Dinner and a show in the West End

It's your choice of restaurant and a show in london's west end.

London's fabled West End theatre district has been the city's hub of theatrical entertainment since early in the 19th century. Often referred to as "Theatreland" today, the district comprises some 40 theatres set in or near the heart of London's West End, in such streets as the Strand, Shaftesbury Avenue and Drury Lane. During your stay in London, you'll enjoy a memorable evening in the West End with both dinner and a show at a restaurant and theatre of your choice.

Private capsule on the London Eye

Soaring over london aboard the london eye.

Your family will feel as though they are part of the London skyline when they get a bird's-eye view of the city while soaring high above it in Tauck's private observation capsule. Centuries of history are put into perspective as you gaze down from your unique perspective 450 feet above the Thames River... truly the world's most exciting observation wheel!

Private tour and lunch at Alnwick Castle

Through the centuries with an early-entry private tour and medieval lunch at alnwick castle.

11th-century Alnwick Castle is home to the Duke of Northumberland and his family... but it's such a quintessential medieval castle that it's often used as a film location – "Becket," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "Elizabeth" – and played an illustrious role as Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the first two "Harry Potter" films. On TV, it showcased its rich World War I-era heritage as "Brancaster Castle" in "Downton Abbey's" 2014 Christmas special. On your early-entry private tour, you'll explore with interpreters who share inside stories of its dramatic history and famous residents – including 14th-century Sir Henry Percy, the "Hotspur" immortalized in Shakespeare's "Henry IV, Part 1" – and enjoy a glass of mead and a medieval lunch.

The one... the only... The Savoy

Welcome to The Savoy... a place where history and iconic elegance mingles with new-world sophistication. A world-famous name, celebrated for sublime service, and graced by stars, dignitaries and the global jet-set… where Art Deco rubs shoulders with English Edwardian, and exceptional dining blends with contemporary cocktails. The definitive destination in the heart of London, The Savoy stands proudly on the Northbank of the River Thames. The ballet, opera and theatre of vibrant Covent Garden are just steps away, with the City, world-renowned museums and galleries, and the designer shopping of Knightsbridge and Mayfair within easy reach.

Good morning

Good evening

"What is there to not love about England. Real life castles, Princes and Princesses, stunning scenery, and historic streets lined with lively pubs everywhere you go!”

Aryan, Travel Director

Admire the British capital from the London Eye

Watch London unfurl from the iconic 135-metre height of the London Eye. The unmatched views extend in every direction, reaching Buckingham Palace, the river Thames and the famed clock tower of the Palace of Westminster. All London’s highlights in one peaceful, 30-minute rotation.

Take in the views of Britain's Lake District

Delve into Britain’s natural wonders and take in the panorama of rolling hills, rocky mountains and glittering waters of the Lake District. Abounding in outdoor opportunities from cruises to hilltop walks, you'll find serenity in this national park resting between Leeds and Glasgow.

Visit the Roman baths in Bath

Turn back the clock 2,000 years at the remarkably preserved remains of the Roman Baths. Still flowing with steaming, geothermally heated water, the ancient stone pavements reveal the culture behind the simple daily task of washing. Let time stand still staring at a spring filled with 12,000 Roman coins.

Enjoy the guided tour of Liverpool

Sink into the nostalgia of the Beatles, cruise along the Mersey River and sample real ale at the Albert Docks. A visit to Liverpool is an invitation to uncover the many layers of British culture; the UK's fifth largest city means more than the passion of its football club.

See the Stonehenge's stone monoliths

Southwest England’s soil is rich with mystery. Stand in the shadows of Stonehenge’s stone monoliths and let your imagination be sparked by the secrets of this 5,000-year history. Weighing up to 30 tonnes each, the weight of history will leave its mark on you.

Our top 5 things to do in England

Mysterious stone monoliths and preserved ancient baths prove there is so much more to see beyond the limits of London city. Let Trafalgar turn the pages of the history book that is England.

The British Museum

The British Museum is a ticket to relics that reveal some two million years of human history. Feel small standing beneath the colossal presence of Rameses II and contrast the myth and reality of Troy with the graphic world of Manga. This London highlight will take you on a journey of time travel.

Natural History Museum

The Natural History Museum takes you on an unfathomable discovery of the formation of the solar system and its path to the present. Trace the origin of our species under the shade of a T. rex and glimpse rare meteorites straight from the surface of Mars. If this doesn’t shake you, the earthquake simulator most certainly will.

Victoria and Albert

The Victoria and Albert Museum is an encounter with the very best of human creativity in almost every medium. Here you will design your own bioplastic bag, step behind the creative lens of Christian Dior and take a literal walk in history’s shoes admiring a 2,000 strong collection spanning 3,000 years.

Best museums in England

A cultural epicentre of the planet steeped in royal heritage, the museums of England sparkle like the Crown Jewels. Let Trafalgar guide you through the very best the region has to offer.

Fish & Chips

It’s hard to separate the partnership of fish 'n' chips. Try this traditional meal both from a gourmet restaurant and a local 'chippie' wrapped in newspaper. Always with lashings of salt and vinegar on top.

Sunday Roast

Embrace the traditional English Sunday lunch with roast meats, a side of vegetables and an indulgent topping of gravy. The joy of this simple culinary experience is best served in a traditional English pub complete with football on the screen and a few stouts.

Full English breakfast

The full English breakfast is a requisite of a trip to England. A hearty plate piled with fried bacon, grilled tomatoes, buttered toast, mushrooms, eggs, beans, and black puddingis hard to resist.

Best food in England

Food is at the heart of every journey when you travel to England. This is a country of warm and hearty meals, our trips will show you the very best of it.

What to pack for England

People packing for a tour

With a high chance of experiencing four seasons in one day, an umbrella is a must when visiting England, both for rainy days and occasions when the sun beams down.

Digital maps

It's always good to have a backup of digital maps on standby when you're out exploring in your own time. Download them prior to your trip so you can reach them even when your phone is offline.

Travel adaptor

Though many hotels will have adaptors available for use, being prepared with your own will ensure you're always charged and ready to go.

A good book

With a seemingly infinite list of parks found in England, don't forget to pack a novel and immerse yourself in a good book should the occasion arise.

With days full of adventure and numerous souvenirs tempting your strolls, a day pack will ensure your hands always remain free. Split the weight across your back with a double strap bag for extra comfort.

Pack for sustainable travel

Consider your environmental impact when you next take a trip and go single-use-plastic-free by packing a reusable water bottle, a steel straw, your own shopping bags and toiletry bottles.

Guide to Planning a Trip

There are so many different vacation packages to choose from when visiting England, let’s break it down and give you a few important things to consider!

Winchester Cathedral

Where to Visit? England, Scotland, Britain, UK, United Kingdom….

This can get confusing so let’s start out by getting a few things straight!

England is part of what is officially called The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland . That’s a very long name to keep using! So to make things a little easier, we’ll just call it the UK.

The UK is made up of 4 regions – England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland . And across the border from Northern Ireland lies the country of Ireland (which is totally independent from the UK.)

So the first question to ask when looking for an England vacation package. Are you looking just to visit England? Or do you also want to visit other parts of the United Kingdom as well?

There are a few ways to plan an England Vacation Package. You could visit:

100% England Packages (we’ve got plenty of amazing things to see here!)

England with Scotland Packages: Combine a trip and go to Scotland as well!

England, Scotland & Ireland Packages : The big trip! These vacation packages sometimes also include Northern Ireland as well. For this size of trip, we recommend packages that are at least 2 weeks long!

And what about Wales? Many of the vacation packages also include 1 or 2 days in Wales

So in this article, we’ll divide up our vacation packages into 4 – ‘100% England Packages’, ‘England & Scotland Packages’, ‘England & Ireland Packages’ & finally ‘Special Packages’

What are our special vacation packages ? Well… these are packages that are based around a specific theme or event. In 2024, we have the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo Parade in July.

Plus we’ve got some amazing vacation packages for Downton Abbey fans, Game of Thrones fans, Outlander fans, as well as some awesome walking trips, railway trips and even adventure trips!

That’s a lot of England vacation packages to sift through! So please use the contents at the top of the page to navigate directly to what interests you.

We hope you find this guide useful. Please contact the Tourist England team if you have any questions!

family tour england

How much would a trip to England cost?

This really depends on the length of your vacation package and the size of the group. Prices can range anywhere from $1,800 per person for an 8 day trip in a large group to over $5,000 for a 14-day small-group tour of England.

How many days do you need in England?

We would say that at least 7 days is a good amount of time to explore many of the highlights of England and get a feel for the country. Of course, you could easily spend many more days exploring the best of England, Scotland and Ireland with our amazing vacation packages from London !

How Can I spend 10 days in the UK?

We have many package tours that are 10 days in duration. Typically these trips depart from London and you can expect to spend 7-8 days in England, with 2-3 days in Scotland. With these kinds of holidays, you will normally travel in a loop, travelling north from London along the east side of England, heading into Scotland and then returning to London via the west side of England, with a little bit of Wales as well. Regions you’ll visit include Yorkshire, the Lake District, Scotland and London.

Do these vacation packages include financing options?

Many of the packages offer financing options, allowing you to spread out the cost of the trip over multiple payments. Many of the tours also require a low-value deposit in order to secure your place on the tour.

Do all-inclusive vacations get cheaper closer to date?

Normally booking well in advance is a good way to get a great price on vacation deals, since travel companies like people to book early. Vacation packages will only get cheaper closer to the travel date if the travel company is struggling to fill up the tour.

Is there a package to London and Paris?

We have a 9-day London and Paris vacation package that’s perfect for you! Spend a few days in London before hopping over the English channel and spend some time exploring the French capital.

Do you have mini-vacation packages to England?

Yes, we also have a selection of multi-day tours from London that last 2-5 days, as well as Scotland minibreaks from Edinburgh . These are great options if you are looking to visit a lot of sights but are pressed for time.

Upon request, Artisans of Leisure will also arrange reservations for dining and afternoon tea, book tickets to performances, and provide recommendations for the best shopping in London. Accommodation is at one of London's best luxury hotels.

Continue by train or short flight to Edinburgh , the stunning capital of Scotland, with a stay in a sophisticated city hotel. See iconic Edinburgh Castle and walk along the Royal Mile, the road leading from the castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Your guide will regale you with fascinating, and at times, spine-tingling, stories about the historic buildings lining the road. Adults and children alike will also enjoy exploring historic buildings, as well as the narrow closes (alleys) and stairways that connect different levels of the city. Visit shops specializing in wool tweed and other distinctive Scottish products. Other touring and leisure time options in Edinburgh include tour the Royal Yacht Britannia, the former royal yacht of the British monarch; the Brass Rubbing Center; and Our Dynamic Earth. Depending on your family's interests, you might like to visit the Royal Botanic Garden or National Gallery; tour the unusual architecture of the Scottish Parliament Building and other contemporary design highlights in the city; or hike up an extinct volcano for panoramic views of Edinburgh and the nearby Firth of Forth tidal bay. In August, Artisans of Leisure can assist with tickets to the Edinburgh Tattoo or performances at the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe.

Next, you will be transferred to the Scottish Highlands with touring en route. Visit Stirling , a strategic town on the edge of the Highlands that played an important role in the battles for Scottish independence. Tour Stirling Castle, which perches on a rocky outcrop and has panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. Also visit the National Wallace Monument, a landmark dedicated to one of Scotland's greatest heroes. Continue through the breathtaking scenery of Glen Coe , one of the most beautiful regions in the Highlands.

Stay at a luxury hotel in the Highlands countryside near Fort William . One day, enjoy a private scenic excursion to experience the best of the Scottish Highlands. Tour among the beautiful lochs and glens of Scotland's dramatic west coast, stopping to visit charming small towns and atmospheric castles. Watch as the Jacobite Train—made famous in the Harry Potter movies—passes over the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct and opt to enjoy leisurely hiking in the area. Alternatively, see standing stones and other ancient sites, or enjoy a boat ride to look for porpoises, otters and sea birds. Other options include seeing a working sheepdog demonstration; enjoying historic touring around Inverness and Culloden; or searching for Nessie on a boat cruise on Loch Ness. Upon request, Artisans of Leisure can also arrange additional special-interest touring, such as visiting Outlander sites, watching Highland Games in the summer, or taking an excursion by private charter flights to Islay for in-depth distillery visits.

Next, transfer back through the Highlands, stopping en route at scenic spots, traditional towns, castles or whisky distilleries according to your preferences. Stay at Gleneagles, a luxury resort on 850 acres in the rolling hills of the Perthshire countryside. During leisure time, enjoy the resort's extensive activities, including options such as countryside walks, golf, fishing, horseback riding, biking, 4WD tours, shooting, gundog training, falconry and afternoon tea. England ms1

A world in a city is a common way to describe the metropolis of London, the capital of England. A cultural melting pot of over 230 nationalities, London is the financial, political and cultural capital of the UK. It is booming with activity and bursting with sightseeing treasures. You’ll find historic highlights from the haunting Tower of London to the ornate Buckingham Palace and more modern attractions such as the world-famous Harrods department store and the towering London Eye.

England ms2

The historic walled city of York in North Yorkshire is located in the northern part of England. Today York is still encircled by its ancient medieval walls. York was founded by the Romans in A.D. 71 and is considered to be one of the great cities of the medieval world.

England ms3

Gaze upon the charming thatched-roof homes that line quaint streets of this south central area of England. The Cotswolds are roughly 25 miles across and 90 miles long, stretching from Stratford-upon-Avon to Bath. The Cotswolds run mainly though the counties of Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire. The region is known for its small towns and villages, made from golden colored Costwold stone as well as lush greenery and rolling hills.

England ms4

Buckingham Palace (Changing the Guard):

Queen Elizabeth's residence in London, Buckingham Palace is the ornate icing on the cake of England's capital city. Serving Britain's sovereigns since 1837, Buckingham Palace is the end point for parades and special events in the city as well as the daily Changing the Guard. Hundreds gather daily to watch the official changing of the Queen's Guards in the area outside of the palace gates and to get a glimpse of the palace itself.

Cardiff is the capital and the largest city in the country of Wales. Surprisingly it has only been the capital city of Wales since 1955. Two hours from London by train, Wales is the base for many national cultural and sporting institutions and is home to many of Wales’ sporting venues and sports teams. Travelers can explore its connection to the Iron Age, ancient Rome and the Norman Conquest. They’ll also fall in love with the famous Victorian shopping arcades.

England md2

Stonehenge:

Walk in the footsteps of so many before you when visiting prehistoric Stonehenge. This mysterious rock formation dates back to the Stone Age and remains one of the world’s most famous sites. Standing in the middle of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, Stonehenge is perhaps the most important prehistoric monument in England. And now, updates at the site will make it more accessible than ever! New galleries and visitor facilities will enhance the overall experience and understanding of Stonehenge for visitors of all ages and interests. Construction has started on three Neolithic houses which will be the focal point of the outdoor gallery at the new visitor center. These houses offer visitors a glimpse into the lifestyle of the people who built Stonehenge. The experience of seeing this timeless monument is not to be missed.

England md3

Standing at 315' tall, Big Ben is located in London near the Halls of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. An iconic image of London, Big Ben's clock dials are some of the largest in the world at 23' high. The current structure was built in 1858 after the previous clock tower was destroyed in a fire in the 1830s.

England md4

Lake District:

The Lake District is a mountainous region in northwest England. This region is famous for its lakes, mountains and forests. In this region hiking the mountain trails and boating on the lakes is a popular activity.

10 ideas for the best England itinerary for families

We normally like to do slow tourism , but from time to time, we do like to do shorter trips as well. Our time in England was a mix of slow travel and quick trips. We essentially did a big road trip around the country!

As we traveled throughout England with kids, I couldn’t help but take note of our favorite parts of this country so that I could share it with you all. Eventually, I ended up with this list of ideas and travel tips for an itinerary in England for families.

The front entrance of the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, England

This is by no means an extensive list. There are undoubtedly many places that we missed. But it’s certainly a good introduction to England. My hope is that you use this England itinerary to give your family ideas of where to explore on your own family vacation to England.

Take a look at our ten suggestions for places to visit in England with kids. I’ve highlighted things to do in each location. And I’ve also added a suggested number of days, to give you an idea of how long to stay.

You don’t need to do everything on the list. For example, if you’re trying to plan for a 10 day England itinerary, you can pick three spots to really deep dive into. Or if you’re planning to spend two or three months in England, you can expand your time in each location, and explore other destinations too.

London has many family friendly points of interest, so you’ll want to use your time wisely while you’re visiting this city in England with kids. I suggest at least a week in the city if your England itinerary allows it. But if you have 10 days in England, or fewer, then plan for at least two full days to visit London with kids .

The front entrance of the British Museum on a visit to England with kids as part of an England itinerary

Many museums are free, such as the British Museum , the Victoria and Albert Museum , the Natural History Museum , and the Science Museum . This is great news if you're trying to visit England with kids on a budget. Famous landmarks, such as the Tower of London , Globe Theatre , and Westminster Abbey , however, will have an admission fee.

There are plenty of unique markets to visit such as Borough Market and Camden Market . You can also visit parks like Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens . We enjoyed walking along the River Thames, via the Jubilee Walk , or taking a boat ride along the Regent’s Canal .

London In a Day: Tower of London, Westminster Abbey & Changing of the Guard

London in a Day - Private Custom Walking Tour

Suggested number of days in London for your England itinerary: 2-5

2. Greater London, England itinerary options

There are so many wonderful places to see outside of London as well. You should be sure to include spending time in this area while you're in England with kids. If you’re not limited to a 10 day England itinerary, you’ll want to plan for at least a day doing one or two of these things. Many of the places are accessible by train, or you can book one of the tours highlighted below, which includes transport.

The town of Windsor, to the west of London, is home to Windsor Castle . Visitors can stroll through the grounds and tour the home where the Queen of England spends most of her private weekends.

If you’re more into a low key excursion during your time in England with kids, and you happen to be a Ted Lasso fan, take a visit to Richmond. Also situated west of London, Richmond is home to two beautiful parks: the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Richmond Park .

Book this tour of London, which includes a visit to Kew Gardens:

3. Brighton

Just south of London is the beach city of Brighton. This city is a must-visit for your England itinerary. However, if your time in England with kids is limited, you can also just spend a morning or afternoon here.

A popular beach holiday spot for Londoners, Brighton has the boardwalk atmosphere of Atlantic City, and the eccentricity of Venice Beach, with a touch of British charm thrown in the mix.

family tour england

If you have time in your England travel itinerary, plan to spend at least one full day in Brighton. You’ll want to walk along Brighton Pier and also enjoy the beachfront path. Shelter Hall is a great food hall to enjoy a meal, with a diverse selection of cuisines that you can purchase through an app. Even though the weather wasn't too great when we were there, Brighton was definitely a highlight during our time in England with kids.

You also don’t want to miss walking through The Lanes, a collection of pedestrian lanes and small streets full of eclectic shops, cafes, and restaurants. There is bus service in Brighton, but we didn’t need to use it as the city is very walkable.

4. Salisbury

I like to think of Salisbury as the gateway to Stonehenge . The UNESCO World Heritage Site is only 9 miles away from Salisbury. But the city of Salisbury is interesting in its own right. And families who come to England with kids will enjoy visiting this ancient town.

Stonehenge and Salisbury are great places to spend an afternoon if you have a limited 10 day England itinerary. But if you have more time, it’s worth adding a day or two to your England travel itinerary to explore Salisbury on its own.

family tour england

The city of Salisbury is located west of Brighton and southwest of London. The Salisbury Cathedral is home to one of the best surviving original copies of Magna Carta. A historic legal document drafted in 1215, Magna Carta led to the establishment of Parliament and laid the groundwork for documents like the US Constitution.

Central Salisbury is fun to explore when you're in England with kids, with shops and restaurants along the River Avon. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, be sure to visit the Salisbury Market . The city is walkable. And if you have a car, you can park in one of the public car parks located in the center of the city.

Ready for a change? Take the first step to living a life of full time travel.

If you’re a fan of Roman history (or a fan of the show, Bridgerton), then you’ll definitely want to include Bath in your England itinerary. The city of Bath dates back thousands of years. But it’s most well-known for the Roman baths that were created in 60 AD.

Today, Bath remains a popular tourist destination for families who come to England with kids. The city is not just known for the Roman baths, which you can still visit and tour, but also for its beautiful architecture and parks. If you’re limited to a 10 day England itinerary or shorter, plan to spend a morning visiting the Roman baths.

The Pulteney Bridge and a weir at the River Avon in Bath, a popular England itinerary destination for families visiting England with kids

But if you have more time to spend in Bath, be sure to visit the Royal Crescent, a set of homes built in the 1700s laid out in a crescent overlooking a well-manicured park. The homes feature prominently in many scenes in Bridgerton . You can take a tour of one of the homes at No. 1 Royal Crescent .

Also while in Bath, spend an afternoon having tea at one of Bath’s many tea rooms and cafes. This is a must and gives you a glimpse into Britain’s tea culture while you're in England with kids. And don’t forget to visit Bath Abbey , located near the Roman baths and built over a thousand years ago.

6. The Cotswolds

One of the most picturesque parts of England is the Cotswolds. This part of the country was once famous for its wool, from sheep that were introduced to this part of the world by the Romans.

Today, though, the Cotswolds are known for its well-preserved small villages that look like they’re straight out of a storybook. Wool is still an industry in the Cotswolds, but so is tourism. And no trip to England with kids is complete without a visit to the Cotswolds.

A footbridge over a river at Bourton-on-the-Water, England with ducks in the foreground, trees to the left, and a sidewalk lined with stores in the background

If you are on a limited 10 day England itinerary, plan to spend an afternoon at the Cotswolds. But if you have more time, it’s worth spending a day or two exploring the many small villages that make up the Cotswolds.

We enjoyed Bourton-on-the-Water, with its shop-lined river running through the village. There’s also the Model Village , a 1:9 scale replica of Bourton-on-the-Water that’s well-worth visiting.

7. Birmingham

While Birmingham might not be an obvious choice to include in an itinerary for England with kids (unless you’re a fan of the show, Peaky Blinders ), it’s definitely a city not to be missed. Even if you’re limited to a 10 day England itinerary, I highly suggest including one full day in this city.

The second largest city in England, and located in the West Midlands region of the country, Birmingham played a large role in the Industrial Revolution. This is primarily due to its close proximity to the Black Country, named because of its many coal mines. Because of the coal mines of the Black Country, Birmingham became the epicenter of industry and metal crafts.

family tour england

For worldschooling families visiting England with kids, Birmingham is a great destination for learning about science, technology, and history. You can learn about the area’s industrial history by visiting the Black Country Living Museum , just outside of the city. And within the city, you can visit museums like the Pen Museum or the more popular Think Tank Birmingham Science Museum .

Birmingham is also near to two places of interest: Warwick Castle and Cadbury World . Warwick Castle is a Medieval castle constructed by William the Conqueror in 1068. And Cadbury World is a family-friendly exhibition tour run by the Cadbury Company showcasing the chocolate-making process.

8. Stratford-Upon-Avon

For literary buffs, a visit to Stratford-Upon-Avon is a must in your itinerary for England with kids. The town of Stratford-Upon-Avon is the birthplace of William Shakespeare, one of England’s most famous writers. Plan to spend a morning in Stratford-Upon-Avon if you’re on a 10 day England itinerary, and at least a day if you have more time and flexibility.

family tour england

The town is small enough to walk around. There are shops around the town center, and you can tour Shakespeare’s actual house . Additionally, you can also visit the home of Anne Hathaway , Shakespeare’s wife.

For a different activity, take a visit to the Stratford Butterfly Farm . Kids will especially enjoy seeing the wide variety of butterflies included at the butterfly farm.

For worldschooling families who love to incorporate learning into our travels , a visit to the town of Oxford during their time in England with kids is not to be missed. Oxford is home to the oldest university in the English-speaking world, the University of Oxford. And it’s also host to the Bodleian Library , the second largest library in the United Kingdom.

The town of Oxford is referenced in countless pieces of literature and film. Most recently, Oxford has been the setting for several Harry Potter film scenes. If you’re on a limited 10 day England itinerary, spend an afternoon here. But if you have more days to spare on your England itinerary, then plan at least one full day.

family tour england

We were unfortunately not able to explore Oxford during our England itinerary, although we did drive through the city. But we intend to come back and visit the next time we come to England with kids.

10. Lake District

If your England itinerary allows, take a visit to the northern part of England to the Lake District . This area of England is filled with beautiful lakes, mountains, national parks, and small villages. It’s a wonderful option for experiencing the natural beauty of the country while visiting England with kids.

If you’re limited to a 10 day England itinerary, I wouldn’t suggest visiting the Lake District due to its distance from London. This was what happened during our first England itinerary. We simply didn't have time!

But the second time we were in England with kids, we did have a chance to visit the Lake District, and it didn't disappoint. This part of England is beautiful. The best time to go is in the summer, where you can fully experience the outdoors, and maybe even do some camping while you’re there.

Basic information for your England itinerary

As you're preparing for your trip to England with kids, take some time to get acquainted with some basic travel information. England is part of the larger country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. There are four countries within the United Kingdom: England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Out of these four countries, England is the largest.

Giant stones of Stonehenge on green grass with a blue sky in the background

The language spoken in England is English, but each region of England has their own distinct accent. During our time in England with kids, we loved chatting with locals and hearing their accents!

In terms of lodging, you'll be able to find plenty of Airbnbs and vacation rentals throughout England. You can also use Booking to find hotels across all budget ranges for your trip to England with kids. Alternatively, consider doing house sitting with kids to SAVE BIG on accommodations.

Before your trip, you and your kids can learn about England and the United Kingdom with this book:

The Big Book of the UK: Facts, folklore and fascinations from around the United Kingdom

I also suggest buying a guidebook for your England with kids trip. We like this one from Rick Steves:

Rick Steves England

Best time to visit England with kids

If you’re planning to visit England with kids, the best time for your England itinerary is between the months of April to October. This is when the weather is the warmest.

family tour england

However, be aware of when British children go on school holidays as that will impact the crowds during your trip. August is the summer vacation month for British school kids. But during the year, there are also one to two week-long breaks between school terms in April and December. Additionally, there are also week-long breaks in the middle of the term (called half term) during the months of February, June, and October.

As you’re planning your best England itinerary, be mindful of these school holidays so that you know what crowds to expect.

What to pack for your England itinerary

Depending on the time of year, you’ll want to make sure you’re packed for the weather for your England with kids trip. Having a lightweight sweater or cardigan may come in handy.

Because England’s climate can be rainy, even in the summer, you’ll want to pack a waterproof jacket to prepare for the weather. We like bringing these jackets along for our trip to England with kids:

Columbia Kids & Baby Rainy Trails Fleece Lined Jacket

family tour england

Additionally, you also want to make sure you have things like cloth tote bags for when you visit farmer’s markets or go souvenir shopping. Many stores in England, especially grocery stores, now charge for the use of plastic bags, so having your own tote bag is helpful. You can also consider bringing other eco-friendly travel products to make your trip more sustainable.

If there's a holiday or a birthday coming up, take it as an opportunity to give travel gifts for your kids that can prepare them for your England trip.

Take a look at our favorite backpacks for travel with kids to bring along for your trip.

Getting around England with kids

It’s surprisingly easy to get around England with kids. The country has an extensive rail system. And you can get to most cities and towns by train. Additionally, there are over 30 airports in England.

However, in our opinion, the best way to get around England with kids in tow is by car. International rental companies that service England include Hertz, Enterprise, Budget, and Thrifty. Use Expedia to find great England car rentals .

A statue of Queen Victoria in front of Kensington Palace, a stop during an England itinerary for families while visiting England with kids

When driving around England, remember that drivers drive on the left-hand side of the road. This is different from other European countries that we’ve been driven through, such as Spain , Italy , or France .

British roads and speed limit signs use miles, just like in the United States. Additionally, British roads will often use roundabouts instead of stop lights, so you’ll need to be familiar with how to get in and out of a roundabout.

Making memories with your England itinerary

We had such an amazing time visiting England with kids. We feel like even a month and a half is not enough time to really experience this country and do all the England kids activities we wanted to do. Next time, we want to plan for a longer England itinerary, to really get a feel for what England has to offer.

If you’re planning a trip to England with kids, feel free to use this England itinerary as a starting off point for making your own memories of England. Whether it’s for a short 10 day England itinerary, or a longer three month stay, England is well worth a visit. This country is full of so much history, culture, and beauty, we know that you’ll love it as much as we did.

15 Amazing London Tours for Kids Worth Booking

Our family loves spending time in London. We most recently went on a London family vacation in June 2022 with our 8-year-old and 5-year-old. We love doing tours, so we added a bunch to our London itinerary .

These are the ones that we recommend to anyone visiting London with kids.

Double-Decker Bus Tour of London

I’ll be frank, my kids HATE having to walk miles every day when we visit London. So, I’m always looking for ways we can sit down but still go sightseeing.

London has a ton of double-decker bus tours that are pretty awesome and you really can’t go wrong with any of them.

Image of a boy on a double decker bus with Big Ben in the background

There is one that is specifically designed for kids, though. It’s with Tootbus (I promise they will laugh at the name) and it’s only 45 minutes long. Check the latest rates and availability .

Private Harry Potter Walking Tour for Families

To be honest, there are LOTS of Harry Potter tours in London that are pretty cool. But this one is perfect for families.

Embark on a magical 3-hour private tour with your family, exploring Harry Potter’s filming locations in London.

Image of two boys wearing Hogwarts robes while looking at a shop window in London

Visit famous spots such as Diagon Alley, the Ministry of Magic, and Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross Station, all while enjoying captivating Harry Potter stories. Check the latest rates and availability .

Harry Potter Locations Sightseeing Bus Tour

While I personally think that Harry Potter walking tours are the way to go, there’s also an option to do a bus tour instead.

You’ll still see a lot of the same filming sites and even get off the bus to take photos. And your kids might not complain as much since they aren’t walking.

This Harry Potter bus tour covers King’s Cross Station, the Millennium Bridge and more. Check the latest rates and availability .

Harry potter studio tour.

If you have any Potterheads in your family, you’ll definitely want to do a day trip to the WB Studios in London .

We did this specific tour because it included transportation from Victoria Station and we didn’t have to stress about getting there on our own.

Image of a boy reading about Quiddich at the WB Studios Harry Potter Tour

Plus, we could just relax on the bus ride to and from the Warner Brothers Studio Tour.

The studio tour itself is INCREDIBLE! You won’t run out of things to do/see or photos to take. It’s seriously impressive! Check the latest rates and availability .

Afternoon Tea Double Decker Bus Tour

While there are TONS of London afternoon tea spots, it’s really fun to enjoy it on a double-decker bus !

Image of a boy having afternoon tea on a vintage double decker bus in London

For kids, they have the option of doing hot chocolate instead of tea and it comes in a tumbler with a LID! And there are tons of great food items for the whole family.

You’ll ride around London on a sightseeing tour WHILE enjoying afternoon tea. It’s great for people short on time or attention spans. Check the latest rates and availability .

Book a Family Photo Shoot

Whenever we travel, we almost always book a family photo shoot with Flytographer. They are super easy, affordable, AND guarantee that I’ll be in some photos. You can get $25 off if you book through this link or use the code HAWAIITRAVEL.

Wizard Afternoon Tea at The Wands and Wizard Exploratorium

Another unique afternoon tea experience is this Harry Potter version . Yes, it involves casting spells with wands!

While you’ll get to enjoy tasting afternoon tea items, you’ll also learn about molecular gastronomy and use technology to create your tea concoctions. Check the latest rates and availability .

Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace

It would be a shame to visit London without seeing the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace .

Image of a mom and boy in front of the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace

It’s a formal ceremony in which the soldiers currently on duty, known as the Old Guard, are relieved of their responsibilities by a new set of soldiers, called the New Guard, all choreographed to military music.

While you can do it on your own for free, it’s really helpful to do a tour because your guide will know the best place to stand, can explain to kids what’s going on, and knows the backup plans in case of rain. Check the latest rates and availability .

Paddington Bear Walking Tour

If your kids love the Paddington Bear books or movies, this is such a cute tour for families ! You’ll get to hang out in Paddington Station and see the famous statue of Paddington Bear.

You also get to walk past the site of Mr. Gruber’s antique store and see the inspiration for Windsor Gardens, (where the Brown family lived).

The tour guide will ask kids lots of trivia questions and keep them engaged as they explore London. Check the latest rates and availability .

British Museum Private Tour for Kids & Families

Our family LOVES doing private museum tours when we travel. It’s a great way for our kids to stay engaged while learning about art or history from an expert.

The British Museum is a public institution dedicated to human history, art and culture and is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence.

While you can visit the British Museum for free, I highly recommend booking this tour because you’ll get to see tons of historic treasures and find out why they are important.

Plus, your guide will tell cool stories and play games with your kids. Check the latest rates and availability .

England's Kris Kim, 16, set to make PGA Tour debut, following in footsteps of his LPGA mom

H igh-level golf runs in the family for 16-year-old Kris Kim, who will make his PGA Tour debut this week at the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. Kim’s mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, played on the LPGA in 1998 and 1999, at the same time superstar Se Ri Pak burst onto the global stage.

Kim, who hails from Surrey, England, brings quite the resume to Texas. His 2023 triumphs include the R&A Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys Individual Championship and the McGregor Trophy.

He also went undefeated at the Junior Ryder Cup, defeating another up-and-coming star, Miles Russell, 5 and 4, in singles. The 15-year-old Russell, of course, tied for 20th recently on the Korn Ferry Tour .

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4gQMr6CyPi/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

“I can’t wait to play in front of big crowds again. I’ve never hit the ball as far as I did at the Ryder Cup,” Kim said in a release. “The adrenaline rush makes golf so much fun. That said, having played that course, and a few more Tour courses, I appreciate the task ahead and look forward to the challenge.”

Kim, who is playing in McKinney on a sponsor exemption, became the first amateur sponsored by CJ Group last May. Managed by Trinifold Sports, Kim also became the first European amateur to sign an NIL deal with Under Armour and the first British amateur to sign with TaylorMade.

Suh, who briefly returned to competition in Europe in 2014 after a 12-year break, told tour officials that she took up golf at age 13 in Seoul after her father forced her to quit tennis.

“My father would take me at five in the morning and I would hit balls all day and my hands would hurt,” she said. “I didn’t like it very much, but my father did. So I continued practicing from the age of 13 and I became very good. Then, I joined the Korean National team, turned professional in 1998 and afterwards I decided to try and play in America.”

Suh recorded two T-15 finishes in 1998 on the LPGA at the Friendly’s Classic and Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.

Her stint in America fell short, she said, because her English wasn’t very good and it was difficult to travel on her own. With no sponsors in the U.S., she ultimately left for the Japan LPGA, where she played for one year until she met her husband and stopped altogether.

That was in 2002. The couple moved to Surrey and Suh took up a teaching career at a local golf course.

While Suh’s path into the game was laid out by her father, Cuddington Golf Club director Paul Schunter told BBC Sport that Kim’s passionate pursuit is self-motivated.

“I’ve never known a more dedicated youngster,” said Schunter, who watched Kim’s game develop as a youngster at Cuddington.

“And he could not have asked for better parents. They have been so encouraging. All the pushing has come from Kris because he has always wanted to play and practice more and more.”

Kim doesn’t have to look far to learn more about how to handle the next step of his career.

“I’ll definitely ask my mum for advice,” he said. “It is going to be a very different environment and you don’t know how you will respond to it. She’ll help me deal with it. She’s my coach and we talk about everything from dealing with nerves, taking one shot at a time, leaving bad shots behind and keeping it simple right through to course strategy.

“My first aim is to make the cut and then see what happens. At the end of the day I’m one of 144 competitors and we’ve all got a chance. Whatever happens, it’s going to be super helpful for my future because I’ll gain so much experience. I know I’m still young and pretty much every week I learn a lesson, but this week is going to be a lot bigger."

At the 2023 event, Harry joked about a rivalry with his wife, who he claimed was backing Nigeria after discovering her heritage.

“Now, I’m not saying we play favourites in our home, but since my wife discovered she’s of Nigerian descent, it’s likely to get a little bit more competitive this year,” he joked during his opening speech in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Places visited, suggested duration, customizable itinerary, london – arrive in fabulous london with the remaining day at leisure.

London is consistently one of the world’s top tourist destinations creating a cosmopolitan ambiance reflecting the milestones of British ingenuity in the form of art, architecture, and culture. Your flight lands at Heathrow Airport, where your private transfer greets the family upon your arrival. The streets of London bustle with an air of importance, as if everyone strolling along the sidewalks, walking along Millennium Bridge, or traveling in the Tube has a significant meeting they must attend. The pillars supporting the Neoclassical façade of the British Museum reflects the 13 million artifacts from around the ancient world protected within the exhibits and storage houses including the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon, the Rosetta Stone, and a giant bust of Ramesses II.

The National Gallery provides insight into the artistic visions from around Europe between 1260 and 1920 with a celebrated selection of Dutch and Italian masters between the 15th and 16th centuries. The kids marvel at the iconic image of the Clock Tower and its famous occupant Big Ben, the nickname for the Great Bell. The tower stands at 315 feet tall peeling every hour with the resounding gong of Big Ben. The family easily settles into the mixture of fascinating history at the heart of modern Britain for a captivating arrival in London.

What's Included:

London – Enjoy the City on a Classic Tour with Private Guide and Boat Ride

London is a city with so much history to see and never enough time to experience all the little details shaping its former and current grandeur. The River Thames rushes through the heart of the city beneath the reflecting façade of the recognizable tower known as the Gherkin and the antique walls of the Tower of London. Your guide leads you from Westminster Abbey to the Buckingham Palace and eventually taking you through the gates of the infamous complex that transitioned from a prison to a palace on the north bank.

The tower has played a prominent role in the history of England and the city’s illustrious past as an armory, treasury, home of the Royal Mint, and home to the Crown Jewels. The White Tower was named for the stone with which it was built and was the strongest structure connected to the former medieval complex.

The Line of Kings was established in the mid-17th century displaying a collection of hunting and sporting weapons, arms and armor used in tournaments. The Crown Jewels make a distinct impression on kids inside the Jewel House. The Imperial State Crown was crafted in the 1830s for the coronation of Queen Victoria with more than 2,800 diamonds and precious stones. It glistens under the soft flight in the museum display.

London – Relish the Scenery at Windsor Castle with a Tour and High Tea

At breakfast, you notice the herbaceous aroma of black tea filling the dining room accompanied by the sound of sizzling sausages emanating from the kitchen. You enjoy the simple pleasures of a familiar breakfast or delight in the hardy flavors of a traditional English breakfast before the family embarks on a day trip to Windsor. The twin towns of Windsor and Eton stand on opposite banks of the Thames River. Schoolboys dressed in uniforms stroll through the streets of Eton on their way to school. The morning fills with an air of pageantry during the changing of the guard at Windsor. Lavish boutique shops and beautiful cafes line the streets of the city center as restaurants open their doors to passing patrons.

Windsor Castle represents the world’s largest and oldest continuously inhabited fortress. Before entering the majestic battlements and towers, the kids partake in an archery lesson. You test your marksmanship skills as well, learning the proper way to hold the bow and arrow. The kids make jokes about Robin Hood as they make an open stance with their shoulders perpendicular to the target. They rest the arrow’s shaft on the bow and attach the grooved end known as the “nock” to the bowstring.

They grip the string with their knuckles wrapped around but not touching the nock, draw back, and release the arrow to the target. Shimmering armor flanks the Grand Staircase alongside a statue of Queen Vitoria foreshadowing the opulence of the stately apartments. St. George’s Hall may hold 162 people during banquets all sitting beneath the towering ceiling decorated with images associated with the Knights of the Garter.

The splendors of the day do not stop at the gates to Windsor Castle and instead follow the family inside a traditional setting known for glittering banquets. Your instructor welcomes the family with a soft and gentle accent before introducing you to the art of making proper scones within the elaborate setting of Guildhall. The local baker fills the room with the scent of butter, lemon, and berries as the kids dig their fingers into the flour to get started.

Paris – Ride the Train from London to Paris to Explore the Louvre Museum

After a tasty breakfast readying the family for the day, you travel under the English Channel to reach Paris. The kids marvel at the engineering after learning they are riding on a train beneath the water separating England from France. The rolling hills of the southern English countryside have given way to the expansive lush greenery of the northern French landscape dotted with grazing cows and rolled hay bale. The renowned city of Paris is often associated with the finer delicacies of life, from chocolates to clothing, dining to art. However, the cobbled leans of the Left Bank and the grand architecture of the Belle Époque reflect a city able to enchant the entire family instead of relegating the streets solely to couples.

After spending time getting accustomed to the comforts of your accommodations, your private guide leads the family on an immersive tour of the Louvre Museum. The palace was once home to the kings of France until the 17th century when Louis XIV transferred the royal family to Versailles.

Today, the Louvre possesses more than 30,000 works of art over 652,000 square feet. Your guide turns the children into detectives searching the museum for clues while you take in the greater majesty of the famous collection. The Venus de Milo embodies the artistic elegance of Greek sculptures rising to one of the most famous ancient Greek works in modern times. The marble statue was crafted to depict the goddess of love and beauty, Aphrodite.

Paris – Bask in a Food-Tasting Tour and Wine Tasting Menu in Montmartre

The key to the perfect exploration of Paris is through the cuisine, with traditional cafes serving unforgettable pastries and hidden restaurants offering the succulent flavors of traditional Parisian dishes. At breakfast, you sip a decadent cappuccino brimming with flavors of chocolate and caramel. The kids indulge in the sweet taste and thick texture of hot chocolate made with whole milk. Your guide escorts you into the Le Marais district for a flavorful exploration of one of the city’s historic districts. The streets remain the epicenter of chic boutique shops and designer hotels, dramatic art galleries and delectable cafes.

Your guide introduces the family to the home of Victor Hugo and the Place des Vosges, the oldest plaza in the city. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the fashionable nobility lived around the square resulting in the lavish architecture bordering the tranquil park. You dip into an elaborate chocolate shop known for its diverse flavors layered into fruit pastes, nougats, marshmallows, and caramels. The entire family is captivated by the depth of flavor in the chocolate and overjoyed about the mix of textures between the creamy caramel and almond crunch.

In the historic neighborhood of Montmartre, you relax at a welcoming restaurant away from the painters capturing the Sacre Coeur and the delightful scent of fresh baguettes. A local oenologist greets you at the table and introduces the children to the joys of delicious grape juice and cookies while you discover the splendors of three mesmerizing French wines. You relax in the ambiance once frequented by the likes of Monte Cézanne, and Toulouse-Lautrec as you find a bouquet of soothing aromas emanating from your glass.

Paris – Find the Opulence of Versailles, a Bike Tour, and the Eiffel Tower

The extravagance of the French monarchy emanates from the Royal Palace of Versailles, which was designed to dazzle foreign heads of state and visiting nobility. The symbol of power encompasses more than three square miles with a garden featuring 50 fountains and 200,000 trees. Your guide treats the family to the marvels of the interior in all its excessive opulence. The breathtaking Hall of Mirrors glitters along every inch of the 239-foot long room. 17 giant mirrors and 300 mirror segments reflect the windows, gilded statuary, and shimmering light fixtures for a striking glow passing between the King’s and Queen’s separate apartments. Once in the gardens, the family has a chance to explore the trails on bikes for a comprehensive tour of the landscape.

The Dragon Fountain captures the legend in which a young Apollo struck the serpent Python with his bow. You reach the miniature hamlet erected for Queen Marie-Antoinette as an escape from the stress of her royal life. The village reminded her of Austria and acted as a working village with farmhouses, a dairy, and mill. You return to central Paris to find the emblematic figure of the Eiffel Tower rising above the Champs de Mars.

Paris – Explore Notre Dame and Indulge in a Chocolate Workshop

The intricacies of Paris open the family’s minds and taste buds to the finer details of life as you begin the day with a tour of Notre Dame Cathedral. The fascinating architecture creates a gripping first impression with two immense towers and a single spire reaching 300 feet in height. The cathedral was founded in the 12th century under the reign of King Louis IX and the sitting Bishop Maurice de Sully, who wished to rival the storied Basilique Saint-Denis that now stands in the northern suburb of Paris.

The gothic design contains ethereal light shining through marvelous stained-glass windows and flying buttresses that revolutionized reinforcing the heavy walls of the age. Gargoyles adorn the balcony amidst the view overlooking the nave’s roof and spire. The typical features on gothic structures demand attention. The kids latch on to the gargoyles’ dreamy, fierce looks known for scaring away evil spirits. In the rain, their mouths act like spouts creating miniature waterfalls.

You continue to the Chocolate Museum for a lesson in the history of chocolate’s long journey from the rainforest in South America to celebrated confectionaries of Paris. After an introduction into marvelous travels of special treat, the family enters the workshop where you all become chocolatiers harvesting and shaping the cacao into your perfect candy. Your private chef teaches you how to properly temper the chocolate to create a proper consistency while slowly adding your preferred flavors, such as orange citrus, marshmallows, or pralines.

Paris – Depart for Home

At breakfast, you sip a frothy cappuccino and enjoy the stories the children retell about their favorite moments on the trip. You nibble on an airy macaron savoring the flavor of pistachio or strawberry while listening to the elaborate recounting of your visit to White Tower in London or discovering all the right clues during the scavenger hunt at the Louvre. You cannot help but think of the incredible art within arm’s reach while wandering the exhibits of the celebrated galleries. After breakfast, your private transfer greets the family in the hotel lobby and escorts you to Charles de Gaulle Airport for your flight home.

CAVALERA  has become synonymous with extreme metal music, a name that to this day still holds the highest regard, a family legacy built upon decades of musical aggression.

In 2023,  Max  and  Iggor Cavalera  achieved what some would say was an impossible feat; they revisited their earliest releases,  Morbid Visions,  and  Bestial Devastation , and re-recorded them with bone-breaking intensity. A risk that few would dare to even attempt, yet they artfully and prolifically attained their trademark raw sound by means that could only be described as magic or time travel.  It seems that the ball would not stop rolling as now they are entering the final chapter of their early-days trilogy.  Schizophrenia  is an iconic album in terms of early thrash and death metal, a household name for those of us invested in extreme metal. This was the point where the Cavalera’s refined their dark, dingy, speed-influenced songs, into something a bit more mature, developed, and technical. Decades later, they have once more unlocked the asylum that is  Schizophrenia , opening the doors to that banished, twisted recording which will be unleashed unto to world on June 21st via  Nuclear Blast Records . The first taste of the re-issue comes in the form of the live music video for the single. ‘ Escape To The Void ‘. Fans will enjoy footage filmed by  Costin Chioreanu  and  Olivia Chioreanu  from the band’s chilling performance at 013 Venue in Tilburg, Netherlands, 2023. Max Cavalera  states,  “The Third World Trilogy is finally complete with  Schizophrenia ,  Bestial Devastation , and  Morbid Visions , all three Brazilian underground gems! To me, Schizophrenia is the ultimate death/ thrash experiment! I was inspired to take on the world and this recording shows my commitment is relentless! This one is for all the generations to enjoy! Play at Max volume!” Iggor Cavalera  comments,  “1987 was a very progressive year for metal, with releases like  CELTIC FROST   Into The Pandemonium ,  VOIVOD   Killing Technology , and B ATHORY Under The Sign Of The Black Mark , so it was no surprise on how we approached  Schizophrenia  pushing our boundaries from a black/death metal sound to a more thrash metal aesthetics. We still had some ideas from  Morbid Visions  and some new songs. I’m very proud of the songwriting and even more proud of our re-recordings.”

No stranger to collaborations, the  Cavalera  brothers enlisted  Travis Stone  ( PIG DESTROYER ) on lead guitars, and that choice becomes obvious within the first song. The full line-up would consist of more  Cavalera  alumni, as  Igor Amadeus Cavalera  ( GO AHEAD AND DIE ,  HEALING MAGIC ) once more brought his talents on bass to the fold. Thundering and thrumming the low end with brute force, it is clear that the double Iggor and Igor combination is a rhythm section to be reckoned with.

It should come as no surprise that the  CAVALERA  brothers always felt that these songs deserved a fresh take with modern production. From April 15th to June 5th, 2023 the band re-recorded the album at  Focusrite Room  in Mesa Arizona. Mixing and mastering was handled by  Arthur Rizk  ( SOULFLY ,  GO AHEAD AND DIE ,  TURNSTILE ).

Schizophrenia ‘s album cover has obsessed and fascinated fans for decades. The brothers left no stone unturned and no detail unnoticed, also re-envisioning the original cover artwork of the album, restored in hand-painted watercolors by  Eliran Kantor .

This summer,  CAVALERA  will be traveling across Europe and the UK on their ‘ Third World Trilogy ‘ tour. The trek will kick off on June 12th in Leicester and will make stops in Wroclaw, Oslo, and Barcelona before ending in Switzerland on July 21st.

With the impressive catalogue that the  CAVALERA  brothers have created over the years, you will soon see that  Schizophrenia  will also sit amongst their greatest achievements. Max and Iggor have relinquished an album that for many years was locked away behind rusty, iron cell doors, barred by straight jackets and haunted by madness. From the past comes the storms as  Schizophrenia  is set loose on the world once more!

Great trip. Wonderful tour guides from Golden Tours. That was the only disappointing aspect. Would have been nice to know beforehand.

The locations were beautiful and getting from place to place by train was seamless. The Hotels booked were very nice and I did not run into any problems. My only concern is that for one of the walking tours, it was not as advertised in the itinerary and I wasn’t expecting a “witches tour” (it was supposed to be just a regular walking tour of the city’s history) but regardless it was a good time.

Oil traders working for the US firm Exxon Mobil Corp in Brussels could lose their job if they refuse to move to London, according to reports.

Under the new proposal employees moving to the UK capital would be expected to be in the office five days a week.

But traders working for the oil giant said in an internal union-led survey they did not want to move to London due to "uncompetitive" pay and a "lack of flexibility", a union statement reads, according to  Bloomberg .

Up to 37 trading employees now face having their contracts terminated as a result of this.

ExxonMobil has said it "remains open to resolving the situation".

The sports retailer is introducing tagging sprays across its stores nationwide as part of a ramping up of security measures.

It will start using SelectaDNA sprays, which can be misted on property and criminals.

The sprays work by leaving a synthetic DNA and UV marker which does not wash off and can be used to link assets to owners and criminals to crime scenes.

JD Sports said the measure was in response to a significant increase in shoplifting in UK.

In particular, it said it had seen a rise in "steaming" - where large gangs run into stores, threaten staff with violence and then run off with armfuls of stolen products.

The SelectaDNA spray reportedly does not cause any harm or damage to skin, clothing or property.

Lidl plans to open hundreds more supermarkets across Britain.

The German discount chain, which is now the UK's sixth biggest supermarket, is targeting thousands of new shoppers as it continues its expansion.

It currently has about 960 stores but is targeting more than 1,100 across England, Wales and Scotland.

In the coming months, the chain will welcome shoppers to new stores across the country, from Bristol, Birmingham and Berwick in Scotland.

In London, it will be opening new stores in Wandsworth, Fulham, Hoxton and Canning Town.

But it says it is eyeing growth in more locations. If it successfully finds a good location, it is willing to pay a finder's fee of 1.5% of the total freehold purchase price, or 10% of the first year's rent for leaseholds, which would equate to £22,500 for a completed £1.5m site purchase.

A finder's fee can be paid to any member of the public who identifies a suitable site for it to open a new store.

Richard Taylor, Lidl Great Britain's chief development officer, said the company was "continuing to invest in new locations whilst exploring innovative routes to expansion".

"As we look ahead, we're excited to welcome even more new shoppers to our existing stores, as well as those we're planning to open across the country in the coming months and years," he said.

Mortgage approvals rose to 61,300 in March - the highest number since September 2022.

They had been at 60,500 in February, according to the Bank of England.

While this is positive, industry experts are reporting that uncertainty over the direction of interest rates this year is prompting caution.

Mortgage rates have risen in the last few weeks as markets went from pricing in a base rate cut in June to thinking it may be August.

US inflation proving stubborn has led to concern here that the path to the 2% target may be bumpy - meaning the base rate may have to stay high in order to constrain spending and thus ease price rises.

Forecasts of three cuts this year from the current 5.25% have been scaled back to two.

Hina Bhudia, partner at Knight Frank Finance, said: "The sun is out and buyers are returning from their Easter break, so we'd usually expect these to be the busy weeks before the summer; however, the uncertain outlook for mortgage rates will undoubtedly weigh on activity.

"It's not just buyers that are frustrated. The lenders are eager to rebuild their businesses after a subdued 2023; however, they are constrained by stubborn inflation and the resulting impact on their cost of funding."

Following Sainsbury's boss Simon Roberts' claim that Britons like self-checkouts...

...we asked Money blog readers, and followers of our LinkedIn page , for their views.

While our inbox was filled with a lot of hate for self-checkouts, our poll of 2,613 people on LinkedIn shows that, overall, Mr Roberts was right...

We have rounded up some of your views here...

Self-checkout is the worst thing to ever happen. Standing like a child with your hand up, one person running up and down to deal with this, underpaid and understaffed. Janice Karaaziz, Money reader
I'll go out of my way to find a cashier, largely because my five-year-old will make a beeline for pressing the scales. I've noticed my local store having fewer and fewer cashiers on - and on many occasions there have been none. We need to think about inclusivity here. There will be some customers who will need a cashier for various reasons, so would expect there to always be at least one on, so stores are accessible for everyone. KaraS, LinkedIn
I try and limit my social interactions as much as possible, out of choice, so most of the time self-checkouts are convenient. Alasdair Corton, LinkedIn
They induce a level of irritation. Sometimes I can be heard answering them back. In general I choose to have my items flung at me by Lidl checkout staff. Siobhan W, LinkedIn
Self-checkout provides a great alternative to customers, especially those with smaller quantity purchases, but personally I think it's sad to see them dominate the front of Sainsbury's stores. In my opinion, it's the removal of one of the greatest ways to provide good customer service. Tom Tregay, LinkedIn
Self-checkouts are great, I will always choose to use one instead of a normal checkout. Some are easier to use than others, the Co-op and Tesco have easy-to-use interfaces whereas Morrisons is a bit more complicated. They'll evolve over time and there's always staff to help out. CG, LinkedIn
They're useful, but when they trigger a "basket check" on nearly every single shop, they begin to lose attractiveness Nicola Bradley, LinkedIn
I tend to argue with them lol. Especially when I can't get it to scan a particular item or you need approval for something so you have to wait for assistance anyway! Plus as a disabled customer I have to juggle my crutch, shopping, scanning and packing. With reduced staff in shops you can't always get the help you actually need. Elizabeth Graney, LinkedIn
Definitely not. So when I go to Sainsbury's I see a lot of older people and no way do they want to use self-checkouts. My mother lives in assisted living and all of them say they hate them. Get a grip, Simon - they are not faster, they are saving you employing more staff. I know my aunt has stood at an Asda til they put a staff member on there. Andrea Robinson, LinkedIn
Robots should never replace humans. Interaction is essential... if machines replace people no one will work, it's a crazy dangerous road. Nicola van Eerten, LinkedIn
The self-checkout is a money-saving exercise. They cut back everywhere. No staff on the shop floor to help. Paper bags in the veg section now cost 30p - for absolutely no reason. Mark, Money reader

Average advertised rents have hit a new high in the UK, according to Rightmove .

Across Britain, excluding London, the average monthly rent being asked for a property coming on the market in the first quarter of 2024 was £1,291, the property website found. This was 8.5% higher than a year earlier.

The average advertised rent in London also hit a fresh high in the first quarter of 2024 at £2,633 per month but this was just £2 higher than the average asking rent in the fourth quarter of 2023.

While average rents have climbed, the property website says there are signs that the pace of the increases is slowing.

There are also indications that more landlords are having to reduce their asking rents, particularly for bigger homes, to meet what tenants can afford.

Rightmove's director of property science, Tim Bannister, said the rental market was "no longer at peak boiling point" but it "remains at a very hot simmer".

We first came across Tom McPhail when he posted this on X...

The pensions expert appeared to be suggesting state pensions were at risk of disappearing.

After speaking to him on the phone, he confirmed that was exactly his concern, warning something needed to be done sooner rather than later to avoid a "catastrophic" situation.

He described state pensions as a social contract – each generation pays taxes and national insurance, which funds the pensions of today's older people, and they hope the following generation will do the same for them.

But with population growth slowing, there's a worry there may simply not be enough people to keep the system afloat in the future.

"There's a significant demographic shift going on in the UK. It started before the Second World War, cohorts of people born in the 1930s have been experiencing significantly longer lives than was the case prior to that, so people now in their 80s are living quite a lot longer," he said.

"But at the same time, we've got fewer children coming through. And so this exacerbates the shift in the age of the population."

He said if he was 20 today, he would be "sceptical" about the promise of a state pension because he isn't sure how it's going to be paid for.

At the moment, the state pension system costs around £120bn a year and more than half of retired people rely on it to make up at least 50% of their income, he added.

Over the next 50 years, Tom predicts the proportion of GDP the state spends on older people will increase from around 16% to 25%.

"I hesitate to use the word unsustainable, but it will certainly start to look challenging," he said.

"If we suddenly switched off the state pension or significantly reduced it, people would be in trouble, so the government can’t do that.

"You can't keep on progressively ratcheting up a more and more generous state pension. The costs of state pensions is going to become increasingly difficult for the younger cohorts to bear."

He pointed to a few ways to potentially salvage the state pension – policy change, more babies being born or people working until they are in their 70s.

"Politicians are going to have to make decisions about how to get out of this kind of political bind," Tom added.

"Time and time again it's just kick the can down the road on the pension question, just put a sticking plaster on it and let the next government deal with the problem.

"You can't keep doing that. So I would really like to see, on the other side of this forthcoming general election... whoever's in power, in collaboration with whoever's in opposition, to just really open it up to some honest conversations about where the demographics are going to take us."

He does note there is one piece of good news: "This happens quite slowly, so we do have time on our side."

Basically, swap rates dictate the pricing of fixed-rate mortgages.

Lenders, such as banks and building societies, borrow in order to lend.

They borrow from financial markets and often these transactions are made using Sterling Overnight Index Average (SONIA) swap rates, which can move around.

By contrast, most domestic mortgages are set on what is known as a "term" rate – in other words, the borrower knows how much interest they will be paying for a set period of time.

To avoid a situation where the SONIA rate goes above the rate it is charging borrowers, which would leave the bank or building society lending at a loss, the lender will seek to enter a "swap" arrangement which protects them from such a situation.

Under such agreements, two parties exchange cash flows with each other. The lending bank will swap the variable payments it may make to service a mortgage (which is fixed to the SONIA rate) for payments at a fixed rate. This insulates the lending bank from unexpected increases in the SONIA rate.

Once a deal is struck based on the swap rate, mortgage providers set their fixed deals for customers, with their own profit margin priced in.

How are swap rates decided?

Swap rates are based on what the markets think will happen to interest rates in the future.

When they go up, so do the rates being offered on the high street, as we have seen in the last week or two amid uncertainty over whether forecasts for a summer base rate cut are accurate.

Train drivers will stage a fresh wave of strikes and overtime bans in May, causing disruption to the rail network.

The strikes are part of a long-running dispute over pay.

Members of Aslef union at 16 rail companies will walk out on different days from 7 to 9 May. Additionally, all members will refuse to work any overtime from 6 May to 11 May.

Here is a full list of the services affected by strikes and when.

Rail strike dates

Tuesday 7 May

Strikes will affect c2c, Greater Anglia, GTR Great Northern Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern, Gatwick Express and South Western Railway.

Wednesday 8 May

Strikes will affect Avanti West Coast, Chiltern Railways, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway and West Midlands Trains.

Thursday 9 May

Strikes will affect LNER, Northern Trains and TransPennine Express.

Overtime ban dates

From Monday 6 May to Saturday 11 May union members will not work overtime.

Overtime bans, an action short of a strike, means some services may not be running or may be reduced as drivers refuse to work their rest days.

People are advised to check before they travel, as some areas may have no service.

How do strikes and overtime bans affect services?

Strikes tend to mean services on lines where members are participating are extremely affected or cancelled entirely, whereas overtime bans often lead to reduced services.

How can I stay in the loop?

You can use the National Rail's  journey planner  to see when trains are running.

Be sure to check it close to when you plan to travel, as it will be updated regularly.

Why are the strikes still happening?

Aslef rejected a two-year offer of 4% in 2022 and another 4% this year, saying this was way below inflation, and was linked to changes in terms and conditions.

Aslef says train drivers have not had an increase in salary for five years, since their last pay deals expired in 2019.
