13/11/2019 by Digital Media

notcutts garden centre visit santa

The countdown to Christmas has begun with Santa set to make his big arrival at Notcutts Wheatcroft Garden Centre on Sunday, November 17. Children will have a chance to see Santa arrive in style by horse and carriage, where he will officially open the garden centre’s magical grotto and celebrate the start of all festive activities at Notcutts this season.

From November 17, children can enjoy a memorable visit to Santa’s enchanted winter grotto at Notcutts, where they will meet Santa himself and receive a special gift. For a truly magical experience this Christmas, children can also join Santa for a fun-filled breakfast or tasty tea in the Notcutts restaurant.

Not forgetting the furry members of the family, Notcutts Wheatcroft on Landmere Lane will once again be opening their grotto to offer a tail-wagging Christmas treat for dogs of all shapes and sizes. On select days throughout the season, owners can take their treasured pets for an exciting Santa Paws visit for festive fuss, with a gift to take home too.

Jon Wilson, general manager at Notcutts Wheatcroft, said: “Christmas is a magical time of year at Notcutts and, while our garden centre is glittering with lights and decorations, we also have a host of festive activities for the whole family to enjoy all season. Starting with Santa’s big arrival on November 17, the free event is a fantastic way to get into the Christmas spirit. We hope lots of local families will head down to Notcutts to celebrate the magic with us.”

Over in the newly refurbished restaurant, Notcutts Wheatcroft will be stirring up a festive feast. Book now for a two or three-course Christmas meal available from Wednesday, November 20. The Christmas menu this year includes traditional classics like roast turkey with all the trimmings, as well as new favourites such as the vegan sweet potato and vegetable tart with polenta pastry, or a chocolate orange tiramisu. For a lighter bite, there will also be a range of seasonal sweet treats, a festive afternoon tea for two or the new hot turkey festive sandwich available to try.

To avoid disappointment, Notcutts recommend booking all festive activities such as their grotto and breakfast or tea with Santa experiences in advance. Christmas meals are advised to be booked in advance. To find out more or to book, visit notcutts.co.uk/christmas-events or call the garden centre on 0115 921 6060 .

“Santa Grotto visit” Review of Notcutts Norwich

I spy bread rolls in an open basket above the serving hatch - making anything passing beneath o

We received an email regarding Santa's visit to Notcutts, we wanted to take our twins to visit Santa, despite being only 8 months old. They really enjoyed the visit and pulling Santa's beard. We saw Santa arrive in the old 1950's bus with the elves and then booked a time slot to visit the grotto. £7.50 each for the visit but they get a gift and they loved the lights in the area before the grotto. We bought a bauble and large photo for £12. If the visit to see Santa was expensive the visit to the garden centre cafe was not, we used our privilege card and received one free cappuccino coffee and used our 2-4-1 for meal, (you receive 3 of these a year). My wife and I both chose the chicken and mushroom pie, which was really good. We managed to find a table with enough room for our double buggy and to get two high chairs around it. We found the restaurant busy but it was quite easy to be seated.

If you read some of the reviews on here about Notcutts please don't let them put you off. I can assure you my husband and myself are pretty picky with our meals and the meals we had today were perfect. Husband had roast beef, steaming hot, plenty of fresh seasonal veg and I had steak/ale pie and the same lovely veg. We asked for extra gravy and it came no trouble. All the staff we dealt with were most polite and helpful.

Notcutts is very local to us, so we popped in today for scones & a hot drink. My daughter fancied the cream tea which consisted of a scone, jam, butter, clotted cream & either a tea or Coffee. She doesn’t drink either so asked if she could swap that out for hot Chocolate & Pay the 20p difference. Guess what “we can’t do that you’ll have to pay an extra £2.70” What a joke, they obviously don’t want repeat business

As a gluten and dairy free customer who can't eat potatoes, it is quite a challenge to dine out. Fortunately the restaurant did a GF steak pasty..... Err it was a pasty (I assume GF) with a miniscule amount of cubed steak and LOTS of chopped potatoes inside. I'd asked for veg only, it came with potatoes, which were unfortunately wasted (I hate to waste food, which is why I always say what I cannot eat) My husband enjoyed his burger even though the texture was a little strange but I'm afraid I was extremely disappointed. I always get a lovely burger with GF sides at Green Pastures on the A146, so perhaps I should have gone there instead!

Two friends and I met up here for lunch. After we had negotiated the chaotic queuing system we all ordered jacket potatoes with various fillings. After ten minutes or more, two meals arrived and they looked fine, generous portions nicely presented. When my own meal hadn't arrived after a further ten minutes I enquired at the till, to the fury of the long line of other customers! I was told to be patient as they were busy. When my meal still hadn't arrived and my two friends had finished theirs, one of them enquired on my behalf. Shortly after I was served the smallest jacket potato I've ever seen with a tiny salad and about a dessert spoonful of coleslaw. This lot was so small it was actually served on a tea plate! When I protested my comments were met with stoney silence and finally asked for my money back. A five pound note and a pound coin were literally slapped on to the table without a single word being spoken. No explanation, no apology, nothing! I wrote to the customer service team nearly a week ago and have yet to receive the courtesy of a response. Needless to say we won't be going back.

“Christmas visit... tea with Santa” Review of Notcutts Wheatcroft

notcutts garden centre visit santa

Disappointing visit to see Santa. Tea was lovely... Santa had a fake beard and didn’t spend time with children. I expected Santa to sit at the tables with the children (having filled a questionnaire about the children).. chat to them. He read a Christmas story which you’d expect he’d know it off by heart. The gifts the children received were poor. Wouldn’t go again for £60...

Went here on a special 'event' and what a mistake that was. The car park was ridiculous and then you run the gauntlet past the salesmen in the entrance!! The garden centre itself was lovely and had some really lovely stuff in it. We attempted to go in the cafe but gave up and carried on shopping. Went back half hour before closing and could get in. Still large queue for coffees with one person serving! Food decimated but it was near closing time so fair enough. You have absolutely no excuse for giving out old chipped crockery. None at all. You should throw it in the bin as it is most unhygienic and completely off putting. I'm struggling to imagine going anywhere near your cafe again. Awful service and awful crockery. But as I said the garden centre is lovely. Bring a flask and sit in the car!

Decided to have a look at Notcutts, Edwalton, Nottingham last Saturday morning. Hardly recognised the area as there is so much building work happening. The garden centres’ car park was very busy but we found a space & entered inside. Christmas was in full swing, Santas singing, reindeer, snowmen & oodles of decorations for the lovely trees. Picked up some plants - beautiful and not too expensive, then decided to have a coffee. The restaurant was quite busy but we really needed a drink so stood in the queue. Have to say there wasn’t much of a system between the cashier & the coffee makers. The girls were busy but several people made comments about having been waiting over 5 minutes! On a better note, the cherry scone was delicious & light. One last thing, the ladies’ toilets need some air filtration system installing. It was really very smelly & not nice when I went in to use the loo!

Just read the new menu, where are the sugar free options! There is now a huge increase in people with diabetes!! Low sugar cakes or fresh fruit bowls would be nice, there are more people with diabetes than there is vegans now

Average fish and chips overcooked batter I have a privilege card and never used the 241 for the last two years. My wife and I visited today for lunch only to find the 241 offer now only runs Monday to Friday as we both work in the week this privilege is now useless. Still we paid full price for the meal the fish inside was ok but the appearance of the very overcooked batter was disappointing I certainly wouldn't pay full price for this again. Why haven't card holders been informed of the changes. That said when we arrived at lunchtime my wife commented on how empty the restaurant was compared to normal. No wonder if that's what they are sending out of the kitchen at the prices they charge:(

I love this garden centre at all times of the year! In the summer it has a great selection of garden plants, seeds, tools and accessories - enough to satisfy the most green fingered yelpers out there. They often do offers on seasonal plants and pots, and reward card holders can also earn money off vouchers. Sign up for the newsletter for even more offers. Over Christmas they have the most amazing selection of Christmas decorations and gifts, as well as real live reindeers to visit! All year round they have a great gift shop, perfect for picking up an unusual present. A great selection of locally produced food, and a great restaurant for refreshment while you shop. I really like it here but always end up spending far more than I should!

Photo of Margaret P.

On Valentines Day my husband, two friends and I had lunch in the restaurant. It was around 12.20. My husband had pasta which was the end of the dish (they had no more even though it was so early) and when he started to eat it found that it was mostly sauce with hardly any pasta. Having people with us we were loath to complain at the time. However my husband wrote a letter of complaint the following day. We received no reply. So a little while afterwards I wrote another letter in which I complained that their level of customer care was very poor. They proved me right by not replying again!+
