Join us for a campus tour!

By Crissy Campbell on October 12, 2023

Join us for a campus tour!

Are you wondering what life at UBC  is like? Are you curious about your new classes, or how to build your community? Maybe you’d just like to see if UBC feels like the right place for you?

If so, come and join us for a campus tour ! We have two tour options for both UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver – in-person campus tours and live virtual campus tours.

In-person campus tours

Free walking tours are offered throughout the week at both our Okanagan and Vancouver campuses. Each tour lasts 90 minutes on our Okanagan campus and two hours on our Vancouver campus and is led by a friendly student ambassador, current UBC students who are excited to share their knowledge and show you around campus. After your tour, you’ll have the chance to connect with an advisor and ask any questions you have about attending UBC.

Live virtual campus tours

You’ll be in excellent hands as you join our friendly student ambassadors, who provide an in-depth look at UBC. Live virtual tours of the Okanagan campus last for 75 minutes, and the Vancouver campus tours run for 90 minutes. Both finish with a student Q&A panel where you can ask your questions. Our ambassadors are current students who are excited to share their knowledge and experiences with you, and help you discover what it’s like to be a UBC student! All of our live virtual campus tours are offered on Zoom.

Tour schedules

Tours are scheduled at both UBC Okanagan and UBC Vancouver on various days throughout the week. Take a look at our campus tours page to see the most up-to-date schedule.

Additional tours for Indigenous students

We offer Indigenous-specific campus tours for prospective Indigenous students (members of First Nations, Métis, and/or Inuit peoples in Canada) at both of our Okanagan and Vancouver campuses. Tours are led by our friendly and knowledgeable Indigenous student ambassadors who will guide you around campus and highlight Indigenous-specific spaces, services, and resources available to you. After the tour, an Indigenous student advisor will be available to answer your questions. We welcome individual requests and groups of all sizes.

Request an Indigenous campus tour of UBC by emailing [email protected] .

How to register

To view all upcoming campus tours and to register, visit our Tours and events page and select the campus tours tab.

Getting Around UBC

  • Travel Tips
  • UBC Attractions Map
  • UBC Like a Local

Once you arrive at the UBC Vancouver campus, you have several options for how to get around — but be advised: driving isn’t one of them. It’s easy to walk or bike, and for longer distances there are convenient and accessible shuttle buses to get you where you need to go.

Get Around UBC

Walking at UBC

UBC is a very walkable campus — flat, scenic and pedestrian-friendly — with plenty of clear signage to help you find your way around. Look for the blue-and-white street signs to orient yourself. Refer to the map pylons around campus to plan your most efficient route.

Keep in mind that the campus is huge, so leave time to get around. For example, the scenic stroll along Main Mall through central campus will take the average walker about 15 minutes (1.2 kilometers) to travel each way.

Most attractions and amenities on campus are within a 15-minute walk of the bus exchange and of each other. The attractions on the far south end of campus, such as the UBC Botanical Garden, will take more time to walk to from central campus; consider catching the campus shuttle to get there and elsewhere on south campus.

Cycling at UBC

It’s easy to get around campus by bicycle, but remember to share the pavement with pedestrians. Look for bike-friendly parking in front of most buildings — and be sure to lock up!

No bike? No problem: download the  HOPR app and take advantage of this bike share service on campus.

On-Campus Shuttle

Caught in the rain? Too tired to walk or bike? When you need to get from one end of campus to the other in comfort, count on the convenient, accessible  Translink mini-bus to shuttle you between neighbourhoods and attractions. Look for the route 68 bus.

UBC Accessibility Shuttle

If you have a temporary or permanent condition that limits your mobility, the Accessibility Shuttle can help you get around areas of campus that can only be reached on foot. The shuttle is a free, shared-ride service; you can book up to three trips a day. Each building in the service area is within 100 meters of a shuttle stop.

The shuttle is available on weekdays only, and you must book in advance. Call 604 822 9929.

Additional information on accessible parking and entrances can be found here.

UBC’s Welcome Centre’s knowledgeable staff can answer your trip-related questions, provide maps and directions, offer helpful tips and free guided tours, and let you know what events are happening during your visit to UBC.

Taylor Swift adds another talent to her bulging CV as Eras Tour nears end

Taylor Swift is set to wrap her blockbuster Eras Tour in December, and she appears to have answered questions about what she could possibly achieve next.

After finishing off the epic European leg of her Eras tour, you’d think Taylor Swift would be putting her feet up.

But behind the scenes the US superstar is already busy looking ahead to her next projects, The Sun reports.

One of those could finally be adding ‘author’ to her bulging CV and achievements, after she trademarked the name and rights to her debut novel.

The tome, titled A Girl Called Girl , was written by Swift when she was a teenager and is about a mother who wanted a son instead of a daughter.

While Swift was just 14 when she wrote the story, it has never seen the light of day and the draft was previously believed to be in the care of her parents.

It’s not the first time the star has trademarked the book. In 2015, she secured the rights to the name for the first time.

But after sitting on the project for almost a decade, it seems her fans could now be one step closer to getting their hands on it.

The new trademark covers merchandise for the book, as well as audio versions, which makes it seem like Swift is finally gearing up to release it to the world.

She previously revealed she started writing the tale before her music career really took off, explaining while on tour in 2012, “All my friends were back in Pennsylvania, so I had nothing to do.

“I had this epiphany... I’m going to be a novelist and I’m going to write novels. That’s going to be my career path.”

Of course, Swift’s music career ended up going stellar, with the singer/songwriter becoming arguably becoming the biggest pop star of this generation, with Forbes naming her a billionaire as of October last year.

She has a lot of other projects in the pipeline, including the re-recorded version of 2017 album Reputation, which her fans are, quite honestly, getting hysterical about now.

Adding this book into the mix would lead to screams that are off the scale.

Kasugai Gardens

1435 Water St, Kelowna, Canada

Spread across just over 0.7 acres (0.29 hectares), Kasugai Gardens is a Japanese garden built in 1987 in honor of the alliance between Kelowna and its Japanese sister city, Kasugai. Features include waterfalls, a koi pond, and a Japanese-style topiary.

The gardens—which operate seasonally from spring until early autumn—are a great place to take a relaxing stroll. They have meandering pathways that weave through beautiful natural and human-made features. Some walking tours of Kelowna include a stop at the gardens, and they’re a great place to rest your legs after a wine-tasting tour in the region.

Kasugai Gardens is a must-visit for photographers and fans of garden design.

The garden is wheelchair-accessible and features flat, paved walkways.

Admission to Kasugai Gardens is free.

Wheelchair-friendly public restrooms are located at the Queensway Exchange, just south of the garden.

The gardens are in an enclosure across from the Kelowna City Hall, right next to the Okanagan Heritage Museum, in an area with plenty of parking. Several busses—including lines 5, 6, and 18—stop south of the Gardens at the Queensway Exchange, an 8-minute walk away.

Kasugai Gardens is open seasonally, from early March until the middle of October. It's open daily, with extended hours between Victoria Day Weekend (in May) and Labour Day Weekend (in September). Come later in the day for warmer weather, or opt for a summertime evening visit for an enjoyable evening stroll.

Kelowna is a great jumping-off point for visiting the Okanagan Valley, one of British Columbia's top wine-producing regions. Many of the wines made here are sweet whites, and the region is known for its "ice wine," made from grapes that freeze on the vine during the winter. Many wineries are within a short drive of Kelowna, making it easy to use the city as a base for one-day wine-tasting excursions.
