Explore what really matters to you and use your passion to change the world—that's what Girl Scout Journeys are all about.
Girl Scout Journeys are multi-session experiences in which girls dig deeper into their interests and use the skills they gain along the way to make a difference in their community. While badges show the world you’ve learned a new skill, Journey awards say, “I found a way to make a difference.”
During a Journey, Girl Scouts do hands-on activities, connect with experts, and take the lead on a Take Action project with their community. And once a Junior, Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador completes their Journey, they’re ready to drive lasting change in their communities by going for their Bronze, Silver, or Gold Award.
Journey requirements can be found in the Award and Badge Explorer. . Volunteers and Girl Scout caregivers can also find the requirements in the Volunteer Toolkit .
Find everything you need to kick-start your adventure with your grade level's Journey.
How Take Action Projects Differ from Community Service Projects
Journeys encourage Girl Scouts of all ages to think critically, boost their problem-solving skills, and make an impact. They’ll learn something new and grow their leadership skills.
Take Action projects are at the heart of all Journeys, but they’re different from the community service projects that Girl Scouts may have done—and you’ll want to understand those differences before planning a Take Action project.

Girl Scout Journey in a Day or Weekend Resources for Leaders of Daisies to Seniors
Here is an updated list of Girl Scout Journey in a Day or Weekend Resources for leaders of Daisies through Seniors that will help them get through the program more easily.
Updated April 2023
If you have read this blog for any length of time, then you know that I have never been a fan of the Girl Scout Journeys program. From the time I first looked at the Daisy Journey book when my troop started in kindergarten, my experienced teacher self thought, “This is age inappropriate!”.
For Daisy leaders, I also feel that this is something they needn’t do the first year. The foundation for Girl Scouts are the petals, and the first year for both leaders and girls needs to be on this. Journeys are overly complicated and since their inception in 2008, leaders still dislike doing them as they are too much like school work.
My most commented on blog post in the past 12.5 years has been about the Journeys program ( you can read it here ). I followed it up with a post about Councils and leaders having a Journey in a Day program . The bottom line for me is if it this program is so important, why can it be done in a day? What have you learned in a day that was completely absorbed? It is hard for me to wrap my teacher brain around it. I spend weeks on a concept and building a skill. How can a four or six hour program do that?
Leaders who need to do a Journey but dislike the program have flocked to this concept. Since it is so popular, I have decided to place all of the Girl Scout Journey in a Day resources for you in one place. Then you can pick and choose what you want to do!
Of course, before you make any plans on your own, check your Council’s website to see what they are offering for a Journey in a Day. When searching for resources for you, the events often came up at the top of the list.
Please note: As of this writing, there were no Journey in a Day resources for Girl Scout Ambassadors.

Inappropriate Media Images
Just what are they trying to sell, another big issue girls have in relation to the media is overtly sexual advertisements. one look at online and print ads for teencentric brands like abercrombie and hollister and it can make a parent cringe. the images are inappropriate and have young adults in provocative poses to sell overpriced jeans and tee shirts. by advertising their products in this manner, it makes it appear acceptable to girls this age to act this way..

About this Virtual Troop
Welcome Girl Scouts! This Virtual Troop offers three online journeys or courses, one for Cadettes, one for Seniors and one for Ambassadors. You can do them at your own pace, with or without other girls in your troop. You may do the journey for fun but if you are doing it as a prerequisite to the Silver or Gold Award then you must earn the award that is part of the journey. You must Register in order to get approval to participate. Once you get approval, you’ll Login and then go through each part of the journey by clicking on the title of each post and submitting a comment to fulfill the assignment.
All 3 journeys require the book. I’ve shared links so that you can order one. They might also be available through your local library, local council or service unit. You can buy one book and pass it around. Through the Volunteer Tool Kit, people can create a “Year Plan,” and add (some, maybe not all) Journeys to the year plan. Girls have access through their parent’s account to view and download the lesson plans. Journey Books: Girls can work independently if they have a physical journey book or if you add it to the Year Plan, they will have the virtual access (to at least some of the Journeys). You might try that if you’re excited about starting right away.
About your virtual leader. I’m a long time Girl Scout leader and volunteer with the San Diego Council but this is not a council run website. I made another virtual troop website when my troop girls were sophomores in high school and two of them wanted to work on an additional journey before they did their gold award projects. I saw the need for this back then. They’re all out of college and working but I’ve kept the site going. I piggyback the site on our service unit website so there is no additional cost to have the site so there is no charge to use it. I’ve had people from all over the country use it since it’s been online! If you, your troop leader or your troop parents have questions they are welcome to contact me: Debbie Lechner, [email protected], your virtual leader.

Between all three of my age levels (Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassador girls) they did their journeys for each level, and completed them all in one day.
