Four eras, 40 hungry competitors, one explosive trailer!

The first tease for The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras is here and from the looks of it, this is not a season to miss. The drama all kicks off Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 8/7c on MTV , but you can whet your appetite with the action to come by watching the video embedded above.

The trailer also teases a hall brawl, hook-ups, sooo many tears and a few fresh twists, including a new power given to elimination winners that allows them to select the “targets from each era.” There’s also some frightening footage of Challenge champ and fan-favorite CT Tamburello being carried out on a stretcher. Could his game be over before it even starts?

The cast features 10 competitors from each era and is a mix of recent  All Stars , flagship players and a few participants we haven’t seen in years. Era 1 has a stacked line-up featuring champs Tamburello, Jodi Weatherton, Darrell Taylor and recent returnee Rachel Robinson. The Era 2 team boasts a player we haven’t seen since she won her  only   Challenge  back in 2006 — Aviv Melmed — plus heavy hitter Emily Schromm and fan favorite Cara Maria Sorbello. The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

Lee Daniels is directing a supernatural drama based on a true story.

The Academy Award-nominated director reunites with his “United States vs. Billie Holiday” star Andra Day for Netflix film “ The Deliverance .” Written by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum, “The Deliverance” centers on a single mother (Day) who endures strange occurrences in a new home. The feature is billed as being a “genre-defying take on darkness, possession, and finding a higher power.”

Glenn Close , Daniels’ “Precious” Oscar winner Mo’Nique, Anthony B. Jenkins, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, and Tasha Smith co-star, along with Omar Epps, Caleb McLaughlin, and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.

“The Deliverance” is produced by director Daniels, Tucker Tooley, Pamela Oas Williams, Jackson Nguyen, and Todd Crites, with Jahil Fisher, Simone Sheffield, and Jeremy Green co-producing. The executive producers are Jackie Shenoo, Hilary Shor, Greg Renker, and Gregoire Gensollen.

“The Deliverance” is Daniels’ first feature since 2021’s “The United States vs. Billie Holiday,” which followed “The Butler” from 2013. Daniels’ other credits include his Best Picture and Best Director Academy Award-nominated film “Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire,” and as the co-creator, executive producer, director, and writer of the Fox series “Empire.”

As revealed in 2021, Daniels was also tapped by Hugh Jackman to helm 2013’s “The Wolverine” for Fox. Daniels recalled it being the “worst meeting of my life” with the studio.

“I don’t know how he gets Wolverine from ‘Precious,’ but I love him, and he’s a friend to this day,” Daniels told Collider . James Mangold later directed the franchise installment instead. Meanwhile, Jackman is reprising the role for “Deadpool & Wolverine” alongside Ryan Reynolds; “Stranger Things” EP and helmer Shawn Levy directs.

The Daily Show has figured out its plans for the week after having to pivot from its original plan.

The Comedy Central show was set to have a week of shows from the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee but after the shooting at the Trump rally over the weekend, shifted its coverage.

Instead, Jon Stewart will host the show tonight (Tuesday) followed by the news team, which includes Ronny Chieng, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta and Desi Lydic, hosting on Wednesday.

The Daily Show was forced to go dark on Monday (July 15) after having much of its team already in Milwaukee but the assassination attempt on former President Trump forced it to change these plans.

“Our apologies for the inconvenience but due to logistical issues and the evolving situation in Milwaukee, we need to reschedule our events on the ground in Wisconsin and will look to make those up in the coming weeks,” the show said on social media.

Tonight, Stewart will be talking to Bill O’Reilly, host of The O’Reilly Update and author of Confronting The Presidents . Stewart regularly sparred with the former Fox News host during his first stint hosting The Daily Show and the pair participated in a debate in Washington, DC – The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium – in 2012.

In 2020, Stewart told The New York Times that having O’Reilly on was “probably” the “worst legacy” of The Daily Show.
