Was having trouble w my chain skipping in top gear and Tarek diagnosed the problem, replaced the chain and cassette and had me on my way in 45 minutes, all at a fair price. Very happy with the service.

I took my bike in and requested to have my spokes tightened and they recommended a wheel inspection. I disregarded their suggestion and asked for my wheel spokes to be tightened. I still left my bike only to find out that the charge was over $80.00 When it was Bike Barn the charge was 10.00 each wheel. Now that Trek has bought them out means that they will over charge their customers. I purchased all four of my bikes with Bike Barn. I'd hate to see how much money adds up if I stay loyal to Trek Bycicles. Hopefully, I'm not overreacting but I shouldn't feel like I was taken advantage of.

I turned in my bike yesterday and it got fixed the same day just for 80 bucks they are good Ambon the way to pick up the bike 100 percent you should go there they are really good

White House Easter Egg Roll hosts record attendees

A festive annual tradition continued monday despite the rain.

Lesley Ho spent 60 hours over the past three weeks preparing for her children Roosevelt, 8, and Lincoln, 6, to travel to the South Lawn of the White House. She placed several online clothing orders and combed the internet to plan a fun-filled D.C. itinerary no matter the unpredictable weather.

The whole family was thrilled to make the trek from Houston to D.C., where on Monday, they donned their new brightly colored spring outfits and joined thousands of others to take part in the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.

“It’s always been a dream of mine … even as a kid, being named after George Washington, to be able to go to this Easter Egg Roll,” said Washington Ho, Lesley’s husband. “I never got to go when I was younger so this is really awesome.”

Eight people from the Ho family — stars of an HBO Max reality TV show about their lives in Houston called “House of Ho” — are named after presidents. After Washington’s father and grandfather immigrated to the United States from Vietnam, they wanted their family to be leaders. Ho has a brother named Reagan, two nieces named Kennedy and McKinley, and two nephews named Grant and Truman.

Washington, a real estate investor, said being able to visit the White House has deep personal significance. “My parents came here, barely spoke English and just created a really successful life and family — you know, the American Dream and the opportunities it affords everybody. That’s what I can’t really wait to show my kids. For them to see, feel and touch the people that they’re named after.”

The Easter Egg Roll offered a spirit of joy on the day following Easter — and after a week in which the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed and former president Donald Trump shared a controversial image of President Biden with his hands and feet tied online.

Throughout the day, the White House grounds were filled with about 40,000 people and brightly colored eggs, continuing a tradition that started in 1878. The day was cold and the event was delayed by 90 minutes because of the rain — unlike last year, when the weather was sunny and clear.

Once again, this year’s theme was “EGGucation,” which focused on educational opportunities, in recognition of first lady Jill Biden’s career as a teacher for more than 30 years.

“I love any time when we can turn the White House into a classroom,” the first lady said from the balcony. She, President Biden, Vice President Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff descended onto the lawn after the remarks to participate in the egg roll.

The day’s activities included a representation of a school, a farm, a reading nook, stations for STEM activities, the traditional egg roll and egg hunt. Special guests included Blue, a character from the upcoming animated movie “If”; the Baltimore Ravens mascot; Smokey Bear; and the Easter Bunny.

The day’s first activities were reserved for people with disabilities, which allowed families to maneuver the various stations without crowds.

Cynthia Morgan and her daughter Angel, 17, traveled from Los Angeles with the Miracle Project, a theater and film program for teens and adults who are neurodivergent or autistic. After participating in the egg roll, Angel started singing “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, a song she loves to perform.

“What’s wonderful is them creating a space for us to come early, where we feel so welcomed and we get to see so many other neurodivergent, autistic and disabled individuals here,” said Elaine Hall, the Miracle Project’s founder. “We were blessed to be here at The White House.”

District native Asibi Carnegie held her 6-year-old daughter Talibah after she was one of the first children to complete the egg roll race. Carnegie picked up tickets for the event from the Maryland School for the Blind late last week and took the day off from her job at the Pentagon. Talibah, whose vision is impaired, was tired after waking up at 5:45 a.m. Her mom promised her hot chocolate as she whisked her away to the reading nook activity center.

The Thurman family — mom Tiffany, dad Ezechial and daughter Alicia took the Amtrak train from Philadelphia at 4 a.m. to attend the egg roll. Alicia, 8, said she was most excited about the candy-filled eggs that were scattered about.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring our daughter here and to celebrate our country here,” said Ezechial, a high school music teacher on spring break.

The American Egg Board, which represents the nation’s egg farmers, provided 64,000 real eggs this year that were used for hunting, decorating and cooked in egg-based dishes served for special guests. The eggs used in the egg roll and hunt were dyed pink, teal, blue and purple.

During the egg roll, Roosevelt Ho narrowly beat out his sister Lincoln to cross the finish line first.

The Ho family, which included grandparents Binh and Hue Ho, soaked up the uniquely Washington experience. In the days before the Easter Egg Roll they visited the cherry blossoms and the Lincoln Memorial and ate brunch at the Woodrow Wilson House off Embassy Row.

“To see American history leaves us in awe,” Lesley Ho said.

Memorial Park's par-4 17th will play drivable in final round of Texas Children’s Houston Open

Memorial park’s 17th hole is reconfigured for 2024, green pushed back 30 yards from water’s edge.

HOUSTON – Memorial Park Golf Course's short par-4 17th hole has traditionally played a two-shot hole for most of the Texas Children’s Houston Open field, even when the tee was moved up to create a drivable opportunity. With the previous green complex situated just beyond the water’s edge, the risk-reward wasn’t there.

That is set to change Sunday, with the tee box moved up to play 329 yards and players attacking a new green complex that will entice bold plays.

The 17th green complex has been reconfigured for this year’s Texas Children’s Houston Open, with 30 yards of fairway now separating the green and the water’s edge. The green was previously situated just 5 yards from the water’s edge, limiting players’ incentive to drive the green even from a forward tee that made carrying the water no problem – it was just too hard to stop the ball on the green, players and officials said this week.

The hole’s scorecard length has been extended from 382 yards to 405 yards, which has increased the hole’s difficulty from the tips – the hole has played to a 4.173 average through three rounds in 2024, using the back tee in all rounds, after playing to 4.005 a season ago. Water down the hole’s right side has required players to be cautious off the tee, while playing more club off the tee if a wedge approach is desired (or laying back off the tee, then taking more club into the green). It ranked as Memorial Park’s fifth toughest hole through three rounds in 2024, after ranking No. 13 in difficulty last season.

But the tee has been moved up for Sunday's final round, the hole playing to 329 yards. The carry distance, roughly 280 yards, will be no trouble for the field, but will players be willing to accept the risk of bunkers left and water right? We’ll soon find out.

“I think it's a good change,” said world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who was among five players tied for the lead after the conclusion of Round 3. “I think they had tried to move the tee box up a couple times in the last few years to make it drivable and with the way the green was, it just wasn't a hole that you would really try to drive.

"But now the way the green is shaped, you have an area where you can run it up. I think they'll have the tee box moved up on the weekend and it should be a pretty exciting way to finish off the tournament. I think the changes are really good."

Tom Doak, who resigned the course in 2019, believed that the event’s penultimate hole should feature a high level of risk-reward, whereas this event’s previous three iterations at Memorial Park saw a conventional strategy employed at No. 17. Hence the changes around the green for 2024.

“We looked at the history of the past three tournaments that we’ve played here, and obviously getting player feedback as well, and we’ve had some great discussions and this is what Tom came up with,” said TOUR Senior Tournament Referee Robby Ware earlier this week. “He’s done a really nice job, and excited to see how it plays out this week.”

The teeing area, fairway contouring and fairway width have remained unchanged, said Ware this week, but the area around the green has changed substantially. Two bunkers have been added left of the green, making a left bailout shot more difficult (water hugs the hole’s entire right side, from the fairway through the green.) The green now slopes left-to-right as well, meaning a pitch from left of the green will require players to keep the water in mind.

It's a bold change that will force players to decide down the stretch at Memorial Park: go for an eagle putt, or play a safer tee shot for a wedge approach?

“From the back tee it doesn't change the hole tremendously, but with the tee up it's very much a cool drivable hole now,” added last week’s Valspar Championship winner Peter Malnati, who made the cut on the number at Memorial Park. “I think it will be fun to watch guys have a go at it because … obviously if you go for it, likely miss would be left of the green. The green slopes toward the water from left of the green, so you have to see some guys do some great short game in.

“Maybe they'll make it drivable on Sunday and you'll see someone step up and make a really bold play and hit one right on the green and have an eagle putt on Sunday. I think that would be really cool.”
