltese is the official language. English is widely spoken in all major tourist areas

Malta is a great place to visit year-round. The hottest period is between July and September when temperatures average around 30C but they can rise to 40C in August. Spring and autumn are very pleasant seasons with temperatures in the low 20Cs. Even in winter, Malta averages around 15C, although it gets more rain at this time of year.

Airport transfers are available with Emirates Holidays. Public transportation is reasonably priced. A very efficient bus service operates within Malta.

The main bus terminus is in Valetta, from where the buses go to practically every part of the Island.

The average length of a bus trip is 20 – 30 minutes and the longest trip takes 50 minutes.

There is a regular Ferry service between Malta and Gozo.

Good buys include Mdina glass, traditional handicrafts including lace, gold and silver filigree, blown glass and pottery. Hand-knitted clothing is produced in villages and is very affordable.

Places to shop- Craft centres at Ta' Qali and Ta’Dbiegi, and the main tourist resorts

Mdina and Rabat – Until the Knights arrived and settled around the Grand Harbour, the political centre of Malta was Mdina. Set inland on an easily defendable rocky outcrop, it has been a fortified city for more than 300 years. You could spend hours wandering through Mdinas narrow, cobbled streets. The city is still home to the Maltese aristocracy and is sometimes called the ‘Noble City’

St John’s Co-Cathedral - One of the most important historical buildings in Malta and houses a unique collection of Flemish tapestries, silver objects and church vestments

The Upper Barrakka Gardens - Enjoy panoramic views of the Grand Harbour and the three cities of Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea from here

The National Museum of Archaeology - Displays excellent collections of pottery, sculpture, statuettes etc, found at the main Neolithic and prehistoric sites on the Islands

The Fine Arts Museum - Houses several collections belonging to the Knights of St John. A section of the museum is reserved for the works of Maltese artists

The National War Museum - Situated inside the historic Fort St Elmo. You can see a large selection of war relics – from the war plane ‘Faith’ to the ‘George Cross’ awarded to the Maltese in recognition of their bravery in the Second World War. Weapons, uniforms and war vehicles are also exhibited

The Palace of the Grandmasters - With its portraits of Grandmasters and several European Monarchs, periodic furniture’s and numerous works of art. A unique collection of Gobelin tapestries hangs in the Tapestry Chamber.

The Manoel Theatre - Originally built as a court theatre and is one of the oldest theatres in Europe. Here performances are held regularly

The Museum of Natural History - Housed in a palace and contains local and foreign specimens of fish, insects, birds, shells and fossils alongside a number of geology exhibits

Day 1 : Arrive Valletta, Malta

You are met on arrival and taken to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy time at leisure to relax or explore this capital city.

Day 2 : Gozo Excursion, Malta

This morning take a short ferry ride to the nearby island of Gozo. The plush green countryside is spectacular, outlined with a coast of rugged cliffs and beautiful bays. Your sightseeing tour explores the city of Victoria, including the exquisite Basilica of Ta’Pinu, Malta’s national shrine, the seaside resort of Marsalforn and the prehistoric temple complex of Ggantija, a UNESCO World Heritage site Enjoy time to explore on your own before taking the afternoon ferry back to the Island of Malta.

Day 3 : Valletta, Malta

Valletta was built by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century as an impregnable fortress. This morning enjoy a tour of this World Heritage city. Visit St. John’s Cathedral, the Order’s own church, the Magisterial Palace, former residence of the Grand Master of the Knights of St. John and current home of the Maltese Parliament. Explore the Auberge de Provence, home to the National Museum of Archaeology with worthy collections of prehistoric pottery, sculptures and ornaments recovered from the megalithic temples found on the island.

Day 4 : Valletta, Malta

This morning visit the more than 5500-year-old Megalithic Temples of the Maltese Islands – each a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the Hypogeum, an underground Neolithic temple made during the Copper Age, full of refined graceful pottery and painted walls. See the Tarxien Temples, built in 3000 BC, and with unique refined architecture and art. The afternoon is at your leisure to enjoy the city.

Day 5 : Depart Valletta, Malta

Malta Discovery Private Tour

Monday and Tues were interesting. Anna is a good guide andPietro a good driver. Pre buying entrances was probably a mistake as it was confusing and I was still paying. The only full day of touring was Wednesday and that was understandably cancelled due to weather. We were given movie tickets but a large important part of the tour was effectively wiped out. I think there should be more robust contingency plans. I gave a good rating so as to not accidentally criticize the people we saw but the reduced tour was not particularly cost effective

Malta at Freedom,6 Days Tour

We had an amazing time with the tour planned in Malta. Julia was our guide for most the time with Jonathan as our driver. Our last tour guide was Dennis. Julia was so Informed and clearly inspired to share her wealth of knowledge of Valletta and Malta. She left no stone unturned. She was kind, funny, accepting of our physical restrictions, always on time, and very courteous, “Sir” Jonathan was a terrific driver and even volunteered to help us out the day after our stay. Always prompt, VERY safe driver and funny. Dennis was also terrific for the one day we had him instilling humor and knowledge with his tour. Omar was our initial arranger and he communicated quickly with every question I had. Nothing was ever left undone or not answered. Hotel arrangements went without a hitch as well as all our planned days. He even made concessions to make sure we had a ride to the other hotel and the airport with Jonathan even after our initial tour. I have nothing but high praises for our entire experience with TourRadar. We will certainly use them again for future trips. Thank you SO much Omar, Julia, Jonathan and Dennis!!!!

Good guide - Dennis - and drivers. Loved the itinerary. We learned so much about Malta - we had no idea how great Malta is! The hotels were lovely. We would like to have had a guide on the day that we returned to Malta from Gozo. Our driver only had a few words of English and we didn't have any Italian, so that was difficult for us all. He did the best he could and we appreciated that.

The customers before boarding the plane from Dubai was HORRENDOUS. The entire Emirates staff had a stick up their bum. The guy at the check in booth was rude. I don’t understand.

Swiss ground crew was again at its prime and although I’m United 1K (Star Alliance Gold) they created problems with my hand luggage - while other passengers were boarding with more handbags and larger hand luggages, were critical on my 2 young kids attending the lounge with me and boarding the plane with me on the priority lane.

Not exceptional but all good. Business class seats are like the domestic Mint class on Jet Blue. Comfortable but not exceptional. Food is good but not superb. Flight attendants were better on India leg than Miami to Zurich. All India staff was more professional and service oriented. Very polite and service with a smile.

Thank you to the cordial crew and good hydration throughout the flight, food was good too. Carry ons usually weight by themselves so it does reduce option for cold weather clothes that are heavy, so carryon weight is tight.

United Airlines flights serviced by Swiss Airlines provide for zero communication with Swiss Airlines almost impossible to contact Swiss airlines to make seat selection, upgrades or changes. I won’t do that again if it can be helped.

Luggage did not make it to Miami still not today! Screen did not work for couple hours- got a bate of chocolate as a peaceful offering. Crew tentative, seats are getting smaller- isle seat arm rest foes not fold- problem getting other 2 passengers to go to the toilet without hitting themselves

A lot of things could have been better. They lost our luggage. We missed our connection from YVR to Naples when we arrived in Zurich and then we got re-routed to Rome and then Naples. We eventually got to Naples but our bags didn’t. Our experience at the lost luggage in the Naples was not at all reassuring. They didn’t seem that interested in our problem. I did a live chat with Swiss customer service and all they could do is tell me to follow the process. Meanwhile we’ve had to spend significant money on clothes and I have to replace medications. This has meant our trip so far has been totally different than what we had planned. It’s not clear that our baggage will ever show up which means we will have lost significant amount of clothing and other things and our two month trip to Europe will have more problems than good memories. So far we are not happy.

It was a nightmare. I booked business class ticket from Ediburgh to Beirut via Istanbul to attend a funeral. I had a wonderful experience flying to Istanbul from Edinburgh. Then I could not get a boarding pass issued to Beirut. It seems that although they booked me and I had a reservation number, I had no seat allocated and the flight was full. I was asked to go from one desk to another and made to wait for 2 hours. I missed my flight as I did not have a seat assigned and it was full. The only option was to put me on the next flight, 6 hours later, for a fee of over $400. They said that was the best they can do to 'help me' and to 'take it or leave it'. Well, I was not about to be bullied; I stood my ground. I booked and paid premium for the journey, which was confirmed. The eventually accepted to not charge me extra and i waited a total of over 8 hours in the airport with no compensation. On top of my grief with the risk of missing the funeral service, I had to put up with their indifference and condescending attitude. They spoke about me in Turkish thinking I would not understand (I hold a British passport) in front of me. When they eventually handed my passport and boarding pass back to me, I showed them I was born in Istanbul and that I understood everything and said a condescending 'thank you' back to them in Turkish. You should have seen their faces. I said that consumers have rights and it is a shame that Turkish Airlines does not have good customer service to at least acknowledge and apologize for errors committed by the airline. Blaming the me, the client, for such an error and placing unreasonable ultimatums, rudeness and dismissiveness to be rid of me, particularly when I was vulnerable and visibly grieving was really shocking... The airline taints the city of Istanbul and the people of Türkiye. Such a shame.

There was a Turkish Airlines employee sat in 16A in the row in front of us. We understood that she was a Turkish Airlines employee from her interaction with the cabin crew and the fact that she boarded business but was sitting in economy with us. What annoyed us was the extremely loud conversation she had for the majority of the 12 hour flight with two men, one of which was leaning over the chair in front of her. This was annoying as they were so loud that my wife and I could still hear them despite wearing our noise cancelling earphones. No intervention was taken by the cabin crew. Secondly, she ordered some extra meals from the crew, which we believe to have come from business class, for her male friends. Seeing this in economy is very disheartening. Lastly, one of her male friends pulled out an e-cigarette and was only mildly reprimanded by the cabin crew. Overall, we consider this behaviour completely inappropriate of a Turkish Airlines employee. Next time we will book with Emirites, I don’t think that their employees would be allowed to behave in this manner.

Turkish airline always good Only Turkish representatives at the gave need to be more helpfull to any staff who traveling on Turkish airline . One situation happened Ist to jfk on Feb 29 TK3 had seats I asked them to transfer me to tk3 because Feb 29 tk1 was oversold and they advise me that I might not make it for tk1 I asked them to transfer me to tk3 and they say no they can’t do it I been telling them you know that I don’t have a chance for tk 1 why would you let plane go with some empty seats on tk3 if you can transfer me to tk3 and have less staff on tk1 and still told me no I waited for tk1 9 hours and only last minute I got seat on tk1 It was not easy situation but I am glad I made it home Thank you Turkish Airline One more suggestion for Turkish Airline you need to make a FIRST CLASS cabin it would be so cool 🆒 Good luck all the best See you more

On line check in needs a lot of improvement. I tried and gave up.

I will avoid this airline as much as possible. Service was rude, and I don’t think the crew knew how to answer a CALL LIGHT. I pushed my call light on the ohare to Istanbul and the Istanbul to Thailand flight because I was very very thirsty. NO ONE CAME. I pushed it twice! NO ONE CAME! Why have a call light when no one will come? My experience was the WORSE AND I WILL NEVER EVER FLY WITH THIS AIRLINE AGAIN. The cabin crew needs to learn MANNERS AND BE RETRAINED on their jobs on how to be helpful and kind instead of being short with their customers and ANSWER CALL LIGHTS! I honestly wouldn’t be suprised this airline goes out of business.

Better attitude training for staff at airport, better training for flight attendants, better food, don’t put us with all the crying babies that cried nonstop for 12 plus hours.

Flight attendants were harsh, food could be better, took way too long to pick up food trays, were stuck with the crying babies the entire to and from trip. Restrictions of 8 kg for cabin luggage is ridiculous that’s barely 2 pairs of pants, shirts, shoes. There shouldn’t be any restrictions on the carry on luggage size except the checked in luggage. Attendants don’t even help with putting luggage in cabin space. Attendant picked up food tray and spilled cherry juice all over my husband and has the nerve to come back to ask why he hadn’t changed his clothes.

My whole body was paining after such long flight. Seats are small. Leg space is too small. Food is good.

Food was OK.. nothing to rave about but it was tasty enough. Many choices to choose from for entertainment. Seats tight but comfortable. Flight attendants cheerful & helpful.

This flight is always a cramped bus. The gate area was inadequate and announcements were hard to hear. The flight was delayed 45 minutes to an hour by a broken aircraft door, making our total delay from Vilnius 5 hours.

A350 has great entertainment. Make sure to watch the plane's external tail and nose camera's on landing and take off. Seats were a little hard for a 10 hour flight. I am gluten intolerant, they had good alternative meals for me on the flight.

Unable to get Lufthanza code to obtain a boarding pass for my flight. Had to exit and re-register to get on the flight. Extremely frustrating.

Great except my luggage was. Lost my entire. Trip and I had. To go buy things and waste. Time trying to find. My luggage

Seats were very small in the economy class foe the high price. Vegetarian food was not good.

Online checking, bag drop, ground crew and flight crew excellent. Seats better and more comfortable that many others in Economy, still narrow for 9 plus hour flights, but you manage. Drink and meal service a bit sparse but adequate, return flight was a bit less attended. All in all, a good experience. Lufthansa never disappoints.

Good in general but I’m missing a bag So will see how long it will take to send it back

There was a boarding delay in Almaty. Comfort and food was average.

Rude staff and seats are only can accommodate small people. If you 6 feet and up be ready for struggle.
