Top 5 airlines flying to lisbon.

Flight was delayed. Had to get rebooked. Diamond medallion but stuck in a crappy seat. Rebooked flight then got delayed again. Then when we finally boarded, we waited another hour for a new crew. Then landed in JFK and sat for another 40 minutes waiting for a crew to come to the gate to be able to deplane. Hot mess all around, which unfortunately is becoming the norm for Delta

It was terrible! Two hour delays, poor in flight service, made us check our carry on even though there was plenty of overhead storage

Terrible flight Delayed for over an hour without a reason Told all over head storage was full. It was not. Made to check our bags. What a terrible experience. Fly American.

Older plane and it came with Fleas and flea bites!

My seat was moved closer to the front of the cabin since I had requested wheelchair assistance to the gate.

Rough day of travel all the way around. Wrong info given to us multiple times and mistakes in their booking making our trip 10 hours longer than planned. I’m bummed because I fly Delta all the time and love them. Mistakes happen. Just bummed that this was a rare trip our whole family was traveling together.

Still room for improvement in food and beverage selection: bring back Cognac

Flight was canceled so it was not a great experience. Boarded, then deboarded. Delayed, boarded a new plane then deboarded the 2nd plane and flight was canceled. Then booked a fight to Rome and took a train to Venice the next day. Lost an entire day +

My seat was changed at the last minute and I was moved to the last row, right next to the bathroom despite selecting my seat well in advance. I was also made to check my carry on due to space but when I got on the plane there was significant empty overhead space. Picking up my carry on from the luggage carousel added time to my trip which had already been extended due to delay.

All good on Delta's part. Passengers could be a little more courteous to each other.

Horrible! I paid for a straight flight from Chicago to London. A week before trip it changed and now I had a connecting flight. Our flight was delayed an hour and a half because our flight crew was still flying in from CA. Forty passengers ran from one plane to the next. The next United Airlines flight was delayed two to three hours because of mechanical difficulties. They had to ready another plane which took time. I missed my scheduled excursion in London. 😢

Boarding was efficient. Crew was not pleasant and skipped me during a round of beverage service. Older plane with no seat back screens and I couldn’t connect to wifi or their entertainment offerings.

Lufthansa placed a 300 lb passenger in the aisle seat and I was stuck in the middle leaning sideways with no arm rest or ability to sit up straight and fully use my seat (due to encroachment-the seats are very narrow) the entire flight.

My flight was delayed for a whole day, so I lost a day of my vacation.

I was refused to used the toilet closes to my seat and had to go to the back of the plane .. it was difficult for me I’m a wheelchair customer

East Lounge in Denver was terrible. Turning away active military on orders? Really? Sad.

Miserable. Active military on orders turned away from Lounge because not in uniform. This is completely contrary to United’s online lounge access policy. Sad that employees aren’t trained better. This is not the United Airlines my parents used to regularly fly with.

Was a good flight , well served by the flight attendants. Boarding went smoothly, flight was smooth.

Too many canceled flights and kept my wife and I separated on alternate flights. We did not fly out of Denver. We paid a lot of money for the seats we wanted and now that money is gone and we did not sit together. That being said, the many agents were very friendly and did everything possible to help us.

Terrible Initial delay for almost an hour before boarding and departing in Seattle. Then a “customary” wait on the tarmac in Newark after landing for half an hour. I call it customary because it happens almost every time I land in Newark. I do t know if it’s Newark or United airline but it’s a travesty . I use Newark because it’s closer than jfk to where I live but am strongly considering switching because of extremely poor in time performance and Condé and delay after landing

Do not rebook people without asking .. threw the whole return trip off

Great flight. The captain did a great job of minimizing some minor turbulence and in general it was a smooth flight. Early departure and early arrival at destination. Great service.

It was the worst experience ever. Cabin temperature cold, for which they did not have any blankets upon my asking. We paid $125 extra for each passenger to get extra space sits; the sits were ridiculously small, tight, and uncomfortable! The flight attendant dropped ice on me and my sister! All in all, American Airlines deserves below zero!

Our flight left on time and we arrived a few minutes early. Great service!

It was the coldest flight I have ever been on

My morning PHX to NY flight was canceled. Not a cloud in the sky. No wind. No weather across the country. My guess is they canceled the flight because they didn’t have enough people or a mechanical issue. Either way really bad. I checked it at midnight and the 830a flight was on time so I was very surprised when I woke up to see the flight canceled and I’ve been rebooked on a flight… An hour earlier than my originally scheduled one. Of course I missed this earlier flight because AA texted at 4 AM when I was sleeping. I was re routed to Miami, boarded a plane, sat in the heat for 40 minutes, then boarded because of mechanical issues and had to wait another hour before finally getting to New York Ironically, the 430 Phoenix to New York flight landed at the same time I did… I could’ve been sitting at the pool all day vs jumping through hoops. never ever will I again fly American Airlines. No offer of a free drink, maybe a few points on my advantage account nothing… As if nothing happened and they did not inconvenienced me at all. I’m so sick of the dumb crackers that they give us on these flights. It’s really like a budget Airlines these days. A far fall for s once mighty company.

I got food poisoning - lasted 4 days after starting medications - someone should check with food delivery.

I like the speed of boarding and deplaning and the fact that everything was on time. The crew (attendants) were probably quite new and did not begin the in cabin service until 30 min before landing even though there was little to no air turbulence for the last 1.5 hours of the flight. It made for a mad scramble at the end to get trash collected and carts stowed before touch down.

Our 9:10 am scheduled flight continued to get delayed all day with no information given from the agents as to why. It wasn’t until I went to the customer service desk and got us switched to another flight at 2:44 pm (that wasn’t nonstop like our booked flight) that the agent finally was able to find out it was due to a fuel leak. I don’t know if our original flight ever took off but I don’t find it acceptable to leave people sitting in an airport all day with no explanation.

Horrible airline! They always got something messed up with their planes. 3 hour delayed made us missed both out flights. Had to wake up early in the morning next morning to get another flight!

The flight from MAD to LIS was absolutely horrible since they didn't allow me to board the flight I had paid for. It turns out TAP has a rule hidden deep in their terms of services that if I miss any of the flights in my multi-city plan they will automatically cancel all the remaining flights. I don't know if this is unique to TAP or common practice, but it seems quite ridiculous that I pay for a flight plan and due to unforeseen circumstances miss one leg of that plan that all remaining plan flights be terminated.

The flight was delayed causing me to miss my connecting flight

they canceled the flight. I was at the airport a total of 8 hours. had to fly out the next day. No compensation so far.

They took 8 hours and eventually cancelled the flight. Compensation has been very lackluster and communication has been slow and terrible.

Flew Business with a forced upgrade. dint like how the bidding went . Then at the airport the seat was less than I paid. Not fair The flight crew was great, friendly and very kind. The plane felt like a bucket of bolts. The meal was the worst ever. Ive had better on tap . this was the most disappointing leg of our trip

The flight to Lisbon from Paris was quite pleasant. However, charging several Euros for each item of food left something to be desired. Further, there seemed to be no complimentary drinks, even water.

All of my clothes were completely soaked and wet when I got to my destination. The airline was careless and left my bag on the runway during a rain storm. Very disappointing! On the connecting flight in Lisbon we were made to wait on a bus crammmed in for 20min and standing. Unacceptable Very poor experience and most of my belongings ruined!

It was disappointing to have to pay for soft drinks/ water. The sandwich I wanted was not available. Servig happened to late in the flight.

Not good. Long lines for checkin. Cramped seats. Would only give one tiny cup of water. Had to use people movers. Won’t fly TAP again

45 min late. Priority is not a priority as they put everyone in the same bus a than priority become last.

Access to movies was nice, food not bad, and landing was smooth. Cramming us in like sardines is not fun. A little more space to bend down to get a bag or not touch my neighbors arm because we’re so close would be better for a 9 hour flight. Whomever designed the seating and you, who bought these planes, clearly are NOT interested in customers’ comfort. So stop pretending you do. Also, if you want traveler’s to check their bags so there is space to store carry one, don’t charge so much to check baggage. Seriously?!

The leg room on the plane was the smallest I have encountered in all my travels. Ił only 5’4

We got our seats and was surprised at the half empty plane, so had a very good hostess and we enjoyed the whole flight back home, so the only thing we had to wait for was the passenger assistance that was not there and had to wait about 20 mins on the jetway.

The only issue I had with the flight is that dinner took a long time to come even regardless of the turbulence we experienced. The flight attendants kept disappearing while serving people and kept some people waiting. Which caused them to forget to serve me some tea. It was resolved eventually. Just a small complaint. Maybe there's other reasons but overall the flight wasn't bad.

The check in lady was the best I have seen at JFK she was very nice

The perfect jet stream back saved over 1 hour in the air.

Crew could not even try to accommodate my food request. Phone Charging USB thing was not working.

They cancelled the flight from Dallas to London and rebooked following day causing a lot of pain

Baggage handling was very poor, I didn't get my luggage for 4 day's on way back. Neither a responsible person to answer my call. Kindly see my call log on lost luggage reference no BOMBA41916. all details are recorded. Difficult to convince me to fly once again. Sorry for harsh words.

Every flight was late in arrival, last was late in departure and late in arrival, then lost our luggage!

2,600+ US flights canceled: United, American Airlines resume service after global outage

  • A global IT outage caused delays and cancellations for air passengers around the world.
  • Several U.S. carriers, including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, issued ground stops for all their flights early on Friday due to communication problems.
  • The aviation sector is hit particularly hard due to its sensitivity to timings.

William Sikora III was supposed to fly from Philadelphia to Detroit on Friday morning.

“We are stuck at this airport,” he posted in a video on X at 6 a.m., zooming in on blue airport screens showing system errors. “United, Delta, America, all this stuff is down. People are just sitting here. The apps still say our flight’s on time because they can’t update information in the apps.”

Air passengers around the world faced delays, cancellations and problems checking in as airports and airlines were caught up in a  massive IT outage  that also affected industries ranging from banks to media companies.

Several U.S. carriers, including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, issued ground stops for all their flights early on Friday due to communication problems, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

There were over 2,600 flights canceled and nearly 9,200 delays as of 5 p.m. ET, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware . Most airlines were able to resume operations as the morning progressed, but many said they expected disruptions to continue throughout the day.

More on the outage: Global tech outage grounds flights, hits banks and media businesses

Megan Brown said Washington Dulles Airport was surprisingly calm, even as the airline industry was in turmoil. She said the airport was less crowded than usual, making for a quicker-than-expected security screening, and passengers seemed understanding about the disruptions.

"We just took the gamble and came here, and hopefully we’ll leave today,” Brown told USA TODAY by phone from Dulles. “There’s nothing you can do.”

Her family's 8:25 a.m. ET flight to San Francisco was delayed, but they were able to take off within a couple of hours. "A cheer just erupted as the gate agent said we are going to start boarding," she said.

Around the world, airports and airlines advised customers to arrive earlier than normal for flights.

Around 9 a.m. Sikora posted another video showing fellow travelers sitting on the floor and standing in the middle of a crowded Philadelphia International Airport terminal.

“Everyone is in the same boat. Just wandering and sitting,” he told USA TODAY.

Issues online: Instagram may be the best social app to get your flight issues fixed. Here's why.

The cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike blamed the global tech outage on a defect in an update for Microsoft Windows hosts.

“Today was not a security or cyber incident. Our customers remain fully protected," Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz posted on X . "We understand the gravity of the situation and are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and disruption. We are working with all impacted customers to ensure that systems are back up and they can deliver the services their customers are counting on. As noted earlier , the issue has been identified and a fix has been deployed. There was an issue with a Falcon content update for Windows Hosts."

The aviation sector was hit particularly hard due to its sensitivity to timings. Airlines rely on a closely coordinated schedule often run by air traffic control. Just one delay of a few minutes can throw off a flight schedule for take-offs and landings for an airport and airline for the rest of the day.

"The issue affected many separate systems, such as those used for calculating aircraft weight, checking in customers, and phone systems in our call centers," United Airlines said in a statement. "After pausing all departures overnight, flights resumed on Friday morning and we are working diligently to get our customers to their destinations."

Story continues below.

Are flights still grounded? How long will flight delays last?

"Ground stops and delays will be intermittent at various airports as the airlines work through residual technology issues," the FAA said, adding that it's working closely with airlines to resume normal operations.

Travelers are advised to contact their airlines and monitor the FAA's website for the latest information.

How to find the reason for flight delay

Customers can ask airlines why their flight is canceled or delayed, but the Department of Transportation confirmed that it considers the delays and cancellations caused by Friday's IT outage to be "controllable" by the airlines. While airlines may say they didn't cause the computer error, it means that the DOT will hold them responsible for upholding the commitments they've made to customers when it comes to policies like rebooking or hotel and meal vouchers as the mess gets sorted out. Every airline's policy is outlined on the DOT customer service dashboard.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also tracks causes of delays and cancellations.

Airline waivers

Airlines are doing what they can to provide extra flexibility to those affected by the outage.

  • American issued a waiver for affected travelers covering all of its U.S. hubs.
  • Delta issued a waiver allowing all passengers traveling Friday to rebook their flights.
  • Frontier issued a waiver offering rebooking for travelers whose flights were delayed by more than 3 hours. Customers whose flights were canceled may opt for a refund or credit toward future travel.
  • United issued a waiver for select airports so passengers can make changes if their flights are affected, though a United spokesperson told USA TODAY that nearly all of the airline's flights depart or arrive in one of the airports covered by the waiver.
  • Spirit issued a waiver allowing customers who are booked to fly Friday or Saturday through any airport in its network to change their flights at no additional charge.

What happens if my flight is canceled?

Department of Transportation rules  require all airlines to offer customers a refund if their flights are canceled for any reason, but customers may be entitled to additional compensation if a cancellation is within the airline's control.

What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is experiencing a long delay, the Transportation Department suggests asking airline staff if they will pay for meals or a hotel room.

The DOT dashboard reflects airlines' official policies, but many carriers handle compensation for delays on a case-by-case basis and may provide vouchers or other benefits in some situations that are not formally covered.

What is considered a significant flight delay?

Each airline defines significant delays differently, but the DOT's dashboard identifies which airlines provide compensation for controllable delays of 3 or more hours.

For instance, all major U.S. carriers are supposed to provide a meal voucher for flights delayed by at least 3 hours for reasons within their control. Additionally, Alaska, JetBlue and Southwest offer credit or a travel voucher when a controllable delay "results in passenger waiting for 3 hours or more from the scheduled departure time," according to the dashboard.

How to file compensation for a delayed flight

Travelers seeking monetary compensation for delayed flights should file a claim with their respective airlines. Passengers seeking other types of compensation, like frequent flyer miles, may be able to request those through the airline's customer service.

Pan Am Is Returning to the Skies With a 12-Day Transatlantic Journey

Image may contain Aircraft Airliner Airplane Transportation Vehicle Takeoff and Flight

For many, Pan American World Airways represents our collective nostalgia for the golden age of air travel, when jet-setters were transported around the world in sleek, spacious planes with stylish flight attendants and glamorous meal service.

Some may even go as far to say that the bygone era ended for good on December 4, 1991, when Pan Am’s final flight took off from Bridgetown, Barbados for Miami . A combination of factors had culminated in Pan Am filing for bankruptcy, marking the end of the iconic airline.

But for those looking to relive air travel's glory days, not all hope is lost. Next year, the beloved Pan Am brand will return to the skies with a private 12-day itinerary honoring its most memorable routes.

“Pan Am represents elegance and sophistication and our goal is to emphasize Pan Am’s rich history by combining a modern in-flight experience,” Craig Carter, CEO of Pan American World Airways and owner of Pan Am Brands , tells Condé Nast Traveler .

Dubbed “Tracing the Transatlantic,” the Pan Am commemorative journey will take off on a Boeing 757-200 from New York City on Friday, June 27, 2025, tracing the legendary southern and northern transatlantic routes the airline once flew. First, it will head to Bermuda , before crossing the Atlantic Ocean to Lisbon . The flight will continue hopping through European cities, including Marseille, France; London ; and Foynes, Ireland , before returning to New York on July 9, 2025.

Operated by private aircraft touring company Bartelings and run by affinity group tour specialists Criterion Travel , the trip will be hosted by Carter, who also serves as the custodian of Pan Am’s legacy, bringing along his four decades of experience in the airline industry. Highlights from the itinerary include a night of fado in Lisbon, a Fourth of July celebration in London, and a dinner at Foynes’ Flying Boat Museum with the world’s only Boeing 314 Flying Boat replica.

Along the way, travelers will stay at some of the most exclusive hotels in each city: New York City’s Waldorf Astoria , Bermuda’s Rosewood Bermuda , Lisbon’s Four Seasons Hotel Ritz , London’s The Savoy, and Foynes’ Dromoland Castle Hotel & Country Estate .

Only 50 seats—each of them with lie-flat seating—will be available. Trips are priced at $59,950 per person based on double occupancy and $65,500 for solo travelers, and include all flights, accommodations, a branded swag bag, and most meals and beverages throughout the trip. Spots can be reserved with a $5,000 deposit through Criterion Travel .

The commemorative Pan Am flight will be hosted on a Boeing 757-200 plane with 50 lie-flat seats.

As modern air travel has morphed into more of a pragmatic form of transportation, Pan Am hopes to evoke “a time when travel itself was a glamorous experience, and when the journey was as important and special as the destination," according to its website.

Though the airline with its trademark blue globe logo hasn’t flown the skies for more than three decades, the brand made an indelible mark on the commercial aviation industry and cultural zeitgeist. For those of us who won't be able to partake in the exclusive transatlantic journey, an exhibit honors the legacy of Pan Am at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in Long Island's Garden City,

Carter says that in Asia, they’re already seeing a new generation of customers take to the Pan Am brand, with more than 14 stores in Seoul selling Pam Am merchandise.

“These new loyal customers along with our long-time Pan Am enthusiasts are wanting to engage in new experiences,” he adds. To meet that craving, the brand is also bringing back the Pan Am Experience , a former 747-200 themed restaurant, that is set to open to diners in early 2025 at a location near Los Angeles International Airport.

He also hints that more of Pan Am’s nostalgic routes may soon open up through special travel packages, especially to “destinations that are less commonly serviced."

With the 100th anniversary of the inaugural Pan Am flight—which took off on October 19, 1927—coming up, plans are also in motion to celebrate the historic anniversary with exclusive around-the-world travel packages, Carter says.

According to Linda Freire, a former Pan Am flight attendant and current chair of the Pan Am Museum Foundation, these commemorative Pan Am flights are “a testament to the strength of the brand and what the airline and its people stood for."

A global cyberattack appears to be underway

A widespread Windows failure has brought down the computer systems of emergency services, banks, airports and more.

Windows machines are reportedly failing to boot, following a flawed update pushed out by the cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.

The issue is creating havoc worldwide with reports of:

  • Flights being grounded at airports across the world
  • Online banking services refusing to let customers log in or transact
  • Hospitals and medical services disrupted
  • Broadcasters being forced off air

There are suggestions that some of the problems are being caused by an unrelated outage affecting Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing platform, particularly those affecting air travel. Microsoft claims the Azure issue has now been resolved.

The Down Detector website is showing a sharp uptick in reports of disrupted services, including Microsoft, Visa, Ryanair and many other companies, as shown below:

Down Detector indicates a widespread attack is underway

Troy Hunt, creator of the HaveIBeenPwned website, has also reported on X that he’s seeing widespread reports of Windows PCs suffering from the infamous blue screen of death, where they refuse to boot.

“Something super weird happening right now: just been called by several totally different media outlets in the last few minutes, all with Windows machines suddenly BSoD’ing (Blue Screen of Death),” he posted.

There are reports of the problem striking in the U.S. India, Japan and many other countries around the world. Attempts to log into two U.K. banks this morning have failed. There are also reports of flights being grounded in several airports worldwide.

U.S. emergency service computers have also been affected. Writing on the Hacker News website, one commenter claims: “My entire emergency department got knocked offline by this. Really scary when you have ambulances coming in and are trying to stabilize a heart attack. 911 is down in Oregon too.”

In the U.K., train services are being disrupted by the failure. “We are currently experiencing widespread IT issues across our entire network,” the Southern Railway team posted on X, which is responsible for many of the train services in the south of England.

“We are unable to access driver diagrams at certain locations, leading to potential short-notice cancellations, particularly on the Thameslink and Great Northern networks.”

Sky News was forced off air in the U.K. having also reportedly been hit by the problem, but it has since resumed broadcasting.

CrowdStrike Flaw

CrowdStrike’s CEO George Kurtz acknowledged the problem was caused by his company’s software in a post on X .

“CrowdStrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted,” he wrote. “This is not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. We refer customers to the support portal for the latest updates and will continue to provide complete and continuous updates on our website.

“We further recommend organizations ensure they’re communicating with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels,” he added. “Our team is fully mobilized to ensure the security and stability of CrowdStrike customers.”

Security expert Kevin Beaumont claimed to have seen the flawed update that is believed to have caused the issue. “I have obtained the CrowdStrike driver they pushed via auto update,” he posted on X . “I don't know how it happened, but the file isn't a validly formatted driver and causes Windows to crash every time.”

The problem for companies looking to recover from the attack is that the fix would need to be applied manually on each machine, Beaumont added. It’s not something that can be automated. That could hugely slow down the recovery from this incident.

How to book the exclusive $65K Pan Am flight from NYC to Europe

NEW YORK - Imagine stepping inside a luxury private charter with Frank Sinatra playing in the background, being greeted with a cocktail, and then seated in business class.

Imagine no more--the discontinued airline Pan American World Airways is returning to the skies for the first time in over 30 years.

The airline is offering a 12-day trip from New York City to help fliers "relive the golden days."

The flight will make stops in Bermuda, Lisbon, Portugal, Marseille, France, London, England and Foynes, Ireland.

Pan Am originally went defunct in 1991 after decades of establishing itself as a luxurious flying experience.

The exclusive flight is supposed to be a flash back to its luxury flying style across the Atlantic, stopping on the original transatlantic routes Pan Am took back in the day.

"As we are becoming more accustomed to travel being a commodity, usually a way to get from point A to point B at the most economical price, we offer a reminder of the Golden Age of travel," the airline's website says.

The luxury flying experience includes the following:

  • Expedited customs (avoiding the hassle of public air terminals and commercial flights)
  • Privately chartered all business-class seats
  • Six-course meals and beverages
  • A "swag bag"

The flight takes off from New York City on June 27, 2025 and is limited to 50 passengers.

The all-inclusive rate comes to a whopping $65,500 which includes airfare, accommodations, "most meals and beverages" and a swag bag, the site says.

For couples, the rate is slightly reduced to $59,950.
