Metallica standing for a photo

Metallica have announced the 2025 North American leg of their ongoing M72 World Tour , extending the trek into its third year . The new batch of 21 dates kick off next spring with an April 12 festival show at Las Vegas’ Sick New World. Metallica will then play stadiums in Syracuse, Toronto, Nashville, Philadelphia, Houston, and more, before winding down with a pair of shows at Denver’s Empower Field at Mile High on June 27 and 29. Metallica announced their massive M72 World Tour back in 2022, along with the news of their latest album, 72 Seasons . A portion of the proceeds from every M72 ticket sold will go to local charities via Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation. The philanthropic non-profit aims to combat hunger , support workforce education , and aid communities with additional critical services .

Frontwave Arena hosts first event with 'Gold Over America Tour', gymnast Simone Biles

american tour.com

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV)— Oceanside's brand-new Frontwave Arena opened its doors to the public Monday evening.

The arena's opening made a roaring entrance with the one and only Simone Biles.

The inaugural event marks a new era of entertainment in San Diego's North County.

The arena is also home to the San Diego Sockers and the San Diego Clippers, the Los Angeles Clippers’ G-league team.

The arena has a capacity for 7,500 people and can host concerts, comedy shows, and other community events. Its CEO, Josh Elias, calls the venue a gateway to San Diego from Los Angeles and says it will also be home to hundreds of young soccer players in the community.

"Our plan is to program our plaza and our arena on these massive soccer events that they have 30 weekends of the year, so our outdoor plaza it’s welcome to the community; it’s for the community," says Elias.

The Gold Over America tour is back in Oceanside on Tuesday.

Several concerts and sporting events are scheduled at the Frontwave Arena throughout the end of the year.

Best time to visit united states.

Being such a large country, the weather in the US is different depending on which area you are in. Summer (June to August) is the peak travel season due to school holidays, but it can be uncomfortably hot in the desert areas and the south.

The shoulder seasons of spring and autumn are generally considered to be the best times to visit, but the weather is still highly variable and these may be the wettest times in some parts of the country (such as the Pacific Northwest ). Winter can be cold in the northern states, but quiet in other areas, which can make it a pleasant time to visit.

Culture and customs

With immigration playing a major part in the development of America, today the country is made up of many different cultures. It’s no wonder modern America is rich with a variety of cultural traditions, cuisines, religions and festivals. Because of this, a large diversity of holidays are celebrated in America. Annual holidays like Independence Day and Thanksgiving are usually celebrated by all regardless of religion or political persuasion, and give people a chance to reconnect with family and friends around the dinner table or grill.

From sports to soul music, popular culture to philosophy, and fine art to folk art, the tastes and desires of Americans vary around the country. A love of sport unifies the nation - it doesn’t matter if you live in a city loft or out in the country, sports like ice hockey, basketball, baseball and football all attract a strong following.

Many Native Americans live on reservations and fight to retain their traditions and preserve their heritage, although when visiting reservations don’t be surprised to see Native Americans wearing modern clothing. With much of the language and many of the customs lost over the years, Native Americans strive to live a life of deep spirituality and in connection with the earth, as their ancestors did for centuries.

Check out our range of  experiences in the United States that amplify BIPOC cultures .

Eating and drinking

Intrepid believes that one of the best ways to experience a country is by eating! Whether you're sampling street food, savouring cheap eats or indulging in a banquet, there are endless options to choose from wherever you are in the world.

With a variety of international influences, try Creole cuisine in New Orleans, traditional Jewish fare like bagels and pastrami sandwiches in New York, and barbecue in Texas. America’s got everything, from burger joints to taco shacks, organic cafes to refined Michelin-starred restaurants.

Geography and environment

From the lush everglades of Florida, through the red-hot deserts of Nevada and on to the urban jungles of New York and Philadelphia, the United States has many different environments and ecosystems within its boundaries. Sharing borders with Canada in the north and Mexico in the south, the United States has deserts, glaciers, freshwater lakes, rapid-filled rivers, mountain ranges, sprawling plains, forested national parks, beaches and bays.

The major national parks of America – Yellowstone, Zion, Yosemite, Bryce Canyon, Denali and Joshua Tree offer a glimpse into what much of America looked like before development. Lush vegetation, majestic mountains and sparkling lakes give deer, moose, bears, bison and many other species of wildlife a fertile home to live in.

When traveling, you’re likely to see modern cities filled with traffic, skyscrapers and high-density housing, as well as sleepy towns, trailer parks and Native American reservations. A complex network of highways connect the major cities, making overland travel a popular choice with visitors and locals alike. The great American road trip is still alive and well.

History and government

As one of the world’s most influential nations, major moments and events in American history ripple throughout the rest of the world. The American people are known for their resilience and irrepressible nature, and it is this spirit that allows them to continue to contribute to the world economically, scientifically and creatively.

In recent history, America has enjoyed the historic highs of the moon landings and the devastating lows of Hurricane Katrina. The world has seen American companies like Apple, Facebook, Microsoft and Starbucks change the face of the world. And people like Steven Spielberg, Lance Armstrong, Maya Angelou and Sidney Poitier create masterpieces, break records and win countless awards.

Top 10 must-see cities in the US

1. new york.

You can be anyone you want to be in NYC. Indulge your artistic side at MoMA, mingle with the Gordon Geckos on Wall Street, cheer like a pro at a Yankees game or kick back at a bar with a Manhattan and a new pair of Jimmy Choos.

2. San Francisco

San Francisco is made of sunshine, seafood and a whole lot of hills. This is the place to embrace your inner (or outer) bohemian. But it's not all 'flowers in your hair' and free thinking, be sure to take a ferry to Alcatraz and scoff down a clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf.

3. New Orleans

The Caribbean meets France and Africa in New Orleans. Music is everywhere, and so are the friendly faces. The city comes to life after dark so have an afternoon nap, get some comfortable shoes on and get ready to bar hop the night away.

4. Las Vegas

Hello Lady Luck! Days somehow disappear in the hedonistic blitz of color, light, showgirls, casinos and offers too good to refuse. Try to escape the endless buffets to catch a real Las Vegas show; there's everything from death-defying acrobats to Elvis on offer.

The financial and political powerhouse of Chicago has been the home of two of the most influential people in the world - President Obama and Oprah. Famed for its distinctive architecture, booming performing arts scene and sports-mad locals, the 'Windy City' shouldn't be missed.

The air is warmer, the clothes smaller and the colors are somehow brighter in Miami. Jewish, Latin and Caribbean cultures blend to make a heady mix of great food, even better music and a nightlife filled with the spirit of fiesta. Hang out on perfect beaches, spot classic cars and gaze at the beautiful people as they strut their stuff.

7. Los Angeles

Search beyond the stardust of Hollywood and the excessive price tags of Rodeo Drive, to find the true essence of Los Angeles. Home to a melting pot of cultures, uber-cool restaurants, a hip art scene and the eclectic vibe of Venice Beach, LA is so hot right now!

The birthplace of grunge music and iconic super-companies like Microsoft, Boeing and Starbucks, Seattle offers so much more than great coffee. Markets packed with fresh produce, a harbor perfect for boating, vibrant public art and a thriving live music scene combine to make Seattle a must-see city.

History comes alive in the heritage-filled streets of Memphis. Whether it's at Elvis Presley's Graceland, the lively blues clubs and restaurants of Beale Street or the moving Civil Rights Movement Museum, it could be said that the soul of America lives in Memphis.

One of America's oldest cities, Boston is evolving. Working class neighborhoods are being gentrified, the industry is giving way to tech start-ups and modern architectural treasures sit alongside brown-stone buildings. Despite the change, get chatting to locals about the Red Sox and you'll soon find you're definitely in Boston.

It’s no wonder many people choose to do their clothes shopping in the United States. With iconic department stores offering a wide range of labels, and vintage/charity stores stocking American fashion classics like distressed denim jeans and leather cowboy boots, shopping in America is fun. Known for having great sales and even better customer service, it’s well worth leaving room in your backpack for a few extras. Please note that unlike in many other countries, tax isn’t included in the ticketed price.

It's a good idea to check with your local customs officials to ensure that you are able to bring certain items back into your home country. Australia and New Zealand generally have strict quarantine laws.

Festivals and events

Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, marks the end of the Carnival season in New Orleans. Witness a chaotic collision of lively music, colorful costumes, masquerade masks, soul food and joyful 'krewes' at the parades, parties and masquerade balls in late February every year.

Public holidays that may impact travel include:

Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday

Presidents' Day

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Indigenous Peoples' Day

Veterans' Day

Thanksgiving Day

Please note dates of  United States public holidays  may vary.

Top USA travel highlights

1. venture to the wilds of alaska.

Alaska may be part of the USA, but it feels like another world. With stunning mountain ranges, eclectic wildlife, immense glaciers and an interesting history, this off-track destination is well worth the journey north. Whether you want to go hiking in Denali, snowshoe across Matanuska Glacier, kayak in Kenai Fjords or see the northern lights, adventure awaits.

2. See San Francisco through local eyes

With vibrant, multi-cultural neighbourhoods and iconic landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco is a city you could spend weeks exploring. But to really get a feel for the place, you need to explore with a local. Sample the freshest seafood in Fisherman's Wharf, discover the North Beach and Little Italy districts, and dine at some of the locals' favourite spots for dinner.

3. Explore phenomenal national parks

From larger-than-life Yosemite to the great gaping chasms of the Grand Canyon, national parks in the States are big, bold and beautiful. Escape the hustle of everyday life and uncover the natural beauty, diverse wildlife and Native American history in the likes of Bryce Canyon, Zion and Yellowstone. Whether you want to hike or cycle, stay in comfy lodges or camp in the wilderness, US national parks offer something for all kinds of adventurers.

4. Track wolves in Yellowstone National Park

The world’s first national park positively brims with more hot springs, mud pots and geysers than you can possibly see in one trip. But one of the most memorable things you can do is rise before dawn to join a  wolf-tracking excursion  with a local guide. As well as learning about one of nature's most intriguing animals, if you're lucky, you may see multiple wolves playing together, eating, or looking after young cubs.

5. Visit the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis

Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins… what legend hasn’t recorded here? Sun Studio in Memphis is one of the pinnacles for music lovers traveling in the States. It’s where rock and roll was born, and where soul music hit the big time via Stax Records. After checking out the studio, head to Beale Street to grab a drink and have a boogie in traditional blues clubs.

6. Take a Navajo jeep tour of Monument Valley

Learn about the cultural heritage and sacredness of Monument Valley from those who know it best. After a jeep adventure with a local Navajo guide, join the locals for an authentic Navajo dinner around a campfire and listen to traditional songs and stories passed down through the generations.

Is tipping customary in the US?

Tipping is very much a part of the culture in the United States. Tips are expected at restaurants, cafes and diners, as well as by taxi drivers, valet attendants, porters and hotel maids.

People working in the service industry generally receive low wages and therefore rely upon tips as a major source of income.

In general, leave 15 to 20% of the bill at places serving food and a few dollars to bartenders and hotel staff who provide a personal service like carrying bags or cleaning your room.

What is the internet access like in the US?

Internet access is excellent in the US, and internet cafes and Wi-Fi hot spots are easily found in most cities and major towns.

Can I use my cell phone while in the US?

Cell phone coverage is excellent in most parts of the US although coverage may be patchy in remote, mountainous areas like national parks and canyons. Ensure global roaming is activated before you arrive.

What are the toilets like in the US?

Western-style flushable toilets are the norm in the US.

Can I drink the water in the US?

Drinking water from taps in the US is considered safe unless otherwise marked. For environmental reasons, try to use a refillable water bottle rather than buying bottled water.

Are credit cards accepted widely in the US?

Major credit cards are widely accepted by stores in the US. Smaller cafes and shops may not accept credit cards, so ensure you carry enough cash to cover small purchases.

What is ATM access like in the US?

ATMs are common in the US, so finding one won't be a problem in most towns and cities.

What kind of transport will I use in the United States?

Intrepid believes half the fun of experiencing a new country is getting there, and getting around once there! Where possible, Intrepid uses local transport options and traditional modes of transport - which usually carry less of an environmental impact, support small local operators and are heaps more fun.

Depending on which trip you're on while in the US, you may find yourself traveling by:

Be amazed by enormous glaciers and stunning, icy landscapes while traveling on a ferry in Alaska.

Use pedal power to see the best of Venice Beach and Santa Monica. Cycling is a great way to see the sights and be active at the same time.

Take in the sights while enjoying a ride on one of San Francisco’s icons – the streetcar.

What sort of accommodation will I stay in while traveling in the United States?

Traveling with Intrepid is a little bit different. We endeavor to provide travelers with an authentic experience to remember, so we try to keep accommodation as unique and traditional as possible.

When traveling with us in the US you may find yourself staying in a:

Spend a night sleeping in a hogan – a traditional Navajo structure made of logs, mud and stone and built with an open roof to view the sparkling night sky.

Reconnect with nature and enjoy staying in quaint log cabins throughout the country's beautiful national parks. Fall asleep to the rustling of trees and wake up to the sounds of birds.

Do I need to purchase travel insurance before traveling?

Absolutely. All passengers traveling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your leader on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.

For more information on insurance, please go to: Travel Insurance

Does my trip to the United States support The Intrepid Foundation?

Yes, all Intrepid trips support the Intrepid Foundation. In fact, we make a donation on behalf of every traveler. Trips to the United States directly support our foundation partners, Cultural Heritage Economic Alliance (CHEA) and the Grand Canyon Conservancy.

Cultural Heritage Economic Alliance (CHEA)

Cultural Heritage Economic Alliance (CHEA) create inclusive, equitable opportunities for small Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) tourism businesses in the USA. Donations help CHEA provide access to industry-specific technical assistance, capacity building, and industry networks for small BIPOC travel and tourism businesses through their Diversity Tourism Academy (DTA). Intrepid will double the impact by dollar-matching all post-trip donations made to The Intrepid Foundation.

The Grand Canyon Conservancy

The Grand Canyon Conservancy is on a mission to protect the Grand Canyon National Park for future generations. With almost 6 million visitors to the park annually, the Grand Canyon Conservancy runs educational programs and immersive experiences that teach people about the park's cultural and environmental significance. • Zion National Park  in Utah, for canyons, rivers, and incredible views

You don’t have to leave the U.S. to go on a memorable vacation. One of the best benefits of our United States tours is that you can see beautiful sights right in your proverbial backyard. You won’t have to worry about long flights, exchanging currencies, or language barriers. Plus, you can learn more about the places your ancestors may have traveled or lived, as well as build a deeper connection to the country you call home.

The best time to travel in the U.S. depends on where you’re going and what you’re hoping to do.

Spring:  Consider  U.S. National Parks Adventure: A Week in the Southwest  for outdoor hiking and sightseeing when it’s not too hot outside.

Summer : Visit  Denali National Park  in Alaska for some of the most majestic landscapes and wildlife sightings when it’s warmer.

Fall:  Visit  Vermont and Massachusetts  for stunning views of fall foliage and colonial history, or go on our  Albuquerque Balloon Festival & U.S. National Parks  tour for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

What to pack for USA tours depends on where in the country you go and what you are hoping to do. If you are going to  South Carolina and Georgia , you’ll want to bring a lot of light layers to keep comfortable in the heat and humidity. If you’re going to  Alaska , on the other hand, you’ll want to bring a lot of heavy layers to keep warm in the cold. All of our tours include custom packing suggestions, so check the clothing and packing tips in the tour you love.

M72 Extends Into 2025

M72 Extends Into 2025

american tour.com

As we head down to Mexico City for the final four shows of the summer, we are psyched to share with you our plans for next year. It has been an incredible two years since we first launched our M72 No Repeat Weekend tour, and what a wild ride it’s been… We certainly can’t stop now!

When the concept of the No Repeat Weekend was born a few years ago, we weren’t quite sure what to expect. Now - several years later - following the 40th Anniversary shows in San Francisco, an initial run of two show stands in ’21 at a few festivals, and M72 weekend celebrations in 22 different cities around the world in ’23 and ’24, we think it’s a keeper. Seeing fans from far corners of the planet connecting with other ’Tallica family members and creating a full weekend experience together has been more than we ever dreamed it would be. There’s no doubt that we need to extend this party into 2025!

Year three will kick off with 21 North American shows across April, May, and June of next year with the same unique stadium production three million of you saw over the last couple of years…or may have seen in photos or videos. Yes, we’ll be back mid-field in-the-round with the Snake Pit in the center of the stage so that you guys will have a complete 360° view of the show. The No Repeat Weekend tradition continues with each of the two shows offering a completely unique experience: two totally different set lists with two different bands opening each night! Purchase a 2-Day Ticket, and you won’t see the same song twice across both setlists spanning our 40+ years of being lucky enough to make music. We’ll be sure to have lots of extracurricular events planned for you to hang with fellow Metallica fans on the night between shows.

We’ve added some cities to the weekend adventures that we haven’t visited in quite some time, including Tampa (over 15 years!), Denver, Nashville, and a location that’s been on our wish list for far too long, as we’ll finally be hitting our Bay Area home field of Levi’s Stadium for the first time.

In a new twist, M72 2025 will also include several single shows with the full production, including the in-the-round stage and Snake Pit. Among them are two college football stadiums: JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, New York, and our first-ever visit to Blacksburg, Virginia, home of the Virginia Tech Hokies. The show at Lane Stadium will mark the culmination of 20+ years of “Enter Sandman” playing as the Hokies take the field.

The schedule also includes two festival headline dates—the first being the opening night of the tour on April 12 at Sick New World at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds. May 9 and 11 will bring a festival/No Repeat Weekend combo as we play two nights at Sonic Temple at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Each stadium show offers a variety of Enhanced Experiences , ranging from access to a meet and greet, production and stage tour, food and beverage in the “Black Box” lounge to early entry into the venue and the aforementioned Snake Pit. The very popular “I Disappear Ticket” is back and is the ultimate pass for the fan who wants to run away with us for all the shows. Grab one of these and attend every M72 show in North America! For more information about Enhanced Experiences and I Disappear Tickets, visit wearesuper.co/metallica . There is one more 2025 addition to the M72 experience; travel packages to most locations are also offered, including hotel, ticket, and shuttle options. Visit metallicatravel.com for all the info.

In keeping with what is now tradition, we’re excited to share the stage with different bands on each night of the No Repeat Weekends. Two M72 veterans are returning as Pantera and Ice Nine Kills have signed up for another year with us, and we’re really psyched to welcome two former tour mates and good friends, Limp Bizkit and Suicidal Tendencies.

No Repeat Weekend two-day discounted tickets and cities with single shows only will be on sale on Friday, September 27. Fan Club presales, including one for 2-Day Sonic Temple passes, start early on Monday, September 23. There will also be various other presales beginning later that day and throughout the week ( check out the complete list for details ). To request your Fan Club presale code, visit metallica.com/presale-codes . If you cannot join us for a full No Repeat Weekend, Single-Day Tickets to those shows will be available starting January 17, 2025.

M72’s 2025 North American leg is produced by Live Nation and presented by new sponsor inKind. inKind rewards diners with special offers and credit back when they use the app to pay at 2,000+ top-rated restaurants nationwide. The company provides innovative financing to participating restaurants in a way that enables new levels of sustainability and success. Fans can learn more at inkind.com .

As always, a portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to local charities via the band’s foundation, All Within My Hands. Established in 2017 as a way to give back to communities that have supported Metallica over the years, All Within My Hands has raised over $15 million, providing $8.2 million in grants to career and technical education programs, including the ground-breaking Metallica Scholars Initiative, now in its sixth year, over $3.6 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.5 million to disaster relief efforts.

Finally, North America is not our only stop in 2025, as this year, we will return to Australia and New Zealand after far too long away!!! Stay tuned for the full announcement coming VERY soon.

Simone Biles leads star-studded cast of US gymnasts headlining 'victory lap' Gold Over America Tour

CNNWire logo

Some of the world's elite athletes are swapping the vault, pommel horse and the uneven bars for the stage floor in a dramatic fusion of sports and entertainment.

Led by 11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles , a team featuring some of the biggest names in American gymnastics have embarked on a tour around the United States for a "high-energy and high-flying, gymnastics-meets-pop-concert spectacle."

The Gold Over America Tour sees its performers display an array of improbable aerial feats and the athletic ability that has taken several members of the group to glory on the Olympic stage.

Biles said in a press release that she is "so excited" and described the tour as "a victory lap around the US."

"It's more of a celebration tour," Biles told CNN's Coy Wire ahead of the tour's upcoming fourth show in San Jose on Saturday. "Not just for us gymnasts, but for the audience as well because we're all celebrating our big wins over in Paris, so to bring us all in one place and get to tour America, there's no better way."

She added that she was eager "to share the love and passion that we have for gymnastics with everybody in the crowd."

Biles added three more Olympic gold medals to her tally in Paris earlier this year, winning the team, individual all-around and vault events and taking silver in the floor exercise.

The tour consists of 32 arena shows and got underway on Monday in Oceanside, California. It headed to Phoenix on Wednesday, where members of the cast were welcomed into the city's Footprint Arena by Phoenix Mercury basketball stars Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and Kahleah Copper.

Biles and co. visited Los Angeles on Friday, with the next leg of the tour scheduled to take place in San Jose on Saturday.

The tour will stop in cities such as Denver, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta and Orlando and conclude in Detroit on November 3.

The lineup features many of Biles' national teammates, such as Jordan Chiles - who is currently appealing a decision that cost her a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics - Jade Carey, Hezly Rivera and Joscelyn Roberson.

"We don't have to get judged on every event!" Chiles told CNN's Wire when asked about the biggest difference between the tour and competition. "There's no numbers, there's nothing like that. I think it's really just us having fun and really bringing our personalities out. There are a bunch of different personalities on this tour."

Paul Juda, Brody Malone and Frederick Richard are among those representing Team USA's male competitors.

Canada's Peng-Peng Lee and Ellie Black, France's Mélanie de Jesus dos Santos and Casimir Schmidt of the Netherlands make up the cast's international contingent.

This is the second Gold Over America Tour that Biles has led. The inaugural iteration of the event took place in 2021 and was an all-woman tour designed to inspire the next generation of female athletes. This year's tour, though, sees male athletes join the cast for the first time.

Biles described the camaraderie between the athletes as a "brother and sisterhood" and added that she was looking forward to working with gymnasts that she does not normally cross paths with.

The tour has been referred to by its acronym "GOAT," more than likely a nod to Biles' legendary standing in professional gymnastics. Part of warmup for a recent involved a spot of "goat yoga," which saw Biles and Chiles balance a live goat on their backs .

Hogan was our excellent guide. We were a family of 8 ranging in age from teens to mid sixties of varying hiking ability and were all able to enjoy a wide range of activities. We paid extra for hotel accommodations and found it well worth it although, if everyone is willing to sleep in tents, you can save a lot and have basically the same adventure.
My 14 y.o. and I had such a terrific time on this 3-day group tour from Vegas to the Grand Canyon, Zion, and the Navajo Nation. Hogan was a great guide - friendly, approachable, helpful. The absolute highlight of this trip was Antelope Canyon. It was magical beyond words. Then Monument Valley, also within the Navajo (Dine) Nation was incredible. Another highlight was morning at the Watchtower at the Grand Canyon - ours were the first steps in the overnight snow dusting, and the morning was magical. Bindlestiff had set up solid accommodations, great lunches, support of local businesses, suggested good hikes, and arranged for terrific side tours. Hogan's commentary and driving were exemplary. If there is one thing I wish for more on this - more of the complex history.
Everything was great. We enjoyed the pacing of our itinerary and our guide Gogee was excellent.

"The tour was overally amazing. I had a really fun experience and I would recommend this to anyone wanting to experience the west coast. However, the itinerary did start to fall flat from day 3. There was sooo much traveling and not enough sigh-seeing in my opinion.

Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a large-scale mountain sculpture by artist Gutzon Borglum. The figures of America's most prominent U.S. presidents - George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln  and Theodore Roosevelt - represent 150 years of American history.

The Memorial is located in the Black Hills of South Dakota . The name “Black Hills” comes from the Lakota words Paha Sapa, which mean “hills that are black”. Native Americans came to the Black Hills to seek visions and to purify themselves. Paha Sapa was considered a sanctuary and was a peaceful meeting ground for tribes at war. Exploration of the Black Hills by fur traders and trappers occurred in the 1840s. In 1874, General Custer led an Army exploration into the area and discovered gold. When word got out of the discovery of gold in the Black Hills, settlers soon followed.

Driving America's most iconic highway is the trip of a lifetime. Route 66 is the embodiment of the American Dream

The romance of Route 66 continues to captivate people around the world. Running between Chicago and Los Angeles , “over two thousand miles all the way” in the words of the popular R&B anthem, this legendary old road passes through the heart of the United States on a diagonal trip that takes in some of the country’s most archetypal roadside scenes.

If you’re looking for great displays of neon signs, rusty middle-of-nowhere truck stops, or kitschy Americana, do as the song says and “get your kicks on Route 66.”

Located in the heart of the Black Hills of western South Dakota, Crazy Horse Memorial is the world's largest mountain carving in progress.

It’s no surprise that Chicago is one of the most interesting tourist destinations in the USA - with miles of beaches, world-class museums, and some of the friendliest city-dwellers out there.

Niagara Falls  is one of the world’s most stunning Natural wonders.

The waterfalls are the main attraction and there's a range of ways to see them: from their foot on the legendary Maid of the Mist boat tours; from behind in caves accessible by elevator; from the sky hovering in helicopters; or gazing from observation towers.

But away from the falls, both the New York and Canadian sides offer various activities to keep visitors entertained. The area also hosts several family-friendly attractions, including Old Fort Niagara and the Niagara SkyWheel. If you don't have kids in tow, try your luck at the Niagara Fallsview Casino or sample some of the area's famous ice wine at the Inniskillin Winery.

Monuments and memorials, eclectic neighborhoods, true local flavor -  Washington, D.C. is a place unlike any other.

With its neoclassical government buildings and broad avenues, Washington, D.C., looks its part as America's capital . Majestic monuments and memorials pay tribute to notable leaders and great achievements and merit a visit. But D.C. also lives firmly in the present, and not just politically; new restaurants and bars continually emerge, upping the hipness factor in neighborhoods from Capitol Hill to U Street.

The internationally renowned collections of the Smithsonian - 140 million objects, specimens, and artworks displayed in the world's largest museum complex - make Washington one of the great museum cities.

As often as you have seen it on TV or in a movie, nothing can prepare you for your first sight of Las Vegas . The skyline is hyper-reality, a mélange of the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, and a pyramid. But in the spaces between the visual madness, there's a bit of something for everyone, whether you want a wild party, a relaxing getaway, or something in between.

Las Vegas is designed to keep you entertained, satisfied, satiated, and distracted from the real world outside its glittering borders.

The chances of getting bored in Las Vegas are slim at best. Start on the Strip where you could spend days goggling at the visual overload of the whole thing: Wonder at the appropriated skylines of New York-New York, Paris Las Vegas, and The Venetian; get your camera ready for the delightful dancing waters of the Fountains at Bellagio and the lava-spewing drama of the Mirage Volcano; or pull out your wallet and try your luck in one of the dozens of opulent casinos.

Monument Valley , an iconic symbol of the American West , is the sacred heart of the Navajo Nation and the ideal setting for your next adventure in the warm, high desert climate of southeastern Utah .

In some ways, Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is the definitive West. Ancestral spirits infuse the rugged, disruptive landscapes that feel foreign, yet distinctly familiar thanks to Hollywood's long love affair with this land. Vast, magnificent and inarguably beautiful, the Grand Canyon is easily Arizona ’s most distinguishable landmark - and a natural wonder that you simply have to see to believe. Stretching 277 miles from end to end, steep, rocky walls descend more than a mile to the canyon’s floor, where the wild Colorado River traces a swift course southwest.

Whether you stop at the canyon for an hour or stay for a week, you’ll have plenty of ways to enjoy some adventure, recreation or just great views.

You can reach Grand Canyon National Park from main entrances on the South Rim – including the South Rim’s eastern entrance – and the North Rim. The Canyon's western edge is also accessible via roads on the Hualapai Indian Reservation.
