Sailing on the always calm and peaceful waters of the River Exe, this is an excellent introduction to travelling on the water. Your Captain gives insightful and entertaining commentary throughout the cruise, highlighting all the sights on this award-winning river – fingers crossed we get to see our local seal!

The quaint Devon town of Topsham has a historic yet cosmopolitan atmosphere. There is a variety of cafes, a museum, boutiques, and some distinctive 17th Century Dutch style merchant town houses. On Topsham Quay itself, you will find the incredible three-storey Topsham Quay Antiques Centre, where you will be sure to find a quirky and memorable souvenir of the day!

The seaside town Exmouth is one of oldest and most picturesque in Devon. Ferry Round Robin, Brixham to Teignmouth

A very worthwhile trip, the boat journey takes about 2.1/2 hours calling in at Paignton then Torquay. The very informative commentary is great. Very good value for money.

round robin trip from brixham

I cant recommend this cruise highly enough. John and Danny were friendly, knowledgeable and even funny at times ;-) The 2.5 hour cruise was brilliant value for money and the fish and chips from Rockfish in Brixham were one of the best we've had. As two added bonuses we managed to see dolphins and my 12 and 9 year olds got a chance to steer the boat! A really great evening.

round robin trip from brixham

We went on the Teignmouth Round Robin trip from Paignton today and LOVED it! A fabulous almost two hour trip along the South Devon coast from Paignton to Teignmouth - at times close enough to the cliffs that you could almost reach out and touch them. We felt that the captain (John) and the crew (Stuart and another John) had us in very safe and knowledgeable hands for the whole trip. Even as born and bred Paigntonians, they told us things we didn't know about our local area and particularly about the geology and the fishing industry. We were lucky enough to see a couple of seals very close up as well! We were given a map of Teignmouth so that we could spend some time exploring there before catching the train back to Paignton - and the map even had the train times printed on it. We had the opportunity to go on to Dawlish or Dawlish Warren on a train at no extra cost if we'd wanted to, and the train tickets covered us to come back any time up to 11:30 at night. Nothing was too much trouble for the crew, and they had a great sense of humour too. All in all, a highly recommended trip, which we will repeat next year hopefully - only next time I will remember to pick up my camera before leaving home ...!

We went on the Teignmouth Round Robin from Brixham today, it was a brilliant trip. The crew were very knowledgable, helpful and friendly, the commentary about the coast line was really good, it made the trip very enjoyable. Would highly recommend this trip to anyone thinking of taking a boat trip whilst on Holiday in this part of Devon.

Our group of four, all locals, thoroughly enjoyed the Teignmouth to Paignton round robin trip yesterday. We can only echo all the favourable comments made by other reviewers about the lovely friendly staff, interesting commentary and brilliant organisation by the ferry company. We will definitely book another trip in the very near future.

We recently experienced a number of trips with WeFerry such as; Sunset cruise, Seafari cruise and the Teignmouth round robin, we were not disappointed. The ferries value for money, the boats are small enough to get up close to local points of interest (at times almost within touching distance), the small crews are local and very knowledgable which is put over in a very entertaining and informative way by the crew. Whenever possible we try and use WeFerry boats as they offer a more personal service which is often lacking in the larger ferries used by their rivals.

dartmoor national park

Moors, villages and ponies.

When you visit Devon, and travel into the very heart of it, you will discover a magical, ancient landscape of stunning views, awe-inspiring granite tors, deep wooded valleys with fast flowing rivers, and rugged, wide-open spaces. This is Dartmoor, where you can truly escape to find peace, quiet and extreme beauty.

Widecombe-in-the-Moor

Very well known for its annual extravaganza, the Fair, Widecombe is a superb place to add onto your holiday itinerary! With tearooms, hotels, shops, pubs and the most gorgeous of settings, this village is one to savour, as very often the wild ponies, sheep and cattle meander on the village green! The scenery surrounding the village is stunning as you come down the very steep hill it is just enchanting.

Spitchwick Common

A large, grassy area running along a bend in the River Dart where families have picnics and wild swimming in the holiday season. It is known for its natural beauty and is easily accessible from Ashburton and South Devon beyond. In places, rough-cut giant granite steps lead down to beautifully clean moorland water. Cliffs rise on the far side of the river at the top of its bend and you will see people fling themselves off the side into the far, deep channel of water.

To visit, follow the road that runs from Ashburton past the River Dart Country Park towards New Bridge (Newbridge). You cross the skinny New Bridge as it spans the River Dart. The main car park and toilets are in front of you. From there, you follow the north bank of the river under New Bridge to the Spitchwick area. You will see the grassy area open out in front of you with the bend in the river and cliff face behind.

  • So organised - So well organised. All had seat reservations and the coaches were extremely clean. The river cruise did not disappoint and without doubt one of the best commentaries I have ever heard. Without exception everyone enjoyed the day out, and thought it was the highlight of our holiday. A credit to all.
  • Fantastic visit - We chose to do the steam train and river cruise and it was fantastic. The staff were very helpful. After using the ferry to cross the river we went to find somewhere to have a snack before getting onto the cruise. The commentary was brilliant and we were pointed out different landmarks throughout the cruise. Thank you Dartmouth Steam Railway.
  • Brilliant! - We had to write to tell you what a thoroughly enjoyable trip we had on your "Steam Train & Cruise". The train was brilliant and the cruise was a revelation. We will be back to experience it again. Thank you.
