Quick guide: Autosweep or Easytrip? Which expressways use which RFID tag

Easytrip, Autosweep, RFID, RFID guide ph, ph rfid guide, autosweep rfid guide, autosweep guide, easytrip rfid guide, easytrip guide

It’s been a while since the government and tollway operators first pushed expressway users to make the switch to RFIDs . But judging by the long queues we still see at toll plazas, it appears there’s still a lot of reluctance among motorists to go cashless for their toll payments.

Part of that reluctance could be caused by confusion. There are two RFIDs in use right now— Autosweep and Easytrip —and it could prove tricky for first-time expressway or RFID users to determine which tollway uses which tag. “We’d rather pay cash instead,” is a line we’ve heard or read a lot.

ALSO READ: Number coding: MMDA’s new scheme banning cars twice a week could take effect on May 1 MMDA proposal requires your brand-new car to have the same plate ending as your existing one

If you wanted to drive from Cavite to Clark , for example, you will be passing multiple expressways in one trip. Let’s say you started off at the far end of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX)—you’d need Easytrip to cross that. Once you get to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) all the way to the Skyway and Skyway Stage 3 , you’ll then need an Autosweep tag. Then when you finally reach the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), you’ll need your Easytrip again for those. We told you it could get tricky.

“Why not just use one tag for all expressways?” It’s not that simple. For starters, there are different tollway operators: San Miguel Corporation ’s SMC Tollways, Ayala Corporation  subsidiary MCX Tollway, and Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation  (MPTC). The three use different tags for their tollways, with Ayala and SMC the only two to share the same RFID.

To be fair to these operators, the use of a single RFID tag on all expressways is now possible. The problem is that it isn’t widely and readily available just yet. You’d still have to activate your existing accounts for this, which is actually a chore in itself. Simply lining up at Autosweep or Easytrip installation sites is much easier, so why bother, right?

So for now, we’ll just give you a detailed rundown of which expressways use Autosweep and which ones use Easytrip. You can scroll through the lists below.

Expressways that use Autosweep RFID

autosweep RFID, autosweep sticker, autosweep tag, smc tollways rfid, san miguel corp autosweep, slex rfid, tplex rfid, skyway rfid

  • South Luzon Expressway (SLEX)
  • Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway)
  • NAIA Expressway (NAIAX)
  • Skyway Stage 3
  • Tarlac–Pangasinan–La Union Expressway (TPLEX)
  • Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway  (MCX)

Expressways that use Easytrip RFID

  • North Luzon Expressway (NLEX)
  • Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX)
  • Manila-Cavite Expressway (Cavitex)
  • Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX)
  • C5 South Link

Now, before you hit the road, remember that you should always have enough load in your RFID accounts, lest you cause any delays and hassle to other motorists or worse, get ticketed for violations.  For a full guide on reloading your Autosweep accounts, click these blue words . Easytrip RFID Guide: Installation and Set-up

The use of Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) is just one of the innovative and efficient ways of breezing through toll booths. Easytrip RFID is one of the many RFID systems that offer a convenient solution that not only saves time but also simplifies the toll payment process.

Though it isn’t the only RFID system available in the country, Easytrip RFID offers a unique combination of widespread acceptance, efficiency, ease of installation, multiple reload options, comprehensive online account management, and collaboration with banks, making it a preferred choice for motorists in the Philippines. In this guide, we’ll explore everything there is to know about Easytrip RFID—from the basics of getting it installed and set up to the process of using it to make an overall better travel experience.

easytrip rfid guide

What is Easytrip RFID?

Easytrip RFID is an electronic toll collection system offered by the Easytrip Services Corporation, Metro Pacific Tollway Company (MPTC)’s exclusive electronic toll collection system integrator and provider in some of the major expressways in the Philippines. It eliminates the need for traditional cash payments, allowing for a faster and more seamless tollgate experience.

The RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) technology enables automatic payment as your vehicle passes through the toll booth in North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) , Subic Clark Tarlac  Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), C5 Link Flyover, and Cavite- Laguna   Expressway (CALAX).

Easytrip RFID also refers to the government-endorsed radio frequency identification sticker affixed to a vehicle’s windshield or headlight. Like the Autosweep RFID, Easytrip RFID is also designed to facilitate contactless and cashless payment of toll fees. As you approach the designated Easytrip RFID lane at the toll plaza, a specialized sensor reads your sticker, swiftly lifting the toll barrier without the need to wait in the cash lane or search for cash in your wallet or coin holder.

Why Easytrip RFID is the Best RFID Option

Easytrip RFID stands out among other RFID systems in the Philippines for several reasons:

  • Widespread Acceptance

Easytrip RFID is widely accepted across major expressways in the Philippines. This widespread acceptance provides users with the convenience of using a single RFID system for toll payments, making it versatile for various travel routes.

  • Integrated Toll Network

Easytrip RFID is part of a network that covers a substantial number of toll booths and expressways, particularly those in NLEX, SCTEX, CAVITEX, C5 Link, and CALAX. However, a new Easytrip RFID sticker with Neology stickers (RFID Duo) and higher readability was released, creating a more integrated toll collection system. This integration enhances the user experience by allowing them the option to link the Easytrip RFID with Autosweep RFID. In doing so, the driver gains the ability to utilize their Easytrip RFID at SMC’s Autosweep RFID toll gates, courtesy of the Toll Regulatory Board’s toll interoperability project. The Autosweep System can read the new Easytrip RFIDs equipped with Neology stickers (RFID Duo), allowing it to be used to make convenient payments in tollways managed by SMC, including the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR) Tollway, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway, Tarlac – Pangasinan -La Union Expressway (TPLEX), and MCX ( Muntinlupa – Cavite Expressway).

  • Efficient and Fast Transactions

The technology behind Easytrip RFID enables fast and efficient toll transactions. Users can experience quicker processing times at toll booths, reducing congestion and streamlining the overall travel experience.

  • Ease of Installation and Accessibility

Easytrip RFID stickers are relatively easy to obtain, with installation sites located conveniently near toll plazas and service centers. The accessibility of installation sites makes it convenient for motorists to get and install the RFID stickers without much hassle.

  • Multiple Reload Options

Easytrip RFID users have various options for reloading funds into their accounts. Whether it’s through designated reloading stations, online platforms, or mobile apps provided by partner banks, the flexibility in reloading methods adds to the convenience of using Easytrip RFID.

  • Comprehensive Online Account Management

Easytrip provides an online platform for users to manage their accounts efficiently. Through the Easytrip website or mobile apps, users can monitor their account balances, review transaction histories, and reload their accounts, offering a user-friendly and comprehensive management system.

  • Collaboration with Partner Banks

Easytrip has established collaborations with partner banks, allowing users to reload their RFID accounts through these bank channels. This partnership expands the accessibility of reloading options, catering to a broader user base.

While other RFID systems may have their merits, Easytrip RFID’s combination of widespread acceptance, efficiency, ease of installation, multiple reload options, comprehensive online account management, and collaboration with banks contribute to making it a preferred choice for motorists in the Philippines.

Benefits of Using Easytrip RFID

Using Easytrip RFID offers numerous benefits that enhance the overall travel experience:

  • Time Efficiency

Easytrip RFID enables swift and automatic toll transactions, reducing waiting times at toll booths. This time efficiency is particularly valuable during peak travel hours.

  • Cashless Convenience

With Easytrip RFID, drivers can enjoy the convenience of cashless transactions. There’s no need to carry physical cash, eliminating the risk of fumbling for change or dealing with toll booth attendants.

  • Seamless Toll Payments

Easytrip RFID ensures a seamless toll payment process. As you approach the designated RFID lanes, the system automatically deducts the toll fee from your account, allowing for a smooth passage through toll plazas.

  • Reduced Traffic Congestion

The efficiency of Easytrip RFID contributes to the overall reduction of traffic congestion at toll booths. Quicker transactions mean less waiting time, benefiting both individual drivers and the flow of traffic.

  • Versatility Across Expressways

Easytrip RFID is widely accepted across major expressways in the Philippines. This versatility allows drivers to use the same RFID sticker on different expressways, providing a unified toll payment solution for various travel routes.

  • Online Account Management

Users can conveniently manage their Easytrip RFID accounts online. This includes checking account balances, reviewing transaction histories, and reloading funds through the Easytrip website or mobile apps.

  • Compatibility with Interoperable Systems

Easytrip RFID’s compatibility with interoperable systems, such as Autosweep, expands the range of expressways where it can be used. This interoperability enhances the flexibility of the RFID system for drivers.

  • Cost-Effective Travel

The efficiency of Easytrip RFID translates into cost-effective travel. By minimizing time spent at toll booths and eliminating the need for physical cash, drivers can experience more economical and streamlined journeys.

  • Convenient Installation and Reload Options

Easytrip RFID installation is easily accessible at authorized sites near toll plazas. Additionally, drivers have multiple options for reloading funds, including designated reloading stations, online platforms, and mobile apps provided by partner banks.

  • Enhanced Security

The RFID technology used in Easytrip enhances security, as transactions are electronically processed, reducing the risk of theft or loss associated with carrying cash.

Adopting the use of Easytrip RFID for driving around the country not only simplifies toll payments, but it also contributes to a more efficient, convenient, and cost-effective travel experience.

Requirements for Easytrip RFID Installation

No documents are required; simply bring the car designated for installation.

Getting an Easytrip RFID Sticker or tag installed on your vehicle requires following these procedures:

Step 1. Acquire an Easytrip RFID sticker:

You may visit an authorized Easytrip installation site, typically located near toll plazas or service centers. Fill out the application form, submit the required documents ( vehicle registration , valid ID), and have the RFID sticker installed on your vehicle’s windshield and wait for your vehicle to undergo testing.

You may also download and complete the registration form on the official Easytrip website: www.easytrip.ph or via this link: Subscription form and T&C before driving to the nearest Easytrip station situated along NLEX, SCTEX, CAVITEX, C-5 Link, or CALAX before visiting the installation site.

Where to Obtain Your Easytrip RFID?

You can acquire an Easytrip RFID at no cost by visiting walk-in or drive-thru installation sites. Simply make your way to any of the Easytrip stations located along NLEX, SCTEX, CAVITEX, C5 Link, and CALAX. This hassle-free option eliminates the need for complex documentation, allowing you to use your Easytrip RFID immediately.

Step 2. Load your Easytrip account:

Once you have the RFID sticker, you need to load funds into your Easytrip account. You can do this at designated reloading stations, online through the Easytrip website, or via mobile apps provided by partner banks.

Note that the amount may vary based on the station. For Easytrip RFID installations at South stations, a ₱200 fee applies, while North stations require a ₱500 payment for the initial load.

Using Easytrip RFID

Once you have the Easytrip RFID sticker and the necessary topup, then you may already drive through tollways and try using it.

Here’s how you do it:

Step 1. Approach the toll booth.

As you approach a toll booth, make sure to use the designated RFID lane. These lanes are usually marked with Easytrip signs.

Step 2. Maintain a steady speed.

Approach the toll gate at a moderate speed, around 20 to 25 km/h. This ensures that the RFID reader can efficiently scan your Easytrip sticker.

Step 3. Keep a safe distance.

Maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you to allow for a smooth transition through the tollgate.

Step 4. Listen for the beep.

Upon successful RFID detection, a beep sound will confirm that the toll has been paid. Check the tollgate display for verification.

Here’s how EasyTrip accounts can be enrolled in Autosweep

Updated Jan 06, 2023 | Same topic: RFID (Autosweep & Easytrip)

Expressways in the country are divided among two major toll operators, requiring the use of separate radio frequency identification (RFID) tags in the form of EasyTrip and Autosweep. Motorists have clamored to allow the use of one RFID tag for all tollways, and fortunately, there’s now a solution.

RFID cards

SMC Infrastructure has released guidelines for users to enroll their EasyTrip accounts to Autosweep

EasyTrip tags are used on tollways run by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation or MPTC such as the North Luzon Expressway and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway . San Miguel Corporation Infrastructure has announced that these can now be read on its own thoroughfares such as the South Luzon Expressway and Skyway.

On its Facebook page, the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) posted the guidelines on how this will be made possible. EasyTrip stickers for vehicle classes 1, 2, and 3 are eligible for enrolment in Autosweep, as long as these use the latest neology format.

Customers need to bring the vehicle bearing the EasyTrip sticker to any of the designated Autosweep customer service centers and kiosks. SMC toll personnel will analyze the EasyTrip tag and determine if the existing Autosweep tag installed on the vehicle can be scanned by readers. Once done, the EasyTrip account will be enrolled in the Autosweep system.

EasyTrip sticker

Eligible EasyTrip stickers can be read by Autosweep scanners starting January 15, 2023

Active Autosweep tags installed in a vehicle and readable on SMC toll roads cannot be removed, even after the EasyTrip account has been successfully enrolled under Autosweep.

If the EasyTrip tag linked to Autosweep has been damaged, users are advised to head to the nearest Autosweep Customer Service Center to have the tag replaced. Afterwards, they must also go to an EasyTrip Customer Service Center to have the account updated. Of note, motorists with an Easytrip RFID can set up an Autosweep account starting January 15, 2023.

Autosweep Customer Service Stations can be found at the following locations:

Meanwhile, these are the designated gas station kiosks for Autosweep:

Easytrip RFID: How to apply, reload, requirements, and more

Easytrip-RFID-NoypiGeeks

Installing an RFID is very much important to car owners. This makes trips on most expressways across the country more convenient and faster. And one of the most critical RFID you must own is Easytrip.

Owned by the Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation, Easytrip RFID is the exclusive toll system of MPTC expressways, which are some of the main expressways in the country. Their roads include CAVITEX and the new CCLEX that is now the longest bridge in the Philippines .

That said, getting an Easytrip RFID if you’re always using any of MPTC’s expressways is clearly a great idea. With that, here are the things you should know about Easytrip RFID.

Easytrip vs Autosweep: What’s the difference?

Ira

Radio Frequency Identification, or RFID, utilizes electromagnetic fields to identify and track tags attached to a variety of objects. RFID is used in a lot of systems, such as events, concerts, possessions, and more. In 2015, RFID tollway tags began replacing the obsolete ePass system as an electronic collection system in Luzon. Did you know that the tollways in Luzon use two different electronic collection systems? We have Easytrip and Autosweep . Read about them here!

easytrip • Easytrip vs Autosweep: What's the difference?

Easytrip is an electronic tollway collection system provided by the Metro Pacific Tollway company. The Easytrip RFID is for vehicles traversing the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX). An Easytrip tag is fixed to the windshield of a vehicle, allowing users to drive through cash-free into designated (or mixed) Easytrip toll lanes. The lanes’ sensor will then read the Easytrip tag, automatically debiting the toll fee from your account.

Easytrip offers three kinds of RFID products, namely a tag, an RFID sticker, and an EasyDrive RFID sticker tag. The Easytrip tag and RFID sticker can be used in NLEX, SCTEX, and CAVITEX, while the EasyDrive sticker can only be used traversing through CAVITEX. To subscribe for an Easytrip RFID, here are the steps to follow:

  • Register for an RFID subscription through Easytrip’s website 31
  • Print out and present the reference number at Easytrip RFID installation sites located at NLEX, SCTEX, and CAVITEX (for a complete list, click here 26 .)
  • Pay the initial load required
  • Customers must bring their vehicle at Easytrip/EasyDrive installation sites 24 hours after sending their online subscription.

An Easytrip RFID sticker requires PHP 500 as an initial load, while the Easytrip RFID tag requires a payment of PHP 2,000 (inclusive of the PHP 300 initial load). On the other hand, EasyDrive requires a subscription fee of PHP 400 (inclusive of the PHP 200 initial load). Checking your current Easytrip balance can be done through Easytrip’s website or their Android app . To reload your Easytrip, visit reloading stations at NLEX Toll Plaza, CAVITEX, Easytrip head office, Petron gasoline stations, Shell gasoline stations, SM business centers, and more. For a complete list, see here .

autosweep • Easytrip vs Autosweep: What's the difference?

As for those traveling via Skyway, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), and Apolinario Mabini Superhighway, there’s the Autosweep system. Similar to Easytrip, Autosweep is an electronic tollway collection system that utilizes RFID for users to pass through the mentioned expressways smoothly and cash-free. Autosweep uses a sticker placed on the windshield of a vehicle. The toll fee is automatically debited from the driver’s account once they pass through Autosweep RFID lanes, similar to how Easytrip works.

To get an Autosweep RFID, here are the steps:

  • Download the Autosweep subscription form 12 from the website
  • Print out the accomplished form and present it at any of the Autosweep registration stations along with a valid ID
  • Pay the initial load
  • Wait for Autosweep to be activated after 2 to 12 hours

Autosweep registration stations are at the Skyway office, Ayala Greenfield toll plaza, Sta. Rosa Southbound toll plaza, Petron SLEX, TPLEX main office, and more. For a full list, see this page 10 . Autosweep requires PHP 500 for Class 1 vehicles and PHP 1,000 for Class 2 and 3 vehicles. To check your balance, visit Autosweep’s website. Users can also check their balance through SMS through the following steps:

  • Text AUTOSWEEP<space>BALINQ<space>Plate Number
  • Send through 09178608655 for Globe or 09188608655 for Smart

Reloading Autosweep can be done via Petron stations, Shell stations, Bayad Center, SM Bills Payment Centers, and a whole lot more. For a complete list, click here .

Overall, here’s a summary of the two services:

Although the Department of Transportation (DoTR) has initiated the Toll Interoperational Project in 2017, the project is still on its first phase. I t’s still recommended to have both Easytrip and Autosweep if you frequently use the mentioned expressways.

For more information on Easytrip and Autosweep, visit their respective websites:

  • Easytrip 36
  • Autosweep 33

Do you use both RFID tags, or do you prefer to queue and pay by cash in tollways? Let us know!

Suppose I only have the Easytrip RFID stickers because I live in Cavite and normally passes thru Cavitex but sometimes I need to pass thru NAIAX, can I pass by paying cash? Thanks

Avatar of Amado Ocampo Marquez

I have 2 kinds of expressway card the Easytrip Card for cavitex and NLEX and Sweep RFID for SCTEX are all these cards are the same ?

Avatar of Lorenz

In NLEX, there are toll lanes which hardly read / sensor the rfid chip. Why is this so?

Kelangan pang imano-mano para ma-validate yung account. Sobra naman sa Php 1,000.00 ang laman at ang babayaran lang ay P54. Bakit po ganun?

Avatar of Jonathan

I’m always hesitant to pass thru any of the cashless lanes because I’m not sure what are the difference. I know that my sticker works for ETC lanes BUT I mainly use it in TPLEX but not NLEX. And we travel north a lot and it’s becoming hassle queueing thru the cash lanes every time. Can someone please help me — in NLEX, what is the difference between RFID (the orangy font) lanes vs the EC lanes vs the Easytrip lanes because I tried passing thru the EC lane one time and I was so embarrassed it did not work. It only works for ETC lanes. What do I need to do for it to work for RFID lanes especially in NLEX. There’s not enough information on the website. It’s really confusing and frustrating knowing that you have a sticker but only works for ETC lanes and not with RFID lanes which are in NLEX tollgates, so I often choose Cash. F*ck this system. So they are different companies?

Avatar of steph

I was hesitant to pass thru RFID lane vs Easytrip lane recently since I’m not familiar with it. I’m hoping for centralize system so it will be easier for those who travel from South to North and north to south. hopefully soon it will be possible. so that we’ll be having one account or sticker/card for an easier reloading sytem.

Avatar of Jem

can we put them together and have just one sticker and account/.card?

Avatar of Ross

2 rfid avail ko sa motor ko convinient mag rfid konti ang naka pila.

Heard there’s disappearing load on both rfid systems.
