Windsor Duck Tours on River Thames with Windsor Castle in distance

Book Tickets Online

You haven’t seen Windsor until you’ve seen it by Duck!

Laugh, learn and experience our fantastic 1-hour live guided tour by Road and River!

The commentary we offer is fun, lighthearted with a dash of history, keeping it fun for all ages.

Our unique adventure begins by road in the heart of Windsor, taking in the famous sights, before ‘SPLASHDOWN’ into the River Thames, travelling downstream to Windsor with unforgettable views of Windsor Castle and Eton.

We run two types of tour – Swan and Mallard – which vary the time spent on water and road; check our website for details.

Our tours run most days of the year; check our booking pages for available dates and times.

Booking in advance during holidays and the summer season is essential to reserve your place on our tour.

We also offer private hire for corporate groups, birthdays, schools, etc.

Our tour pick-up point is DUCK STOP, opposite Theatre Royal, 32 Thames St, Windsor, SL4 1PS.

The 26-seat amphibious vehicle we use was purpose-built in 2010 for maximum safety and comfort of our passengers.

Our vehicles are NEW, purpose-built to carry passengers, not converted wartime units.

They meet safety standards for land (VOSA) and water (MCA) straight from the factory.

Our drivers are boatmen with a minimum of Tier 2 qualification for the water and cat ‘D’ PSV Drivers for the Road.

RIVER CONDITIONS

It is possible at some times of the year, mainly in Winter, after very heavy rain  for a number of days  the river will go into flood and flow fast. At these times, we may have to stop running the water part of the tour at short notice as this makes it unsafe for us to operate on the water. Customers who are booked will be emailed offering various options generally over and above our terms and conditions inc full refund.

If you're in Windsor this is a must do! No matter what the weather you will have a great time! The driver and host are very funny and extremely knowledgeable about anything and everything to do with Windsor and Eaton! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip! We did take advantage of the Thursday 10am 20% off discount, before heading to Windsor Castle!

A cute tour of Windsor.....Before we traveled, I had looked on Windsor Castles site for things to do and one thing that came up was the duck tour so I thought it would be fun. The pickup for the tour is just down the hill from the castle. It is at an unassuming bus stop so make sure you find it in advance of your departure, it is right across from the theater. The tour itself was cute and lasted about an hour of driving on the streets of Windsor before you enter the river and take it for a river cruise. It is a nice relaxing tour, there isn't an overwhelming amount of sites to see and not much was really pointed out so it was just a nice relaxing ride after our tour of the castle and walking around the town. The duck boat is cute, but if you have problems with stairs, you may need to rethink it, you have to climb some pretty steep steps to get onboard. There are only about 6-8 steps but they are very steep. I happened to be on Groupon and saw they had a deal on there so we quickly purchased our vouchers. Redeeming the voucher on their website for the tickets was very easy and the tickets were emailed to me right away. The Groupon vouchers were only good for two cruises each day but one happened to be at our preferred time so it actually worked out well. If you are redeeming a Groupon, please be sure to redeem a day before and remember to actually book your tickets. There was a group that showed up who hadn't booked the tickets and redeemed the Groupon yet. Luckily for them we had a few people who didn't show up so the crew was able to work with them to get them on board.

Will cancel your tour due to weather or other reasons without notifying you of the cancellation first (no email or phone call). We cut our Windsor castle tour short to make it in time to the tour bus stop. When our tour bus was late, we called to find out that the tour had been cancelled without any notification (most recent notification was to tell us the tour was confirmed). Both groups on this tour suffered the same fate with no communication of cancellation. They will rely on you calling them after cancellation before issuing a refund. I would recommend this service if you want your Windsor plans to be wrecked.

My sister came across the Duck Tour when researching things to do in Windsor since we wanted to make the most out of our day in Windsor. She found a deal on Groupon and we were able to purchase and redeem with ease. On the day of the tour we arrived early and as soon as the last tour arrived back at the stop (just down the hill from the castle) we were greeted and told to board. As soon as our tour time came they pulled up the stairs and we were off. We happened to be there on a busy weekend so the driver took a short cut to try and stay out of traffic, that was very nice that they took the traffic into consideration. The drive to the River Thames was short but and the guides added any information about the sites that they were aware of. There really wasn't much to see on the drive to the river. The drive however was relaxing. Once we arrived at the river the boat drove right in and we were floating. This was quite neat and the kids aboard seemed to enjoy it. The best part was the view of the castle from the river. possible. It was a very enjoyable 30 minutes on the water. Overall about an hour ride. The only drawback to this tour was the steep stairs to climb up the boat. If you or someone in your party has a hard time walking and steep stairs are not easy, you may want to reconsider. We did notice some people having some difficulty. If not, it was definitely an hour well spent.

NEADS World Class Service Dogs celebrated Boston Duck Tours’ philanthropic initiative, ‘Quack-Quack, Give Back!” on Sunday with ambassadors and partners taking a private tour ride through the city.

The two organizations celebrated their 12-year partnership a week after Duck Tours’ 2024 season kicked off with the tour ride for service dogs and their handlers. For pooches too young for the tour, there was and a training course that included basic obedience, good manners and socialization, NEADS officials said.

Cathy Zemaitis, Chief Development and Programs Officer at NEADS lauded Boston Duck Tours for allocating proceeds made throughout the year to support NEADS. Zemaitis said a service dog in training was named Kilroy, in honor of the very first Duck Boat.

Harbor Sweets, based out of Salem, MA, also provided paw-shaped chocolates for those joining the tour, with a portion of proceeds from chocolates sold being donated to NEADS.

“Hosting NEADS Puppy Raisers and the Service Dogs in Training on our Duck Boats is one of our favorite events, and we are thrilled that they will join us for this fun, yet educational trip,” Boston Duck Tours CEO Cindy Brown said in a statement.
