North Augusta Christmas home tour scheduled

It’s been a North Augusta holiday tradition for 34 years, and it’s back Dec. 2 and 3.

The Beta Sigma Phi Sorority’s North Augusta Christmas Tour of Homes will feature six stops.

“Beta Sigma Phi Sorority began this tour in 1988 with a two-fold purpose – to provide a profitable fund raiser for North Augusta High School student scholarships and an enjoyable occasion for the community and out-of-town visitors,” according to Linda Skinner, tour spokesperson. “The tour has been held every year except 2020.”

The homes of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Creed on Railroad Avenue and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Stolarski on Fulton Street in Hammond’s Ferry, Mr. and Mrs. David Del Vecchio  in The River Club and Wendy Rae Johnson in Arlington Heights are on the tour as well as Lookaway Hall and the Arts and Heritage Center of North Augusta.

The tour will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, and 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3.

Tour tickets may be purchased in advance for $20 until 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at CommuniGraphics, Parks Pharmacy and Arts and Heritage Center in North Augusta; Consign Design in Martinez; and Plum Pudding in Aiken. Tickets may also be purchased online until Nov. 30 at www.natourofhomes.org. During tour hours, tickets may be purchased for $25 at any of the tour stops.

Everyone taking the tour including “children in arms” must have a ticket, according to Skinner. Cash or check is required for ticket purchases at businesses and tour stops.

Since 1988, the tour has provided $197,000 in scholarships to high school seniors.

James Brown Family Foundation

The James Brown Family Historical Tours run once a week on Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. The tour begins at the Augusta Museum of History . Along with a guide, the bus tour visit sites that are significant to the history of James Brown growing up and living in Augusta. Highlights include such sites as the elementary school that James Brown attended, the home where he lived as a child, businesses  he owned, The James Brown Statue, The James Brown Arena and much more! Patrons also get the opportunity to see the largest exhibit of his memorabilia at The Augusta Museum of History following the tour.
