Head In The Clouds will bring its 2-Day festival to the historic Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York on May 11th and 12th.

In 2023, 88rising expanded its marquee Head In The Clouds Music & Arts Festival to New York in partnership with The Bowery Presents. Returning to where the company was founded almost 8 years ago, Head In The Clouds will bring its 2-Day festival to the historic Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York on May 11th and 12th, 2024. Notably, in what will be one of the biggest AAPI Heritage celebrations nationwide, Head In The Clouds New York will take place during Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month (observed in the United States in May).

Best Concert I’ve Seen Yet, The artists interact with the crowd, everyone is so hyped & energetic & it’s overall so much fun. I purchased the meet & Greet which only lasted like 30 seconds, was hoping to at least have a few minutes. We were told that we’d be let in at 3:30 & didn’t go in till around 4:15 & we stood in line until 5:20 which was pretty inconvenient since all general admission came in at 5:30. It wasn’t really early access because everything wasn’t set up until the doors opened. Still enjoyed seeing some of my favorite artists perform though. I hope this helps give some insight

IT SUCKS. Everything went in chaos when higher brothers showed up. It's totally concert managers fault because ITS A HORRIBLE IDEA to split the crowd in middle, letting higher bros show up. It messed up the order of the crowd, and people started to push each other. I GOT HURT!!! People around me fell. I have to leave earlier. All the pushes, causing by splitting the crowd, ruined my night. Higher bros are fine. Brian is great. 88RISING SUCKS. MANAGE A BETTER SHOW!

As music and media company 88rising gets set for another showcase at Coachella this weekend, founder Sean Miyashiro has only one regret: He should have told festival founder Paul Tollett to make the company’s name bigger on the lineup poster.

“The 88rising set is where the magic of collaboration happens!” ATARASHII GAKKO! says via email, adding that it intends to debut new tracks from its forthcoming album during the performance. “The collaborations with YOASOBI and Awich are something special that can only happen on the 88 stage. We cannot wait to show everyone the vibrant AG! energy. We hope it will be an unforgettable experience for everyone in the crowd!”

While the showcase will represent talent from several Asian countries including Japan, China and Korea, it will also feature several surprise acts from additional countries as the music company continues to act as a “bridge between East and West, West and East,” explains Miyashiro.

“When I ask some of these artist [to come perform],” he adds, “they cry. Even their managers cry.”

For Miyashiro, developing artists and helping them break through is a major part of the company’s mission. “That is what we started the company for,” he says, “and a lot of that is coming true.”

While the 88rising set during Coachella’s first weekend is expected to be filled with special guests, the second weekend lineup will also have an element of surprise — even for Miyashiro. With some artists having to fly back home, he continues, “frankly speaking, we’re still figuring out what we’re trying to do,” he says with a laugh. “But we’re figuring it out pretty quickly.”

With the latest 88rising set at Coachella just days away, Miyashiro says he’s already looking ahead to 2025, with the company already working on developing a stage musical. “This [year] is going to be the last 88rising does something like a showcase. Next time it is going to be like a movie,” says Miyashiro. “In 2025, we’re going to need the main stage.”

88rising’s Head In The Clouds Festival Returns To Los Angeles With DPR Live, DPR Ian, And Jackson Wang

88rising’s Head In The Clouds Festival is returning to Los Angeles for its 5th event on August 5 and 6, once again taking over Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena with a lineup featuring DPR Live, DPR Ian, Jackson Wang , NIKI, Rich Brian, and Rina Sawayama. A number of regulars for the Asian-focused festival return as well, including Keith Ape, Warren Hue, Milli , and more. There’s even a special guest: DJ/producer Zedd, fresh off his appearance in The Muppets Mayhem .

Tickets for this year’s event go on sale next Tuesday, May 30, with a presale on Thursday, May 25 at 10 am. You can preregister for the presale now at the festival’s website . The festival is also bringing back 626 Night Market as its official food partner, ensuring that there will be just as many awesome eats as there are entertaining musical acts.

Some of the biggest Asian acts in the world will descend upon Southern California this August as label 88rising ‘s Head in the Clouds Music & Arts Festival returns for a second year.

Indonesian songwriter and producer NIKI, Hong Kong native Jackson Wang and his “Magic Man Experience,” and Indonesian rapper Rich Brian are among the headliners for the 2022 edition of Head in the Clouds, which takes place in Pasadena, California August 20 and 21 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl. The trio’s appearance on the bill comes after all three artists performed during 88rising’s groundbreaking Coachella set, which featured the surprise reunion of K-pop girl group 2NE1.

While CL and the 2NE1 girls aren’t part of Head in the Clouds, K-pop is well-represented on the bill, with headlining sets from K-pop sirens BIBI and Chung Ha , as well as hip-hop legend Jay Park.

This year’s festival will also feature performances from Oakland-native mxmtoon, who rose to fame after posting her original songs on YouTube , former DAY6 member eaJ, and the debut of Audrey Nuna and Deb Never’s as-yet-unnamed joint project. Frequent 88rising collaborator (and label signee) Joji will play a DJ set under the name “Yebi Labs.” Southern California food festival 626 Night Market will curate the festival’s food and beverage offerings. Also taking place during the festival are three experiences — Magic Man and the Thunder Theatre, Joji’s Pop Up Shop and Enjoy YEAR OF — the details of which are expected to be announced closer to the event date.

88rising launched Head in the Clouds in 2018 as the first Asian-centric music festival in the U.S. While it was lovingly referred to as “ Asian Coachella ” for years, the festival has now became a powerhouse in its own right, with more than 30,000 people attending last year’s event. This year’s edition of Head in the Clouds sees 88rising teaming up with Goldenvoice, the Los Angeles-based company behind concert events like Coachella and Stagecoach.

88rising recently curated the soundtrack for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings , which featured tracks from NIKI, Rich Brian and many of the other artists who will appear at Head in the Clouds.

Tickets to the 2022 Head in the Clouds Music Festival go on sale Thursday as part of a presale, with a public on sale this Friday. Ticket prices start at $249 for general admission, with VIP passes running you $405. The 2023 inaugural Head in the Clouds New York Music & Arts Festival marked a homecoming of sorts for 88rising, which was founded in New York City back in 2015. Across the festival's two stages on Saturday, DUMBFOUNDEAD, MILLI, and Beabadoobee served up mesmerizing set after set.

With the energy and community spirit amplified, headliners Rich Brian and ITZY closed out the evening in epic fashion. During the second day, P-Lo and Knock2 maintained this momentum while seven-piece K-pop group XG cemented their first-ever festival performance in the US, before NIKI's explosive finale.

The music-filled weekend doubled as the perfect celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and the 100th anniversary of Forest Hills Stadium. Additionally, curated with an emphasis on small and family-owned business, twelve vendors set up shop at Forest Hills to highlight the city's rich food culture and the diverse cuisines of the Asian diaspora.

After taking the headlines at Coachella with a surprise 2NE1 reunion and an on-stage mango sticky rice moment , 88rising has now announced the full lineup for its 2022 Head In The Clouds Music & Arts Festival.

Scheduled for August 20 and 21 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, the festival will feature headliners such as Jackson Wang , NIKI , Rich Brian , BIBI , Jay Park and CHUNG HA . Additionally, the event will highlight artists like mxmtoon , while AUDREY NUNA and Deb Never are set to reveal a joint project. Other standout names include eaJ , ATARASHII GAKKO! and MILLI , as well as South Korean hip hop legends Tiger JK and Yoonmirae . In addition to music, attendees will be able to enjoy activations such as Joji ‘s pop-up store and food from 626 Night Market .
