What is Inner Line Permit (ILP)?
Process to obtain the inner line permit online:.
- Visit the official LAHDC website
- Fill in the necessary details: personal information, travel itinerary, and valid ID proof. (Aadhar Card, Driving License, Passport, or Voter ID number)
- Pay the required fee online.
- Download and print the approved ILP.
Process to Obtain Inner Line Permit Offline:
- Go to the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Leh.
- Fill out the application form with relevant details.
- Attach copies of valid ID proof. (Aadhar Card, Driving License, Passport, or Voter ID number)
- Pay the nominal fee.
- Collect the approved ILP.
What is Protected Area Permit/ Restricted Area Permit (PAP/ RAP)?
Process to obtain the protected area permit/ restricted area permit:.
- The permit is issued by the Leh DC office.
- Travelers need to apply through a registered travel agent.
- Fill out the application form, providing details of travel and valid ID proofs.
- The travel agent will submit the application and collect the PAP/RAP on your behalf.
Which Areas Need an Inner Line Permit and Protected Area Permit/ Restricted Area Permit?

- and a wildlife protection fee of ₹ 20 per day.
Tips For Permits in Leh
- One must carry original ID proofs mentioned while applying for ILP and multiple copies of the documents.
- One will get ILP for all the routes separately, with sticker and stamp.
- Once the ILP is approved, get them photocopied in 3-4 numbers of each and deposit at ATCP posts.
- One thing that has to be noted is that the Inner Line Permit is not required for visiting all the areas. It is only needed in some areas like Nubra valley, Khardung La, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, Dah, Hanu Villages, Man, Merak, Nyoma , Loma Bend, Turtuk , Tyakshi, Chushul, Hanle , Digger La, Tangyar (for trekking only).
- Also, if someone is going directly from Pangong to Tso Moriri, it needs to be mentioned to the officer stamping the permits. They will then endorse it as "Tso Moriri via Tsagala". This endorsement is imperative for the direct route and is not included in the list of ways mentioned online.

Visiting Ladakh requires a tourist permit by both international and domestic tourists. An Environment Fee and Red Cross Fund Fee are introduced as the Ladakh tourist permit/Inner Line Permits for domestic and international tourists by the government. All foreign nationals and NRIs having PIOs or OCIs need Protected Area Permit (PAP) or Restricted Area Permit (RAP) to visit Inner Line Regions of Ladakh including Pangong Tso, Nubra Valley, Khardung La, Tso Moriri, Turtuk, Dah Hanu Villages.
How to Apply for Protected Area Permit (PAP) by Foreign Tourists
In order to apply for the Protected Area Permit (PAP), foreigners must be in a group of two or more. The permit has to be applied at the DC Office, Leh with required fees. It can be applied through a registered travel agent in Leh or through the official website of Leh administration.

How to Get Ladakh Inner Line Permit Online in 2024 – 25
The procedure for applying for a Ladakh Inner Line Permit online was introduced in order to simplify the process for tourists and reduce the paperwork required. While you are still required to go to the DC office in Leh to get your permit stamped, it still is a great way to secure your permits beforehand. In this article, I will run you down the complete process to get a Ladakh permit online.
Back in 2014, the need to get a permit for visiting places like Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake was scrapped. This was done in order to promote tourism in the region, support the livelihood of the local people, and to also better connect Ladakh with the rest of the country.
But 3 years later, in 2017, ILP had to be reintroduced due to the increasing Chinese incursions in the area. By that time, tourism in Ladakh had increased several folds, and managing everyone in the DC office proved to be difficult. This is when the online portal was launched and people were able to get their Ladakh permits online.
As per the circular issued in 2017, a copy of which I will share further in the article, both Inner Line permit for Indian citizens and Protected area permit for foreign nationals can now be availed online.

Ladakh Permit Online Procedure
The biggest problem with the online procedure is that it is not a complete process. You can get a permit online, pay the related charges and print a copy out but you will still need to visit the DC office to get it stamped. Without the stamp, the permit will not be considered valid.
Update: 2021
Due to the ongoing COVID situation, the need to get the permit stamped at the DC office has been removed temporarily. This was done in order to avoid the gathering of tourists in the DC office and to maintain social distancing.
You now only need to pay the fee online and that is all that is needed. The permit will remain valid without any stamp or signature.
Please note that this update is only for the year 2022 and may get removed later. It may also get continued if the authorities deem it beneficial.

How to Get Ladakh Inner Line Permit Online
In order to apply for ILP online, you need to visit the Online Portal and then follow the steps mentioned below. It will ask you for identity proof so please keep your Aadhar card/ Voter ID / Driving License handy. There is no need to register yourself first on the portal. You can directly apply for the permit.

After the webpage loads, you will notice 5 options in a floating tab on the right-hand side of the page. Click on ‘Domestic’. This is the option for Indian citizens.
Registration
- It will take you to another page asking you to populate your details.
- Mention Name, Mobile Number, E-mail address, Gender, and the state you belong to.
- Click on the ID type drop-down and select the one that you have handy.
- Fill out your Aadhar card, DL, Passport, or voter ID number.
- Mention your complete address
- In the ‘Issue Permit’ field, select ‘Directly’
- Click in the “Date of Arrival” field and a calendar will fly out. Select your date of arrival in Leh town.
- Review your dates and the entire information once again.
- Click on Register.
Individual Vs Group
- A fly-out menu will ask you if you want to do an Individual registration or a group registration.
- If you are traveling alone, select Individual.
- In case you were traveling in a group and were applying permit for everyone, select group registration.
- If you select group registration, on the next page, you will have to enter details of everyone traveling with you and their ID numbers.
Route Selection
- On the next screen, you will be provided a list of places that you want to apply the permit for. You can select the places on basis of your itinerary.
- My recommendation will be that you select all of them. The charges for permits are based on the number of days and people, not the places. So to ensure that you do not miss out on a place because you did not where it was located, select all of the options you are presented with.
- In the reference field, verify your name and ID number once again.
- Please note down Reference ID. Copy-paste it somewhere because you will need it to print your permit later.
- Select your date of Arrival and Departure.
- Click on Next
- A self-declaration pop-up menu will appear with the terms and conditions of the permit. Read carefully, check the I accept box and click on Accept.
Ladakh Inner Line Permit Online Payment
- On the next page, you will be presented with complete details of your permit and the related cost. Review the details and click on Pay Now at the bottom of the page.
- It will take you to another page where you can make the online payment.
- After payment, you will be provided with a receipt that you can take a printout of.
- Using the Reference ID, you can take a printout of your permit. For this, go back to the homepage and click on the option that reads Print Permit.
If you selected the Group Registration link, you will need to fill out the details of the other travelers on the next page. The total charge that you will pay later will then be for the entire group.
Making an online payment is not mandatory. If you do not wish to pay on the portal, you can still take a print of the permit and make payment at the DC office in Leh.

Bhai as per my plan we are reaching Leh by Saturday evening, how can i avail the permit to visit Khardungala & Nubra Velly on Sunday. Greetings of the day. I had planned to visit Leh by Zoomcar in June 2019 via Manali. But now i came to know that Zoomcar is only allowed to reach Leh(Is my information correct??). To visit Tso Moriri and Pangong i need to hire a local taxi from there which are very costly and it will also take out the thrill of driving on the roads of that region.
Is it possible to take ILP from manali so that we can visit Tso Moriri and Pangong and than Leh and come back??

No it is not Gajender Bhai. You cannot take Zoomcar anywhere in Ladakh and don’t risk it as well. There have been incidents of vehicles getting attacked and vandalized because of this.

Yes Gajender Bhai. You will get the permit but drive very carefully across the water crossings otherwise the underbelly of your car may get damaged. Low GC of the car will be a problem.
We have successfully passed the registration process but at the end when it is asked to pay through debit card, we gave all the details but after putting the otp in the required box …problem is occuring the transaction is not taking place . when i am registering it again from the beginning then it is showing it is already registered . So how to do the payment ?? Pls help

I’m from Malaysia and I just submitted the application for the permit at http://lahdclehpermit.in/contactf.php
It did not ask me for my contact details. It only asks for my name, nationality, gender, passport no, visa no, visa type. address, agent and date of arrival.
I have no idea which agent to choose, so I just simply pick one.
After I submit, it says successfully received.
But I have no idea how are they going to contact me. They never asked for my contacts.
When I tried again, it says already submitted.
So what am I suppose to do now?

I applied the online permit and paid for 2 persons as well. I got a reference no. of my permit and when i tried to print the permit, there was no details in the form other than the group ID. Could you please confirm if we need to fill that by ourselves and get it stamped in TIC Leh? Will it work ?
Dear , you are using the wrong reference no. , your reference no. is Direct followed by your id no. for example if your addhar card id no is 71925954XXXX the your reference id id Direct71925954XXXX. This is also mention in your payment slip which you have recieved in your mail id (named as “PERMIT ID”)after online transaction .

Hi Farhana – Bangladeshi citizens are not being issued permits for Ladakh this year. You will have to try getting it from Delhi Home Ministry but most probably will be denied. My advice would be to plan for next year.

Hi Bhooma – Sorry I missed replying to your comment. Even if you were able to make payment online, It would be better if you visited the office and got your permit stamped. Better to spend an hour in Leh to get this done rather than getting sent back from the check post.

Would you know if there are any routes that are not covered in the online permit? Specifically Nubra to Pangong (directly) and Pangong to Tsomoriri (again direct?). Or the sectors listed in the online permit are all inclusive?

Hi Anu – There is no permit needed for Shyok route as such. Your regular ILP for Nubra and Pangong will suffice for this route.

Also I checked at your comments that one need to take rented bikes to travel pangong and other inner places. I am traveling by my father’s bike, do i also need to take rented bikes to visit other places then leh?

1. Batalik – It depends on how early you can get the permit but same day journey will be a bit tough and long. 2. Bike – Yes you can bring your father’s bike but just carry all the IDs to prove that owner of the bike is your father. No need to rent another bike in Leh then.

Hi Mitul – Just get the permits for Nubra valley and Pangong Tso and that will work for Shyok route as well. The permit for Nubra will covver Turtuk as well so you can cover that too if you had time.

Below is an update on permits this year.
1. Permits to Domestic travellers are now being given from Permit Office, TIC ( Tourist Information Center, near J&K Bank, Main Bazaar). Foreigners still need to go to DC office near Polo Ground. 2. You have to fill the form online only, if you are applying in self. I am not sure about the process if you want to apply through an agent. 3. Take printout of the online permit and carry copies along with you. One each for Nubra, Pangong, Tso morriri and Hanle. 4. And yes permits are being given for Chushul, Tsagala, Loma,Hanle. They will sign and stamp your printouts and will take the required payments as mentioned in the portal. 5. For Hanle, You will have to further go to DC office. Take a copy of the permit that you received from TIC and DC office will keep a copy and will further stamp your permit ” permission to visit Hanle”. That would make your permit process complete. 6. Keep at least 3 copies of Hanle permit along with you while traveling.

You will have to get it in person after you reach Leh, no other way.
Or u can get it by any other person name from ur group and u can add ur name on it like a group member i did this n its work

Then let it be. You would anyways have to go to the DC office in Leh to make the payment and get your permit stamped. Get it there only. The online portal is only for filling the form and taking a print out.

Hello Mr. Pradeep, No one person can get the permit on everyone’s behalf. No need for everyone to go. Names would have to be mentioned on the same permit anyways.
We have planned to our Leh trip from 16 Aug to 22 Aug 18. Our route will starting from Manali.
My confusion is, how will we get inner line permit from Samurai. As our route first place will Samurai. And than Nubra Vally-leh-Pancong lake.
As per online permit process, we have to pay fee offline at Leh.
Is there any other option to payment of permit fee or print out of online permit is valid upto Leh.

There is no way to get the permits without reaching Leh. You will have to first get there to make the payment and get your permits signed / stamped.

Tenzin – I am not sure what your question is. For Ladakh ILP, yes you will have to mention the dates that you need the permit for.
Vergis can u tell me if we reach manali on Tuesday can we get the permit for Wednesday as u said that on every Tuesday rohtang is closed so they work on office or they were also shut on Tuesdays.
Rohtang Pass is closed on Tuesday but the DM office is open so yes, you can get the permits.

Thank you Dr. Prabhu. I am afraid you will not get the permit on Sunday. You may get it on Saturday provided that you reach the office early and it is not a holiday.
We are planning our journey from Delhi on 24th May and our route is Delhi-Patnitop-Jammu-Leh(Visit places near Leh)-Manali-Delhi.
We hire Bikes from Delhi, so will there be any problem in Leh for getting ILP for rented bikes? And also mention what kind of problem we may face during ILP and give the solution too.
Bikes rented outside Ladakh are not allowed there. So you can only use your Delhi rented bikes to reach Leh. Once you get there, you will have to leave the Delhi registered bikes parked at the hotel and rent another set of bikes from Leh city itself; for visiting places like Nubra Valley, Pangong etc. There is no solution to this really.

You cannot do it, it won’t let you. You will have to go and get the permits in person from DM office Leh now.

After reading this I really really got confused. Somewhere I read, most probably in your blog only, that Indian Nationals don’t need permit anymore. So I made a plan like this – Manali – Keylong – Pang – Tso Moriri – Pangong Tso – Nubra Valley – Leh – Kargil – Padum – Kargil – Srinagar.
Seems like I first have to reach Leh, get the permit and then roam around. I have taken the online form printed. Is there any way to get permit with out getting into Leh. I’m really confused.

Hi Dev – Inner Line Permit was a mandate earlier. It was removed in 2014 and then brought back in 2017. So you may have read it on a post I made in these three years. As of now the permit is a mandate.
So there is noway to get the permit in Manali to Tso Moriri route??? I have to go to Leh???
Unfortunately no, unless you can find someone in Leh who can get the permits on your behalf and then courier those to you.
And before you ask, I do not have a contact in Leh who could do that 🙂

Dear Sir, I have made mistakes in dates while filling my inner line permit, can the same be discarded and reapplied online ….as we are a group of 19 people there is no issue as to registration restriction as on site.
I do not think it will let you try to register again but you can try. If it does not work, only other option then would be to obtain the permits in person from DM office Leh

Hi Nikhil – If you are borrowing a friends bike, then you can use it only to reach Leh. From there, you will have to rent another local bike for visiting places like Nubra and Pangong.

Aapko anyways vahan DC office ki taraf toh jaana padega hi payment karne aur stamp karvane ke liye toh vahin jaake on the spot hi form bhi bhar lena. Isko abhi bharoge toh print out nikalna padega aur phir Leh jaane tak vo print out sambhal kar saath leke ghoomna padega.

Thank you for your kind words. You can travel like this but it also depends on whether or not the Manali route is open by your date of travel.
12 – Leh. Rest and arrange permits. 13 – Leh to Turtuk (Nubra valley) 14 – Turtuk to Panamik 15 – Panamik to Pangong via Shyok road 16 – Pangong to Pang 17 – Pang to Jispa 18 – Jispa to Manali 19 – Manali to Delhi 20 – Buffer. Keep this day in buffer because there are permit issues for Shyok route right now. In case you do not get this permit, You will have to come back to Leh from Nubra valley and go to Pangong the next day.
And yes, you can do the trip in SX4 but be careful around water crossing and slushy areas.

If that is the case, wouldn’t it be better to return to Leh and take the alternative route? 2. Pangong to Pang- do I take the route via Karu or via Chushul/ Mahe/Sumdo/ Thukje? 3. If we don’t go to Tso Moriri, are we missing something great? Or is it the same as Pangong? 4. Is it a good idea to stay at Hermis (either near the Gompa or in the adjoining National Park)- Are there any places to stay inside the park? 5. Permits for Shyok road are being issued and it will most probably remain open. Chushul route however is definitely off limits right now. Situation may change by June though as the tourist season gets to its peak.

No, for Inner Line permit you will have to go to Leh first. You cannot get these in Manali.

Yes, you will mention the name of the all the travelers on same application form and get it done in one go while you are in Leh. Online you will have to submit separately but in person it is just one application.

Chushul route will remain open. The only change will be that if Hanle is not allowed than you will go straight from Pangong to Karzok via Chshul. The stay at Hanle will then have to be taken off the itinerary. That is the only change.

You are welcome Bhai. 25th May is good since you are traveling from Srinagar side. Chances of snow will be less though as it anyways did not snow much this year. You may find some at top of the passes though.

(stay at nubra). 1st june’18: Nubra to Pangong Tso.(kindly suggest direct route). (stay at Pangong Tso). 2nd: Pangong to Karu/Leh. Rest 3rd: Leh/Karu to Keylong/jispa. stay. 4th: Reach Manali. Stay. 5th: Reach Chandigarh & get Bike Parceled to Surat.
Above is my tentative itenary. My only concer is whether road from Kaza to Keylong will be operational by that time. bcoz it has snowed less this year so chances r there that it will open by end of may. we have not booked any stay. kindly suggest if we need to book. also we r carrying our own Tent also along with other required accessories as we are going completely unplanned. so it will not be an issue if we have to add some days in between or end. kindly revert with any your valuable experienced suggestions.
Hi Ujjval Bhai, In all probability the route should be open because there is very little snow this year. The actual opening date however will only be clear by May only. For your itinerary,
24th – Good 25th – Cannot do it. You will have to spend the night at Chitkul only. Even for Chitkul, ensure that you take an early morning start from Narkanda or it may get dark by the time you reach there. 26 – Do not stay at Tabo. Stay at Nako, much more scenic than Tabo. 27 – Do not go towards Kibber Kaumik the same day. you will not be able to cover. Stay at Kaza the day you reach there and plan a ride to these villages the next day. Will eat up your entire day if you cover all of them. 28 – Even Keylong will be a very long ride. The Batal Gramphoo stretch is a nightmare and that small distance will easily eat up your 4-5 hours. Do not attempt Sarchu. 29 – Keylong to Leh you can complete in a day but ensure you start by first light of the day, possibly between 5-6 AM. 30 – OK 31 – Stay at Diskit 1 – Take the Agham Shyok road to reach Pangong. No need to book anywhere, you will get plenty of choices to chose from and can negotiate a deal on the spot. You must however add more days to your trip. Let me know if you can and I will recommend an itinerary accordingly.

A few changes will be required in your itinerary.
1. You will land on 18th, will need to find hotel, arrange permits and on top of it, you will also be suffering from AMS in all proability. It will be a bit tough to rent a bike on this day and go towards magnetic hill. My suggestion would be that you just arrange your permits and bikes and rest at the hotel, allowing your body time to acclimatize to high altitude.
2. Leh to Nubra Valley to Leh will be a very long journey so ensure that you start from Leh by first light of the day.
3. Srinagar bus starts early in the morning from Leh so you will not be able to board it on 21st, the same day that you are returnign from Pangong. It would have to be done on 22nd and then you will arrive at Sriangar on 23rd

The only problem with the itinerary is,
1. There is no public transport available on Agham Shyok road. You will have to ask around at Nubra Valley and see if you can find a mode of transport. Most probably it will be hitch hiking with someone going that way. If you are not able to find anything, you will have to come back to Leh and go to Pangong the next day.
2. Same thing for Batalik route. There is public transport available here but the frequency is too less.
You will need permits for Nubra, Pangong and Batalik.

Can you provide info on how much it costs if we take private taxi from Leh keeping our itinerary in mind? Also, only three places, as u said, I have to mention in form for ILP? Do not apply for the permit online Bhai. It is merely a form to fill as you will anyways have to go to DC office for payment and stamping etc. Get it all done only after you reach Leh. On the form you will there, mention the Diskit, Hunder, Pangong and Batalik.
Private taxi costs are quite high in Ladakh. A 2 day journey to Nubra valley easily costs about Rs. 12000 and same applies for Pangong as well. Call Sonam Angdus in Leh at 9469272773. He is a driver and has his own taxi, a known of mine. Let him know you got his number from me and he can give you the exact cost with a discount applied. If it suits you, hire him. He is a good driver and a humble fellow.
No need to book hotels in advance. Just reach there, find a hotel per your liking and negotiate a on the spot deal.

I just have 4 days so I am taking a flight to Leh and then exploring the surroundings. I don’t want to miss Khardung La and Pangong lake. Yes you will need ILP even if renting a bike in Leh itself. The permit is on per person basis and not vehicle. Even if you took a bus, you will still need to get the permit.

There are no bike rentals available in Feb. It is not even safe or suggested to be riding around a motorcycle there with so much snow and freezing temperatures. You will have to rent a private cab.

Hello Atul – Correct. It needs to be applied seperately for different people, no way to add names. Every person my enter their own ID number. Actually, the online portal right now is just filling out forms, nothing else. You will anyways have to visit the office in Leh to make payment and get it signed / stamped. Anil…3-4 days in Ladakh is too scant. I don’t think you can go anywhere else except Pangong and a local sightseeing of Leh. You can do a day trip to Nubra but be sure to leave Leh by max 5.30 AM in the morning.
Anil – What Akashdeep said stands true. You can apply for the permits on the day you land in Leh, and then do a day trip to both Nubra and Pangong. Going all that way just for 3 days doesn’t make sense really. Either add more days or plan your trip for a later time.

Hi, I am just back from Ladakh trip and I think now I am in better place to answer regarding the permit issues. The online thing doesn’t help much as it only the form filling thing that you can do online. The queue is for verification and it still remain the same either you do online or offline.My only suggestion is to try to get the permit early in the morning when the queue is less. Also, the permit is now given next to the tourist info centre in the main bazaar.

Chushul permits are not on the online portal. For that you will have to visit the DM office in person in Leh.

I have a confusion on dates. For the first step, there’s a date of entering and you say there’s details of dates to be given in the second step as well. So, for example, if I enter Leh on 1st July but venture out for permit oriented areas on 3rd July and plan to come back to Leh on 9th July then what should I put on the first and second pages. Also, is there a time span restriction (like 1 week max) for permit duration in the website.
Hello Akashdeep, Enter dates when you plan to go towards restricted areas. There is no ILP required for Leh so you can skip those days. Permits are valid for 3 weeks from the issue date.
I got shocked that probably I closed the Tab for payment until this article reconfirmed that there was no option for payment yet!!
No there is no option to pay online yet. That would have to be done after you reach Leh.

Thanks for this blog. I tried to get the permit with my Aadhar card number and had same issues that you have mentioned. I have to get it through my passport or DL again :D.. We will be entering Leh via Srinagar highway and were planning to directly visit Zanskar valley enroute Kargil and then Leh. Do we need the permit to visit either Zanskar or Kargil? Please shed some light on it!

Hi Gaurav – If you are traveling via Manali, then the first permit you need is to cross over Rohtang. After reaching Leh, you will then need to obtain Inner line permit to visit Nubra Valley and Pangong.

Hi Neha – Yes, every individual have to submit it with their IDs because even at the time of getting the permits in Leh, everyone was required to submit a copy of their ID proofs.

Do we require special permits? Would you be taking care of the permits?
Indian nationals require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) o visit some of the protected areas in Ladakh. It is only required for some areas like Nubra Valley, Khardung La, Pangong Tso, Tso Moriri, Dah, Hanu Villages, Man, Merak, Nyoma, Loma Bend, Turtuk, Tyakshi, Chusul, Hanle, Digger La, Tangyar (for trekking only). Tourists from China, Pakistan, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong require a special permit from the Home Ministry to visit the region. All foreign nationals require a special permit when going through the Tso Moriri to Pangong Tso lake via Tsagala.
There is also a special permit needed for tourists who are travelling to Ladakh on an official or work visa. Go2Ladakh will obtain the ILP for you. All we would require is your documents and we can take things from there. For everything else, please carry a valid, government-issued photo ID proof and address proof, and photocopies of these documents. BASIS FACTS ABOUT LADAKH Ladakh is a frontier region and has a strategic significance to India. Although you do not need any special permit to enter ladakh but some areas of ladakh is still not open for tourist and sometimes even the locals are prohibited to enter these areas mainly the border areas. Restricted areas: The area around the north of the main highway passing through zojila, drass, kargil and khaltse is strictly restricted. From khaltse through leh to upshi, the restriction is relaxed, to allow approach to the monasteries and villages on the northern highway such as tia-timosgang, rizong, likir and phyang. The leh-manali road is also open, up to one mile east of its general alignment. Restricted area and inner line permit: some areas primarily opened for tourism since 1994 by the government. But to visit these areas you have to acquire the inner line permit. These permits are easy to obtain, often takes not more than half-a-day to arrange one. This can be obtained from the deputy commissioner’s office, leh only through registered travel agents, at a nominal fee. There are some condition to this permits. Individual tourist are not granted the permit , you need to be at least in a group of two or more. Each permit allows you for not more than 7 days in any particular restricted area. You need a copy of your passport or copy of your ID card such as adhaar or voter card. the places that needs inner line permit are-nubra valley fom khardongla pass, changthang for the pangong,tsomoriri and tsokar lakes in nyoma area, sham valley from khaltser bridge along the Indus up to dha hanu. Permission to enter other restricted area can be obtained from ministry of home affairs, government of india, lok nayak bhawan, khan market, new delhi. Control check points: All foreign tourist are required to register while entering ladakh. While coming by road at various control checkpoint you will be asked for your passport. These control checkpoints are mainly at minamarg, drass, kargil, khalste, rumtse, serchu, mahey bridge etc. at these control checkpoints you have to provide your passport and visa validity and domestic tourist have to provide their ID card only. While travelling by air you have to provide this documents at the arrival lounge of airport. Within ladakh particularly on the routes that need special permit you have to furnish a copy of your inner line permits at the control checkpoints. It is wise to carry sufficient photocopies of the innerline permits while travelling in these restricted areas.
