About Gorumara National Park

The Gorumara National Park covers an area of 80 sq km and holds significance as a ridgeline between the rivers Ganga and Brahmaputra.

The reserve forest lies in the terai belt and is one of the best-protected areas in India.

It was established in 1992 and is the most prominent site for the Indian Rhinoceros. The gorgeous wild habitat is home to several species of flora and fauna.

The climate here is primarily soothing throughout the year, and there is rainfall mostly between May to mid-October.

The residents near the forest carry out their livelihood by working in ecotourism, forest department activities, and other works related to tourism and the national park.

The park contains a variety of biomes, including tropical and subtropical grasslands, shrublands, and savannas that contribute to the Terai-Duar savanna and grassland. This is because it is located in the Indomalayan realm, one of the eight biogeographic realms.

Then, the biome of the tropical moist forest is displayed through the moist deciduous forest of the lower Gangetic plains. The biomes are incredible to look at.

Indian rhinoceros, sloth bears, Asian elephants, gaur, sambar deer, and many others are seen roaming around freely. Hispid hares, giant squirrels, and different other rodents are also found. Tigers are rarely spotted inside the wild park, and large carnivores lack in this area.

The park is also the habitat of the king cobra and Indian python, along with many distinctive venomous and non-venomous snakes.

It is a paradise for bird watchers. Spangled drongo, pheasants, Indian hornbill, exotic Brahminy duck, and multiple other rare migratory birds dwell and immigrate in this park.

Bengal Safari Park, Siliguri: Ticket Price, How To Reach, Best Time to Visit

Siliguri is a city in West Bengal that’s often referred to as the Gateway of Northeast India. If you want to start exploring northeast India, Siliguri is the place to start your journey with. The city is popular for 3 T’s: tea, timber, tourism. Lying 35km west of its twin city of Jalpaiguri, it is the third-largest city in West Bengal after Kolkata and Asansol. It’s located on the foothills of the Himalayan range and the banks of the Mahananda River. The city is known for its scenic and panoramic views.

But one of the reasons why Siliguri is always replete with tourists throughout the year is North Bengal Wild Animals Park, also known as the Bengal Safari Park.  It’s one of the best places in India for wildlife enthusiasts. There are plenty of beautiful places to visit in West Bengal , but your trip will remain incomplete till you visit the Bengal Safari Park.

Here is all that you need to know about the Bengal Safari Park before you visit it:

Since its inauguration, Bengali Safari Park has been the key tourist attraction in north Bengal, especially Siliguri. Here, not only can you go on a safari in Bengal, but you will also see diverse flora and fauna. The safari park is surrounded by Sal trees and is home to several animals. Whether you want to see sambar deer, royal Bengal tigers, leopards, or beers, you will find them all at the Bengal Safari Park.

Where is Bengal Safari Park Located?

5 th Mile, Sevoke Road, Salugara is the address of the Bengal Safari Park. It is located 8 km from the main town of Siliguri in north Bengal.

How Can you Reach Bengal Safari Park?

You can also use other means of transport like auto or bus, both are easily available and you will have no problem reaching Bengal Safari Park.

What are the Timings for visiting the Bengal Safari Park?

How Dangerous are Tigers?

Do you like Big Animals?  We collected ideas on the Best Places to see Hippos , Elephants , Giraffes , or Rhinos .

That is why wild animals respect them. But if a trainer, for example, stumbles and loses his position of power, it can become dangerous even for him. Also, to strange tigers, he would not dare to enter the cage. By the way, in the wilderness, animals only rarely attack humans. If, for example, a shark hurts a surfer, it is only because he mistakes him for a seal. You can see this because, unlike its usual prey, it does not eat it.

Nevertheless, some people can go into a tiger or lion cage without being attacked, for example, tamers in the circus. They know their animals well and are something like the leader.

For Tiger, a human being is a big animal. And when an animal is in its enclosure, the tiger wants to hunt it because he has an innate hunting instinct.

Approximately 100 people die every year due to attacks by tigers. Probably, humans are often to blame for this themselves because they provoke the animals.

Tigers in Zoos and National Parks

The consequences for the animals are fatal: Massive damage to their health, severe behavioral disorders, and increased mortality.  This Tiger Safari or Tour guide should highlight only sustainable places to go.

  • Perform feats for which they are often trained by force,
  • Have to change venues 50 times a year on average,
  • Spend most of their time in small cages, inadequate enclosures, or in the transport wagon,
  • That essential species-specific behavior such as social contacts or movement are considerably restricted or made completely impossible,
  • that they have little variety or occupation,
  • that they are often not fed and cared for appropriately,
  • That veterinary control or care is often inadequate because there are only a few specialized veterinarians for wild animals nationwide or the circus cannot or will not afford the treatment financially,
  • that in many cases the circus operators lack the necessary expertise,
  • that there is no fixed winter quarters during the play-free period. Only about every tenth company can call a winter accommodation its own.

Nevertheless, animals of wild species can still be seen in many circus operations that travel around the world: Tigers, lions, elephants, rhinoceroses, giraffes, sea lions or monkeys – the range of animal species carried along is extensive. Wild animals suffer in the circus. They suffer massively, because:

Wild animals make exceptionally high demands on their keeping and accommodation. In a circus enterprise, responsible keeping wild animals is generally impossible.
