Weather at the start/finish city of Stavanger at 1:55 PM, local time: 12C (54F), cloudy, with the wind from the northwest at 19 km/hr (12 mph). There is a 15% chance of rain.

The race: Stage three's neutralized start was at 11:55 AM. There were three non-starters: Georg Steinhauser (EF Education-EasyPost), Alexander Richardson & Jack Rootkin-Gray (both St. Piran). That left 109 starters. Late in the stage Shane Archbold (Bora-hansgrohe) abandoned.

Here's the report from second-place Tobias Lund Andresen's Team DSM:

Monday’s final day of racing at the Tour of Norway saw the peloton take on a 151 kilometre route, starting and finishing in the town of Stavanger. It was a fast start to the day with lots of attacks before a nine rider group eventually snapped the elastic and went clear. With all Team DSM riders in the peloton, focus remained on staying safe and saving energy for the finish circuit which included a short but punchy climb.

Working well as a group, the team stayed well positioned and kept fast finisher Tobias Lund Andresen safe ahead of the last lap, where the break was caught. On the climb, Lund Andresen managed to follow the best and things regrouped somewhat at the front, with the bunch charging towards a sprint finish in Stavanger. It was a fast and nervous finale but the young Dane navigated the twisting roads well and could sprint from a great spot. Giving his all to the line, he was just bested from Kristoff, taking another strong second place finish.

The Tour of Norway's final stage gets started.

With no major shakeups in the overall standings, Marco Brenner ended the race in tenth place on GC for the team – his first top ten in the overall classification, with Lorenzo Milesi not far behind in 13th – which was also his first top 15 in the GC standings as a pro.

Speaking after the stage Lund Andresen said: “Today there was a lot of panic in the peloton because of the snaking roads, so there could be echelons at any time. We were always together as a group and the guys kept me safe. On the laps it was crazy with all that road furniture, but the boys tried to stay as close to me as possible and keep me towards the front. I felt really good so I was joining the jumping on the climb in the last couple of laps and could was well positioned. In the sprint, Kristoff was just a little bit faster and it was a close second place for the second time in three days in the end.”

Weather at the finish city of Stavanger at 1:50 PM, local time: 12C (55F), partly cloudy, with the wind from the northwest at 26 km/hr (17 mph). There is just a 1% chance of rain.

The race: Here's the report from GC leader Ben Tulett's Team INEOS Grenadiers.

Ben Tulett extended his race lead at the Tour of Norway with third place in the uphill sprint on stage two.

The young Brit clawed back key ground in the final kilometres and timed his effort well on the ramp to the line in Stavanger, taking third place and four bonus seconds. Thibau Nys (Trek-Segafredo) won the stage to claim his first pro victory.

The result saw Tulett's overall lead extend out to a still slender five seconds over team-mate Magnus Sheffield. Sheffield hit out early in the sprint and placed eighth, to make sure of a Grenadiers 1-2 heading into Monday's finale.

Once again the team worked well to help control the race and breakaway at times, including over the snow-lined Knuttjørn pass.

Ben Tulett: "It was really tough to be honest. We had a fight on our hands from the beginning to control the breakaway and make sure we were happy with the situation.

"We had a really difficult mountain pass which was also quite cold, but beautiful. It was really nice to see that. Then obviously a super difficult final to this stage. I was actually out of position coming into the final couple of kilometres so I had work to do to get back into position. I’m really happy to come away with third place today. Another day done.

"Here there are no easy days. We have to be up for it and for sure we’re motivated to finish this off in a good way."

Weather at the finish city of Hovden at 1:45 PM, local time: 8C (47F), cloudy, with the wind from the southwest at 16 km/hr (10 mph). There is a 16% chance of rain.

The race: Bad weather forced the race organizer to shorten the stage from the planned 206 kilometers to 82.5 km.

Due to adverse weather conditions with freezing temperatures and heavy rain, today’s Tour of Norway stage was shortened to 85 kilometres and instead started in Røldal. Climbing from the flag drop, it was an intense day in the saddle with several attacks and a strong pace set in the peloton; becoming more a race of attrition. No group was able to build up a substantial lead and heading onto the shorter but steeper second climb Lorenzo Milesi put in a strong attack which caused a reaction in the peloton, thinning out the group even more.

Well represented in the reduced peloton with five riders, Team DSM rode cohesively as a unit on the tough parcours and under grizzly weather conditions but the day seemed destined to come down to a reduced group sprint. On the slight descent before the kick up to the line the bunch was strung out through some wet and sharp corners, with Tobias Lund Andresen moving up well and following the wheels. Coming out and delivering a strong kick, he almost made it past everyone on the drag to the line with only one rider managing to hold off the fast-finishing Dane who took a very respectable second place on the stage.

“Today was super short and intense,” explained Lund Andresen. “We started straight into a long climb with attacks from the bottom and later there was a hard but controlled pace. After the first climb we came together and entered the steep one in a good place. Lorenzo went for a strong attack which put on a high pace, making a big split in the peloton with only a couple of fast guys left in the group, including myself. The finish was super hectic with wet sharp corners and in the end I had really good legs, but just not enough metres in the end to come around for the win.”

Weather at the the race city of Bergen at 2:35 PM, local time: 11C (51F), mostly cloudy, with the wind from the west at 14 km/hr (9mph). There is an 80% chance of rain.

The race: Here's the report from stage winner and GC leader Ben Tulett's Team INEOS Grenadiers

Ben Tulett got the Tour of Norway off to the best possible start with victory in the opening time trial prologue, leading home a Grenadiers 1-2 finish.

The Brit blitzed the final climb to take victory with a time of 14 minutes and 28 seconds, crossing the line just one second ahead of team-mate Magnus Sheffield.

That was enough to move him into the early race lead, with three more stages to race ahead of the finish on Monday.

Five Grenadiers placed inside the top 20 times on the day in what was a strong and consistent start to the race. Josh Tarling (17th), Connor Swift (19th), Leo Hayter (20th) and Luke Plapp (47th) rounded out the results on a good opening day.

Ben Tulett: "We knew it was going to make for a really hard time trial today. Of course it meant that the execution was really crucial. We came yesterday to look at the course and we identified pretty quickly that it was going to be really tough. We knew we were in for a fight today but I’m happy with my performance so far.

"It’s something different to do it on road bikes but quite fun. It looks like it’s going to be a hard week of racing.

"I didn’t really know [what to expect]. I just went out there and tried to do my best to see where I ended up. There are some really strong time trialists here like Magnus who are super strong. I knew I was in for a hard fight but we’ll see where I end up.

"We’re definitely motivated for this race and all excited and up for it."

Prevailed in three-man playoff at Lakewood National Golf Club

Change Text Size

Sweden’s Tim Widing earned his first Korn Ferry Tour title Sunday at the LECOM Suncoast Classic, winning a three-man playoff with a par on the second extra hole at Lakewood National Golf Club’s Commander course in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

The victory moves Widing from No. 23 to No. 2 on the season-long Korn Ferry Tour Points List through eight of 26 events. The top 30 after the season-ending Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance will earn 2025 PGA TOUR membership.

“I'm speechless,” Widing said afterward. “It's something I've practiced for every day and something you dream of, and for it to finally happen. … It's a relief to finally pull it off. You keep telling yourself that you're very close, but winning golf tournaments is really tough and I'm just so happy I was able to pull it off. This is incredible.”

Widing completed 72 holes at 20-under 264, tied with Patrick Cover and Steven Fisk, who was looking for a second straight victory after winning the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club earlier this month.

Cover was eliminated with a bogey on the first playoff hole, the par-4 18th, as Widing and Fisk made par. Widing got up-and-down from just left of the green, while Fisk two-putted from 13 feet. Fisk found trouble off the tee at the second extra hole, again No. 18, as he missed the fairway to the right off the tee, played his second shot to short-right of the green, pitched to 15 feet and couldn’t convert for par. Widing found the fairway and green in regulation and two-putted for the winning par.

Widing becomes the eighth consecutive first-time winner to begin the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour season, which is the second-longest streak in Tour history (10 in 2002). This was also the fifth consecutive Korn Ferry Tour event to require a playoff, the longest such streak in the circuit’s history.

Widing, 26, finished No. 46 on last year’s Korn Ferry Tour Points List as a rookie, notching eight top 25s in 25 starts, his season highlighted by a T3 at the Astara Chile Classic presented by Scotiabank and a pair of T4s in a three-event summertime stretch. After concluding the season with three missed cuts in four starts, he retooled during his first offseason as a Korn Ferry Tour member and came out firing in 2024.

“As a rookie, you want to learn as much as possible,” Widing said. “Had those stretches in the middle of the summer where you play like seven weeks in a row. I feel like that was too much golf for me, I was trying to chase it a little bit too much. This year, knowing I have my full card, being able to schedule a little bit better and take a few tournaments off has been very helpful.

“That's probably the biggest difference, just knowing what's ahead of me and probably learn from the mistakes I did last year.”

The Swede arrived at the LECOM at No. 23 on the season-long Points List in a steady campaign that included five top-26 finishes in his first seven starts. With no finish better than eighth, though, he was waiting for things to come together. They did just that at Lakewood National, where he carded rounds of 67-64-67-66 – including three birdies in his last six holes Sunday – to earn a spot in the playoff. Then he took advantage.

Widing turned pro in 2021 after a successful college career at the University of San Francisco, which included honorable mention All-American honors as a senior in 2019-20. He competed on the 2022 PGA TOUR Latinoamerica, finishing No. 33 on the season-long Totalplay Cup, and he earned Korn Ferry Tour status via Q-School, securing guaranteed starts with a T29 at Final Stage.

Widing has maintained a close relationship with fellow Swede Ludvig Åberg, with whom he attended high school (at Filbornaskolan, a sports-focused boarding school outside Helsingborg, Sweden). Åberg has quickly ascended in the professional golf ranks after finishing atop the 2023 PGA TOUR University Ranking, winning The RSM Classic last fall and finishing runner-up at last week’s Masters Tournament.

After a dramatic victory in Florida, Widing looks poised to join his countryman on TOUR next season.

“He’s unbelievable,” Widing said. “It's been fun watching him in college and what he's doing right now. It just doesn't seem to faze him, all the pressure. He's top 10 and almost winning every week.

“I think Sweden's got a very bright future ahead and I'd love to be part of that. Trying to follow his footsteps and hopefully I'll be on the PGA TOUR with him next year.”

Tour of Norway 2023 changes to be a 4-days race

In 2023, the race will be arranged from may 26th-29th..

”The cost of organizing cycling races has increased quite a bit in recent years. To ensure that we can continue with a strong international setup, we have taken the decision to reduce the number of race days , why the race from now on will be on four days. This is the only way, we can continue to be an economically sustainable event”, says Roy Hegreberg , Event Director at Tour of Norway.

Despite the race going from six to four days, Roy Hegreberg ensures that the race will be eventful.

“We are sure that Tour of Norway 2023 will be very entertaining. Tour of Norway is still guaranteed participation from the best teams in the world, and as late as in 2021, we saw that it is possible to make an exciting race with this set-up. ”

In 2023, Tour of Norway starts with a folk festival in Bergen, where the riders will try themself at Fløyen for the first time since the World Championships in 2017.

The course and participating teams will be announced later.

henning larsen celebrates winning 'kontrapunkt' arts center for bergen, norway

A state-of-the-art concert hall for bergen.

Henning Larsen Architects is announced winner of an international design competition for the Grieg Quarter, a new arts center in Bergen, Norway . The winning proposal, titled Kontrapunkt, promises a state-of-the-art concert hall that integrates with the existing fabric of the city. The Grieg Quarter competition attracted a strong field of 32 participants, with five finalists shortlisted. Among the competing teams were renowned names like Kengo Kuma & Associates , MAD Architects , Snøhetta , and Zaha Hadid Architects . Construction of Grieg Quarter is expected to be completed in 2030.

henning larsen to revive bergen’s grieg quarter

With its Kontrapunkt proposal, Henning Larsen envisions a 24,000-square-meter music and conference center bordering Bergen’s historic center. It will house a theater with an orchestra pit, an exhibition venue, a cafe, and multipurpose rehearsal spaces. Importantly, the design also includes a revival of the surrounding Edward Grieg Square.

The Grieg Quarter will serve as an extension to the existing Grieg Hall, originally designed by Danish architect Knud Munk. This collaborative effort aims to elevate Bergen’s artistic identity while preserving the existing building’s character. It embodies the growing trend of urban centers investing in cultural infrastructure to enhance their appeal and fuel progress.

inside the proposed kontrapunkt arts center

Henning Larsen’s new Kontrapunkt concert hall is designed to prioritize the visitor experience. The proposal encourages exploration and fosters a sense of connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. It will accommodate over 1,150 spectators, with additional seating extending over the orchestra pit.

Spread over 3,570 square meters, new exhibition areas will be nestled beneath Edward Grieg’s Square, providing a platform for cultural exploration and interaction. The foyer will integrate into the urban fabric, offering dual access points — from the existing Grieg Hall entrance and a new entryway from the square. A welcoming cafe with a sheltered outdoor space will add to the inviting atmosphere along Strømgaten.

Adjacent to the common areas, a versatile rehearsal room will offer a variety of functions. This space can transform from a rehearsal venue to a space for performances, conferences, and events. Mirroring the dimensions of the main stage, it will seat 140 guests and feature a retractable amphitheater.

Drawing inspiration from Bergen’s proximity to mountains and water, the Grieg Quarter’s outdoor square will feature local flora and a water management plan designed to support the ecosystem and provide a welcoming space for visitors.

‘ Our design focuses on creating a vibrant new urban space with diverse uses ,’ says Eva Bergsodden, Division Manager Landscape and landscape architect for Henning Larsen Norway. ‘ It will combine daily life with opportunities for outdoor dining and cultural gatherings .’

‘ We are honored to have won this prestigious competition ,’ says Kasper Kyndesen, Partner and Design Director for Henning Larsen Norway. ‘ Grieg Quarter will solidify Bergen’s position as a modern and ambitious cultural hub. By creating a welcoming space for both familiar and new experiences, the arts center will unlock immense cultural potential for the city .’

the concert hall will accommodate over 1,150 spectators

Tour de Romandie: Godon and Vendrame go 1-2 for Decathlon AG2R on stage 1

Gianni Vermeersch takes final podium spot in hectic sprint finish

Dorian Godon (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) wove his way through the slim gaps in the final metres of bunch kick with savvy bike handling skills and then carried his sprint across the finish line to win stage 1 and take the overall leader's jersey at the Tour de Romandie .

It was a 1-2 for Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale as Andrea Vendrame followed Godon across the line in second place, while Gianni Vermeersch (Alpecin-Deceuninck) finished in third place.

Godon, who finished fourth in the previous day's prologue, started the day just a fraction of a second down in the overall classification. He now leads the race six seconds ahead of Vermeersch and nine seconds ahead of Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-QuickStep).

How it unfolded

Following the prologue, the Tour de Romandie's first stage was a 165.7km race between Château d'Oex and Fribourg. The lumpy stage included six categorised climbs, a downhill, and a 5km flat run-in to the finish line.

The peloton crested the Sorens (4.2km at 7.5%) before entering the main circuit of the day, which included climbs Arconciel (1.8km at 7.3%) and Lorette (700m at 12.7%). These two ascents were repeated, and then the peloton tackled one last climb over Arconciel before finishing in Fribourg.

Six riders formed a breakaway in the opening kilometres of the stage that included Fausto Masnada (Soudal-QuickStep), Juri Hollmann (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Patrick Gamper (Bora-Hansgrohe), Raúl García Pierna (Arkéa-B&B Hotels), Rune Herregodts (Intermarché-Wanty) and Joey Rosskopf (Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team).

Tudor Pro Cycling Team quickly pushed to the front of the peloton to manage the gap and protect their prologue winner and overall race leader Maikel Zijlaard.

In the breakaway, Rosskopf picked up the early sprint points in Corbieres while Hollman collected maximum mountain points on the next four categorised ascents as they pushed their gap out to four minutes.

Movistar and EF Education-EasyPost took the reins at the head of the peloton in an attempt to slowly bring the gap down to under two minutes with 30km remaining.

David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ), Jan Christen (UAE Team Emirates) and Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost) attempted a short-lived chase, but the trio were brought back into the fold by a Visma-Lease a Bike-led peloton.

Rosskopf secured the points at the final intermediate sprint before the gap between the breakaway and the field plummetted to 50 seconds in the last 20km and down to just 30 seconds with 15km to go.

Movistar led the field into the final kilometres of the race into the final climb of the Arconciel, 1.8km at 7.3%. But Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal-QuickStep) made good on a pre-race promise to attack on this ascent, launching out of the field on the upper slopes.

Although the Frenchman didn't gain much of a gap, the move shut down the fading breakaway as the dwindled field of about 40 riders raced over the top.

Alaphilippe attacked again inside 7km, setting off a flurry of counter moves on the run-in to the finish line. Andreas Kron (Lotto-Dstny) and Jan Tratnik (Visma-Lease a Bike) tried late-race fliers, but Movistar held the field together into the last kilometres.

Patrick Gamper (Bora-Hansgrohe) attacked out of the field on the far left side of the road with 2km to go, but he perhaps lacked the punch needed to maintain a gap after being in the breakaway all day.

Lidl-Trek, Visma-Lease a Bike, Soudal-QuickStep, and Decathlon AG2R emerged at the front of the field in their respective lead-outs.

Waiting for an opening along the final straightaway, Godon slipped through a gap, unleashed his sprint, and carried on through the finish line to take the win, with his teammate Vendrame on his wheel to take second place.
