Avatar Announce 2023 US Tour with Veil of Maya and Orbit Culture

The Swedish metal band will be out in support of their upcoming album Dance Devil Dance

Swedish metallers Avatar have mapped out a Spring 2023 US tour, featuring support from Veil of Maya and Orbit Culture.

The tour will follow the release of Avatar’s upcoming ninth album, Dance Devil Dance , which arrives on February 17th. The outing begins April 28th in Omaha, Nebraska, and runs through a May 28th show in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania.

Tickets for the tour go on sale to the general public on Friday (January 27th) via Ticketmaster , with a pre-sale beginning Wednesday (January 25th) using the code SOUND . Fans can also pick up tickets via StubHub .

Avatar sets spring 2024 U.S. headline tour, festival appearances

Avatar will return to the United States for a May 2024 headline tour. The run also includes appearances at major festivals, with the band headlining a stage at Sonic Temple—its first-ever headline set at a Danny Wimmer Presents festival.

Oxymorrons and Conquer Divide will serve as support, and tickets will go on sale here Friday, February 16.

Avatar’s latest album, “Dance Devil Dance,” is out now.

Swedish metallers Avatar have mapped out a Spring 2023 US tour, featuring support from Veil of Maya and Orbit Culture.

The tour will follow the release of Avatar’s upcoming ninth album, Dance Devil Dance , which arrives on February 17th. The outing begins April 28th in Omaha, Nebraska, and runs through a May 28th show in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania.

AVATAR 's ninth album, "Dance Devil Dance" , was released in February via Black Waltz Records , distributed by Thirty Tigers .

"Dance Devil Dance" was recorded in the Swedish wilderness, far away from all the perceived glamor of the big city and modern studios. Jay Ruston ( ANTHRAX , MR. BUNGLE , CROBOT , STONE SOUR , AMON AMARTH , URIAH HEEP ) returned as producer. He first worked with AVATAR when he mixed "Hail The Apocalypse" , a role he reprised on "Feathers & Flesh" before taking the wheel as producer on "Avatar Country" and "Hunter Gatherer" .

Last August, Eckerström told TotalRock about AVATAR 's latest LP: "My best thing to liken it to is [ JUDAS PRIEST 's] 'British Steel' in the sense of that… JUDAS PRIEST were always great, and before 'British Steel' you had 'Killing Machine' , you had 'Sad Wings Of Destiny' and all this, but they were a great heavy metal band, a great rock and roll band, a great prog band at times and kind of eclectic. And then with 'British Steel' I find they really got laser focused, cut off the fat. And we're focused on what we feel right now metal needs — this very pompous but yet…

"Honestly, I feel like we have to save heavy metal," he continued. "Because either people are lost in the past… They did it better than we will ever do what they do. Don't do that. What's next? What's next for us? And do that without disappearing up your own asses completely.

"When people end up doing metal that is best enjoyed while sitting down and shutting up, you miss the point," Johannes added. "Metal is the music that you move to — in the pit, banging your head, dancing around, whatever, lifting weights, drinking too much, getting pregnant, impregnating someone, doing things. It's music to move with. You have drums in the band; why would you have drums if you don't move?

"We look a lot to the masters — that is wisdom from MOTÖRHEAD , from JUDAS PRIEST , from a lot of things — but then just… yeah, that, but not that . They did that. We're now and what's next with that. Where can we try to help bring it? And that is this album."

AVATAR enjoyed quite a productive summer last year, traipsing North America on a successful headline tour. They next embarked on some of the biggest shows of the career — a trek with IRON MAIDEN , supporting the band in stadiums in Brazil. AVATAR also played arenas supporting SABATON . They secured slots at major festivals globally — Inkcarceration , Summer Breeze and Bloodstock Open Air , among others.

Surprised my daughter with tickets to their show, 5 hours away in Atlanta, Georgia @Buckhead Theatre, September 13, 2021. We live in North Florida.

Sadly I went to jail last year, and it was very hard on her. No worries, my civil rights were violated, we are gonna be just fine, and famous when this shit breaks.

Anyway, when I got out of jail, I found Feathers & Flesh Book in Europe and ordered it for her with a signed poster, and some trading cards came with it they sent as a bonus.

She thought we were driving like 2 hours away, had no idea where ATL was. They were amazing, as were they're supporting bands also. Had we gotten there a few minutes earlier, we could of gotten right up next to the stage. I was going to ask Johannes to sign her book.

When we get paid off, I promised her a show in Sweden, and I am that mom that always sticks to a pinky promise. The girl got everything she wanted it was her 15th birthday, it was her first concert in person, her favorite band ever, and all the merch she wanted. Shirt, beenie, and patches.

You guys ever come to north Florida before we move, I'll be band mom. I got some cool things for all of you! For helping my girl without even knowing it! Thank you, and can't wait to see you again !

AVATAR as always tore it up and brought down the roof at Terminal 5 stealing the show!

This go around in NYC however they were with shortened set list due to being an opener instead of what they do best headlining. Nonetheless an awesome time was had and I look foreword to seeing them again soon.

The best performance I've seen since alice cooper in the 80 s. I went to salt lake utah then grand junction co then Vegas. Each one was better and better. This band truly enjoys what they do. And they do it to the top level. Truly bad ass!! Already booked September shows tix and hotel.

Avatar Announce Spring 2024 Headline Tour

The heavy metal ‘n’ roll, dark, madcap visionaries collectively known as  AVATAR  — vocalist  Johannes Eckerström , guitarists  Jonas Jarlsby  and T im Öhrström , bassist  Henrik Sandelin , and drummer  John Alfredsson  — will return to the U.S. for a headline tour this May. The trek kicks off on May 8 in Indianapolis and includes appearances at key festivals such as Sonic Temple.

2024 will be quite a year for Avatar! With headline tours in Europe and Latin America announced, and festival dates in the U.S., the band is set to have a monumental start to their year. Europe already has nine sold-out shows, with many others on their way to selling out. Avatar’s first headline tour in Latin America is a milestone in and of itself. The band will headline a Sonic Temple stage this May — their first headline set at a DWP Festival. 

The band’s latest album  Dance Devil Dance  is out now.

AVATAR Announce Spring 2024 Headline Tour

Avatar  — vocalist  Johannes Eckerström , guitarists  Jonas Jarlsby  and T im Öhrström , bassist  Henrik Sandelin , and drummer  John Alfredsson  — will return to the U.S. for a headline tour this May. The trek kicks off on May 8 in Indianapolis and includes appearances at key festivals such as Sonic Temple. 

Oxymorrons and Conquer Divide will serve as support. All dates are below. Tickets go on sale on Friday, February 16. Get tickets  here .

2024 will be quite a year for Avatar ! With headline tours in Europe and Latin America announced, and festival dates in the U.S., the band is set to have a monumental start to their year. Europe already has nine sold-out shows, with many others on their way to selling out.

Avatar ‘s first headline tour in Latin America is a milestone in and of itself. The band will headline a Sonic Temple stage this May — their first headline set at a DWP Festival.

Liam Gallagher wants ‘established acts’ to support Oasis on their reunion tour

Oasis are still to work out which acts will support them on their huge 2025 reunion tour, but frontman Liam Gallagher is apparently keen to give fans the best show possible.

While several reports have claimed various bands are already lined up to open for the British rock band at their shows in London, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh and Manchester, The Independent understands that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have yet to sit down and discuss which artists they want.

However, Liam is said to be eager to bring a few big rock acts on board.

“Liam is keen for established acts so it will probably take a bit of back and forth before anything’s confirmed,” a source close to the band told The Independent.

The source also dismissed reports that Villanelle, the emerging rock band fronted by Liam’s son Gene, have already been booked to support Oasis next year.

“They haven’t even discussed it,” they said, pointing out that Villanelle previously toured with Liam during his 2024 Definitely Maybe anniversary tour .

The Independent understands that Gene wants his band to find success on their own merit.

Other acts rumoured to be in the running are Kasabian , fronted by Liam’s close friend Serge Pizzorno, and Brit Award-nominated, Stockport-formed group Blossoms.

Responding to a fan question about potential support acts this week, Liam appeared to suggest he wasn’t blown away by what was on offer: “Most of them are proper zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,” he wrote.

Oasis announced their long awaited reunion last month, unveiling plans for a major tour that will include multiple dates at London’s Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park in Manchester.

They later said that a further two dates at Wembley had been added for September, after thousands of fans struggled to buy tickets when they first went on sale on 31 August.

In a press release, it was announced on Wednesday (September 4) that a new “invitation-only ballot ticket sale strategy” has been devised for the two new Wembley shows “as a small step towards making amends for the situation”.

“Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster,” the statement adds.

It also promises to be “far smoother for fans by reducing the stress and time it takes to obtain” tickets.

Those who missed out on the tickets last weekend should have now received an email asking them to enter the ballot as well as a new quiz question.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Oasis have topped the charts for the first time in 14 years , as their debut Definitely Maybe makes its return following the reunion announcement.

Released 30 years ago , the record is back at No 1 thanks to the release of its anniversary deluxe edition, which features previously unreleased material including the Monnow Valley sessions, outtakes from the band’s recordings at Sawmills studio in Cornwall, and an alternative demo of “Sad Song”.

According to the Official Albums Chart, Definitely Maybe enjoyed a 408 per cent week-on-week uplift in sales, with more than 50 per cent coming from vinyl sales.

Two other Oasis albums have also entered the Top Five: their 2009 greatest hits compilation Time Flies... 1994-2009, at No 3, and their record-breaking second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? at No 4.

Meanwhile, three of the guitars played by Noel Gallagher during the recording of Definitely Maybe are up for auction at Sotheby’s this week, as part of its inaugural pop culture event.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As reported in USA Today , MoveOn Political Action will kick off a get-out-the-vote “Scoop the Vote” tour on September 16, where they will travel to key swing states and districts in an ice cream truck handing out free ice cream with special guests in their continued efforts to reach and engage voters. Throughout this tour, MoveOn is engaging in various partnerships at the local and national level to increase their impact. They are partnering with Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield , to raffle off free, limited-edition, autographed pints of Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee. MoveOn is also excited to announce they will be collaborating with Jeni Britton , founder of Jeni’s Ice Creams , and Malai Ice Cream in New York City on the tour. 

Following a kickoff event featuring Cohen and Greenfield in Philadelphia on September 16, the start of early voting in Pennsylvania, MoveOn’s Scoop the Vote Tour will include stops in more than 20 cities in battleground states, with rallies held in Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada. In addition to free ice cream and other freebies, the tour will feature elected officials, activists, and other special guests. At each stop, MoveOn will help attendees make a plan to vote by November 5 and show voters how they can help get their friends and family to vote.

“Excitement and joy are on our side right now, but we cannot lose sight of how close this election will be. A few thousand votes will decide whether we live under a democracy with Kamala Harris or a dictatorship with Donald Trump,” said MoveOn Political Action Executive Director Rahna Epting . “MoveOn’s Scoop the Vote Ice Cream Truck Tour will meet voters where they are and help mobilize our communities to defeat Trump once and for all this fall.”

“You can lick and say you care all you want, but if you’re not going for the big scoop— to get registered and vote— at the end of the day, all you’ve got is some drips down your shirt. Go big. Scoop the vote,” said Ben Cohen, activist and co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s.
