All-inclusive Resorts

Treat yourself to an all-inclusive vacation.

When you purchase an all-inclusive package, most of what you need is included in the list price. This includes your lodging, meals, and beverages. It often includes recreation equipment, services, and tips, too. You can treat yourself all day long without spending more than you budgeted for.

You can find a wide variety of all-inclusive properties. Some resorts offer all-inclusive packages only. These resorts are often in tropical areas with blue skies and sandy beaches. Some hotels offer all-inclusive plans as add-ons to their standard lodging options.

Some all-inclusive properties are for adults only, while others welcome children. Family-friendly all-inclusive properties often offer childcare and kids clubs, so parents can have time to themselves.

When you book your all-inclusive vacation, make sure you ask what is included in the purchase price. That way, you're ready to take advantage of all the treats on offer when you get there.

Frequently asked questions, what is an all-inclusive hotel.

At all-inclusive hotels and resorts, guests pay a flat rate upfront for their stay that typically includes the room along with unlimited meals, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, a range of recreational activities and onsite entertainment. After booking, guests are free to use most facilities without paying each time.

All-inclusive resorts are generally large properties that provide a wider variety of options from room types, to food, to facilities allowing guests to enjoy different things at no extra cost, all available conveniently within the resort. These properties often have several restaurants providing different cuisines, a selection of bars and cafes, multiple swimming pools, and a range of fun activities for different age groups.

*These are only guidelines as policies and amenities may vary across hotels. For more information, view details listed on each property page.

What do you get at an All-Inclusive resort?

Usually, the upfront rate includes the room, unlimited food and drinks, a selection of onsite activities and daily entertainment. There's often plenty of options to choose from within each all-inclusive resort at no extra charge.

Note however, there may be some premium items available at your resort which are not included. These cost extra.

Often included: Food, soft drinks and house pour alcoholic drinks. Free-to-use fitness facilities, pools, pool loungers, beach chairs. Kids activities, all land activities, non-motorized equipment like snorkels and volleyballs, some recreation classes. Daily entertainment, live performances, onsite nightclubs.

Often excluded (available at surcharge): Gourmet meals, top-shelf alcohol, special requests, room service. Spa treatments, golf, motorized water sports, tennis lessons, golf lessons, scuba excursions, offsite tours.

Do All-Inclusive hotels include breakfast, lunch and dinner?

Yes, the all-in-one price usually includes all meals throughout the day.

Most all-inclusive hotels serve buffet-style meals at various restaurants throughout the property, and you can drop in anytime to have a meal during operational hours from morning to night. This means you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner without having to pay anything extra.

Some hotels also offer a la carte options, and/or room service.

Is food free at All-Inclusive resorts?

Booking an all-inclusive resort typically includes all (or most) food and beverages in the room rate. This means you can eat as often as you like without having to pay each time.

This excludes premium dining options, such as top-shelf alcohol or gourmet meals. They cost extra. Room service and a la carte options may also be chargeable, depending on the hotel.

Is alcohol included in All-Inclusive hotels?

All-Inclusive hotels offer different packages, some with alcohol and some without. Most of the time, alcohol is included.

Resorts will offer a selection of alcoholic beverages as part of the all-inclusive deal. Anything outside of these house pour drinks is considered a premium beverage and available at a surcharge. Premium beverages usually refer to top-shelf liquor brands, bottled wine and imported beers.

What is top-shelf alcohol?

Top-shelf alcohol is the highest quality of alcohol available in an establishment. The term refers literally to the top shelf in bars where the more expensive labels are kept, further out of reach. What's considered top-shelf or premium brands is up to the establishment they aren't the same everywhere.

At an all-inclusive resort, the rules are a little different. Guests usually get to enjoy unlimited drinks from the selection of house drinks they are serving, from beer to cocktails. Anything outside of this selection costs extra. So almost any well-known brand you request will be considered top-shelf.

Do I need cash at my All-Inclusive resort?

You won't need much cash. The upfront booking covers most things you need, from food to activities. However, you may need some small change for tips. It's also a good idea to bring some cash or credit for any additional premium activities you're interested in, as these are available at a surcharge.

Are tips included in an All-inclusive hotels?

This depends on the property. Some all-inclusive resorts have already included gratuities and taxes in the room rates, and some do not. It's best to check the details for your hotel of choice as hotels have different policies on tipping.

Additional tips at the guests' discretion are often accepted. However, some resorts have a strict no-tipping policy. They will usually have signs on the property alerting you to this.

What is an adults-only resort?

Adults-only resorts do not allow guests under a certain age. This could be for the entire property, or some hotels simply have an adults-only wing. The minimum age varies -- usually 16, 18 or 21.

It basically means there are no children around and everything caters to grownups enjoying an age-appropriate atmosphere conducive for peace, romance or partying. These types of resorts are popular with couples enjoying a romantic getaway, singles and groups of friends on a fun trip, bachelor and bachelorette parties.

What is an all-inclusive meal plan?

Most all-inclusive resorts provide all-inclusive meal plans. There are however some resorts that offer lower tier rooms with limited meal plans.

This is a general guide to what's included in each:

  • All-Inclusive Plans: Includes all meals and unlimited drinks, including alcoholic beverages. Often served buffet-style, flexible meal times, and a range of cuisine to choose from.
  • American Plan (AP): Includes 3 daily meals at set times -- breakfast, lunch and dinner. This may or may not include beverages. Also known as full board or full pension.
  • Modified American Plan (MAP): Includes 2 fixed meals a day included in the price. Usually breakfast and dinner. Also known as half board or half pension.
  • Continental Plan (CP): Includes continental breakfast. A continental breakfast includes fruits, bakery items, bread, coffee, tea and juice. Does not include cooked food.
  • European Plan (EP): Room only. No food and drinks included.

Sometimes you want a vacation where you explore hidden gems, visit cultural sites, or head to every museum in town. Other times, you want to enjoy some fun in the sun. Those looking for the latter should head to Punta Cana, a resort town in the Dominican Republic known for its fine white sands, clear ocean waters, and numerous all-inclusive resorts .

The Dominican resort town is on the island’s east coast, featuring nearly 20 miles of sandy beaches. The area is ideal for relaxing on the beach, all-inclusive cocktail in hand, and water activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, boating, jet skiing, and windsurfing.

Although the beach town was once known as Punta de Borrachón (Drunkard’s Point), these days, Punta Cana isn’t a party town, although it can be if that’s what you’re in the market for. Nowadays, Punta Cana is all about all-inclusive luxury resort experiences, from wellness to family-friendly to adults-only resorts .

Here are some of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for your next beach vacation, whether you’re a college student traveling with friends, on your honeymoon, or are parents looking to take the whole family along.

The 6 Best All-inclusive Resorts in Punta Cana for Adults-only

If you’re in the market for a child-free vacation, honeymoon, or a quiet break, these are the best adults-only all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana .

Sanctuary Cap Cana Castle Island Suite

Rebranded and reopened in 2022, the Sanctuary Cap Cana is Marriott’s first luxury all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic. However, the brand has more than 30 all-inclusive properties within Latin America and the Caribbean.

If you’re after luxury, this is the Punta Cana all-inclusive resort for you. Beyond its 300+ suites and villas, the hotel, decked out in Spanish Colonial style, features a Castle accommodation section, including the opulent Castle Island Suite. This suite is on its own private island, complete with not 1 but 3 indoor plunge pools, butler service, 2 bedrooms, and 2.5 bathrooms.

Those happy with a regular suite won’t leave disappointed. Many of the suites feature outdoor space, jetted tubs, and ocean views, or are swim-up . And with 11 different restaurants and bars, various pools, and a stunning beach area along the serene Cap Cana coast, adults looking for a peaceful getaway will find it here.

Suite rates start at around $470 or 100,000+  Marriott Bonvoy points  per night.

Still figuring out how to get to Punta Cana? Use your points and miles to fly to the Caribbean . United, Delta, and American Airlines operate flights between several U.S. hubs and the Dominican beach town.

Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana

Another hotel located along the tranquil Cap Cana coast, the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is one of the newest and most contemporary Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts to visit for a luxurious, modern stay.

The hotel has so much to do that you don’t need to leave the resort. From 25 bars and restaurants to the beachfront infinity pool and the swim-up suites , you might want to stay forever — though the property is aptly located near golf courses, a marina, and eco-parks should you get the urge to leave.

It may be the ideal place to stay fit while on vacation, as the property is home to a 4,000-square-foot fitness center with numerous machines and weights, spinning bikes, and space for onsite activities like yoga, TRX, Zumba, and more.

Guests often choose this hotel because it’s adults-only. However, if you feel like getting in touch with your inner child (or being around many of them), guests can access the Canapolis Water Park , part of the neighboring family-friendly property Hyatt Ziva.

Room rates start at $485 or 35,000  World of Hyatt points  per night.

Have a stash of points and miles? Here are the best Punta Cana hotels to book with points (for max value).

Breathless Punta Cana tropical cocktails at the pool

Breathless Punta Cana & Spa is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort under the Hyatt umbrella. Here, guests have equal opportunity to indulge in all things adult : rejuvenating morning yoga classes, tropical treatments at the Pevonia Spa, and boozy pool parties with DJs spinning beats.

The ideal resort for adults wanting a well-rounded stay that includes relaxation and energetic activity, guests have full access to the amenities at the Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa next door, a family-friendly resort with an onsite water park.

Guest rooms feature bold, Caribbean-inspired colors and decor with lush garden views. It’s worth upgrading to a swim-up suite, an Xhale Club room or suite, or the ultimate luxury, the Xhale Club Presidential Suites, with ocean views. All Xhale rooms and suites have access to 2 private Xhale Club pools, Xhale Club Lounge access, and butler service.

Room rates start at $305 or 17,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

Many of the hotels on this list are part of the Hyatt portfolio. You can earn Hyatt points with The World of Hyatt Credit Card , but one of the best ways to earn points that can transfer to the Hyatt program is with a credit card such as the Chase Sapphire Reserve ® or Chase Sapphire Preferred ® Card . Even if your chosen all-inclusive resort isn’t part of a points program, you can still earn 3x Chase Ultimate Rewards points for travel purchases when booking with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Melia Punta Cana Beach pool and beach aerial

Adult travelers who want to focus on wellness should head to the Meliá Punta Cana Beach , a hotel with various wellness zones to encourage guests to relax, live in the moment, and get into vacation mode.

Guest rooms and suites are “ wellness-inclusive ,” meaning the coastal chic decor, inviting and comfortable beds, pool, garden, and beach views were explicitly created to help guests unwind and enjoy. And from daily yoga and shamanic drumming to complimentary bicycle use and paint-and-sip wine events, there are plenty of chill activities that all types of travelers can enjoy.

The hotel features the YHI Spa , a calming retreat that uses elements like water and nature to create an enticing space for guests to take a break and disconnect. Treatments include healing larimar hot stone therapy and coffee and sugar body scrubs. From lounging at the weaving, lagoon-style pool to testing out the healthy, fresh cuisine options, you’ll leave this resort feeling truly rejuvenated.

Room rates start around $200 per night.

Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana aerial view

From 400-thread count sheets to in-room Nespresso machines, Live Aqua Beach Punta Cana offers guests the utmost comfort. Guest rooms are comfortable and contemporary, and some suites have swim-up access . Honeymooners might opt for the honeymoon suite, which offers swim-up access and perks like a complimentary couples massage.

The hotel’s geometric, modern lines run from the guest rooms to the various pools — long, rectangular stretches of water flanked by cabanas and in-water lounge chairs.

The onsite fitness center offers sea views, while dining options range from French and Mexican to Italian and Japanese. Meanwhile, test out the Feel Harmony Spa by Live Aqua for the ultimate relaxation. It uses Natura Bissé products and offers luxurious services like citrus and oxygen treatments, detox marine wraps, and water rituals.

Room rates start at $390 per night; room rates for the honeymoon suite start at $650 per night. Make sure to join the Fiesta Rewards program to earn points on your stay, as well as perks and discounts.

Excellence Punta Cana pool and beach view.

Excellence Punta Cana considers itself to be a “ bespoke all-inclusive experience ,” which we certainly find intriguing, as sometimes, during a larger all-inclusive resort experience, things like personal service tend to get lost in the chaos. But not at Excellence, which ensures every guest has the vacation they need.

Guests can explore the hotel’s lagoon-style pools beneath swaying palm trees on an idyllic stretch of white sands. There’s also a fitness center with gym equipment that offers cardio, Pilates, and yoga classes. The Miilé Spa is massive, complete with 14 treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, various sensations showers, a Swedish sauna, spa gardens, an ice room, and more.

The hotel is all-suite, with options ranging from the lowest-category garden view junior suites to oceanfront terrace suites with plunge pools. With more than 10 different bar and restaurant options, guests can choose from fresh seafood to Mexican or French cuisine and everything in between.

Suite rates start at $298 per night.

Not exactly sure what all-inclusive means ? While each hotel has its own rules and regulations about what all-inclusive rates include, in most hotels and resorts, it means that food, drinks, use of the resort’s facilities, and some activities are included . While some hotels worldwide offer all-inclusive rates (among other rates, like breakfast or half-board), most all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana are fully all-inclusive with everything included.

The 2 Best All-inclusive Resorts in Punta Cana for Young Adults, Couples, Friends, or Singles

Many hotels in Punta Cana are catered towards adults, but not necessarily adults-only. If you don’t mind spotting a lone child or teen at the pool or are hoping to enjoy an adult-centric all-inclusive without it feeling like you’re the only one not on your honeymoon, here are the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for adults, from young adults to spring breakers to a solo getaway .

A bungalow at Zoetry

Zoëtry is an all-inclusive brand within the Hyatt portfolio that’s re-designed its all-inclusive experience to feel more personal. From authentic cuisine to guest-focused customer service to enriching and authentic attractions and activities, the brand strives to redefine the concept from an all-inclusive: think locally-sourced, curated gastronomy options vs. tourist hordes shoving each other to be first in line for french fries at the dinner buffet.

The Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana fits the brand’s profile perfectly, featuring just 96 suites, 4 à la carte restaurants, and a property that feels luxurious but also inspired by the local environment — think cane-thatched roofs that tower over balconies and in-room Jacuzzis. Other details include Bvlgari bath amenities, private plunge pools, daily afternoon tea time, and coral stone bathrooms .

From the Caribbean cuisine at the onsite restaurant Piragua to the citrus and marine-themed treatments at the spa, even the possibility of a helicopter transfer to the resort, a stay here will feel more like a boutique hotel than a traditional all-inclusive.

Room rates start at $450 or 35,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana balcony with guitar and tub

From doubling down at the Hard Rock Casino to finding your inner child at the hotel’s water park to snapping Instagrammable shots on the beachfront Hard Rock sign (think a la Hollywood sign-style), this is one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana for young adults or spring breakers . Top-shelf liquor is included in the all-inclusive rate, and you won’t have to leave to go dancing, thanks to the hotel’s onsite nightclub. This might be one of Punta Cana’s best all-inclusive resorts for college students looking for spring break fun in the sun.

And groups of friends can even have major jam sessions — the Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana allows guests to pick from 20 different Fender guitars and have one delivered directly to their room, alongside an amp and headphones.

That being said, families won’t be shunned here, as the onsite water park, numerous pools (including an adults-only option), arcade, laser tag, bowling area, and mini-golf may appeal to everyone. Even pets are welcome if you want to bring along furry friends.

Room rates start around $350 per night.

If you’re wondering whether or not to tip at all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, it varies. Tipping is optional at most resorts. If you’d like to tip, first find out if staff members are allowed to accept tips. In most cases, tipping is discretionary. If you feel like you’ve had great service, consider leaving a tip on the bed for housekeeping or at a restaurant after a meal you enjoyed. You can tip in either U.S. dollars or Dominican pesos.

The 4 Best All-inclusive Resorts in Punta Cana for Families

Punta Cana is one of the top spots in the Caribbean to come with children, teens, and other family members. Many all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana have top family amenities. Some Punta Cana all-inclusive family resorts have water parks, kids’ clubs, and other children and teen-catered activities . These are the best family-friendly all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana.

Water slides at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana water park

While the aforementioned Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana is adults-only, its sister site is the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana , which is the family version. If you’re in the market for a Punta Cana all-inclusive family resort with a water park, this is one of the best spots, thanks to its onsite Canapolis Water Park , complete with 5 slides. Both kids and adults will also love that non-motorized water sports are included, like kayaking and paddleboarding.

The hotel features The Lost City of Anac Pac Kids & Teen Club , with a spider zone play area, indoor treehouse, and teen lounge with video games. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy wellness activities, including Zumba, yoga, or Pilates classes at the 14,000-square-foot fitness center or head to the spa, which features 18 treatment rooms, a natural cave and lagoon, and the Dominican Republic’s first Himalayan Salt Lounge.

Regarding guest rooms, the hotel has 375 suites ideal for families — even the most basic room category, a junior suite with king rooms or double beds, has a living space that can turn into extra space for additional family members .

Suite rates start at around $500 or 35,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

Dreams Flora Punta Cana

With numerous all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana as part of the Hyatt portfolio (including 5 different Dreams properties), you may wonder which is the best all-inclusive for you. Depending on your preference, you may be looking for an all-inclusive with swim-up rooms or a Punta Cana all-inclusive family resort with a water park. For those looking for a new hotel (but not so new it hasn’t yet worked on the kinks), choose the Dreams Flora Resort & Spa , which opened in December of 2022 . The hotel also has those aforementioned swim-up suites, as well as a water park.

Besides the 4 pools and water park , the property is ideal for families, from its giant chess board and indoor game room to its beach volleyball courts and basketball court. The hotel offers both the Core Zone for teens and the Explorers Club for children and childcare services (at an additional cost).

While the kids are safely enjoying activities in the aforementioned clubs, parents can dine and drink at 8 restaurants or 13 bars . Or, head to the Dreams Spa by Pevonia , featuring a hydrotherapy circuit, Vichy cabin, sauna, steam room, lounge room, indoor pool, and a full-service salon with beauty, nail, and hair treatments.

Room rates start at about $225 per night but can be double that in peak season. Points rates start at 17,000 World of Hyatt points per night.

Dog at Radisson Blu Punta Cana by cocktail and pool

This all-suite hotel is perfect for families, and kids under 2 stay free. Even the most basic king suites have a small living space, coffee maker, outdoor terrace, and bathroom with a rainfall shower. Larger families should opt for a 2- or 3-bedroom condo — some even feature extensive private outdoor space, a whirlpool, and ocean views.

The Radisson Blu Resort & Residence Punta Cana ‘s lagoon-style pool weaves through the center of the property, meaning you can find family-friendly sections and quieter areas to relax. And while some all-inclusive resorts may upcharge you for certain amenities, this resort includes everything, from speedy Wi-Fi to beachside cocktails to 24-hour dining. The fitness center is open 24 hours, too.

The kids’ club is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and features activities like arts and crafts, video games, supervised swimming, and water activities. Meanwhile, parents can relax on the palm tree-lined beach or head to the spa, which offers treatments such as seaweed facials, after-sun rituals, and sea salt polishes. You can even bring your dog along to join the family fun, as the hotel allows 1 dog per room up to 18 pounds.

Suite rates start at $230 or 75,000 Radisson Rewards points per night.

Guests getting slimed Nickelodeon Hotel

The name of this resort, Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Punta Cana , tells you right away it will be family-friendly. From the Agua Nick Waterpark to the Nickelodeon characters that roam the breakfast buffet and the Nickelodeon-themed villas, children of all ages will love this family-friendly, all-inclusive Punta Cana resort . And the hotel’s gourmet all-inclusive package includes everything, from premium liquor to slime cocktails for the kids.

It wouldn’t be Nickelodeon without slime, and the Club Nick Kids Club and the Nickelodeon Palace have plenty to offer, from slime experiences to dance parties, ball pits, a baby zone, and plenty of other activities to keep the kids occupied.

Just because the hotel feels kid-themed doesn’t mean adults don’t get a relaxing vacation. From luxury swim-up suites to 4 pools, 9 restaurants, 3 bars, and a spa, adults can take advantage of several activities.

For a fun kid-friendly splurge, consider the Pineapple Suite, modeled after SpongeBob SquarePants’s undersea home, with 2 bedrooms, 3 marble bathrooms, a signature infinity pool, and an outdoor patio. Rooms even feature baby-friendly amenities, such as bottle warmers, strollers, and cribs.

Room rates start at $380 per night.

One of the best ways to enjoy the Dominican resort town of Punta Cana is by staying at an all-inclusive resort. An all-inclusive trip to Punta Cana is best when you’re in the mood for a beach-themed getaway and don’t feel like exploring the surrounding area or doing many off-the-resort activities . In most cases, all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana include all food and drinks, entertainment, and activities, though inclusions may vary by resort. Whether you’re in the market for a family-friendly experience, the best all-inclusive for young adults, or an adults-only Caribbean retreat, Punta Cana has an all-inclusive hotel for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much money should i bring to an all-inclusive resort in punta cana.

If you’re staying at an all-inclusive resort, you shouldn’t need to spend too much additional money. Most places take credit cards, but having some cash for tips and shopping is helpful, especially smaller bills. You may want to plan to spend between a couple hundred to $500, which can cover excursions, shopping, and airport meals or transfers. However, this amount varies based on your family or group size, the activities you plan to do, and how much you tip.

Do all-inclusive hotels include flights?

No, all-inclusive hotels don’t include flights. However, some hotels offer the option to book an all-inclusive package that includes flights. Here are Upgraded Points, we think it’s better to book flights and all-inclusive hotels separately. This way, you can earn and redeem frequent flyer miles. Booking airfare and hotels directly also makes it easier to troubleshoot if anything goes wrong.

What is the best month to go to Punta Cana?

The best months to travel to Punta Cana are between December and April. This is Punta Cana’s dry season, which means you have warm, sunny weather and little rain. However, these months are peak season and often expensive, so traveling in months like May or June may mean you’ll see lower prices. If you travel between June and November, know it’s Atlantic hurricane season, which means you may see rain, or worse, a hurricane could affect your trip.

What time of year is Punta Cana cheapest?

The cheapest time of year to visit Punta Cana is usually May or September. The weather is rainy, and kids are in school, so the island sees fewer visitors. These months are often the best time to visit if you’re looking for more affordable rates.

Which is more popular: Cancun or Punta Cana?

Cancun and Punta are both popular vacation destinations. When deciding which to visit, know that Cancun is more developed and has more to do outside the resort, like exploring natural swimming holes or ruins. Punta Cana feels more like a tropical paradise. Its beaches feel more pristine, with white sands and lush palm trees, but there’s less to do in the way of activities.

Mexico is one of the most popular destinations in the world for all-inclusive resorts, with properties lining both of its coasts. And while booking an all-inclusive property may seem like a big investment up front, they can end up saving you money overall when you factor in the lack of food, beverage, and activity costs.

Fortunately, there are affordable all-inclusives all across Mexico that won't break the bank. Whether you're looking for a Riviera Maya beachfront party, a secluded jungle retreat, or a cool view in Cabo, there's an all-inclusive resort for you. For more vetted where to stay options in Mexico, read up on our 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards winners—including our readers’ favorite  top 10 hotels in Mexico ,  top 40 resorts in Mexico , and  top 20 resorts in eastern Mexico .

Where should I stay in Mexico?

The majority of Mexico's all-inclusive resorts are set along its two coasts. Some of the most popular east coast destinations include Cancún, Playa del Carmen, and Cozumel, all of which are known for beautiful beaches, lively nightlife, and proximity to cenotes and Mayan Ruins. On the west coast, there's Cabo San Lucas, famous for its rocky coasts, and Puerto Vallarta, an LGBTQ+ hotspot known for beaches and jungles.

What is the cheapest time to go to Mexico?

The cheapest time to go to Mexico is in May through June or September through November, the two shoulder seasons for most of Mexico’s destinations. Beware spring break, when prices skyrocket.

Is it worth it to pay for all-inclusives?

All-inclusives can be worth the price if you plan on spending the majority of your time at the resort. Because you're already paying for all meals, you should dine on-property the majority of the time. Many on-resort activities are also included in the rates, so you’ll get more bang for your buck if you take advantage of them. The best part about an all-inclusive resort is the convenience—you don't have to think about budgeting or splitting bills with your party, and that alone may be worth the price.

Under $300:

Hotel nyx cancun.

The vibe:  Boutiquey all-inclusive Top amenities:  Infinity pool, gym, Balinese-style beach loungers What's included:  Meals and beverages at restaurants, Wi-Fi Price tag: $

At just 196 rooms, Hotel NYX Cancun is more on the more boutique side of the scale when it comes to all-inclusive resorts. As such, it feels delightfully uncrowded, despite being located right in the middle of Cancun's Hotel Zone. There are two pools, two restaurants, and a lobby bar, as well as a lovely stretch of beach lined with Balinese-style loungers. There's no formal spa, but you can get massages in private treatment rooms or on the beach for an additional fee.

The Explorean Kohunlich Chetumal

The Explorean Kohunlich, Chetumal

The vibe: Secluded jungle retreat Top amenities: Infinity pool, spa with Mayan-inspired treatments What's included: Meals, beverages, excursions, activities  Price tag: $$

If the beach isn't your thing—or if traditional all-inclusives aren't your thing—this is the hotel for you. It's a 40-room property located about an hour inland from the laid-back city of Chetumal on the border of Mexico and Belize, so there's no beach to be found. Instead, you're surrounded by lush jungle, singing birds, and Mayan ruins. On the relaxation front, there's a small infinity pool overlooking the canopy, as well as a spa with Mayan-inspired treatments. And for meals, you'll be dining at an open-air palapa-style restaurant serving local cuisine. The hotel is happy to set you up with bike tours of the Mayan ruins, excursions into town, or even sailboat charters. But who's to blame you if you only want to hop in a hammock and take in the soothing sounds of nature at the hotel?

Viva Wyndham Maya, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  High-energy Top amenities:  Spa, archery, water sports What's included:  Meals, beverages, room service, resort sports Price tag:  $$

With more than 600 rooms, this is a big resort, and it certainly has the big energy to match. There's always something going on here, whether that's a themed party, fitness classes, or live shows. And there are so many activities to enjoy, too—trapeze, archery, kayaking, windsurfing, rock climbing, among other resort sports, are all included in the rate. While this is a family-friendly resort, there are some great adult amenities, including the spa, a nightclub, and an adult-only pool with a bar.

pool with palm trees and umbrellas

Solmar Resort, Cabo San Lucas

The vibe:  Relaxed, no frills Top amenities:  Swim-up bar, poolside sushi bar What's included:  Meals and beverages Price tag:  $$

Cabo isn't known for being an affordable town, but the Solmar Resort bucks the trend as one of the most budget-friendly properties. That said, it's a short (yet walkable) distance away from the nightlife of Cabo, but that means plenty of peace and quiet on property. This is a family-friendly resort, though, so you can expect a little noise by the two pools, but the overall vibe is very relaxed. The one thing to note is that you can't swim in the ocean here—the sea is too rough. But the pool areas make up for that, as there's a poolside sushi bar and a swim-up bar here.

Dreams Acapulco Resort & Spa, Acapulco

The vibe:  Budget-friendly, high-value Top amenities:  Spa, seven restaurants What's included:  Meals, beverages, activities Price tag:  $

2024 Readers' Choice Awards Survey

On Mexico's west coast is the busy resort town of Acapulco, where you'll find this budget-friendly resort. It is, admittedly, a little outdated, but it offers one of the best bangs for your buck when it comes to its all-inclusive packages. All seven of its dining venues are included in the rate, as are top-shelf liquors and 24-hour room service. And many activities at the resort are covered, too, including an introductory scuba diving lesson in one of the pools. The one thing you'll have to splurge on is spa treatments, but we think that's worth the extra cost.

Under $600:

Dreams Huatulco Resort amp Spa Tangolunda

Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa, Tangolunda

The vibe:  Classic all-inclusive Top amenities:  Spa, kid's club, resort sports What's included:  Meals, beverages, resort sports like archery and kayaking Price tag:  $$

The state of  Oaxaca may not be nearly as popular as some of the major resort destinations like Quintana Roo (where you'll find Cancún and Playa del Carmen), but that means the crowds are far fewer. But at Dreams Huatulco, you'll find all the classic amenities you've come to expect in an all-inclusive resort. There are three pools, five restaurants, six bars and lounges, and a spa. You'll find plenty of daily entertainment, from live shows to karaoke nights to movie nights. There are also many on-resort sports like archery, kayaking, and windsurfing, most of which are included in the rate.

Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort, Akumal

The vibe: Relaxed beach haven Top amenities:  Wellness center with yoga classes What's included:  Meals, beverages, Wi-Fi, one-hour daily snorkel rental, yoga classes Price tag:  $$

The 310-room Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort is set on a wide stretch of soft-sand beach, and that's this property's main draw. Included in the rate is a daily hour-long snorkel rental, which gives you the chance to spot sea turtles just offshore. Landside, guests can dine at one of six restaurants, including a sushi bar and a Peruvian restaurant, as well as a 24-hour snack bar and a lobby bar. The wellness offerings include a spa with a sauna and whirlpool (massage treatments cost extra), a gym, and free daily yoga classes. And there are four pools for those needing a break from the sea.

Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Adults-only resort in the center of the city Top amenities: Spa, rooftop sushi bar What's included:  Meals at certain restaurants, beverages, beach towels, WiFi Price tag : $$

There's a little bit of everything at this mid-size all-inclusive resort, which is located a block off of the Fifth Avenue pedestrian mall in the center of Playa Del Carmen. Despite being in the heart of town, there is a small beach here (it sustained hurricane damage and erosion.) Other highlights include a rooftop sushi bar, a serene spa, and a large pool area. If you're looking for a vivacious time, don't miss the wild weekly foam party on Saturday nights—and really any show hosted around the pool. And if you're not, there's plenty of chill vibes to be found throughout the resort.

The Fives Beach Hotel amp Residences Playa del Carmen

The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Contemporary, upbeat Top amenities: Beach club, spa, 15 bars and restaurants What's included : Meals, beverages, WiFi Price tag:  $$

The Fives Beach Hotel & Residences isn't exclusively an all-inclusive resort, but you can opt for meal plans that make it so. And it's a good idea, too. There are 15 restaurants and bars across the property, with cuisines ranging from Italian to Thai. There's even an exclusive gin bar if gin and tonics are your thing. The property also has a fairly lively pool and beach scene—there are five pools, each with their own bar, as well as a full beach club. When you're not dining or drinking, head for the 15,000-square-foot spa for some recovery. We recommend the hydrotherapy circuit.

Barceló Maya Caribe, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Never a dull moment Top amenities:  Spa, bowling alley, water park, escape room What's included:  Meals, beverages, some activities Price tag:  $$

You want it? Barceló Maya Caribe has it. The 1,000-plus-room resort has an extraordinary number of amenities: mini-golf, bowling alley, pickleball courts, tennis courts, non-motorized sports, theaters, nightclubs, a teen nightclub, a water park, a kids' club—you get the point. There are even two escape rooms (that do cost an additional point). With so much to do, you might find it hard to enjoy the beach, the three restaurants, the eight pools, or the 32,000-square-foot spa. One of the more unique features of the hotel is that some of its Premium Level rooms are swim-up—they open directly into pools.

Meliá Puerto Vallarta

Meliá Puerto Vallarta

Melia Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Vallarta

The vibe:  Family-friendly Top amenities: Rock-climbing wall, archery range, lagoon-style pool What's included:  Meals, beverages, some resort sports, WiFi Price tag:  $$

Programming at this well-landscaped Puerto Vallarta resort in Marina Vallarta is largely geared towards families. The kids' club is a major draw—they host plenty of events for kids and teens, from craft workshops to sports tournaments to pool activities—but programming extends to other parts of the resort, too, such as milk and cookies in your room. Adults and children alike can enjoy other resort amenities like the lagoon-style pool, tennis courts, a rock-climbing wall, and an archery range. For adults, there are plenty of wellness offerings, too, from the spa to yoga and stretching classes.

Mia Reef Isla Mujeres, Isla Mujeres

The vibe:  Private island Top amenities:  Spa, swim-up bar What's included:  Meals, beverages Price tag:  $$

This colorful all-inclusive resort is located on a private island off Isla Mujeres, itself just a 20 minute ferry ride from Cancún. Although it's not very hard to get to—it's connected by a footbridge to the main island and is just a few minutes from downtown—it does have a secluded feel. With fewer than 200 rooms, it's not an overly large resort, so it's a somewhat quiet atmosphere, but it is family-friendly and the small beach can get a little crowded. It gets even quieter at the small spa, which has just three treatment rooms, including a couples suite.

Iberostar Tucán

Iberostar Tucán

Iberostar Tucan, Playa del Carmen

The vibe:  Beachfront garden escape Top amenities:  Spa, archery range, kids' club What's included:  Meals, beverages, non-motorized water sports Price tag:  $$$

This five-star property is definitely on the upper side of affordable, but you can definitely find good deals for stays outside of peak travel periods like winter break. While it has a fine-sand beach that's definitely a draw for most guests, the property stands out for its lush gardens. You'll find much local flora throughout, and quite a bit of local fauna, such as monkeys, colorful birds, and even turtles. There are 16 restaurants and bars, including an ice cream shop, a cigar lounge, and a Texas-style smokehouse. Wellness is a big focus, between free aerobics and yoga classes for adults and the spa.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico, Playa del Carmen

The vibe: Artisan-driven, eco-minded Top amenities:  Spa, lagoon, 12 restaurants What's included:  Meals, beverages, entrance to Xcaret parks, airport shuttle Price tag:  $$$

This is a massive property with 900 rooms, but the layout of the resort is such that it doesn't feel crowded anywhere—they're spread across five distinct "casas" that are smaller in scale. There are 12 restaurants here, all of which are included in the rate, as well as a variety of pools and a spa that also offers yoga classes and meditation lessons. The best part about staying at any Xcaret property is that you get free entrance to Xcaret parks where you can see Mayan ruins, swim in cenotes, and go snorkeling. There's even an on-property lagoon for snorkeling, kayaking, and swimming.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination, Playa Del Carmen

The vibe:  Jungle fun Top amenities:  Spa, lagoon, nightclub What's included:  Meals, beverages, entrance to Xcaret park Price tag:  $$

Right next to the eco-archeological park of Xcaret, this 25-acre resort is filled with wildlife, from monkeys to coatis to iguanas. It's also filled with guests—there are more than 700 rooms. But there's plenty of space to spread out across the 11 restaurants, 10 bars, five pools, fitness center, sports courts, beach club, and spa. It should be noted, though, that there's no ocean access here—the beach lines a lagoon. Guests at this resort get free entrance into the Xcaret park, where they can see Mayan cultural performances.

Paradisus Los Cabos

Paradisus Los Cabos

Paradisus Los Cabos, San Jose del Cabo

The vibe:  Luxury at a fair price Top amenities:  Swimmable beach, kids' club What's included:  Meals, beverages, fitness classes Price tag:  $$

Though Cabo is an oceanfront resort destination, it isn't known for its swimmable beaches, as the seas can get pretty rough. But Paradisus Los Cabos is located on the only swimmable beach in the region, which makes it a pretty attractive place to stay. Beyond that, it's an upscale property with seven restaurants, three pools (some of which have swim-up suites), and lots of evening entertainment, from themed parties to cultural shows.

Dreams Sapphire Resort & Spa, Puerto Morelos

The vibe:  A little bit of everything Top amenities: Spa, water park, three pools What's included:  Meals, beverages, room service, WiFi Price tag:  $$

Just 15 minutes from the airport, this hotel allows you to get right into the fun after hopping off your flight. As with all Dream properties, all restaurants—there are five of them—are included in the rate, along with top-shelf alcohol and 24-hour room service. You also have access to the facilities at the nearby Dreams Jade Resort & Spa. Entertainment includes live shows, themed parties, and a Temazcal healing ceremony, and activities include resort and non-motorized water sports like tennis, archery, and kayaking. When you need a breather from all the action, head for the spa.

The 17 best all-inclusive resorts in the US for a spectacular vacation

Tanner Saunders

You might think that the best all-inclusive resorts are found dotting the beaches of Mexico and the islands of the Caribbean . While there are certainly plenty of incredible options in the sunny tropics, there are also plenty of great all-inclusive resorts in the U.S.

Believe it or not, from the Florida Keys all the way to the California coast, there are incredible all-inclusive resorts and hotels where all (or most) of your food, drinks and activities are included in the price and you won't get sticker shock from the final bill. And they're different from what you'd expect, including dude ranches serving elevated Western fare and wellness-focused retreats in the desert.

How to choose the best all-inclusive resort in the US for your travel style

Booking an all-inclusive resort in the U.S. is slightly different from booking the more traditional ones in tropical destinations. So while researching, make sure to read the fine print about what exactly is included in your rate because many of the properties listed below might include all of your meals but not alcohol (or just wine with dinner, for example). You'll also want to consider what extra activities are included in the price and what activities (like horseback riding or fly-fishing) cost extra so you have a clear idea of how much you'll actually experience for your dream vacation.

One other difference to note is that some all-inclusive resorts in the U.S. (especially dude ranches and wellness retreats) have minimum stays or select check-in days (like Monday or Thursday), so consider being flexible with your travel dates.

Ahead, find our top choices for all-inclusive resorts located within the U.S.

If you're craving an escape that feels totally tropical without having to actually leave the country, it's probably time to head down to the Florida Keys for a stay at Little Palm Island Resort & Spa, where an all-inclusive-like vacation awaits.

Found on Little Torch Key, about 30 miles from Key West, the adults-only resort really feels like paradise and features beautiful bungalows with thatched roofs, ocean views and plenty of space to stretch out and relax. For couples looking for something extra special, the Island Romance Suites come with outdoor cooper tubs and showers, a beach area with a fire pit and a private deck to enjoy.

At the resort, activities include kayaking, fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, meeting dolphins at the research center, or letting it all go and just posting up at the spa for a treatment (or two!).

Meals are served at The Dining Room, an airy restaurant with ocean views and cute bar called the Monkey Hut.

Though not a true all-inclusive resort that you'd most likely find in Mexico or the Dominican Republic, the resort's "Culinary Paradise Package" will sure make it feel like it. The package, which requires a two-night minimum stay, includes daily breakfast, daily three-course lunch, nightly four-course dinner, a welcome bottle of bubbly and a $100 spa credit, per person, per night.

Rates at Little Palm Island Resort & Spa start at $2,590 per night, based on double occupancy. The Culinary Paradise Package starts at $3,610.

Just an hour's drive from Phoenix, Castle Hot Springs is a luxury desert oasis in a lush, almost tropical setting with sky-high palm trees and over 1,000 acres of land to explore and relax. The resort, which dates back to the 1800s, has a series of natural hot springs that start at 86 degrees Fahrenheit and top out around 106.

For meals, the resort's property-grown ingredients are the star of the show, with breakfast, lunch and a multicourse tasting menu in the evening. Though alcoholic drinks aren't included in the rate, a daily $25 beverage credit is offered per guest per night.

Besides soaking in the natural hot springs (which are reserved exclusively for those staying at the resort), guests can find Zen through meditation, take a farm tour to see where the food is grown, experience nature through a guided hike, or pay extra for spa treatments and adrenaline-inducing activities like an elevated adventure course and utility task vehicle tours .

Rates at Castle Hot Springs start at $1,400 per night, based on double occupancy. Two- and three-night minimums are required for most dates and the resort is closed for most of July and August.

An adults-only resort hugging the coast of Big Sur, California, which is arguably one of the most scenic areas in the U.S., this resort has long been a favorite of readers and staffers of TPG, even before it was converted into an all-inclusive property in 2020 .

At this property, one of three Alilas in California, guests are invited to relax in one of 59 rustic-chic rooms and suites that are as comfortable as they are luxurious; all of them include a walk-in shower, soaking tub, stocked minibar, great views and either a balcony or private deck. To take it up a notch, reserve a room with a fireplace to snuggle up next to or a hot tub for an even more intimate place to relax.

Produce grown on the property, alongside locally sourced ingredients, are front and center at the modern American restaurant The Sur House; just note that alcohol is supplemental to this Alila's inclusive package. During a visit, explore the great outdoors on a hike, hit up the indoor and outdoor wellness studios for some mental and physical stimulation and take a moment to breathe during a yoga class. Just don't forget to schedule time in the Japanese hot baths to soak up the power of invigoratingly hot water or, for an added fee, visit Spa Alila for a special treatment, like the Jade Body Ritual ($330), which uses basalt stones and Swedish massage techniques to eliminate life's stress.

Rates at Alila Ventana Big Sur start around $1,300 per night for double occupancy, including all meals and various activities. World of Hyatt members can book this Category 8 property from 35,000 to 45,000 points per night.

A working farm, a luxury resort and an internationally acclaimed dining destination, Blackberry Farm, a gem of a resort set on 4,200 acres near the majestic Smoky Mountains, is a truly special place to get away. The resort's signature "Foothills Cuisine" will change everything you thought you knew about American food. Starting with dinner on the day of arrival through to the very last lunch before checkout, expect meticulously prepared meals crafted with seasonal ingredients foraged from the on-site 4-acre garden and other locally sourced ingredients.

With 69 different accommodations, there's room for everyone, from three-to-five-bedroom houses with space to spread out to 1,080-square-foot Hill Cottages with typical Tennessee front porch rocking chairs, private golf carts and warm fireplaces. On the smaller side, the farm's Historic Rooms are intimate, cozy and decorated with antiques that are classy and classic at the same time.

Come for the food but stay for the seemingly countless activities like hiking, yoga, horseback riding and fly fishing, among many, many others (though many of them have an additional cost outside of the inclusive offerings). There are also top-tier concerts populating the farm's entertainment calendar, alongside a spa, wellness treatments and special programs designed to entertain and educate children .

Nightly rates at Blackberry Farm start at $1,045 and require a three-night minimum stay.

With three wellness-focused resorts across Arizona, Texas and Massachusetts, any of Hyatt's Miraval locations is worth considering for a visit, and though it's no easy contest among them, we'd have to argue that Miraval Berkshires is truly one of the best all-inclusive resorts in the U.S.

A "digital device-free resort," guests check their phones at the door and instead of checking emails and Instagram likes, they're invited to check in on themselves through wellness and wellbeing programs that are designed to enhance their lives and their health. That includes deep dives on nutrition, fitness activities like a barre class in the pool, connecting with nature through hiking and limbering up as you practice your lotus pose during yoga.

Other activities, at an additional cost, include learning the art of pottery, mastering the bow and arrow in archery and getting up close and personal with horses in specially designed therapeutic sessions with gentle equines.

Inclusive rates at Miraval Berkshires include breakfast, lunch and dinner at the health-focused restaurant Harvest Moon, or ordered directly to the room. Though the entire experience is top-notch, a further elevated experience (for an additional fee) can be had at 1894, offering four-course, prix fixe menus served as part of an interactive experience.

And as for where you'll rest your very relaxed head, choose from a range of options like a room in the Gilded Age Wyndhurst Mansion , a 600-square-foot suite with a balcony, or a room in a historic cottage, all of which are stocked with Tibetan singing bowls and meditation cushions.

Rates at Miraval Berkshires start at $1,058 or between 57,500 and 72,000 points per night, both based on double occupancy. Note that every award booking includes a $175 resort credit per person.

Located just 30 minutes from downtown Austin (and also accessible by car), this spa resort is an intimate experience, with just 40 bright and airy rooms with private porches, soaking tubs, 12-foot ceilings and a few cottages with hot tubs .

The all-inclusive pricing includes three meals per day, including via room service, along with snacks as well as unlimited fresh smoothies and juices. It also offers guests access to 24-hour fitness facilities, unlimited use of lake equipment like stand-up paddleboards and kayaks, a lakeside beach with swings and hammocks and two outdoor pools, plus a heated indoor lap pool and 20 daily activities including hiking, belly dancing and more.

Considering this is a spa resort, you might be happy to hear the spa itself is a whopping 25,000 square feet and guests have access to its steam rooms, saunas, whirlpools, gardens and relaxation areas. They can also book a range of treatments , from signature facials like the "The Regal by Valmont" ($1,050), which uses Essence of Gold caviar, to custom deep-tissue massages (starting at $225). The only question: Which one will you choose?

You don't have to be a cowboy to appreciate a luxury ranch — or to simply bask in the wonder of Montana's natural beauty. The Ranch at Rock Creek gives visitors the best of it all — a truly luxe experience, incredible activities and even the chance to ski — with inclusive pricing that means (mostly) everything is taken care of before you even take off on the trip.

With 29 accommodations on offer, there are options as vast as the Montana sky, from hybrid luxury glamping tents to historic converted barns to multiroom homes with space for the entire family.

Ranch-style food is the name of the game here, with a handful of dining options offered across breakfast and lunch, though the star of the show is the rotating seasonal dinner schedule that'll have guests do-si-doing under the stars at a barn dance and enjoying a barbecue with a side of a summer rodeo. And for an even more upscale experience, make sure to visit during the weekly chef's tasting menu experience on Fridays.

Outside of dining, guests can plan every activity through a dedicated "Ranch Ambassador," who might suggest seasonal activities like snowboarding, skiing or tubing, or other memorable experiences like horseback riding, archery and fly fishing. And when all that makes you feel a little tuckered out, hit up the spa for a rejuvenating treatment so you're refreshed, revived and ready to do it all again the next day.

Rates at The Ranch at Rock Creek start at $2,300 per night, based on double occupancy.

Tucked away in rural Vermont, Twin Farms is the antithesis of the stereotypical all-inclusive beach resort. Here, instead of hundreds of cookie-cutter rooms, travelers have a choice of 20 perfectly curated and individually designed cottages and suites with the flavor of a boutique hotel and the coziness of a lived-in cabin.

More like a traditional all-inclusive experience, though, all meals plus alcoholic beverages (including spirits) are offered in the restaurant or served directly in your cottage or suite. For a very special lunchtime treat, request a picnic-style lunch that can be set up anywhere on Twin Farms' 300-acre grounds.

Despite its seemingly slow and leisurely pace, there's no shortage of things to do at this luxe retreat. In the winter, take advantage of sledding, snowshoeing or visiting the farm's private mountain for skiing. When it's warm, canoeing, fly fishing, kayaking, tennis and swimming in a picturesque pond are all on offer. Or, if relaxing is the only thing on the agenda, the Bridge House Spa therapists will come directly to you for an in-room ritual or invite you into a treatment room for a facial or massage (for an extra fee).

Rates at Twin Farms start at $2,800, based on double occupancy.

The magic number at Little St. Simons Island, off the coast of Georgia, is 32, because that is the maximum number of guests that can stay at the resort at any one time. Intimate and almost like stepping out of the modern world and into a gentle wilderness, the island offers 11,000 acres of unspoiled beauty to explore, with 7 miles of beaches.

To get to the island property, which dates back to 1979 and is located between Savannah, Georgia, and St. Augustine, Florida, guests must catch a ferry from Hampton River Marina on St. Simons Island, which is accessible by car.

On the island, there are six cottages with one to four bedrooms that can be booked by the room, by the cottage or, if you want to take over the whole place, the entire island is available to book (starting at $8,000 per night). The cabins are rustic but well appointed with cedar furniture, gathering areas — like screened-in porches or living rooms with fireplaces — and postcard-perfect views of the island's many live oak trees. The various arrangements make mixing and matching room or cottage types based on your group's needs a breeze.

All meals are included in the nightly rate and feature shared plates made with ingredients grown on the island and procured from the area, like locally dredged oysters, served in The Lodge. Hors d'oeuvres and snacks are also available throughout the day. As for activities, there are fishing experiences with all equipment provided, 26 miles of hiking trails, kayaking through the marsh, a saltwater swimming pool, open-air truck safaris and loaner bikes you can take out to the beach.

A family-friendly experience, the island welcomes kids of all ages between Memorial Day and Labor Day but is limited to kids age 6 and up the rest of the year.

Rates at Little St. Simons Island start at $700 per night on weekdays and $800 per night on weekends for a double-occupancy room. A two-night minimum stay is required.

Bungalows Key Largo is the Florida Keys' take on a more traditional beachfront experience, one with all the attributes that folks look for in an all-inclusive concept — meaning a true beach you can visit … with an included drink in hand.

This adults-only resort for those age 21 and up has it all, starting with 135,900-square-foot bungalows with verandas featuring outdoor showers, soaking tubs in the bathrooms and private porches. And don't worry about paying extra for drinks, as most top-shelf liquor, beer and wine is included.

Also included are daily group yoga classes, live entertainment karaoke nights and watersports like standup paddleboarding and kayaking. Guests can also ante up for some paid excursions that are well worth the money, like taking the crew out for drinks on a floating tiki boat , going on a sunset cruise, or heading to the Key Largo Spa for a massage in a waterfront tiki.

Rates at Bungalows Key Largo start at $799 per night based on double occupancy. Garden Bungalows have a two-night minimum stay while Waterfront Bungalows have a three-night minimum stay.

Located along the Hudson River in upstate New York, Rocking Horse Ranch Resort is fun for the whole family anytime of the year. In the Main Lodge, guests can choose between two room types: one with double queen beds that sleeps four and one with double queen beds and bunk beds that sleep up to six. The Oklahoma Building, right next door, has the same room types plus a suite option with a queen bed and bunk beds with a partial wall for more privacy, two full bathrooms, two TVs and two minifridges.

All meals are included for everyone in the group and served buffet-style at breakfast (with 40 options) and lunch (featuring a large salad bar), while dinner is a rotating a la carte menu with items like strip steaks and barbecue. Though alcoholic drinks aren't included in the rate, the Silverado Saloon is open for adult beverages and Shirley Temples for the young ones.

At the resort, nearly all activities are included in the nightly rate, from horseback riding to tractor rides to indoor and outdoor water park visits with slides and splash pads, winter activities like sledding and tubing, water activities on a private lake, magic and comedy shows, firework displays and laser tag. Whether you want to escape the snow for the heated indoor water park or beat the summer heat with a fun day on the lake, this all-American, all-inclusive resort really does have it all.

For the young and young at heart, Fair Hills Resort is an oasis of fun in Minnesota that's open from May-September and harks back to the glory days of a typical American vacation: one with goofy games, waterslides, campfires and cabins. Speaking of cabins, this isn't a Four Seasons and the resort is quick to let you know that its one-to-four-bedroom cabins are basic and have no air conditioning, but that just adds to the camp vibe the entire place gives off.

Three meals daily are included with stays and, fittingly, announced by the clang of a bell echoing throughout the resort. Breakfast is a buffet while lunch is lighter, with a salad bar and twice-weekly picnics. Dinner is a rotating three-course menu that can include dishes such as steak, prime rib or Minnesota walleye fish. And for picky eaters, off-menu cold items are also available.

The activities are wide-ranging, too. In fact, the 94-year-old resort has a detailed calendar showing exactly what the family can expect. Treasure hunts, Zumba classes, capture the flag, river tubing, scavenger hunts and talent shows are all on offer. But don't fret parents, adult activities like poker night are scheduled, too. Sports include tennis and an 18-hole golf course and lake activities are also available if the calendar gets a little too overwhelming.

All-inclusive rates at Fair Hills Resort start at $250 per night for adults, $141 per night for kids ages 6 to 12 and are free most dates for kids ages 4 and 5. It's always free for kids under 3. A detailed calendar of rates, including specials if booking for seven nights, is available online .

There are few truly all-inclusive properties in the U.S. that participate in major hotel loyalty programs. Thankfully, though, Rawah Ranch is one of them. This luxe guest ranch in Colorado's Laramie River Valley can be booked directly with Hyatt since it's a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Guests stay in a variety of rustic cabins that are cozy, homey and decorated with Western touches like vintage oil lamps, antlers galore and sturdy wood and iron furniture. With a variety of configurations, you can bunk down in a 350-square-foot stand-alone cabin with a king bed, lofted twin and front porch, or opt for adjoining ranch houses that extended families can share but still have some privacy.

During the day, go horseback riding without worrying about packing cowboy boots, as the resort provides them for kids and adults, and build a connection with the horse you're assigned since you'll be riding the same one throughout your stay. You can also spend time at the river fly fishing (a half-day session is included in the rate) or paddleboarding, learning how to shoot clay traps and arrows, or simply get lost in the beauty of it all on a hike.

Each day, guests are treated to three meals of "Colorado Ranch Cuisine," starting with a la carte breakfast, a hearty lunch buffet and a cocktail hour followed by a family-style dinner all crafted by chef Jennifer Sanchez.

A seasonal resort open only from June through September, Rawah Ranch charges $1,700 per night, based on double occupancy, and requires a three-night minimum. World of Hyatt members can book this Category 8 property for between 35,000 and 45,000 points.

At RiverView Ranch, an all-inclusive luxury private ranch in Montana, there are only eight lodge suites to book, making for an intimate experience. Each of the suites has a private deck with a fire pit and views of the ranch's private lake, cozy slippers and robes to relax in, and receives twice-daily housekeeping. Rooms range from a stately king-size suite with a deep soaking tub down to a room with double bunk beds that can sleep up to six.

All on-property experiences are available for no extra charge with the all-inclusive rate — even the more extravagant options like snowmobiling in the winter, jet skiing in the warm months and taking a hoverboard for a glide. But since it's a ranch resort, make time for some horseback riding, going for a trail ride and fishing.

Meals are a magical affair, rotating between the Great Room in the main lodge and barbecues at the lake house and out on the deck. The meals consist of "ranch-to-table" menus that feature Angus prime steak and ribs, fresh fish caught on the lake and even bison with sides of hearty vegetables cultivated on the ranch. And for wine, consult with the house sommelier for the perfect pairings.

Rates at RiverView Ranch start at $13,500 for a minimum three-night stay, based on double occupancy.

Nearly the opposite of a typical all-inclusive resort experience that's heavy on booze and big on entertainment, a stay at Canyon Ranch Tucson is all about finding, reviving and cultivating yourself through wellness practices and lifestyle changes.

Guests are invited to choose between different "pathways," or programs, that guide their experience. These pathways can be simple and laid-back, or extremely regimented, with focuses on weight management, learning and breaking habits and even options that include medical scanning followed by guidance from clinical practitioners to shape the experience.

Scheduled activities include yoga and Pilates, meditation, Aqua Zumba, cardio training, cooking classes and photography hikes. Meals are served at the Canyon Ranch Grill and feature healthy dishes "free of additives and unhealthy extras," like sunflower seed tacos, turmeric cauliflower steak and grass-fed short rib. Grab-and-go options are also available from a cafe.

At the end of a busy day centering yourself, crash into a room or suite with Mascioni Italian linens and a personally selected pillow from a menu with over 20 options.

Outside the room, enjoy three outdoor pools plus an indoor one, a spa, multiple fitness centers and 150 acres of outdoor space to explore.

Rates at Canyon Ranch Tucson start around $2,000 per night, based on double occupancy.

At Red Mountain Resort, adventure activities are the name of the game — and Zion and Bryce Canyon national parks are the stars of the show. Guests can choose between a number of packages that include three meals each day, guided hikes, fitness classes like yoga and Pilates and activities like nature walks and bike tours. One package even includes a guided trip to Zion National Park with a packed lunch.

Would-be adventurers stay in cozy rooms with king or double beds, a large writing desk and a deep bathtub to soak in after a long day of hiking. For more space, book a villa with a fireplace, balcony or deck. Pets are even welcome in select rooms.

Healthy meals, like sesame-crusted ahi tuna and pepita-crusted rack of lamb, are served at the Canyon Breeze restaurant where indoor tables are set up around a double-sided fireplace or out on the patio.

A spa offers treatments inspired by nature , like the Adobe Lavender Hydrating Cocoon, a mud wrap with red clay sourced nearby.

Adventure package rates at Red Mountain Resort start at $600 per night, based on double occupancy.

Ghost towns are supposed to be creepy, right? Not in Dolores, Colorado, where the mining town dating back to the 1800s has been converted into a luxury resort full of life. Individual hand-hewn log cabins, some built by the original miners (the resort claims), plus a luxury tent, are full of Western character and design — as well as ensuite bathrooms and high-speed Wi-Fi.

The hot springs, which range from 85 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit, can be enjoyed in a restored bathhouse, in a number of pools, with water bubbling up directly from the source and in the Well House cabin accommodation. At the spa, aestheticians offer facials while massage therapists can work out knots with a deep-tissue rub.

Seasonal activities include horseback riding, mountain biking and fly fishing in the summer and snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and horse-drawn carriage rides in the winter.

An all-inclusive experience, meals plus alcoholic beverages (except premium drinks) are served at a long table in the old-school saloon. Chefs cook in an open kitchen using ingredients grown on the property to create dishes like roasted Bountiful Ridge pork with charred leek grits and preserved green apricots, for which the suggested pairing is a glass of 2018 Cos Frappato wine from Sicily.

Rates at Dunton Hot Springs start at $1,165 per night, based on double occupancy.

Google will now let you use AI to build travel itineraries for your vacations

google travel all inclusive

As we inch toward the summer holidays, Google is announcing a slate of travel updates that place it squarely in the travel planning process and give it a lot more insight into purchasing intent in the travel sector.

First up, Google is rolling out an update to its  Search Generative Experience (SGE) that will allow users to build travel itineraries and trip ideas using AI, the company announced on Wednesday.

The new capability — currently only available in English in the U.S. to users enrolled in Search Labs , its program that lets users experiment with early-stage Google Search experiences and share feedback — draws on ideas from sites across the web, along with reviews, photos and other details that people have submitted to Google for places around the world.

When users ask for something like “plan me a three day trip to Philadelphia that’s all about history,” they will get a sample itinerary that includes attractions and restaurants, as well as an overview of options for flights and hotels, divided up by times of day.

For now, the itineraries are just that: There are no options to buy services or experiences on the spot. When you’re happy with your itinerary, you can export it to Gmail, Docs or Maps.

Google has not commented on when or if it might roll this out more widely. But it points to how the company is experimenting with how and where it can apply its AI engine. A lot of players in the travel industry may be eyeing up the role that generative AI will play in travel services in the coming years — some excitedly, some warily. But even now, startups like Mindtrip and Layla , which provide users with access to AI assistants that are designed to help you plan your trips, are already actively pursuing this.

But with this new update, Google is taking on startups like these while also gathering data about travel purchasing intent (useful for its wider ad business) and learning what kind of appetite its users might have for such services.

Google also announced that it’s making it easier to discover lists of recommendations in Google Maps in select cities in the U.S. and Canada. If you search for a city in Maps, you will now see lists of recommendations for places to go from publishers like The Infatuation, as well as from other users. You will also see curated lists of top, trending, and hidden gem restaurants in 40+ U.S. cities.

Finally, the company is adding new tools to help you customize lists you create, so you can better organize your travel plans or share your favorite spots with your friends and family. You can choose the order the places appear in a list so you can organize them by top favorites or chronologically like an itinerary. Plus, you can link to content from your social channels.
