ROSE PARADE TOUR PACKAGES WILL INCLUDE

You will have a choice of 3 hotels

Our clients have been happy with all three hotels for past events.

The Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles is a full service hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The Biltmore has been home to Presidents , Kings , and Hollywood celebrities. 

The Sonesta Redondo Beach is  9 miles South of The LAX Airport and directly across the street from the Marina and nice restaurants. The Sonesta has a rooftop swimming pool with a panoramic view of The Pacific Ocean.

The Huntley Hotel Santa Monica   which is a short walk to the ocean, Santa Monica Pier and the 3rd Street Promenade where there are many restaurants, cafe’s   and entertainment areas.  The Huntley has a really nice restaurant and lounge on the top floor of the hotel with a panoramic view of the ocean. Santa Monica is ten miles North of The LA Airport and is three miles from Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive.

NO MATTER WHICH HOTEL YOU CHOOSE, ALL PACKAGES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING

• January 1 – Admission to a large float decorating barn in the city of Irwindale. You will see approximately 10-12 floats being worked on and finished before they are judged.
• January 2- Reserved Grandstand Ticket to the 2023 Tournament of Roses Parade . Our grandstand seat location is 10 minutes from the front of the parade with the sun at your back . The seats are located at 318 West Colorado. We are in a large grandstand where the bands are normally playing. Our buses park 20 yards from the parade seats . Your parade seats can be assigned when your reservation is made and we can accommodate any special requests.
• A nice sit down lunch at a restaurant in Pasadena after the Rose Parade.
• Post float viewing at Victory Park   after the conclusion of the parade and lunch. You will be able to walk around Victory Park  and see the floats up close.
• Transportation to and from all of the events on deluxe motor coach  buses with a restroom.
• A grab and go continental breakfast on January 1 prior to departing for the float barn.

Three nights starting on December 30 and departing on January 2. ( extra nights are available) You do NOT need to stay near the airport, with our hotel options. Please remember this when comparing packages

• January 1- Reserved Grandstand Ticket to the 2025 Tournament of Roses Parade aka The Rose Parade. Our grandstand seat location is 10 minutes from the front of the Rose Parade with the sun at your back . The seats are located at 318 West Colorado. We are in a large grandstand with the best rows for viewing the parade. The bands are playing in front of us as they like to play in front of the larger grandstands and take a break in front of the smaller seating areas. Our buses park 20 yards from the parade seats . Your Rose Parade seats can be assigned when your reservation is made and we can accommodate any special requests.
• Post Rose Parade float viewing tour at Victory Park after the conclusion of the parade and lunch. You will be able to walk around Victory Park and tour the parade floats up close. ALL OF THE FLOATS ARE IN ONE LOCATION.
• Transportation to and from all of the events on deluxe motor coach  buses with a restroom.

DECEMBER 31 – You will be visiting the Phoenix Decorating Barn in the city of Irwindale. Phoenix Decorating is the largest float builder in the parade. You will see volunteers working on the floats. **My humble opinion, going to the barn on December 30 is a better experience than on December 31 but both experiences are nice.

DECEMBER 30 – Catch a sneak peek of some of the Rose Parade Bands as they perform their halftime show. This event is held at the Pasadena City College. The fee is $125 per person and includes admission as well as transportation. (You would need to arrive on December 29 or arrive to the Hotel by 11am on December 30 for this event)

DECEMBER 30 – Combine The FLOAT BARN in the morning with a few hours in OLD TOWN PASADENA with BANDFEST in the afternoon. The fee is $180 per person. When the group is finished at The Float Barn we will drop you off in Old Town Pasadena for 2.5 to 3 hours where you can walk around and get a bite to eat on your own. When we are finished in Old Town Pasadena we will proceed two miles to BANDFEST. The pre show starts at 1:30PM , the main show starts at 2PM ,  The show normally lasts close to 2 hours and then we return to the hotel.

DECEMBER 31 –  Approximate times- 8:45AM- 4PM,  The tour will have 4-5 stops along the way and stop for Lunch AT FARMERS Market. The fee is $125 per person.  Lunch is not part of the $125 fee.

The Rose Parade

Beautiful Pasadena California is home to the Tournament of Roses Parade . More commonly known as The Rose Parade. The Rose Parade has been around since 1890. It occurs annually on new years day, or on Monday, January 2 if New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday. But as much as we were rooting for the couple, we aren't naive; many jewels outlast the marriages for which they're purchased, and sometimes what's given as a symbols of true love can be reduced to a valuable asset in a divorce . So, now that the pair have officially called it quits, what happens to that ring? Below, we investigate.

Keep or Return?

Searching for the perfect engagement ring is a daunting, expensive task. If the one who proposed went through the work to find a ring—and then paid for it—shouldn't they get it back?

"In no circumstance is a [proposer] entitled to 'take back' an engagement ring," Joanna Gong, a jewelry specialist, tells T&C. "That being said, it is in good etiquette that the [one proposed to] offers to return the ring, given the separation was a mutual decision that didn't involve more complex situations like a partner's infidelity."

For Gong, the partner who offered the ring initially should refuse to take it back, "a bit like the little dance on their first date," as she believes this is the best way for the parting couple to preserve decent thoughts about each other.

The exception is when the ring is a family heirloom. "These should be returned without hesitation," Gong says. "And this is the only case where re-proposing with the same ring is not frowned upon."

Will It Cover the Cost of Your Divorce Lawyer?

When it comes to engagement rings and divorce, it might be good to follow that old saying: out with the old and in with the new. Remember when things looked bright and you were showing your diamond off? It might be a good time to consider the benefits of the stone.

"Many people, particularly women, have had to liquidate their assets in order to pay rent, buy a new place, and cover legal costs," jewelry designer Briony Raymond says.

Flashback to 2022: Harry and Linda Macklowe called it quits after 57 years together and, after a bitter legal battle on how to split assets worth close to $2 billion, bid adieu to some of their treasures by auctioning them off. In total, the sale totaled more than $922 million. Decades before that, Elizabeth Taylor auctioned off her famous Taylor-Burton diamond in 1978 after her second divorce from Richard Burton. The ring sold for $5 million. Taylor donated the proceeds to the construction of a hospital in Botswana. Love The Jewel! Not The Memories.

"Every time I look at the diamond, I see his face," a divorcée once told Raymond. You might not be enamored with your ex, but, oh, that diamond! It'll certainly come in handy at some point.

"Jewelry is visceral and emotional—one should repurpose it so long as it feels good for the heart," Raymond says. According to her, an engagement ring from a divorce or a broken engagement might still carry a negative sentiment. Using the stone in an entirely new way is a popular way to keep the jewel while leaving the old memories behind.

"The key is that the redesign should be intentional. You don't want to do a lazy design and have someone recognize that it was your former engagement ring," she says. "Changing the setting from platinum to gold isn't a big enough change. For one client, I paired the diamond with two colored stones and turned it into a cocktail ring. For another, I set the diamonds in a curb link chain and turned it into a choker. Redesigning and repurposing your engagement ring is like rewriting history, and you want to make sure the new version of it seems like it was made in a vacuum with no context or reminders of the past."

Stunning new trail bridge provides access to 120-foot Diamond Creek Falls near Oakridge

A stunning new bridge has been installed to provide safer access to Diamond Creek Falls, a 120-foot cascade in Willamette National Forest southeast of Oakridge.

The 61-foot trail bridge was built on Diamond Creek Falls Trail #3598, which is part of a hiking loop that begins at Salt Creek Falls just off Highway 58.

“The new trail bridge has handrails and steel girders that make the bridge safer, stronger, and designed to withstand big snow loads or a large tree strike,” a social media post from Willamette National Forest said . “Diamond Creek Falls is an iconic and beloved western Cascades recreation site visited by many each year.”

The previous bridge had been badly damaged by a large tree falling in 2008 and left much to be desired. In recent years, it had been little more than a sketchy log with broken handrails.

“A huge thank you to the Youth Conservation Corps crew for their hard work and enthusiasm,” the post said, which added that the project was funded by the Great American Outdoors Act.

The bridge can be found by following the Diamond Falls Loop, a 3.5 mile hike that begins at Salt Creek Falls Trailhead. It’s a roughly 1.6 mile hike to a trail junction with signs for Lower Diamond Creek Falls. The trail drops steeply downhill and then crosses the creek on the new bridge to reach the falls lower viewpoint. The loop continues back to Salt Creek Falls' parking area.

Diamond fund.

The Kremlin's Diamond Fund is a collection of Russia's state treasures run by Gokhran - the State Precious Metals and Gems Repository of the Russian Ministry of Finance. Before 1914 the collection was housed in the Winter Palace in St Petersburg, but was evacuated to the Moscow Kremlin after the start of the First World War. The collection was opened to the public in 1967. Among the treasures are the Great and Lesser Imperial Crowns, the Orlov Diamond (which bought by Count Grigori Orlov for Empress Catherine the Great), and the Shah Diamond (which was given to Tsar Nicholas I by the Shah of Persia upon the massacre of the Russian diplomatic mission in Tehran in 1829).

The Diamond Fund is located within the Armoury.  Separate tickets are needed for a specific séance at the Diamond Fund and these can be bought at the same ticket booths in Aleksandrovsky Gardens or from within the Armoury. The Armoury and Diamond Fund are served by a different entrance which is in the Borovitskaya Tower at the end of Aleksandrovsky Gardens. Once inside the tower you will also need to pass through metal detectors before being allowed in. No big bags are permitted, but there is a cloakroom inside the Armoury building.  Visits to the fund are made in 20-minute intervals with the time printed on the ticket.

Now move further to the Diamond Fund of Kremlin to deepen your knowledge of Russian history, whilst exploring the Diamond Fund: a unique collection of Russian jewellers of the 18-20th centuries. The exhibition includes items of gold and platinum, a collection of precious stones and other historical treasuries, Tsars' regalia, the crown of the Russian Empire, Russian and foreign medals, huge gold and platinum bars, giant diamonds and numerous pieces of fine jewellery. The collection was founded by Peter I, who was of the opinion that the most significant precious items should belong to the state, not to the Tsar's family. Originally, the jewels were kept in the Winter Palace and during World War I and were later carried over to the Kremlin. The permanent exhibition in the Kremlin was opened in 1967.

In two quiet and small rooms with velvet carpets the following will open to you in all their splendor:

• The Great Imperial Crown  adorned with 5 000 diamonds of different size and made in the 18th century for the coronation of Catherine the Great.
• Seven “Historic Stones” , among which:

- Orlov Diamond, a nearly 190-carat completely transparent and pure stone that decorates the Imperial gold scepter. - Shah Diamond, in ancient times known as the Prince’s Stone. This nearly 90-carat perfectly pure crystal can tell its own story thanks to the Arabic inscriptions graved on it. - Table Portrait Diamond, the largest existing flat stone of 25 carat in the world. Cut in India, it now adorns a massive golden bracelet with the image of an Emperor. - Ceylonese Sapphire, a magnificent 260-carat deep-blue stone, decorating a 19th-century brooch.

• A collection of  extraordinary large uncut diamonds  – there are over 900 stones!
• 18th and 19th century absolutely stunning decorative jewelry , including diamond, sapphire and ruby brooches, bracelets, earrings and diadems as well as a collection of the 20th century jewelry made specifically for the Russian Diamond Fund by the order of the Soviet government.
• Collection of Platinum and Gold nuggets , many of which have a name. An attentive visitor can easily find Camel, Boot, Horse Head and Mephisto nuggets and the Big Triangle – the biggest gold nugget of 36 kg found in Russia.
