USB Arena – NY Islanders – Long Island, NY

New 19,000-Seat UBS Arena Accomplishes Major Milestone of Overall $1.3 Billion Belmont Park Redevelopment Project.

New LIRR Elmont-UBS Arena Station Completed.

Total Project Expected to Create 10,000 Jobs, Generate $2.7 Billion in Economic Activity.

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced the opening of UBS Arena, which will bring the New York Islanders back home to Long Island. The new arena marks a major milestone in the overall $1.3 billion Belmont Park Redevelopment Project, which is transforming 43 acres of underutilized parking lots into a premier sports and hospitality destination. In addition to being the new home for the New York Islanders hockey team, the UBS Arena will feature concerts, live entertainment and other events throughout the year. Future phases of the Belmont Park Redevelopment Project will include a 350,000 square-foot destination entertainment and retail complex, a 250-key hotel and a community center. In addition, two rehabilitated local parks will reopen to the public in the coming months. Construction of all the project components is expected to create 10,000 jobs and generate $2.7 billion in economic activity for Nassau County.

“Today is a monumental day for New York and the Islanders as we cut the ribbon on the world-class new UBS Arena,”  Governor Hochul said . “This is the first step in the newly redeveloped Belmont Park, which will serve as an internationally recognized destination for sports, entertainment, retail and hospitality. As New York continues to recover from the COVID pandemic, Belmont Park will be instrumental in strengthening the regional economy and boosting tourism for generations to come.”

Lieutenant Governor Brian Benjamin said,  “The opening of the new UBS Arena is not only great for the Islanders, the new renovations to Belmont Park will be a wonderful addition to the Nassau County community. This new project will bring entertainment and economic activity to the area and make it an international hub for everything from sports to hospitality, I cannot wait to see the new arena in action.”

Announced in December 2017, the Belmont Park Redevelopment Project includes significant community and public realm benefits, including a new Long Island Rail Road station in Elmont – the first new full-time LIRR stop in nearly 50 years. By 2024, the project is expected to sustain 3,200 new full-time jobs, produce $858 million in annual economic activity, and generate tens of millions of dollars in new annual tax revenue for the regional economy.

New LIRR Elmont Station

The Long Island Rail Road  Elmont Station , the first new LIRR station in almost 50 years, will open for service on Saturday, Nov. 20 – coinciding with the New York Islanders’ first home game at UBS Arena. The Elmont—UBS Arena Station will initially offer eastbound service to Elmont, serving the UBS Arena and Belmont Park, which retains its own dedicated part-time station.

Service at the station will increase next summer when the westbound platform opens. At that time, the station will begin full-time year-round service to the local community and will begin to provide westbound service to and from events at UBS Arena and Belmont Park. Long Islanders who live east of Belmont on the Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma Branches will have a one-seat ride straight to events for the first time. This will reduce travel times and is expected to increase the number of event attendees who use public transportation, helping alleviate traffic congestion on Long Island.

When both platforms are complete, the new station will feature two 12-car-long high-level platforms with canopies, elevators that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, a pedestrian overpass, USB charging stations, Help Points, security cameras, digital signs with train arrival information, Wi-Fi and a state-of-the-art snow melting system embedded in the concrete of the platforms to ensure they remain free of snow and ice during winter storms.

Rehabilitated Elmont Road Park and Hendrickson Avenue Park

As part of the overall project, New York Arena Partners is renovating Elmont Road Park and providing improvements to Hendrickson Avenue Park. The plan for Elmont Road Park was developed with the local community based on ideas residents offered at a facilitated planning workshop in April 2019. Upon completion, Elmont Road Park will have a new multi-use sports field, renovated basketball and handball courts, a perimeter walking path, a new adult fitness area, new playgrounds and water play area, renovated seating area, improved lighting and security measures, and ADA access. Improvements at Hendrickson Avenue Park include improved lighting.

“ This is the first step in the newly redeveloped Belmont Park, which will serve as an internationally recognized destination for sports, entertainment, retail and hospitality. As New York continues to recover from the COVID pandemic, Belmont Park will be instrumental in strengthening the regional economy and boosting tourism for generations to come. “ Governor Hochul

Empire State Development Chair Nominee Kevin Law said,  “With New York State reopening its doors, the opening of the new UBS Arena and Elmont Long Island Rail Road station sends a clear message that Long Island is open for business. As the new home of the New York Islanders and venue for live entertainment events, the UBS Arena will create a significant boost to tourism and economic activity for the region. Tourism and hospitality are important to the State’s economy and the redevelopment of Belmont Park will transform the area into a premier entertainment destination.”

Empire State Development Acting Commissioner and President & CEO-designate Hope Knight   said,  “After years of open, collaborative planning with community leaders and stakeholders, we have cut the ribbon on the new UBS Arena – a world-class sports and entertainment destination that will create lasting memories for hockey fans and New Yorkers. The future is bright for Long Island with a redeveloped Belmont Park bringing new jobs and tax revenues that will help spur the region’s economic growth.

New York Islanders Co-Owner Jon Ledecky said,  “It is our privilege to celebrate Islanders fans and New Yorkers throughout the region as this new landmark for New York opens today. Our thanks to Governor Hochul, the elected officials, and those in our community who have worked so hard to make this day possible.”

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said , “I want to congratulate Governor Hochul, the New York Islanders, their fans, and our partners in government and the private sector whose vision, hard work, and commitment made this historic day possible. For years the Islanders have dreamed of a first-class, state-of-the-art arena they can call home. Today, that dream comes true.”

Co-founders of Sterling Project Development Jeff Wilpon and Richard Browne said,  “We are tremendously proud to stand with Tim and Scott as we open UBS Arena. Our deepest thanks to the Governor, the dedicated staff at Empire State Development and the Office of General Services, and the local elected officials who supported this groundbreaking public-private partnership that will transform the local community.”

President of UBS Americas Tom Naratil said , “We’re deeply proud to be part of this once-in-a-generation opportunity in the financial, entertainment and sports capital of the world. It’s incredibly exciting to see the UBS name on the country’s premier venue, and we’re grateful to be in the family of partners that made UBS Arena a reality for fans, for the community and for Islanders Nation.”

CEO of Oak View Group Tim Leiweke said,  “We are thrilled to welcome fans into UBS Arena this weekend. The brand new, state of the art building that’s made for music and built for hockey will have an experience that’s second to none in the area. Thanks to Governor Hochul and the State of New York for their tremendous support of our team and this project.”

For approximately two years, Empire State Development and New York Belmont Partners, and its affiliate, New York Arena Partners — a joint venture among Oak View Group, the New York Islanders and Jeff Wilpon — shepherded the Belmont Redevelopment Project through a rigorous and transparent public review process, which included 12 public meetings and hearings and ongoing meetings with local organizations and stakeholders. Input from local officials, community members and the project’s Community Advisory Committee shaped the project every step of the way, including the addition of the new Elmont — UBS Arena LIRR station and the renovation of Elmont Road Park. In the summer of 2019, the project received its public approvals from the Empire State Development Board of Directors, the Franchise Oversight Board and the Public Authorities Control Board.

Representative Gregory Meeks said,  “I’m thrilled to welcome the New York Islanders back to Long Island. The new stadium will generate jobs and boost local economic opportunities.  Furthermore, the new LIRR station in Elmont, the first new station in almost 50 years, will allow for more public transit options that will ease New Yorkers’ work commutes and ensure equitable access to the UBS Arena.”

State Senator Leroy Comrie said,  “Responsible, community led economic development, is essential to bringing New York back, and I am excited about the collaboration that has brought Queens and Nassau Counties together to see the Islanders return home to Long Island with the opening of the $1.1 billion multi-purpose, state-of-the-art UBS Arena located at Belmont Park. It took quite a bit of doing, but we are finally crossing the finish line and looking forward to an economic boost for the region and the state. I would like to commend and congratulate, Governor Kathy Hochul, the team at Empire State Development, the MTA/LIRR leadership, the UBS Arena Partners, the Wilpons, Jon Ledecky, our friends in organized labor, my colleagues in government but most importantly, community leaders on the Advisory Council and others who stood up and spoke up about what needed to be done to preserve and protect neighborhood integrity while having a vision to move our state and communities forward. From pushing for the new Elmont LIRR station to raising awareness of the need for open space and education programs, our local resident leaders paved the way for public-private partnership and investment that will benefit the region for generations to come”

State Senator Anna M. Kaplan said,  “The beautiful new UBS Arena at Belmont Park demonstrates what’s possible through effective public-private partnerships and productive community engagement. This remarkable new facility will finally bring the Islanders home to Nassau County where they belong, and it will be a source of entertainment and economic development that will benefit our entire community.  I’m so grateful for the hard work and dedication of everyone responsible for this great achievement, including Governor Kathy Hochul, the staff of Empire State Development, members of the community who provided their input, the private sector, and all the workers who showed up throughout the pandemic to keep the project on-time and on-budget. Today is truly a great day for all of Long Island!”

State Senator Todd Kaminsky said,  “Bringing the Islanders home to a state-of-the-art arena on Long Island is a victory. This project will be a catalyst for the region and has just the beginning of what will be a world-class complex that brings good jobs and mass transit to the surrounding communities. Today shows that we can think big and accomplish important, transformative projects.”

Assembly Member Clyde Vanel said,  “This is a great day for New York. We are excited to have the New York Islanders and the The UBS Arena as our neighbors. Along with great events, we anticipate it being a jobs hub for our community. We are also excited to have a new Long Island railroad station. The UBS arena will be a great place to create memories for years to come.”

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said,  “It’s a historic day for Nassau County and for Islanders Nation. The Belmont project has benefited our local communities since day 1, creating new jobs and economic activity, expanding our public transit network, and bringing our beloved Isles home for good – a hat trick for Nassau. As an avid supporter of this effort, I’m proud of the team that got the job done. Let’s go Islanders!”

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards said,  “Queens is thrilled to welcome the New York Islanders to our immediate area, but we’re also thrilled about the job creation and economic activity benefiting our borough that the opening of the spectacular new UBS Arena will generate. Here’s to bringing home the Stanley Cup for the Islanders and bringing home the bacon economically for both Queens and Nassau County.”

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Donald Clavin said,  “Today is a great day for the Town of Hempstead and the State of New York.”

President of the Long Island Federation of Labor John Durso said,  “Governor Hochul, the Islanders organization, the fans, and the working people of this region all came together to make this day a reality. It’s an iconic moment in Islanders and Long Island’s history. All involved should be proud of what we have accomplished, and excited for what is still to come!”

President of the Building and Construction Trades Council Matty Aracich said,  “We could not be more excited about the completion of Long Island’s home of the NY Islanders. Through this project, we have seen the finished results of our skilled Tradeswomen and Tradesmen who worked as “True Artisans” to make this the best entertainment destination in the nation. The Building Trades Council is especially grateful for the role Governor Hochul and NYS Empire State Development had in making this project the economic engine for Nassau County and supporting organized labor throughout the entire process.”

President of 32BJ SEIU Kyle Bragg said,  “Getting New York’s events spaces up and running is an important element of our state’s recovery. The opening of the UBS Arena will bring hundreds of good jobs to Belmont, including many year-round cleaning and security jobs with good wages. We are proud to support this project and look forward many lively seasons there.”

NYRA CEO & President Dave O’Rourke said,  “The completion of UBS Arena serves as a reminder of all that is possible in New York State,” said NYRA President & CEO Dave O’Rourke. “Belmont Park is an iconic property that has provided the stage for some of the most exciting and memorable moments in the history of sports, and we are thrilled to welcome UBS Arena and the New York Islanders to their new home in the place where champions are crowned.”

Chair of the Elmont Coalition of Sustainable Development Sandra Smith said,  “The completion of this arena is a major win for the Elmont community. I am excited to continue to work with New York Arena Partners to improve our community and bring more opportunities to the residents of Elmont.”

President of the Elmont Cardinals Jon Johnson said,  “The completion of this project is something the Elmont community has looked forward to. This arena will bring many economic opportunities for the Elmont community. I am eager to continue to engage with New York Arena Partners to complete the renovations at Elmont Road Park and to support the local community.”

Elmont Chamber of Commerce President Julie Marchesella said , “The Elmont Chamber of Commerce welcomes the New York Islanders and the New York Arena Partners as members of the Elmont Community. This entertainment complex is a long-awaited addition to the economic development of New York State, Nassau County and the Elmont community at large.  We look forward to a long working relationship with our new neighbors!”

posted on September 19th 2023 by Charmaine Cortes // last updated on September 19th 2023

Visiting UBS Arena is an exciting experience for anyone attending a game, concert, or event at this state-of-the-art venue. In this guide, I will share everything you need to know about entering UBS Arena smoothly and efficiently. Knowing how to navigate this impressive venue can help make your visit even more enjoyable.

Firstly, there are multiple ways to get to UBS Arena, including public transportation and car. The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has a dedicated full-time station, Elmont-UBS Arena, which is accessible from various locations. If you prefer to use buses, the MTA and NICE buses also have stops at the arena’s campus. Regular shuttles before and after events will be available to and from the Elmont-UBS Arena LIRR station, ensuring a hassle-free journey.

Besides transportation, it is crucial to know about the entrances available at UBS Arena. One of the entrances is the American Express® entrance, located on the northwest side of the venue. If you are an American Express Card Member, you can enjoy exclusive access to this entrance by simply bringing your card to the event. As a fan of the New York Islanders, I’m excited to share the history of UBS Arena with you! UBS Arena is a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility located in Belmont, Long Island. After the Islanders had to go back and forth between Nassau Coliseum and the Barclays Center, they finally have an arena they can truly call their own.

It all started with the Lighthouse Project and Barclays Center. Nassau Coliseum was the second-oldest facility in the NHL, only younger than the twice-renovated Madison Square Garden. It was also the second-smallest arena in the league, with only MTS Centre in Winnipeg being smaller. As a result, it was clear that a new, modern arena was needed for the Islanders to compete and grow their fan base.

The $1.1 billion project was built with four key elements in mind: location, Islanders games and events, hospitality, and a space that creates memories. UBS Arena is located next to Queens and Nassau County, making it easily accessible for fans from both areas. As an Islanders fan, I can tell you that this arena provides excellent views, stunning acoustics, architectural perfection, and advanced facilities for an unforgettable experience.

As an environmentally conscious person, I’m happy to see that UBS Arena aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2024, contributing to a better planet and the local community for decades to come. The arena also plans to bring significant economic boosts to the surrounding area.

Now that you know the history of UBS Arena, I hope you can visit the arena and enjoy a game or event in the near future. The state-of-the-art facility will leave you with lasting memories and demonstrate how an arena can truly enhance your overall experience.

Hi there! I’d like to share some key information about how to access UBS Arena and its entrances. The UBS Arena is situated in the Elmont area, and there are various ways to reach it through public transportation and by car.

In order to reach UBS Arena, you may opt to take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). With only a 30-minute direct train service from Grand Central Madison or Penn Station, you’ll arrive at the Elmont-UBS Arena Station. It’s a convenient and fast way to get to the venue. Alternatively, you can also use the LIRR service from the Hempstead, Huntington, and Ronkonkoma Branches, which stop at the Elmont-UBS Arena station every day.

For those who prefer to drive to the venue, make sure to purchase parking in advance. To access the arena, you need to exit through Cross Island Parkway Exit 26B (Hempstead Turnpike East). Do note that this access is only available for pre-paid Diamond & Silver Parking pass holders. Don’t worry, ADA parking is available for all lots.

Once you have reached the venue, there are two main entrances that you can use to enter the arena. The American Express entrance is located at the NW side, offering exclusive access for card members. Just bring your card to the event, and you’ll be able to use the dedicated American Express Card Member Entrance. On the other hand, the BMW VIP Entrance can be found on the SE side of the venue, providing a VIP entrance experience.

I hope this information helps make your visit to UBS Arena smooth and enjoyable.

Accessibility Entrance

I’ve discovered that UBS Arena is highly dedicated to providing an enjoyable experience to all guests, regardless of their abilities. They have an Accessibility Guide for detailed information on accessible services, programs, and policies. If you need additional information or assistance, you can email them or call the UBS Arena Accessibility Hotline at 516-460-8598.

VIP Entrance

For those of you with VIP tickets, the American Express® entrance is specifically designated for your entrance. It’s conveniently located at the northwest side of the venue. Keep in mind that you will need your American Express card for entry, so don’t forget to bring it with you!

General Entrance

The main entrance, also known as the Acrisure Great Hall entrance, is located at the northeast side of the venue. As you enter through this impressive entryway, you’ll be greeted by the Acrisure Great Hall, which was designed to resemble the iconic Grand Central Station. This entrance is perfect for most guests, and it’s where you’ll begin your exciting journey through the UBS Arena.

As someone who loves attending live events, I appreciate the importance of security and safety at any venue. At UBS Arena, they’ve implemented measures to ensure that all guests have a safe and enjoyable experience.

First and foremost, the venue follows New York State Department of Health guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Guests are no longer required to present proof of full vaccination status or a negative COVID-19 test to enter the arena. However, if you have COVID-19, its symptoms, or know you’ve been exposed to the virus, please stay home to ensure everyone’s safety.

Before entering the arena, you might notice that there are security screening procedures in place. This is to make sure everyone can have a fun and worry-free experience. Be prepared to have your bags checked and walk through metal detectors to ensure a safe environment for all attendees.

For everyone’s safety, there is a list of prohibited items that are not allowed inside UBS Arena. Some of these items include:

  • Outside food and beverages
  • Large bags or backpacks
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Selfie sticks, tripods, and monopods
  • Drones or other remote-controlled devices

It’s essential to familiarize yourself with the complete list of prohibited items before arriving at the venue to avoid any issues or delays at the entrance.

In addition to these safety measures, UBS Arena has dedicated staff working on maintaining the cleanliness and sanitization of the venue. They regularly clean all high-touch surfaces and restrooms to reduce the risk of contamination and ensure a healthy environment for everyone.

While attending any event at UBS Arena, don’t hesitate to approach a staff member if you have any concerns or require assistance. The team is there to help you enjoy the event and make it a safe and unforgettable experience for all.

Gate Opening Times

I have gathered some important information about the gate opening times at UBS Arena. For most events, the gates typically open 60 minutes before the start of the event. For sporting events, like New York Islanders games, they generally open the gates 90 minutes prior to the start. It’s a good idea to arrive early to ensure a smooth entry into the arena.

Ticket Scanning

When attending an event at UBS Arena, make sure to have your ticket ready for scanning. If you purchased your tickets through Ticketmaster, you’ll receive an email before the event with all the necessary information. Don’t forget to bring a valid ID and, if necessary, proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results, as they may be required for admission. Here’s a quick rundown of the ticket scanning process:

  • Tickets can be presented either as a print-at-home ticket or a mobile ticket on your smartphone.
  • Look for the designated ticket scanning lanes at the entrance.
  • Have your ID and other necessary documents ready for inspection.

In conclusion, by arriving early and having your ticket and documents ready for scanning, you’ll ensure a smooth and stress-free entry into the UBS Arena. Enjoy the event!

Food and Beverage

At UBS Arena, I discovered a variety of food and beverage options to satisfy any craving. From classic stadium favourites like hot dogs and popcorn to more unique offerings like artisanal sandwiches and premium craft beers, there’s something for everyone.

Some of the food and beverage outlets I noticed during my visit include:

Main Concourse and Upper Bowl

  • Burgers, fries, and other snack options
  • A selection of hot and cold beverages, including beer and soda

Premium Spaces

  • Fine dining experience with upscale menu options
  • An extensive wine list and signature cocktails available

Throughout my time at the arena, I found plenty of clean and well-maintained restrooms available on all levels. They also offer accessible restrooms and all-gender restrooms to accommodate every guest’s needs. Moreover, there are baby changing stations in select restrooms for those attending events with their little ones.

First Aid Centers

During my visit to UBS Arena, I noticed well-marked first aid centers staffed with trained medical personnel. These centers are equipped to handle minor medical issues and emergencies that may arise during events. If you ever need assistance, simply look for staff or signage directing you to the nearest first aid center.

Lost and Found

In case you lose any personal items during your visit, UBS Arena offers a lost and found service. I learned that you can report any missing items to event staff or visit the Guest Services booth for assistance. They will help you locate your belongings and ensure you leave the event with everything you came with.

ubs arena travel

As a frequent visitor to the UBS Arena, I’m happy to share my experience and knowledge about the seating options available at this fantastic venue. The arena offers a wide range of seating sections and different levels of comfort to choose from, ensuring a great view and enjoyable time for everyone.

When it comes to club seats and premium areas, the Dime Club and Hyundai Club stand out. The Dime Club is located near center ice, providing an excellent view of the game. It also comes with all-inclusive perks, making it a top choice for a luxury experience. On the other hand, the Hyundai Club is a unique seating option in the lower level, offering its own set of benefits.

Aside from premium seating, the arena features various sections throughout the venue. For example, Section 329 is known for its fantastic view of the ice and is a popular choice among fans. With an interactive seating chart available online, you can have a look at the different sections and find the perfect spot that suits your preferences.

While attending an event, you’ll notice that UBS Arena has made accessibility a priority. There are multiple entrances to the venue, such as the Main Entrance (Acrisure Great Hall) located at the NE side and the American Express® entrance at the NW side. You can also reach the arena easily via public transportation like the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) at the Elmont-UBS Arena station.

So, there you have it! My brief guide to finding your perfect seat at UBS Arena. I hope this information will help make your next event experience at the arena even better. Enjoy!

ubs arena travel

I recently discovered this new and magnificent UBS Arena, which is truly a world-class venue for various special events and concerts. Located in Belmont Park, Long Island, NY, it has a remarkable lineup of performances that would definitely make you want to mark your calendars.

Some of the upcoming events at UBS Arena include Aerosmith’s “PEACE OUT The Farewell Tour” with The Black Crowes on September 9, 2023. Another amazing performance to look forward to is Andre Rieu on September 17, 2023. Fans of classic rock can’t miss out on the Eagles’ “The Long Goodbye” show on September 20, 2023. There are many more amazing artists and events scheduled, so make sure to check the UBS Arena website for the full lineup.

In addition to concerts, the UBS Arena also hosts various events, such as a hiring fair that’s free and open to the public on September 11, 2023. It might be a great opportunity for job seekers or people looking to network.

Getting to the UBS Arena is quite convenient as regular shuttles are available before and after events. They operate between Elmont-UBS Arena LIRR Station, just a 5-minute trip away. Moreover, direct service from Grand Central Madison to Elmont-UBS Arena Station is also available, making it easy for people coming from different parts of the city.

So, if you’re looking for a great night out with your friends or if you’re a fan of live music and entertainment, you should definitely consider visiting the UBS Arena. With its amazing lineup and comfortable amenities, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy and make unforgettable memories.

I had a fantastic time exploring the UBS Arena! The two main entrances that I noticed were the AMEX Entrance and the BMW VIP Entrance . The AMEX Entrance, located on the northwest side, offers a dedicated entrance for American Express card members. On the southeast side of the venue, there’s the BMW VIP Entrance for VIP ticket holders.

Getting to UBS Arena was pretty convenient. I took the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) which had a direct 30-minute train service to the Elmont-UBS Arena Station from Grand Central Madison and Penn Station. For those planning to drive, I recommend purchasing parking in advance and checking the right Cross Island Parkway exit to access the parking area.

While I was there, I noticed that the arena had a massive, high-resolution scoreboard, which was four times larger than the one at Nassau Coliseum and the largest in the state. The arena’s on-ice projection capabilities were also impressive, similar to those at T-Mobile Arena.

So, if you’re planning a visit to UBS Arena, remember to check your email for key event information and plan your trip with ease. Embrace the beautiful venue, enjoy the state-of-the-art scoreboard and projections, and most importantly, have a great time!

Islanders vs. Hurricanes Game 1 prediction: NHL odds, picks for Saturday

The New York Islanders and Carolina Hurricanes will get the 2023-24 Stanley Cup Playoffs started on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.

The New York Islanders and Carolina Hurricanes will get the 2023-24 Stanley Cup Playoffs started on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.

The Hurricanes are a -230 favorite to win Game 1 and are currently -340 to win the series.

Will this be as straightforward as the odds suggest? Or will the Islanders prove to be a trickier opponent than these odds suggest?

Let’s take a look.

Islanders vs. Hurricanes odds & pick

It’s been a tale of two seasons for the Hurricanes.

It’s not like Carolina was bad in the first few months of 2023-24, but it took some time for the Canes to get on a roll due to some poor goaltending and uncharacteristically sloppy play.

Carolina was just 17-13-4 going into the Christmas break and it looked like they could need to scrap to just get into the postseason.

Most punters believed Carolina would turn things around eventually, but the Canes went above and beyond that after the holidays.

Carolina posted a 35-10-3 record after Christmas and carried a +62 goal difference in that span.

The goaltending improved drastically, especially when Freddie Andersen returned to the lineup, and Carolina posted some of the best 5-on-5 numbers in the league.

Ruslan Iskhakov #37 of the New York Islanders skates against the Pittsburgh Penguins while playing in his first NHL game at UBS Arena on April 17, 2024 in Elmont, New York.

The Hurricanes play a chaotic, all-action style of hockey predicated on suffocating their opponents with pressure and physicality.

Very few, if any, teams play like the Canes and that makes them a tricky group to prepare for.

It’s been a tale of many seasons for the Islanders.

The Isles were inconsistent at best out of the gates, plagued by terrible defense and some injuries, but looked like they righted the ship in the middle of December.

But that things got more maddening from there and led to a coaching change with Patrick Roy replacing Lane Lambert.

The move from Lambert to Roy paid dividends, as the Isles played at a 100-point pace under their new head coach and made massive improvements defensively.

Those defensive improvements will be put to the test against the Hurricanes, who posted elite 5-on-5 numbers on the season and had the NHL’s second-best power play.

While the Hurricanes deserve to be a sizable favorite in Game 1 and beyond in this series, the Islanders won’t be an easy out and have the goaltending and defensive fortitude to hang around and provide value at this kind of price.

The bet: Islanders +185 or better ( FanDuel Sportsbook )

SAP Center San Jose Parking Deals

Last Updated on December 10, 2023 by Usama

The SAP Center at San Jose, a sports and entertainment venue, is home to the NHL San Jose Sharks team and its AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda. Due to its primary tenant, the arena has also been known as the Shark Tank. If you plan to watch a hockey game soon, and it’s your first time driving to the venue, the SAP Center address is 525 W Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113. You don’t need to stress about finding convenient Sharks parking either— Parking Access will provide up-to-date information on all the SAP Center San Jose parking deals! Discover the best on-site and nearby parking services, compare prices, and purchase an event parking pass in advance.

SAP Center San Jose Parking Options

Several thousand car parking spaces are placed within an approximately 15-minute walk of the SAP Center, and about 1,500 of them are on-site. The closest parking area is the ABC Lot, which is divided into three zones accessible from West Santa Clara Street and Julian Street. Additional parking spots are located a quick walk from the arena: on Autumn, Montgomery, and Cahill Streets. To find the most convenient parking at the SAP Center San Jose, pre-book a spot and arrive early. Most lots open two and a half hours before the San Jose Barracuda or Sharks game starts.

How Much Is Parking at the SAP Center San Jose?

Season ticket holders who reserve parking ahead of time have a guaranteed SAP Center parking spot in the main ABC parking lot. Visitors searching for a single-game ticket can get a prepaid parking pass through Ticketmaster at the following prices:

Pre-booking is crucial if you want to avoid sold-out situations—if you come across a full lot without a pass, parking attendants will direct you to an off-site parking area. Getting an SAP Center San Jose parking pass in advance often allows you to reduce your costs as well! Go through the Vivid Seats’ deals for any of the upcoming events to find what works for you and purchase parking on the spot.

Official Parking Reservations at Stadiums

Accessible Parking

Limited ADA parking is offered on a first-come, first-served basis at each entrance. For San Jose Sharks games and other major events, the arena provides additional parking for physically impaired visitors. Advanced bookings and early arrivals are highly recommended, while disabled parking permits are required. The SAP Center also offers several accessible drop-off areas, and the North Entrance curb is suitable for both pick-ups and drop-offs.

Bus & RV Parking

Guests can access the bus parking area from the entrance of Autumn St. and John St. only. Any bus and shuttle driver must purchase two ABC parking passes, and the cost will be $50. Other oversized vehicles, such as limousines and RVs, can park in the large parking lot across from the arena and pay for the number of occupied spots. Overnight parking is prohibited in all Sharks parking lots.

San Jose Sharks Parking Near the SAP Center

If you search for free parking near the SAP Center San Jose, we suggest coming up with a backup plan since you most likely won’t find it. Depending on the time, you might come across a street parking spot within a couple of blocks of the arena. If this happens, look for the signs and read them carefully to avoid getting a San Jose parking ticket . One of the most popular downtown parking areas is the Market & San Pedro Square Garage—it has a $10 flat rate on event days. This parking garage is placed at 45 N. San Pedro Street, about a 10-minute walk from the SAP Center.

Market & San Pedro Square Garage

Other alternatives include the Almaden Financial Plaza at 350 W. Santa Clara St. and the 283 W. San Fernando St. lot. They are slightly closer to the arena and have a $15 parking fee on Sharks game days. Finally, you can park outside downtown or anywhere near the public transit network and then hop on a train or bus to the SAP Center. Learn more about these services below.

Public Transportation to San Jose

The Diridon station on Cahill Street is serviced by the Caltrain, ACE, and Amtrak trains, as well as the VTA buses.

  • Caltrain connects San Francisco residents to San Jose.
  • The ACE is ideal for guests from Stockton, Pleasanton, Fremont, or Santa Clara.
  • The Capitol Corridor offers rides from Auburn, Sacramento, Richmond, Berkeley, Oakland, etc.

The VTA light rail also serves the SAP Center, and it stops on San Fernando St. at Delmas Ave. It’s perfect for visitors coming from Campbell or going to Santa Teresa after the game. Click on any transportation provider for more information on schedules and fares. If you live in the area but aren’t close enough to take a walk, you may request an Uber or a Lyft ride. The Passenger Pick-Up zone is at 19 South Autumn Street.

Grab a Drink in a Nearby Bar

Tailgating is prohibited in the SAP Center parking lots. However, downtown bars and restaurants are a great alternative for Sharks fans who plan to have a drink with their friends before the game. The best places are across the Guadalupe River and require up to 10 minutes of walking. We looked into all of them and listed the most popular pubs and bars:

  • The Brit – Sports Pub & Patio
  • O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub
  • The Farmers Union
  • Enoteca La Storia
  • San Pedro Square Market Bar
