All Saints (2017)

Was the church really on the verge of closing when pastor michael spurlock took over.

Yes. All Saints' Church in Smyrna, Tennessee didn't have the money to remain in operation. They needed a miracle. Those in charge of the church believed that the best option was to close it down and sell the property. Actor John Corbett (left) and the real Reverend Michael Spurlock (right).

What was Michael Spurlock's previous profession before becoming a priest?

In researching the All Saints true story, we learned that from 1995 to 1999, the real Michael Spurlock had worked in editing and publishing in New York City. He met his wife Aimée, an opera singer and musical actress, in Central Park in 1997. Before entering the seminary, he worked in corporate sales. In 2004, he began his studies at the Nashotah House Theological Seminary under the auspices of the Bishop of Tennessee. Michael graduated and was ordained in 2007.

How many members did All Saints' Church have when Michael Spurlock took over as pastor?

Michael Spurlock's All Saints book chronicles the true story, in addition to taking a closer look at the Karen people and the church. According to the All Saints book released in conjunction with the movie, the church had only 25 members when Michael Spurlock took over as pastor and a mortgage it couldn't afford. All Saints' Church was Michael's first assignment after being ordained.

Did the church really welcome approximately 70 refugees who became part of the congregation?

Yes, and like in the movie, the Karen refugees from Myanmar helped to grow the congregation and solve the church's financial issues. The refugees were Christians and their numbers grew over time. As Anglicans, they shared many similarities with the Episcopal Church.

Did they really solve the church's financial issues by starting a farm on the property?

Yes. The Karen refugees, who first came to the church in 2008, were farmers by trade. Like in the movie, they asked if they could plant crops on the church property to provide for their families, and if possible, to help the church at the same time. They all worked together to begin farming the 16 acres of bottomland, which is ideal for growing crops. They grew spinach, sour leaf and a variety of other vegetables. The majority of the proceeds ended up being donated to the church to help with the bills. After the Karen refugees showed up, the church also began to receive financial help from the diocese, who saw value in the church's newly expanded congregation. Led by John Bauerschmidt, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee, the diocese paid off the mortgage and employed Ye Win, a refugee, as a lay worker. Win is portrayed by Nelson Lee in the movie. The farm fields behind All Saints' Episcopal Church in Tennessee and the front of the church (inset).

Did Michael and his wife really meet a couple on a hike who provided them with a water tank?

Yes. The real Michael Spurlock and his wife Aimée were on a hike when they ran into another couple. In real life, the couple was younger and had a baby. That day, Michael was frustrated with the way things were going at the church and didn't want to speak to anyone, but Aimée started asking about the couple's baby. "Out of politeness, I struck up a conversation with this farmer," Michael said in an interview for the movie , "and it turned out we knew people in common, and he told me, 'You know, as my farm has grown, we have equipment that we've outgrown and isn't useful to me anymore, and if we have anything you need, you're welcome to it.' And I said, 'We do need something. We need a thousand gallon water tank mounted on a trailer with a pump.' He said, 'I have a thousand gallon water tank mounted on a trailer with a pump. You can have it.'"

Do any of the real people appear in the movie?

Yes, many of the parishioners that are shown in the movie are from the actual congregation. The real-life Karen refugees from Burma appear in the movie too. It was filmed at the actual All Saints' Church where the events took place, located just outside of Nashville.

Does Reverend Michael Spurlock still work at All Saints' Church in Tennessee?

No. The real Michael Spurlock went on to become part of the clergy at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in New York City. As of the movie's release, he is still on the clergy staff there and lives in New York City with his wife Aimée and their two children, son Atticus and daughter Hadley. Left: Aimée and Pastor Michael Spurlock in 2017. Right: Cara Buono and John Corbett as Aimée and Michael in the All Saints movie.

How long did Michael Spurlock work at All Saints' Church?

Reverend Michael Spurlock worked at All Saints' Episcopal Church for three years.

Unearth more details behind the All Saints true story by watching the Pastor Michael Spurlock interview below.

Starting Period [ Edit ] [ ]

Both Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis started their career as backing singers as at ZTT Recording Studios in the All Saints Road to  London . In  1993  decided Mel and were signed to ztt records should become a group. Not much later, Simone Rainford joined the two girls. According to Simone had the girls thought the name  Spice  , but they eventually found itself that that name was not good enough. After this it was decided to the band the name All Saints 1.9.7.5. to give, a reference to the street where Shaznay and Melanie had met each other. 1.9.7.5. was another reference to their year of birth. Performed In  1994  for the first time in public during the Notting Hill Carnival. The highlight of the band was during the Smash Hits Tour of  1995  where they first received a glimpse of celebrity and along with  Boyzone ,  Peter André  and the  Backstreet Boys performed. The song appeared in 1994 as the first single  Silver Shadow  but due to few airplay flopped it mercilessly. The musical differences between the girls made sure in the long run for that in the summer of 1995 Rainford left.

Shaznay Lewis and Melanie decided to try it as a duo in the music world. That same year he released the single  If You Wanna Party (I Found Lovin')  but also this knew-like previous single not to reach the charts. ZTT Records decided to not go below to go with the duo. However Melanie and Shaznay wanted to continue and even went looking for a replacement for Simone. After several auditions, Melanie Melanie's father met Nicole Appleton, who knew from her school years at Sylvia Young Theatre School. It was made for the group that Nicole Shaznay excited. Natalie was at first hesitant to join them, since they had brought Rachel in the world two years earlier and she wanted to abandon her, however her parents decided to help in the education of the baby and to give her the opportunity to start a career. Thus was established in May 1996, the four girls met Karl Gordon-a former member of "Outlaw Posse"-with whom she had a demo recordings for  I Know Where it's At . The next task was to find a record label, however most record labels wanted to reshape them in a Spice Girls equivalent. Fortunately the demo go to London Records where John Benson made the deal in november 1996.

First success [ Edit ] [ ]

In  1997   I Know Where it's At , stormed their debut single as a Quartet, to number 4 in the UK singles chart and was extremely successful, however it was the next single,  Never Ever  (november  1997 ) that All Saints launched as pop stars and of which more than one million copies were sold in the United Kingdom. According to Ger Tait is a reason for the success of  Never Ever  that it is based on the music of  Amazing Grace  and even though the text is completely different, the unconsciously recognized.   [1 ]  it was also released in november the debut album, simply titled  All Saints  with them. Right away there were in England as early as the first week of a half million units sold. Outside the UK the album was released in January 1998. The band flew halfway around the world over for promotion at radio and television stations. In February took place the presentation of the annual Brit Awards. All Saints ran the chance to two prizes to be won. The band was nominated in the category of Best Video and Best Single and knew the nominations into Awards. They were finally taken seriously by the British media as girl band.

In april appeared a new single from the band with A double A-side:  Under The Bridge/Lady Marmalade . All Saints knew again the first place in the British charts, and also outside of their home country did this single well. The summer months of this year were mainly devoted to promotion in America. With All Saints  Never Ever  scored a hit in the American charts, by finishing at no. 4. The next single in Europe was-slightly sex-oriented-  Bootie Call  that in England the third number-one single for the band meant. Melanie stopped temporarily In the autumn with All Saints, as she was expecting her first child. The remaining members went all trio further. So they did promotion for the new single  War Of Nerves , which in England still no. 7 in the charts, but beyond don't really start. All Saints had a number of nominations received by the MTV Europe Music Awards, and knew there (only) one to cash: those for Best breakthrough Act.

Comeback [ Edit ] [ ]

All Saints  1999  started with an extensive successful tour by England. Plans were also made for a new album. Melanie-now gave birth to a daughter-returned back to the band, a did so also competed in the tour.Nicole, Natalie and Melanie also decided this year to focus on a new challenge: acting.  Dave Stewart  (frontman of  The Eurythmics  had the 3 girls approached to participate in the film  Honest  that he himself would direct. While Mel, Nic and Nat were working with film recordings, filled Shaz her time writing new songs. So she came in contact with William Orbit in mid-' 99, a successful producer who in 1998 with Madonna on the album  Ray Of Light  had worked.  Honest  was not a success. The band went back into the studio in the autumn in order to work on new songs. The first new material appeared in January  2000 . The song  Pure Shores was the fourth number one hit in England for All Saints and also connected with the American feature film  The Beach . The song was included In 2013 in the video game  Grand theft auto V  as one of the hits on the ingame radio. The girls were all Over the world again at the top. Next, the weather for a moment around the band, but in October the band returned back with a new single called  Black Coffee . Again a number 1 in England and throughout the world again very successful. The long-awaited second album  Saints & Sinners  appeared in the same period. The band ended the year well by winning a 2nd MTV Europe Music Award. This time for Best Pop.

End of the Group [ Edit ] [ ]

Meanwhile, there were some difficulties arise in the band. The media feasted, and increasingly announced that All Saints would go apart. Nicole and Natalie would ever tangled with Shaznay and Melanie. In late February, early March 2001 announced Shaz, Mel, Nic and wet the end of All Saints as group. Plans for their first world tour were therefore a thing of the past. Their latest single  All Hooked Up  took out around that time no. 7 in England. After the break-up the ladies went their separate ways. Natalie and Nicole  Appleton  made an album under the name but had little success with it. As well as Melanie and Shaznay Lewis, both of whom started a solo career, but could not surpass the success of All Saints.

Reunion [ Edit ] [ ]

On  30 september   2005  the group members were photographed while they are laughing all the London Ivy left, so the feud appeared to be settled. Several times, the media indicated that All Saints had picked up the thread as a band again. However, these messages were never confirmed the members themselves. Until 2006, when it became known that the girls had signed a new record deal with Parlophone Records, part of EMI Music. 6 november 2006, the day when All Saints as band made her comeback with the appearance of the single  Rock Steady . It holds no. 3 in England which was proven that best-before date of the band was still far from being passed. The new album  Studio 1  (the title is a reference to the studio where the girls first met since their break in 2001) appeared on 13 november. Although it is in the British album list disappointing came on no. 40 and in the weeks that followed just sank, remained  Rock Steady  though long in the singles list. For February 2007 the new single  Chick Fit  planned. Eventually, the song was only offered for sale on the internet, making it not reached the charts. At the end of March it was announced that record label Parlophone the All Saints has dumped due to the disappointing sales results. The band gave to the courage not to give up and wanted to record an album with each other again. Finding a record label was not easier. Meanwhile, Melanie Blatt announced that All Saints never will come together as a band. The singer wants to focus on a career in the television world. What the other members are going to do is not known.

All Saints (group)

All Saints are an English girl group formed in London in 1993. [1] They were founded as All Saints 1.9.7.5 by music manager Ron Tom. [2] with members Melanie Blatt , Shaznay Lewis , and Simone Rainford. The group struggled to find commercial success upon being signed to ZTT Records and were dropped by the label shortly after Rainford left the group. In 1996, the group were joined by Canadian sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton and signed to London Records under their shortened name. [3]

1996–1999: all saints, 2000–2001: saints and sinners and break-up, 2006–2008: first reunion and studio 1, 2013–2016: second reunion and red flag, 2017–2022: testament and hiatus, solo careers, discography, awards and nominations, external links.

Part of the 1990s wave of British girl groups, they peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart with debut album All Saints (1997), which became the UK's third-best-selling girl group album of all time to date. The album contained three UK number-one singles: " Never Ever ", " Under the Bridge "/" Lady Marmalade " and " Bootie Call ". "Never Ever" is the third-best-selling girl-group single in the UK, behind the Spice Girls ' " Wannabe " [4] and " Shout Out to My Ex " by Little Mix . [5] It also won two Brit Awards : Best British Single and Best British Video, and the group were nominated for Best British Breakthrough Act. Their second album, Saints & Sinners (2000), became their first UK number-one album and achieved multi-platinum success. It included the UK number-one singles " Pure Shores " and " Black Coffee ". Amid in-fighting among the group members, All Saints split the following year.

The group later reformed after signing to Parlophone Records to release their third album, Studio 1 (2006). However, the album bowed at number 40 in the United Kingdom and All Saints were dropped by their label shortly afterwards. Following a second split in 2009, the group reunited in 2014 for a series of live performances, prompting the group to release of Red Flag (2016), and Testament (2018). As of January 2016, All Saints have sold 12 million records. [6] Musicians including Jessy Lanza [7] and Charli XCX [8] have cited All Saints as an influence on their work. The group's influence on British fashion in the late 1990s has been noted, particularly their signature style of cargo pants in promotional imagery and live appearances. [9] [10]

Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis started their career by singing backing vocals at Sarm West Studios , the ZTT recording studios near All Saints Road, London. In 1993, Blatt, Lewis and Simone Rainford were signed to ZTT Records , and Sugababes music manager Ron Tom decided the trio should become a group. "One of the names was Spice, but we didn't think it was good enough" admitted Simone. Some of the others names they considered included Slinky and Shifty, but ended up calling themselves All Saints 1.9.7.5. after the recording studio and the year of their births. [11] They were launched as a trio for their first time at the Touch Magazine stage at the Notting Hill Carnival . [12] But the problems started when the trio could not decide on what kind of music they wanted to make. They released their first single in 1994, " Silver Shadow ", but it only peaked in the lower regions of the charts. Additionally, Rainford was not getting along very well with the other girls, and subsequently left the group in 1995. After one more release, the remaining duo was dropped by ZTT Records. [11]

Regardless, Blatt and Lewis set out to find a replacement for Rainford. Conducting many auditions, Blatt's father, a taxi driver at the time, met Nicole Appleton in May 1996 whom Blatt knew from her days at the Sylvia Young Theatre School . However, Blatt was too embarrassed to ask Appleton to join the band, so she left it to the normally shy Lewis to ask her. "We gave her the low-down on everything and played her some demos, which she loved", she said. "She sang to me in the bathroom of a restaurant and we knew right away she'd be perfect. I was like, 'Cool! She can join!' And that was that". [11] Nicole's older sister, Natalie Appleton , at first pondered with the idea of becoming the band's manager. However, it seemed natural that she should be a part of it, according to Lewis. Natalie had to be persuaded to join the band, because she did not want to leave her daughter Rachel whilst she was overseas, but her parents stepped in and offered to look after their granddaughter for her. [11]

After forming a new group in May 1996, the four singers met with Karl "K-Gee" Gordon , a former band member of Outlaw Posse . The band began looking for a new record deal, but most record labels wanted to model them after the Spice Girls , who had become an international sensation by that time. The group relocated to London Records , where John Benson finalised the recording deal in November 1996. [13] All Saints recorded their debut album, All Saints , with producers including Gordon, Cameron McVey , Magnus Fiennes , John Benson , Johnny Douglas, and Nellee Hooper .

In mid-1997, the group's debut single " I Know Where It's At " broke them into the mainstream, reaching number four on the UK Singles Chart . Their second single, " Never Ever ", was issued in November 1997 and launched them worldwide, peaking at number one in the UK and Australia. The single sold 1.2   million copies in the UK alone (receiving a double platinum certification from the British Phonographic Industry ) and won the group two BRIT Awards in 1998: Best British Single and Best British Video. The album All Saints was released in October 1997, reached number two on the UK Album Chart , and was BPI-certified five times platinum in the UK for sales of 1.5   million. The third single from the album was the double A-side " Under the Bridge / Lady Marmalade ", which became their second UK number-one single in May 1998, earning a gold certification for 400,000 copies sold. The same month, the album was re-released with a slightly different track listing. " Bootie Call ", the fourth single, also went to number one, and the silver-certified " War of Nerves " (the fifth and final release) peaked at number seven, selling 200,000 copies.

The album achieved success in countries such as Australia ( double platinum , selling 140,000 copies), Canada ( triple platinum , 300,000 copies), and the United States, where All Saints was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of one million and produced two top forty singles on the Billboard Hot 100 : "I Know Where It's At" and "Never Ever". In November 1998, All Saints received the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Breakthrough Artist and performed at the ceremony, although Blatt was absent due to her pregnancy.

In February 2000, All Saints released the single " Pure Shores " as the soundtrack for the film The Beach , written by Shaznay Lewis and William Orbit , with the latter also producing the song. [14] "Pure Shores" became their fourth number-one single in the United Kingdom and the second best-selling single of 2000, with 824,000 copies sold; [15] The song won an Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work. [16] Also in 2000, the Appleton sisters and Blatt made their film debut with Honest , which was directed by former Eurythmics member Dave Stewart . Honest is a black comedy set in Swinging London in the late 1960s, in which the singers playing three saucy streetwise sisters who head "up West" to pursue a life of crime. The film received attention for the Appleton sisters topless scenes. [17] Their performances were widely panned; one critic remarked, "It is the worst kind of rubbish, the kind that makes you angry you have wasted 105 minutes of your life watching it". [18]

In October 2000, All Saints released the single " Black Coffee ", which became their fifth and final number-one single in the United Kingdom, selling 230,000 copies. [19] This preceded the release of their second studio album, Saints & Sinners , which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, eventually reaching double platinum certification in the United Kingdom for sales of more than 600,000 copies. [20] The third and final single was " All Hooked Up " in January 2001, which peaked at number seven. [21] The following month, All Saints announced that they were to take a break so that they "could clear the air between themselves". Melanie Blatt said later that year that it was uncertain if they would reform, citing their difficulties with the financial and business aspects of the group. [22] Shaznay Lewis later explained that the catalyst for the break-up was a disagreement over who would wear a certain jacket for a photoshoot: "I would never in a million years have put money on the group ending over a jacket incident. But when that incident happened, it fired up so strong, it had to be over. And the way I was then, the state we'd got into then, there was no way she was getting that stupid jacket." [23]

In November 2001, London Records released a greatest hits compilation entitled All Hits . It contains the group's hit singles and Blatt's first solo single, " TwentyFourSeven ", a collaboration with Artful Dodger . The album peaked at number eighteen on the UK Albums Chart and was later certified gold, selling 100,000 copies. In 2008, a slightly altered edition of the album was given away for free as part of a promotion with The Mail on Sunday . [24]

On 24 January 2006, it was announced that the band had reformed and signed a record deal with Parlophone . [25] They then began work on their third studio album, Studio 1 . Its first single, " Rock Steady ", released in November 2006, reached number three on the UK Singles Chart. [21] Studio 1 entered the albums chart at number forty, falling significantly short of the success of "Rock Steady" and the group's previous releases; [26] it received a Gold certification by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). [27] A second single, " Chick Fit ", followed in February 2007, but promotional appearances and a physical release were cancelled and it failed to reach the top 200. [28] It was subsequently reported that All Saints and Parlophone had parted ways and the group cancelled their planned UK tour. Blatt discussed the reunion's failure in an interview with i-D magazine in 2012: "I don't think it was done for the right reasons... I know that I did it for the money. We got signed before we had even made music again, it wasn't like we felt we had something to give back to the world... we were given an opportunity and took it, without really thinking about it too hard". She also said she never felt comfortable with the success the band had and that "it was not necessarily the plan at the beginning; there was a lot of compromise involved". [29]

In January 2008, Nicole Appleton and Melanie Blatt served as "hijackers" on E4 's Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack , during which Blatt said that they had a record deal with an undisclosed company in a conversation with housemate Nathan Fagan-Gayle . The following month, in a press release for the Wideboys ' single with Shaznay Lewis, titled "Daddy O", posted on the official website of All Around the World , it was stated that All Saints were recording in the studio and would be back with new material before the end of 2008. In September 2008, All Around the World discredited claims that All Saints had been signed with them with a post at their official website. [30] In 2009, Melanie Blatt told the London Lite in 2009 that "All Saints are never getting back together again". [31] Three months later, a second compilation album called Pure Shores: The Very Best of All Saints , was released. This two-disc collection features the group's hit singles alongside a selection of album tracks and B-sides.

On 25 May 2013, original All Saints member Simone Rainford died from kidney cancer a month after her 38th birthday in her home in Greenwich . [32]

In November 2013, it was announced that the group would be officially reforming for a second time to support the Backstreet Boys for five dates across the UK and Ireland in 2014. [33] The same year, they performed at G-A-Y and V Festival . Blatt said in an interview that the group had no plans to record new material and were "just taking each day as it comes and doing it for pure enjoyment". [34] On 27 January 2016, it was confirmed that All Saints would release their fourth studio album Red Flag on 8 April 2016. The lead single from the album, " One Strike ", preceded the album on 26 February 2016. [35]

On 22 February 2016, All Saints announced their first headlining show in over a decade at London's KOKO . [36] On 15 March 2016, the group announced their first headlining tour in 15 years in support of their 2016 comeback album, Red Flag . [37] The Red Flag Tour would visit 10 British cities throughout October 2016, beginning in Newcastle upon Tyne and ending in Norwich . [38] The group revealed that the tour set list would comprise all of their successful singles as well as some tracks from Red Flag . [39]

Red Flag debuted at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. [40] The group confirmed the second single from the album would be "This Is A War" and third would be "One Woman Man".

On 22 October 2016, it was announced that All Saints will support Take That on their UK & Ireland tour in May and June 2017. [41]

On 19 March 2017, the group confirmed that recording had begun on their fifth studio album. [42] As with their previous albums, Karl "K-Gee" Gordon was involved in the production, [43] as well as William Orbit , who produced "Pure Shores" and "Black Coffee". [44]

On 29 May 2018, the group announced via their official Instagram account the name of their fifth album, Testament , along with its release date of 11 July 2018. [45] The group's first single from the album, titled " Love Lasts Forever ", debuted on BBC Radio 2 on 31 May. [45] The group embarked on a national tour in celebration of the release of the record the same year.

On 14 April 2020, the group released a cover of " Message in a Bottle " with Sting . [46] An "Official Studio Video" was released on 20 April 2020. [47] [48]

Melanie Blatt was the first member to record after the group disbanded. In September 2001, she collaborated with Artful Dodger on the track " TwentyFourSeven ", which peaked at number six in the UK. In February 2002, Blatt replaced Kelis 's vocals on the UK release of the track "I'm Leavin'" by Outsidaz and Rah Digga ; the single reached number 42. Her third single, " Do Me Wrong ", was released in August 2003 through London Records and peaked at number 18. Blatt was dropped by the label due to low sales, and the album she was working on at the time never materialised. In April 2005, Blatt returned to the music industry with a new single, " See Me ", which was included on the Robots film soundtrack and peaked at number 78 in the UK. The single was released through Swollen Ankle Ltd, with whom Blatt began working on an album. During mid-2005, she played small venues in the UK and performed material from the album, which was shelved when All Saints reunited in early 2006. In 2013 and 2015, she was a judge and mentor on The X Factor in New Zealand .

Natalie and Nicole Appleton wrote and recorded their own album, formed the duo Appleton and signed a contract with Polydor Records . In September 2002, the Appleton sisters launched their first single, " Fantasy ", which reached number two in the UK. Their autobiography, Together , was published the following month. Their second single, " Don't Worry ", was released in March 2003 and reached number five in the UK before the release of their first album, Everything's Eventual , the same month. The album peaked at number nine; its final single was " Everything Eventually ", which was released in July 2003 and peaked at number 38. Appleton and Polydor subsequently parted ways.

Shaznay Lewis released her first solo single, " Never Felt Like This Before ", in July 2004; it reached number eight in the UK. Her album Open followed two weeks later via London Records and peaked at number 22, although the second single, " You ", charted only at number 56. In November 2004, Lewis was one of the artists involved in the Band Aid 20 re-recording of " Do They Know It's Christmas? ". In early 2008, Lewis collaborated with Wideboys on the UK top forty hit "Daddy O".

Shocking video shows police firing back at alleged ecu shooting suspect, ecu gunman exchanges gunfire w/ cops on video ... allegedly shot employee, 41 2/29/2024 1:56 pm pt.

Police in North Carolina have taken a man into custody after he allegedly shot a college employee ... and their confrontation with the suspect was all caught on video.

Greenville police officers said the alleged gunman -- identified as 38-year-old Savell Hightower -- was taken into custody after they say he shot an East Carolina University employee outside a local elementary school in what they're currently calling an unprovoked attack.

Police say the alleged victim encountered a man on a bike before that man apparently fired at him at least five times. The 27-year-old ECU employee sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Fast-forward a bit ... and cop cars flying down the street apparently drew the attention of a local citizen who started to film through his windows as a man calmly rode by the house on a bike.

It appears he caught the moment two police cars pulled up with officers hopping out, guns drawn and pointed at the man on the bike. It looks like the cops open fire though it's unclear from the video if the man is firing back -- though police say he did fire at officers.

Somehow, the suspect was reportedly uninjured, and cops say they managed to get him into custody without further incident.

Hightower is reportedly booked on multiple charges, including attempted murder counts, assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Seems like everyone's gonna be just fine from this encounter ... but, certainly a scary situation to say the least.

  • DebbJ 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles Great way to get oriented to Moscow We started our Moscow experience with the hop on hop off. It was a great way to get orientated to the city. The additional optional tours were also good, we did the Metro tour which I highly recommend, we also paid for the Kremlin tour. The hop on hop off has three different lines all included. Only fault was the bus was sometimes full and you had to wait for the next one which was about 15 minutes (in the cold). Read more Written January 6, 2020

  • BeverleyT 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Boat trip - TERRIBLE We got on the bus, but couldn’t buy a 1 day ticket. They suggested we do the 1 hour boat trip and said they would drop us to the dock. 1) they dropped us in the wrong place 2) they were lost because of the marathon Then the boat, after we finally found it: 1) stinking fumes, actually gagging 2) no commentary, in fact, no interaction unless you begged 3) offered us 2 for 1 icecreams as they had melted and refrozen as the fridge gets turned off at night Honestly, we enjoyed the afternoon in the boat but spent all of it laughing at just how awful it was!!! The worst thing in Moscow! Read more Written August 18, 2019
  • niruDurbs 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Not the best value for the price The ticket is quite expensive and covers three different routes in a 24 hour period. The red route is quite exciting and takes about an hour. The bus comes every 10 to 15 minutes. However the other two routes take about two hours each and buses come every 30 to 40 minute period. If the bus is full then you have to wait at the stop for the next bus. So personally I feel that not much can be seen this way. I definitely was not impressed. However it must be noted that one can learn a lot about the history of Moscow Read more Written July 3, 2019
  • IrishCueTravel 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles SLO Motion Not all their fault , but if you plan on trying this Attraction be patient! Traffic is a big problem first and foremost. But to add additional unnecessary delays; the bus stops at each site for 15 minutes at a time or More ! I gave up half way through ( 45 minutes) ; and walked back to the starting point in 10 minutes! • michael g 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Worst hop on/hop off EVER Waited for 40 minutes in the cold rain for a bus that never came... unacceptable. Traffic is so bad that when on a bus the previos day it was barely moving. My advice-get a subway pass and a good travel guide book and do sightseeing on your own! Read more Written October 24, 2018
  • Rebecca J 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Boat element was excellent We purchased a ticket online for the boat and bus for 2 days. The boat element was wonderful, we saw some amazing parts of Moscow along the river side. The bus element was very disappointing as it only started at 10am and was finished by 6:30pm. It was extremely warm when we were there and it would have been great to do the tour in the cool of the day. There was also no air conditioning in the down stairs part of the bus. They also turned away passengers at one of the stops as the bus was full and there was not another bus for 40 minutes. Read more Written September 26, 2018
  • Monismith2014 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles it was very enjoyable it was very interesting seeing things we saw walking around from the bus. so much more to see. we had a lot better view of the attractions from the height of the bus.also the bus was reasonable slow which gave us time enough for photos. it stopped at sparrow hill for 10 minutes for picture taking Read more Written September 20, 2018
  • fati666222 0 contributions 4.0 of 5 bubbles The best way to see Moscow We did both routes but if you have little time then only do the red route. Its very informative and it takes you to the important sights. The staff on the bus are very friendly and helpful. Read more Written August 20, 2018

  • Peter F 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Two Routes There is a short red route which depending on the traffic takes about an hour. The route is generally around the Red Square area. The ear phones were small and sometimes the commentary did not link up with the sites you were seeing. The green bus takes you on a longer route and ours took two and a half hours due to the heavy traffic. I would not recommend this trip unless it is raining or you want to fill in time. The sights we saw were nothing outstanding with plenty of time at certain stops for photos. Also the driver stop for a bite to eat at one stop. Read more Written July 30, 2018
  • Bernardo P 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Boat Trips Moscow, Russia Yesterday, I booked a boat trip with the GetYourGuide.com web page and was totally horrible, didn’t have audio guide as it shows on the picture-Nobody Talk-. The girl on the picture-light blue bag-ask for 100 Rubles for show her the QR Code while I had the Booking and PIN number cause she must see the vessel name-Didn’t say nothing and after she said board any vessel. I suggest take the trip and pay on site, avoid fake internet pages, there are many other services with a lot of entertainment, don’t take this ones. Read more Written July 14, 2018
  • Kathrynowl91 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Good way to see some sites We usually do these tours when we travel. They get you round and you see the sight . The traffic is quite heavy so it is a bit slow but there is not a lot they can do about it. We only did the red route. Just a note people don’t queue here when the bus comes it’s a bit of a free for all. Read more Written July 13, 2018
  • Daniyal91 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Was Ok.! Started our tour of moscow from here, We had got the 2 Day Pass with the boat ride. The route and the map was good but not well managed. The bus didn't stop at many points. Were were unaware a couple of times at what point we were and missed them. Headphones and maps were provided. Would recommend one should check out the route map before going and decide which places to stop in advance, this way one can manage and enjoy the tour more and us it more effectively.! The boat ride was Ok, a little crowded. No guide provided, just a boat ride with restaurant service Read more Written July 12, 2018
  • WilliamDyer 0 contributions 1.0 of 5 bubbles Poor service on boat and too many waiting times on buses For the price, you should expect at minimum English speaking tour guides with decent experience, but at least in my case that did not happen both in buses and boats. And in the boat even tough we were 90% English speaking tourist at least, the tour guide spoke 95% of the time in Russia, and only 3 sentences in English, I really counted how many times she spoke in English. And at the end she asks us if we have any questions? Of course I told her I couldn’t ask her anything since I didn’t understand 95% of what she was saying. The boat tour is not worth it, just take the bus that would be my advice. Second minus is the waiting times, in the boat they made us wait an hour before it departed, and in many stops with the buses waiting times of 20-30 minutes. I actually think I lost that day around 2 hours doing nothing. Be careful. Read more Written July 10, 2018
