Neither Donald Trump's recent business woes nor his legendary hairpiece are safe in this new promo for the 27th season of "The Simpsons" that lampoons the Republican presidential contender.

Called "Trumptastic Voyage," the teaser finds Homer Simpson paid $50 to cheer at the launch of Trump's campaign , only to be drawn into the magical mysteries of the candidate's hair. "If I touch it, will it heal my baldness?" Homer wonders.

And so begins the voyage across Trump's scalp, sprinkled with references to his recent troubles involving the Miss Universe pageant, NBC and Macy's, among other things.

"The Simpsons," which earlier this week resolved a contract dispute with voice actor Harry Shearer, will hold at panel Saturday at Comic-Con International. The 27th season premieres Sept. 27.

Donald Trump

Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American politician who was the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021. Before he was in office, he was known as an American business man, investor, television personality, and author. A brief audio snippet of his voice, from his 2015 Presidential campaign announcement, was used in the episode special Trumptastic Voyage .

Donald Trump, le milliardaire aux propos misogynes et racistes, à la moumoute et à l'autobronzant orange, vient d'être élu président des Etats-Unis. Le monde est sous le choc. Pourtant, Les Simpson l'avaient prédit... il y a 16 ans.

C’était une possibilité, mais personne ne l’avait vraiment vu venir… Ou plutôt, personne ne voulait vraiment y croire. Donald Trump, le milliardaire aux propos misogynes et racistes, à la moumoute blonde et à l'autobronzant orange, qui s'est lancé en politique il y a quelques mois seulement, vient d'être élu président des Etats-Unis, battant son adversaire démocrate pourtant plus expérimentée, Hillary Clinton, donnée gagnante par les sondages. 

Un scénario catastrophe pas si surprise que ça. En effet, il y a 16 ans déjà, Les Simpson avaient prédit la présidence de Donald Trump. C’était en mars 2000. Dans "Bart to the Future" ("Les Simpson dans 30 ans" en VF), l’épisode 17 de la saison 11, on découvrait le futur de Bart et de la famille Simpson 30 ans après. Lisa était élue première « femme hétérosexuelle » présidente des Etats-Unis, et héritait du bilan du « président Trump » . Un bilan vraiment pas jojo.

« C’était une mise en garde à l’Amérique , déclarait en mars dernier Dan Greaney , scénariste de l’épisode "Bart to the Future", au Hollywood Reporter . Ca semblait être, de façon assez logique, la dernière étape avant de toucher vraiment le fond. Ca a été évoqué parce que ça collait assez bien avec l’idée d’une Amérique ayant complètement perdu les pédales. »

Il précise que « Lisa est élue présidente alors que l’Amérique est au bout du bout. On avait besoin qu’elle se retrouve dans une situation ingérable, c’est pourquoi nous avons envisagé qu’elle arrive après un mandat de Trump. »

Dans l'extrait ci-dessus, Lisa déplore le bilan économique catastrophique de son prédécesseur : « Comme vous le savez, nous avons hérité de l’importante crise budgétaire laissée par le président Trump. » Ses conseillers l’informent alors que le pays est complètement ruiné. La cause mentionnée par le « secrétaire [Milhouse] Van Houten » ? Le pari d’investir pour « les enfants de notre nation » , une très mauvaise idée après coup...

Dans un court-métrage promotionnel beaucoup plus récent pour la saison 25, intitulé "Trumptastic Voyage", Homer atterrit dans la moumoute de Trump et se voit offrir un petit aperçu du matériau superficiel (et très épars) qui s'agite dans sa tête : Rendez-vous dans 4 ans, pour un premier bilan…

It’s been a rough few weeks for Donald Trump after the presidential hopeful made disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants: First, Univision, NBC, Macy’s and ESPN all cut ties  with the real estate mogul, and now even The Simpsons  is razzing Trump. In “Trumptastic Voyage,” a nod to the human body-exploring sci-fi classic Fantastic Voyage , Homer is shrunk down to follicle size and forced to brave the wilderness that is Trump’s “hair.”

At the beginning of the short, Homer is tricked into supporting Trump’s presidency for $50. But after accidentally getting too close to the ex- Apprentice host, Homer is somehow sucked into the mogul’s iconic hairdo. Once inside Trump’s hair, Homer discovers a netherworld inhabited by the simians from both Planet of the Apes and 2001: A Space Odyssey , as well as missing aviatrix Amelia Earhart and the Big Mac-stealing Hamburglar.

Trump’s hair also pokes fun at the Donald’s recently severed business relationships: A Macy’s gift card that reads “Get Lost!,” a cancelled NBC parking pass and a torn Miss Universe pageant sash drifting in the wind.

After Simpson escapes Trump’s “ginger forest,” he somehow finds himself onstage while Trump announces that, yet again, he’s running for President, this time with the motto “America, You Can Be My Ex-Wife!” The 90-second “Trumptastic Voyage” ends with Homer clinging to a lone strand of the mogul’s hair, only to watch it pull away and float back toward the monolithic Trump Tower that hovers above Springfield.

In other Simpsons news, fans of the long-running animated series can breathe a sigh of relief after voice actor Harry Shearer announced that he and the show’s producers have worked out a new contract  that will keep him voicing Montgomery Burns, Ned Flanders and other Simpsons  favorites for at least the next two seasons.

The Simpsons does it again, predicting Trump presidency 16 years ago

The Simpsons has done it again. The show correctly predicted that Donald Trump would become the President of the United States, way back in 2000.

The prediction was outlined in the 17th episode of the 11th season, titled 'Bart To The Future' 16 years ago and broadcast in early 2000.

The episode portrays a grown-up Lisa as Trump's successor, who quips: "We've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump". Sitting in the Oval office surrounded by her advisors she asks: "How bad is it Secretary van Houten?"

The iconic show, which recently aired its 600th episode, also broadcast another episode in 2015 titled 'Trumptastic Voyage', referencing Trump's real-life decision to run for the presidency. The clip featured Trump coming down an escalator with Homer Simpson, mocking Trump's announcement for candidacy with his wife Melania.

Simpsons creator Matt Groening had told British daily The Guardian earlier in the year that they had chosen Trump because he was "the most absurd placeholder joke name that [they] could think of". "It's beyond satire," he had said.

Also, writer Dan Greaney had said the episode back in 2000 had 'a dark message behind it' and was 'a warning to America" in an interview in March with The Hollywood Reporter.

"That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."

This was not the Simpsons' first correct prediction about future events though.

In season 6, episode 19, named 'Lisa's Wedding' in 1995 the show had forecast that future phones would have video capabilities. In the episode, Lisa and Marge chatted on phones with video screens.
