Like many other tour companies, Globus goes a lot of places. But where it really shines is with its focus on creating different tour types to suit different travel styles. Globus tour types include:

  • Small Group Discoveries :   Globus’ small-group departures are offered on all Europe and North America tours. These Small Group Discoveries trips average 20 to 24 travelers (compared to classic tour group average group size of 38).
  • Choice Touring:   Globus is the first escorted tour company to offer this sort of adaptive touring. On select stops on European and North American Choice Touring itineraries, guests can choose from three or four possible excursions (all included in the price). So, for example, while visiting Athens, you can choose a tour of the Acropolis Museum, a trip to the Temple of Poseidon, or a cruise to Aegina Island. Globus has 13 Choice Touring itineraries.
  • Undiscovered Tours :   With its deep-dive approach into lesser-known destinations, Globus’ Undiscovered Tours are ideal for repeat travelers to a destination and anyone looking for a slower, more in-depth experience.
  • Escapes by Globus : Off-season Escapes by Globus tours operate between November and March, and offer both better pricing (on average 30% less than the same tour during high season) and benefits like fewer crowds at popular spots. Globus offers 20 Escapes by Globus itineraries, mostly in Europe.
  • Independence by Globus :  New staring in 2023, Globus now offers a selection of independent city stay vacation packages (in Europe) and independent tours (in farther-flung destinations). This option offers the ease of booking that travelers get on a tour with the flexibility that comes with independent travel.
  • Special Event Tours : Globus also offers tours focused on North America’s iconic celebrations like Tournament of Roses Parade, Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta, and Alaska’s Iditarod race. These tours include up-close views and behind-the-scenes experiences.
  • Faith-Based Travel :   Globus offers a range of Faith-Based Vacations that offer a chance to reflect upon centuries of religious history.  These Europe-and-Middle-East-focused Christianity-based itineraries explore sacred locations in the Holy Land, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Tour Guides

Globus Tour Directors average over 20 years with the company.  Guides’ extensive training includes certification by the destination authority as well as proficiency in multiple languages, (including the local language). And most Tour Directors are from the country in which they tour.

Inclusions/Extras

GO IN COMFORT: How to Choose the Best Walking Shoes for Travel

Globus also provides access to its Globus GO app, which provides easy access to all tour components, including schedules, hotels, included features, destination information, optional excursions, interactive maps, and more.  This access is provided 30 to 40 days prior to departure.

Loyalty Program

The Globus family of brands (Globus, Cosmos, Avalon River Cruises) offers a Welcome Back Credit for all guests.  Each time you travel on a Globus family of brands vacation, you can earn up to a $250 (per person) Welcome Back Credit to use toward a future vacation.

The amount of credit (per person) on the tour price:

  • $2,499 or Less =   You earn $100 credit for a future tour
  • $2,500 to $3,499 = $150 credit
  • $3,500 to $4,499 = $200 credit
  • $4,500 & Over =   $250 credit

Guests have two years to book/deposit a vacation using the credit.

Private Options

Any Globus Europe tour can be converted into a Private Tour with a dedicated Tour Director, private transportation and driver, and personal, professional Local Guides. An additional premium, based on the overall number of guests, is charged for each traveler in addition to the published tour price. Every Private Tour includes all of the visits and entrances as outlined in the original published itinerary. And going private gives you the advantage of greater flexibility in pace and experience. To find out more, choose your tour from the existing Globus Europe portfolio, then reach out to Globus saying you’re interested in Private Tours and letting them know the number in your group (from 1 to 24 people).

Sustainability Efforts

Machu Picchu- broad view of site and mountains

Globus has merged all of its sustainability initiatives into the Lighthouse Project , which focuses on economic, social, and environmental support projects. There are dozens of specific causes within each category. Some projects are specific to a destination while others are broader–for instance its support of ocean cleanup efforts.

Health and Safety Practices

Globus has an extensive health and safety policy that currently includes enhanced cleaning of vehicles, ships, and hotels; and health screenings for guides and drivers.

Avoid the Gibraltar add-on

Avoid the Gibraltar add-on We recently returned from a wonderful trip to Spain. We chose the Independent package so we could go at our own pace. Everything was great, we had awesome guides for our walking tours in Barcelona, Madrid & Malaga, but we made the mistake of adding the Gibraltar tour. We boarded the bus at the meeting spot by 6:50 am. The bus was nice but seats were cramped, we were not allowed to eat on the bus and my husband was told not to recline his seat. The bus made numerous stops and about 3 1/2 hours later we were dropped off to go through immigration. The tour guide on the bus was horrible, I think her name was Michelle, she explained things in 4 different languages and by the end of it we were all confused. The bus was supposed to be waiting for us on the other side of immigration. We made it through without any delays only to realize the bus had taken off without us and 2 other couples. By then it was close to noon without a break for food or to use a bathroom and we were lost crossing the street back and forth looking for our bus. Finally another bus took us where we needed to be. At that point we found the line to use a sad restroom. We had a chance to shop at the duty free shops and then we met a new driver who took us on a tour. This tour guide was very nice and personable, he was very informative but this part was very rushed. Michelle then gave us an additional hour at the duty free area to make up for the earlier chaos. Finally boarded the bus back to Malaga to hear Michelle repeatedly ask for tips for her and the driver. My tip to you is be professional, hand out printed instructions in traveler’s languages and earn your tips.

Best of Switzerland

This was our first GLOBUS tour and our third bus tour in Europe. We enjoyed all the places we stopped at and thought they were worth a visit. It’s a quick overnight and then on to the next place. The hotels were very nice with the exception of the first hotel in Zurich. Overall, there were no glitches on the tour and we thought it went smoothly. The first night starts on a wrong note because we stayed in a business area of Zurich on a Sunday where everything is closed. The Welcome Dinner was sparse and the food bland and very disappointing for a first impression. If you have time and money I would recommend extending your stay to add a couple of nights in the old town in Zurich, otherwise all you will see of it is on the quick walking tour the following day. GLOBUS could improve its communication. There were no Name Badges or Activity Level ratings for Excursions on this tour. The Tour Director was not the same as shown in our packet. It would have been nice to have been given a business card with our Directors contact information. You only have the “Free time” mentioned in the daily itinerary if you don’t go on the optional excursion. You will not see much at some stops if you do the excursion so you should do your own research and decide. We were glad we decided to spend time in Stresa, it’s very quaint and easy to get around.

Love Scotland!

My experience was made much more rewarding and satisfying by the immense knowledge of our tour guide, Charlie, in conjunction with his personality and love for the country and its people. Our excursions were great, our driver, Mark, extremely adept at handling that massive bus, and our accommodations were very comfortable.

Our guide Luis was exceptional in every…

Our guide Luis was exceptional in every way - professionalism, commentary, organization, etc. Excursions, hotels, and meals were all very good, but the hotels could have been more centrally located. Our big disappointment was that Globus was not completely clear in the tour description that the included city tour in Barcelona would not include the INTERIOR of the Sagrada Familia, the #1 attraction in the city! Also, we were kept waiting over a half-hour on the bus for a lost group member after being told that we would not delay the city tour for anyone, causing us to miss the Gothic Quarter.

Many wild dogs & cats roaming around in…

Many stray/wild dogs & cats roaming around in Turkey. Also many archeologist sites very dangerous as steps are not marked & slippery or broken and most places have no railings. One of our friends fell & broke his foot in 3 places so be very careful & I would not recommend for older folks

Beware!! Check if the ferries are running before you book this tour!!! Just completed the 10 Day Scottish Highland Fling tour. We booked this tour to go to the islands and missed most of them due to "ferry trouble'. The trouble was our bus could not get on the ferry that was running to Isle of Skye, Mull and Iona. Globus knew this may happen since our tour guide mentioned it early in the tour and did not provide any interesting alternatives for those days or try to get us on the island without the bus or compensate us for our loss. Globus should also be ashamed putting paying customers in the Mercure Hotel in Inverness on a Saturday night. 2 bars right below the hotel raged till 3am and no one got any sleep. This was my first Globus tour and I have no confidence in them to book another.

Wonderful trip wit tour…

Wonderful trip with our excellent tour guide. The tour offered so much at a very good price. The hotels were all high end and so lovely. The tour took us to a lot of special places in Portugal and Spain. Great memories!!!

Great holiday experience

We enjoyed the sightseeing, hotels and dining experience. The tour was very well-organized. Our guide, Holm, and driver, Kristin, were wonderfully competent, fun, and thoughtful.

The tour director was great

The tour director was great! Miguel was organized, friendly and funny while keeping the group of 44 all together

Trip was good!

Trip was good! Scotland is a beautiful country filled with interest cultural attractions. The cities we explore were nice and offer a lot of sights to take in. Understanding the history made it even better. The downside was the Program Director (Charley) was not very helpful. The PD was extremely intelligent and was filled with knowledge that made trip even better. Where he failed was in the practical area. He wasn’t good at giving you times and places to meet. Therefore fellow passengers were always asking where and what times to gather for excursions, dinners or whatever event to attend. It happened more often than not. Interesting enough most people made it on time and right location. This could be attributed to all of us helping one another. I have never been on one of these trips where times and locations were not written down in some location in the hitel. This was done on the first day for those activities. It wasn’t done again throughout the rest of our trip. He was enjoyable to listen to, but seemed to take a lot for granted. Overall I would recommend the trip, but would explain to make sure times and meetind places were well understood.

Wonderful trip to VietnamThis was a great trip

This was a great trip. The route and schedule were perfect. The number of nights in each location was just right and Dinh the tour guide was fantastic.

Mediocre customer service

6/27/2024 Very bad company. It is not a travel agent but a tour operator which already has organized tours. The staff is not knowledgeable and rude.

Date of experience : 27 June 2024

The tour was great

The tour was great. Our tour guide, Miguel, was delightful. So was our bus driver, Joao. The only drawback was that some of the hotels were a little shabby. Globus probably needs to find some alternatives.

Tunde was a great tour guide and knowledgeable. She is excellent on her job.

Tunde was a great tour guide... the hotels in Montreux has a great view however the receptionist were NOT helpful and SNUB. The coach driver was amazing. Astoria hotel in Lucerne was very small and the service was below standard, This holiday package was mostly on the Coach journey. I had fun because my friend was with me but this is not recommendable as its rush, tiring and i felt i am just always on the coach travelling.

First Globus tour

First Globus tour, guides and lodging were wonderful, experience was ever better than I expected. Everything was flawless

Great guides, interesting sites. The meals provided by Globus were very mediocre- that was our only complaint. Hotels were fantastic.

One checked bag not ncluded in tour price!…

The independent trip to Australia was great however in the included air travel between Cairns and Sydney, we were charged over $220 to check one bag each. The baggage should have been included in our tour booking and Globus has not reimbursed us.

First tour with you

First tour with you. Definitely an excellent experience all around. Plan to do another trip with you.

The staff were very good

The staff were very good. Even though the time requirements for the early morning rising were very taxing, the arrival at the sites were worth it. We definitely beat the crowds. The sights and temples were a once a lifetime experience

About the company.

Why Travel with Globus?

Perfectly Planned. Seriously Stress Free.

After 90-plus years of sharing the world with travelers, Globus has set the gold standard for award-winning touring across virtually every continent. Our global network of premiere travel partners, operations experts, and hospitality pros share one goal in mind—an exceptional travel experience no matter where we travel together.

Beyond the Guidebooks.

While Italy is synonymous with spectacular food, it is the close family connection that brings generations of tradition to the table. Globus goes beyond typical tours to introduce you to local legends and local experiences not found on just any map. Meet the Bonajuto family at Antica Dolceria—the oldest confectionery in Sicily. More than 150 years after the dolceria was founded by Francesco Bonajuto, the family still serves its heavenly chocolates in the same spot, while also serving as international ambassadors of Sicilian cuisine. Che dolce!

Don’t Miss the Must Sees.

Why stand in line to catch a fleeting glimpse of ancient ruins and remarkable historic sites? Globus gives you VIP access with an expert Local Guide to go deeper, get closer, and soak it all in. From the Parthenon to the Vatican museums, you’ll explore Europe’s most beloved locations without getting lost in a crowd or waiting in line. Don’t just file past masterpieces like Michelangelo’s David or get only a hurried look at the Crown Jewels in Edinburgh Castle. Experience Europe’s extraordinary sights—and historic sites—with the VIP access you deserve.

Dreams Realized.

The Colosseum. The Prado. Saint Paul’s Cathedral. Each Globus tour always includes the legendary landmarks, the major attractions, and the must-see sites. Going beyond the iconic exteriors, we lead you to the front of the line, straight through the door, and inside the walls of Europe’s most awe-inspiring places for an exclusive look behind the scenes. With priority access, we ensure you behold the sights you’ve long dreamed of—without waiting any longer!

Do as the Locals Do.

When in Rome—or London, Paris, or Barcelona—we arrange for you to do as the locals do, not just what the tourists do. In every itinerary, we include hands-on, authentic experiences for a true taste of a day in the life. Board a private water taxi through the Grand Canal of Venice, bake scones in an Irish farmhouse, or sample Geysir Schnapps in Iceland. By striking a golf ball at St. Andrews or dancing the Sirtaki while sipping ouzo, you truly get to step into someone else’s shoes and experience the world from an insider’s perspective.

Adventure, a la Carte

While Globus vacations get you up close and personal to the world's must-see sights and unforgettable experiences, we also know the value of spending time on your own to explore as you please. After all, travel is meant to be filled with memorable moments of your own with serendipitous surprises that can’t be planned or scheduled. We build free time into every itinerary so you can leisurely explore the beckoning bookstore, tempting café table, or whimsical window shopping that's schedule free. Don’t wait a lifetime for that once-in-a-lifetime experience that’s waiting just around the corner!

Pick your Passion.

Maybe you’re an art lover, a foodie, or a history buff. Perhaps you’re moved by music, art, cuisine, or theater. Or maybe making tracks in the great outdoors is more your speed. We offer a wide array of optional excursions and activities—tailored to a variety of fitness levels and interests—so you can customize your adventure with your own personal passions and preferences. Each Globus excursion and activity has been personally tested by us and handpicked to allow you to really get to know each destination. You never have to choose between included and optional excursions, since optional activities fit seamlessly with your vacation schedule!

A Friend in Every City.

Join us and a few of our friends in your next dream destination. After all, we’ve spent over 90 years making friends in virtually every city and country in the world who let us in on local secrets, like where to find the best scone, stein, or spumoni; the best people-watching table; or the best view of wide-open spaces. Every Globus vacation includes local experts who share the stories behind the sights and Local Favorites you won’t find in the guidebooks. Globus Tour Directors and Local Guides hail from the region through which you’re traveling. No one is more familiar, passionate, or eager to share insider knowledge than our local pros!

Ireland is Great

Recently, toured with Globus on the Irish Escape. My sister and I had a ball. The tour was very organized as always. The Republic of Ireland was welcoming. The people were nice and helpful. We used the public Tran in Dublin and found the people to be hospitable and kind. I would definitely go back. Our guide, Julian, was the perfect host and guide. He was able to to enhance our tour with his vast knowledge.

This is my 6th tour with GLOBUS and as always it was a wonderful experience. So well organized, I don't have to worry about anything. Even when I had to change my flight, they were able to make the necessary changes to ensure that we were picked up at the airport. We are able to see so many amazing cities and the optional excursions are great if you choose them.

Extremely poor service, don’t waist your money.

I booked an end of tenancy cleaning including oven clean. The service was very poor, the cleaners left a lot of dirt that I had to clean myself. When I asked for a refund, the manager insisted that the job was done up to standards (their poor standards apparently) and still demanded to be paid. He only dropped the total price by £50. I would never go with this company ever again. Their attention to details and customer service is exceptionally poor. Don’t waist your money.

Greece - The Travelling Goddesses + 1

The people on the tour and the tour guide. It was one of the best trips that I have taken on Globus. I travelled along and didn't know what to expect, however it's always and adventure when I travel. Great group of people from around the world and the tour guide was engaging, humorous, and very accommodating in meeting the needs of group. I love the tour schedule and the last night dinner was outstanding!

Everything about Globus was great

Everything about Globus was great. We had a fabulous tour guide, Fabiola, our bus driver was excellent, the bus was comfortable and our accommodations were excellent. The tour guides along the tour were knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely travel with Globus again.

Globus = not for us and possibly not for you

From the moment the agent sold us the trip things went downhill. The agent Cynthia would no longer assist us and referred us to the 800 number which was not responsive. The trip was grueling and the tour director was rigid and allowed no deviations from her schedule including when both of us became ill. We contacted Globus midway through the trip to see what our options might be to end the tour and received no response until the last day. Our Driver - Vinnie was excellent and helpful. Very little variation in the food offered at the hotels. We loved the hotel in Liverpool and the Titanic exhibit in Belfast was a highlight.

Yellowstone Winter Wonderland

Our guide Steve Osten was very knowledgeable and personable. His love of Yellowstone infused enthusiasm into the whole group. National Parks don’t have TV and that is wonderful for disconnecting and relaxing. The drivers of the bus and the snow coaches added to the learning experience. Restaurant s and food were great. The west Yellowstone hotel breakfast didn’t measure up to the other accommodations.

You have to see Greece

Greece is a beautiful Country and we had the opportunity to see the best areas on our trip. It was well organized and the hotels were nice- especially Olympia and Delphi! Very knowledgeable guide who also was our tour director.

The tour was absolutely amazing

The tour was absolutely amazing. I would have been great to have skipped Johannesburg all together and spent more time in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, but it was great. Our tour guide was so helpful, pleasant, and knowledgeable. Can't wait to book my next Globus Tour.

Well organized trip

I enjoyed that the trip was well organized and that we had an excellent guide, who brought Egypt both ancient and modern alive for us. There were a variety of excursions so that participants could pick and choose what interested them.

Tasty and Beautiful Scotland

We felt that the guide, Brian and Alistair really made the trip Fun and informative! We had a nice group of fellow travelers and that helped also. There was a wonderful blend of history and geography that truly earned The name " Taste of Scotland". We think there should be a followup...a sequel....10 days. Very pleased with my recent Globus tour! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable & very friendly. The tour was well organized and we had the opportunity to see lots of great sights. The hotel accommodations were great. Would definitely recommend Globus to other travellers.

Egypt was amazing!

Egypt was amazing! I learned so much from our guide, Shereen. So knowledgeable of ancient Egyptian history, and the area since she is a local. The trip was very active but so glad I was able to see so much history. We felt very safe the entire trip. The only downside was that the Globus app did not update as our flights home were canceled and it was agonizing (I'm a control freak!) not knowing how we were getting home.

We had so many photos opportunities

We had so many photos opportunities. The guide and driver were both very observant to stop and let us take photos. We were never hurried yet always arrived at our destination on time. The guide was very knowledgeable

Portugal with Globus's John Shaw

John Shaw, the tour director, was the main reason that the tour of Portugal was outstanding. The depth of his knowledge about Portugal and its history, his wit and humor made every day fun and interesting.

go with the flow

the awesome tour guide made it most wonderful. she was very knowledgeable and had a sense of humor. Things had to change due to circumstances out of anybodys control, everyone was polite and just went with the flow

My WOW trip…

On my recent trip to Costa Rica I could not have wished for a better experience. Globus was above and beyond my expectations. Very well organized. Fast paced inclusive trip. All guides and drivers were top notch. This was my second trip with Globus but most likely not my last.

Date of experience : February 17, 2024

Unfortunately we encountered two hurricanes. It didn't stop us from enjoying our trip. We loved the farm and the cliff of mors. Sad we didn't get to visit the Titanic museum. Next time.

Mildura’s Riverdream Boatel houseboat honoured at World Luxury Travel Awards

globus tours australia reviews

Riverdream Boatel, based on the Murray River, has been honoured as one of the Best Houseboats in Australia by the World Luxury Travel Awards.

The 5-star floating river vessel is the first to offer an opulent and diverse houseboat experience on the Murray with guests able to enjoy riverside and off-river experiences on Australia’s most iconic waterway.

That includes local fresh produce, rustic vineyards, national parks and salt lakes. Guests can also explore hidden swamps and billabongs on guided sunset kayak tours, encountering diverse birdlife along the way.

“Delivering top-tier luxury care is our number one commitment, and we aim to offer old-fashioned personalised service, creating lasting memories for our guests,” Riverdream Boatel owner Cheryl Broadbent-King said. “I am passionate about educating our guests about the beauty and charm of the Murray landscape through our luxurious and innovative packages.

“Every Australian should cherish the captivating history of our river. We provide this connection to nature in pure luxury and comfort.”

Broadbent-King’s created the Riverdream Boatel experience after a career in the finance industry, before transitioning to customer service, and representing high-profile clients in PR, sales and service, where she received numerous awards in service excellence.

“Looking after people is in my DNA,” Broadbent-King said. “I love spoiling people and making them feel special, and Riverdream Boatel gives me the energy and joy of making people happy, it is my dream job.”

The boatel features five staterooms, each with a king-size bed, ensuite, walk-in robe, Wi-Fi entertainment system, and climate control. The open-plan Sky Lounge offers a perfect setting for intimate celebrations, including birthdays, anniversaries, and family reunions.

Guests can indulge in pampering massages or facial rituals or gather around a campfire on the Murray’s banks to toast marshmallows and share stories under the stars. Mildura’s clear night skies also provide a stunning backdrop for photographers, with its vibrant sunsets and sunrises over limestone cliffs.
