Important information for buying tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan:

Our goal is to maximize the number of fans who have an opportunity to shop.

The link in your text will direct you to the show you were selected for — either a show that was available during registration or a show that was announced after registration closed.

If you were selected for a show available during registration, your code will enable you to shop  that  show  or any show in the same city  that was announced after registration closed. (You will not be able to shop a different show that was available during registration).

If you were selected for a show announced after registration closed — i.e., the link in your text directs you to one of those shows — your code is good for that show. We recommend you use the code for that show as it will have the greatest availability for you. If you choose, you can use your code instead for the show you prioritized first during registration; however, we expect demand for that show to be higher and your wait to be longer.

Remember, each code only allows you to purchase 6 tickets.

No. Only fans who have been verified and invited to shop by receiving an access code will have the opportunity to purchase tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan.

Receiving an access code means that you’ll have the opportunity to shop for tickets. However, the ability to purchase tickets is determined by supply and demand, and is not guaranteed. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.

If selected, fans will also receive a text message to the phone number provided during registration. This text will include a unique access code and a link to shop. Keep an eye out for this text and be careful not to accidentally delete it.

The Waiting Room will open 30 minutes before the sale begins. You may only join the Waiting Room using the same Ticketmaster Account that you registered with.

  • Please only join the Waiting Room once and only use one tab per show to reduce any delays.
  • Once you join the Waiting Room, do not close your page.

I got an email telling me that I’m on the Waitlist, what does that mean?

Due to extremely high demand, not all fans who register may be invited to purchase tickets during the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan. Should additional tickets become available, a select number of registered fans may be randomly selected to move off the waitlist. If this happens, you will be notified via text message.

Yes. The General Public On-Sale will be Friday, November 18 at 10AM local venue time.

Why do I see tickets available to purchase on another site before the TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan has even happened?

Many unofficial sellers will list tickets before they even go on sale. This practice is called speculative listing and fans should not trust resellers claiming to have tickets. Those speculative listings are not real tickets in hand. Beware of these sellers. Learn more about speculative tickets here .

Will there be VIP packages available for the tour?

A limited number of VIP Packages + Tickets may be available at time of purchase. Check your event page for any VIP details.

What are the health check requirements?

In the best interest of fans and staff, the event organizers are monitoring local COVID-19 trends and will meet or exceed protocols mandated by local governments and local venues. By purchasing tickets to this event, you agree to abide by the health and safety measures in effect at the time of the event, which may include, but not be limited to, wearing masks, providing proof of vaccination & booster status and/or providing proof of negative COVID-19 test. Check back often for updates to your event venue website as guidelines are subject to change.

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour Onsale Explained

ticketmaster statement logo

W e strive to make ticket buying as easy as possible for fans, but that hasn’t been the case for many people trying to buy tickets for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. First, we want to apologize to Taylor and all of her fans – especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets. Next, we feel we owe it to everyone to share some information to help explain what happened:

We Knew a Record Number Of Fans Wanted Tickets to Taylor’s Tour

  • By requiring registrations, Verified Fan is designed to help manage high demand shows – identifying real humans and weeding out bots. Keeping bots out of queues and avoiding overcrowding helps to make wait times shorter and onsales smoother.
  • Based on fan interest at registration we knew this would be big. Over 3.5 million people pre-registered for TaylorSwiftTix Presale powered by Verified Fan, which is the largest registration in history.
  • Historically, around 40% of invited fans actually show up and buy tickets, and most purchase an average of 3 tickets. Around 1.5 million people were sent codes to join the onsale for all 52 show dates, including the 47 sold by Ticketmaster.
  • The remaining 2 million Verified Fans were placed on a waiting list on the small chance that tickets might still be available after those who received codes had shopped.

The Demand for Tickets to Taylor’s Tour Broke Records – & Parts Of Our Website

  • Historically, we’ve been able to manage huge volume coming into the site to shop for tickets, so those with Verified Fan codes have a smooth shopping process. However, this time the staggering number of bot attacks as well as fans who didn’t have codes drove unprecedented traffic on our site, resulting in 3.5 billion total system requests – 4x our previous peak.
  • We handle onsales for countless top tours, some of the biggest sporting events, and more.  Never before has a Verified Fan onsale sparked so much attention – or traffic. This disrupted the predictability and reliability that is the hallmark of our Verified Fan platform. Here’s a look at how that traffic compared to every other day on our site this year:

Taylor swift the eras tour average traffic map

  • It usually takes us about an hour to sell through a stadium show, but we slowed down some sales and pushed back others to stabilize the systems. The trade off was longer wait times in queue for some fans.
  • Overall, we estimate about 15% of interactions across the site experienced issues, and that’s 15% too many, including passcode validation errors that caused fans to lose tickets they had carted.

Despite the Disruptions a New Sales Records Was Set

  • Over 2 million tickets were sold on Ticketmaster for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour on Nov. 15 – the most tickets ever sold for an artist in a single day.
  • All 2 million tickets for the Verified Fan onsale were sold to Verified Fans. Only ticket buyers who were verified were permitted to enter a queue. Verification is tied to a user’s account and validated at login, which is why users only had to login to enter the queue. For additional security, ticket buyers also had to enter their unique code to complete their purchase. No one who wasn’t verified was allowed to enter the queue, but the huge traffic hitting the site overall meant we had to slow down queues to keep them stable.
  • 2.4 million tickets have been sold for the tour overall across onsales for Verified Fans and Capital One cardholders, on both Ticketmaster and SeatGeek.
  • Less than 5% of the tickets for the tour have been sold or posted for resale on the secondary market. Onsales that don’t use Verified Fan typically see 20-30% of inventory end up on secondary markets.

The biggest venues and artists turn to us because we have the leading ticketing technology in the world – that doesn’t mean it’s perfect, and clearly for Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour onsale it wasn’t. But we’re always working to improve the ticket buying experience. Especially for high demand onsales, which continue to test new limits.

We’re working to shore up our tech for the new bar that has been set by demand for the Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour. Once we get through that, if there are any next steps, updates will be shared accordingly.

Even when a high demand onsale goes flawlessly from a tech perspective, many fans are left empty handed. For example: based on the volume of traffic to our site, Taylor would need to perform over 900 stadium shows (almost 20x the number of shows she is doing)
that’s a stadium show every single night for the next 2.5 years. While it’s impossible for everyone to get tickets to these shows, we know we can do more to improve the experience and that’s what we’re focused on.

Ticketmaster is the world’s largest ticket marketplace and the global market leader in live event ticketing products and services. Through official partnerships with thousands of venues, artists, sports teams, festivals, performing arts centers and theaters, Ticketmaster processes 500 million tickets per year across 30+ different countries. Ticketmaster is a part of Live Nation Entertainment (NYSE: LYV).

Taylor Swift

All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Billboard may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes.

Taylor Swift ‘s The Eras Tour is taking over Europe ! After breaking records with The Tortured Poets Department , dropping the Eras Tour movie on Disney+ earlier this year; and taking her heavily anticipated tour to Australia and Asia , the singer is continuing on the European leg of the tour.

Trending on Billboard

Swift kicked off at the European leg at Paris La Defense Arena in Nanterre, France, on May 9.

The “Anti-Hero” singer will return to North America to perform in the U.S. and Canada — including New Orleans, Toronto and Miami — beginning this fall . Swifties got a chance to score presale tickets through Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program last summer .

Swiftie Forever: The Cutest Taylor-Swift Inspired Necklaces Available on Amazon

The Eras Tour , Swift’s first tour in five years, was announced in November 2022. Presale tickets for the tour went on sale via Ticketmaster that month. Another batch of presale tickets for her 2024 tour stops in Vancouver and new tickets for Australia and Sweden went on sale late last year.

Swift partnered with Capital One on exclusive tickets available for Capital One cardholders. As can be expected, passes to see Swift live remain one of the hottest concert tickets on the market, so we’re breaking down what you need to know so you can secure a seat.

See below for information on how to get last-minute tickets to international stops on Swift’s Eras Tour. Check out the new list of tour dates here .

How Much Do Last-Minute Eras Tour Tickets Cost?

Resale tickets for The Eras Tour are currently available online for concerts in the U.K., Austria, Poland and other locations.

How much are last-minute tickets? There’s more than one way to score Eras Tour tickets, but expect to spend at least a few hundred bucks on a ticket, depending on the seats and date of the show.

Swift is slated to perform at National Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 1 though Saturday, Aug. 3 . Tickets are scarce and selling fast — especially in the last hour (more than 11,000 people were looking at tickets when we last checked). The Eras Tour has stopped in Spain, Sweden, Portugal and Japan and will continue to Austria, Poland, the U.K. and more countries before circling back to the U.S.

Tickets for the North American leg are currently available at StubHub , Vivid Seats and Seat Geek , although pricing usually range from around $600 and up, demand is high, so most of the tickets are currently priced over $1,000 at StubHub and other ticket sites. For fans who want to catch Swift’s opening night in Miami on October 18 , tickets prices are currently spiking to more than $2,100 .

Looking for the cheapest tickets ? Searching different sites will give you a better chance of landing tickets at a lower price point, but we did some of the digging for you.

At press time, tickets to the shows in Poland start at around $115 , although some of the in-demand tickets are priced well above $500 at StubHub , which is around the same prices that you might find on sites such as Ticketsmarter and TicketNetwork . To score a discount, use code BB2024 and save $20 off purchases of $200 or more at Vivid Seats . Used code BILLBOARD150 to save $150 off $300 or more and code BILLBOARD300 to save #$300 off $1,000 or more at TicketNetwork .

The Eras Tour is a celebration of all 10 of the studio albums Swift has released since 2006. The massively successful tour has raked in over $1 billion . But with the launch of a new album era, Swift has been incorporating Tortured Poets into the tour for a section dubbed, “Female Rage: The Musical.”

“I wanted to tell you something that I’ve been so excited about for a really long time. I’ve been planning for ages and I finally get to tell you: I’m going back on tour,” Swift said on  GMA , announcing the news. “The tour is called the Eras tour and it’s a journey through all of the musical eras of my career.”

Taylor Swift Profile

Taylor Swift is one of the biggest pop superstars in the world. She is known for her albums Red, 1989, and Reputation, each spawning multiple hits and selling millions of copies.

Reputation is one of her most popular albums of all time, released on November 10, 2017, and it sold over 1 million copies in the first week despite not being available on any online streaming services. It contained the singles “Look What You Made Me Do”, “..Ready For It”, “Endgame”, “New Year’s Day” and “Delicate”.

Taylor Swift has always been able to capture headlines with her catchy pop music, mostly centered around her relationships and breakups with many high profile celebrities over the years.

Taylor Swift’s latest 7th album was titled “Lover” and it contained the singles “Me!”, “You Need to Calm Down”, and “Lover”. It has a more upbeat and positive vibe compared to Swift’s last album, which many have attributed to her relationship with Joe Alwyn.

Taylor had huge plans to tour for the Lover album in 2020 before the pandemic broke out. That caused her to cancel her plans and instead release two studio albums: Folklore and Evermore. In addition, she started re-releasing music from her catalogue which she did not own the right to anymore.

Taylor Swift’s 10th album is called Midnights.

How to get presale access to Taylor Swift's 'The Eras Tour' tickets

Madison Blancaflor

Editor's Note

Presale ticket access to Taylor Swift's new tour kicks off on Tuesday, Nov. 15. But if you check your emails and don't receive confirmation of your Verified Fan presale access code for 10 a.m., there's still hope of getting presale tickets if you have the right credit card.

Taylor Swift announced her 2023 tour earlier this month after her newest album "Midnights" broke multiple records on Spotify and Billboard. "The Eras Tour" is a big moment for Taylor Swift fans — it's her first tour since before the pandemic and the setlist will cover six albums total. She also has some fantastic supporting artists going on tour with her, including Paramore, HAIM and Phoebe Bridgers. A few fan-favorite songs have even been confirmed as part of the setlist, such as "All Too Well (10-Minute Version)."

Tickets to "The Eras Tour" won't go on sale to the general public until Nov. 18, and many Swifties are worried about the probability of snagging a ticket outside of the Verified Fan presale through Ticketmaster. This is in part because ticket prices have been preannounced and prices are relatively affordable — tickets will start at just $49.

Luckily, you don't need to be a mastermind to score tickets. Those who bought tickets for her "Lover Fest" tour (which had to be canceled during the pandemic) and those with Verified Fan presale access will receive earlier access to presale tickets starting at 10 a.m. local venue time on Tuesday. In addition, having the right credit card will still get you presale access starting at 2 p.m. local venue time on Nov. 16 thanks to Capital One Presale .

What is the Capital One cardholder Taylor Swift presale?

Great news for all Capital One cardholders: If you have an eligible Capital One credit or debit card, you'll have access to presale tickets starting Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. local venue time. A range of ticket options will be available during this presale (including premium options), and there is no selection process or special invite needed aside from your card.

All Capital One Visa or Mastercard credit or debit cardholders are eligible for this presale, but private label cards are not eligible.

Here are the steps for getting presale access with your Capital One card:

  • On Nov. 16 just before 2 p.m. local venue time (or anytime throughout the presale window), head to this page and select the concert date and venue you want. That will send you to the Ticketmaster page, where tickets will go live promptly at 2 p.m. local venue time.
  • When asked for the presale code, use the first six digits of your Capital One card.
  • Depending on demand when you log in, you'll be put into a queue to wait for your turn to buy tickets. Do not refresh your page once you get to the queue page.
  • You can select up to six tickets via this presale while supplies last (which means you'll want to grab tickets as early as possible in case they sell out).
  • Once you have your tickets, you must check out using your Capital One card.

What if you don't have a Capital One credit card already? The terms and conditions on the landing page for "The Eras Tour" Capital One presale says, "The Capital One Cardholder Presale is for existing Capital One cardholders. New applicants that have recently applied and have yet to receive card information are not eligible if a new card is received post the Cardholder Pre-sale window or after presale tickets have sold out."

Long story short, this, unfortunately, means that anyone who doesn't already have their Capital One card by now will be excluded from this presale.

However, if you're a regular concertgoer, it might be worth it to look into which cards could get you presale access to future events. For example, eligible American Express cardholders got presale access to Harry Styles "Love on Tour" earlier this year. You can check out our post on how your cards can help you unlock VIP events or learn which cards are best for entertainment purchases (such as concert tickets).

Tips for the Capital One Taylor Swift presale

If you've ever attempted to get highly-sought after concert tickets from Ticketmaster, you know it can feel a bit like the great war navigating the waiting room, queue and then ticket sale process. Having a Capital One credit card for access is only half the battle.

Here are some tips for snagging your tickets without a glitch:

Add your card to your Ticketmaster account in advance

Many people know all too well that almost nothing is worse than logging into a presale event, snagging a place early in the queue, selecting amazing tickets ... and then hitting an error message when trying to load your credit card information.

The best way to avoid this (while also saving time) is to log in early and add the Capital One card you plan to use to access the presale and pay for your tickets as the default payment method on your account. This way, you won't need to input your card details in the moment and Ticketmaster will have your details on file for a faster purchasing experience.

Sign in to Ticketmaster early

The Capital One presale starts at 2 p.m. local venue time (meaning if you live in L.A. and you want to snag concert tickets for Philidelphia, that presale will start at 11 a.m. PT), but you'll want to log into Ticketmaster and navigate to the ticket page at least 30 minutes in advance.

For the Verified Fan presale, participants are usually invited to a "waiting room" up to 30 minutes in advance of tickets going live, which then secures their place in line for the queue. While credit card presale access doesn't always follow that same process, being logged in early and keeping the page up and running while you wait will ensure you do get a spot in the waiting room if there is one.

And even if there isn't a waiting room with this presale, it'll make sure everything is good to go with your account and that you're ready to refresh into the queue as soon as the clock strikes 2 p.m. local venue time.

Check your Wi-Fi

A strong Wi-Fi connection is everything when trying to snag tickets during a competitive presale. The faster your device loads, the better your chances and securing and early slot in the queue and getting the best tickets possible. If you have a friend with stronger Wi-Fi than you, now is the time to ask to crash their couch during the presale event.

If you're on your phone, you might be tempted to forgo Wi-Fi altogether, but if you do have access to a strong Wi-Fi connection, it's better to use that over 4G or 5G service that may lag at an inopportune time.

Memorize your presale code and have your card nearby

Before you are able to buy tickets, Ticketmaster will ask for a "presale code." For this presale, that code is the first 6 digits of your Capital One credit card.

It's not a bad idea to memorize those digits ahead of time for easy entry, but you'll also want to have your card ready to go as you pull up tickets in case you forget the numbers or need to verify your CVV (that 3-digit number on the back of your card).

Consider going mobile

The Verified Fan presale emails recommended hopeful presale ticket buyers to use a deskop rather than the mobile app. However, there is anecdotal evidence that Ticketmaster prioritizes mobile app users over desktop users. While Ticketmaster hasn't confirmed this and there is no hard proof, it's worth considering using your phone instead of a desktop to snag tickets if there's a potential you'll get in faster.

On the other hand, if you have the Rakuten shopping portal plugin, Ticketmaster is often a vendor where you can get additional rewards when shopping through the portal. While I do have Rakuten, I'm personally choosing to prioritize speed over additional rewards — especially since I'll get 2 miles per dollar with my Venture X on my purchase.

Know when to refresh your page (and when not to)

This is a big one. Knowing when to hit refresh and when to have patience can be the difference between getting ticket access in minutes versus hours.

If you are asked to join a waiting room prior to presale access:

Once you are in a waiting room, that automatically puts you in line for the queue. On a desktop, you won't need to refresh your page right at 2 p.m. in order to be moved to the queue page. If you're on mobile, you will need to refresh your screen (don't exit out of the app, simply pull down on the screen for it to reload) for it to send you to the queue.

If there is not a waiting room ahead of tickets going live at 2 p.m. local venue time:

This is where it becomes a race to reload. If there is no waiting room, you're going to want to keep a very close eye on the clock (as in, find a clock with a seconds countdown) leading up to the 2 p.m. start time for the presale.

Starting around 10 seconds before the clock flips to 2 p.m. local venue time, start refreshing your page until you secure your spot in the queue.

Once you are in the queue:

Stay, stay, stay. If your screen has a walking figure on it indicating you are in line for the queue, do not refresh your page. I repeat: Once you're in the queue, do not refresh your page.

Below is an example of what the queue page will look like. Though it's from the Verified Fan presale queue, the Capital One presale queue will look very similar.

the eras tour pre sale

When you refresh while in the queue, Ticketmaster will boot you to the end of the line and you'll be forced to begin again.

Once you're in the queue, the only time you should ever reload your page is if prompted by a Ticketmaster error message on your screen that requests you reload your page and try again. Otherwise, trust the process and know that while it might take a while, you are in line and will be prompted to get tickets when it's your turn.

Beware of will call if using someone else's card

If you are using a parent, spouse or friend's card to score tickets, keep in mind that Ticketmaster may end up giving you will-call tickets. Will-call means you'll have to pick up the tickets in person at the box office of the venue the day of the concert — and the person whose name is on the card you used will have to be present with a photo ID and the card itself.

This could be an issue if you (and the person whose name is on the card) live in Arkansas but the concert you are attending is in Nashville, TN, for example.

Of course, you could end up breezing through and getting e-tickets that don't require an in-person pick-up (my little sister has used my card for Harry Styles presale tickets in the past and been just fine). But it's something to keep a lookout for when buying tickets.

Which Capital One card should you use for 'The Eras Tour' presale?

the eras tour pre sale

If you have multiple Capital One cards, you might be wondering which card is the best to use on concert ticket purchases.

Your highest cash-back potential comes with the Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card . You'll get 4% cash back on entertainment purchases — including concert tickets. Alternatively, there's also the no-annual-fee Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card , which earns 3% cash back on entertainment.

The information for the Capital One Savor card has been collected independently by The Points Guy. The card details on this page have not been reviewed or provided by the card issuer.

However, if you're a frequent traveler who prioritizes travel rewards over cash back, you should use either the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card . They'll each earn 2 miles per dollar spent on your ticket purchase.

After you grab your tickets, also keep in mind that the Venture X also earns 10 miles per dollar spent on hotels and rental cars, and 5 miles per dollar spent on flights booked through the Capital One Travel portal — a solid earning option if you're traveling to one of the concert venues.

Of course, you don't have to have one of these specific cards to get presale access — any Capital One credit or debit card (excluding private label cards) is eligible for access.

Bottom line

For a lot of fans — myself included — Taylor Swift music has been a mainstay throughout the majority of our lives. I first listened to her when "Tim McGraw" made its radio debut, and I've remained a fan throughout every album since. This tour is the culmination of years of new albums and re-releases, a tour bigger than the whole sky for many fellow Swifties. So, getting tickets is likely to be a competitive labyrinth.

If you weren't the lucky one selected for Verified Fan presale but are a Capital One cardholder, you'll still be able to get presale ticket access to "The Eras Tour."

Remember, presale tickets go live Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. local venue time for Capital One cardholders. Set your clocks and get ready to jump then fall so you can get your tickets for the best day.

Until then, you can find me listening to "Midnights" on repeat.

What does it mean if you were waitlisted for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour tickets?

Taylor Swift added a batch of dates to her Eras Tour in North America in 2024 and fans are already virtually lining up to score tickets.

Ticketmaster asked fans to register online by Nov. 2 for the chance to purchase tickets to three British Columbia shows at face value in the Eras Tour Verified Onsale. On Nov. 8, Swifties learned via email whether or not they were selected to participate in the sale, which begins Nov. 9.

Taylor Swift

In an email to those lucky enough to get the pre-sale code, Ticketmaster said they would be receiving that code before the sale begins. But to a number of other hopeful buyers, they received an email saying they were on the waitlist for the Eras Tour Verified Onsale.

Here's what it means to be on the Ticketmaster waitlist

Those with a code to participate in the Eras Tour Verified Onsale will have a chance to purchase tickets in cities they pre-selected. Ticketmaster emphasized in their emails that having a code does not guarantee you will get a ticket, and that "due to the high demand, we expect all tickets to be purchased during the Verified Fan Onsale."

However, if any tickets do remain after the initial sale is complete, Ticketmaster said it will begin notifying those on the waitlist that they can enter the sale for a chance to buy tickets.

What initially happened when Ticketmaster held a sale for Taylor Swift tickets in the United States

Ticketmaster famously fumbled the initial ticket sales of Swift's U.S. tour, with many waiting in a virtual queue for the early sale for hours, sometimes to end up with nothing .

In a post on Nov. 19, 2022 , the company said that the initial Verified Fan pre-sale had been plagued by a "staggering number of bot attacks as well as fans who didn’t have codes." The result was an "unprecedented" 3.5 billion total system requests, Ticketmaster reported — four times the company's previous peak.

“We want to apologize to Taylor and all of her fans — especially those who had a terrible experience trying to purchase tickets,” the seller said in a statement at the time.

The company seems to be trying to prevent more subterfuge this time around, saying in the waitlisted email that the unique access codes cannot be purchased or transferred and will only work with the account to which it was assigned.

Fans have banded together since the first round of ticket sales to try to help other Swifties secure tickets and avoid the steep secondary market prices. (For context, tickets to Swift's Aug. 9 show in Los Angeles are going for a minimum of $864 each for essentially behind the stage and as high as $3,386 for floor seats on StubHub, as of the evening of Aug. 8.)

A woman who founded the TS Fandom Fund , a Tumblr collective that seeks to address economic inequality among the Swift fandom, told the New York Time s in March that those working to help other fans get tickets were fueled by altruistic enthusiasm.

“We want Taylor to look out and see people who actually know the words to these songs, and we want to be surrounded by the people who make up our community, not just randoms,” she told the newspaper.

Swift wrapped up the first U.S. leg of her tour in Los Angeles after performing a total of six sold-out shows at Sofi Stadium in Inglewood.

She then headed to Mexico to begin a set of  international dates  that will take her to South America, Asia, Australia and Europe through 2024 before she returns to North America.

How much will Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour tickets be? Where to get The Eras Tour pre-sale codes? What cities will Taylor play in? Here's what we know...

Listen to this article

Taylor Swift ? Going on tour? The rumours ARE true. The Eras Tour IS happening. And we're all about to be filing for bankruptcy after fighting to get our hands on those tickets.

In case you haven't heard, Taylor confirmed that she is set to tour after the release of her tenth studio album Midnights . So far, Taylor's official channels have only confirmed that she will be touring the US and the UK, but worldwide dates will be announced soon.

Taylor's last tour was way back in 2018 when she took Reputation on the road. She was then scheduled to tour her Lover album with a series of Lover Fest shows in 2020, but had to cancel due to the pandemic.

That means she's now got a whopping FOUR new albums ( Lover , Folklore, Evermore, Midnights ) and two re-recorded albums ( Fearless TV and Red TV ) that have yet to be toured.

Fans have been desperate to see the made-up Folklovermore tour happen, but now we've got The Eras Tour to look forward to. Here's everything we know about the tour so far, including tour dates, tour stops, potential ticket prices, where to find pre-sale codes and everything in between.

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour: Everything we know so far...

The Eras Tour dates: When is Taylor Swift going on tour in 2023?

So far, Taylor has only confirmed tour dates for the US leg of The Eras Tour. She'll start her US shows in late March 2023, and play through to early August 2023.

As for the UK tour dates? We're still waiting for confirmation on those. Based on her tweet, Taylor will tour the UK and Europe after the US leg. Other international tour dates will also follow.

Back in 2019, Taylor explained to Zane Lowe why she couldn't commit to a worldwide Lover stadium tour : "I’ve got some pretty intense things happening with my family right now. I can’t go on long tours and not have the ability to go home if I need to. I have priorities that aren’t just touring now, and [the fans] have been really respectful of that in the past."

Bookmark this page – we'll update with more info as soon as it's announced.

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour pre-sale codes: How to find a pre-sale code for your country

In the UK, fans were able to get a pre-sale code when they pre-ordered the Midnights album from Taylor's official UK store . The window to secure those codes has now closed, but more codes will no doubt be announced once the UK dates are confirmed.

For fans in the US, there's several ways in which you can get a pre-sale code for the tour. First, you can get a pre-sale code through the Capital One exclusive cardholder pre-sale .

  • To get into the pre-sale, you'll need to a) be a Capital One cardholder, and b) visit Taylor Swift's official events page on November 15th at 2PM (LOCAL VENUE TIME) to buy tickets with that Capital One card. (You'll need the first 6 digits of your Capital One card to gain access to the pre-sale.)
  • Fans can also gain access to the Ticketmaster Verified Fan pre-sale. You'll need to register on your Ticketmaster account BEFORE Wednesday, November 9 @ 11:59PM ET and you will then receive an email confirmation with details on what to expect next.

No other pre-sale codes have been announced yet. So if you live outside of the UK and the US, keep your eyes peeled and notifications on for Taylor and Taylor Nation's accounts.

Tickets will go on sale after Taylor has revealed the tour dates and locations. Ticket sale dates will also be announced in advance. Fans will have plenty of time to prepare and get ready to buy their tickets.

Taylor Swift 2023 tour locations: What cities will Taylor play in?

Taylor has confirmed that The Eras Tour will be an international tour, but so far, only the US leg locations have been announced.

On the US leg, Taylor will be stopping in 20 cities across the country, with 27 shows announced so far. Here's the full list so far:

  • Glendale, AZ
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • Arlington, TX
  • Houston, TX
  • Nashville, TN
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Philadelphia, PA
  • Foxborough, MA
  • East Rutherford, NJ
  • Chicago, IL
  • Detroit, MI
  • Pittsburgh, PA
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Cincinatti, OH
  • Kansas City, MO
  • Seattle, WA
  • Santa Clara, CA
  • Los Angeles, CA

Taylor's Lover Fest tour was scheduled to have festival dates in Europe (Belgium, Germany, Norway, UK, Denmark, Poland, France, Spain and Portugal. UK's Glastonbury was also included in those dates), South America (Brazil) and North America (Atlanta, Los Angeles and Foxborough).

In contrast, Taylor's record breaking Rep tour had 53 shows, with Taylor visiting the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

Thanks to her announcement, we know for sure that Taylor will be touring in the UK. As for what cities? We'll have to wait for the announcement to know more about where Taylor will be playing outside of the US.

The Eras Tour ticket prices: How much will the tickets to Taylor Swift's tour be?

Until the tickets start to go on sale, we won't know exactly how much it'll cost for pit standing, standard standing or seated admission.

Fans have been sharing information about how much they've paid in the past for her stadium shows. Prices for her upcoming tour will probably not be the same, but could be a similar price depending on the location.

But with Ticketmaster's controversial Platinum ticket feature that saw Harry Styles fans end up paying extortionate amounts for his upcoming shows, the most in-demand tickets at Taylor's shows could end up being more expensive than ever.

That said, we'll just have to wait and see! Better start saving up now, Swifties!

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour setlist: What songs will she play?

Taylor has confirmed that The Eras Tour is a "a journey through the musical eras of my career (past & present!)" With 10 albums and hundreds of bops, bangers and ballads to choose from, the setlist for the The Eras Tour is going to be incredible.

Taylor will no doubt include a handful of songs from her latest album Midnights , as well as songs that have yet to be performed in a tour setting from Folklore, Evermore and Lover . (Fingers crossed for a live performance of 'Cruel Summer'!!!)

In terms of her re-recorded albums, tracks from Fearless (Taylor's Version) and Red (Taylor's Version) will also likely make the set list.

It's unclear when Taylor will be releasing any more re-recorded albums, and if they'll be released by the time she sets off on tour. Both 1989 (Taylor's Version) and Speak Now (Taylor's Version) have been teased through easter eggs and on Taylor's website. But it is possible that Taylor could perform several of her old songs that she has not yet officially re-released.

Just like on the Reputation tour, Taylor could also perform a surprise song at each of the dates.

Taylor Swift reveals jam-packed schedule for Midnights release

Will Taylor Swift headline Glastonbury in 2023?

Taylor was scheduled to perform at the iconic festival in 2020 alongside fellow headliners Kendrick Lamar and Paul McCartney. However, she declined to keep her headline slot when the festival was rescheduled to 2022.

Speculation that she'll finally be back on the line-up for 2023 has circulated on the internet but given that she has not yet released her own versions of her Taylor Swift, Speak Now, 1989 and Reputation albums, it's possible that she might hold off until she finally owns all of her songs and albums.

That said, the current US leg schedule does leave a cheeky gap for her to POTENTIALLY (!) perform on the Pyramid Stage on Friday 23rd June... before travelling back to the US to continue the tour in Minneapolis on the 24th.

Only time will tell if she does! If we all start manifesting now, it'll eventually come true. (And if not this year, fingers crossed for 2024!)

Taylor Swift is officially hitting the road again.

On Tuesday, the 32-year-old Grammy winner announced the U.S. dates of her upcoming tour following the release of her 10th studio album, Midnights , which recently dropped on Oct. 21.

"I'm enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour , a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!)," Swift wrote on social media alongside her announcement.

Swift added, "The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!"

She went on to reveal the dates of the tour in her posts on Twitter and Instagram. The festivities will kick off March 18, 2023, in Glendale, Arizona, and wrap Aug. 5, 2023, in Los Angeles.

"Feeling like the luckiest person alive because I get to take these brilliant artists out on tour with me: @paramore , @radvxz , @phoebebridgers , @girlinred , @whereismuna , @haimtheband , @gracieabrams , @gayle and @owennmusic ," Swift said.

She concluded, "I can't WAIT to see your gorgeous faces out there. It's been a long time coming 🥰."

Swift's announcement comes days after she teased a tour just around the corner , following the record-breaking release of Midnights .

"We will sometime soonish. It's going to happen," the "Bejeweled" singer-songwriter said when asked by host Graham Norton on his show, adding, "We will do it and it will be great."

Swift also said she is "thrilled" over the fan response following her album drop the previous week.

"But I do think it's a little accusatory when people say I broke Spotify," she joked about smashing the record for most-streamed album in one day . "It was my gorgeous fans that broke Spotify!"

Fans who hope to snag tickets early can register through Ticketmaster's Verified Fan Program now through Nov. 9 at 11:59 p.m. ET, according to a release. Those who receive a code will be able to purchase tickets through a presale beginning Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. local venue time.

A Capital One cardholder presale will also be held starting the same day, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. local venue time, through Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. local venue time, or while supplies last.

Long road to Taylor Swift: Dad (really) tried to get tickets. A year later, I saw ‘Eras Tour’ with Mom

Taylor swift ‘eras tour,’ the second leg, kicks off in miami, florida, in october 2024..

Editor’s note: In May 2023, Nick Pugliese, sports editor at The Palm Beach Post, attempted the ultimate #DadOfTheYear task: Show up at the Atlanta stadium with his daughter on the night of Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert there
and hope to buy two last-minute tickets. (Insert hopeful heartbeats here.)

Alas, there were none available, and while the night turned out to be an unforgettable father-daughter experience, complete with a TikTok Taylor Swift concert hack video from the Puglieses with more than 15,000 views, Victoria Pugliese struck gold a year later: She (finally) saw a Taylor Swift “Eras Tour” concert in Amsterdam — with her mom.

Below is Victoria Pugliese’s play-by-play of Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert in Amsterdam in July 2024, a love letter to Swifties from a Swiftie. It’s also a testament to what parents will do to give their kids “The Best Day.”

AMSTERDAM — Thirteen seconds left on the clock and that’s when it hit me: This is it, I made it.

Standing in the Johan Cruijff Arena with my mom and 68,000 other fans surrounding us, I watched the numbers count down on the screen until the clock hit zero. Screams filled my ears as tears began rolling down my face, the show just starting.

Now “the show” is an understatement for what we were about to witness. This was going to be life-changing for me, with months of planning and wishing finally coming to fruition.

Of course, I am referring to Taylor Swift ’s “The Eras Tour .”

Over the next three and a half hours, we would be hearing various songs from all of Swift’s albums (well almost all
sorry, “Debut”), all accompanied by fan chants and loud cheering. From her radio singles to the fan favorites, there would be something in the show for everyone. And I would sing and dance along during every ... single ... minute.

Hearing the words “It’s been a long time coming” during the opening number hit me hard. Like so many other Swifties, I was among the many fans who were waitlisted for the first leg of the U.S. tour dates. I desperately tried to find tickets for her Tampa shows and even flew up to Atlanta with my dad to see if we could get tickets, but had no luck.

More: How hard is it to see Taylor Swift concert? Ticket sites beat us, but TikTok hack helped

When the international shows were announced in July 2023, I applied for the Verified Fan process for several cities, including Dublin, London, and Amsterdam. Out of the seven I registered for, the latter was the only city I was chosen for during the presale.

So I got the tickets, almost an entire year in advance, to the second night of her shows in Amsterdam.

Nervous waiting in the hours leading up to Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' concert in Amsterdam

The day of the show, I couldn’t do anything. Shortly after waking up, I quickly filled out my Mastermind entry on Swift Alert for the show but that was it. We checked into our hotel within walking distance of the stadium and I just sat in the room, trying to process what was happening, where I was, and what I’d be experiencing later.

I was in an outfit inspired by “Ivy,” one of my favorite songs from her album, “Evermore.” My mom wore a colorful, sparkling dress that was similar to one of Taylor’s outfits from her “Reputation” stadium world tour. She had to help me place leaves in my braids as I was trying to breathe, my hands too shaky to place them nicely.

Once in our outfits, we had a quick stop at the hotel bar for a shot, then walked to the arena and found our section entrance. It wasn’t until we went through security and up the stairs where we received our light-up bracelets that I began to cry.

Once in our seats, I took pictures of the stage and then began one of my favorite parts of the show: trading friendship bracelets.

I will admit, I came slightly overprepared with over 100 bracelets. They took up the entire large pocket of my purse, but I knew I’d be giving the majority of them out. Of course with the bracelet trading came tons of compliments and conversation from other concertgoers, as we asked what each other’s favorite albums were or tried finding a bracelet that matched the other person’s outfit.

When the opening act Paramore began to take the stage, more people in dazzling outfits filled the seats around us. Many of us were singing along to the band’s songs and watching our clocks as the time between now and Taylor taking the stage began to narrow.

As the band exited the stage when their 40-minute set was over, the energy in the arena began to pick up. Soon, the familiar opening notes of Leslie Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” played over the speakers and the screen slowly transitioned into a clock, counting down until the show began. Goosebumps spread over my arms and other fans began to cheer as we watched the seconds go by.

As the clock ticks down to zero, I have to remind myself to breathe in between my tears as the lights dim, the crowd begins to scream, and we begin to zoom into the clock on the screen.

Bracelets began to light up and the dancers began to walk out with their gigantic fans to start the tour, as we hear all of Taylor’s albums listed through a melody until we land on Lover, her seventh album and the opening era of the tour. The album came out in 2019 but never got a tour due to the pandemic, hence why many believe it kicks off the show.

The dancers placed the fans on the ground together as everyone freaked out. They lifted in unison and there she was.

Taylor Alison Swift .

To say I screamed was an understatement. Truthfully, I was hollering and loudly singing the entire show, and yes, my voice was raspy for the next two days. But the opening number built such an anticipation in me that with the adrenaline I had felt all day, I just screamed. And so did many others around me.

Taylor Swift opens Amsterdam show with 'Lover' set

We started into the Lover set and through songs of her hits of the era. Before performing the album’s titular track, Taylor always gives a speech to introduce the show and often welcomes the audience in the country’s native language. Now it truly felt like the show had begun.

Next is her “Fearless” set, which launches with the album’s title track and Taylor coming out with a guitar. Of course, the majority of the audience held their hands in the shape of hearts with Taylor just after the song’s bridge, a tradition that began during her Fearless tour in 2009. If people hadn’t been singing before, they were now, with “You Belong With Me” and “Love Story” following shortly after. The energy was high during this set; after all, it was her first Album Of The Year at the Grammy’s for a reason.

At this point, the order of the eras begins to differ from her U.S. shows. Before, we would be going into her “evermore” set but now it was time for the “Red” set. She kicks it off with “22” and the hat handoff with one of the crowd’s young Swifties. This fan-favorite moment has resulted in multiple viral videos of the kids reacting to Taylor as she makes her way to them at the end of the stage, often hugging them and taking one of their friendship bracelets, while they get the signed fedora Taylor is wearing.

Continuing through the set showcased other fun moments, including Taylor’s backup dancer Kameron Saunders telling us “in je dromen” (“in your dreams” in Dutch) during the bridge of “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” But of course, my favorite part of this era was singing along to “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” with so many others passionately singing.

Next is the “Speak Now” era. And for my fellow “Speak Now” fans, the pain of only having one song during this era hurts a bit. But that being said, being able to sing “Enchanted” with Taylor in a sparkling gown and her dancers in beautiful purple dresses felt truly magical.

As we watched Taylor walk backstage and disappear, the energy began shifting as we entered her next era, “reputation.”

I’m a pretty big “reputation” fan. It grew on me a few years ago and is now one of my favorite albums. It’s grown to be a community favorite too, as the cheering in the arena began to swell as the snake visuals flashed across the screen before Taylor walked out in her red and black bodysuit (which always earns me a nice two points on Mastermind).

I knew this era would be fantastic, but hearing the transition from “Don’t Blame Me” into “Look What You Made Me Do” felt like a religious experience. It’s so simple but so good, which is why so many of us went berserk. Of course, the dancers appearing in some of Taylor’s former tour and music video outfits only add to the performance and thrill. And who can resist yelling out “Why? Oh, cause she’s dead!” during the song’s bridge? (Kanye West and the Kardashians probably).

'folklore,' 'evermore' condensed into one set on Taylor Swift European tour

Soon, it was time for my most anticipated era: “folkmore”, or the combined era of her two 2020 albums “folklore” and “evermore”. Up until she began her European leg, these two albums had their individual times in the setlist, but they were condensed into one era starting in Paris.

The “folklore” cabin rolled onto the stage as she began the era with “cardigan” in her bright pink outfit, and then went into “betty” before going over to the piano to begin “champagne problems.”

Taylor often talks about her experience creating these albums during the pandemic, specifically saying she was looking forward to performing this song live during her next tour when she was originally writing it. The song is emotional and grew to become a fan favorite when “evermore” was released, and has resulted in a challenge among concert attendees.

As the song wraps up, the crowds burst into a loud, long applause and we see how long we can go. Yes, this is the song that received the eight-minute standing ovation during one of her shows in Los Angeles last year. And while I knew we wouldn’t reach that time, I knew everyone would give their all.

The final notes of the song were played and the crowd began the cheers and screams. It slowly seemed to build as Taylor looked out to the crowd and smiled. Soon she stood up and took her earpieces out to hear us, which caused a loud burst of applause. We continued to clap and cheer until she thanked us and then continued the show with “august.” No, we didn’t go for eight minutes, but we hit three and got Taylor to take her earpieces out so I’d say that was a win.

Continuing through the set, I screamed during the bridge of “illicit affairs,” cried to “marjorie” and then was mesmerized by watching the orbs during “willow.” I would say that this was my favorite era, and I think it’s one of the most pleasing to see. It felt more mellow yet more emotional than the other eras.

Of course, the energy would begin to rise again as we transitioned into “1989.” It was filled with all of her hits from this era, starting with “Style” and ending with “Bad Blood.” And yes, there was a group of us chanting “Amsterdam” during the “Blank Space” bridge.

My mom said this was her favorite era of the show since it was the most energized and is the album she’s most familiar with. This era felt like a party and probably had the most people singing along; it won Album of the Year at the 2015 Grammy Awards for a reason.

It was also the perfect energizing era that we needed before entering her next and newest era, “The Tortured Poets Department .” This was added to the show in Paris in May, as the album came out the previous month.

Originally, I had planned to avoid all spoilers for this era so I could experience it for the first time in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, I am too nosey (I am a journalist, after all) and watched a grainy livestream of the first Paris show so I could see what songs were included.

The choreography and visuals for this set were stunning and at the same level as the rest of the show, so it fit right in. The theatrics starting in “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and continuing into “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” with the improvised skit in between was the peak of this era for me.

'Surprise songs' did not let Taylor Swift fans down

Then it was time for the acoustic set, or “surprise songs.” This is usually the most anticipated moment of the show and often the part that is most reacted to online. I knew I would’ve been happy with whatever we got after all the hard work I put in to get to this show, and I was so happy that it truly paid off.

Taylor started the set on guitar by performing “imgonnagetyouback” from Tortured Poets, then she mashed it up with “Dress” from “reputation.” I lost my mind during the latter, mainly because I was hoping for a song from “reputation” and this was one of my favorites. The crowd reacted very similarly.

The second song is performed on piano and was also a perfect choice. Taylor started “You Are In Love” from “1989,” my favorite song from the album, and then completed the mashup with “cowboy like me” from “evermore.” Again, everyone in the arena freaked out and couldn’t contain their screaming.

Finally, Taylor dived into the stage for the last era of the show, “Midnights.” I had refused to accept that the show was going to be over until the second-to-last song began to play and then it finally hit me. “Karma” started and Taylor invited us to sing along for one more song, and the tears began again.

I’m sure Taylor has her reasons for ending the show with this song, but it felt like the perfect ending for me. I always believed in karma and that it always pays off, so when “Midnights” came out in 2022 it became one of my favorites. But standing in the arena at the Eras Tour and watching Taylor performing it live felt so rewarding. This was it, I put in the hard work and finally got to see my favorite singer perform live. The night was perfect, and I thought the only way it could’ve been better was if Travis Kelce was there (spoiler alert: he was).

I still feel a rush of emotions whenever I think of the show. Even writing this and getting to watch all of my videos from the show has me a bit teary-eyed. Everyone was there to have a fun time and enjoy our favorite artist together, trade friendship bracelets and compliment our outfits, and create life-lasting memories. Even back home, I’m still playing Mastermind and watching (and reporting to my dad) all of the surprise songs in her final European shows. It’s still hard to believe I was there, it was truly such a surreal experience.

Thank you, Taylor. Until next time, I’ll be waiting.

Exploring the Adverse Effects of Ticketmaster’s Monopoly

the eras tour pre sale

Khoury/ECE Associate Professor Wil Robertson explains how the cyberattack by bots that Ticketmaster suffered from during the sale of tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour reflects the company’s monopolistic position within the concert industry.

This article originally appeared on Northeastern Global News . It was published by Cody Mello-Klein. Main photo: When Ticketmaster opened up presale tickets for Taylor Swift’s first tour since 2018, fans were quickly overwhelmed by bots swooping into scoop up tickets. But Northeastern University cybersecurity and antitrust experts say Ticketmaster should have been better equipped to handle the issue. AP Photo by: Rolf Vennenbernd

Live Nation Entertainment blamed bots for the Taylor Swift ticket fiasco. Is it a legitimate explanation or just an excuse?

Music industry monolith Live Nation Entertainment, owner of Ticketmaster, faced a united front of political opposition during a Senate Judiciary Hearing this week, as Democrats and Republicans criticized the company for its mishandling of  Taylor Swift ticket sales  last fall.

During the three-hour hearing, senators from across the political spectrum grilled the company’s president and CFO, Joe Berchtold, questioning the company’s bullish business practices and monopolization of the music industry. In some cases, senators even called for the dissolution of the 2010 merger between Live Nation and Ticketmaster.

“This is all the definition of monopoly,” said Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat from Minnesota, during the hearing. “Live Nation is so powerful that it doesn’t even need to exert pressure, it doesn’t need to threaten, because people just fall in line.”

Berchtold acknowledged Ticketmaster’s botched presale of tickets for Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour,” the artist’s first tour since 2018. Fans who had waited for hours in a digital queue were frustrated when they faced either exorbitant fees or, more commonly, couldn’t even get tickets at all. Even Swifties in Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan program, who were able to get in early for the presale, were out of luck.

In his attempts to explain what went wrong, Berchtold said Ticketmaster has been the target of a large-scale cyberattack by bots. These programs carry out automated action online in a way that appears human-like and are often deployed by scalpers to crowd out real fans, scooping up large amounts of tickets and reselling them for well above fair market price.

William Robertson , an associate professor of computer science at Northeastern University, says that Berchtold’s characterization of the Taylor Swift debacle is fair. Bots are a prevalent issue in ticket sales, and a bot invasion was clearly part of the problem in this case. But that’s not the whole story, he says.

“Ticketmaster’s statement seems to imply that this cyberattack is somehow unexpected when in fact this attack is and has been a known, core threat to their business for a long time now,” Robertson told  Northeastern Global News . “The only aspect of this incident that is perhaps unprecedented is the scale of the attack.”

The most common defense against bots is a CAPTCHA, a test that determines whether a web user is a human or a program. But scalpers have become very good at fooling these tests, Robertson says, to the point where there is an entire segment of the cybersecurity industry focused on this very issue.

Robertson admits it’s “unreasonable to expect that Ticketmaster can stop all bot attacks.” However, the brutal efficiency with which bots penetrated Ticketmaster’s system last November is indicative of a bigger issue that was the focus of this week’s hearing: the company’s monopoly on the concert industry and the merger that helped it secure that position in the first place.

“It’s clear that they should be doing more and, without strong competition or regulatory action, it would seem they do not have enough incentive to invest in this part of their business,” Robertson says.

Taylor Swift

“It’s clear that they should be doing more and, without strong competition or regulatory action, it would seem they do not have enough incentive to invest in this part of their business,” Robertson says

The concerns cited by Klobuchar and her fellow senators are not new. They date back to the 1990s, when Pearl Jam tried and failed to stand up to Ticketmaster. And the same arguments were brought up during the U.S. Department of Justice’s 2010 settlement that allowed the merger to go through.

John Kwoka , Neal F. Finnegan distinguished professor of economics at Northeastern, says even at the time, there was a strong case for an antitrust challenge to the $889 million deal. Kwoka served as an economic consultant for a working group established by a group of state governments that conducted their own parallel investigation of the 2010 merger that formed Live Nation Entertainment.

“Most of us who read the consent order, which was a piece of paper that represented that agreement, objected because it seemed unenforceable, and I think history has proven that to be true,” Kwoka says. “The very things that the consent order was supposed to prevent––conditioning sale of one thing and the purchase of another, retaliation against those who did not choose to use Ticketmaster’s services––all of those happened right away.”

And in the 13 years since the merger, those behaviors haven’t stopped. From venue management to ticket services, Live Nation Entertainment is now a dominant player in most stages of live music production. The bot attack in the Taylor Swift case highlights how that level of dominance is still problematic, Kwoka says.

“The question of whether it rises to a legally actionable failure on Ticketmaster’s part is something yet to be determined, but my point is that leaving a project like this in the hands of the same company that’s dominated the business for 30 years is eventually a prescription for trouble,” Kwoka says. “It faces no pressure from a new competitor or a small competitor to improve its systems and stay ahead of the attacks.”

Whether the furor of Swifties and the interest of the Department of Justice can help change that is another story.

During the hearing, Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat from Connecticut, said “unwinding the merger ought to be on the table” if the Department of Justice can prove Live Nation Entertainment has violated its consent decree. Although it would be a radical move, Kwoka says it’s not without precedent. In 1984, the government forced AT&T to break up into eight smaller companies––although they have since come back under the AT&T banner.

A lot of it comes down to how the company is structured and the priorities of those in power.

Live Nation Entertainment has relatively discrete operations between promotion, ticketing and venues, which Kwoka argues would make it easier to dissolve the merger. More importantly, Kwoka says Merrick Garland, the U.S. attorney general, and Lina Khan, chair of the Federal Trade Commission, are trying to usher in “a new era in competition policy.”

Kwoka, who currently serves as Khan’s chief economic adviser , says the Taylor Swift case is hitting at the perfect time, when the U.S. is primed to take action on antitrust policy.

“It’s a historic moment,” Kwoka says. “It’s not been true for decades that both agencies have been headed by people equally interested or determined to take a hard look at some of these issues.”

Around the World in Analogue: Life in the Green City, Zelenograd

Back in 1958, Zelenograd was a new town formed and planned by the Soviet Union, specialized to become the central hub of electronics, microelectronics and the computer industry, and it has become as such to this very day for Russia. Dubbed as the "Green City" in reference to the city's color and the symbolic animal, the squirrel, Zelenograd offers much more as it provides wide, open spaces where modernity and nature meet. Through the photographs of Lomographer Igor Silaev a.k.a. mahoney66 , we see a gorgeous glimpse of his life in the okrug in harmonious colors.

I think 2020 was very hard for everyone. There are various restrictions in the country. Due to some restrictions, I even had to change jobs. But it was only good because I had more free time. Thanks to this, I returned to photography!

I live in Zelenograd (Autonomous district of Moscow). Unlike the center of Moscow, it is more calm and measured, and there are a lot of trees in our city (Zelenograd literally translates as green city ). Thanks to this, you can feel a certain connection with nature here, as if you are in the village. But at the same time, some areas look like a metropolis. There is also a very unusual architecture in the style of post-Soviet modernism, it is very inspiring. That's probably why I love this city.

the eras tour pre sale

First of all, I love my view from the window, because there are unreal sunsets. There are also many parks and alleys in the city, and in my opinion, they are much more picturesque than parks in the center of Moscow and not so mainstream. I would recommend Victory Park (not to be confused with the Park of the same name in Moscow) and the arboretum. From the Central parks, I would recommend VDNH, there is something to see and shoot.

Next to my house there is a Tanuki restaurant, where they prepare delicious Asian food. And from the bars I would recommend Hops & Coffee, it is located next to the train station. There are many varieties of author's beer and damn fine coffee!... and hot! If we talk about the center, then be sure to visit the cafe PEOPLE as PEOPLE -- this is a pleasant place where you can eat delicious and inexpensive food.

the eras tour pre sale

I Advise you to come to Moscow in the middle of summer, at this time there are the most comfortable weather conditions and you can walk all day long. Visit as many attractions and parks as possible, take a ride in the Moscow metro and take as much film with you as possible because here it is much more expensive! If you still need a film, then I recommend Perspektivalab . They have a good selection of films and the price is reasonable.

I like to think about the first time I went to Sokolniki Park with my girlfriend. That day, I was terribly stung by my new sneakers, but even that didn't spoil this beautiful day. We walked all day and took a lot of pictures. If you are in Moscow, be sure to go to Sokolniki Park!
