Liberty Island is home to a beautiful park, an innovative museum, and America’s most iconic symbol of promise and possibility. As you explore the grounds, take in Lady Liberty from different angles noting her design details and how her appearance changes with the light.

The Statue of Liberty Museum is an experience unto itself. Full of incredible exhibits, the Museum gives color and context to the Statue and houses her original torch. Before you depart Liberty Island, be sure to visit the Liberty Vista atop the Museum for breathtaking views of the Statue and New York Harbor.

No additional ticket is needed to visit the museum.

Statue City Cruises Questions & Answers

statue city cruises duration

Hi there, a few quick questions: is it the departure place at battery park? How long would it last for the entire tour(the second we hop on the boat till we get back to the park?) thanks a lot

If you enjoy museums, then I would plan most of the day. There is a wonderful exhibit inside the Statue of Liberty and then a more extensive exhibit and tour on Ellis Island. I wouldn't miss either. I believe our tickets were at 11 am and we took the ferry back from Ellis Island around 4 pm. The audio tours are complimentary with the tickets and are well done.

You can board at Battery Park or New Jersey. We were staying in Manhattan so Battery Park was closest for us.

You can make the day as long as you like really. I would say the minimum for visiting Liberty Island, Lady Liberty (pedestal access), the statue museum, and the trip back takes 2-3 hours. The ferry itself doesn't take long at all.

If you wish to alight at Ellis Island and visit the museum there, you can add another few hours to your trip.

I would recommend at least half a day for your trip. Hope that helps.

Can we board at battery park ny and disembark on NJ ferry as our hotel is in Hoboken

Yes, there is a departure from Battery Park.

Your tour can be as long or short as you want it to be. You can take as long as you like at Liberty Island and Ellis Island until the last boat leaves those islands to go back to Battery Park. The last ferry leaves the islands about 6:30 pm. Probably plan at least half a day. The ferry takes you to Liberty Island, where you can stay as long as you like until the last ferry leaves to go back to Battery Park. Or after you're done at Liberty Island you can take a ferry from Liberty Island to Ellis Island and sight-see there. There are ferries coming and going on a regular schedule all day. We made reservations about 2 weeks before our trip for our ferry and the earliest time we could get was 1 pm. We went to Liberty Island for a few hours and tried to pace ourselves and then went to Ellis Island, leaving there on the last boat back to Battery Park. I would have liked to have been able to go earlier in the day so we had more time to spend at each island. I would advise going as early in the day as possible to give yourself as much time as you would like to sight-see. With the regular ferries coming and going, you can leave when you've seen all that you want to.

Hi! Yes, my family departed from Battery Park. We were to arrive at the park at 11 AM. Purchase your tickets early so you have choices of pedestal or if you want to go to the torch of the Statue of Liberty. Also, it really depends on how much exploring you want to do. We did both Islands and we were there for approximately 5 hours. We did this at Christmas time (very busy) and we ate and explored quite a bit. Ellis Island will probably take longer than Liberty Island as there is more to read, explore, etc. I would say if you love history, at least 4 hours. But if not, you can do it in less time. The ferry ride is fast, maybe 15 minutes each way. But loading and unloading adds to the time. However, it is very organized and efficient. Enjoy!

statue city cruises duration

If you want to go to the top of Lady Liberty, the tickets must be pre-purchased (don't know exactly where) but as we found, they aren't available on the Island at all and you usually have to pre-book some weeks in advance, same with the Needle in Washington and other attractions in the US.

If you stop at Ellis Island and visit the museum there, you can add another few hours to your trip but I found it a little mundane as it was all about immigration and entry to America so didn't really interest me much.

I would recommend at least half a day for your trip and don't take much more than a bumbag as backpacks are prohibited in most venues for obvious reasons.

Take some food and drinks though, long queues and prices are for a captive audience.

Hope this helps
