Inter miami and messi going on asia tour — for real this time, share this article.

Inter Miami has announced the club will embark on a preseason tour of Asia in February, with its first stop in Hong Kong.

Lionel Messi and Co. will face a team comprised of best players from the Hong Kong First Division League on February 4 at Hong Kong Stadium.

“We’re very excited to be visiting Hong Kong and indeed Asia for the very first time,” said Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas. “From the very beginning we set out to be a global club at Inter Miami. This is a wonderful opportunity to do just that; we hope to enthuse and inspire new Inter Miami fans in Hong Kong and across Asia who share our passion for fútbol.”

The club said it would announce more matches of the Asia tour in the coming weeks.

“Hong Kong is a beautiful city with a great sports scene,” added Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham. “Throughout my career, I have spent a lot of time in Asia – I am so pleased to have the opportunity to bring Inter Miami to play our first international tour match in this fantastic city.”

Inter Miami’s offseason plans have taken a number of twists and turns as the club looks to capitalize on the presence of Messi, as well as Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and ( likely ) Luis Suárez.

The club’s two-game tour of China in November was cancelled due to issues with venues and ticketing platforms. Mas was then forced to deny rumors that his club had agreed to play a February tournament in Saudi Arabia, which would have seen Messi come up against Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr.

Miami does have one preseason match on the docket already: a friendly against El Salvador’s national team on January 19 at Estadio Cuscatlán in San Salvador.

Man City to face Atletico Madrid in Seoul as part of pre-season Asian tour

By Paul Nicholson

asia tour football

April 21 – Manchester City have announced they will travel to Asia for their 2023/24 pre-season tour and will play LaLiga’s Atletico Madrid in Seoul, South Korea, on July 30.

The match is part of the ‘Coupang Play Series’. Coupang Play is a streaming service in Korea and will broadcast the game locally.

Stephen Kim, Head of Coupang Play, said: “We very much look forward to welcoming Manchester City to Korea for the Coupang Play Series,” adding, “The club and its exceptional squad will present an unforgettable match to ourCoupang Wow customers and Korea’s football fans.”

The fixture against Atletico Madrid, who Man City last played in the Champions League quarter finals in 2021/22 is one of three fixtures the club will play in Asia. Further details of matches are to be announced

This is the first time City have played South Korea since 1976, when the team featured players such as DennisTueart, Alan Oakes, Glyn Pardoe and Willie Donnachie. The played a three-match series in Seoul, Busan and Teagu against a Korea XI.

The club also recently visited Seoul in November 2022 as part of its Global Trophy Tour, taking the Premier League trophy alongside club ambassador Shaun Wright-Phillips. City also hosted fan events in 2018 (Seoul) and 2019 (Seoul and Busan) during previous trophy tours.

Esteve Calzada, Chief Commercial Officer at City Football Group, said: “We are excited to announce this preseason fixture in Seoul, South Korea as part of our Asia tour this summer, as we return to the region for the firsttime since 2019. Manchester City has a strong relationship with South Korea, with a number of strategic and long-term partners from the country and a passionate, ever growing fanbase. It has been almost 50 years since we first played in Seoul as a club and we can’t wait to bring today’s generation of players to fans in the country.”

World Cup champion Argentina to play Australia in China, visit Indonesia on Asian tour

SYDNEY (AP) — World Cup champion Argentina will play Australia at the Workers’ Stadium in Beijing and take on Indonesia during a two-game exhibition tour to Asia next month.

Argentina will play the Socceroos on June 15 in the Chinese capital. It’ll be the first meeting between the teams since Lionel Messi and his Argentina lineup beat Australia 2-1 in the Round of 16 en route to winning the World Cup title last December in Qatar.

Argentina's football federation said the national squad would play Indonesia in Jakarta on June 19.

“Football is truly the global game and for Australia to be invited to play this match in China, and against the world No. 1, we hope this will open further opportunities for our two nations to work together both on and off the football field,” Football Australia chief executive James Johnson said in a statement Monday.

Argentina's game in Indonesia is scheduled for a week after the under-20 World Cup final in La Plata.

Argentina took Indonesia’s spot in the U20 tournament as host and participant. Protests in Muslim-majority Indonesia against hosting a team from Israel forced FIFA into the late switch of venues.

Liverpool Returning to Asia for 2022-23 Pre-Season Tour

July dates in Bangkok and Singapore have been set for the Reds ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Singapore v Liverpool FC

After five years, Liverpool are heading back to Asia for a pre-season tour, with two dates now confirmed for the club’s 2022-23 pre-season including a match against Manchester United in Bangkok on Tuesday, July 12th, and a match against Crystal Palace in Singapore on the 15th.

At least another date or two in the region is likely to be announced, and if the club’s pre-season plans follow the pattern of other years there will likely be a few dates in Europe both before and after their tour.

There also seems the possibility that there could be more than one game played in Singapore given the game against Palace is being billed as part of a Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022. Alternately it could simply be a one-off match with a sponsor attached to it.

“Pre-season is a vital time of year for our players,” read a statement from commercial director Ben Latty. “It’s hugely important preparation for the season ahead and it’s also a perfect opportunity to meet with our fans around the world.

“We can’t wait to get back to Singapore once again, we’ve received a tremendous welcome there in the past, and are excited to be taking part in the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022.”

A return to Singapore for the Reds will indeed be exciting news for the many fans of the club there. Whether there’s any particular excitement in it also being a chance for the Reds to lift the Standard Chartered Singapore Trophy 2022 we’ll leave up to readers.

Bayern Munich to have Asia tour in summer 2023

I would like to suggest a place where they should go.

FC Bayern Muenchen Audi Summer Tour - Day 11

Bayern Munich are known for their trips to the United States and Asia for brand exposure; they went to Washington D.C. in preseason of the 2022/23 season, and now they will be heading to Asia later this year.

Bild journos Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk ( as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia ) reported that the tour is still being planned. The only country that Bayern will definitely go to is Thailand where the Bangkok office is located. There are other countries being tossed around like Japan (awkward!) and Singapore, but so far none have been decided on yet.

FC Bayern Muenchen Audi Summer Tour - Day 11

If Bayern haven’t decided on where to go yet, then I suggest that they touch down here in the Philippines. I’ve never seen them go here yet and some of the people I’ve met (who are part of an official fan club) flew to Singapore in 2017 (the lead photo) because Bayern was there. I think it’s time to change all of that and head down to the quintessential cyclone whipping boy (if you’re a fellow Asian and storms have weakened by the time they reach your country, thank us. At time of writing, it’s been raining hard like I’m in Scotland or something.).

It’ll be a different experience for sure and if they do come here, I will be there during the duration of their stay.
