Live Review: Bill Burr sets intimate mood with growth, familiar streak at Fenway Park
If you’re looking for a full, in-depth, play-by-play recap of Bill Burr ’s historic headlining set at Fenway Park, you’re in the wrong place, because burning jokes in print is pretty lame. But what we can tell you is that if you could draw baseball statistics from a comedy show, good ol’ Billy Ballpark showed up with the best centerfield performance the city has seen all season.
In case it hadn’t already been made abundantly clear with months of work-up, the show on Sunday night (August 21) was a big deal for the local comedy scene and those who have grown within it. Not only was it the largest crowd of Burr’s 30-year career, with just around 35,000 people piling into the Jersey Street baseball cathedral to watch the magic unfold, but it was also the largest comedy show in the history of the city of Boston, period. Now, even with the amount of pushback Burr has received over the years from various demographics, it makes perfect sense that he — Boston’s favorite son — would be the one to facilitate and expertly execute such a monumental feat.
But first, it was up to Boston comedy legend Tony V to get things started . Now officially the answer to a trivia question, as he himself quipped soon after being the first to take the stage on Sunday night, the man in the bright pink shirt stayed true to presenting the colors that he’s flown for over 40 years, as he touched heavily on the humor he finds in everyday life, marriage and changing along with the ever-changing times. It was only fitting that such a dedicated servant to the comedy scene such as Tony V was able to kick things off on such a festive night, and the presence and obvious joy he carried himself with in the spotlight poured into the mic and reverberated with waves of laughter stretching from home plate to the warning track.
Closing things up right around the 15-minute mark, Tony V kept the suspense in play as he took on the role of emcee to introduce a trailer for Burr’s upcoming movie Old Dads , which was really just the first layer to the comedic and overall creative growth that Burr put on display after strutting out to a short standing ovation following his intro.
Now, the tour is dubbed Slight Return, which is perhaps a sort of cheeky reminder that there is nothing slight about anything Burr does, and he reminded the Fenway crowd of that quickly as he wasted little time burying deep into the current state of affairs he’s noticed around him. While not political, he took jabs at politicians, and with joyful generosity, handed out scathing takes on topic after topic with the same snark and blunt honesty that has gotten him in as much hot water as it has to the top of the comedy totem pole. His ability to make his crowd the butt of a joke while also making them feel like they’re in on it is a beautiful thing to see still glimmering in his arsenal all these years.
It was the same refreshing balance of disregard and eventual introspective second-guessing that we’ve all come to know love from Burr, with as much disdain for a brand new batch of the most surprisingly relatable things as he’s had in the past. But for a man whose historically fiery personality was only further represented by his red hair back in the day, there was something different about he carried himself this time around, as his salt n’ paprika beard was almost characteristic of a more subdued, calculated, and dare we say upbeat version of Burr, as opposed to the famously irate edition who was forever etched into comedy lore for short-fuse antics such as verbally and tactically decimating a Philly crowd all those years ago (not saying they didn’t deserve it, though.)
For what he’s left behind with his screaming and shouting, he’s made up for in staying a bit longer in the details of long and colorful stories from a lifetime of rough decisions that, in many ways, he continues to work out in real time in front of everyone to see. And with it being a local show, it somehow felt even more intimate and open than it could’ve been in any other setting.
By no means is Burr a goody two-shoes or anything nowadays, because the harsh takes still leave quite a magnificently crafted sting, but there’s just something different about how he handles himself now, and specifically how he handled himself in front of 35,000 loyal, raving hometown fans, which in and of itself made for a great night at Fenway. He was quicker to admit when he was in the wrong, and there was an even breezier, icy wind when he set off on a gloriously delicious tapestry of a tangent that almost inevitably ended in a concession that put him back in with the herd.
It wasn’t bombastic or flashy, but there’s no denying it it was titanic to see Bill Burr hold court as the high king in such a majestic place.
A little soul searching never hurt anyone, and in the case of Bill Burr, his personal metamorphosis into this more laid back but still-mad-at-the-world version of himself is a great thing to see, and we were only so lucky to see it on a Sunday night in August, on full display in New England’s holiest cathedral.

Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks review – Burr strikes out once again
Netflix comedy special Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks will be released on Netflix on July 12, 2022.
By reading my work, you all know that if there is a stand-up comedy special dropping, I want to jump all over it. So today, I will review Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks .
I am holding out hope that what we get to witness today from Burr is a lot better than what we got out of the Bill Burr: Friends Who Kill special at the Netflix is A Joke Festival. I know each of you LOVED my review of that special. However, regardless of how bad that special was, Burr has a chance to get back on the right track with his newest stand-up.
Let me start by saying I have been to Red Rock Amphitheater, which is GORGEOUS. I would love to see a concert or stand-up special at the venue.
Surprise, surprise, Burr starts off with some COVID/pandemic jokes. I am so OVER these jokes and the poor attempt at humor from these last two years. It’s exhausting to see comedians beat us over the head with these jokes and not even attempt to make them different. I understand “you were locked up” like the rest of us, but maybe you should’ve come out with some better material?
Speaking of being locked up, some of these comedians, like Burr, have come out rather stale with their stand-ups post-pandemic. You could chalk it up to rust, maybe they didn’t have it in them to write new material. You could look at maybe he wasn’t able to work the circuit like they usually do. But coming out with special after special, and they both are bad? So maybe, just maybe, you should go back to the drawing board before releasing another one?
Burr played the exact hits as he did in Bill Burr: Friends Who Kill but for an hour instead of ten minutes. He goes after COVID, “woke” people and cancel culture. Rinse, recycle, repeat, and it’s stale, redundant, and boring. Sure, people will probably eat this special up, but if you are a true fan of stand-up comedy, you would watch this and see a man that has lost a step in this space. Some comedians came out of the pandemic hitting home runs, and others like Burr have struck out.
The special did have a high moment when Burr went into detail about the time he went on mushrooms. It transitioned into talking about his childhood and the difference between parents now and parents then. It was a great bit and, for a moment, reminded me of what Burr is capable of doing.
Overall, Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks is another lackluster stand-up special from one of my favorite comedians. Yes, I love Bill Burr, but playing the same hits gets old, and I want some fresh material. I hope we get a bounce back in the future.
What did you think Netflix comedy special Bill Burr: Live at Red Rocks? Comment below.
You can watch this special with a subscription to Netflix.

Bill Burr’s New Stand-up Special Is So Much Better Than Its First 4 Minutes
There’s a short montage in the trailer for Bill Burr’s new Netflix special Paper Tiger that cuts various moments in the special into one brief run of Burr yelling hot-button phrases in mocking tones. “The #MeToo movement!” he yells. “White male privilege! Hipsters! ‘I’m a male feminist!’” “By the way, this is gonna be my last show ever,” the trailer cuts to Burr saying next. The implication of a trailer like that, and of much of the buzz about Burr’s special, is that it is a middle finger to civility, a takedown of PC culture. It’s positioned as one more in the recent run of comedy specials that respond to straw men like “cancel culture” and “safe spaces” by deriding them, pushing back at audiences for their sensitivity and inability to take a joke. Cut into the trailer as it is, Burr’s “This is gonna be my last show ever” line sounds like he’s about to be so provocative that he will never be allowed onstage again.
The opening of Paper Tiger feels like Burr leaning into exactly that proposition. For the first several minutes, he flips quickly through complaints about the overanalysis of jokes, how white women are to blame for the current lamentable state of culture in the United States, and jokes about disabled characters being played by able-bodied actors. In his biggest and most convincingly risky swing, the first few minutes include a bit about Michelle Obama. Burr, in full character as angriest man in the world, is not a Michelle fan. It is an opening segment that dares you to turn the special off in disgust — the kind of opening that makes the special’s closing credit for executive producer Dave Becky utterly unsurprising. It is exactly what the trailer suggests Paper Tiger will be: furious, resentful troll comedy that plays like a toddler yelling the only swear word they know, desperately begging for someone to punish them.
It’d be hard to blame anyone for turning Paper Tiger off at that point. Misbehaving toddlers grasping for parental boundaries are no one’s idea of good company. The thing is that once Burr moves past that part of the special — once he gets through the sexist throat-clearing and the tick-the-box list of rebellious trollish vocab — the rest of the special is different.
It doesn’t look that different on the surface. Burr rags on his wife, calls sexual assault funny, and puts on a stupid voice and mocks male feminists. He makes fun of the idea that culture can be appropriated. He talks, wistfully, about a time where there will be high-quality sex robots so that women are no longer necessary. You could imagine versions of all of these jokes that are absolutely in keeping with the opening several minutes of his set, versions where they’re jokes about victimhood or oversensitivity. In every one of them, though, Burr at some point flips the switch, and unspools the initial premise of the joke.
“Sexual assault is funny,” Burr begins, before telling a story about a woman touching him inappropriately before a show. In his telling it is funny, because he’s quite capable of pointing out the absurdities of the situation. He plays up his futile inability to respond after the act, and how thoroughly he’d be mocked if he tried to explain his discomfort to other men. “Eyyyyy flick my balls!” Burr yells, in consummate character as a clueless asshole who Burr imagines laughing at this story about a man being assaulted by a woman. It becomes a joke about Burr wrestling with the intractable gender politics of vulnerability. It is a joke about how sexual assault has nothing to do with sex and everything to do with power. It’s so far from his opening lines about how #MeToo has robbed men of due process that it feels like the message could’ve come straight off an anti-Trump protest poster.
Aside from the opening several minutes, Burr’s whole set is like that: thoughtful, surprising, introspective. He keeps yelling, of course, as if by bellowing his ideas while striding angrily around the stage he can distract from the fact that he’s delivering jokes so sensitive that some border on sweetness. In one of my favorite sequences of the special, Burr dramatizes the experience of watching a documentary on Elvis together with his wife. While he watches along in interest, he notices that his wife, who’s black, is making frustrated sounds at various moments of racism in the Elvis story. Burr turns his exchange with his wife into a canny stand-in for a clueless white troll arguing with a black interrogator, where Burr takes on the role of MAGA provocateur and his wife is the exasperated voice of the “liberal elite.”
Burr, telling the story of this fight with his wife, describes himself trying to defend Elvis against accusations of racist cultural appropriation. Sure, Elvis may have stolen his dance move from a black person, but where did that guy get it? Why is it “carrying on the tradition” if the move was adopted by a black person, but “stealing” if Elvis does it? A lesser joke could easily end there, passing off that anemic observation as a comedic insight. But Burr goes on, first voicing his wife’s explanation that Elvis reaped endless profit and cultural acclaim while the original innovators did nothing, and then his admission that yes, she is right . He then goes on to spin the joke again, digging deeper into his own humiliation and then landing on a punchline that, almost miraculously, reinstates his ability to control a joke while also mocking his original cluelessness.
Paper Tiger is primarily fueled by shame — by Burr’s own shame in himself and his efforts to be a better person for his family and his own future. Over and over again, in his jokes about his childhood, marriage, his dog, and even his extended bit about sex robots, Burr probes the damage done by his own shame and emotional repression. The first several minutes of the special make it seem as though the paper tiger of the show’s title will be the overly sensitive audience, or snowflake culture, or women in general — scary, toothy beasts who will crumple at the slightest pressure. In the next 50 minutes, though, it’s clear that the paper tiger is Burr, roaring with all his might and then explaining exactly how embarrassed he is by his own fragility. It’s frustrating that Burr feels the need to start by roaring so aggressively, because anyone who showed up to see a tiger is actually getting something subtler and more carefully crafted.

Q&A: Comedian Bill Burr on imposter syndrome, 'racist morons' and more
Comedian and actor Bill Burr is set to play his biggest show in Metro Detroit to date this month at Little Caesars Arena, which is part of his 2024 tour of large venues and theaters.
While he's spent decades honing his observational material that goes from a laid-back guy's thoughts to exasperated outrage, he's had a lot of success over the past two years.
In 2021 the Massachusetts native performed at Red Rocks for a Netflix special that was released in 2022. That same year, Burr became the first comedian to perform at Fenway Park. In 2023 a comedy film that he directed, co-wrote and starred in, "Old Dads," was the most-watched movie worldwide on Netflix for two weeks.
That was not even the only No. 1 Netflix movie that he starred in last year. Burr also had a lead voice role in the Adam Sandler animated film "Leo," which had 34.6 million views in its first six days.
Burr spoke to The Detroit News last month ahead of his March 10 concert at Little Caesars Arena. This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
Q: You're playing Little Caesars Arena, which is your biggest show to date in Detroit. This whole tour is bigger venues. How have they been going?
A: They're pretty nerve-wracking because you got to sell a bunch of tickets, but the shows are always great. And I'm always amazed how much they figured out the sound at these bigger venues where I mean you can take (the audience) on the same sort of ride you can at a comedy club where you can bring them down, you can get them going up.
I just I've been doing these arenas now for a couple years, and I'm used to it but I'm not gonna lie to you, you definitely have imposter syndrome when you first get in there, like why are all these people coming to see me? So the fact that people are showing up is, you know, is amazing. And then also, I don't take the responsibility of that lightly. You can't be doing shows and just be on cruise control. You really gotta make sure everybody gets their money's worth. So that's my big thing every night.
Which is funny because people say 'make sure you're taking it in.' This is stand-up comedy, you can't take it in. If I start sitting back looking at the joke I just told, my timing is off and I immediately start bombing. I can reflect on it afterwards, does that count?
Q: What topics or themes can people expect from this tour? Will this be material for a future special?
A: I'm definitely always examining why I'm such an idiot. My recipe has always been sort of topical things, making fun of myself, talking about my family life, and then also kind of looking where I can get the areas of my life where I could use some improvement. (Laughs)
Which I always think people enjoy and connect to in the crowd because no one's out there like 'what I'm gonna do today, I'm gonna be a bad person.' Nobody's thinking that, but you end up doing things and saying things that you regret or whatever you are, you just keep making the same mistake. And that human experience I find, like just trying to improve yourself, change results or just get out of a rut is very relatable. I think people connect with it and it, makes me feel good hearing them connect with it. So I don't feel alone.
Q: You're definitely an equal-opportunity finger pointer whether you're making fun of yourself or conspiracy theorists, or someone else. For you, everyone's fair game.
A: Or racist morons, yeah. I've been having a fun time examining, you know, things like why people have a real problem with affirmative action but had no problem with segregation? (Laughs) And if it wasn't so painful ... it's hilarious though, the juxtaposition of those two things. I always compare it to like boarding on Delta Airlines where everyone's trying to protect their status, as if it's racial, rather than what row you're sitting in.
Q: So you're in town March 10, and I have to tell you this can be a crazy day in Detroit. It's the same day as the St. Patrick's Parade in Corktown, not too far from Little Caesars Arena. It's basically our St. Patrick's Day, not that it has affected your ticket sales at all at LCA.
A: Listen, I remember one time I went to Australia on Australia Day. If I can survive that, I think I'll be OK in Detroit. I was out in Perth, where Bon Scott from AC/DC is from, those people were like ... I just went into my hotel room. I'm like, I'm not going to be out here with this level of partying going on. It was insane.
Q: Let's stay on the topic of rock and roll. You're a drummer. What's your set-up like at home and how often do you get to play?
A: Oh, I play all the time. Doing standup, playing drums, playing with my kids. All of that keeps me out of my head, which keeps me out of going into a depression. So I play a lot. I have a Gretsch Broadkaster. It's sort of two kits in one. I play either a four- or five-piece set up but I have two rack toms and two floor toms so I can set it up small or big.
I'm back in a Steve Gadd thing right now as far as, like just being so thrilled with his playing and how he approaches solos. Especially nowadays, these kids today, the chops that they have they are just insane, and they play them blindingly fast, but they kind of start the solo at some insane speed and they never stop. It's like speed metal to the 90th power. After a while it all starts to sound the same, like you're falling down the stairs with your drum kit.
When I watch Steve Gadd do his solo it's almost like a stormfront moving through, so there's sort of the initial a little bit of rain and then it gets more intense and then it's the height of it, and it comes back down again. A lot of times he'll start with the groove, winding solo coming out of the groove and I just think it's beautiful.
Q: Later this month you're playing the Patrice O'Neal Comedy Benefit show in New York (a fundraiser for the family of the comedian who died in 2011). I know you were a friend and a fan of his, can you tell us a little about this show?
A: After Patrice died, Comedy Central was going to do a benefit. And my agent goes, do you want to do it? I was like, absolutely. And then the date was getting closer and closer and I was living in Los Angeles and I'm like, hey man I gotta get my flight, what's going on with this benefit? He goes, it went away. And I was like, what do you mean it went away? What went away? Our love for this guy? What went away?
He said basically they couldn't get enough comedians to commit to doing it for the venue they had. So I was like, well there's no way we're not having a benefit and we sort of kicked the ball ... I think because they wanted to film it or something and there were people trying to protect their material for specials, but it was bad. It was bad. That should not have happened. I was talking to Jim Norton ... so we just decided to do it on our own. And it was a huge success. We raised money for his mom and everything. Something I've always hated is when somebody dies, there's like one night for them and they raise money and then you give it to their loved ones. It's like 'all right, good luck the rest of your life.' Patrice was taking care of his mother and she would have been, you know, she was retired, like what's she going to do?
It's like one of those things in this country where we should stop yelling about politicians and we should just show them what we want them to be doing, which is we should be taking care of each other. Especially a mom to lose your son. I can't even imagine the pain of that. So the only thing she should have to deal with is her grief. She shouldn't also be thinking how am I going to make rent or pay my health insurance or something like that.
So we started doing it every year. It's a great thing. It's a nice way to have a little reunion with a bunch of comedians that I used to see all the time when I was coming up. And then also, for younger comics, it's become a thing like people really consider it an honor to be asked. It's one of my favorite things that I do in this business.
Q: Your big project in 2023 was the Netflix comedy film "Old Dads," how was that and do you have any other movies or projects fans should be looking forward to?
A: "Old Dads" was such a thrill because that came out during the (Writers Guild of America) strike and I was just sitting there. Like, I couldn't promote it at all. I was so proud of it and I couldn't promote it ... it was still number one globally on Netflix for two weeks straight and it streamed over 50 million. For the first one out of the gate, I wrote it with my writing partner Ben Tishler and we had an amazing group of actors that helped me along. So I'm very proud of that one.
Q: What do you want your fans who are coming to the Little Caesars Arena show to know?
A: You're gonna have a good time. Put it that way. I have an hour and 40 new minutes. I am ignoring the presidential election this year. I refuse to accept the fact that these two old idiots are the two best choices we have. I feel sad for everyone in this country that was stuck in this loop, and the last thing you need is to listen to another person talking about that stuff. So I'm going to pretty much talk about anything other than that.

Bill Burr Reviews Impressions of Himself
Released on 04/18/2024
Who likes to see an impression of themselves?
It's like you can't just go around calling people fat.
I wish I was still that animated,
I'd get rid of this [censored] covid weight.
Hey, Vanity Fair peoples, I'm Bill Burr,
and today I'm going to be watching people
doing impressions of me.
It's glued. It's glued
to the back of his head.
Bill Burr. It's early Bill Burr.
You do these easy impressions,
you know, you do your thing, you do them easy.
You know, they're easy to do, it's not hard.
You know, do somebody else,
somebody hard, somebody from Boston.
It's too much New York in that one.
Oh no, he is got like the cadence,
but he still has the, Oh!.
They're easy to do.
Now I gotta like shit on another comedian.
You know, it's better than I could do
an impression of him, how about that?
That impression is me if I grew up in like
New York, like Queens or something,
like, Hey, hey. Fucking standing there.
You know, the guys a little bit of that.
Jay should get on with his life.
There's no money in him doing an impression of me.
I would move on to Ben Affleck
or somebody a little better known.
Okay, Shut the fuck up.
Sit down. Okay.
Alright. All right, look.
Okay. All right, look.
All right, you know, I'm not trying to be a dick. Okay?
I can hear [indistinct].
It's too fucking expensive to live here, you know?
Everyone wants to live off,
I wanna live off the L train, you know?
Wow. That guy takes it, man.
That was amazing.
I tell you what, it's weird of me out
people with hair doing it and they're skinny and shit
and I feel like I'm watching one of my old VHS tapes.
That guy is amazing.
I feel like in five years
the L train's just gonna go across country,
you know? Just so people can say they live..
Yeah, I live off the L train.
I'm off the Wilmington, Delaware stop you know?
Oh, it's brutal. It's fucking brutal!
Yeah, he had the whole thing.
He's doing me in like 2004, 2007.
I think I used to own that shirt.
I mean, he did the whole thing. Right?
I used to have it unbuttoned a little more,
back when I was single, you know?
Trying to attract people with my alabaster freckled chest.
That didn't work out for me.
No, that was amazing. Very talented.
I don't ever want to see those again.
I don't wanna be in my head about what it is that I...
I know I lean on the mic stand.
What I'm doing is working for me,
I don't need these people to be pulling it apart, you know?
Take one thread out and then that's it.
Then all of a sudden I care about people. Right?
[Producer] Imitation is the best form of flattery, no?
No. Depends on how it's done.
None of these impressions so far
have me depicted as particularly intelligent,
I can tell you that.
It's me, ah, ah, eh.
Hm. What the fuck?
The Republicans are like,
How did 81 million people vote for Biden?
It's like they didn't vote for Biden, all right?
They voted against Trump.
No, it's like they hated him, you know?
Nah, it's like they hated him
more than like a child molester.
You know? I've never seen anything like it, you know?
Then me ask them why,
you know, like, why do you hate Trump?
It's like, Ah, I think he,
somebody told me that he called Rosie O'Donnell fat.
Yeah, that's fantastic.
These people, they're doing a really good job.
I just was watching the mannerism.
It was really just, this guy and the last guy,
they just, I started remembering gigs
where I recorded myself and would go back,
'cause, you know, making a tape,
trying to get like a agent or something like that.
And during this period of my career,
I couldn't watch myself.
I'm like, What am I doing?
Why am I moving around like that.
That, what he's doing there,
that was all like nervous energy, frustration
with where my career was at and all of this other stuff.
So, yeah. Wow.
These are all like Bill Burr fine wine.
That's a Bill Burr 2004 right there.
Oh God. You know, you're saying all these,
these kind things to me, man.
Now I gotta, now I gotta be nice to you.
That's a high pitch. That's well...
Like a soprano- It's because
it's early Bill Burr.
It's early Bill Burr.
You gotta know.
It's really good. You gotta know.
Yeah, that must have been really, really,
really, really early on.
Yeah, Marina's been breaking my balls for years.
So that was actually a lot nicer
than I thought it was gonna be.
I would add a little hopelessness,
but the euphoria that comes when you just don't care.
When the hell did we meet? Like 99, 2000.
So I think that just got burned into her brain.
So this is like wild, it's like watching my,
like I said, my old standup tapes, which I don't do,
but like, if I were to do that.
These are all very good. Marina did a great job.
Oh dude, fuck it, this guy.
Jay Pharoah, love that guy. [laughing]
This fucking guy, he's- Pharoah.
Fucking Pharoah. His fucking beanie's
hanging off his head
like he's the summer winter for this guy.
How the fuck does it stay on?
Yeah, yeah. What the fuck, is it glue?
Is it Gorilla Glue?
What's he doing? It's glue.
It's glue. It's glue! It's glued
Well I mean, with the face swap, that was pretty wild.
Yeah I mean, that was pretty good. You know?
I have a choppy cadence, I guess.
Summer, winter for this guy.
This is why I didn't wanna do this shit,
'cause I don't wanna know what it is that I do.
I mean, I think that was the clean version of it,
that sounded like young me,
as opposed to beaten down by life that you now see,
which is why I'm wearing my happy blue sweater
to try to offset where I am mentally right now.
I mean, I don't really listen to myself.
It's not like I watch...
I think, no, it sounded good to me.
I think. I mean, I was too weirded out
by the fact that my face was on his face.
Yeah, it was like, I used to have hair.
Oh shit, is he my AI replacement?
AI Andrew Santino was gonna come kill me one night.
The Illuminati liked you better when you had hair,
and then that'll be the end of me.
But that'll be good,
'cause I won't have to go to LAX anymore. Fantastic.
I'm gonna leave my doors unlocked tonight.
We could get off of it.
Bro, nobody gives a fuck. This is podcast me.
Fucking Cordyceps, I barely eat mushrooms as is.
There you go.
See now that makes me feel like he listens to my podcast.
I mean, you want to talk on a podcast
about something else. Everybody's
just losing their mind.
Yeah. That was a good one.
Well he did say talk,
so he got a little New York in there.
I got a lot of New York guys doing impressions of me.
That's pretty cool.
What I liked about this one
is I feel like he was doing, not me doing standup,
he was doing the podcast
where it's just more like you're hanging out
and I'm just like talking
and you're listening for whatever reason,
getting through your cardio
or some awful Southwest flight,
whatever the hell it is you're doing.
That's almost cigar, smoking a cigar with me.
I slouch down the seat like that,
I'm like, Yeah, yeah, it's all bullshit.
All these fucking people out here.
What are you gonna do?. [laughing]
Acting like I'm saying something when I'm not.
Yeah, that was a great one.
I thought this was gonna be a lot more painful.
I'm enjoying this. I was just like, you know,
thought the self-loathing was gonna come up,
but they're actually, these are really funny.
This is your whole act.
Albert Einstein's a genius.
What do you think, Bill?
Um, I don't, is he, is he? Really?
He couldn't even get a decent haircut. What's that?
His mustache, he couldn't trim it.
The guy who had...
He was just, you know,
how'd you come up with your stuff, Albert?.
That's one of my favorite people
I have met since I got in this business.
I love Jon Lovitz. He's old school, old school guy,
like, I can't argue anything that he's saying about my act.
If there weren't so many ass holes in the world,
what would be a great show
would be our phone conversations and our text messages
because that podcast,
which I highly recommend you check out,
'cause Jon was on fire that day trashing me,
it is nowhere near what we do on the phone.
[Producer] You liked Jon's impression of you?
Is that your favorite? I can't pick favorites here,
I gotta run into all these people down at the club,
you're gonna create all this drama.
I liked, for different reasons,
I love Jon because,
you know, he just, he gets like right to it,
he's like a surgeon
and he just goes right for the nerve.
So I like him, 'cause he was being funny,
but he is also really trying to trash me, so.
And he's also a legend, so I love that one.
I love Marina's, 'cause I know her from way back in the day.
Andrew Santino, as far as creepy factor
with the face swap was incredible.
The one kid who came out with the shirt.
I mean, I liked them all, they were really good.
I'm flattered that people that funny
have listened to me enough,
taken the time to listen to whatever it's I'm doing
that they can do an impression.
All right, I just want to thank all the amazing comedians
that took time out of their

Bill Burr bringing 2024 comedy tour to Detroit's Little Caesars Arena
- Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below
Comedian Bill Burr is coming to a super-sized venue in Detroit next year.
Burr will be performing at Little Caesars Arena on March 10 as part of his newly announced "Bill Burr Live" tour, which will travel to 16 cities from February to July.
Tickets will be available to purchase starting at 10 a.m. Friday at three sites: 313Presents.com , LiveNation.com and Ticketmaster.com , with presale tickets arriving at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burr's arena stop in the Motor City is a sign of his current popularity. The acerbic funny man's cranky style has been keeping him busy with his hit "Monday Morning Podcast" and a 2023 tour in Europe and North America.
In October, his latest film, "Old Dads," landed on Netflix at the top spot on the streaming site's movie list. He stars with Bobby Cannavale and Bokeem Woodbine in the story of three later-in-life dads who face challenges raising their young kids in the millennial world.
Burr co-wrote the movie and made his directing debut with it. "Old Dads" currently has a 26% positive score among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but a whopping 86% thumbs-up with audiences.
