Croatia rental

We rented from Avis because they did not charge a drop off fee for one-way rentals (Split to Dubrovnik) No, but they did impose a charge for traveling 10km through Bosnia (which is unavoidable as Croatia is divided by this narrow corridor) The car was awful. 112,000km, every panel dented and the steering vibrated alarmingly at speeds above 100km/hr (the motorway speed limit is 130) Emailed Customer services in the UK (through which we booked) and other than automated 'your inquiry is important to us...' emails - nothing.

Appalling Customer Service.

We hired a Fiat 500 in Mallorca. We were not told when collecting the car that it had "keyless access" or that the boot/trunk did not lock. Nothing in their documentation made this clear and the vehicle's manual was only in Spanish. Although the car was "locked" a thief was able to open the door and steal a bag containing money. Yet despite having witness details, a police report, confirmation from Avis staff when returning the car that it could not be locked and a video clearly showing that the car could not be made secure, Avis will not accept any responsibility .

Avis Madrid airport - spitefull and arrogant staff

Arriving at the airport at 2:15 am, after a 4 hour delay. Avis office closed at 2 am. The office had been notified about our delay, but apparently noone cared to stay for another 15 minutes to do the paperwork and give us the keys to the car we booked. We wait at the airport for the office to open at 7 am. When we hand over the voucher with the reservation number the guy behind the counter asks me if i want extra insurance. I reply "No thanks". The guy speeks to the other two staff members in Spanish (i don't understand spanish), smiles (to his colleagues) and says that if i want the car i have booked it now costs 400 euros more and an extra 1000 euros deposit. I ask him to be sure that i heard him correctly if he wants me to pay 400 euros ekstra for 1 day less and he confirms it. Naturaly we didn't accept his "offer" and we got a car from Europcar an hour later, without any problems. So much for customer service at Avis. Needless to say, I will never use them again.

One of the Worst Car Rental Experiences

I have been renting cars across North America, and this did not happen a lot which was a very dissatisfied experience with Avis Charlottetown PEI Canada. 1. Over charges for fuel. I knew the price of Avis for fuel is a little higher than gas stations, but you should not just rob people's money secretly - on the day when I returned my car I noticed that I only used less than 10% of the total fuel which I doubled checked and was quite sure, actually that was why I wanted to just return the car instead of going to a gas station first to save some time since it was not much usage. It turned out I was too naive - I checked my bank account later and they took me $45, which is almost a full tank's price for my rental car. Called and confirmed this. Quite interesting. 2. Need better call center reps training quality. I called them later asking about the issue. At the end of the call I said "Alright, thanks", and she said nothing but hang up the phone. Still interesting, does Avis provide customer service training, at all? 3. No manager calling back as promised. The say-nothing-but-hang-up-phone lady promised me the manager would call me back that afternoon to better explain the issue. I saved my afternoon staying in my office waiting for the call. It never happened, ever, even not in the next few days. Very disappointed.

Avis in Pisa, Italy / Italia

I've never bothered to review a car rental firm before as it's not usually a joyful experience but Avis in Pisa were superb - friendly, efficient, professional at both pick-up and return with excellent spoken English and no hidden extras. It's a YES from me.

Poor Customer Service

I recently rented a car from JFK Avis. The person at the check in counter was least friendly and answered my questions with an attitude. The interior of the car was dirty. It wasn't a very pleasant experience overall.

Avis Miami airport - warning over sat nav tablet charges

Just a warning, we pre paid for car hire before arriving in Miami, the rental agreement showed what I thought and queried was the car hire alongside additional for fuel and we rented a sat nav, which they marketed as a tablet with wifi. I queried the costs and was told it was the car hire and that I had already paid. On arrival home I had a cost of #207 and 286 added to my credit card. On query the former was an error, somehow a duplicate despite the different amount!! The second they originally explained as due to a review of the rental costs i.e. days we were renting for. I responded to advise our plans had not changed from the original agreement and they then replied to advise the cost of renting the sat nav tablet was 307 dollars. I did sign the agreement but it does not state this amount is for the sat nav, it is not written on the agreement and I had queried it was the cost of the car. At no point did they say it was this amount. Basically the sat nav tablet cost the same as the car hire!!!! Certainly I have learnt from it and will never use Avis again but just want to warn other people to be very clear before renting. I could have purchased a sim and a phone for that cost and used google maps!!!

Customer Service Phone Staff Need Training

Please see the posting I shared on YELP & with Priceline: Rented a Mini-Van for 3 days this past weekend, Sat-Mon. When I called to verify the type of vehicle and to be sure the rear seats could be stowed in the floor I experienced a customer service nightmare. The main # does not route you to an agent at the Austin airport. 2 tries through that system to no avail. Then I got the 512 A/C direct # and NO ONE answers that #! My 4th call got a young lady on Friday who told me she would Google the Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country to see if seats folded down! I know they do! She put me on hold and then said that they did NOT appear to fold down. I asked where she got that and she said Google! This was a customer service agent. I asked if she was sure. She said no. Then she proceeded to tell me that she was sorry that I was "having a bad day!" No supervisor was accessible, she was not able to dial the airport location either, and I had made 4 calls and burned up 20 minutes to hear she Googled the info! Not to one to wallow in defeat, I called another Austin area location and the gal that answered the phone told me there are 4 types of minivans. All have rear fold-down seats and that she could email and put my request for the Dodge or Chrysler van in their system and that there were plenty on hand for the time I needed one. Night & day customer experience! I picked up a Dodge Grand Caravan on Saturday morning at the airport and behold, both sets of rear seats stowed away completely. This provided all the cargo room I needed. Loved the R/T black on black version with wide profile tires. It handled great on the highway during our trip and was well equipped. The vehicle was spotless on the outside but the interior was NOT cleaned prior to us getting it... Mainly, train your customer service staff on vehicles you rent, make access to major airport locations possible by phone, have a request for a supervisor met with action, and be sure the vehicle is fully ready to rent by your customers. There is lots of competition out there and Avis is one option guys. Sorry, but now I am waiting on the $100 they hit my CC for to be credited back now the 3rd day after it was returned on time, completely full on gas, and without any issues or damage. Was charged twice for the rental car and Avis refuses to answer

After renting a car for one day in Gran Canaria, I was charged twice for renting the car. I tried filling in a complaint form on the website, but it kept saying that the reservation number was wrong. I tried writing e-mails to the customer service in Spain and Denmark (where I live), but they just told me that Gran Canaria had a different reservation system, so they could'nt find the booking. When I insisted on getting help, they just didn't answer at all. I finally got help from the hotel where we stayed and got my money back. But not thanks to Avis - they just wanted to keep it.

At Yakima Airport I travel a lot and always renting cars. This is the worst! Every time I rent from them something is wrong, i.e. old cars, cars that can't make it over the hill, 12 volt outlets don't work, left my laptop in the passenger seat, I called them and they denied it, closed early and denied it. I told them to look at the security camera that I was the only one there! The car I have right now, sounds like the wheel bearing is going out. It just goes on and on. I have written to customer service soooo many times! They sent me a coupon for a percentage off. I presented it to them the next time and they said they don't honor those. Rent at your own risk!!!!!

Avis Lyon Airiport are deceitful and will cheat you out of money

I would not recommend renting a car from Avis at Lyon Airport . they cheated me out of 172 Euros. How ? by asking me to purchase extra products such as road side assistance, and even when i said no. they added it to "counter product" under RSN . I asked what they extra was they said it was a deposit. I initialled the extra for fuel next to the arrow they drew on the paper, which i did ask for. On returning the car I queried the extra money being deducted they then circled the whole section and said I had initialled for all of the counter products and the up grade on the car, which I had not asked for but had to take as they did not have the car I ordered They told me the upgrade was only 32 euros. Such liars and such cheats. Never let them near your document when returning your car.

All the AVIS contacts at SFO Airport location were pleasant

The car was easy to return. They gave good directions to get to the car and it was clean inside and tank full as promised. They gave us a choice of two cars the smallest and next size and glad we chose the Nissan Versa. Was just right size for a 10 day trip including driving hrs away to Lake Tahoe and Sacramento. The trunk size was just right to get ALL of our 10 days for 3 luggage put away out of sight.

Last time with Avis

A "700$ upgrade" was charged but was never explained during pick up at Denver that this was an "updrade". During conversation, they focussed on a fuel prepaid which I agreed and additonal insurance which I did'nt want. A gamesmanship? Likely. Why should 2 people with two bags upgrade to an 8 passender seat SUV? Not one single word was mentioned during this pick up! Stupid enough I signed this contract by trust but did not check for this hidden and unwanted upgrade. Thats how you end when you trust such people after almost 20years beeing a customer! Complaint was answered with their stupid standard text "We try harder" and "Sorry for misunderstanding". Misunderstanding??? Nonsens. AVIS, forget this BS! I can only warn everbody to book Avis and I feel betrayed and think they are bandits! Avis, have you ever heard about "Goodwill", this is an englisch word, totally unkown vocabular to you, obviously. Keep your hands off from Avis. Sad enough, they don't even care about anything which is customer related.

Very Promt and Friendly Service..

I rented a car through Avis at O'hare airport, chicago.. Best experience. The two gentlemen at the location at 2:30 am we very nice funny and accomadating. Brightened up my morning. Wish all rental places were as friendly as they are. Will definitely be back to that location with out a doubt!!

When we picked up the car at Luton we found the woman behind the counter to be really quite rude and treated us as if she was doing us a favour by renting a car to us! We returned the car early but when we arrived, no staff member was available to check the car so we handed the keys back to reception (as instructed by a sign) and the same rude woman as before said that was 'fine' and they would check the car tomorrow. About 2 weeks later we got a charge on our credit card, and when I queried it with Avis/Budget customer services they said that we had returned the car late so they charged us for an extra day. We checked the time that our car had been returned on their system and it was almost an hour later than when we returned the keys. So the woman behind reception had probably not logged our return on time - goodness knows what she was doing in the mean time - then we got charged for being late! As I always do when I hire a rental car, I take lots of photos including photos immediately prior to handing the keys back, which are naturally timestamped. When I presented these photos to Avis/Budget customer services, which provide relatively indisputable evidence of our timely return of the car, we had no response from them, even after chasing them up twice. I even said we would do a chargeback on our credit card then gave them 10 working days to resolve the issue and they still did not respond! Needless to say I am somewhat upset that car hire companies can behave in such a fraudulent cowboy manner, charging people's cards willy nilly and it reflects really badly on the Avis/Budget brand. I will never rent from this company at Luton again and I am keen to make sure that people learn that this is a fraudulent company with rude staff and incompetent customer services...hence my review.

Thank you AVIS (Venice airport)

for 1) making us wait for 1,5H to get the car, 2) for extremely rud costumer service, and 3) last but not least giving us a car with damages for at least 10.000 EURO WITHOUT REFLECTING THIS IN THE LEASE AGREEMENT BY YOUR SELF and expecting us as costumers to sign Terms & Conditions under which the costumer is liable for damages not reflected in the agreement. I my view this is the act fraudulent company that have lost sight of its costumers. Recommendation: do no use AVIS, if you do, make sure you inspect the car carefully before signing, include it in T&C and take pictures - like we did. The company is relentless when it comes to damages to the car.

Con Artists!

I'd just got off a 10 hour flight from the UK with 3 children. We had to wait over an hour for the courtesy bus, we saw at least 2, and in some cases 3, of the other company's buses go past! As I had to get 4 suitcases and 3 sleeping children off the bus when we arrived, we ended up at the back of the queue. There was nowhere for the children to sit so I left them at the side of the room with our cases while I queued. 90 minutes later I got to the front of the queue! By this point my children had fallen asleep over the cases! The man then tried to add over $500 of extras onto our fully covered car. Luckily I noticed. He then tried to blame it on British Airways! About 4 hours after we left the airport we finally got out car. We were exhausted! A couple of months after we returned home they stole $200 from my credit card. I contacted Avis, who had no idea what it was for, and British Airways. I told them I still had ALL of the paperwork and gave a complaint number for another person I know that Avis had ripped off a few months before. Luckily, they returned the money within a few weeks and offered to repay any non-sterling transaction fees I had incurred. I spent almost 10 years saving up to go to the US with my children. I am not sure I would ever go there again if this is what you can expect from businesses there. Companies like this are letting the whole country down. I can't afford to risk going to the US ever again!

Terrible Customer Service and Ridiculous Fees!! Book with Sixt instead!!

In November I booked a rental car through Avis, It had said that if you joined Avis Preferred you would receive a free upgrade on collection of your car and also a quicker wait time to pick up your car. On landing we went straight to Avis Preferred where we were upset to find that the queue was even longer than the regular line, also when we asked about the upgrade was told it was on your 5th car. On return of the car we were unable to fill up the car as there was so much road works and traffic diversion we would have to drive too far out to make the plane in time. Therefore we returned the car half full and explained to the lady our situation who said she would try her best to lower the price of the charge. In Florida, to fill the car from empty to full it cost us $20, the car was half full so to fill the car up completely it would have cost $10. I was shocked and hugely disappointed when I received the charge for fuel from Avis at $45!! I have emailed then many times and have only had one email back 6 weeks later!!!! Their customer service is appalling and I was very much advise everyone to book elsewhere as the market is so competitive. I have booked with Sixt before and they were amazing!!

17. Tsaritsyno Palace

The exhibits on display look at the life of the empress as well as the history of Tsaritsyno itself. The huge palace grounds are also home to some other delightful buildings with the elegant opera house and wonderful brickwork of the Small Palace being particularly impressive to gaze upon.

Starting out in 1935 as the ‘All-Union Agricultural Exhibition’, VDNKh has slowly morphed over the years into the fascinating open-air museum of today. Remarkably, over 400 buildings can now be found within its confines.

The huge park complex has numerous pavilions representing former Soviet republics on show, such as those of Armenia and Turkmenistan and the distinctive architecture of each of the buildings is always interesting to gaze upon. In addition to this there is the fascinating Memorial Museum of Cosmonautics which is dedicated to space exploration and the fun Moskvarium aquarium even offers you the chance to swim with dolphins.

With lots of eateries scattered about and numerous entertainment options such as horse-riding and zip-lining, there is something for everyone to enjoy; the Friendship of Nations fountain truly is wonderful.

15. Kremlin Armoury

One of the oldest museums in the city, the Kremlin Armoury has a wealth of treasures; highlights include the ornate Grand Siberian Railway egg, the historic Cap of Monomakh and the stunning Imperial Crown of Russia which often has a crowd of tourists around it, jostling to take a photo.

Once the royal armory, there are loads of fascinating objects on display. Perusing the many sabers, jewelry, armor and more is as interesting as it is educational and entertaining and the swords are so finely crafted that you’ll almost wish you could pick up one and wield if yourself.

Established in 1851, the museum is situated in the Moscow Kremlin.

14. GUM Department Store

Standing for ‘Main Universal Store’ in Russian, GUM is stunning. Its wonderful skylights and beautiful facades mean it doesn’t look out of place alongside its illustrious neighbors on Red Square.

With over 200 shops, boutiques and upmarket eateries inside, it is a shopaholic’s heaven and concerned partners will be glad to find more affordable options alongside luxury brands such as Dior and Prada.

The main department store in the city, GUM was opened in 1893. The stunning architecture makes it well worth a visit even if shopping isn’t your thing.

13. Moscow Metro

It’s not often that public transport looks like a work of art. So many stops on the Moscow Metro will astound visitors with their beauty and elegance.

Decked in marble and with frescoes covering the walls, the stations are amazing to gaze upon and are part of one of the longest metro systems in the world, with the first stations opened in 1935.

Using the metro is the quickest and easiest way to get around Moscow and braving the crowds of commuters is well worth it for the beauty all around you.

12. Arbat Street

An elegant yet lively street, Arbat is full of impressive architecture and was once a popular place to live for aristocrats, artists, and academics.

A historic place, it is down Arbat Street that Napoleon’s troops are said to have headed on their way to capture the Kremlin.

Nowadays, there are many cafes, restaurants, and shops, as well as various monuments and statues to former residents such as Alexander Pushkin who was reputed to be a lover of the Russian Empress due to his massive influence in court.

11. Novodevichy Convent

Drenched in history, the Novodevichy Convent is located in a striking building that was once a fortress. This captivating place is well worth visiting when in Moscow.

Founded in 1524, the convent houses four cathedrals; Smolensk Cathedral is the undoubted highlight due to its delightful 16th-century frescoes.

Wandering around the grounds is like stepping back in time. The Novodevichy Cemetery is where many famous leaders of the Soviet Union are buried, such as Yeltsin and Khrushchev.

10. Pushkin Museum

Despite its name, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts actually has no connection at all to the famous poet other than that it was named in his honor after his death. A delight to visit, its extensive collection focuses on European art with masterpieces by Botticelli, Rembrandt, and van Gogh all featuring.

Sculptures, graphic art, paintings and more can be found in its beautiful galleries; various sections look at themes and epochs such as the Renaissance, the Dutch Golden Age, and Byzantine art.

Among the many highlights are the clownish characters which can be found in Cezanne’s Fastnacht (Mardi Gras) and the twirling ballerinas who look so elegant in Degas’ Blue Dancers. Picasso’s Young acrobat on a Ball is also well worth checking out for its interesting use of shapes and colors.

9. Christ The Savior Cathedral

This gorgeous Russian Orthodox cathedral is located on the banks of the Moskva River, just a stone’s throw away from the Kremlin.

The church as it stands today was consecrated in 2000, as the original church that stood here was destroyed on the command of Josef Stalin in 1931 due to the anti-religious campaign.

With its delightful golden dome, spires and dazzling white facades, the Christ the Savior Cathedral is stunning. The interior is just as captivating to wander around, with its beautifully tiled floors and impressive altar.

8. Lenin Mausoleum

Opened to the public in 1924, Lenin’s Mausoleum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Moscow. The red granite structure is located at the heart of the city in Red Square.

Lenin’s embalmed body lies in a glass sarcophagus; it is a somewhat eerie experience walking past the former leader of the Soviet Union but is well worth doing as you understandably can’t do it anywhere else in the world.

After visiting the mausoleum, head to the Kremlin wall right next to it for more graves of important communist figures such as Stalin and Brezhnev.

7. Tretyakov Gallery

Home to the most extensive and impressive collection of Russian fine art in the world, the State Tretyakov Gallery is definitely worth visiting when in Moscow for the wealth of amazing art pieces that it has on display.

Having started out as the private art collection of the Tretyakov brothers, there are now over 130,000 exhibits. Highlights include the iconic Theotokos of Vladimir which you will almost certainly recognise despite probably not knowing the name and Rublev’s Trinity which is considered to be one of highest achievements in Russian art.

An absolute must for art lovers, the State Tretyakov Gallery will delight visitors with all that is has to offer.

6. Kolomenskoye

Once a royal estate, Kolomenskoye is now a museum-reserve and lies a few kilometers outside of the city center. A captivating place to visit, there is a plethora of history on show and the site overlooks the Moskva River.

Consisting of four historical sites, there are extensive gardens for visitors to explore, as well as loads of interesting old buildings, the former village of Kolomenskoye itself and the impressive Palace of the Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich – once considered the Eighth Wonder of the World by contemporaries.

Among the many stunning sights, it is the brilliantly white Ascension Church that is the undoubted highlight – dating back to 1532.

5. Gorky Park

Lying alongside the Moskva River, the huge Gorky Park is a lovely place to visit. Its extensive gardens are home to numerous cultural institutions and visitors should definitely check out the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art and while the eclectic exhibits may not always feature such incredible sights as a balloon-covered rider on a zebra; they certainly always succeed in pushing back the boundaries of art.

Pop-up exhibitions and festivals can be found from time to time in the park itself and there is an open-air theatre and numerous eateries alongside a plethora of leisure activities.

Whether it’s cycling, table tennis or yoga that you are after or beach volleyball and rowing, Gorky Park certainly has it. In winter, there is a huge ice rink for visitors to enjoy.

4. Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the main theater in the country. The amazing opera and ballet performances it has put on over the centuries go a long way in explaining Russia’s rich history of performing arts.

While the Bolshoi Ballet Company was established in 1776, the theater itself was opened in 1825. The glittering, six-tier auditorium is lavishly and decadently decorated; it is a fitting setting for the world-class performances that take place on its stage.

Spending a night watching a performance of such classics as The Nutcracker or Swan Lake at the Bolshoi Theatre is sure to be a memorable experience and the beauty all around you only adds to the sense of occasion.

3. Moscow Kremlin

This famously fortified complex is remarkably home to five palaces and four cathedrals and is the historic, political and spiritual center of the city. The Kremlin serves as the residence for the country’s president. It has been used as a fort, and this fact is made clear by its sheer size. The Kremlin’s outer walls were built in the late 1400s.

Under Ivan III, better known as Ivan the Great, the Kremlin became the center of a unified Russian state, and was extensively remodeled. Three of the Kremlin’s cathedrals date to his reign that lasted from 1462-1505. The Deposition Church and the Palace of Facets were also constructed during this time. The Ivan the Great Bell Tower was built in 1508. It is the tallest tower at the Kremlin with a height of 266 feet (81 meters).

Joseph Stalin removed many of the relics from the tsarist regimes. However, the Tsar Bell, the world’s largest bell, and the Tsar Cannon, the largest bombard by caliber in the world, are among the remaining items from that era. The Kremlin Armory is one of Moscow’s oldest museums as it was established more than 200 years ago. Its diamond collection is impressive.

The Kremlin’s gardens – Taynitsky, Grand Kremlin Public and Alexander – are beautiful. The Kremlin has also served as the religious center of the country, and there is a tremendous number of preserved churches and cathedrals here. The collections contained within the museums include more than 60,000 historical, cultural and artistic monuments. Those who enjoy the performing arts will want to consider attending a ballet or concert at the State Kremlin Palace. Completed in 1961, it is the only modern building in the Kremlin.

2. Red Square

Lying at the heart of Moscow, Red Square is the most important and impressive square in the city. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions due to its wealth of historical sights and cultural landmarks.

Drenched in history, the huge square is home to incredible sights such as the Kremlin, St. Basil’s Cathedral and Lenin’s Mausoleum, among others. Consequently, it is not to be missed when in Moscow as it really is home to the city’s most stunning monuments.

It is here that many important moments in Russian history took place; the former marketplace has hosted everything from Tsar’s coronations and public ceremonies to rock concerts and Soviet military parades. Wandering around the massive square is a humbling experience and undoubtedly one of the highlights the city has to offer.

1. Saint Basil’s Cathedral

Located in the impressive Red Square, St. Basil’s Cathedral is gorgeous; its delightful spires appear as if out of a fairytale. The most recognizable building in the country, the cathedral is very much a symbol of Russia. No visit to Moscow is complete without having taken in its unique and distinctive features.

Ivan the Terrible ordered the cathedral’s construction in the mid-16th century, and legend holds that Ivan put out the architect’s eyes so that he would be unable to build another cathedral more glorious than St. Basil’s. Designed to resemble the shape of a bonfire in full flame, the architecture is not only unique to the period in which it was built but to any subsequent period. For various reasons, both Napoleon and Stalin wanted to destroy the cathedral but fortunately did not succeed.

Known for its various colors, shapes and geometric patterns, St. Basil’s Cathedral houses nine different chapels that are all connected by a winding labyrinth of corridors and stairways. On the lower floor, St. Basil’s Chapel contains a silver casket bearing the body of St. Basil the Blessed.

Throughout the cathedral are many beautiful murals, frescoes, wooden icons and other art works and artifacts. Outside the cathedral is a lovely garden with the bronze Monument to Minin and Pozharsky, who rallied an all-volunteer Russian army against Polish invaders during a period of the late 16th century known as the Times of Troubles.

Når jeg havde brug for hjælp, kunne jeg ikke få fat på fdm. Da det virkeligt brændte på og mit fly blev aflyst, bekræftede fdm at jeg havde nogle billetter der ikke eksisterede i virkeligheden.

Rejseinspirationen og ruteplanlægning var rigtig god…

Rejseinspirationen og ruteplanlægning var rigtig god og det samme var vejledning og service fra FDM Travels medarbejder i Vejle. Til gengæld var allergiønsker fra os ikke nået ud til nogen af hotellerne. Dette er utilfredsstillende og forværres så yderligere af, at især Scandic-hotellerne var under forventet standard og med mange busselskaber. Men alt i alt en rigtig god ferie.

Vi lejede bil hos AVIS gennem FDM

Vi lejede bil hos AVIS gennem FDM. Alt gik som det skulle. Vi fik udleveret en bil og det var som det skulle være. Hverken mere eller mindre. Et par input til finjusteringer. Det er vigtigt at angive hvilket fly man lander med da man ellers kun har 1 time fra man potentielt burde lande til at finde AVIS udlejningsbureauet. Jeg blev i tvivl om jeg havde husket det og måtte ringe til FDM og få det bekræftet da det ikke fremgik af min bekræftelse. Jeg fik det dig bekræftet af damen i telefonen. Det er ret svært at finde ud af hvilken kategori bil man skal vælge for at sikre der er plads til 5 personer inkl. kuffert. Jeg skød lidt over kategori for at være sikker på at få en stor nok bil. En anden gang burde man måske bare ringe til FDM og få vejledning. Forøvrigt skal man have et fysisk kørekort (digitalt gælder ikke) men ingen internationalt kørekort i Italien, det lille lyserøde er fint. I Italien blev jeg spurgt om jeg ønskede fuld forsikring 20 euro om dagen ekstra. Der står mange informationer i FDM’s kontrakt og også at man kan få tilbudt yderligere forsikringer, hvilket er frivilligt. Man bliver dog en smule usikker i situationen. Hvad dækker den jeg har? Er det uansvarligt ikke at gøre det? Osv. Jeg besluttede at køre uden. (Man hedder vel ‘danger’ til mellemnavn. Jeg fik ikke en udprintet kontrakt, selvom FDM skriver man skal kræve det. Ja, det ville de ikke. Jeg havde jo fået en e-mail. Vi fik en fin Citroën C5. Selvom der stod ‘diesel’ på nøgle vedhænget lod jeg mig ikke narre. Sådan en fætter tager nemlig benzin. Fartpiloten nægtede at virke, og da vi ikke skulle sindssyg langt lod jeg foden gøre arbejdet (ligesom i gamle dage). En kort intro til bilens funktioner ville have været nyttigt. Derudover var der ingen problemer.

Kør-selv-ferien til Nordkap var meget, meget vellykket.

Kør-selv-ferien til Nordkap var meget, meget vellykket. Hotellerne var som ønsket ikke ‘Plastic hoteller’ men i størst muligt omfang hoteller med atmosfære. Køretiderne mellem de forskellige destinationer svarede til vores forventninger - var overkommelige og med en del hviledage med to overnatninger på samme hotel indlagt. Køreturen var helt svarende til vores ønsker, som vi havde udtrykt på forhånd.

Vi vælger FDM for at få pakke rejse

Vi vælger FDM for at få pakke rejse, når vi rejser i USA . Men vi er nu for anden gang blevet taget ved næsen med vores lejebil hos AVIS. For det første får man en mindre bil end den der er lejet. Straks man starter bilen blinker den med oplysninger om at den trænger til service. Firmaet siger det betyder ikke noget. For 2 år siden blev vi opkrævet 800 $ fordi bilen ikke længere kunne give gas, og måtte hentes. Kunne man overveje et andet firma?

SPA ophold uden SPA

FDM fandt 2 specielle SPA ophold til os i Sverige, og det betalte vi mere end kr. 3.500,- for, men det der var booket til os, var "bare" 2 standard værelser uden SPA og det kunne vi have booket billigere selv incl. SPA. Det blev dog en god tur alligevel, men kun fordi det ene hotel opgraderede os til Suite med spabad og sauna uden merpris og fordi vejret i Sverige var meget bedre end i DK :-)

El bil på Mallorca

El bil på Mallorca - STOP det er de SLET ikke klar til og AVIS kunne ikke hjælpe, med noget som helst. Ikke engang i lufthavnen kan man lade. Kørte ti forskellige steder, ingen virkede eller var slet ikke taget i brug endnu (var stadig pakket ind i plast) og endte med at aflever bilen hos AVIS og har måtte betale for at den ikke var ladet op. Øv for en oplevelse.

Jeg ved du tidligere har været i kontakt med vores kundesupport, der har sendt din feedback videre til den ansvarlige for vores aftale med Avis. Desværre er ikke alle lande så langt fremme med hensyn til ladestandere som Danmark er, men det lyder til, at de er godt på vej. Jeg er ked af, at Avis ikke har kunnet henvise til en fungerende ladestander, når de tilbyder elbil. Ofte kan fungerende standere dog nemt findes i de dertilhørende apps. Vh Joan, FDM travel

Retur til Danmark en dag tidligere end…

Retur til Danmark en dag tidligere end oprindeligt planlagt. I forbindelse med booking af ferieugen i Tyskland 7 overnatninger til en pris på over 12000 kr. regnede jeg med at kvalitet og det oplevede, svarede til det man kan forvente af en ferietur der var planlagt af bilisternes organisation FDM. Forløbet med bestilling var ok, vi syntes godt nok i bestillingsfasen at 12000 for 7 overnatninger. Ca 1700,- pr nat hvoraf flere var uden morgenmad, var højt. Men valgte at acceptere i forventning af at vi ville få en tur der bare velplanlagt og ikke gav nogle udfordringer. En af forventningerne var at man kunne parkere ved hotellet. 1 hotel ingen problemer. 2 hotel i Trier skulle bilen i en parkeringskælder som ikke var høj nok, men hotellet var villig til åbne en plads nær ved mod betaling . 3 Hotel igen samme problematik, men her ingen løsning ud over at en arrogant receptionist bare sagde at man bare kunne køre ud i byen og parkere. Efter 30 minutters søge centralt i Koblenz og et blodtryk der efterhånden var højt, valgte vi at opgive parkering i Koblens og ringede til det sidste hotel som heldigvis havde en plads, så vi valgte at køre dertil. Parkering har for os været vigtigt, og også derfor at jeg i forbindelse med reserveringen specifikt forespurgte på dette, og specifikt skriftligt fik at vide at der ingen problemer var. Oplevelsen har gjort at vores ferie har været afskåret med en dag og med store irritationer og udfordringer med parkering. Jeg prøvede efter oplevelsen på det 3 hotel at tjekke priserne på de overnatningssteder vi skulle benytte. Efter tjekket kan man konstatere at jeg føler mig snydt, på næsten det groveste, hvis jeg sammenligner med hvad de udbyder værelserne til på de enkelte overnatningssteder. Vi kunne have sparet flere tusinde kroner hvis vi havde brugt et af de webbaserede hotelbookingssystemer. Derfor vil jeg anbefale alle at tjekke priserne, hvis man modtager et rejseforslag fra FDM, og ikke bare i tillid til en medlemsorganisation, acceptere et rejseforslag. Det var ikke den oplevelse jeg regnede med at få når jeg som medlem af FDM bestilte igennem FDM. Men næste gang så vil jeg tage tilbud hjem flere steder fra. Vil nok starte et andet sted end hos FDM, med denne oplevelse i hukommelsen. Det skal slutteligt siges at jeg har fremsendt en reklamation. Det eneste jeg har modtaget, er et autosvar om at svar tiden er op til 10 uger. Så jeg må vente.
