Summary [ ]

USS Voyager is being attacked by a ship which just decloaked and then recloaked. They are all surprised when a disruptor they were hit with had a Klingon signature. A hail to the cloaked ship gets no response. They discover it is a D7-class cruiser, retired decades ago. With the age in mind, Voyager uses a metaphasic sweep to locate the ship, and fires.

Aboard the Klingon ship, the cloak has failed. The captain orders his crew to answer the hail to buy time to repair the cloak. When Captain Kathryn Janeway asks them to stand down, they refuse to surrender to an enemy of the Klingon Empire .

Act One [ ]

Janeway tries to explain that the Federation and the Klingon Empire signed a treaty eighty years earlier, but the captain won't believe it. Janeway states that she isn't lying, but even if she were not, the Klingons are no match for her ship. She says to prove it to them she will introduce him to "a Klingon serving on board", referring to B'Elanna Torres , though she doesn't divulge that Torres is half-Klingon. Kohlar agrees.

Once aboard Voyager , Captain Kohlar refuses to answer any questions until he meets Torres. They arrive in the ready room , and immediately he asks about her child. He suddenly wants to return to his vessel, accepting the PADD containing the Khitomer Accords in passing, and even gives his word not to fire on Voyager again.

Back on his ship, he defends the information to his comrades, citing religious scrolls and signs that this is true. Kohlar's second-in command, T'Greth , expresses skepticism over whether the Federation and the Empire are at peace and if Torres' child is the one they're looking for, insisting on further investigation. Kohlar rebukes him, reminding him that their ancestors had nothing but their faith when they began this voyage. He declares that the day of separation has arrived.

Suddenly, the Klingon ship's warp core begins to overload, and Kohlar hails Voyager asking for emergency transport. Tuvok points out to Janeway that the Klingon crew outnumbers Voyager 's, but Janeway decides to beam them aboard despite the security risk. She orders that the Klingons be placed in the shuttle bay behind force fields as a security precaution and once they are aboard, Voyager goes to warp to escape the blast.

Kohlar shows up in the ready room to thank the captain, but Tuvok points out the containment failure was caused by a self-destruct mechanism, not damage. Kohlar explains it is a sacred duty to be here, and there was no other way to get everyone aboard. He explains that his great-grandfather was part of a sect that believed the Empire had lost its way. It told them to journey to a distant region of the galaxy , to find the savior of his people, the kuvah'magh . He has determined that is the unborn child of Lieutenant Torres.

At the staff meeting, Tom Paris and Torres can't believe it. Paris makes jokes, and Torres resents the whole thing. Tuvok is concerned about the security risk, but since the Klingon crew includes civilians Janeway isn't willing to keep them confined and allows them to live in normal quarters with extra security and sensitive areas of the ship off-limits. Kim brings up the problem of the limited amount of quarters aboard, and Neelix suggests that willing officers can double up. Despite Chakotay 's suggestion they would never harm their messiah, she also has round-the-clock security put on Torres.

Act Two [ ]

In the mess hall , Neelix begins serving gagh , and after Captain Janeway consults him, she concludes everything seems to be going well – but not for long. Two Klingons fight over their food, and security has to break them up. Harry Kim , part of the detail, is told by the female Klingon he would make a good mate.

After a tiring day, Neelix returns to his quarters… or rather, Tuvok's quarters since he was the only crewmember who hadn't been paired up with anyone. Tuvok is very put out, in his Vulcan way, preferring solitude however since the alternative is to leave a Klingon family with nowhere to sleep he has no choice to agree. Neelix promises him they'll have 'fun' and decides to teach him Klingon drinking songs. As Neelix makes himself at home nosily, Tuvok is left as exasperated as he can get.

Torres is ambushed during her shift by groups of Klingons who just want to admire her, and has to transport herself to her quarters to avoid them. After all that, the captain asks her to speak with their council of elders, because ten of the Klingons have started a hunger strike.

When she arrives with Paris, the first thing they notice is she is not fully Klingon. T'Greth gets angry, believing she can't be the mother of the kuvah'magh . But Kohlar puts him back in line, saying it is written nowhere that the messiah's blood must be pure Klingon. When Paris says he is the father, T'Greth can't believe it, and storms out. That's when Kohlar asks for her help to stop a holy war.

Act Three [ ]

Back in the briefing room, he explains that, whether she believes her baby is a savior or not, she must help him convince his people it is. His people have suffered enough. He doesn't know whether her child is it, but he wants them to stop looking for it, since they have found nothing but hardship before. He asks for her to review the scrolls and create a "creative interpretation" to present before the council.

They end up studying all night, but she argues for her not being the messiah, as he argues for it. Getting annoyed with her, he asks her if she honors any of their ways, and she says no. But he tries to build common ground; he suggests they say a plea for the dead together, and helps her remember the words from her childhood.

Harry Kim shows up in sickbay with a mark on his cheek. The Doctor doesn't believe he cut himself shaving, and recognizes it as a bite mark, indicative of a Klingon mating ritual. Kim wants to know how he can get out of this, but The Doctor says the only other way is to kill her. Since that's unacceptable, he hands Kim an authorization for intimate relations for an alien species, pending the captain's approval.

Paris accepts

Tom Paris accepts T'Greth's challenge

She tells them exaggerated stories, and Kohlar applauds, but T'Greth is unconvinced. Stories are not the issue, he says; it is whether or not she carries their savior. She recites the scroll well, but T'Greth believes (correctly) it is Kohlar doing the talking, and makes a remark which insults Paris. Since the scrolls also say he should be an honorable warrior, T'Greth challenges him to a fight to the death, and he accepts.

Act Four [ ]

Paris later justifies his decision to the captain, in the observation lounge. He says that if he had said no, they would have had a riot. Torres asks the captain to put a stop to it, and she agrees. She has Kohlar and T'Greth come in and explains to them he is willing to fight, but she is the one preventing him from doing so. T'Greth calls them all cowards, but Kohlar says there is a compromise. Emperor Mur'Eq instituted a non-lethal form of combat so his warriors would kill their enemies and not each other in duels before battle. T'Greth considers this cowardly as well, but when it's pointed out that an honorable leader of the Empire came up with it he finally accepts, since he has no other way to prove Paris' lack of honor.

Kim continues to hide from the female Klingon, officer Ch'Rega . Fortunately, Neelix takes her off his hands by making him appear weak, and threatening to disembowel him if he eats that much food again. The female Klingon now looks with lust at Neelix.

Paris Fights For B'Elanna

Tom Paris in battle

Meanwhile on the holodeck , the competition begins, both combatants wielding blunt bat'leths . However, after much dancing around and swinging to no avail, T'Greth suddenly becomes weak, unable to stand, and collapses. Kohlar identifies it as the nehret , a disease which kills those not fortunate enough to die in battle. After moving him to sickbay, The Doctor identifies a retrovirus which attacks the cytoplasm of the cell . When he scans all of the Klingons, he finds they are all carriers . It is not contagious, except to Klingons. His next examination is of Lieutenant Torres. He finds that both she and the baby have the virus.

T'Greth awakens, and returns to the council. He tells them Torres and her child have the disease, which is not what the scrolls say. He convinces them that Kohlar will not believe them, and they have to take control by force.

Act Five [ ]

Seven of Nine is scanning planets in astrometrics where the Klingons could settle, and T'Greth asks to go along, saying he believes Kohlar. Meanwhile, another Klingon asks Kim how the transporters work, especially the way of transporting so many targets. When the first team is ready for transport, consisting of many Klingons and Chakotay, they all knock out him and Harry Kim.

Tom Paris fires phaser

Paris defends Voyager 's bridge

As Tuvok detects phaser fire and goes with a team, the Klingons try to transport all of Voyager 's crew down to the surface. While a force field was erected around the bridge , they manage to transport crews from engineering and most of the ship. By the time Tuvok catches them, they have beamed onto the bridge. After a fire fight, all of the Klingons are down, and the crew is transported back aboard.

T'Greth wakes up in sickbay, not Sto-vo-kor , because The Doctor synthesized an antivirus from the child's hybrid stem cell antibodies. T'Greth, now fully cured, is surprised, but begins believing again: the child has indeed saved his people.

Tuvok returns to his quarters to find them locked by Neelix. As he is about to use his security clearance to override the seal, Neelix emerges with Ch'Rega following what has obviously been a very intense lovemaking session. Tuvok finds the quarters totally wrecked, and orders Neelix out when he offers to stay and clean.

As he departs, Kohlar gives Torres a bat'leth owned by his great-grandfather as a gift for her daughter and asks for her promise to tell her daughter about him and his people. Later in their quarters, Paris and Torres discuss recent events and if what happened was truly destined given all the "coincidences" involved. Paris suggests they name their daughter Kuvah'magh "just to be safe", since she did indeed become the Klingons' savior and Torres agrees to add it to the list.

Log entries [ ]

  • " Chief engineer's personal log, stardate 54518.2. I've spent the last two days reviewing the Sacred Scrolls in preparation for my appearance before the Klingon council. Kohlar also suggested I prepare a few colorful stories to help win them over. "
  • " Captain's log, stardate 54529.8. While we're helping the Klingons into their new home, life aboard Voyager is gradually returning to normal. "

Memorable quotes [ ]

"I've been studying Klingon etiquette. You shouldn't quarrel over food. Save your strength for battle, to fight those who would challenge you."

"You're going to get yourself killed!" "What makes you so sure I'd lose?" "Oh, please."

" Today would be a very bad day to die. "

" I see fear in your eyes, Human. " " The only Klingon I'm afraid of is my wife after she's worked a double shift. "

" Grant me a warrior's death, I beg of you. " " Sorry, no mercy killings on my bridge. "

" When I say you're limited to two servings of brak't , that's all you get! Do you understand me, ensign? "

" The child cured me? " " Well, I was the one who devised the treatment. " " Doctor. " " Yes, of course, the child cured you. "

" Where are the images of Kahless? Where's your family crest? " " They clashed with the carpet. "

(Harry Kim walks into sickbay with a towel to his cheek) " What happened to you? " " I cut myself shaving. " (Kim removes towel) " Is that a bite mark? " " One of the Klingons attacked me. " " Did you do something to provoke him? " " Not him… Her. And she wasn't provoked, she was… aroused. " " Ah… "

" I salute you, captain. You did more damage to our vessel than my engineer thought. "

(Hailing the Klingon cruiser) " This is Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Federation starship Voyager . Stand down. " " We will not surrender to sworn enemies of the Klingon Empire. " " I think there's been a misunderstanding. The Empire signed a peace treaty with the Federation more than 80 years ago . If I'm not mistaken, it's still in effect. "

" The scrolls say 'You will find me, when two warring houses make peace.' Our people and the Federation, our greatest enemy, are at peace. "

" T'Greth, there is precedent for an honorable compromise. A non-lethal bout, fought with blunted bat'leths . The victory goes to the first warrior to knock his opponent to the ground three times. " " A coward's rule! " " Was the Emperor Mur'Eq a coward?! He was the one who instituted these rules to ensure that his warriors would kill their enemies, and not each other! "

" Gentlemen, I'm afraid Lieutenant Paris had no authority to accept this challenge - there will be no death matches aboard my ship. "

"Is that how you remember it?" "Exaggeration is a big part of Klingon story telling. She's doing great."

"Then maybe you can tell me how to convince a female twice my size that I'm not interested!" "Hmm. You probably can't." "Great."

Background information [ ]

Baby crib mobile

A repainted Hallmark USS Voyager and a Klingon Bird-of-Prey combined with an AMT Klingon D7 battle cruiser to make up the Paris' baby mobile

Story and script [ ]

  • The episode was originally scripted to open with a scene aboard the Klingon cruiser, where Kohlar ascends to the captaincy following the death of the previous captain as a result of the nehret . This scene was filmed on 15 November 2000 , but was cut for time. ( Star Trek Magazine issue 151 )
  • According to Larry Nemecek, the idea was pitched to the writing staff of Star Trek: Voyager during the series pre-production, before "Caretaker" even aired. [1]

Cast and characters [ ]

  • Sherman Howard previously played Endar in TNG : " Suddenly Human " and the Vulcan Starfleet officer Syvar in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode " Shakaar ". Paul S. Eckstein also guest-starred in DS9. He played Limara'Son in " Rocks and Shoals " and an unnamed Jem'Hadar in " The Dogs of War ".

Continuity [ ]

  • This is the twelfth time the crew of Voyager discover a direct connection between the Alpha Quadrant and Delta Quadrant, having previously discovered a wormhole connecting the two quadrants (" Eye of the Needle "), descendants of Human abductees (" The 37's "), descendants of aliens who have visited Earth (" Tattoo "), a Cardassian weapon (" Dreadnought "), Ferengi (" False Profits "), former Borg that were assimilated in the Alpha Quadrant (" Unity "), descendants of Earth dinosaurs (" Distant Origin "), a communications network that extends to the Alpha Quadrant (" Message in a Bottle "), another Federation starship (" Equinox "), another former Borg that was assimilated in the Alpha Quadrant (" Survival Instinct "), and a long-lost Earth spaceship (" One Small Step "). In this episode, they encounter Klingons.
  • Except for the purely Klingon B'Elanna Torres created by the Vidiians in " Faces ", this episode marks the first appearance of flesh-and-blood Klingons in the entire series. Klingons have previously appeared only as holograms (" Real Life ", " Day of Honor ", “ The Killing Game [!] ”, " Flesh and Blood "), virtual constructs in a simulated environment (" Unimatrix Zero "), memories (" Flashback ") or hallucination (" Barge of the Dead ").
  • Janeway mentions a peace treaty having been signed more than eighty years ago and believes it to still be in effect. While this treaty was suspended between 2372 and 2373 , it was reactivated in DS9 : " By Inferno's Light ".
  • The Doctor hands Kim a PADD, telling him its "authorization for [Kim] to engage in intimate relations with a member of an alien species." Coincidentally, it was Kim that failed to get this clearance once before in the fifth-season " The Disease ", in which The Doctor lambasts Kim after he has sex with Derran Tal , exclaiming "you had intimate contact with an alien species without medical clearance?"
  • When Kohlar asks Torres if she helped destroy a Borg vessel, she replies "I suppose." This likely references the events of " Dark Frontier ", where Voyager beamed a photon torpedo aboard a Borg probe, destroying it, or when she led a transwarp conduit collapse while there was a Borg starship in it.
  • The bat'leth given to Torres is the same prop originally made for " The Sword of Kahless ", suggesting that it was already very old when Kohlar's grandfather gave it to him. ( citation needed • edit )
  • This episode was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Hairstyling For A Series.

  • Boldly Coming : Harry Kim attracts the affections of a Klingon woman. When he makes it clear that he's not interested, Neelix takes her off his hands. They then proceed to trash Tuvok's quarters with their lovemaking.
  • Burning the Ships : The Klingons destroy their own ship when they find Voyager , as they were instructed to "cast off the old ways" upon finding the kuvah'magh .
  • The Chosen One : B'Elanna's unborn child is declared to be the kuvah'magh . Kohlar, the one who made this declaration, later reveals that he's not entirely certain if this is true, but it does allow him to put an end to his people's ordeal.
  • Commander Contrarian : T'Greth opposes and argues with Kohlar at every turn—until the end, when he's forced to admit that B'Elanna's child is the kuvah'magh .
  • When Harry tells the Doctor about the horny Klingon woman, Doc immediately gives Harry medical approval to have relations with an alien. That — along with the Captain's permission — is exactly what he failed to seek in a previous case .
  • The antique batleth given to B'Elanna is similar in design to The Sword of Kahless . Also B'Elanna does some exaggerated bragging about her heroic deeds just like Kor did in that episode.
  • Cool Versus Awesome : The one time that Voyager ever battles a Klingon ship, and it's a classic Original Series -era battlecruiser. Ends up a Curb-Stomp Battle due to Voyager being almost a full century more advanced, easily able to penetrate the Klingon ship's cloak and disable it in a scant few shots.
  • Averted as far as the Klingons are concerned, since they love Neelix's cooking. Today is a good day to dine.
  • But Played Straight for the Voyager crew when confronted with some Klingon cuisine . Neelix: Captain! You must try the gagh ! Janeway: I'll pass, thank you.
  • Cut Himself Shaving : Harry walks into Sickbay with a bleeding cheek and claims that he did this before admitting that he was jumped by a horny Klingon woman .
  • Destructo-Nookie : Neelix and a female Klingon wreck Tuvok's quarters when they were having sex together. The Vulcan is clearly struggling to maintain his species' signature Emotion Suppression and not murder Neelix in a blind rage when he finds out.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male : A female Klingon sexually harasses and assaults Harry Kim. When Harry asks the Doctor for help, the Doc tells him that his choices are to mate with her or kill her, and the entire thing is treated as a big joke.
  • Duel to the Death : T'Greth challenges Tom to one so he can prove that he is an honorable warrior. Janeway and Kohlar get it downgraded to "knock the opponent down three times."
  • From a Certain Point of View : The prophecies can be interpreted to mean anything you want them to mean, as B'Elanna points out.
  • Generation Ship : Kohlar's ship took the long way to reach the same area as Voyager . The journey began under Kohlar's great -grandfather, so some four generations have passed since they first set out.
  • Half-Breed Discrimination : T'Greth is furious that the mother of the kuvah'magh is a Half-Human Hybrid , and even more so that the father is human, meaning that their baby is less than half Klingon. Ironically, this more-than-half-humanness ends up providing a cure for the nehret . T'Greth: The prophecy wouldn't lead us to a mongrel child!
  • Ham-to-Ham Combat : Kohlar and T'Greth go several rounds whenever they argue over the prophecy.
  • Heritage Disconnect : Seeing that B'Elanna is estranged from her Klingon heritage, Kohlar coaxes her into exploring it again.
  • Hold Your Hippogriffs : When T'Greth wakes up in Sickbay. T'Greth: Why am I not in Sto-Vo-Kor? Doctor: Because you're healthy as a targ * horse .
  • If I Wanted You Dead... : After disabling his ship, Janeway tries to explain to Kohlar that the Klingons and Federation now have a peace treaty. He isn't convinced, but she adds that his ship is no match for hers, convincing him to at least hear her out.
  • Is That a Threat? : Kohlar: It is possible that the sacred scrolls were scrawled by a madman in a cave. Or perhaps they really were divinely inspired. Either way, they've guided us for over a century. If my people start to believe that the sacred scrolls have led them astray, there may be violence. Janeway: Is that a threat? Kohlar: Merely a fact. You're doing everything you can to get your people home, Captain. That's all I'm doing for mine.
  • Mandatory Line : Seven gets approximately two lines in this episode: one in response to orders from the bridge during the opening battle, and another to let let us know that the Klingons' new planet has two ideal colonization sites.
  • Mate or Die : According to the Doctor, this is what happens when a Klingon wants to mate with someone: either you oblige, or you kill the interested party. Harry finds both prospects unappealing.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane : In the end, B'Elanna's baby does fulfill all the prophecies: providing the means to cure the Klingons' illness ("stronger than disease") and heralding their arrival at a new homeland. Of course, there were deliberate efforts make sure those prophecies were 'fulfilled', and the Doctor has to be restrained from pointing out that he was actually the one to develop the cure from the baby's biology. Still, the fact that things worked out the way they did is enough of a coincidence to give even Tom and B'Elanna a moment's pause.
  • Miles Gloriosus : B'Elanna gives some exaggerated boasts of her deeds according to Klingon tradition.
  • No Challenge Equals No Satisfaction : Sorta. T'Greth isn't happy about fighting a duel in which nobody is supposed to die, but Kohlar disagrees. Kohlar: T'Greth, there is precedent for an honorable compromise. A non-lethal bout, fought with blunted bat'leths. The victory goes to the first warrior to knock his opponent to the ground three times. T'Greth: A coward's rules! Kohlar: Was the Emperor Mur'Eq a coward?! He was the one who instituted these rules to ensure that his warriors would kill their enemies and not each other!
  • No Guy Wants an Amazon : Harry catches the eye of a Klingon woman who's both larger and much more aggressive than he is, and spends much of the episode trying to avoid her. Luckily for him, Neelix is more than willing to replace Harry in her affections.
  • No-Sell : A D7 battlecruiser was a formidable warship equal to the best starships the Federation had in service... in the 23rd century. By the middle-late 24th the ship is so woefully outclassed by the Intrepid-class Voyager (which fulfills much the same role as a scout for Starfleet that the Bird of Prey did for the Klingons of Kirk's day) that it takes only two shots to disable them once their Invisibility Cloak has been nullified. invoked
  • Oh, Crap! : The look on poor Harry's face (see trope image) when one of the Klingon women says she's chosen him as a mate.
  • Ominous Klingon Chanting : By the council of the Klingon elders, anticipating the coming of the Kuvah'magh .
  • Reasonable Authority Figure : Kohlar is only interested in what's best for his crew. He genuinely doesn't seem to care whether the prophecy his ship has been chasing for four generations is true or not, he just wants to find a home for them. His reasonableness and willingness to negotiate a workable solution quickly wins Janeway over. Kohlar: We've travelled more than thirty thousand light-years in search of this savior, and in more than one hundred years we've found nothing except hardship and isolation. When I saw Lieutenant Torres, that she was with child, I didn't know if I was looking at the mother of the kuvah'magh or not. But I did know I was looking at an opportunity to end this wasteful journey. Paris: Then you don't believe in the Prophecy? Kohlar: What I believe is that my people have suffered enough. If they accept your child as the kuvah'magh you'll hold great influence over them. We can find a suitable planet. You can tell them it's their new home and they'll follow you there.
  • Remember the Dead : Kohlar re-introduces B'Elanna to a Klingon ritual of pleading to Kahless on behalf of the dead. Kohlar: The dead can't rest in Sto-vo-kor if the living don't honor their memory.
  • See the Invisible : The Klingon warship is antiquated enough for Voyager to locate it through its cloak.
  • Set Swords to "Stun" : Tom and T'Greth fight their duel with blunted bat'leths, since Janeway won't let them kill each other with the real deal.
  • Sharpshooter Fallacy : When Kohlar tries to fit B'Elanna's Back Story in with prophecy, she points out that you could do that for almost anyone if you're willing to interpret enough. The prophecy calls for noble blood, and Kohlar points out that almost everyone does if you go back far enough . It calls for someone born off-world, with a Dark and Troubled Past , but you could say that about a lot of Klingons. It calls for a great warrior who'd killed ten thousand enemies, and you can justify that, if you give her credit for enemies destroyed by Voyager as a whole. (As she herself admits, there was the time she torpedoed a Borg Diamond to smithereens .) It's worth noting that Kohlar agrees with her, but is more interested in building a narrative that he can sell to his people than in reaching a logical conclusion.
  • Strike Me Down : T'Greth begs Tom for a Mercy Kill after he's been phaser-stunned while already dying of the nehret . Janeway won't let it happen, though. T'Greth: Grant me a warrior's death. I beg of you. Janeway: Sorry. No mercy killings on my bridge.
  • This Is Gonna Suck : Tuvok is less than thrilled to learn that he and Neelix are bunking together. "There must be some mistake."
  • Tranquil Fury : Tuvok is really trying not to strangle Neelix after his quarters are destroyed. "Just go , Mr. Neelix."
  • Try Not to Die : B'Elanna goes against the traditional Klingon Badass Boast : "Today would be a very bad day to die."
  • Villain of the Week : Naturally we have the requisite "Klingons try to take over the ship" crisis.

The Cast of Star Trek Voyager – Then and Now

Share the Universe!

The Star Trek Voyager is the fifth series and fourth sequel to Star Trek: The Original Series. It originally aired on the then United Paramount Network (UPN) from January 1995 to May 2001 and lasted 172 episodes spanning over seven seasons.

The pilot episode, Caretaker , was actually shot in September 1994, meaning the cast had worked together on set for more than six years, making them almost family.

The series was a big hit as it introduced new ideas to the franchise, like the first female captain of a Starfleet vessel, new alien species, and the use of CGI technology for the first time on Star Trek, which rendered better space shots.

The show’s success meant the cast also became household names, and it was a defining period in their careers.

Because we (Trekkies) were stranded right there with them in the uncharted Delta Quadrant, 70,000 light-years away from the Earth, we became invested in their lives as well. We were together for an entire seven seasons, trying to find the way back to Earth through seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Therefore, it should not be a surprise that we have been keeping up with them beyond Star Trek: Voyager. Here is what they have been up to.

Voyager Cast on a panel

Katherine Kiernan Maria Mulgrew (Kate Mulgrew)

She played Captain Kathryn Janeway, Commander of the USS Voyager . The first-ever female captain to be featured in a Star Trek series and the lead character.

Captain Katherine Janeway

During the Voyager filming, Kate was also featured in animations like Aladdin as Queen Hippsodeth’s voice and Gargoyles as Titania. She has been cast in several other animations since Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters , Infinity Train, and other cameo roles. She has also done voice-overs for a host of video games, Star Trek-related and otherwise.

Her television presence is also flourishing as she has been cast in some highly-rated shows like Mr. Mercedes , Warehouse 13 , Mercy , The Black Donnelly’s, and Orange Is the New Black . She won the Critics’ Choice Television Award for the Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2014 for her role as Galina Red Reznikov in Orange Is the New Black . The same year she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in the Primetime Emmy Awards for the same role.

Since then, she has also featured in a number of movies, documentaries, short films, and Broadway productions.

She is still involved in expanding the Star Trek franchise and has been cast in the upcoming animated series Star Trek: Prodigy, currently in production for Nickelodeon.

Personal Life

Kate was finalizing her divorce with Robert Egan, with whom they had two children when the Voyager was first airing in 1995. She was still searching for the daughter she had placed for adoption earlier in her career as a single terrified actor. She got married to Tim Hagan in 1996, but they later divorced in 2014. She reconnected with the daughter she had placed for adoption in 2001.

Robert Adame Beltran

He played Commander Chakotay, the Native American First Officer of the USS Voyager. He reluctantly assumes the position after his crew of Maquis rebels is forced to join forces with the USS Voyager when they are both stranded in the Delta Quadrant.

Commander Chakotay

Robert won the Outstanding Actor in a Television Series at the Nosotros Golden Eagle Awards in 1997 after getting nominated for Outstanding Television Series Actor in a Crossover Role at the NCLR Bravo Awards the previous year.

Beltran would get nominated again in 1998 and 1999 at the same awards, now renamed the American Latino Media Arts (ALMA) Awards for the same role in the category Outstanding Individual Performance in a Television Series in a Crossover Role.

Playing Chakotay remains his most celebrated television presence, although he has made cameo appearances in many TV series, films, and documentaries since then. He has appeared in a few movies and is also featured in Star Trek Voyager’s game : Elite Force .

Robert lives in Los Angeles and is a big supporter of the National Down Syndrome Society. He even hosts an annual Galaxy Ball as a fundraiser for the Down’s Syndrome Association of Los Angeles to connect those afflicted with the condition and their families with resources and support systems. He says he is driven to do something because his youngest sibling has down syndrome and knows what the children go through without professional help.

Roxann Dawson

She was Lieutenant B’Elanna Torres, the Klingon-Human hybrid who got to be Chief Engineer of the USS Voyager after the unplanned merger of Voyager and Val Jean crews in the Delta Quadrant. She remains relevant throughout the series for many reasons, the least of which is her long courtship with Lieutenant Junior Grade Thomas Eugene Paris, which leads to marriage and their daughter Miral Paris’s birth.

Roxann Dawson

Dawson got to direct two episodes of the Star Trek: Voyager while still a part of the cast: Riddles and Workforce , then went on to direct 10 episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise. This means she was already a director and an actor while shooting the Voyager.

She won an ALMA Award in 2001 for Outstanding Achievement in a Television Series for her role in the Star Trek Voyager after being consistently nominated in different categories in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000. She was also involved in other award-winning during this period, like the Foto Novelas, which took ALMA Awards in 1998 for Outstanding Latino Casts.

She has since focused on directing several episodes from a host of TV shows, documentaries, and films under her belt. In 2008 she was nominated in 3 separate awards, the ALMA, Hugo, and NAACP Image Awards, for her directed episodes in Heroes.

Dawson has two adopted daughters, Emma and Mia (who was adopted from China), from her marriage to Casey Biggs before the voyage. She is currently married to casting director Eric Dawson.

Robert Duncan McNeill

He played Thomas Eugene Paris, a disgraced pilot from a renowned family who gets a chance to redeem himself when assigned to spy on the Marquis rebels. He will proceed to be the helm engineer and supporting medic of the USS Voyager.

Tom Paris

After the Star Trek Voyager, he has featured in the Voyager video game ‘Elite Force ’ and Star Trek Online. He has also acted in a couple of episodes in TV shows. He focused on directing and producing and has quite a number of films and TV shows to his credit. Most notable is the series Chuck which he was involved in all 73 episodes.

Robert lives in Los Angeles and has three children, Taylor McNeill, Kyle McNeill, and Carter Jay McNeill.
