50 Cent (born 6 July 1975) – aka Curtis James Jackson III – is a hip hop artist from New York City, US, whose music follows closely to the gangsta rap genre. He has had an ambitious career and has pursued other avenues such as acting and investing.
50 Cent had a rough childhood and grew up being exposed to a lot of things that would shape his musical career. At the age of 12 he was selling crack on the streets and also participated in amateur boxing. After running into trouble with the law at a young age he was sent to correctional boot camp and afterwards changed his outlook on life. At the age of 21 he formed in interest in rapping and in the late ‘90s he met Jam Master Jay from Run – D.M.C., who helped shaped Jackson’s rapping career.
In 2000 he was scheduled to release his album “Power of the Dollar” through Columbia Records, but he was dropped from the album before it was released. Although the album was never released it was heavily bootlegged and the single from the album “How To Rob” became popular in the underground scene and caught the attention of many notable rappers such as Jay-Z, Nas, and Wu-Tang Clan.
After being dropped from Columbia Records and receiving 9 gunshot wounds as the victim in a criminal incident, 50 Cent independently released the compilation album “Guess Who’s Back?” in 2002. The album was received with positive reviews and reached the No. 28 spot on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. The album also caught the ear of Eminem, who introduced him to Dr. Dre and helped him get signed to a record deal.
2003 marked the year that 50 Cent released one of the most lauded albums of the decade, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”. The album was released through Interscope Records and was produced by Eminem and Dr. Dre. The album was known for its dark, funky beats and was loaded with some of the hottest singles of the year including “In da Club” and “21 Questions”. The album reached the No. 1 spot on the US Billboard 200 chart and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. The album is praised by critics and Rolling Stone has labeled it as one of the best albums of the 2000s.
After the success of “Get Rich of Die Tryin’” 50 Cent became the owner of his own record label G-Unit Records and signed the rappers Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo, and Young Buck to the label who were also his partners in the group G-Unit. 50 Cent’s second studio album “The Massacre” came out in 2005 and was also a huge success. The album reached the top of the charts and made 50 Cent the first solo artist to have three singles on the Billboard’s top 5 with the tracks “Candy Shop”, “Disco Inferno”, and “How We Do”.
Apart from music 50 Cent has also delved into an acting career. He has played major roles in the films “Home of the Brave” and “Righteous Kill”, as well as starring in the semi-autobiographical film “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”.
50 Cent is also a persistent live performer and has embarked on multiple tours with a slew of sold out dates. He has shared the bill with many notable performers including Lloyd Banks, Lil B, Jay Rock, Nas and Ludacris. There is no doubt that 50 Cent has already established himself as a legendary musician, which can be conveyed with him having already sold over 30 million albums and winning myriads of awards.
Live reviews
‘Go shorty, it’s your birthday, we gonna party like it’s your birthday’…and wow, did the 50 Cent concert feel like everyone’s birthday!! The vibe, the lights, the crowd, everyone was so enthusiastic and dedicated to the music, as well as the superstar himself, that it felt like a monumental day for every single audience member there.
We were kept waiting for quite a while after the support before he came on stage, but rather than this having a negative effect, it allowed the audience to get really psyched for the main act to start, and by the time he walked out on stage, everyone was going wild. As he walked out on stage, he gave a very humble bow and gesture to the crowd, which made us see how grateful he was for his career.
With such an extensive back catalogue of chart hits, I was just excited to be at the show, but 50 Cent played every song I could’ve wanted, and more! Without a doubt, he is the best rapper I have ever seen perform; well articulated, in time, and enthusiastic. Although you may pay a lot for a ticket, it’s 100% worth every penny, the amount of time he’s on stage and the charisma and enthusiasm he gives every song is simply astounding.

50 Cent, real name Curtis James Jackson III proudly claims on one of his most infamous tracks 'we're gonna party like it's your birthday' and when the rapper performs live he makes good on this statement. With a huge plethora of hits from his vast career and a barrage of dancers, a hype man and slick band he truly delivers the party atmosphere when he steps onto the mic.
Confident as ever, the lights go up on the crowd and 50 steps out onto stage to sounds of huge cheers. For a moment he seems fixed in this moment enjoying the adoration yet once the bass of 'I Get Money' kicks in he is commanding the crowd and running the show at an alarming pace. The huge hit 'P.I.M.P' of 2003 gets the crowd jumping and singing along as Jackson performs this classic piece of hip hop.
Never arrogant, 50 Cent thanks his crowd numerous times and the huge smile that remains on his face throughout the gig shows his enjoyment. He obviously has a lot of older hit singles so despite dismissing 'Candy Shop', he does finish with the ever popular 'In Da Club'.
50 cent walks on to stage with the ease and confidence of the superstar he knows he is. The crowd goes wild at the sight of him, snapback and chains intact. He runs up to the crowd and yells ‘'we're gonna party like it's your birthday'. The crowd goes crazy. A 50 cent concert is everything you imagine it to be, a wild, fun, crazy party. 50 cent really delivers on the party atmosphere he promises, with a whole array of backing dancers that just never stop, flashing lights and strobes. The crowd was fantastic, dancing and singing along throughout. 50 cent opened with ‘In Da Club’, to no one’s surprise but everyone’s delight. 50 cent ran the show, commanding the stage with high energy and awe inspiring confidence. His rapping is phenomenal and although he was dripping with sweat a few songs in, he never seemed to run out of breath or diminish in energy. He sung all his biggest hits including the much anticipated ‘Candy Shop’, ‘P.I.M.P’, ’21 Questions’ and ‘Many Men’.
I'm not the biggest Chris Brown fan, but when I saw 50 Cent I had to get tickets to the show. During the show it was apparent to me when the artists on stage were talking about who was gonna be there no on mentioned 50 Cent. I thought maybe he'd come out of the floor for "Romeo & Juliet" during Chris Brown's set. He never came out, and this really fucking pissed me off because Chris Brown is a pussy bitch that makes music for women and I wasted like 3 hours listening to his shitty music and didn't even get to see 50. After the show I asked some dude working at the Moda Center where 50 was and he said that he cancelled last second. Wasted $200...
My ticket was an in-app purchase and turned out to be invalid!!! So I had to buy a new one there since I traveled a lot and I didn't want to go home without seeing 50 once I was there. The concert was alright maybe a bit loud and sometimes it was hard to understand what he was singing but I knew all the songs... This other thing what made it kind of a bad experience. And even though I try to contact the people about the invalid ticket they don't respond...
Word of advice people, EVENTBRITE don't you even think about buying anything from them!!!
After seeing 50 cent guest appearance at an Eminem concert a couple of months ago I was really excited about 50 having his own concert over in the U.K. and had to book it . The night started off with lethal bizzle and he was great gave the crowd a good show then we waited for 50 and g unit 50 was amazing throughout as were g unit all in all was a great night could ov been longer but still walked away happy would definitely pay to see 50 again no question .
It was billed as the 15 year anniversary of the Get Rich Or Die Trying album so was expecting him to play pretty much every track from it but instead he played 30 seconds of a track and then cut it short. He played more of the Uncle Murda and Tony Yayo songs than those on his own album meant to be for this tour.
He was only on for 55 minutes and the crowd booed at the end. Paid £68 for 55 minutes which is an absolute rip off.
Just went to his concert yesterday in Milan, and it is a must see. The effects, the lights, the backgrounds and the crowd all contribute in making this concert magical. 50 still has an amazing even in his late 40s.
Sound was shocking could barely make out what song was playing who ever organised this should have thought about the amount of people there they could have put more speakers around the place not happy at all
50 cent and Tech N9ne was a bonkers concert, they went off and got the crowd really going, definitely one of the best concerts I've seen!! I hope they come back for hip hop Halloween again
