JOHN 5 RELEASES BRAND-NEW SONG “A HOLLYWOOD STORY” NEW TOUR DATES COMING THIS FALL

  • June 11, 2024

Guitar virtuoso John 5 is giving fans a look into his life and career with a brand-new song called A Hollywood Story . The track, and accompanying video, details John 5’s incredible journey, from picking up his first guitar at the age of 7 to recording acclaimed solo material and touring the world with the likes of Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Rob Halford and – currently – Mötley Crüe.

Watch the video below and stream the song, here.

Says John 5 of the song, “ A Hollywood Story is a look back on my career and how lucky I am to have had the experiences that I’ve had. When you’re a little kid, in your room, dreaming of your future, I never could’ve dreamt of what has happened to me in real life. I’m so appreciative and so happy. So go after your dreams whatever they may be.”

The new track comes after the release of the instrumental masterpiece The Ghost last October as well as a series of sold-out tour dates in 2023. John 5 will hit the road again this fall on the Strung Out Tour , with special guest Turning Jane , beginning September 1st in Boston, MA and ending October 24th in Novato, CA, with a number of Canadian dates. These new solo appearances will be in addition to John 5’s confirmed dates with Mötley Crüe including Summerfest , Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals. Eddie's Shows

London Riverside Studios

Hamlet - London

Hamlet - Wed 12th June

Hamlet marks Eddie’s second solo show following last year’s sold-out run of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations, which played to rave reviews at Greenwich House and in London’s West End.

London’s Telegraph called the show “Absorbing and intimate. An impressive sweeping performance.”

NBC-TV'S Today Show said “To be or not to be 23 different characters, that is the question. And Eddie Izzard’s Hamlet is the answer.”

Theatermania.com said Izzard “makes each verse crackle.”

New York Stage Review said, “Oh what a noble prince (plus everyone else) is Eddie Izzard.”

Hamlet is adapted by Mark Izzard and directed by Selina Cadell, with whom Eddie also collaborated on Great Expectations. It is produced by WestBeth Entertainment, Mick Perrin Worldwide, and John Gore. The design team is Tom Piper (set), Tyler Elich (lighting), Tom Piper and Libby DaCosta (costume stylists), and Didi Hopkins (Movement Director).

Over the past few months, many of the biggest names in the game —  Jerry Seinfeld , Bill Burr , Kevin Hart , Sebastian Maniscalco and Ali Wong — have announced major nationwide tours that will send them far and wide all over North America.

They’re not the only acts hitting the road, though.

Want to see who’s out and about these next few months?

You’re in the right place, chuckleheads.

Below, you’ll find the 107 biggest comedians on tour separated by sub-genres like household name headliners, ‘SNL’ cast members, ‘Daily Show’ alumni, up-and-comers and many more for your scrolling pleasure.

John Early Announces Tour, 'Now More Than Ever' Album With Bonus Songs

You’ll soon be able to listen to John Early ‘s covers of Britney Spears’ “Overprotected” and Neil Young’s “After the Gold Rush” on vinyl.

On Sept. 13, the alt-comedy icon will release an album for his 2023 HBO comedy special “Now More Than Ever,” featuring bits on Apple’s “ask app not to track” button, the emptiness of millennial culture and anal sex — as well as cover songs performed with his fictional band the Lemon Squares. Available on digital, vinyl and CD, it will also feature an exclusive, album-only set from Early’s denim-loving alter-ego, Vicky With a “V.”

Early is also launching a North American fall tour kicking off Sept. 9 in San Diego. It will end Oct. 21 in Durham, N.C., and pass through Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, New York and other American cities (plus Toronto). Early will be flanked by the whole band in L.A. and New York, and bandleader Hesslein on the rest of the dates.

“I’ve been performing comedy and music with my long suffering band the Lemon Squares for over 10 years now, and I always assumed that there was no way to capture the magic of our live shows,” Early said in a statement. “But listening to this album takes me right back to that sweaty night in downtown Brooklyn, which felt something like being a crazed preacher at a tent revival. I’m so excited for people to hear the Vicky With a ‘V’ set that we had to cut from the HBO special for time. And I am so, so pumped about our new cover songs which I think are genuinely good and stanky. I would also like to put it on permanent record that I did the Madonna rap in one take.”

See BRUCE DICKINSON's Entire London Concert During 2024 'The Mandrake Project' U.K. Tour

IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson played the final show of his 2024 U.K. solo tour Friday night (May 24) in London.

The gig at O2 Forum Kentish Town was the last of a six-date U.K. run, which also made stops in Wolverhampton, Glasgow, Manchester, Swansea and Nottingham.

As was the case on his recently completed Latin American tour, Dickinson 's 16-song set opened with "Accident Of Birth" and closed with "The Tower" . There was also the inclusion of a couple of tracks from Bruce 's new solo album "The Mandrake Project" , among them the latest single "Rain On The Graves" .

Fan-filmed video of the entire London concert can be seen below (courtesy of Room Of Mirrors ).

Featured songs in the video:

After playing two warm-up shows at the Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, California, Dickinson officially kicked off his first solo tour in more than 20 years on April 15 at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California.

Joining the IRON MAIDEN singer on the trek is his current backing band, featuring Dave Moreno (drums), Mistheria (keyboards) and Tanya O'Callaghan (bass),alongside the group's latest additions, Swedish guitarist, songwriter and multi-platinum-credited producer Philip Näslund and Swiss session and touring guitarist Chris Declercq (who played on Dickinson 's "Rain On The Graves" single). Bruce 's longtime guitarist and collaborator Roy "Z" Ramirez is not part of the touring lineup.

Prior to the April 12 Whisky A Go Go show, Bruce last performed with his solo band on in August 2002 at the legendary Wacken Open Air festival in Germany.

During an appearance on the April 16 episode of SiriusXM 's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" , Bruce was asked if there are plans for him to stage a full U.S. tour in support of his recently released solo album "The Mandrake Project" . He responded: "I brought the [booking] agents and the promoters, and everybody came down and saw the Whisky show [in West Hollywood, California over the weekend], and now they know what they've got to deal with in terms of doing a U.S. tour. So, we're looking at it, we're planning it.

"I absolutely wanna do a full U.S. tour with 'The Mandrake Project' ," he added. "I obviously can't do one for the rest of this year [due to commitments in other parts of the world and MAIDEN 's upcoming touring activities], but there's '25 and there's numerous opportunities that will crop up. So the answer to that is yes, of course, we wanna come and do the U.S."

Roy played guitar on Dickinson 's 1994 album "Balls To Picasso" and went on to produce, co-write and perform multiple instruments on Bruce 's subsequent three solo albums, "Accident At Birth" (1997), "The Chemical Wedding" (1998) and "Tyranny Of Souls" (2005).

O'Callaghan is an Irish musician who joined WHITESNAKE in 2021 and toured with the David Coverdale -fronted outfit the following year. She also hit the road with Dickinson last year as part of a performance of Jon Lord 's "Concerto For Group And Orchestra" on nearly a dozen dates in Europe and South America.

Californian drummer Moreno previously played on "Tyranny Of Souls" and has worked with BODY COUNT , Jizzy Pearl , Dizzy Reed and Steve Stevens , among others.

Italian keyboard wizard Mistheria has collaborated with an array of artists live and in the studio, including Rob Rock , Mike Portnoy , Jeff Scott Soto and Joel Hoekstra .

"The Mandrake Project" arrived on March 1 via BMG .

Bruce and Roy recorded "The Mandrake Project" largely at Los Angeles's Doom Room , with Roy doubling up as both guitarist and bassist. The recording lineup for "The Mandrake Project" was rounded out by Mistheria and Moreno , both of whom also featured on Bruce 's last solo studio album, "Tyranny Of Souls" , in 2005.

Dickinson made his recording debut with IRON MAIDEN on the "Number Of The Beast" album in 1982. He quit the band in 1993 in order to pursue his solo career and was replaced by Blaze Bayley , who had previously been the lead singer of the metal band WOLFSBANE . After releasing two traditional metal albums with former MAIDEN guitarist Adrian Smith , Dickinson rejoined the band in 1999 along with Smith .

Roger Daltrey says live music is 'the only thing that hasn’t been stolen by the internet'

john eddie tour dates

Roger Daltrey has some thoughts.

He doesn’t want to disclose much about his impending electric/acoustic summer solo tour because he doesn't want to ruin any potential surprises. "Remember the days when you would go to a show and be wowed because you didn’t know what was next? There’s something to be said about mystique,” he says.

While he reaffirms his comment to USA TODAY from 2023 that he doubts The Who would ever play the U.S. again, he also wishes, in a way, that “we could go backward. I’d love to show people where we started , with a lot of energy.” So, is that a possibility? “No,” he says with a laugh. “We’re too old. I’d have a go at it, but Pete (Townshend) would have quite a shock. In those days, what we lacked in technique, we made up for in volume, and we can’t do that anymore.”

How about the current version of The Who’s masterful rock opera “Tommy” now playing on Broadway . Has he seen it? “No.” Does he plan to? “No.” But Daltrey will never shirk from elaborating a position. “I’m just not interested. I prefer the original, the original, the original. The Who created the best rock opera ever written and it should remain there as far as I’m concerned.”

When he mentions that longtime guitarist in his solo band, Simon Townshend – younger brother of Who legend Pete – is “my soul partner on the road. He’s my replacement for Pete,” one wonders how Pete feels about this.

“I don’t know. And I don’t care.”

Daltrey’s bracing honesty is both amusing and laudable. His comments could be construed as the crankiness of an 80-year-old, but his demeanor is that of a bloke in a pub having a pint and laughing as easily at himself as the world around him.

And really, his bluntness should be celebrated, because even if you disagree with his positions, he makes valid points.

As one of the most captivating frontmen in rock ‘n’ roll history, Daltrey has pushed his gritty roar of a voice behind timeless anthems – “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” “Baba O’Riley,” “Pinball Wizard,” “Who Are You” – and searing ballads such as “Behind Blue Eyes” and the whisper-to-a-bellow “Love, Reign O’er Me.”

His 11-date summer tour kicks off June 10 in Glenside, Pennsylvania, before making stops in northern Virginia, upstate New York, Boston and Detroit among other cities. He’ll be joined by the aforementioned Simon Townshend on guitar, Scott Devours on drums, Geraint Watkins on keyboards and accordion, John Hogg on bass, Doug Boyle on guitar, Jody Linscott on percussion, Katie Jacoby on violin, Steve Weston on harmonica and Billy Nicholls on mandolin.

It’s a large ensemble for a tour billed as semi-acoustic, but Daltrey quickly clarifies that attendees shouldn’t expect a quiet evening of unplugged classics.

“It’s just varied instrumentation. The one thing about the show, though, is no synthesizers, which I’m happy about,” he says. “I like the rawness of real instruments and in some ways (synths) can wind up doing too much.”

So “Baba O’Riley” will be minus its synth loop and “Won’t Get Fooled” also scrubbed to basics, which Daltrey is anticipating.

“It opens people’s minds to maybe hearing the song for the first time,” he says.

The show will also include songs pulled from his 10 solo albums, possibly some covers and a Q&A segment with the audience. Despite the uncertainty that comes with giving the mic to fans, Daltrey is undaunted about the questions he might field.

“I didn’t say I’m going to answer all of them,” he says with a chuckle. “A lot are so stupid you wouldn’t want to hear the answers, anyway. But it can be a lot of fun, or it can be disastrous if the questions aren’t any good.”

The openers on his June run of dates are a rotation of KT Tunstall, Dan Bern, Leslie Mendelson and Inhaler. Tunstall, of “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree” fame , will join the bill on most shows and Daltrey says he chose her because “she’s a fabulous artist, really gutsy. That’s what it’s all about.”

Daltrey first met Tunstall in 2014, when she performed at his dearly held annual Teenage Cancer Trust concert. Since 2000, Daltrey has curated the all-star event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, raising more than $40 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust organization , which funds specialized nurses and hospital units in the U.K.’s National Health Service along with additional support for young people with cancer.

After this year’s installment in January – which featured a walloping lineup including longtime pal Robert Plant , Eddie Vedder and Pete Townshend – Daltrey announced he would step down as curator .

“I don’t feel at this age I can be responsible for the charity,” he says, noting that he will remain in an honorary position and if a concert curator isn’t available for the 2025 edition, he’ll happily assume his position one more time. But, he says, “I just feel I’ve got to hand it over to younger blood to carry it forward … but I’ll always be there for it.”

Daltrey’s involvement in the charity always pokes at his softer side. But he wouldn’t be Daltrey without offering one more worldly perspective.

“This whole tour,” he says, “I just want to make sure we give the audience a great time. It’s a tough old world at the moment and thank God live music is there and that it’s the only thing that hasn’t been stolen by the internet. I think all of the YouTube stuff is very unhelpful. I don’t think it enhances (getting) anyone’s bums in seats. I think people are much more likely to go if they don’t know what to expect,” he says. Then adds with another throaty laugh, “Let’s go watch them fail!”
