Broads Tours
Broads tours is located in Wroxham at the heart of the Norfolk Broads. Our fleet of passenger trip boats offer a fabulous opportunity to discover the Broads from the comfort of one of our well equipped vessels.
A full commentary from the skipper will explain the origins of the Broads, identify points of interest along the way and show you the abundance of local wildlife as it comes into view. The crew will take care of you whilst you are on board where tea and coffee and other refreshments are available together with a fully licensed bar.
Our timetable of river trips runs until the 31st October.
River trips are either 1 1/2 hours or 2 hours.

A limited number of manual wheelchair users are welcome on all of the craft but booking is advisable. Toilets are also available on board.

Access Statement
We aim to provide an excellent service to all visitors. We have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement, if you have any queries please do call on 01603 782207.
Pre-Arrival
- Information regarding sailing times, prices etc can be found on our website or promotional leaflet
- Bookings can be made online and enquiries can be made via email or telephone.
- The local village centre is 250m from reception.
- The main bus stop is 250m from reception.
- Hoveton & Wroxham railway station is less than 10 minutes walk away. There are taxis at the station.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- There is one entrance to the car park off the A1151.
- There are 3 sign marked spaces designated for disabled parking near the customer toilets and boarding points for the passenger trip boats. These spaces are line marked. These spaces are pay and display and are adjacent to the pay and display machine.
- Reception/Booking office is at the bridge end of the car park.
- There is a separate coach parking area.
Main Entrance & Reception
- Our Reception & Booking office is at the bridge end of the car park and has contoured brick weave paving leading to a patio of tiles this patio then leads to the front door.
- Double doors each 750mm wide giving a 5m access.
- There is a 180mm flood threshold and assistance can be given if required.
- General ticket sales are from a window.
- Further information and interpretation of these trips can be obtained from the large information board or assistant at the window.
Public Areas – WC
- W.C. block is situated approx halfway along the car park adjacent to the coach park and the designated disabled parking spaces.
- Access is gained to the undercover waiting area and toilet block via a ramp measuring 1300mm in width and offering the added support of handrails all the way round at a height of 1100mm. Access to the toilet block is gained via the main door measuring 800mm. The surface is at a single non-slip level throughout.
- Disabled Toilet offers a floor space of 2000mm x 600mm, toilet height is 180mm, sink at 280mm and there are 5 handrails at various heights and of different configurations, there is also a pull cord in case assistance is required. (Please note that there is also a baby changing table situated in the disabled toilet with nappy disposal facilities).
- The ladies toilets offer four WCs and 3 low-level basins, with the gents having two WCs, three urinals and two low-level washbasins.
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
- A licensed cafe is on-site [not operated by Broads Tours] where meals, coffee and refreshments are available [in season].
- Light refreshments and a licensed bar are available on all of the passenger trip boats.
- Refreshments are available from the bars situated on the lower decks of all trip boats. Assistance can be given to carry drinks etc upstairs upon request.
- A launderette is close by [across the road from reception].
- There is not a shop on site.
- A range of shops are available in the main village approx 500m walk over the bridge.
Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting , Clubs, Entertainment
- The Queen of the Broads, Vintage Broadsman, Cordon Rouge passenger trip boats are available for private charter for parties, corporate functions etc. See individual boats access details.
Self-drive Day Launches
- Tickets are available online or from the dedicated window at the booking office.
- Standard diesel day boats are available that seat up to 8 people and are available by the hour up to a 9 – 5pm full day. Minimum hire period of 2 hours (3 hours in school holidays and other busy periods).
- These boats are moored stern-on in front of the office building on the main river. The quay heading is constructed of level concrete.
- One of the self-drive standard dayboats has had a lift for wheelchair users fitted. This boat is available to pre-book for a minimum of 3 hours, suggested times 10am-1pm or 2pm – 5pm. Please note the maximum weight on the lift is 350kg. This boat is suitable for up to 5 people.
- Our other self-drive launches are not suitable for wheelchair users, however, the boats can be moored side on and assistance is given to people with some restricted mobility.
- Parking on main pay and display car park.
- Day cruisers that have a small WC, two ring hob and sink are available for a full days hire only.
Passenger Boats
- Tickets are available online or from the designated passenger boat window at the booking office.
- Two of our passenger boats are capable of carrying a limited number of manual wheelchairs. Wheelchair users must book in advance to avoid disappointment.
- Wheelchair users will be boarded first where possible. Please make yourself known to the skipper of the vessel so that we can give appropriate assistance. There are priority seating areas for wheelchair users on the passenger craft that are able to take manual wheelchairs.
- The crew will always be in a position to assist all customers to board as required, please note that for those with limited mobility you will be required to navigate up and down stairs to board. Please refer to the virtual tours online for more information.
- Boarding points are near the coach park and customer toilet block.
- Well behaved dogs are permitted onboard, provided they are kept on a lead and are not allowed onto the seats.
Queen of the Broads
- This boat is moored against a floating pontoon.
- There is an L-shaped step unit 1000mm wide on the pontoon comprising of two steps. Steps are 200mm high and 460mm deep and have a non-slip surface on the tops; there is a handrail each.
- To reach the lower deck there are 5 steps 180mm high, 220mm deep constructed of metal chequer there is a handrail on each side.
- A doorway of 780mm leads to the lower there is a small flood threshold.
- The lower deck toilet doorway is 500mm.
- To reach the upper deck passengers have to descend the steps above and then ascend 10 steps, 190mm high, 200mm All steps covered with a non-slip surface. There is a handrail on each side.
- To reach the enclosed saloon on the upper deck there are double doors, 1290mm wide.
- The upper deck toilet doorway is 700mm wide.
- Manual wheelchair access is via a hydraulic lift to the upper deck. Assistance can be given to push the wheelchair into position.
- Wheelchair users have access to the upper deck area and the enclosed front upper saloon only.
Belle of the Broads
- Access onto the pontoon is via a removable hinged chequer plate ramp that rises and falls with the Ramp is 1000mm wide.
- There is a three-step unit leading to the Steps that are 200mm high, 255mm deep the unit has non-slip tread and is 970mm wide.
- To reach the lower deck there are 6 steps down, steps are 180mm high, 230mm deep. Steps are non-slip with a handrail on each side.
- There is a toilet in this Doorway 500mm wide.
- The door into the lower saloon area is 650mm.
- To reach the upper deck passengers first descend the steps detailed above then ascend 10 Steps are 180mm high, 230mm deep. All steps are non-slip.
- To reach the enclosed saloon there are double doors, doorway 1400mm wide.
- The toilet doorway in the saloon is 550mm.
- Wheelchair users have access to the upper deck area and the enclosed upper saloon.
Vintage Broadsman
- The Vintage Broadsman is moored against a level concrete quay There is a two-step removable unit leading to a hydraulic platform. Steps are 230mm high and 310mm wide and are covered with non-slip rubber. The unit is 600mm wide and has a handrail on each side.
- The hydraulic platform has non-slip rubber and is 700mm wide and has a handrail on each side. This hydraulic lift leads to a doorway onto the aft deck. Doorway 800mm wide.
- Access to the upper deck is via 4 steps. Steps are 190mm high and 300mm There is a handrail on each side. The entrance to the upper deck is 780mm wide.
- Access to the lower deck is via 5 steps. Steps are 230mm high and 300mm There is a handrail on each side. The entrance to the lower deck is 840mm wide.
- Ladies and gents toilets are situated on the aft deck. Doorways to the toilets are 730mm wide.
Cordon Rouge
- The Cordon Rouge is moored against a concrete quay heading – there is a concrete slope up to the entrance of the boat.
- Entrance to the boat is gained via a hydraulic lift unit 850mm.
- There are two steps down onto the aft deck.
- There is a further three steps to the lower.
- Access to the top open deck is via eight steps, 210mm high, covered with non-slip rubber. There are handrails on each side, handrail 740mm from steps.
- Toilets accessible from this area.
- Doors are- Ladies 700mm and Gents 600 mm wide.

Ébène Car Park : 100% d’occupation après un démarrage en dents de scie
L’heure du bilan a sonné, quatre ans après la mise en opération de l’Ébène Car Park, situé à l’entrée sud de la cybercité. Construit par Laxmanbhai & Co. (Mauritius) Ltd, ce bâtiment de 6,000 m² à 8 niveaux est destiné à abriter jusqu’à 934 véhicules, dont 73 à l’extérieur. Après un démarrage des dents de scie, la compagnie Ébène Car Park Ltd peut se targuer d’avoir loué la totalité des places de stationnement disponibles à des entreprises et des particuliers.
Devant le développement rapide qu’a connu la cybercité d’Ébène depuis la fin des années 2000, et à une époque où l’usage de la voiture apparaît comme la norme sociale, les pouvoirs publics sont confrontés au cercle vicieux des stationnements sauvages qui n’a eu de cesse de s’amplifier et de causer énormément de désagréments aux piétons et aux automobilistes, jusqu’à que la police change son fusil d’épaule, en 2019, dans sa lutte contre cette pratique, très répandue sur les trottoirs et le long des routes où un véhicule était garé en moyenne tous les dix mètres. L’anarchie qui régnait naguère a quasiment disparu… quand bien même cette tendance tend à s’inverser depuis quelque temps (voir plus loin).
Compte tenu de l’accroissement du trafic routier et du manque d’aires de stationnement légales, l’aménagement de l’Ebene Car Park et d’autres parkings, « à la portée de toutes les bourses », pourrait bien avoir contribué à endiguer le phénomène, en dépit d’un baptême du feu timide. La mise en opération du parc, en août 2020, n’avait pas produit l’effet escompté sur les automobilistes au départ. Hormis les 73 places de parking situées à l’extérieur du bâtiment qui avaient toutes trouvé preneurs à la faveur d’une location mensuelle de Rs 2 700, sur les 861 places disponibles à l’intérieur, seuls 400 locataires environ avaient souscrit à une location mensuelle de Rs 4 000 en 2022. Les choses ont bien changé depuis, si l’on en croit une source, qui soutient que les 934 places de parkings ont trouvé preneurs depuis belle lurette.
« Il faut préciser que l’ouverture du parc a été plombée par les deux confinements et le déploiement en masse des employés au télétravail. Après un départ en dents de scie, un bon nombre de grosses entreprises n’ont pas lésiné sur les moyens pour louer des emplacements à leurs employés. Le nombre de souscriptions qui laissait à désirer, au départ, en ce qui concerne les particuliers, a connu une hausse vertigineuse au fil du temps, car ils se sont rendus compte des nombreux avantages que procurent un tel investissement », confie notre interlocuteur.
En sus d’être idéalement situé à l’entrée sud de la cybercité, avec l’aide de ses caméras de surveillance (CCTV), de son système d’identification à distance et de contrôle d’accès, reconnaissant les souscripteurs à travers un sticker, les locataires peuvent garer leurs véhicules sans tracas. Parallèlement, l’économie d’énergie et le développement durable ont fait partie du cahier des charges du parc de stationnement. En ce sens, un système de minuterie illuminant le parking en lumière LED a été aménagé pour économiser de l’énergie. Un service de navettes assuré par Rose-Hill Transport Ltd est aussi attaché au parc de stationnement, moyennant un paiement de Rs 15 à l’unité ou opter pour un abonnement mensuel de Rs 500. « Le succès est tel que les automobilistes se bousculent au portillon pour souscrire aux places de parking, un tarif qui, naguère, faisait tiquer de nombreux salariés du quartier d’affaires. Nous avons une longue waiting list en cas de désistement », souligne une source.
Les recettes publicitaires découlant des panneaux géants enveloppant les bâtiments constituent une manne financière non négligeable pour Ébène Car Park Ltd, qui percevrait entre Rs 300 000 et Rs 400 000 à chaque trimestre.
Exit l’organisation d’événements sur le toit
N’était-il pas prévu que le toit de l’Ebène Car Park se mue en un lieu incontournable pour les fêtards ? C’était l’objectif que s’était fixé la société qui gère le bâtiment. « Si vous voulez être dans le cœur des réjouissances nocturnes à Ébène, dites-vous bien qu’on projette de louer le toit du bâtiment pour l’organisation d’événements sous des marquises. Le toit aura l’avantage d’offrir aux gens qui viendront profiter du bon temps de belles vues sur la cybercité tout en ayant la garantie d’avoir des places de parking sécurisées », avait fait ressortir Ebène Car Park Ltd lors de l’inauguration du site. Sauf que cette dernière a été contrainte de faire marche arrière après que les autorités, dont le ministère du Commerce et la mairie de Quatre-Bornes, ont refusé de lui délivrer un permis d’opérer. L’implantation d’un morcellement, où les maisons poussent comme des champignons, à quelques encablures du parc automobile constitue l’obstacle qui entrave le projet événementiel sur le toit du site. Ebène Car Park Ltd compte proposer prochainement d’autres offres, telles qu’une conciergerie automobile, une cafétéria, une station de lavage pour automobiles et des espaces à louer. En sus d’être le tout premier parc de stationnement à Maurice alliant nouvelles technologies et écologie, des bornes de recharge pour les voitures électriques sont en train d’être installées.
L’implantation d’un morcellement à quelques encablures du parc constitue l’obstacle qui entrave le projet.
L’ouverture du fly-over d’Ébène : une certaine fluidité du trafic en direction des villes-sœurs et vice-versa
Le fly-over d’Ebène, qui vise à améliorer la circulation routière le long des autoroutes M1 et M3 et au rond-point de la Cybercité, a été inauguré, lundi, par le ministre des Infrastructures nationales et du Développement communautaire, Bobby Hurreeram, avant d’être ouvert à la circulation mercredi. Les automobilistes qui ont emprunté la nouvelle infrastructure aux heures de pointe ont constaté une certaine fluidité du trafic en direction de Rose-Hill et Beau-Bassin, bien que le statu quo demeure en ce qu’il s’agit de la circulation en contrebas pour les véhicules se rendant, notamment, à Belle-Rose.
Les regards étaient surtout braqués sur la partie du fly-over surplombant le rond-point existant de la Cybercité qui perturbait la libre circulation de Rose-Hill vers l’autoroute M1/M3 et vice-versa. Le fait que les usagers sortant de Rose-Hill soient dirigés directement vers l’autopont, sans passer par le centre d’Ébène, constitue une avancée significative. Le trafic en provenance de l’autoroute M1 (direction Nord) de St Jean menant à l’autoroute M3 exerçait également une pression qui semble s’être atténuée avec la mise en œuvre de ce projet. Grâce à cette nouvelle infrastructure, les automobilistes qui sortent de Quatre-Bornes n’auront plus à emprunter le rond-point d’Ébène pour avoir accès à l’autoroute Terre Rouge/Verdun. Reste à savoir si les semaines à venir renforceront ce bilan.
