Tool is getting back on the road. The band announced on Monday (Sept. 27) a massive tour spanning four months to kick off in January 2022.
“It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” drummer Danny Carey said in a statement. “These past 18 months have been trying, to say the least, but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are looking forward to sharing them with you.”
Added frontman Maynard James Keenan, “Let’s finish what we started, shall we?”

The U.S. leg of the tour will begin Jan. 10 at the Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore., where the band — like many others around the world — had to halt its 2020 tour in support of 2019’s long-awaited release Fear Inoculum due to the global coronavirus pandemic. After first delaying the tour in February 2020, Tool elected to scrap it completely a few months later in June.
After three months touring the States, Tool will take a few weeks off before picking up with the European leg, which is slated to begin April 23 in Copenhagen, and ending May 24 in Budapest.
Blonde Redhead will support the Jan. 10-Feb. 10 dates, while The Acid Helps will open the Feb. 19-March 20 shows.
Tool Army members can access presale tickets beginning Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. local time for European dates, and Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. local for U.S. shows. There will also be exclusive packages available during the pre-sale windows. Tickets for all dates go on sale to the general public Friday (Oct. 1) at 10 a.m. local time.

Tool Announce Expansive 2022 Tour
Tool have announced an extensive 2022 tour. The trek will launch at the top of the year on Jan. 10 in Eugene, Ore., and wrap overseas on May 24 in Budapest.
“Let’s finish what we started. Shall we?” singer Maynard James Keenan said in a statement announcing the tour dates. You can see the full list of dates below.
Eugene is the first stop of the upcoming tour because it was scheduled to perform in the city on March 12, 2020 - a show that was canceled along with the rest of the tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” drummer Danny Carey said in a press release. “These past 18 months have been trying, to say the least, but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are genuinely looking forward to sharing them with you.”
Tickets for all dates will be available Oct. 1. Tool Army members can purchase presale tickets for European dates on Sept. 28 and U.S. presale tickets on Sept. 29, as well as a selection of exclusive packages.

TOOL Announces Extensive 2022 Tour
TOOL will hit the road for an extensive tour of U.S., Europe, and the U.K. in 2022, the band announced on Monday.
The lauded hard rock outfit is set to go on tour once again beginning on January 10th at Eugene, OR’s Matthew Knight Arena . The tour will take TOOL to arenas around the U.S. throughout January, February, and March before heading to Europe and the U.K. for shows throughout late April and May. The tour will feature support from Blonde Redhead and The Acid Helps at select dates.
“It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” said Danny Carey . “These past 18 months have been trying to say the least but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are genuinely looking forward to sharing them with you.”
The new batch of 2022 TOOL tour dates effectively replace the band’s planned 2020 tour, which was axed as the coronavirus picture worsened. When the 2020 TOOL tour was canceled , the band noted that it would not attempt to reschedule in 2021 due to the continued uncertainty with regard to COVID-19.
The band dealt with the effects of COVID-19 on a personal level, as well. Keenan reportedly contracted the virus two separate times in 2020—first in February while on tour in support of the band’s highly anticipated new LP, Fear Inoculum , and then again later in the year. Keenan later opened up about his second COVID-19 diagnosis on a February 2021 episode of Apple Music ‘s The Strombo Show , during which he detailed his harrowing experience battling COVID-19 and pneumonia at once.
As Keenan noted simply in a post announcing the 2022 tour, “Let’s finish what we started. Shall we?”
Tickets for all dates go on sale this Friday, October 1st at 10:00 a.m. local time. U.K. and Irish dates will go on sale at 9 a.m. local time.
TOOL Army members can purchase pre-sale tickets for European dates on September 28th at 10 a.m. local time (24-hour pre-sale window), while U.S. pre-sale tickets are available on September 29th at 10 a.m. local time (36-hour pre-sale window). A selection of exclusive packages, which include a pre-sale ticket, will also be made available to TOOL Army members on September 29th at 10 a.m. local time.

Tool is gearing up for another massive world tour to celebrate their 2019 album, Fear Inoculum , and their first stop before heading out across the globe will be in Oregon to help kick off the new year.
Fear Inoculum released may have released two years ago, but this tour will be the first time the band celebrates their new record with live crowds around the world since the global coronavirus pandemic brought most concerts to a halt and shuttered most music venues.
Tool will unfortunately skip Oregon’s largest city, Portland, instead opting to make a stop in Eugene where they will play their first show of 2022 at Matthew Knight Arena on the University of Oregon campus on Jan. 10 . The featured opening band in Eugene will be Blonde Redhead.
How much do tickets cost for the Eugene show?
Tickets for the Eugene stop on Tool’s 2022 Fear Inoculum Tour start at roughly $130 depending on the website you purchase your tickets from.
How much do floor tickets cost? If you want to be as close to the band as possible, floor tickets for the Eugene show are currently selling for $407-$1,038 per ticket .
Tool 2022 tour dates and schedule
Tool will perform over 50 concerts on the tour starting on Jan. 10 in Eugene, with more than 30 concerts scheduled across the United States. The entire schedule, with dates and times, can be found here .
Remember, prices will be different based on tour date and city you choose. If you miss the Eugene show, there are two other stops you can hit in the northwest including a stop at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington on Jan. 11 and a stop at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho on Jan. 13 .

Tool announces extensive 2022 tour.
TOOL has announced an extensive 2022 world tour, outlining headlining dates throughout the U.S., Europe, and U.K.
The hard rock, progressive metal four-piece will hit the road beginning January 10th for an extensive five-month tour. TOOL will kick off their tour at Eugene, OR’s Matthew Knight Arena , circulating throughout arenas before headlining Salt Lake City, UT’s Maverik Center on January 25th. From there, the band will continue throughout the rest of the U.S through March before heading oversees to round out their tour in Europe and the U.K. The tour will feature support from Blonde Redhead and The Acid Helps at select dates.
Watch TOOL’s tour announcement video below.
After a 13 year hiatus, the rock group stunned the world when they released Fear Inoculum in 2019. Of course, the band’s highly anticipated world tour was inevitably canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the band is ready to get back on the road with high spirits, even after vocalist Maynard James Keenan battled COVID-19 not once, but twice in 2020. With the coast looking clear and better every day as the world slowly opens up and recovers from a year lost, Keenan posted alongside the tour announcement, “Let’s finish what we started. Shall we?”
