TRAVELLED TO VIETNAM

Andrew & Julie-Ann (NSW 2024)

From the very beginning of booking with Oasis Travel the process was seamless. The app was a great and referred to frequently. In the north we were with Kien (our guide) Tuan (our driver) and they couldn’t have done anything more. Kien went over and above, he was extremely knowledgeable and the great gift of understanding his audience. It was great getting off the beaten track and wandering through the villages. One of the highlights was the overnight train trip from Lao Cai to Hanoi. Heading south we met Hung in Da Nang. Totally different guide and perfect for the Hoi An. We had a great day out cycling through rice fields that included eating the rice noddles we made for lunch. The Sampan on the Mekong Delta was an amazing 24 hours and would recommend it over and above Halong Bay which is beautiful but everywhere you turn there’s another tourist boat. Ngoc Tran from Victoria Cruises is worth a special mention, along with the rest of the crew that looked after us. We would have brought her home if we could. The only disappointment was Topas Eco Lodge. Location and accommodation were beautiful, the food left a lot to be desired. It has much more of a big hotel feel and the staff are lovely but felt void of personality or ability to make any decisions on their own. This is the first time (except for Africa 2008) that I’ve booked an organized trip through an agent. It was a great way to get the most out of a new destination.

TRAVELLED TO BORNEO

Rod & Robyn (SA 2024)

The trip went very well, organization was faultless.  Our guide and driver in KL were both great and we enjoyed our time there. We especially liked the food tour of the markets and stalls.

All went well at Sepilok. Our view of the Proboscis monkeys was in the pouring rain , but the monkeys didn’t seem to mind and we were under cover. Sun Bear and Orangutans all easy to access.

Sukau Lodge lived up to our expectations.  The welcoming arrangements and briefing of activities were thorough and informative. The lodge was very well organized and the staff in the lodge were very obliging and happy to go out of their way to make the stay special. We were lucky enough to see the elephants feeding at the edge of the river,  as well as many birds and monkeys. The night boat trips were also a lot of fun.

Danum Valley is an amazing place and we are very glad we made the effort to get there. It has been on our “list ” for a while. We saw some wonderful wildlife and birds – orangutan, the argus ( Borneo peacock), civets and deer on a night drive, and many very cheeky macaques.

Thank you for all your organisation and patience in answering all our questions. . We were very happy with the way the trip was planned and would not hesitate to recommend Oasis travel and yourself to others. We have some comments about BRL FYI but do not see this as a reflection on your organisation in any way.

TRAVELLED TO PATAGONIA

Annie & Tracey (WA 2024)

Omg! What a brilliant trip. So well organised. Driving in Argentina very entertaining! The only think we would do differently would be an extra day in Calafate and one day less in el Chalten. Top hotel was Peninsular Petit. Just like staying in a postcard. Wonderful breakfast and their evening meals lovely. Private beach lake to swim gorgeous Great service there. Tours great especially the walking food tour in Buenos Aries. A great sample of the huge variety of terrain in Argentina. Iguazu amazing. A must to see both sides and go on the jet boat under the falls. Thanks for your great organising. So nice to be collected at airports. What a fabulous country.

TRAVELLED TO SOUTH AMERICA

Jackie & Chris (TAS 2024)

We had a great time. The Antarctic was everything I had hoped and the ship, the Greg Mortimer, was terrific. We crossed the Antarctic Circle at midnight on New Year’s Eve which was quite special. Patagonia was wonderful…….I’ve finally found somewhere that is windier than Tasmania????. Actually we did have quite good weather although had to postpone the Grey Lake boat trip until the next day as it was cancelled due to wind. But that didn’t matter at all.

Driving was very easy and Chris did a great job. He managed to miss most of the potholes and we had no probs with the car. It wasn’t a 4×4 but a Cherry SUV. Didn’t matter much except I guess we could have gone faster in the other one and it would have been more robust. The bus ride was interesting from El Calafate and wasn’t onerous at all.

Highlight for Patagonia was the horse ride we did at Hotel Las Torres and the Perito Moreno tour. They were fabulous. Also loved the food tour and Tango show in BA. All transfers were perfect and all the tour people were excellent. It was a great trip and we had a wonderful time.

Yulia & family (NSW 2024)

The entire experience was nothing short of extraordinary. We are very grateful for your meticulous planning and thoughtful consideration that went into every aspect of our trip. The days were planned extremely well, the guides were great, vehicles very comfortable and air conditioned (much appreciated in 35-38 degrees!). Every activity from the city tours to the cooking classes was enjoyable despite the very hot and humid weather which was quite unusual for mid April.

I’m very grateful that you suggested that we visit Vietnam – beautiful country and lovely people.

Thank you very much once again for your work and knowledge, I would not hesitate to recommend Oasis to all my friends.

All the best and I’ll be in touch to organize our next holiday one day (hopefully sooner rather than later 🙂

Thank you for organising the trip – it was great.

TRAVELLED TO ARGENTINA

Carol & Paul (NSW 2024)

Our Argentina trip went very well, with no hiccups in any aspect of the organisation. We were particularly impressed with the internal air flights, airport pickups, drivers being on time, and the excellent tours: a half-day tour of Buenos Aires, the full day wine tour in Mendoza, and Iguazú Falls. The standard of guides was excellent, with a particular shout-out to Beatrix at Iguazú: one of the best guides we have ever had. The weather throughout the two weeks was sunny and hot – so we felt very lucky.

We’d have to say that the hotel change in Mendoza worked out the best for us, as it was a bit more up-market, in a central location, and had good facilities and breakfast. Selva Lodge at Iguazú was also very good, if a little out of town when looking for restaurants or other activities.

Overall, Ed, we really enjoyed our first taste of Argentina, and are particularly appreciative of your efforts on our behalf, your excellent organisation, and your up-to-date communication with us as things changed. We would use Oasis Travel again to see central Argentina and Patagonia, and also other countries in South America.

Rachel & Edward (SA 2024)

Thank you, we are now in Italy enjoying our more relaxed time here after our very busy (but great) schedule in South America.

Firstly, everything went smoothly, we had no issues with transfers not turning up or hotels not expecting us, everything went per the plan and there were no avoidable hiccups thank you. It was stress free and well organised.

In terms of highlights and lowlights, for us the best parts were in Patagonia & Argentina. We loved Torres del Paine and were lucky enough to have a perfect day hiking Las Torres and because you had booked us into the perfect spot – Hotel Las Torres – it meant we had an early start to our walk and therefore did not encounter large groups of people, we were well on our way down as the day trippers were heading up. I also enjoyed that you booked us on the other side of the park (beautiful drive) for a couple of nights but the hotel there (Hotel del Paine) was a little bit rough around the edges – our window pane was cracked edge to edge and the facilities were very basic – but the food was great (as it was at Las Torres).

We also loved Bariloche – the hotel there was our favourite – (Hotel Peninsula Petit) – so perfect on the lake and the food there and hosts were fantastic.

Having our own car in these two regions also worked really well, the driving was easy and it gave us the sort of freedom we like when travelling.

The biggest (happy) surprise for me was the Perito Moreno glacier. I had never seen a glacier before and our trip there was fantastic. The hotel in El Calafate was ok but it was 4kms out of town with nothing else around, so a location in El Calafate would have been better.

Buenos Aires was terrific, we loved the Palermo neighborhood where we had a great night out, and the hotel was very nice in Recoleta.

The lowlight of the trip for us was Bogota and our trip to Villa de Leyva. The tour of Bogata was fine – the gold museum was very interesting as I am interested in Indigenous cultures/history and the cable car to Monserrate was fine – great view – and our hotel was very nice. However, on the whole Bogata as a city did not excite us. Whilst Villa de Leyva itself was a very lovely perfectly preserved town – it was like we had stepped into southern Spain rather than Colombia. In hindsight I think maybe for us the coffee region or Medellin would have suited us better. However Cartagena was awesome – full of Carribean colour and music and we took a day trip to the Rosario Islands which was relaxing and it was nice to cool off at the beach. Again the hotel here was lovely – although the rooms all connected to each other via internal vent – so not very soundproof!

Costa Rica was good, Arenal was really nice, the day tour with the 3 activities was excellent – my favourite tour of the trip. The hotel was also excellent, we spent a day by the pool there which we never do, but we needed a day off and the surroundings were so nice. Tortaguera was a surprise – we had no idea it was so remote and we were shocked at the light plane airstrip to get out – but it was an adventure! It was 1 day too long, 3 days 2 nights would have been plenty, as you are very confined to the resort or the town. The canal wildlife trip was great and we saw lots of wildlife (including sloths and of course lots of monkeys) just around the hotel. Manuel Antonio was great – nice to see the Pacific side and the beaches were good, apart from the tour of the park we mainly spent our time at the beach. The biggest surprise here was how long it took to get there and back from San Jose, it was 5 hours both ways, despite being less than 200kms.

The only other place I didn’t mention was Santiago. The wine tour was terrific, both wineries were very enjoyable. The full day tour of Santiago was not that great. The guide did his best, but there are just not enough things to see in Santiago to fill in a full day, a half day tour would have been much better. The hotel location was perfect, nice restaurants etc in walking distance, but basic.

Therefore we had a lovely time. You did a great job with the hotels/tours in general, I appreciate we had a budget therefore you were balancing out where to spend more/less and I think you got it right most of the time as the locations were all spot on except for El Calafate.

Thanks for your help planning a wonderful trip

TRAVELLED TO VIETNAM & CAMBODIA

Jo-Anne & Colin (ACT 2024)

Thank you for organising a hassle free sensational Vietnam / Cambodia holiday for us . The airport transfers were a breeze, accommodation fantastic (must say the Hue AnHill Boutique was our favourite). The Hoi An street food tour was excellent (he asked me to thanks you for choosing his company). Everything was great.

Marilyn & Jan (SA 2023)

There is only one word to describe our trip…..WOW! Every day it was a new version of WOW. It seems such a small word to describe the magnitude of the experiences we have had. From the accommodation and tours to the sense of safety and security knowing that it was all going to work well….. and it did! What a beautiful part of the world. Thank you so very much for all your organisational skills.

We are now safely back home …… planning the next adventure. Stay tuned!

TRAVELLED TO MOROCCO

Leanne (QLD 2023)

Thank you for putting together a fantastic itinerary. It went perfectly without any problems. I must admit I was a bit hesitant as it was last minute, we seemed to book with haste, and we hadn’t used travel agents before, but it went better than ever expected. Kahmal, the driver, picked us up from Casablanca as planned, and it was smooth sailing from then on.

The driver was fantastic. Kahmal had water for us at each stop; he took care of us and looked after us as if we were his personal guests. I would recommend Kamal as the driver for all from that company. The day tour to Meknes and wine tasting in Chateau Roslane was fantastic and we were so glad it could be arranged. We didn’t realise it was Islamic new Year’s Day so there were not many people but the guide at the Chateau still took us through cellar storage and production. Our time ended in Marrakesh, our driver was still attentive until we got to the airport and I think we were all a bit sad the trip had come to an end.

The wifi in the car was incredible and allowed up to look up places we were travelling past, monuments we had seen with the guides, and more history of the location. We had booked a riad called Tarabel ourselves and it was beautiful. The staff were incredible. It might be more expensive than others but it was a great location and service to end the trip if others enquire about it. Apparently it has not been affected in the recent earthquake and is intact. We knew it would be hot and without the driver and the arranged yours, we would not have achieved to see and travel as much. The itinerary was perfect for us and to make it work last minute was fantastic

Judi & Geoff (2023)

We have just returned and a big thanks for our wonderful holiday. We had a totally stress free holiday with soooo many adventures that we loved. I particularly loved the Mekong Delta, the Hanoi streets and the foodie tour in Hoi An with a guy named Phuc was so authentic as he was born in one of the laneways we visited. All the guides were fantastic. The hotels were amazing. The only one I would change was the one in Bangkok- we loved the hotel but would have perhaps liked to be closer to China town. We are already thinking about another trip and I have referred you to a couple of friends. The anxiety was definitely taken out of the holiday. I’m thinking Borneo next as I’ve always wanted to see the orangutans.

TRAVELLED TO BRAZIL & ARGENTINA

Richard & Di (2023)

So what can I say everything that you organised for us was fantastic all the tours and transport your secured for us was great everything ran smoothly. The tour guides and tour in Rio, Iguazu and Buenos Aires were first class and very informative as was Panama. If I was to complain about anything it was the tour guide we had in Panama showed up with the flu or Covid that we didn’t want so I pulled him aside early on and asked if he thought it was appropriate for him to continue the tour as he was obviously crook and he told me it was fine he would wear a mask. We also had the lovely lady that met us at the airport at Buenos Aires send a message next morning to say she was not feeling well so substituted her friend to do the tour and she was great and was very appreciated by us. Also the people that oversaw our time in Argentina were fantastic they contacted me on arrival and answered a few questions I had very responsive. Our Brangus Congress was also great it but was full on 5am starts midnight finish most days. So we appreciated our rest time in Jamaica. The accommodation and locations you selected were perfect. We feel we got a good feel for all the places we visited. So thank you we are glad we found you. We are planning to attend the congress again in two years in Brazil. So you won’t get rid of us just yet. Thanks so much again

TRAVELLED TO BALKANS

Jane & Geoff (2023)

I just wanted to say thank you for all your help organising our trip. It was perfect and everything you organised went very smoothly. I can particularly recommend the Balkan section of drivers and guides. They were all delightful, helpful and knowledgeable. Hopefully we can organise another trip soonish.

SELF DRIVE TO CHILE & ARGENTINA

Andrew & Sarah (2023)

SO THE TRIP ! amazing , loved Chilé, the landscape , the people , the food , the wine , everything! We were incredibly lucky with the weather , hardly any rain and most days were cool at first and then sunny -perfect days .Driving was fine , the Carretera Austral got down to single track dirt road and once I decided to pull over for all approaching traffic ( particularly at night ) it was no problem. The Patagonia roads were fine although Bariloche traffic over Easter was crazy ! We loved the peace and wildness of the lake General carrera area , and hotel terra Luna was a great sanctuary after all the travelling we’d done .the area was definitely a highlight. So other highlights – Lago todos los santos boat trip ( with the Chilean tourists over Easter Friday ) , in fact all the boat trips with the locals were great ( I like people watching and the lakes and mountains were stunning – yes perfect time of year with the autumn colours ) .

Loved San Martin , great boutique hotel and found the first large / old Aracarias in Lanin national park . Loved all the volcanoes wereever we went . Discovered pisco sours ! Hotel Nothofagus is ridiculous and personally too touristy and gimmicky ( western fairies ripping off the local myths ) but kitchen staff very helpful as our stomachs were in trouble at that point ( our own mishandling of picnic food ) . I’m not also sure I like the Huilo Huilo model – too tourist focused and gimmicky .( I’m influenced by working in the field ) . Biggest highlight I think was conguillo NP , volcanic , wild and the Aracaria were wonderful , I think you suggested staying 3 days – you were right ! I wish we’d seen more monkey puzzle environments- next time ! And the Atacama – certainly a contrast .

We were very glad not to be there in high season , as San Pedro is definitely a tourist town . The sites all seemed busy but this didn’t spoil the experience. All guides were very good, and we signed up for an extra trip to the rainbow valley and some nearby petroglyphs which was perhaps our favourite trip . All were good and it is an extraordinary place . Thanks again for all your help ,

Anne & Paul (2023)

Hi Ed first email to answer some of your questions. Hard to pick one highlight but for both of us the cruise really stood out – as being absolutely spectacular along with sensational food and excellent service. Close behind was the lake crossing from puerto varas to bariloche, camp patagonia and the estancia / asado at calafate. The weather was superb, a great time of the year to go and we were rewarded with snow at Cape horn and ushuaia. Patagonia is not only magnificent but also very diverse! Some photos to follow and more details over the coming days! Thanks again

Nicki & Peter (2023)

Overall, the holiday was sensational. Our favourites were Selingan Island and the Kinabatangan River.

Kota Kinabalu was pretty uninspiring and if I were doing it again, I would have gone straight to Gaya Island and had the extra night there, although the KK sunset was pretty incredible! The snorkelling from Gaya was fabulous. An excellent day. In Sepilok, because we arrived so early after Air Asia mucked our flights up, we accidentally discovered the proboscis monkey sanctuary, which turned out to be a great experience.

We felt doubling back on Sepilok and repeating the orang-utans was not the best use of time, especially as we saw them in the wild, but I’m not sure how you’d tweak that part.

Danum Valley accommodation was amazing but it’s not a great drive to get there and the wildlife was disappointing compared with the river experience. The one exception was the appearance of a flange male actually in the lodge. I had stayed behind from the burial site trek and was very glad I did!

Borneo is a fantastic place for any nature-lover and we are still raving about the trip. We saw a lot and we were escorted from place to place without incident, which is pretty remarkable given the distances we travelled.

Thank you for helping us make our dream holiday a reality.

Robyn & Greg (2022)

We are about to embark today on the Plancius, it came into the harbour last night & the seas are calm at this stage. We have had a wonderful time in both Chile & Argentina, hotels, guides all fantastic, these two countries stand alone & are difficult to compare to anything we have seen before. Thanks for all of the planning will give you a call when we get home.

TRAVELLED TO PERU, ECUADOR & THE GALAPAGOS

Wendy, Lisa, Janice & Carmel (2022)

Just wanted to say a huge thank you. This years holiday has been 4 to 5 years in the making, it was to be a 5 year celebration and reunion of our 2015 trip. Unfortunately Covid delayed it by 2 years! But we were there, we achieved it and basked in the perfection of it all. Thanks heaps. The Beluga was yet another thank you moment. The fact that we were in the Galápagos Islands was surreal but to be experiencing it as a guest on board the Beluga was sheer magic. The crew were fabulous the meals were fabulous and the islands were unique and very special. It was so hard to say which accommodation was our favourite until we arrived at Hacienda San Agustin de Callo circa 1440. This was the most amazing accommodation any of us have ever experienced, we would have happily stayed forever. No exaggeration! We had our very own 3 bedroom cottage with open fireplaces in all rooms, we got to eat amazing meals in the Inca dining room and snuggle up in the lounge with Lady, the well loved Labrador. We revelled in our Llama welcome along with the other guests while feeling that to our host Gabriel we were the only guests! Such an amazing manager.

So thank you Ed and thank you Nick for all your efforts in organising what was another unforgettable and once in a lifetime trip!

Francine (NSW 2022)

Thank you for organising our trip to Morocco. It was wonderful and everything went smoothly. The only thing I would change was to have 2 nights at the Kam Kam safari camp.

Looking forward to booking with Oasis Travel in the future

Wendy & friends (NSW 2022)

Just wanted to say a huge thank you. This years holiday has been 4 to 5 years in the making, it was to be a 5 year celebration and reunion of our 2015 trip. Unfortunately Covid delayed it by 2 years! But we were there, we achieved it and basked in the perfection of it all. Thanks heaps

Let’s start with our accommodation, Villa Barranco in Lima, stunning, beautiful restored 1920’s home lovingly restored to a 9 bedroom hotel only 5 years ago and our hosts Julio and Frank were so helpful and very charming. Gocta Lodge, what a location, stunning vista of the falls, manicured grounds complete with resident llamas and hummingbirds, I don’t think there would be a person anywhere that could not help but feel totally relaxed here. Hotel Kentitambo in Leymebamba, words can’t describe the essence of this hotel. Picture perfect grounds with an abundance of flowers and even more hummingbirds! The meals were amazing, we quickly realised that we wouldn’t be losing any weight on this trip.

The Beluga was yet another thank you moment. The fact that we were in the Galápagos Islands was surreal but to be experiencing it as a guest on board the Beluga was sheer magic. The crew were fabulous the meals were fabulous and the islands were unique and very special.

It was so hard to say which accommodation was our favourite until we arrived at Hacienda San Agustin de Callo circa 1440 This was the most amazing accommodation any of us have ever experienced, we would have happily stayed forever.

Of course a holiday such as ours could never happen without our guides. They were fabulous, nothing was too much trouble to them and our comfort and safety was always considered.  Some we only had for half a day, Jenny in Lima but her knowledge and enthusiasm was inspiring, if we hadn’t already loved Lima we would after spending time with Jenny. Our Cesares in Trujillo to Chiclayo excellent driver and an expert guide and so happy they had the same name, made life easy! We became very familiar with the Huacas of the sun and the moon, Chan Chan and the Lady of Cao. Amazing history! Mitzi was our guide in Chiclayo, a walking encyclopaedia on the Lords of Sipan, and we will be forever in her debt for recommending that us old  girls hired horses to get to Gocta falls. Julio was our guide from Chiclayo to Chachapoyas and Senor Hegel was our driver, and what an amazing driver he was! Julio was a treasure trove of information and had an excellent sense of humour, our efforts in human exertion were always rewarded with sublime or addiction moments, chocolates he’d brought along to share when we reached Grocta or the Sarcophagi! In the Galapagos our guide was Karla, she was a powerhouse of enthusiasm. She shared her love of the islands, each unique and she inspired us to want to do and experience everything we could in such a short time. Miriam was our next amazing guide and Fernando was our driver. Ecuador was a surprise not sure what we expected but it surpassed anything we could have hoped for. The metropolis of Quito to the pristine beauty of Cotopaxi! It’s so good to see a country through the eyes of people that know it and love it! Our final guide was Christian who met us in Cuenca, what a fabulous, beautiful city and with Christian’s knowledge we learned so much about this cosmopolitan city that was once a rest place on the Inca highway from the coast to the highlands. On route to Guayaquil with did a walk through Cajas national park and experienced the beauty of the high altitude lakes area. Fabulous!

So thank you Ed and thank you Nick for all your efforts in organising what was another unforgettable  and once in a lifetime trip!

Ross & Carmel (VIC, 2020)

We loved the whole experience! Our guides were wonderful: prompt, friendly, informative with very good English, particularly Nanh in Hoi A and Hue, Quoc in HCMC and Vaanak in Siem Riep. We particularly loved the garden house in Hue; wandering through the Hmong village near Mai Chau; the cooking class with Chef Ay and the lunch with the veteran in Hanoi, and the whole experience in Siem Riep and the Kulen mountains. (We haven’t received  Ay’s recipes yet however!).

We had a wonderful time! Thanks for a marvellous, unforgettable and very well organised trip!

TRAVELLED TO SRI LANKA

Pauline & party (VIC, 2020)

Just checking in to let you know we had a terrific time in Sri Lanka, we loved the country and its people, all of us were particularly smitten with the cultural triangle.

Thanks for your seamless assistance and careful guidance.

Simon & Tiffany (N.T 2020)

I have travelled to over 90 countries and the planning and execution of Oasis travel was unbelievable! Great value for money, excellent driver and vehicle, top hotels in every location and best of all we had an amazing experience. A lot to be said about someone to organise your journey and it being better than you can imagine.

Alex & family (Dec 2019)

Just got home , what a fantastic holiday . All the hotels chosen  were top notch . We also enjoyed all the restaurants you recommended. Our guides and drivers were all fantastic and we had an amazing time . We were lucky with the weather in Peru we actually had mostly fine weather and didn’t miss out on anything . We particularly enjoyed the accommodation in sacred valley . The staff at that resort were outstanding. The hotel in Cartagena was beautiful. The only downfall was due to latam / qantas on flight home. We landed in Sydney airport with limited time to catch our domestic flight home to Brisbane . We had to pass immigration and customs and collect our bags . The airport was a absolute madhouse. When we reached the qantas transfer desk they told us that latam had not arranged for us to be on next available flight to Brisbane . So we had to go to the latam desk in the departures hall and discus with them. on our arrival at the desk there was a 2 hour wait to speak to anyone as there was over 30 passengers with the same issue. We didn’t get home till 5 hours after our allocated original time. All in all , fantastic trip and we know it is nothing to do with oasis that this happened. Thanks again we truly had a great time over there and loved all the hotels etc .

Kathy & Tim (QLD 2019)

Thanks for the note and apologies we haven’t been in contact sooner. We had an amazing time. The tour was great and the main tour leader was fantastic – very knowledgeable and down to earth guy. We had a couple of tour leaders during the eclipse tour and they were both great. I can’t take credit for the eclipse shot, it was taken by a guy who came along with all the required equipment. The location we saw it from was isolated but therefore not crowded and overlooked the Andes – incredible! Also included a photo of the tour (we’re 2nd and 3rd from the right – I’m the short one), a tourist shot from Igassu and Valparaiso. Tim and I can’t thank you enough for the holiday we had.

Julie & Grant (SA 2019)

Thank you for arranging such an amazing holiday to Argentina for us. We had the best time and really enjoyed the diversity in the landscapes from Salta to Iguazu then the wetlands. The beautiful people and delicious wine and food. Such a wonderful country now we need to go back and see the south! Thanks again, the itinerary was perfect for us.

Victoria & Darren (NSW 2020)

We’re back in sunny Adelaide, safe and sound, even though we didn’t get home exactly as planned (thanks, Qantas). This is another big, big thank you to you from the two of us. Your itinerary was spot on, and your insights into the idiosyncrasies of South American airlines were right on the money! The only thing we would change (perhaps) is the accommodation in Mendoza… the management, staff and location of Cavas Wine Lodge were superb (big thanks to Bernie, our driver and guide), but the villas themselves suffered from an absence of ceiling fans and window screens… which meant we missed out on the beautiful nighttime breezes from the Andes, and had to listen to a noisy A/C. If we were to return to Mendoza, we would probably look at staying at The Vines Resort instead. But seriously, this is the only accommodation we would change: Algodon Mansion, Hotel Puerto Valle and Hub Portena were all completely fabulous. Scenic Eclipse surpassed all our expectations: fabulous suite, fabulous restaurants, and fabulous expedition (‘Discovery’) team members.

Kay & Ian (VIC 2020)

We had a great trip thank you very much and all went very well. We loved the hotel in Hanoi and really enjoyed the resort in Tam Coc – but it was all very good.

We also went on a street food tour organised by the hotel in Hanoi and that was also good. The lecture by the restoration architect in Hoi An was very interesting.

In HCMC we also treated ourselves to Luke Nyugen restaurant Vietnam House.

I've just come to renew my policy

I've just come to renew my policy, as it expires 23 December but we have a holiday booked on 26 December. During this policy I didn't need to make a claim, so I can't really review Oasis based on the cover period. I was going to renew with Oasis, however, I decided to filter their TrustPilot reviews based on the keyword "claim". Take a look at how many 1 star reviews there are based on this. It's nearly 100% 1 star reviews. On the face of it, this looks like a great travel insurance company, but the reality is, if you do need to make a claim, it's seems HIGHLY IMPROBABLE that they will actually pay out. When choosing a travel insurance company you want to be sure that they will honour the policy and actually pay out, otherwise, you're throwing money away and more worryingly, you're putting yourself at great risk to yourselves, and your family, should something unthinkable happen during your trips. I've done a search on other providers using the same method, by filtering by "claim". Other providers have many 5 star reviews from their customers saying that they were paid in the event of making a claim. This is the reassure that I need to make sure I book with a company that I can trust.

Reply from Oasis Insurance

Hi Peter, Thank you for taking the time to leave Oasis a review and we're sorry to read your negative review. To help address some of your concerns, we ask customers to review Oasis Insurance on a number of things. This could be the product, sales process, price or claims. Naturally other companies will send Trustpilot reviews following a successful claim, whereby Oasis will leave this open for a customer to review us at any time in the process. As you can appreciate, customers will naturally leave a negative review when a claim has been declined, however all claims are paid out in line with the terms and conditions of the policy, which is in line with the travel insurance market and the competitors you've reviewed. There are also positive 5* reviews following a successful claim. In addition to the above, we have paid out over £2.5m in claims since launch, which will hopefully alleviate any concerns regarding Oasis Insurance not paying out as we absolutely do. Oasis Insurance is built on trust, with the aim to make travel insurance as simple as possible for our customers. Therefore based upon your review I hope this response helps build further trust with yourself, that Oasis will be there in your time of need. Should you need anything further or would like to discuss your renewal in more detail, please feel free to reach out to us on 0330 041 8147 or via [email protected]. Many thanks, Oasis Insurance

May did a great job for me. She booked connections to the Middle East very well and one time, when I had to cancel, she succeeded in getting a refund despite Turkish Air saying it was definitely NON refundable. Good experience. Fast response.

May and Sana are the two most amazing travel agents EVER! I had the pleasure of dealing with May and she was the most absolute helpful person I have ever met. She went above and beyond what anyone in the travel industry does. I am so grateful for all her hard work and making my vacation one to never forget!!!!!! Than you Oasis Travel!

May is an outstanding travel agent and she goes out of her way to help anyone with their tickets. I have never found better customer service than this travel agency. She was so helpful in finding the best rates for us that even after we confirmed she got us a better price because she kept calling to get a better price. That was just awesome and I appreciate her for the effort she put in. Awesome people, awesome agency!!!!

To fellow yelpers Please do not even waste your time to contact this travel agent, especially the person whose name is May. I got this travel agent based on a friend's referral on alaskan cruise. I called 3 times. The first time is to ask more about Alaskan Cruise. The 2nd time, leave a message, no callback. The 3rd time, talked to someone, asked that person about May and my inquire on Alaskan Cruise, she said that May will call me back. 2 weeks later still no call back so....... the point is I wonder how this business survives based on poor customer service and I have to admit, do they do business only with Chinese spoken people?

Photo of Donna B.

This is the most wonderful travel agency ever! May and Sanaa have helped me find the very best faires. Sanaa even personally delivered tickets to the Compassionate Listening team on New Year's Eve to be sure they would make their flight.

Photo of Reem O.

Hi. Great service. I had to book multiple destinations, and Sana assisted me. She was helpful and willing to help with all the dates that I requested. She was patient. I don't know why this other person had a bad review, but I highly recommend Oasis Travel esp for middle eastern trips since they are knowledgeable. I believe they have been in the business for a very long time and have a lot of experience. Thank you Sana ;-) I will definitely use them again.

Interview: OASIS Travel Network Expands Host Agency Offerings Through a Challenging Time

oasis travel reviews

Interviewing: Kelly Bergin, President, OASIS Travel Network

Interview By: Andy Ogg, CTIE, Co-Owner – Travel Professional NEWS

OASIS Travel Network began with a vision.  In the midst of the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009, Lee Smolinski, founder and Chairman of OASIS saw that the travel agency industry was once again making a transformation.  Brick and mortar travel agencies were closing in record numbers and individual travel advisors increasingly went home based.  Senior travel advisors were retiring and weren’t being replaced.

There were already host agencies in the space and they were doing quite well.  However, Lee Smolinski found that the sector needed fundamental change to greatly increase compensation for advisors as well as attract new entrants to the industry.  A healthy industry must attract new blood with entrepreneurial spirit.  Hence, OASIS was born, and was the first host agency to offer advisors 100% commissions.

With over 30 years in the travel industry, all as a small business owner, Lee knows what you need to build your brand, be successful and survive.   Strong industry relationships have been developed over many years and are key to successful negotiations that benefit our OASIS members.

For the past ten years, Lee has built a team, together with Kelly Bergin, President of OASIS to become one of the most highly respected and fastest growing host agencies in the nation.  OASIS is also proud to be the only host agency in the World that provides free ASTA membership to all its members.  Lee & Kelly both believe that ASTA serves a vital role in the travel industry and cannot be replicated.

Today, OASIS offers every tool that a travel advisor needs to succeed in this competitive industry.  We plan for the future, by learning from the past.  Ethics and professionalism guide us every day.

First off, thank you very much for the time today and joining our fantastic Travel Professional NEWS readers!

What a year it’s been! How has the 2020 year and all that has happened been for you all at OASIS Travel Network ?

I have to admit it has been a challenging time, but also a time of rethinking and renewal. Like many other companies we decided to take this opportunity to update and improve some of our tools and processes for our OTN members. The first thing we changed was the cost of OASIS membership. Our new Build-A-Plan program offers many choices with various costs beginning at $19 per month. We also upgraded the websites we offer and lowered the cost all at the same time. If that wasn’t enough, we added a consumer cruise and hotel booking engine at no cost. We listened when our members told us they wanted the ability to manage and personalize their websites. We are now offering that solution as well.

We have seen the inclusion of the ASTA membership when partnering with OASIS Travel Network, how did that offering come about?

OTN has always been an enthusiastic supporter of ASTA. We were always looking for ways to promote ASTA and to encourage members to join the only organization that supports them. When we decided to restructure our OTN membership we knew it was the perfect time to not only lower costs for our advisors, but to also add value to an OTN membership. What better way than to offer two memberships for the price of one: OASIS and ASTA!

How has OASIS Travel Network continued to educate travel advisors throughout the COVID-19 crisis?

We have a very strong relationship with our suppliers and they have continued to offer training and support. Webinar and Zoom meetings are popular. Our panel discussions about Covid-19 challenges, river cruises, and best marketing methods for this time have been very well attended. We are also a member of Signature Travel Network which has an incredible training program including the new proprietary Discoveries and Nolan Burris training courses. These cover such topics as building destination itineraries, implementing fees, handling objections, closing the sale, selling your value and much more. This is the perfect time for advisors to catch up on training and gain the knowledge they’ve needed, but were perhaps too busy accomplish.

Are there other avenues you have pursued in order to keep agents engaged and connected with your host agency, and each other?

After making the decision to cancel two in person New2Travel boot camps, we have changed this training to a virtual learning experience. Typically, we require our new to the industry advisors to complete our 98 module online training courses and then we bring them to Boca Raton for our live boot camp. This allows them to meet the OTN staff, network with supplier partners and each other. Because that cannot happen now, we hope this virtual boot camp will give our participants a type of in-person interaction they would have experienced. We anticipate beginning our in-person training again in early 2021.

For those new to travel, what aspects of education should they be focusing on right now?

This is the perfect time to begin a travel career. There will be more time to focus on the set-up of a new business and to plan how to launch it correctly. People that are new to the industry should research and learn about LLC’s, E&O insurance, and accounting practices so they know what is best for their business situation. The next step is to study marketing and sales because without that there will be no business. And lastly, a new advisor needs to decide what they are going to sell and study those products and destinations.

As we look forward, what do you think we, as an industry, can do to help the world of travel begin its rebuilding process?

I believe we should learn as much as possible about the new protocols that suppliers are putting in place. We need to keep up to date on all the guidelines and rules that countries are establishing. We need to begin traveling ourselves and explain to our clients as we go our experience and observations. By becoming the expert about traveling during Covid-19, an advisor can help to energize those clients that are ready to travel and they will be ready when those other clients come knocking and they will!

All advisors also need to complete the CDC survey requesting information about resumption of cruising : https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2020/07/21/2020-15812/request-for-information-related-to-cruise-ship-planning-and-infrastructure-resumption-of-passenger

Is there anything else new on the horizon for OASIS Travel Network as we look forward?

As highlighted above, we have our new Build-A-Plan program that saves advisors money and our new state-of-the-art websites. We also just launched a new air booking engine that includes scheduled air, private consolidator rates, a concierge air desk with support and soon to come Air/Sea rates. So, we have been quite busy these last six months and will continue to be. There are always a new and better ideas and at OASIS we embrace those.

Thank you for the time today and for sharing this wonderful information with our readers of Travel Professional NEWS! I look forward to catching up with you again soon!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if i don’t get on with everyone in my group.

Travelers often highlight the people they meet as one of the trip's highlights. While you might not become best friends with everyone, you will likely make lifelong friends. Shared activities like setting up camp and cooking bring people together, fostering camaraderie and teamwork.

Do I need a sleeping mat and bag?

Yes, you will need to bring your own sleeping mat and sleeping bag. A 3-4 season sleeping bag, and a camping mat are required for Overland Adventures and Ultimate Expeditions. Check the trip details for Small Group Adventures to confirm if these items are necessary. Specific climate advice can be found on the ‘Essential Information' tab of each trip page. This ensures you have suitable gear for the weather conditions you will encounter.

How much spending money will I need to take with me?

Calculate your budget by considering optional excursions, visa costs, and general spending like meals and souvenirs. Do not forget pre- and post-trip expenses and a contingency fund for emergencies. It is recommended to bring your Local Payment in a separate envelope for easy access.

What are the groups like on your trips?

Groups are diverse, with ages ranging from 20s to 70s, predominantly British, European, Canadian, Australian, and New Zealanders. Many travellers join solo, and there are no single supplement fees for overland trips. Expect to work as part of a team, sharing responsibilities like cooking and cleaning.

How many people do you take on your trips?

Overland Adventures and Ultimate Expeditions typically have 22-24 travellers, with an average of 12-18. Small Group Adventures have a maximum of 18 people, usually averaging 8-14. This ensures a more personalized experience and better group dynamics.

Do I need to be physically fit to go on a trip?

A positive attitude and mobility are more important than physical fitness. Overland trips require participation in tasks like cooking and cleaning which can involve carrying heavy pans and bulk food items as well as setting up camp with our heavy-duty tents and climbing up and down the truck steps. Good fitness is necessary for activities like the Inca Trail trek. If you have any specific concerns, consult with us beforehand.

I am a single traveller – do I have to pay a single supplement?

There are no single supplement fees for overland trips. You will be paired with a tent buddy of the same sex. However, single supplements may apply on some small group trips if room-sharing is not possible.

Do you offer group discounts?

Yes, we offer group discounts. If you are booking for 5 or more people, contact us for detailed information and available offers.

I am an older traveller – Can I join your trips?

Absolutely, travellers range from 18 to late 60s, with some even in their 70s. Overland trips require participation in communal tasks; Small Group Adventures involve various transport modes and no cooking duties. Your experience level and enthusiasm are what matter most.

What accommodation is provided, and will I have to share with other members of the group?

Overland Adventures and Ultimate Expeditions use shared 'Dome' tents and dormitory-style rooms. Small Group Adventures use locally owned hostels and hotels, mostly shared rooms. Solo travellers will be paired with a same-sex roommate.

What is Local Payment (LP) and what does it pay for?

Local Payment covers day-to-day expenses such as food, guides, and accommodation. It reduces the overall trip price and avoids hidden costs. This system ensures your money goes directly to local communities.

The trip I want to do is full on the website. Can I put my name on a cancellation list?

Yes, you can contact us to be placed on a cancellation list. We will notify you if a spot becomes available, or we can suggest an alternative trip or date that suits your schedule.

Will I get free time whilst on tour?

Yes, both Overland and Small Group Adventures provide ample free time for you to explore independently or join optional activities. Your Tour Leader can offer suggestions for things to do during your free time.

Can children join your trips?

Children under 16 are not allowed on overland trips. However, young adults aged 16-17 can join with a parent or guardian. We also offer dedicated family trips designed to be enjoyable for travellers of all ages.

Can I book a hotel and airport transfers in the departure city and how?

Yes, we can arrange pre-trip accommodation and airport transfers in many departure cities. Please request this service at least 6 weeks before departure to ensure availability.

How long before my trip starts should I arrive?

We recommend arriving 1-2 days before your trip begins. Pre-departure meetings are typically held the evening before Day 1, providing an opportunity to meet your fellow travellers and Oasis crew.

Pre-departure meeting - What if I can’t make it?

If you cannot attend the pre-departure meeting, inform us in advance. We will notify your Tour Leader and arrange an alternative meeting point, usually at the departure location on Day 1.

What type of luggage should I bring?

For truck trips, bring a backpack or hold-all (70-90 litres) and a day pack (15-20 litres). Do not bring hard luggage as it is not practical for overland travel. For Small Group Adventures, a suitcase is acceptable but not ideal.

Can I bring my own tent?

Yes, you can bring your own tent. Please inform us if you plan to do so. We provide tents for Overland Adventures and Ultimate Expeditions, but you may prefer your own for comfort or familiarity.

Where is the best place to get medical advice before traveling?

For medical advice, check the NHS Fit4Travel website or consult your local medical centre or travel clinic. Oasis travellers can also get a 10% discount at Nomad Travel Clinic for consultations and vaccinations.

How often will I need to cook?

There is no cooking required on Small Group, Family & Mini Adventures. Overland trips require shared cooking duties, typically about once a week. Cooking together is a wonderful way to bond with fellow travellers.

Can I drink the water?

For Small Group, Family & Mini Adventures, use bottled water. On overland trips, treated water is available on the truck, but you may need bottled water in cities. It is also worth considering one of our discounted Water-To-Go bottles.

What should I do if there are discrepancies in my booking confirmation?

If you notice any discrepancies in your booking confirmation, contact us immediately to rectify the issue to avoid additional costs. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

What should I do if I have a medical condition or disability?

Inform us of any medical conditions or disabilities before confirming your booking. We will advise on the suitability of your chosen arrangements and any reasonable adjustments that can be made. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

What physical demands can I expect on an Oasis Overland trip?

Our trips can be physically demanding, including activities such as trekking at high altitudes and traveling through jungles, deserts, and cold environments. Ensure you are sufficiently fit and healthy for these challenges. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

What should I know about the health and hygiene standards of the destinations?

Health and hygiene standards can vary greatly by country and may not be as high as those in the UK. Be aware of risks such as poor local hygiene, high altitudes, heat-related illnesses, and tropical diseases. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

Do I get a discount if I have travelled with you before?

Yes, you do, we value your loyalty and are happy to have you travel with us again. You will receive a 5% discount on your second trip and 10% discount on your third! Discounts do not apply to trips already discounted, Mini Adventures, Add Ons and Volunteer projects, or your Local Payment.

Can I transfer my booking to another person?

You can transfer your booking to another person who meets all trip conditions by providing written notice no later than 7 days before the departure date. Both you and the transferee will be responsible for all associated costs. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

Are excursions included in the trip price?

Some excursions may be included, but optional excursions are usually at an additional cost and subject to availability. Please see our terms and conditions for full details.

Do you sell flights?

No, we do not sell flights. Use search engines like Skyscanner or airline websites to find and compare prices. Booking early can often result in better deals.

Everything That Went Right (And Wrong) During Oasis’ Ticket Sale

By Ethan Millman

Ethan Millman

Oasis ’ reunion predictably overloaded ticketing platforms over the weekend as millions of fans queued for tickets, putting the perennially challenging ticketing marketplace at center stage again.

Disgruntled fans felt their beloved band sold out in more ways than one, using a controversial “dynamic pricing” method that overshadowed the rest of the on-sale, including the band’s own efforts to prevent rampant scalping.

The on-sale is yet another case study in how ticketing has become one of the most complex — and often unpleasant — experiences for music fans. Here’s everything that went right (and wrong) and what it all means for the live music business going forward.

1. The Band Tried to Block Scalpers From Gouging Fans

After the presale had begun and seats were listed for as much as £6,347 (or $8,300), the band warned their tickets “can ONLY be resold, at face value, through Ticketmaster and Twickets. Tickets sold in breach of the terms and conditions will be canceled by the promoters,” Oasis said.

Oasis join the likes of Pearl Jam, Billie Eilish, and the Cure, who’ve used fan-to-fan exchanges and restricted ticket transferability. It’s been predictably unpopular among the resale platforms, who’ve argued that limiting transferability cuts out competition and gives primary ticketing services like Ticketmaster unmatched control over the market.

Editor’s picks

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, 25 most influential creators of 2024, 2. scalpers are still trying to resell tickets, against the band’s wishes .

While Oasis have repeatedly warned that tickets sold outside of the official ticketing services and fan-to-fan exchange “are either counterfeit or will be canceled by the promoters,” that hasn’t stopped resale platforms like StubHub and Viagogo from listing them anyway.

As of this article’s publication, Viagogo has hundreds of tickets listed for sale across all of the band’s U.K. dates, some for nearly $4,000. In a statement to Rolling Stone, Viagogo maintained that they’re allowed to sell the tickets despite Oasis’ claims.

“Resale is legal in the U.K., and fans are always protected by our guarantee — that they will receive their tickets in time for the event or their money back,” a rep for Viagogo says. With the shows still nearly a year away, it remains to be seen when or how Oasis and the concerts’ promoters will take action on any of the seats listed on the secondary market.

Feds Indict Musician on Landmark Massive Streaming Fraud Charges

Oasis announce invite-only wembley stadium reunion concerts after chaotic ticket sale, the bed-stuy mansion fueling new york's underground scene.

Viagogo argues that secondary ticket listings are more directly tied to supply and demand than the primary ticketer, and in its statement, the company advised fans to be patient rather than panic-buy the day of an on sale.

“Demand will be at its peak when tickets hit the on-sale, but it’s not a normal reflection of what tickets can and will go for,” Viagogo’s global managing director Cris Miller said in a statement. “Just this summer, tickets for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in the U.K. sold on our platform for as low as £80 GBP.”

3. Fans Say Ticketmaster and the Band are Gouging Them Instead With Demand-Based Pricing

Praise over Oasis’ ticketing stance was unfortunately short-lived. By Saturday morning, customers were fuming once again, cursing out Ticketmaster as they faced controversial dynamic pricing mechanics to charge more given the shows’ extremely high demand. Some seat prices shot up by as much as £200, or about $261.

Fans filed complaints to the U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority, the BBC reported, with buyers claiming the ticket prices were misleading.

While much of the rage has been pointed at Ticketmaster, it’s the artists and their teams — not the ticket company — who set the prices. As Robert Smith wrote on X, formerly Twitter, of dynamic prices for the Cure’s own tour last year: “It is a greedy scam — and all artists have the choice to not participate. If no artists participated, it would cease to exist.”

In a statement, a representative for Ticketmaster further affirmed that artists set the price, and said platinum tickets “give fans safe access to some of the most in-demand tickets, while enabling artists and other people involved in staging live events to price tickets closer to their true market value.”

“It needs to be made clear that Oasis leave decisions on ticketing and pricing entirely to their promoters and management, and at no time had any awareness that dynamic pricing was going to be used,” the band said in a press release. While prior meetings between promoters, Ticketmaster and the band’s management resulted in a positive ticket sale strategy, which would be a fair experience for fans, including dynamic ticketing to help keep general ticket prices down as well as reduce touting, the execution of the plan failed to meet expectations. All parties involved did their utmost to deliver the best possible fan experience, but due to the unprecedented demand this became impossible to achieve.”

The company also noted that the price hikes weren’t algorithmically decided based on demand in the waiting room, but rather previously determined for select seats. “There is nothing comparable to algorithmic surge pricing in concert ticketing,” the rep said. “Pricing in ticketing is a largely manual process of adjusting a small portion of the available inventory, typically the most in-demand seats in the house, to prices closer to the full market value revealed in resale markets.”

To be fair to the band, even with the higher price tier, those seats were still going for significantly lower than what’s currently listed on the secondary market. Still, that’s likely of little consolation to the fans who question why they needed to hike the prices at all.

The price hikes are varied: Production costs are way up, as are expenses for road crews, and yes, some artists may just want to charge whatever it is they think they’re worth.

Oasis aren’t the first artist catching flak from fans over dynamic pricing. Bruce Springsteen fans revolted after he used dynamic pricing for his tour last year, with some tickets costing thousands. Springsteen defended the move in an interview with Rolling Stone, noting that the practice only hit a certain amount of the tickets sold and arguing that artists should be getting the extra money for tickets, not scalpers.

Even Twickets caught heat from buyers over the fees listed for tickets on their face value exchange. A viral screenshot showed a £138.74 fee to sell a pair of £488 tickets, worrying fans who questioned whether the face value exchange was extorting fans too. Twickets subsequently announced a cap on their fees.

It’ll likely be a while before any notable amounts of tickets show up on Twickets’ site, however. Fans only just purchased their tickets this weekend and given that they can’t profit on the sale, they probably wouldn’t be listing them unless they find out they can’t attend a concert.

4. The Same Old Tech Issues Plagued Customers

Oasis’ online queues were predictably a war zone this weekend, with Ticketmaster once again becoming one of the top trending searches on social media as hordes of fans reported hourslong lines alongside technical difficulties that got them booted from the site as they tried to secure seats.

The issues weren’t unique to Ticketmaster, as both See Tickets and the U.K. ticketer Gigs and Tours struggled with overwhelming demand as fans got error messages attempting to access the frozen sites.

Critics say Ticketmaster, which faces a monopoly lawsuit from the Department of Justice, hasn’t had any incentive to put more resources into innovating its tech since there aren’t many serious competitors for Ticketmaster’s business. (Ticketmaster itself has maintained it has poured billions of dollars into its tech.)
