Theater | denver’s latest broadway shows: “back to the future,” “kimberly akimbo” lead dcpa’s 2024-25 schedule, single tickets are on sale at a later date, with more shows to be added.

“If you’re thinking about broad themes, it’s a very high-energy season with a sense of joy and humor,” said John Ekeberg , executive director of Broadway at Denver Center for the Performing Arts. “The ultimate example of that is a show like ‘& Juliet,’, with confetti cannons and that sort of high energy production, and ‘Some Like It Hot,’ which just has amazing dancing and choreography.”

The balanced season, as Ekeberg called it, has been cobbled together through his visits to see new works in London and New York, but also the success of returning shows such as “Hamilton,” “Book of Mormon” and “Mamma Mia!” Like last season’s movie adaptations and touring veterans, they bring in the crowds while also supporting more adventurous works.

Ekeberg also worked with the producers of “Kimberly Akimbo,” to bring the show to Denver for its national tour launch. The city in the past has hosted pre-Broadway runs and tour launches from Disney titles including “The Lion King” and “Frozen.”

“When we started conversations about it we wanted to acknowledge that everybody has different sensibilities and tastes, and what speaks to them is different than what speaks to me,” he said. “But if someone takes a look at the season, they’ll find things that stand out to them.”

Single tickets for the 2024-25 season shows will not go on sale until a later date, DCPA officials said Monday, but are on sale now to subscribers at denvercenter.org .

Kaytranada jams onstage.

Prior to the tour announcement, Kaytranada already had a busy summer and fall lined up.

At the time of publication, the 30-year-old had five (!) festival dates scheduled at venues all over the U.S.

Now, post-announcement, he’ll have even less free time these next few months.

On July 16, Kaytranada announced he will perform at venues all over the world from July through October as part of his forthcoming ‘Timeless Tour,’ named after his sonically adventurous, recently-released double album.

Midway through the run, he’ll make a stop at Queens’ Forest Hills Stadium on Friday, Oct. 4.

He won’t be going it alone, either. On select dates, the “You’re The One” mixmaster will be joined by Channel Tres, Amaarae, Sam Gellaitry, Kitty Cash and Lou Phelps.

Fans can purchase tickets for all upcoming ‘Timeless Tour’ shows on sites like Vivid Seats ; the official on-sale is Friday, July 19.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Kaytranada tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Kaytranada 2024 festival appearances

More than a quarter of Katranada’s North American gigs will be at festivals this year.

If you want to see a shorter set of his — along with a few other major artists — here are all the details about each of his 2024 festival appearances.

Kaytranada new music

On June 7, Kaytranada delivered his third solo studio album “Timeless” to the world.

Made up of two discs and 21 tracks, the record is a bouncy, sample-heavy funk party that never drags despite its 63 minute runtime.

Featuring guest verses from Childish Gambino, Don Toliver, Anderson .Paak, Thundercat, PinkPantheress, Mariah The Scientist and more, “Timeless” marries inventive, good time music with some of the most gifted vocalists alive.

Rather than pick favorites — if we could, we’d recommend all 21 unique, lively bops — we suggest listening to “Timeless” here .

Kaytranada special guests

Depending on the show you attend, you may see an exciting opening act or two.

To make sure you go in knowing what to expect, here’s each artist’s most streamed song on Spotify:

Channel Tres: “I’ve Been In Love”

Amaarae: “SAD GURLZ LUV MONEY”

Sam Gellaitry: “Picture In My Mind”

Kitty Cash: “Ain’t No Way”

Lou Phelps: “Come Inside”

ABOUT THE SHOWS (In Date Order)

Sep 13 – Oct 6, 2024 Wolf Theatre By William Shakespeare Directed by Chris Coleman

Arguably one of the greatest plays of all time, Hamlet is a psychological revenge thriller, political epic, and family saga that’s both grand and deeply human. Packed with unforgettable characters and famous lines, Artistic Director Chris Coleman will helm the DCPA’s iconic season opener.

When Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, returns home after his father’s death, he finds his mother remarried to his uncle and his father’s spine-chilling apparition roaming the palace grounds. Commanded by his father’s ghost to avenge his brutal murder, Hamlet’s burden to reclaim the reins of the kingdom becomes a perilous journey through the psyche. Bound by duty yet tormented by the gravity of his mission, every scheme and equivocation will test his resolve, disrupt his relationship with the fair Ophelia, and pose the tragic dilemma of whether “to be, or not to be.”

Join us for one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays as you’ve never seen it before!

An elephant named Gerald and a pig named Piggie are best, best, “bestus” friends, but Gerald worries that something could go wrong. Piggie is not worried at all. She’s even happier and more excited than usual. That’s because she and Gerald are invited to a party hosted by the Squirrelles, three singing squirrels who love to have a good time. And so begins a day when anything is possible.

WELCOME TO MUSICAL COMEDY HEAVEN!

Funny Girl is “the hilarious, brilliant and stunningly gorgeous production that has made the almost 60-year wait for its return worth every second.” – Click on Detroit

Featuring one of the most iconic scores of all time by Jule Styne and Bob Merrill, an updated book from Harvey Fierstein based on the original classic by Isobel Lennart, tap choreography by Ayodele Casel, choreography by Ellenore Scott, and direction from Michael Mayer, this love letter to the theatre has the whole shebang. The sensational Broadway revival dazzles with celebrated classic songs, including “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” “I’m the Greatest Star,” and “People.” This bittersweet comedy is the story of the indomitable Fanny Brice, a girl from the Lower East Side who dreamed of a life on the stage. Everyone told her she’d never be a star, but then something funny happened — she became one of the most beloved performers in history, shining brighter than the brightest lights of Broadway.
