Your orders can be picked up from our commercial kitchen in Papatoetoe or delivered in the Auckland region. Delivery fee ranges from $10 to $40 based on location.

Waiheke Garden Safari – a tempting array of home baking

Who would have thought it? I had stylish little French almond biscuits and currant and orange biscuits pretty as a picture in tall glass jars, I slathered sultana and walnut loaf with butter, cut up rounds of chocolate figgy torte, handed around samples of moist pineapple cake, wafted an alcoholic air over anyone who came near the sherry-imbued fruitcake, and there was ever-popular chocolate fudge brownies and sticky lemon slice, and erbazzone … but it was the cheese scones that turned heads every time. They quite liked the date scones, too, but it was the cheese scones that stole the show.

Second? Chocolate fudge brownie. Third? Erbazzone. But women over 70 knew a thing or two and headed straight for the fruitcake and loaf.

The Garden Safari was a huge success for the Jassy Dean Trust, even though the rain spattered down a couple of times on Saturday and there was a southerly nip in the air on Sunday (the only time the weather has been poor in the 16 years the Garden Safari has been in existence) but the punters came and snapped up bargains and knowledge from avid gardeners. Some couldn’t quite muster any interest, though they enjoyed the free ride and biscuit.

Auckland spring weather is often wet and warm and things grow like topsy (whatever that means … I think it means very fast!), so I’m on it!

Hi Marion, hopefully you have the recipe now. It will be fab for Christmas. Give it a good slosh of brandy, wrap it well in baking paper and brown paper, then store in a tin, or airtight. When you fit the lid, inhale the boozy aroma!

24 hours in general, and that’s what the website ordering system is build on. But if you have missed the cut-off time to place your order, please give us a call or instagram message and we will try our best to help you.

We provide FREE DELIVERY for most Auckland urban area. It covers North to Albany, South to Manukau City Centre, West to Westgate, East to Flatbush and Eastern Bays area.

If your destination is rural or out of our free delivery area, we only charge $1 per km from your destination to the nearest cut-off point. We use google map to measure the distance.

Example, if you live in Silverdale, we will only charge the distance between Silverdale & Albany, at the rate of $1 per km.

By default, we will be doing our deliveries from 6pm – 10pm on weekdays and 10am – 2pm on weekends. This delivery time frame helps us to avoid Auckland traffic and make sure our cakes are delivered fresh and cool.

Should you desire a specific delivery time during the day, reach out to us via phone, email, or Instagram message. We’re committed to accommodating your preferences to the best of our availability.

We are sharing a commercial kitchen with Gilli Cafe at New Market. Just kindly ask one of the cafe staff and let them know your name on the order, they will bring the cake to you.

Unfortunately no. We are fully online based at the moment, but our kitchen is in New Market and pick-ups are available . We’re sharing the kitchen space with Gilli Cafe New Market at the moment, but hoping to turn into a full-fledged store in the future!

The Caker , Karangahape Road

Jordan Rondel’s The Caker, has become something of an Auckland icon, which means that it was all the more heartbreaking to hear of the imminent closure of its K’ Road bakery — the spot where Rondel launched her now-global brand and the place on which most of us have relied for every birthday, graduation and milestone celebration. “It’s heartbreaking to say this part of The Caker journey is coming to an end,” Rondel said on her Instagram , “but change opens doors to innovation and fresh possibilities, and I am confident that with more space in my brain, my future endeavours will bring even more value to you, my amazing Caker community.” Despite the fact that the popular The Caker kits will still be available for us to buy from the supermarket, the celebration cakes won’t be from Sunday the 3rd of September. So, we advise getting your final orders in over the next couple of weeks (Rondel says she will be releasing a raft of final flavours and iconic, end-of-era cakes) to ensure that The Caker goes out with a bang.
