Today, Måneskin continue their skyrocketing rise around the world with the announcement of their  RUSH!  World Tour – which will see the band headline arenas in North America, South America, Japan, Europe, UK & Ireland, and their first ever shows in Australia, in Autumn / Winter 2023, bringing their raucous live set and phenomenal new live staging and astounding lighting that the band are currently touring in Europe. In the US, where last year the band embarked on their first headline North American tour that sold out 100,00 tickets across 25 shows, and saw the band receive their first Grammy nomination in 2023 for Best New Artist, Måneskin will be kicking it up a notch and returning to headline arenas across the US and Canada, including a landmark show at New York’s historic Madison Square Garden. After an incredible welcome in South America in 2022, Måneskin will return later this year, visiting Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Colombia for the first time. In Japan, where the band more than made their mark in 2022 with an incredible exclusive show and stand-out set at Summer Sonic, Måneskin will be returning to headline arenas in the country for the first time. The rock sensations will also be making their way down under to Australia for the very first time for shows in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The tour is bookended with shows in Germany and France, and the UK and Ireland, where the band will head to Manchester and Dublin for the first time. 

The  RUSH!  World Tour will follow on from Måneskin’s ongoing  LOUD KIDS  World Tour which continues to see them sell out shows globally and play to over 500,000 fans. With over 20 sold out shows still to come, the  LOUD KIDS  tour continues tomorrow and travels across the band’s native Italy before journeying to countries across Europe including Spain, Denmark, Hungary, the UK and more.  

The full throttle Måneskin live show has already travelled to over 25 countries between Europe, North America, South America and Japan in 2022, saw the band go back to their beloved Rome for an extra special sold out show at the historic Circo Massimo with 70,000 tickets sold, and between headline shows the band dominated festival stages around the world including Coachella, Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza (Chicago, Paris and Sweden), Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring, Rock Wertcher, Summer Sonic in Japan and more. 

Before hitting the road again for the  RUSH!  World Tour, the band will play 5 special stadium shows in their beloved Italy in July with more than 220.000 tickets already sold. And alongside both tours, Måneskin will be commanding stages at Glastonbury and Primavera Sound this summer. 

The  RUSH!  tour follows the band’s new album of the same name, released in January 2023 to global acclaim and chart domination, reaching #1 in 15 countries and Top 5 in 20 countries, and garnering over 800 million global album streams, adding to the band’s impressive 7.3 billion global artist streams.

Artists Announced for the Yamaha Grand Plaza Stage

Artist lineup includes TobyMac, Lawrence, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Jamison Ross

Thursday and Friday nights at The 2023 NAMM Show will come alive with a two-night concert series for all attendees which will evoke the musical passion guests have convened to celebrate. Presented by Yamaha, performances kick off on Thursday, April 13, at 6 p.m. with a Night of Worship from TobyMac for all to experience GRAMMY award-winning, live worship music. On Friday, April 14, at 6 p.m., the Yamaha All-Star Concert on the Grand will honor its NAMM tradition by providing awe-inspiring musical performances. Legendary Greg Phillinganes will emcee the night as artists Lawrence, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and Jamison Ross take the stage.

The performance lineup for Thursday, April 13, includes the following:

• TobyMac: With more than 16 million units in career sales and a whopping seven GRAMMY Awards, TobyMac's career continues the fast track. His RIAA Certified Gold studio album,  ***THIS IS NOT A TEST*** , garnered a GRAMMY and Billboard Music Award nomination while debuting at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200. Each of his six studio solo projects have achieved Gold certification, a first for any artist on his label, Capitol Christian Music Group. 

The performance lineup for Friday, April 14, includes the following:

• Lawrence : Clyde Lawrence and Gracie Lawrence have been writing songs and listening to countless Stevie Wonder, Randy Newman, and Aretha Franklin records in their family's New York City apartment since they were little. After years of playing together, they officially created Lawrence, an eight-piece soul-pop band of musician friends from childhood and college.
• Big Bad Voodoo Daddy : Big Bad Voodoo Daddy's efforts to promote and revitalize swing music have taken shape as much more than a simple tribute. Taking inspiration from the creators of this uniquely American art form, the band's original horn-infused music and legendary high-energy show introduce the genre to a new and younger generation while remaining cognizant and respectful of the music's rich legacy.
• Jamison Ross : Jamison Ross is a GRAMMY-nominated Soul artist whose music emanates from the intersection of R&B, gospel, and blues supported by modern production – contemporary soul. Jamison's most recent project is his first Affective Music release and is influenced by some of history's greatest Soul singers, including Marvin Gaye, Rance Allen and Al Green.

Saturday afternoon will feature a celebration of MIDI@40 on the Yamaha Grand Plaza Stage. Beginning at 3:15pm, the afternoon will celebrate 40 years of MIDI technology with a performance by Resonant Alien, the new band featuring Brian Hardgroove and DJ Johnny Juice of Public Enemy, awards and honors. Plaza Midwood Historic District – Self-Guided Walk

Plaza Midwood started in 1903 with a handful of blocks in the vicinity of today’s Fuel Pizza (1501 Central Avenue). In 1912, British-born landscape architect Leigh Colyer laid out The Plaza with its elegant median, and also the parallel avenues of Thomas and Nassau. Developers added more streets through the 1930s, many in a subdivision called “Midwood.”

The neighborhood lay far from downtown and took decades to fill out, resulting in a rich variety of architectural styles — Victorian, Bungalow, Colonial, Tudor and more. This tour explores The Plaza and Thomas Avenue, whose well-preserved 1910s and 1920s dwellings form the heart of the Charlotte’s official Plaza Midwood Historic District . 

What You’ll See

A bookstore with an airplane inside. One of the South’s best-preserved Victorian houses. The gracious, tree-shaded VanLandingham Estate. Lotsa bungalows and colonials and tudor revival houses – intermingled with duplexes and quadraplexes.

The tour begins at Plaza Midwood Library, 1623 Central Avenue at The Plaza.

If you’re arriving by car, you can usually find parking at Plaza Midwood’s Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branch (1623 Central Avenue). Please help our mom-n-pop stores — don’t park in a business’s lot unless you are buying something there.

Please stay on the public sidewalk. Except for Book Buyers and Plaza Midwood Library, none of these places are open to visitors.

Length?  About 1.5 miles. If you are a brisk walker, that’s maybe 40 minutes. If you stroll, amble or dawdle (all are much encouraged), it’ll take longer.

The Tour at NBC Studios takes you on an exciting journey through NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center where broadcast television was born, showcasing where some of today’s most popular shows are made, right in the heart of Manhattan.

The Tour features behind-the scenes access to NBC’s most iconic television studios and video exhibits. The Tour showcases everything involved in television production and highlights the legacy of NBC in Rockefeller Center.

Guests will have the opportunity to tour some of the studios where iconic shows like Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and NBC News programs are produced and taped.

The Tour at NBC Studios begins and ends at The Shop at NBC Studios, where you will find exclusive apparel and collectibles from your favorite NBC shows. The Shop is located on the lobby level of 30 Rock at Avenue of the Americas/ 6th Ave between 49th and 50th streets.

The Saturday Night Live ticket lottery for the 2023-2024 season is now closed. 1. Book a standby reservation by going to the link provided ABOVE to request up to 4 standby reservations. You may choose to book a reservation for either the 8pm dress rehearsal or the 11:30pm live broadcast. You will be asked for your first and last name, your email address, and how many people are in your party. After registering, you will receive a confirmation that you are now part of our queue.

2. You will receive an email with your reservation number. Due to the number of requests, it may take several hours for your reservation number to arrive by email. A reservation number will be sent by email until we reach capacity per event. Reservation numbers will be issued in the order received.

Please note duplicate submissions for the same date are not permitted. If you request a SNL standby reservation more than once, only your most recent (latest) submission will be considered and that submission will determine your reservation number.

3. If you received a reply to your request with a reservation number, check-in at the in-person standby line at the 49th Street NBC Studios Marquee between 6pm and 7pm on the Friday before a show day. The exact location is 49 W. 49th Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. You and everyone in your party MUST be present with a photo ID (as specified below) at check-in. Any members of your party that are not present at check-in will forfeit their place in line. Reservations are non-transferable.

4. You will be assisted to line up in numerical order based on your standby reservation.

5. Standby cards will be handed out at approximately 12:01am on Saturday morning of a show day. Photo ID will be required again at this point. Standby cards are limited to one per person. Standby cards will not be distributed at any time other than 12:01am.

We want to make sure the standby process is fair for everyone, so all standby line members must always remain in line after checking in Friday night. If you do not wait in line, you will not be admitted to the show. No “line-sitters” please.

The use of:

• Lounge chairs (regular chairs are permitted)
• Sleeping bags

…will NOT be permitted in the standby line at any time.

Of course, you are free to take minimal, necessary breaks (i.e., going to the bathroom) from the line. Please note that all standby reservations and cards are non-transferable and non-exchangeable. NBC staff reserve the right to revoke the cards of, or not issue any cards to, anyone in line for any reason, including if proper procedures are not followed.

Remember, a standby card does not guarantee admission.

Maggie Rogers Announces Arena Tour, Sequel to In-Person Ticketing Program to Skirt Scalpers

Following the success of Maggie Rogers ’ in-person ticketing program for her tour last year, she’s going even bigger in 2024. Ahead of her new album Don’t Forget Me dropping on Friday, the singer announced her first arena run in the United States, kicking off in October after ‘ The Don’t Forget Me Tour, Part I ’ in early summer.

Friday kicks off a week-long celebration that Rogers is dubbing ‘Box Office Week’ that will include pop-up events, special shows at intimate venues in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago, and chances to snag tickets to the arena tour at box offices across America.

Rogers’ arena run this fall includes a date at Madison Square Garden on October 19, a little over five years after the singer sold out two nights at Radio City Music Hall. Having gone to New York University and lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, Rogers is no stranger to venues across the city, from popping out at Barclays Center with Zach Bryan and Bruce Springsteen to her affinity for some of the city’s cozier settings.

Lotus Plaza is the latest recording project and band headed up by Deerhunter guitarist Lockett Pundt. Whereas his former band incorporate a wide variety of rock styles, Lotus Plaza seems far more focused on playing music that sounds like a modern take on classic postpunk; think Jesus And Mary Chain doing New Order Covers and you'll be in the ballpark.Seeing the band in concert is a treat. Gigging as a four piece (guitar, bass, drums and keys), the band's set consisted of them performing their debut album Spooky Action At A Distance in its entirety. Indeed, don't show up late—the band's set list is usually short and sweet. It was a concise but pleasing trip through one of the better records of 2012. If a song like “Out Of Touch” feels almost frighteningly dense with its heavy verses, when the set gets to tunes like “Dusty Rhodes” and the downright bubbly and ethereal “Eveningness”, there's every chance the audience will be pressed to the stage or dancing.Onstage, Pundt and his band play things fairly straight. While there's an obvious intensity to what they're doing, Lotus Plaza never get so hung up on the moment that they forget their audience, bantering with them about previous tour stops and commiserating over covers they won't do (Pundt is likely to beg off by explaining that his band only knows the songs on their setlist). For now their shows feel like an intimate, sort-of well-kept secret, but it's hard to shake the feeling that this band isn't about to break out to much bigger things.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.
