Avoid some stress and hassle by choosing a hotel before or after your cruise out of PortMiami. Here are the best Miami hotels with shuttles and parking

Guest Post

You’re about to take a cruise out of PortMiami (sometimes called Port of Miami but official name is PortMiami) and you need a hotel to stay in before and/or after the trip.

Finding the right hotel that fits within your trip budget and is close enough to the port is essential. The cost of parking at the cruise port is roughly $22 a night, so if you’re gone for a week, that’s an extra $150 added on to the already high cost of your trip.

What you need is a hotel where you can not only leave your car for the duration of your cruise but also be offered a shuttle ride to the port.

Look no further! We’ve compiled a list of hotels near the Port of Miami for cruises, along with their individual features so you can decide which ones you would like to investigate for your trip. With each listing, we’ve included the average nightly cost, the distance to the hotel from the port, and the overall guest rating.

If you’ll be driving to Miami for your cruise, the best option for you will be a hotel that offers a “park and ride” package, where you can leave your car in the hotel’s parking lot for a certain number of days (it varies depending on the hotel). These hotels will also give you a ride to the hotel, while a few will upgrade your room at no additional charge.

Those that are flying in, however, will probably want something that’s close to the airport.

What will you do when the cruise is over? There is so much to see and do in Miami, you may want to stay forever. Try extending your trip a few extra days to fully take advantage of everything the city has to offer you. We want you to be able to relax and let go of all your stress, and just have fun.

Here’s a short list of some extra places you can visit while you’re here. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of it. Allow Miami to help you make memories that will last a lifetime.

Miami Beach: You can’t visit Miami without visiting sandy beaches and soaking up some rays. There’s just something about listening to the waves and letting the sand get in-between your toes to help you forget your worries and relax.

Visit the Art Deco District: The Art Deco District here in Miami is a sight to behold, with its bright colors and 1930’s nostalgia. It’s a place to let your imagination run free.

The Vizcaya Museum: If you’re a fan of history, this is the place to visit. Walk through the rooms of the Renaissance-style vista filled with art from the 15 th and 16 th centuries. Set your eyes on the breath-taking courtyard and take in the beauty of it.

Miami Zoo: And for the animal lovers, the Miami Zoo is an absolute must. It features open-air exhibits and a cage-free environment, allowing animals to not feel trapped, and for visitors to have the chance to watch endangered wildlife up close. It may not be the biggest zoo, but it will certainly be memorable.

The list of hotels above includes many highly rated hotels that offer reasonable rates for the location and quality. All the hotels mentioned above offer shuttle transportation to the cruise port (usually for a small fee), while many others have a full “park and go” package, allowing you to leave your car in safe hands and avoid hefty parking prices at the cruise port.

The 14-story hotel is smoke-free and features an outdoor pool, workout room, self-service cafe and both self- and valet parking. This is a corporate chain hotel and the decor reflects that. The Port of Miami where cruise ships dock is a five-minute drive away.

Holiday Inn Port of Miami Downtown

The 200-room Holiday Inn Port of Miami-Downtown is a city gem for budget-conscious travelers, offering a prime location, outdoor pool, casual bar and grill, gym, and even same-day dry cleaning. Classic rooms have flat-screen TVs and mini-fridges, and some have Brickell Key views. Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton – Miami Brickell Downtown

Brickell, miami, florida, united states.

Although designed to meet the needs of corporate guests and other short-stay travelers, the 221-room Hampton Inn & Suites seems to delight customers of every stripe. Guests praise the helpful staff, stylish, well-maintained ambience and location for its strolling distance to scores of downtown Miami restaurants. The free breakfast buffet is a Hampton chainwide standard but seems especially inviting here, thanks to a bright and cheerful eating area with enough elbow room around the wafflemaker to accommodate a full house. Contemporary rooms are very spacious and and have a bit more color and style than is typical for the chain. Overall, the hotel is a surprisingly appealing choice for guests en route to a cruise, flight or business meeting.

The 149-room River Park Hotel & Suites Downtown/Convention Center is an no-fuss budget hotel with classic decor, a pool, and a prime Miami River location that appeals to budget-conscious guests and cruise ship travelers. Traditional suites offer sitting areas and kitchenettes. The Comfort Suites is a mid-range chain hotel near the Miami International Airport. Located just beyond the airport complex, there is little around the hotel and the area is fairly unappealing to walk, but a free shuttle is provided to both the airport and the Port of Miami. The hotel is best suited for travelers looking to get in and out of town quickly, but its oversized rooms may be useful to families wanting to see Miami on a budget.

InterContinental Miami

This huge 641-room downtown tower has been regularly renovated -- the lobby was redone in 2008, and guestrooms were refreshed in 2012. Aloft Miami – Brickell

The 160-room mid-range Aloft Miami Brickell is a trendy, modern hotel located on the edge of downtown Miami’s financial district near the James L. The vibe is young, hip, and social, with plenty of common spaces, such as the 24-hour Re:fuel cafe, where guests can hang out or work using the free Wi-Fi. Rooms are spacious, clean, and creatively designed, with ergonomic work areas, and big, comfy beds. The Port of Miami, where the cruise ships dock, is about a 10-minute drive away (the hotel offers shuttle service for a fee).

all cruise hotels miami

YVE Hotel Miami

The modern and sleek YVE Hotel Miami attracts business and cruise ship travelers because of the close proximity to the port of Miami and downtown area of the city. There's an on-site restaurant and bar, Biscayne Tavern, that serves gourmet burgers and seafood dishes. Rooms are clean with modern furniture and soothing colors (whites, blues, and grays), but some are on the smaller side and there have been complaints of noise from the hallway and adjoining rooms. The port of Miami is a 10-minute drive away and the hotel offers a shuttle there for a fee.

20+ Best Miami “Park and Cruise” Hotels (Free/Discount Parking)

Miami hotels with cruise parking can save you a bundle of money.

When it comes to budgeting for a cruise, everyone knows about the cost of the cruise itself. But most people (especially first-time cruisers) don’t realize that parking can be a huge expense as well.

Cruise hotel in Florida

The Port of Miami’s official parking costs a pricey $22 per day ($25-28 if sailing Royal Caribbean) or about $150 for a 7-day cruise! While some nearby independent lots charge significantly less, the price still adds up over the course of a week.

The good news is that you don’t have to shell out this money. A little-known tip is that many hotels in the area cater to cruisers. If you stay at least one night with them, they offer discounted parking during your cruise.

If you’re not planning to stay in a hotel, then buying a room simply for the parking isn’t likely worth it. But if you planned on staying in the area anyway, be sure to ask about parking during your cruise.

More Hotel Ideas: You can also click here to see inexpensive hotels near the Miami cruise port or see hotels with shuttles to the port area .

How to Book Parking During Your Cruise

Now, booking hotel parking for your cruise isn’t always as straightforward as you’d think. There are several different ways to get parking and how to book will depend on the specific hotel. While we’ve laid out all the details, it’s always a good idea to call the hotel directly before booking , as the offers can change.

1. Booking a hotel package: Many hotels offer packages through their website that include parking. Room rates are normally higher than what you’d pay without the parking package, but still more affordable than parking at the port.

2. Paying a per-night fee: Other hotels simply let you pay a daily parking fee while you leave your car there instead of booking a package.

3. Third-party hotel parking: Some hotels have started to work with third-party websites for parking. If you call the hotel, they will direct you to book with the website if you want to leave your car during the cruise.

Below, we’ve covered more than 20 Miami hotels with cruise parking offered. Click on each hotel name to read reviews and see pricing on Kayak.

For hotels that offer parking packages, you may have to book through the hotel website. It’s a good idea to compare the base rate with the parking deal to make sure you are saving money versus parking elsewhere.

DoubleTree Biscayne Bay Among the closest hotels to the port that offers cruise parking, the DoubleTree Biscayne Bay is a high-end hotel that sits right on the water. In fact, you can see the cruise ships from the hotel. It’s also within walking distance of the Frost Science Museum.

Rooms run between $175-$300 for most nights. The “Park & Cruise” deal that’s offered adds about another $130 to the price, lets you leave your car while you cruise for up to eight nights, and gives you a shuttle to the port for two. That’s slightly cheaper than parking at the port if you planned to stay anyway. Note that during the night you stay, there is a $39 valet parking fee.

Hampton Inn & Suites Miami/Brickell-Downtown Located in downtown Miami less than three miles from the port, the Hampton Inn Brickell-Downtown isn’t just conveniently located. It also gets some of the highest ratings for any hotel in our list.

According to its website , the hotel has an exclusive “Park, Stay, & Cruise” offer when booking direct . It includes discounted parking of $19 per day for up to a week. That’s a few bucks less per day than parking at the terminal unless parking at the Royal Caribbean terminal, which costs extra. Rates for this deal were about $40 than the normal flexible rate.

SpringHill Suites Miami Downtown/Medical Center We’ll admit that the location of this hotel right next to an elevated freeway isn’t the greatest, but it does offer parking at a sharp discount to the port and gets good reviews.

Specifically, the hotel has a pre or post-cruise package on their website. With this special you’ll get $10 per day parking for up to 7 nights , as well as complimentary transportation to the cruise port (you’ll need to arrange a ride back). Rates we saw were about $50 higher than the base room rate, so you’ll need to do the math on if it’s worth it for your parking.

Hampton Inn Coconut Grove Hampton Inn is known for offering great value and comfy rooms. You can get a room that comes with the “Park and Go” package rate. With this offer, you can park your car after check-out for $15 per day — about a third less than the rate of parking at the port. You will need to arrange a ride to the cruise terminal.

  • Distance to Port: 7 miles
  • Review Rating: 3.5 out of 5
  • Phone: 305-642-8570

Miami Airport Marriott Another Marriott property next to the Residence Inn mentioned above, this hotel also offers a “Park And Fly” package. You will need to arrange transportation to and from the port, which will run about $15 each way.

  • Distance to Port: 7.5 miles
  • Phone: 305-649-5000

Courtyard Miami Airport Highly rated and right near the airport, it’s hard to go wrong staying at a name-brand like the Courtyard by Marriott. • Distance to Port: 9 miles
  • Phone: 305-264-4888

Comfort Suites Miami Airport North A newer hotel right by the airport, you can stay here for relatively little compared to hotels by the port. A phone call to the hotel told us that they have parking for $12 per day while you cruise . That’s $10 per day off the rate charged at the cruise port. In addition, they offer a shuttle over to the cruise port for free, but you will need to arrange a ride back to fetch your car.

  • Phone: 305-888-8404

Comfort Inn & Suites Miami International Airport Opened in 2019, this new spot is ideal for cruise passengers. While it’s a good distance from the cruise port, it does offer a free shuttle to the terminals. As well, a call to the hotel told us that you can park here for just $12 per day while you cruise . • Phone: 305-921-4268

Hampton Inn Miami Airport/Blue Lagoon Blue Lagoon is a unique area just south of the Miami airport that is a literal lagoon. The body of water in the middle of the city is unique and cuts down on some of the concrete jungle that can be Miami.

It is also highly rated, and with its “Park and Go” parking package , you can get up to 10 nights parking included for about $100 over the base rate, although the rate difference varies.

Hilton Garden Inn Miami Airport West Even if you’re staying in Miami and want to park, it doesn’t mean you have to stay at the pricier hotels near the port. This option is by the airport and offers rooms for as little as around $100 a night in some cases.

The hotel also has a “Park and Cruise” package that includes seven nights parking and a ride to the cruise port. Our search found rates about $50 above the base night rate. That’s considerably cheaper than parking at the port.

  • Phone: 305-629-7701

Hyatt Place Miami Airport-West/Doral Headed out on a longer cruise or back-to-back sailing? This might be your best option. The hotel provides up to 14 nights parking included in their parking special (technically it’s a “Park and Fly” package designed for those flying somewhere, but you can park during your cruise). That length of trip would cost you more than $300 at the Port of Miami for parking alone. The hotel’s package price is only about $20 over the standard nightly rate.

One thing to note is that you are about 12 miles form the port and transportation is not included. Even so, the ride will only cost you about $20-25 each way meaning you still save a bundle versus parking at the cruise terminal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are park and cruise packages more expensive than regular hotel rates? In most cases yes, you will pay more for a parking package than you will if you just booked the cheapest no frills rate. For example, a hotel might be $150 a night normally, but charge $180 for the parking package. Still, the extra cost is lower than the price of parking at the Port of Miami, which charges $22 per day ($25-28 if sailing Royal Caribbean).

How do I get to my car after my cruise? Some hotels offer transportation round trip between the hotel and the cruise port. However, you might have noticed that some only offer one-way trips… and some no ride at all. You can get a taxi, Uber, or Lyft between the hotel and port for between $10-20, depending on the location.

I am sailing from Fort Lauderdale. Are there park and cruise hotels there? Yes. South Florida is a mecca of cruising. No matter which port you are sailing from in the area, it will have hotels nearby that cater to cruise passengers. While you aren’t likely to find many Miami hotels that cater to Fort Lauderdale passengers (and vice versa), you can read our Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) hotels with park and cruise packages .

City & Shore Magazine

City & shore magazine | a postcard from ‘grandeur,’ regent seven seas’ newest cruise ship.

The 'Grandeur' at dawn in PortMiami.

Why we wish you were here

Because Grandeur’s about as close as you’re going to feel you’ve boarded a private yacht on a commercial cruise ship.

Not that boarding here is particularly stressful, but there are chilled flutes of Heidsieck Monopole Blue Top Brut waiting at the end of the gangway from everything you left behind at PortMiami. There’s another bottle of Monopole in an ice bucket in your suite, too, in the unlikely event you feel any stress getting there.

The 332-square-foot Concierge Suite feels spacious, with a walk-in closet and good separation between the cabin door and the living areas. A valet brings the luggage and sets it on a welcome blanket across the king-sized bed. The 83-square-foot balcony is bigger than some cabins – possibly homes –  I’ve personally occupied, and comes with a pair of 8.5 x 21 Pentax Papillo II binoculars, because you’re going to see some things from up here.

There’s a shower and tub in the marbled bathroom. Lavender bubble bath and jasmine shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body milk, all by L’Occitane. There’s a phone in there, too, in case you think of anything you may require from the steward. (He was out in the hall memorizing guest names the last time I saw him. He remembered mine. Even pronounced it correctly). Details you’d expect on a private yacht.

View of Miami from a suite aboard 'Grandeur.'

Everywhere throughout this 14-deck, 735-foot ship, there are such small, elegant touches that say big things. The tables spread with white linens in the stylish Compass Rose dining room on Deck 4 are set with Rosenthal Versace china designed exclusively for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The cozy loungers and Jacuzzis off the Serene Spa & Wellness Center on Deck 5 overlook the ship’s wake and, shhhhhh , hardly anyone knows about them.

Then there’s the haute cuisine and the name-dropping Louis VIII, Opus One, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellar labels around the ship. And the feeling you’ve checked into a boutique hotel at sea. Or a private yacht. One where the Caribbean or the Mediterranean or the Gulf of St. Lawrence comes to you.

What they’re drinking

Strawberry Sparklers aboard 'Grandeur.'

Strawberry Sparkler

Ingredients

5 ozs. High-quality prosecco

¾ oz. Fragoli, a wild strawberry liqueur

1 Tbsp. Fresh strawberries, puréed

Sliced fresh strawberries (for garnish)

Sliced fresh lemon (for garnish)

An homage to Grandeur’s Italian shipyard roots, this simple cocktail is pretty and refreshing. Purée the fresh strawberries, strain the fiber from the liquid; add strawberry liquids and chilled prosecco in a champagne glass. Serve with a slice or two of strawberry and lemon.

“Do I want a big pop or small pop? [Crowd, answering, timidly: “uh, small pop?”] Small pop, right! Why do I want a small pop? [Crowd shifts silently, not sure.] Because chefs are cheap! We like to save money. So what we love to do is save as much champagne or prosecco as possible.”

– Culinary Arts Kitchen Cooking Class Chef John Stephano, showing his 18 students how to open a bottle of bubbly without losing a drop.

What’s cooking

Chef John Stephano shows his class aboard 'Grandeur' how to plate the crepes they will make.

There are four specialty restaurants aboard Grandeur, and one cooking class that can teach you how to make your own memorable meal.

“What do you never want to do on vacation?” Chef John Stephano teases the 18 guests before his hour-long Culinary Arts Cooking Class. “The last thing you ever want to do is the dishes. Anybody who really struggles in their culinary skills today we’ll be sending down to the galleys to help us out.”

Nervous laughs around the cooking stations in the Culinary Arts Kitchen on Deck 11.

“No, not at all!” he says, laughing, before showing his class how to make Pasta al Limone and classic French crêpes with allspice berry ice cream.

Stephano comes from a big Irish-Italian family in Philadelphia, where there was always something cooking on the stove, he says. Since no open-flame gas burners are allowed on the ship, he’s had to adapt some of his grandmother’s recipes to the induction cooktops each member of his class gets to work with.

“You can’t use regular pots and pans on these stoves – they have to be magnetic,’’ he says. “I always hear from someone who likes cooking with induction so much here they want to get it at home, then find out they have to change all of their cooking utensils.”

For the pasta dish, students learn what mise en place means (literally, everything in place), whether to add the oil to the water or the pan, how to use a zester for the lemon, whether to rip or cut the basil and how to serve pasta (in a warm bowl warmed with the pasta water.) After about 20 minutes of the chef’s steady guidance, everyone’s pasta al limone looks ready for the cover of a food magazine.

“Who wants a picture with their pasta!?” Everyone does.

The crêpe instruction follows, including a two-handed, chef-secret dump and roll maneuver to get the batter to spread evenly on the pan.

“I want you to ease in, like you’re driving a race car,’’ he says, demonstrating. “No flipping crêpes here – try that at home if you like.”

Twenty minutes later, the crêpes also all look magazine-cover ready. (It may help that Strawberry Sparkler cocktails were served before class began).

“Nice job,’’ Stephano says, reviewing mine.

“Thanks, chef!” I say, not exactly ready to join the cast of The Bear but ridiculously impressed with myself.

Faberge egg aboard 'Grandeur.'

Don’t miss, part I

Impossible to miss, really, because Grandeur’s Fabergé egg is among the first things you see (after the welcome champagne) when you board on Deck 5. Sarah Fabergé, great-grand daughter of Peter Fabergé, was aboard for the christening of the ship and unveiling of the 180 mm, diamond, pearl and emerald egg last December in Miami. If you must ask, “I can’t disclose the value – other than it was created especially for Regent,’’ a spokesperson says. “I will say it’s in the multi millions.” And worth even more to lend the impression you’ve stepped onto someone’s private yacht. Someone with deep pockets – and considerable taste in art.

The library aboard 'Grandeur.'

Don’t miss part II

While some cruise lines are downsizing – even replacing ship libraries with crêpe stations ( ca alors !) – Grandeur’s library is lovingly, borderline reverently, tended. If libraries are making a last stand, this one’s an oceangoing Alamo – with eclectic out-of-nowhere titles ranging from “L’Âpre et splendide Espagne” by Camille Mauclair to “The Bazaars of Istanbul” by Isabel Bocking. Biography, history, fiction, large print, nautical transport, practical advice, reference, science & natural history, sports & leisure, travel & travel writing, visual arts and children’s books – all within easy-to-grab and sprawl on a nearby comfy couch or chair.

Not that there’s anything wrong with the live shows in the two-level Constellation Theater, featuring a demographically hep mix of hits from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s performed by an earnest troupe of singers and dancers. They’re fine after-dinner diversions. But “Key Largo” is playing on a loop on the big-screen TV in the cabin. And if you haven’t seen it, it’s one of Bogie and Bacall’s best. Just saying.

Sunrise jogging on the 'Grandeur' track.

Regent Seven Seas Grandeur

Accommodating 744 guests, with 372 suites and 532 crew. Four specialty restaurants, including Compass Rose; Pacific Rim, an Asian-Fusion restaurant; Chartreuse, a French restaurant; Prime 7, a steakhouse. Casual eateries include Sette Mari, at the back of La Veranda dining area on Deck 11, which does breakfast and lunch in the morning/afternoon and Italian food at night; pool-grille cafe/buffet and Coffee Connection. Fitness center and spa with a sauna. Jogging track, putting green, bocce court, pickleball court. Boutique, casino, business center, among other amenities. The Grandeur is sailing the Mediterranean now through August. It returns to PortMiami (from New  York) on Nov. 7, where it will resume various itineraries through March 2025 before returning to Europe.
