Limp Bizkit’s Anger Management Tour

Hot on the heels of its new album's recent million-selling bow, rap-metal noisemakers Limp Bizkit blew into town Tuesday with their "Anger Management Tour" package, which despite its parent-alert name was actually a fairly decent and little-threatening evening of hard rock and hip-hop. Little musical ground was broken, but all four acts delivered the rage, noise, beats and bad attitude that the kids these days can't seem to get enough of.

Limp Bizkit's Anger Management Tour

Hot on the heels of its new album’s recent million-selling bow, rap-metal noisemakers Limp Bizkit blew into town Tuesday with their “ Anger Management Tour” package, which despite its parent-alert name was actually a fairly decent and little-threatening evening of hard rock and hip-hop. Little musical ground was broken, but all four acts delivered the rage, noise, beats and bad attitude that the kids these days can’t seem to get enough of.

Limp took the stage, which was a giant replica of one of those Japanese transformer action toys, with bright flames licking the ceiling and loud fireworks exploding overhead.

Opening number “Hot Dog,” from the band’s recent No. 1 seller “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water” (Flip/Interscope), featured a record-setting use of the “F” word, which the crowd was more than happy to shout back at vocalist Fred Durst.

Popular on Variety

“Show me what you got,” the red-capped front man urged, which earned him his nightly look at the scores of young ladies who lift their shirts for him.

Despite the tour’s scary name, Durst, whose sore throat caused the recent cancellation of a number of shows, wasn’t up to many of his usual provocative tricks. Other than baiting Christina Aguilera (yawn) during the introduction to one song, and criticizing Baha Men for their hit “Who Let the Dogs Out,” he was on what could be described as his best behavior.

Playing their simple fusion of hip-hop, metal and punk that’s come to be known as rapcore, Limp offered a 90-minute set of tracks from their last two hit albums that was short on songcraft and subtlety but packed with plenty of energy and enthusiasm.

The relatively catchy entries “My Generation” and “Rollin’,” from the new album, were the best of the bunch, though most of the tunes tended to blend into one big rumble.

Rapper Xzibit, who opened the show with a 20-minute set, joined Fred and Limp Bizkit during their encore for the song “Getcha Groove On.”

Second-billed rapper Eminem was his usually foul-mouthed self, racing about the large stage and calling out all his enemies. He started his hour-plus set by repeating numerous times the phrase “don’t fuck with me,” and later told a story of how the cops had tried to get him to admit to some crime that, of course, he hadn’t committed. An appearance by singer Dido for a pleasant version of the hit single “Stan” made up for much of the rest of Em’s tired shtick.

Generic hard-rockers Papa Roach also played, but registered as little more than unpleasant noise. One or two catchy tracks couldn’t make up for their utter lack of creativity.

The tour hit the L.A. Forum on Friday, with Limp Bizkit, Godsmack, and DMX on the bill.

Eminem - The Anger Management Tour

Where to watch

Eminem - the anger management tour.

Directed by D.J. Viola

The inaugural Anger Management Tour was founded and started in the fall 2000 by Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, and after the release of The Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem. Originally targeted at both rap and rock fans, the first "Anger Management" outing took place in 2000. It had two separate legs. The second tour took place in the summer of 2002. Eminem told LAUNCH, "It's basically the same thing that it was the last Anger Management Tour without Limp Bizkit...Papa Roach are still cool though."[citation needed] The third tour took place in the summer of 2005. 50 Cent missed the tour's first two stops because of a scheduling conflict; he was tied up shooting his film debut. Ludacris filled in on those dates. The European part of the tour was cut short due to the exhaustion of tour founder Eminem and his addiction to sleeping pills.

Anger Management Tour

The Anger Management Tour was a rap and rock music tour, founded and started in the fall of 2000 by Limp Bizkit , Papa Roach and, after the release of The Marshall Mathers LP , Eminem .

The first "Anger Management" outing took place in 2000. The tour began two days after the release of Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water on October 19, 2000. On the first leg Limp Bizkit and Eminem co-headlined with support from D12, Papa Roach and Xzibit. They played through November 21, 2000. Three dates were cancelled on October 24 (which got rescheduled for December 11), November 3 and 15 - in lieu of either Fred Durst 's voice or what other issues occurred during the tour.

The second leg occurred from November 24 till December 19, 2000 with support from DMX , Godsmack and Sinnistar in tow. Limp Bizkit finished the leg as headliners as it was the only Anger Management tour where Eminem did not finish, and instead, Limp Bizkit headlined over him. In this leg, three further dates were cancelled on November 26 and December 13 and 14. Rapper DMX missed four shows on the tour including a stop on December 17, where there was an issue and had to cancel his performance.

The other acts continued the tour and on December 19, 2000, during the final show at Limp Bizkit's hometown in Jacksonville , Florida, DMX came out to perform an acapella sing-along to one of Limp Bizkit's songs during their set. Finally, at the end of the night, DMX gave a prayer to the audience, saying he will do better for the Lord and himself. During the concert at some point during Limp's set some fans stormed Limp Bizkit's tour bus and took all the band members clothes. Despite this, the tour ended on a high-note for Limp Bizkit, who were leading the charge of the Nu Metal wave at the time and had enjoyed great and tremendous success during this era.

The tour was supported by the acts' then-recent album releases which included Infest by Papa Roach and finally, Xzibit's soon-to-be released major label debut, Restless in December of that year. Both Eminem and Limp Bizkit had album releases they were supporting on this tour that had sold over a million copies in their first week.

Anger Management 2001 took place in Europe with Eminem headlining the first leg in February with support from OutKast, Xzibit and D12. Guest artists like Dr. Dre , Dido and Marilyn Manson appeared at select dates.

Limp Bizkit and Godsmack would finish the second leg during May and June 2001.

Eminem would headline future editions going forward.

The second tour took place in the summer of 2002. Eminem said "It's basically the same thing that it was the last Anger Management Tour without Limp Bizkit... Papa Roach are still cool though." Headlined by Eminem with support from Papa Roach, Ludacris, Xzibit, X-Ecutioners and Bionic Jive. The tour ran from July 18 to September 8, lasting 32 dates.

Anger Management 2003 took place in Japan and Europe with support from 50 Cent, Cypress Hill, D12, Xzibit and Obie Trice. During a stop in Milton Keynes, UK, fans grew restless and agitated at the prolonged 'stage changeovers' between artists and threw bottles of liquid (alcohol, water, and urine) at the stage. [ citation needed ] It was the last rock inclusion of the tour with Cypress Hill playing a mix of rap rock along with their hip hop tracks during their run of the tour.

The third tour took place in the summer of 2005. 50 Cent missed the tour's first two stops because of a scheduling conflict; he was tied up shooting his film debut. Ludacris filled in on those dates. [ citation needed ]

Eminem photographed by David McFarlane whilst he performs at the SkyDome stadium (now known as the Rogers Centre) in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on October 26, 2000 as part of the Anger Management Tour.

Additionally photographed in concert is Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, who were also on the line-up for the tour, with special guests Papa Roach and Xzibit.

(Via CNN—October 26, 2000): Canadian officials say they're trying to find a way to prevent rap star Eminem, a Michigan native, from performing at the SkyDome in Toronto on Thursday night.

Ontario Attorney General Jim Flaherty says he's reacting to complaints that Eminem's lyrics promote violence against women, and has put government lawyers and federal immigration officials on the case.

He plans to go on with the show, despite the controversy.

"Eminem's plan is to entertain his fans," says spokesman Dennis Dennehy, "and people who don't like it don't have to go."

Eleven Angry Men Vent in New Jersey

By Pat Charles

Pat Charles

It’s a good thing Limp Bizkit aren’t touring under the “Family Values” banner anymore. Sometimes it’s better to skip the nudge and wink and call things straight — hence the no-bullshit moniker for this year’s model, the Anger Management Tour . Consider the line-up: West Coast battle-rapper Xzibit, who was abused as a child; Papa Roach, who sing heartfelt, noisy anthems of teen suicide and broken homes; and Limp’s co-headliner Eminem , whose venomous raps about his estranged mother and his now-estranged wife have landed him in the courtroom.

Needless to say, there was more than enough anger to go around for the sold-out crowd at the tour’s opening night at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J. Just how much of it the crowd could actually manage was another story.

The first blast of rage came from Xzibit, whose gravel-like vocals moved stealthily yet forcefully to the grittiest of beats. Although the rapper spent less than half an hour venting his deadly diatribes on stage, it gave everyone a firsthand glimpse of the darkness waiting to be unveiled come December when his new album drops.

Papa Roach’s high-voltage set, which was almost as short as Xzibit’s, was diluted by cluttered sound. Coby Dick’s agonized outcries had trouble breaking free from the distorted acoustics that were blasted by his bandmates. But when the group sounded off with the anthemic “Last Resort,” the crowd completely took over, helping boost the troubled set.

When both the floor and the seats swelled up with a sea of red baseball caps and fake Slim Shadys, the arena was at capacity for the remainder of the night. After a Blair Witch -meets-Slim Shady video was played to introduce Eminem’s set, the curtains dropped and Marshall Mathers appeared on stage sporting overalls, holding a chainsaw, wearing a white hockey mask and standing in front of a wooden house and a yard. When he pulled his mask off, the cheers rose to ear-splitting levels; Eminem greeted them with “I’m Back” and the audience chanted the chorus aloud and in unison. Slim’s partner-in-rhyme Proof shuffled across the stage with him, as the DJ dropped the beats from the house’s cracked-open rooftop.

Editor’s picks

The 100 best tv episodes of all time, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, 25 most influential creators of 2024.

As Em and Proof swaggered from east to west, Eminem pointed at the house and said, “This is the house I grew up in. I’m gonna invite some friends to come out and play.” On that note, his group D-12 stormed out the shack’s front door to perform the moronically infectious “Under the Influence” and their belligerent new single, “I’ll Shit on You.” Spraying unlimited vulgarities and ranting with a synergetic aura, D-12 did the impossible: They showed that Eminem is not alone in his dangerously off-the-tracks train of thought. They even did a quick a cappella spoof of ‘N Sync’s “Tearing Up My Heart” (“It’s tearing up my ass when I’m with you!”).

When D-12 took a break, Eminem invited English songstress Dido out on stage to duet on the heart-wrenching rap ballad “Stan.” But the tempo was a major deceleration from what D-12 ignited just moments before, and it took awhile to adjust to the change in pace. It didn’t go unnoticed that Eminem sang every verse in “Stan” except for the last one, wherein the sensitive-guy within him responds to the namesake’s letter. His mood tonight was more along the lines with the following song, “I Just Don’t Give a Fuck.”

Surprisingly, Eminem didn’t bring any Christina Aguilera or ICP blow-up dolls on stage, but he still had plenty to say about someone else. “How many faggots in here like Whitey Ford?” he asked the crowd. “If you like Whitey Ford, I want y’all to take the dicks out of your asses and wave them in the air! That mothafucka dissed me on an album, so I dissed him back.” The crowd’s faint cheer, however, sounded more like a mockery than applause. And although heads began bobbing in synch to the potent “Drug Ballad” and the groove-laden “Cum On Everybody,” there wasn’t much excitement when Eminem urged the crowd between beats to chant “Take them drugs!” Credit the crowd this much: By the time his two-hour set was over, most everyone seemed to have a grasp on the difference between ill and sick.

T.i., tiny win whopping $71 million award at omg girlz trial, the new ‘matlock’ is the russian doll of reboots, sean combs' history of controversies and allegations.

But there was still one more drill. The appetite for some Chocolate Starfish and Hot Dog Flavored Water was evident, and Limp Bizkit seemed to be the ones cheesy enough to deliver it. On the heels of a heavily anticipated album release and armed with a larger-than-life robot as a stage, Fred and company waltzed out before charging into a monstrous set, sounded off by his ode to Trent Reznor, “Hot Dog.” Aside from some new material, which included his hip-hop collaboration with Xzibit (“Getcha Groove On”), the new stage design and a group of dancing Bizkettes surrounding him during a couple of numbers, Durst led the audience through the same old flashy routine. Although he took no stabs at Creed frontman Scott Stapp this time, Durst too spit venom. “Christina Aguilera is a fucking bitch!” he exclaimed, dedicating one of his hate songs to her. “I did her a fucking favor and she turned around and started talkin’ shit,” he continued before referring to her as a “fuckin’ whore.”

History of Tambov

Foundation of tambov.

Tambov was founded on a hill at the confluence of the Tsna and Studenets rivers as one of the southern strongholds of the Tsardom of Russia in 1636. The garrison of the fortress was over 1,000 soldiers. At that time, a number of fortresses and fortifications were founded to protect the southern borders of Russia from the raids of the Crimean Tatars and Nogais.

According to one of the versions, the original name of the fortress was written as “Tonbov” and was associated with the alleged construction site of the fortress opposite the Mordovian village of Tonbov. Although the fortress was eventually founded elsewhere, it retained its original name. The root of the word is most likely of Moksha origin (“tonbov” - a whirlpool).

At the end of the 17th century, Tambov became one of the gathering points of the Russian troops that took part in the Azov campaigns aimed at capturing the Turkish fortress of Azov to gain access to the Sea of Azov. The failure of the first campaign forced Peter I to take measures for the fastest construction of the Russian navy. Tambov timber was used to build the first Russian fleet.

More Historical Facts…

Tambov in the 18th-19th centuries

At the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, a garrison school for soldiers was opened - the first educational institution in Tambov. In the first half of the 18th century, there was still a threat of raids from the steppes of the Lower Volga and Kuban regions. In 1738, the Tambov fortress was rebuilt after a fire destroyed the old one.

In 1779, the Tambov Viceroyalty was established with the center in Tambov. It was significantly larger than today’s Tambov Oblast and included parts of Mordovia, Lipetsk, Voronezh, Penza, and Ryazan regions. Tambov then resembled a large village: wooden houses with thatched roofs, streets without pavements, vegetable gardens. After it received the status of an administrative center, its rapid development began.

In 1781, the coat of arms of Tambov was approved with an image of a golden hive and three bees on a blue-green field. The beehive and bees reflected one of the flourishing local crafts of that time - bee-keeping. Meadow herbs and linden forests became the reason for the special taste and healing powers of Tambov honey. The bee is also a traditional symbol of hard work, order, fertility, and abundance.

In December 1785, Gavriil Derzhavin, a famous Russian poet and statesman of the 18th century, was appointed the governor of the Tambov Viceroyalty. This had a significant impact on the development of Tambov. In 1796, the Tambov Viceroyalty became the Tambov Governorate.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the Tambov Governorate became one of the main breadbaskets of the Russian Empire. The population of Tambov exceeded 10 thousand people. During the Patriotic War of 1812 (the French invasion of Russia), at the expense of the local population, a people’s militia of 12 thousand people was formed and armed. When the French approached Moscow, refugees from the nearby towns began to arrive in Tambov. Large parties of captured enemy soldiers and officers also arrived here.

In 1824, the first gymnasium was opened in Tambov. In December 1833, a public library was opened. In the 1840s, there were 45 streets in Tambov, 2,332 private houses (69 stone houses), 12 taverns, 3 hotels, 20 drinking houses, 7 shops of fashionable clothes and haberdashery. The Tambov Governorate experienced industrial growth. In 1872, Tambov had about 25 thousand residents, in 1897 - more than 48 thousand people, in 1910 - 68,400 people.

Tambov in the 20th century

In 1920-1921, the headquarters for the suppression of the peasant uprising, known in history as the Tambov Rebellion, was located in Tambov. It was one of the largest peasant uprisings against the power of the Bolsheviks during the Civil War in Russia. In the post-revolutionary years, the rapid development of industry began in Tambov. First of all, these were enterprises for the production of cloth and yarn.

In 1928, the Tambov Governorate was included in the Central Black Earth Oblast. In 1937, a separate Tambov Oblast was formed, which included the territory of the present Penza and Tambov regions. In 1939, Tambov Oblast received its present borders.

In the 1920s-1930s, the composition of the population of Tambov changed noticeably. In fact, the city lost most of the pre-revolutionary social estates. People from the villages replaced them. In the late 1930s, construction of residential buildings, industrial and cultural facilities was resumed in Tambov.

During the Second World War, Tambov twice became a de facto front-line city: in November-December 1941, when the German units were located between Yelets and Lipetsk, and in the second half of 1942, when the front line passed through Voronezh.

The proximity of the front did not allow industrial enterprises to be evacuated to Tambov from the western regions of the country, but for the same reason Tambov was filled with evacuation hospitals. Most often seriously wounded soldiers were delivered here in mass numbers. A lot of them died of their wounds and were buried in Tambov, which explains the presence of large military graves at the Vozdvizhenskoye cemetery of the city.

In the post-war period, Tambov, which had not experienced the destruction associated with the battles, for several years remained aloof from the large-scale construction that took place in the Soviet cities destroyed by the war. However, industry began to grow rapidly. Tambov became one of the main centers of chemical engineering.

In 1965, the city was divided into 3 districts: Oktyabrsky, Leninsky, and Sovetsky. The 1970s-1980s were the peak of Tambov’s prosperity. In 1986, the population reached 300,000 people. At the same time, the 350th anniversary of the city was celebrated.

Tambov - Features

The chemical industry and mechanical engineering are well developed in Tambov. However, it is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in Russia. This is largely due to less street traffic compared to other cities. Tambov is a fairly green city with several parks and public gardens. The City Day of Tambov is celebrated on June 12.

The climate is moderately continental. The average temperature of the coldest month (February) is about minus 8 degrees Celsius, the warmest (July) - about plus 21 degrees Celsius. Winter is moderately cold and comes in December. Summers are long and warm.

Tambov is divided into three administrative districts: Sovetsky, Oktyabrsky, and Leninsky. The largest streets in the city are Sovetskaya and Karl Marx streets. Urban transport is represented by trolleybuses, buses, minibuses and taxis.

The city is located on the federal highway R22 “Caspian” Moscow - Astrakhan. Travel time to Moscow by car is about 6 hours. Tambov Airport offers regular flights to St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, and Sochi.

It is believed that the catch phrase “The Tambov wolf is your comrade”, which is very common in Russia, was first heard in the film “The Rumyantsev Case” (1955). Today, the Tambov wolf has become the same recognizable symbol of Tambov as gingerbread for Tula or brides for Ivanovo. The Tambov wolf in the city can be found on T-shirts, magnets, calendars, plates, mugs, vodka, and other souvenirs. At the entrance to the city, there is a monument to the Tambov wolf, and in the city itself there is a museum of the wolf.

Tambov, unlike many other cities in Russia, was never captured during wars. This helped to preserve most of the historical center, including the old houses of ordinary townspeople, merchants, and landowners. Most of the streets of the old town have buildings of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Main Attractions of Tambov

Monuments to the Tambov wolf . There are two monuments to the famous Tambov wolf in the city - at the entrance to Tambov from Penza on Rasskazovskoye Highway and on the territory of “Hotel” (Oktyabrskaya Street, 95b).

The inscription says: “The Tambov wolf is a reliable comrade.” The second monument is a figure of a wolf lying on a mountain and personifying calmness, confidence, and hospitality. The following inscription is engraved on the monument: “When you give joy to people, the Tambov wolf is your comrade!”

Gorkogo Street, 3.

Ascension Convent - a historical and cultural monument of regional significance. Its bright and picturesque churches are considered the most beautiful churches in the Tambov region. The main Cathedral of the Ascension resembles a fairytale house. Moskovskaya Street, 37.

Tambov Regional Picture Gallery - the largest art museum in Tambov and Tambov Oblast. Today, the gallery has three departments: Russian art of the 18th century, Russian art of the 19th - early 20th century, Western European art of the 16th-19th centuries. In total, the collection has more than 5 thousand works of art; several hundred are exhibited in the halls. Sovetskaya Street, 97.

Park of Culture and Rest - the main park of Tambov located in the very center of the city, between Sovetskaya Street and the Tsna River canal. On the territory of the park there are rides, cafes, a dance floor, and a Ferris wheel. A suspended pedestrian bridge leads from the park to the opposite bank of the river.
