university of miami campus tour video

The University of Miami has three campuses on more than 400 acres throughout Miami-Dade County.

Coral Gables

The Coral Gables campus, the University’s main campus, is home to two colleges and eight schools and is located on a 239-acre tract in Coral Gables, approximately seven miles from downtown Miami. These academic units include the School of Architecture, College of Arts and Sciences, Miami Herbert Business School, School of Communication, School of Education and Human Development, College of Engineering, Graduate School, School of Law, Phillip and Patricia Frost School of Music, and School of Nursing and Health Studies. The Division of Continuing and International Education is also located on the campus.

The campus is one of South Florida’s prime destinations for a rich variety of arts and culture offerings. The Lowe Art Museum houses South Florida’s largest and most varied art collection and hosts traveling exhibitions. The Jerry Herman Ring Theatre offers a rotating lineup of musicals, plays, and other theatrical performances. The acoustically superb Gusman Concert Hall and Clarke Recital Hall host an array of concerts spanning the musical spectrum each year, presented by the Frost School of Music. The Cosford Cinema screens a wide variety of first-run, classic, rare, and art-house films. The Coral Gables campus is also home to the University’s celebrated intercollegiate athletics program.

In recent years, many major new facilities have been added to the Coral Gables campus—Watsco Center, Perez Architecture Center, Schwartz Center for Nursing and Health Studies, Simulation Hospital Advancing Research and Education, Shalala Student Center, Frost Studios North and South, Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, Long and Smith Student Services Building, and the Frost Institutes for Chemistry and Molecular Science. The Lennar Foundation Medical Center, a 200,000-square-foot ambulatory medical facility, opened on the campus in 2016.

Miller School Campus

The Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine campus, in the Health District near downtown Miami, consists of 70 acres within the 153-acre University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center complex. The medical campus includes the UHealth – University of Miami Health System, which encompasses   Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of only two NCI-designated centers in the state of Florida; the top-ranked Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, and UHealth Tower, operating within University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. Affiliated hospitals include Jackson Memorial Hospital, Holtz Children’s Hospital, the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and multiple partner hospitals that form the Miller School’s Regional Medical Campus. About three dozen UHealth outpatient clinics are located in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Collier counties.

Miller School of Medicine faculty conduct nearly 2,000 research projects, and close to 1,400 UHealth physicians represent more than 100 specialties and subspecialties, with outcomes that are among the best in the nation. The 15-story Clinical Research Building opened in 2006, and the nine-story Biomedical Research Instituteopened in 2009. The 252,000-square foot Miami Life Science and Technology Park, designed to foster biotechnology and other leading-edge innovations, opened in 2011.

Rosenstiel School Campus

One of only a few subtropical research institutions in the continental United States, the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science is located on an 18-acre waterfront campus on Virginia Key in Biscayne Bay. The campus is part of a 65-acre marine research and education park that includes two U.S. Department of Commerce National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) research laboratories, as well as the MAST Academy, the Miami-Dade County magnet high school for marine science and technology. Within the 85,000-square-foot Marine and Life Sciences Seawater Complex, which opened in 2014, the Alfred C. Glassell Jr. SUrge-STructure-Atmosphere-INteraction (SUSTAIN) laboratory houses an air-sea tank that can produce Category 5 hurricane winds, enabling researchers to study hurricane intensification, storm surges, and other aspects of extreme weather conditions.

Richmond Campus

The Richmond Campus, established in 2001, is a 76-acre site that houses research facilities for the Rosenstiel School’s Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing (CSTARS) and Richmond Satellite Operations Center (RSOC).

  • NEW FEATURE! Content-Managed Map/Video Coordination The University of Miami virtual tour is the first CampusTours presentation to make use of content-managed interplay between our Interactive Videos and the Interactive Map (To see map/video coordination in action, click here ). Using the MultiMedia Engine content management system, the University of Miami can coordinate map movement, map highlighting and effects to any point in the video, allowing the institution to provide a vastly more compelling tour experience. Meanwhile, the Interactive Map remains controllable by the visitor, encouraging them to explore the campus in greater detail. Finally, when Miami adds new videos to the system or updates a video, they can easily modify coordinated map behavior.
  • NEW FEATURE! Dynamic User Interface Control Miami's tour makes use of a new CampusTours technology termed Dynamic User Interface Control, which gives the user control over how portions of the tour interface are laid out. Based on an examination of the ways that students and parents interact with tours, CampusTours has developed Dynamic User Interface Control to allow people to alter the basic tour interface to better suit their particular tasks or tastes. Visitors seeking particular information on buildings or campus logistics can easily expand the map tab to maximize the interactive map and focus on that portion of the experience.

Special Group Tours

Special Group Tours are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and considered within the context of our ongoing event schedule. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we review requests.

At this time, we no longer have availability for group tours for the Spring semester.

General guidelines

  • Group size should be anywhere from 15-45 people , which includes students and chaperones.
  • There should be at least 1 chaperone for every 10 students.
  • Special Group Tours are not offered when the University is closed. Please refer to our Academic Calendar .
  • We ask that you send in Special Group Tour requests  at least two weeks in advance of the date that you would like to schedule your visit.
  • Special Group Tours are geared toward students who are preparing to apply for and attend college. Due to high demand, we are unable to accommodate Special Group Tours for elementary and middle school students. Please feel free to download our Self-Guided Walking Tour , which you may use to navigate the campus at your convenience.

Preparing for your tour

  • “Hurricane Season” lasts from June – October and sporadic rainstorms are common.
  • Admission staff may exercise discretion and cancel the walking portion of the Special Group Tour due to inclement weather. Should this occur, we will provide you with a Self-Guided Walking Tour to navigate at your convenience.
  • We are located in a sub-tropical climate, the sun tends to be very strong, even on cloudy days. We recommend all visitors wear sunscreen.

Arriving for your tour

  • We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. Please note that if you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled tour time, your Special Group Tour will be canceled due to limited student and/or staff availability.
  • Please check-in at the front desk of the Office of Undergraduate Admission, which is located in the Whitten University Center .
  • If, on the day of your Special Group Tour, you find that you are running late or are in need of directions, please call us at 305-284-6000 or email [email protected] .

Directions and parking

  • Our campus is located right off of U.S. Highway 1 in Coral Gables, Florida. For directions, please  click here .
  • Please plan on parking in the Pavia Garage if you are arriving by car.
  • If arriving by bus, please contact Parking Events with your group name, charter name and visit date no later than 48 hours prior to your arrival at [email protected] .

If you would like to reschedule or cancel your Special Group Tour, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact [email protected]

Note: Cancellations must be communicated to us at least one week before the confirmed date.

U of M to be featured on Prime Video show 'The College Tour.' Here's when, what it includes

university of miami campus tour video

If you’re considering attending the University of Memphis, then keep your eyes on the show “The College Tour” ― because it’s slated to give an inside look at the school in 2024.

U of M is poised to appear on the streamed series, which showcases college life at universities across the globe. Hosted by Alex Boylan, who won the CBS show “The Amazing Race” in 2002, "The College Tour" started in 2020, and is now putting together its 12 th season. It can be found on Amazon Prime Video and The College Tour website, and the U of M episode is set to be released this fall.

Filming at U of M began this week, and the 30-minute episode about the university is expected to explain what life is like for its students, highlighting everything from academics to internships to study abroad opportunities.

More: 'This is our showpiece:' Take a first look inside U of M's new $40M STEM building

“While the ‘The College Tour’ highlights the many incredible features of the U of M and its campus, our students stand out as the true VIPs of this series,” said President Bill Hardgrave in a press release. “We are no strangers to their passion, determination and enthusiasm, so we are absolutely thrilled the world gets to be introduced to them now as well.”

The episode is set to start with student Christina McKnight, who attends the U of M Lambuth campus in Jackson, and discusses becoming a resident advisor. It will also feature nine other students:

  • Gage Farris talks about being a first-generation student and Peer Mentor.
  • Caleb Suggs discusses industry connections and starting an independent film production company.
  • Ansley Ecker talks about internships and networking through campus organizations.
  • Donovan McLemore notes mentorships and his experience creating Grind City Hoops.
  • Tony Miles talks about student success and leading several organizations.
  • Charles Ratcliff discusses research and experiential learning.
  • Liliana McKenna discusses her study abroad experience in Japan.
  • Sree Malya Bathina talks about graduate school experiences.
  • Suzie Perry discusses access through the Education Support Program.

The College Tour has featured an array of colleges and universities since its inception, and U of M isn’t the first school from Tennessee to be on the show. East Tennessee State University was the subject of an episode in season one.
