G/FORE Tour 5 Pocket Trousers

These trousers offer a super fit - they’re smart, comfortable and, crucially, they hold their shape really well. They also travel well, which is really useful.

Exceptionally comfortable

Great cut and styling

Keep shape really well

Being a performance fabric means they won’t be to everyone's tastes for off course wear

Mike Harris

In years gone by, your only concern with golf trousers was getting the right waist and leg measurement. We demand a little more now, and we can appreciate the difference between a good pair of golf trousers and an average pair.

G/FORE’s Tour 5 Pocket trousers certainly fall into the former – they’re lightweight, breathable, stretchy and comfortable. In short, they're amongst the best golf trousers on the market - and I'm a big fan. What’s more, I like the fact G/FORE has a bit of attitude where golf clothing is concerned (the concealed FORE PLAY logo by the zipper underlines that) - it’s bringing fun to the golf apparel market, and in a way that doesn’t just involve introducing loads of bright and bold colours.

G/FORE Tour 5 Pocket Trousers

How tall am I/what is my build? 5ft 8.5 inches, medium build.

What do I normally wear – does it come up big/small? 32/30 trousers.

How did it fit/feel/perform? I really liked the flattering fit, and they were super lightweight, stretchy and comfortable. I found the pockets to be a good depth, so the scorecard was never in danger of falling out. Unlike chinos, which can lose their shape and crispness after one wear, these don’t – they keep their shape really well. They achieve that balance of being a good fit without looking super skinny. There is a more fitted version available, but I’d say that these trousers would suit 95 per cent of people.

G/FORE Tour 5 Pocket Trousers

Any extra details you notice? I like the stylish tone on tone G/FORE button on the back pocket. I even like G/FORE’s ‘Fore Play’ strapline on the zipper (as mentioned above).

Can you wear it off the course? They are good for travel, and because they keep their shape so well, and they’re light and comfortable, you could wear them on a flight and they’d still look smart the other end.

How does it come out after the wash/do you need to iron it? As per the brand’s instructions, I machine washed these on cold, inside out. If tumble drying, do so on low, although I just left them to dry. Ironing is not recommended.

Daikaiju Enterprises is pleased to announce a return to Japan for G-TOUR 4, taking place from October 25th through November 5th, 2024. G-TOUR is the name given to a series of Godzilla-centric voyages to Japan and is an opportunity to visit iconic sites from kaiju cinema, soak up some of the country’s natural beauty and culture, and engage in shopping experiences found nowhere else.

Four previous G-TOURs have taken place, in 2004, 2011, 2015, and 2016. (The one in 2016 was a Tokyo-only visit dubbed G-TOUR 3.5.) The three most recent have been organized by MYK Enterprises Ltd., an experienced niche-tour company with offices in both North America and Japan. MYK specializes in crafting small to medium-sized tours to the specific interests of the participants, and their G-TOUR specialist guide is well-versed in kaiju culture.

Most of the earlier G-TOURS were conducted at the height of summer, which offers many advantages, but summer is also a time of high heat and humidity in Japan. This time, the trip will take place in the late fall, which not only avoids the summer heat, but also offers a different view of Japan in its spectacular fall colors. It also coincides with Culture Day in Japan (November 3rd), which happens to be the anniversary of the release of the first Godzilla movie, and more recently, the day for staging the annual Godzilla Festival in Tokyo.

G-TOUR 4 offers a mix of traditional Japanese and kaiju culture (members can opt out of certain kaiju-themed day trips and will be provided alternative activities), urban and rural locales, and typical tourist fare contrasted with paths rarely traveled. The tour itinerary shown is confirmed, but it’s possible that changes and/or additions will be made based on availability and unpredicted events.

The cost for G-TOUR 4 is ¥550,000 (roughly $3,700 U.S. per person based on double occupancy), not including airfare. Participants will be departing for Japan from a variety of cities, and perhaps using points from various plans, so travel costs will vary and each passenger will need to make his or her own arrangements. MYK Travel will be happy to assist with airline matters.

Just as there’s nothing like seeing a Godzilla movie at G-FEST in the Pickwick Theater packed with G-fans, there’s nothing like touring Japan as part of a group of kaiju enthusiasts. Participation in G-TOUR 4 will be limited, so if you’d like to be a part of it, please get your application in early to make sure you don’t miss out on this “lifetime bucket list” event.

G-TOUR 4 Terms and Conditions

Tour price is ¥550,000 (Japanese yen) per person (about $3,700 U.S. at current rates of exchange). Price is based on double occupancy for hotels (two per room). Single supplement is ¥50,000. MYK reserves the right to adjust tour prices and tour content before August 31, 2024, based on drastic exchange rate fluctuations and number of participants.

What’s Included

Price also includes entrance fees to all events and attractions except those listed as “optional.” Price includes breakfast each day beginning October 27, 2024, up to and including November 5, 2024.

What’s Not Included/Travel Documents

Tour price does not include airfare or attractions listed in the itinerary as “optional,” additional baggage fees, insurance, meals (lunch and dinner), single supplement cost for hotel, optional dinners, optional tours/activities, items of a personal nature such as laundry, shopping, and all other expenses not indicated in the published itinerary.

All participants are responsible for booking their own return flights from point of departure to Tokyo (Narita or Haneda International Airport). Please book your air ticket early to ensure that you are checking in to the designated hotel after 3:00 PM on October 26, 2024, with return flight booked for 4:00 PM or later on November 5, 2024. Please contact MYK for any special requests, assistance with airline bookings, or extension of your trip beyond November 5th.

Individual travel documents (e.g., passport, visa, etc.) are the responsibility of the participants. MYK Enterprises and Daikaiju Enterprises are not responsible for participants who are unable to travel on scheduled dates due to insufficient travel documents (including, but not limited to, invalid passports, visa requirements, etc.) after paying deposits.

All participants are also responsible for verifying that any visa requirements for traveling to Japan are met. There are no visa requirements for Canadian and American passport holders traveling to Japan provided the stay is 90 days or less. It is highly recommended that your passport is valid for at least six months after the scheduled return date.

Important Dates/Payment Schedule

  • July 31, 2024: Deadline for submitting application to MYK. Invoice for non-refundable ¥20,000 deposit will be issued, payable within three days of receipt. (All applications after this date will be subject to availability.)

In such a case, the time for the performance of any obligation contracted shall be rescheduled to the mutual satisfaction of both parties. If an agreeable time cannot be established, 80% of the fees will be refunded.

We are very sad to announce that this fall’s G-TOUR 4 has been cancelled. Japan’s anti-COVID restrictions on foreign tourists simply won’t allow all the fun, experiences, and opportunities we intended to provide. Thanks to all who signed up, and very sorry for your disappointment.

The Tecnica Zero G Tour Pro could easily be overlooked due to its typical ski-boot-like appearance. It sports a four-buckle overlap design, rockered Vibram rubber sole, and ski/walk mechanism on the spine. Just a checklist beef boot with nothing to see here, right?

Wrong! The Tour Pro is elegantly simple and refined to such a degree that this boot will become the elusive one-boot quiver for many aggressive backcountry skiers. Four supportive buckles, one Light Lock Power Strap, and a Double Blocking ski/walk latch provide a true 130 flex. A 55-degree range of motion and relatively free cuff movement give it walkability to rival lighter boots. Tecnica also managed to get the weight of the Zero G Tour Pro so low that we don’t know whether to categorize this as a Beef Boot or a Touring Boot.

Tecnica didn’t set out to change the touring game with gimmickry, but the Zero G Tour Pro has been masterfully refined to a higher level.

  • Extra-light magnesium buckles keep it locked down without weight penalty.
  • Grilamid shell with a carbon cuff delivers uncompromising ski performance.
  • Double Blocking ski/walk latch means no play in your mech.
  • Vibram sole offers secure footing when boot packing and scrambling.
  • Dynafit-certified inserts provide confident tech-binding operation.

Update 2020/21: Zero G Pro Tour boot received a color change with the same great design in an eye-catching black and red shell.

Update 2022/23: Along with a graphics update and a cam lock on the power strap, the liner has been upgraded with better ankle articulation and denser CAS material in the heel which offers improved hold for longer. This added 42 grams to the final product which was previously 1374g.

What's the G-Tour ?

The G-Tour is the GVCC's weekly road training series running from April - September.  It is a series of Club Training Events and the events are not eligible for USAC category upgrades.  Events are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays on a variety of courses south of the city of Rochester and north of routes 5 &20. Distances vary from 20 to 45 miles depending on the time of the year and available daylight. Start time is 6pm. You must be a GVCC member or guest member to participate in the G-Tour.

If you are new to competitive cycling check out this page.  We recognize joining a new group and trying a new competitive sport can be intimidating to some.  Keep in mind all of us started as beginners!

The full G-Tour schedule is available Here .

The marshall schedule is Here .

Course Maps can be found Here .

All results will be available Here .

The Approved Rider List is Here . And all racers/riders must be on the approved rider list to participate in the G-Tour.

G-Tour Groups

Riders are separated into groups:

  • A’s (USAC Category 1, 2 & 3 licensed riders)
  • B’s (USAC Category 4 & 5/Novice riders)
  • C's - for 2024 we will offer a C group for new riders.

Guidelines:

  • Riders should ride in the A group if they are USAC 1, 2, or 3.  Ride in the B group if 4 or 5 or otherwise experienced and fit, and the C group if new to racing.
  • Upgrades from B group to A group are allowed either at the time of Cat 4 to Cat 3 USAC upgrade or at the Race Director's discretion with consideration to performance in past G-tour events or otherwise demonstrated competitive cycling experience.  Upgrades from C to B are welcome when the rider and Race Director feel appropriate.
  • In season downgrades from A to B are permitted for those riders who request it. We ask that you are mindful of having a material impact on any pre-existing point battles in the B group.
  • If/when dropped during an event, A group riders can ride with the B group on the back, but may not compete with or otherwise affect the B group.
  • You do not need to hold an active USAC license to participate in the GVCC however it is encouraged.

For more information please email   [email protected] .

The Grand Tour Will Reportedly Be Rebooted, Who Do You Think Should Host?

With Clarkson, Hammond, and May bidding adieu to the show, The Grand Tour is getting ready for a reboot, complete with fresh faces and a revamped format

The Grand Tour Will Reportedly Be Rebooted, Who Do You Think Should Host?

  • Studio Lambert has reportedly won a contract to create an updated version of The Grand Tour.
  • Little is known about the retooled show, but it’s expected to feature new presenters as well as a revised format.

With Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May leaving The Grand Tour , many thought the show was dead. However, a new report suggests that might not be the case.

According to Broadcast , Studio Lambert has been awarded a contract to “develop a fresh version” of the show. Details are limited, but the publication said the studio beat out rival pitches from Shine TV and Orchard Studios.

More: Jeremy Clarkson Says He’s Too “Unfit, Fat And Old” To Keep The Grand Tour Going

The show reportedly hasn’t been formally greenlighted at this point, but Studio Lambert is said to be working on an updated format. The reboot is also expected to have new presenters, although there’s no word on how many or who might get the role.

The latter is obviously the biggest question as the bond between Clarkson, Hammond, and May was almost as interesting as whatever they were doing on screen. It’ll certainly be hard to replicate that as Top Gear found out following their departure.

The Sun quoted an unnamed industry insider as saying, “The Grand Tour is one of Prime Video’s most watched shows and Jeremy, James and Richard have a devoted following, but the guys have made no bones about the fact they’re all advancing in years and they have lots of other projects to pursue.” They added the trio wanted to go out on a high note.

While there are more questions than answers at this point, the show isn’t exactly a stranger to reboots. While it initially had a Top Gear -like feel and roughly a dozen episodes per season, The Grand Tour was eventually retooled to focus on a handful of road trips.

It remains unclear if the latest evolution of the show will stick to this format or try to find its own path. However, with Top Gear taking a “rest,” there might be an opportunity to return to that style format.

With all that being said, what would you like to see out of a Grand Tour reboot and who do you think should host?

Tecnica Announces New 24/25 Zero G Tour Boots

Tecnica announces the 2024-2025 Tecnica Zero G Tour line of ski boots; Blister discussed the details

Tecnica just announced the next generation of their Zero G Tour series of ski boots.

For reference, the Zero G Tour boots slot between Tecnica’s heavier and more resort-friendly Cochise series and their lighter, softer, more uphill-oriented Zero G Peak collection.

Since it was released back in the 2018-2019 season, the Zero G Tour Pro has been a reference boot for us when it comes to touring boots’ downhill-performance-to-weight ratios. We were similarly impressed by the softer, women-specific Zero G Tour Scout W .

Visually, the new 24/25 Zero G Tour boots look pretty similar to the original versions, but Tecnica has made lots of tweaks. The result, according to Tecnica is that the new collection of boots is “lighter, livelier, and more anatomically refined, without sacrificing on fit or performance.”

We should be testing the new boots in the near future, but in the meantime, we’ll cover the details.

For starters, there’s one brand-new model: the Zero G Tour Pro W, which is a women-specific boot with a stated flex of 125. It’ll be available in Mondo sizes 22.5–27.5.

All the Zero G Tour boots feature a tweaked instep design; it’s now reportedly higher and features more of Tecnica’s softer “Quick-Instep” material. The goal there is to make them easier to get in / out of, and more comfortable (particularly for people with higher insteps).

Tecnica announces the 2024-2025 Tecnica Zero G Tour line of ski boots; Blister discussed the details

The updated Zero G Tour boots also feature a new last shape. Specifically, Tecnica says the new shape “addresses fit issues from the previous iteration, including the sixth toe and arch support zones, improving both while maintaining the ability to make additional customizations with C.A.S.”

Tecnica also applied some things they learned during the development of their Zero G Peak models. The new Zero G Tour boots implement the “Power Frame” construction first found in the Peak boots, which uses targeted material reinforcements to improve lateral power transmission and reduce the deformation of the lower shell, apparently resulting in an overall flex pattern that is more progressive, while reportedly decreasing weight.

On that note, the new boots are supposedly a bit lighter. Tecnica’s stated weight for the v1 (18/19–23/24) Zero G Tour Pro is 1340 grams per boot for a size 26.5; their stated weight for the 24/25 Zero G Tour Pro is 1290 grams per boot for a size 26.5. That would make it one of the lighter boots out there with a stated flex rating of 130.

For further uphill-performance improvements, the new Zero G Tour boots feature a 10% larger stated range of motion while in walk mode (60° for the new boots vs. 55° on the old ones). Tecnica says they focused on adding this range of motion in the forward direction, for better mobility on steep slopes.

Tecnica announces the 2024-2025 Tecnica Zero G Tour line of ski boots; Blister discussed the details

Part of the reason they were able to do this was because of the Zero G Tour boots’ new “double-blocking” walk mechanism. It looks pretty similar to the walk mechanism on the Zero G Peak boots and, in addition to being lighter and creating more range of motion in walk mode, it also increases the forward lean to a stated 14° (listed as 16° when paired with the included liner spoiler).

Some other things aren’t changing a whole lot. The Zero G Tour boots are still 4-buckle, 2-piece, overlap-style shells that feature a full-Vibram-rubber ISO 9523 sole and lightweight cable loops instead of traditional metal buckles.

Below, we’ve listed some of the notable stated specs for the new boots. Aside from the new 125-flex Zero G Tour Pro W and 115-flex Zero G Tour Scout W, Tecnica didn’t list stated flex ratings in their press release; I’d assume the other boots roughly follow the same breakdown as the v1 Zero G Tour boots. For reference, the v1 (18/19–23/24) Zero G Tour Pro had a stated flex rating of 130 and the Zero G Tour Scout’s was 120.

The more affordable Zero G Tour (110 flex) and Zero G Tour W (105 flex) will be carried over for 24/25 and don’t feature the changes outlined above; all the other Zero G Tour boots feature those updates.

Improved Instep:

By making the instep higher and adding more Quick-Instep material, the all new Zero G Tour Series boots are not only easier to get in and out of, but are more comfortable in general, with less pressure over the top of the foot.

Anatomical Precision:

Recognizing the unique contours of each foot, the new Zero G Tour Series boots come with a more anatomical shape, providing an impeccable fit right out of the box.

Double-Blocking Walk Mechanism:

Drawing from Tecnica’s experience with the Zero G Peak series, the new Tour Pro and Scout feature a double-blocking walk mechanism. This new mechanism is lighter and offers a wider range of motion, significantly enhancing walkability and forward lean by an additional 1.5 degrees and a 10% increase to 60 degree in range of motion.

The new Zero G Tour Series is a testament to Tecnica’s dedication to excellence and commitment to skiers who are fueled by mountain exploration.

was the last width published?

We haven’t seen a stated last width, but it’s my understanding that the primary fit tweaks were made to the toe box and instep (there was nothing mentioned about width), so I would guess that the last width is still pretty close to the v1 boots’ 99 mm (size 26.5).

We’ll confirm with Tecnica once we receive the boots and post our First Looks.

They responded to my question on IG. same last as the previous model at 99mm. Which means its off the table for me unless I want to try squeeze into the 26.5 instead of the 27.5

Like many boots they are not wide enough to accommodate most skiers I know and blowing them.does compromise shell and largely ineffective anyway.

I have wide, square, flat and short feet and knowing that the Zero G were 99mm I had written them off as not for me. When I went to my bootfitter and tried on different boots and the Zero G felt surprisingly good. I now ski in 25.5 Zero G Scouts (I’m usually size 8 1/2 shoes) and I’m really very confortable in them. It was really not necessary to do any mechanical stretching, “blowing them”, or anything just normal thermofitting. The only thing that I really don’t like about the Zero G is that they are very hard to put on and take off, so I’m happy to see that’s being addressed. Other boots I own are the Scarpa Maestrale and the FT ascendant both with a stated last of 102mm. I can honestly say that the Zero G are more comfortable.

Good looking boots. Maybe I’m happier about waiting to buy new touring boots with that instep height increase…

Looks great. I’ll probably upgrade. With all the nice thoughtful improvements, it’s a crying shame they didn’t go for the legit tech fittings. For those worried about the width: I had my yellow vintage ones punched a little for 6th toe and it worked out fine.

Weird they would create a women’s 125. Five points on the flex index seems a bit nominal of a difference to make another boot. Especially in a boot genre that typically leans to the softer side. Most hard charging women I know just go for the current 130. Nice to hear they added room in the areas that needed it. Still think they are missing the segment of the market that wants a 98mm last though. One finger fit touring is the way to go!

We’re definitely curious to try the Zero G Tour Pro W to find out just how similar / different it is from the regular Zero G Tour Pro; they reportedly share the same cuff and shell materials, so we suspect the performance will be quite similar. We should begin testing them within a few weeks.

Not many narrow, 98mm last touring boot are there? Atomic had one of the less wide models, the Backland and added a new boot, the Backland XTD. And guess what? It’s wider. So, although I am in the narrow boot market, I guess the brands just don’t see the demand.

90% weight reduction is pretty decent!

To be honest, as a low volume foot human, this is the only strong touring boot that works for me across the board and I’m sad to hear they are increasing the instep height. When can we say that the high instep population has enough options? Guess I need to stock up on the 23 model.

Zipfit liners can really help those of us who need a little lower volume boot.

We who want a tight fit but have a high instep have waited for this… The shell cutting into the foot getting in and out is not comfy. But when it was on it was perfect for me so hope the overall height is not increased…

Quattro is lower volume and more powerful.

Yup – but thats different weight category (i.e. Cochise alternative, not Zero G). Also having Gripwalk sole – walking comfort is not comparable to the AT sole.

Hope Tecnica fixed the cuff rivets – my Zero G Tour Pro’s have crazy side to side slop. I’ve got new rivets but can’t find a press near me. And agree on the concerns over the increase in instep volume – I’ve already got 1/8-3/16″ bontex shims under my liner. BTW – donning/removing the boot so much easier with a tour wrap than a tongue liner.

And I recently bought the “old” version

And to those complaining about the presumably 99mm last: I have a 105mm last and my Bootfitter made them 106mm wide @ 26.5…

I agree the “recent” zgtp is pretty easy to blow out. My only gripe is the instep-cuff transition which is difficult to change. The new boot promises more room and more soft plastic there. With my favorite Intuition pro tour liners the forward lean isn’t all that upright, so increased lean, didn’t ask for it but hey. Easily the best boot i have been in (and I abuse it inbounds and tour), and looking forward to the new one.

Re: Rivets on the ZGTPs. Mine are hammered as well. A friend successfully replaced his with threaded Head Raptor canting rivets…

Did he drill them out first? pics?

I do find it disappointing that they did not upgrade the buckles: -use bolts instead of rivets to attach them -use a wire bail in the ladder to hold the buckles in place on any notch, not just on the last notch -use the lever style that has the slider built in

When you add 2 and 3, it means you can leave buckles where you want them, and just flip the lever of the buckle open and closed to go from walk to ski mode. Especially since this is a 4 buckle boot, there are so many buckles to mess with at transition.

2024 women's NCAA Tournament Final Four dates, game times, TV, location, teams and more

The stars will be out on Friday night in the women's Final Four.

Iowa's Caitlin Clark , South Carolina's Kamilla Cardoso, UConn's Paige Bueckers and NC State's Aziaha James will all take the court in Cleveland with a trip to the national championship game on the line, and each has their own calling card as they enter the championship rounds.

Clark's story is well-documented at this point , but endlessly impressive nonetheless: She put together a Her-culean effort in Iowa's win over LSU in the Elite Eight, with a 41-point game (and a bit of revenge). Cardoso has been a force in the paint for the Gamecocks, and she'll look to take her game to the next level at the conclusion of the women's tournament.

J ames has exploded in the tournament , capping off brilliant performance after brilliant performance with a 7-for-9 night from 3-point land in the Wolfpack's win over Texas in the Elite Eight. Last, and certainly not least, Bueckers wants to cap off this UConn run with that elusive championship – but she plans to run it back with the Huskies next season should things go south between now and then.

FOLLOW THE MADNESS:   NCAA basketball bracket, scores, schedules, teams and more.

However you cut it, the women's Final Four will be filled with excitement, drama and plenty of buckets. Here's what to know about the 2024 women's Final Four:

When is the women's Final Four?

  • Date: Friday, April 5
  • Start time: 7 p.m. ET (South Carolina vs. NC State); 9:30 p.m. ET (UConn vs. Iowa)

The women's Final Four is set for tip-off on Friday, April 5. The first game begins at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT), with the second matchup following at 9:30 p.m. ET, or after the conclusion of the first game.

What TV channel is the women's Final Four on?

ESPN will broadcast both games of the 2024 women's Final Four, with the doubleheader beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Friday night.

Where is the women's Final Four?

  • Location: Cleveland, Ohio
  • Venue: Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse

The semifinal games of the 2024 women's NCAA Tournament will take place at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The arena is home of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers and seats over 19,000 fans.

Women's Final Four bracket

Here's how the women's Final Four bracket shapes up entering the final weekend of the tourney:

  • (1) South Carolina vs. (3) North Carolina State
  • (1) Iowa vs. (3) UConn

Who is in the women's Final Four?

In one matchup, the South Carolina Gamecocks take on the North Carolina State Wolfpack in a battle of Carolina supremacy. South Carolina, led by 6-foot-7 senior Kamilla Cardoso, looks to keep its undefeated season rolling against the Wolfpack. Aziaha James has been on a tear in the tournament, last exploding for seven 3-pointers in NC State's win over the Longhorns.

In the other showdown, Caitlin Clark looks to keep her historic 2023-24 season alive when she and the Hawkeyes face off against Paige Bueckers and UConn in the semifinal. Clark put up a masterful performance in their regional final vs. LSU, scoring 41 points in 40 minutes and exacting revenge against the Tigers.

Middle of the Pacific and the centre of excitement

Hawaii might be a part of the USA, but the scenery, vibe, history, and culture on these stunning islands make the 50th state seem like a distant cousin a couple times removed. Sail into the setting sun along Waikiki Beach, walk on an active volcano, join a traditional luau in Maui, and enjoy beach time in, well, all over. There’s no wonder Hawaii is the backdrop for paradise in the movies – the islands don’t have to act the part of “jaw-dropping oasis”, they’re naturals.
