Earlier this month, BABYMETAL announced the addition of a new third member, Momoko Okazaki , who will go by the name of Momometal .
Okazaki had been a member of BABYMETAL 's trio of backup dancers (along with Kano Fujihira and Riho Sayashi ),known as " Avengers ", since 2019, following the departure of one of BABYMETAL 's original members, Yuimetal , in October 2018.
Momoko 's addition to BABYMETAL was announced during the band's show at the Pia Arena MM in Okazaki, Japan.
Momoko was once a member of SAKURA GAKUIN and participated in South Korean reality TV show "Girls Planet 999" as a contestant. However, the singer left the series after the show's first elimination round.
In 2018, BABYMETAL announced the departure of Yuimetal , who was formerly one of the members of the Japanese group's core trio. She exited the band, explaining in a statement that she would go on to pursue a solo career as Mizuno Yu .
BABYMETAL was formed in 2010. Their mission was to unify the world through heavy metal by creating a fusion of heavy metal and the Japanese pop genre. Their music contains a stunning mix of electronic pop, a pinch of alternative and industrial rock, and is leveled up by fast-driven heavy metal. Their live shows are ground-breaking and epic visual as well as sound performances. BABYMETAL continued to travel the path of metal with the international release of their three albums, telling the story of the mighty Fox God and his brave metal warriors.
A book about the first ten years of BABYMETAL , "Bessatsu Kadokawa Souryoku Tokushuu" , was released in Japan in October 2020. It contains a long interview with Su-metal and Moametal as well as never-before-heard stories from band producer Kobametal from BABYMETAL 's decade-long history, photos taken from live shows, a discussion between Demon Kakka and Kobametal , and much more.
BABYMETAL 's latest concept album "The Other One" , was released on March 24.
On the heels of the tour announcement comes the news of the long-awaited return of "Metalocalypse" . In addition to DETHKLOK hitting the road, a full-length original film, written and directed by DETHKLOK 's Brendon Small , "Metalocalypse: Army Of The Doomstar" , a companion soundtrack and "Dethalbum IV" will also arrive this year.
"It's very surreal having so much new 'Metalocalypse' and DETHKLOK this year with the trifecta of the tour, movie and album," said Small . "I'm so excited to get on the road with the powerful BABYMETAL , and to celebrate all the hard work that team 'Metalocalypse' and DETHKLOK put in over the last two years and beyond."
The "Babyklok" tour will also include appearances at Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Alton, Virginia (September 10), Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky (September 23) and Aftershock in Sacramento, California (October 7).
"Metalocalypse: Army Of The Doomstar" was written and directed by Small and produced by Titmouse , Adult Swim and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment . The film stars Small , Tommy Blacha , Victor Brandt ("Metalocalypse"), Stephen "Thundercat" Bruner (Grammy Award-winning musician), King Diamond (KING DIAMOND, MERCYFUL FATE), Mark Hamill ("Batman: The Animated Series", "The Machine"), Kirk Hammett (METALLICA), Jon Hamm ("Confess, Fletch", "Top Gun: Maverick"), Scott Ian (ANTHRAX), Amy Lee (EVANESCENCE), Malcolm McDowell ("A Clockwork Orange"), Juliet Mills ("Passions"), Laraine Newman ("Saturday Night Live"), Raya Yarbrough ("Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem - A Klok Opera"),and Livia Zita (King Diamond's wife and 2022 winner of Society Of Voice Arts And Sciences Award).
The all-new animated movie begins after the heroic rescue of Toki Wartooth ; DETHKLOK frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself traumatized in a brutal professional and romantic flat-spin, all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge to save the planet. Can Nathan Explosion look beyond his brutally damaged ego to save his band, stop the Metalocalypse, and finally face the ultimate evil: Salacia ?
As a special highlight, fans can also anticipate the release of two full-length albums this year. WaterTower Music will release both the film soundtrack, "Metalocalypse: Army Of The Doomstar (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)" as well as "Dethalbum IV" around the launch of the film. Meanwhile, fans can summon DETHKLOK by streaming the "Metalocalypse: Dethklok Complete Collection" playlists.
"Metalocalypse" originally premiered in 2006 on Adult Swim and was created by Small and Blacha .

DETHKLOK and BABYMETAL announce North American tour
One of the coolest metal tours of the year has been announced. Today (April 11th), Dethklok — the real-life incarnation of the Metalocalypse cartoon band — and Japanese kawaii-metal titans Babymetal have revealed they're teaming up for a co-headlining trek across North America later this year, with support from guitarist Jason Richardson (Chelsea Grin, Born of Osiris, All Shall Perish).
Playfully dubbed the "Babyklok Tour," this will mark Dethklok's first actual tour in 11 (!) years, and it'll be Babymetal's first North American trek since 2019 — and therefore their first U.S. dates with newly-appointed third member, Momometal.
The tour kicks off August 30th in Houston and travels throughout the U.S. — as well as a couple dates up in Canada — before concluding October 11th in Los Angeles. General tickets to on sale Friday April 14th at 10 a.m. local time, but Revolver subscribers can get theirs on Wednesday April 12th by using the code "REVOLVE." Get yours here .
The news arrives the same day Adult Swim announced that a new Metalocalypse movie, soundtrack and Dethklok album, Dethklok IV — their first since 2012's Dethklok III — will all be arriving later this year.
Get more details on all that brutal goodness here , and see the full list of Babyklok tour dates below.

In other Dethklok news, the highly anticipated feature film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar is set for a release later this year, along with an accompanying original soundtrack and a new Dethklok studio album, Dethalbum IV , arriving around the same time.
According to the press release, the film picks up after the rescue of Toki Wartooth, and frontman Nathan Explosion finds himself “traumatized in a BRUTAL professional and romantic flat-spin, all while he is tasked with fulfilling the prophecy and confronting the ultimate songwriting challenge to save the planet.”
In addition to Metalocalypse creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blancha, the film is set to star some major heavy metal luminaries including King Diamond, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Anthrax’s Scott Ian, and Amy Lee of Evanescence. Other notable actors on the cast include Mark Hamill, Jon Hamm, and Malcolm McDowell.
The Metalocalypse movie has been a long time coming. The cult animated show originally aired on Adult Swim from 2006 through 2013 before being unceremoniously cancelled before Small and Blancha could finish the main story arc. Rumors of a standalone film circulated in the years to follow, with Small finally announcing that a Metalocalypse movie was in the works in 2021. It is being produced by produced by Titmouse, Adult Swim, and Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment.

Dethklok and Babymetal Deliver An Insane Show
The BabyKlok Tour Stopped By Orlando To Deliver an Incredible Audio-Visual Heavy Metal Extravaganza – Review and Photos of the Dethklok and Babymetal Tour at the Orlando Amphitheater
When two metal titans collide on one stage, you know you’re in for a night of pure musical mayhem. The Orlando Amphitheater was transformed into a battlefield of sound this past weekend when BabyMetal and Dethklok joined forces to deliver an unforgettable performance in the form of the BABYKLOK tour. The opening act Jason Richardson also set the stage on fire with his incredible guitar skills and set the tone for a night of epic proportions.
Kicking off the night with a whirlwind of guitar wizardry, Jason Richardson showed off his formidable talent with a blistering set that left the audience in awe. His intricate fretwork and lightning-fast solos demonstrated why he’s regarded as one of the brightest stars in the instrumental metal world. Displaying songs from his aptly named solo albums “ One ” and “ Two “, Richardson’s performance was a rollercoaster ride through a sonic landscape of technical prowess and musical virtuosity. His ability to seamlessly blend melodic and aggressive elements made for a captivating opener, leaving the crowd ready for what lay ahead.
Finally, the lights dimmed and the eerie audio-visual intro video began to play, and the anticipation reached its peak as the crowd went absolutely wild. Suddenly, the band began to play and the stage came alive with the unique fusion of J-pop and heavy metal that only BabyMetal can deliver. Su-Metal , Moametal , and Momometal burst onto the stage with their trademark boundless energy, their angelic voices contrasting beautifully with the thunderous riffs and pounding drums. The stage production was nothing short of spectacular, featuring dazzling lighting, incredible videos and elaborate set designs that transported the audience to a world of Japanese mythology and heavy metal madness.
The setlist consisted of songs like “ BABYMETAL DEATH “, “ Gimme Chocolate!! ” and “ Megitsune “, which showcased BabyMetal’s unique ability to blend catchy pop melodies with bone-crushing metal riffs. The choreography was flawless, with the trio’s synchronized dance moves adding an extra layer of entertainment to the performance. The crowd’s energy was infectious, with fans of all ages singing along and moshing to the rambunctious tunes. Babymetal finished off their time on stage with their biggest hits “ Headbangerrrrr!!!! ” and “ Road of Resistance ” as the crowd screamed for more.
After BabyMetal’s captivating set, the stage was cleared for the main event – the world’s most famous virtual metal band, Dethklok . As the animated members of Dethklok took center stage on the enormous LED screen, the crowd erupted in cheers. The live band, including metal legends Brendon Small and drummer Gene Hoglan , were hidden in the shadows but unleashed a relentless barrage of thunderous metal. Kicking off with an incredible one-two punch of “ Deththeme ” and “ Breifcase Full of Guts “, the over-the-top videos did an awesome job of showcasing the humor of the Metalocalypse show. The combination of the virtual and real-world elements created a surreal experience that was both visually and musically astonishing.
Dethklok’s setlist was a brutal onslaught of a few songs from their newest album “ Dethalbum IV ” sorrounded by a plethora of their greatest hits, including “ Thunderhorse “, “ Go Into the Water ,” and “ Murmaider. ” The visuals were a feast for the eyes, featuring intense and gory animations that perfectly complemented the band’s dark and humorous lyrical themes. The crowd headbanged in unison, creating a sea of hair and fists in the air. The light show was incredible, and the the choreography between the band, effects crew and the videos was truly an experience to behold. My one complaint about Dethklok’s set is that it didn’t last nearly long enough!
The BABYKLOK tour featuring BabyMetal and Dethklok at the Orlando Amphitheater was a colossal collision of two metal worlds that left the audience in a state of euphoria. From Jason Richardson’s virtuosic opening act to BabyMetal’s infectious blend of J-pop and metal, and finally to Dethklok’s mind-bending fusion of animation and live performance, every moment of the show was a testament to the power of metal music to unite and electrify. It was a night that Orlando’s metal community won’t soon forget, and it will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the most epic concerts to ever grace the city.

Dethklok and BABYMETAL team up for the “BabyKlok” tour coming to the Agora in September

Animated metal band Dethklock is teaming up with Kawaii metal trio BABYMETAL for the "BabyKlok Tour" coming to The Agora in September BABYMETAL
- Malcolm X Abram, cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Metal fans of animated and Japanese metal music will be getting a double shot as animated metal band Deathklock is teaming up with Japanese “kawaii metal” trio Babymetal, for a tour that will stop at The Agora on Wednesday, September 6. Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 14 at The Agora . More information can be found at thebabykloktour.com.
Deathklock is the brainchild of guitarist, writer and director Brandon Smalls whose animated series “Metalocalypse” featuring the fictional band as the most popular band in the history of humankind ran during Cartoon Network’s late-night Adult Swim block of programming for four seasons.
The series proved popular and Smalls a guitarist and songwriter and co-creator Tommy Blacha have since released three albums by Dethklock each of which made the U.S. Hard Rock charts top 10 and the “Dethalbum III” released in 2012 topped both the US Rock and Hard Rock charts and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart.
The touring version of Dethklock features Smalls and a live band mixed with videos of the animated DethKlock in action. Dethklock’s next album “Dethalbum IV” will be released sometime in 2023 along with the Dethklock full-length film “Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar.”
Babymetal is the trio of Su-Metal (vocals, dance), MoaMetal (scream, dance), and new member MoMoMetal (scream, dance). The group began in 2010 as a trio and invented the “kawaii metal” genre, Kawaii being Japanese for “cute.” The group has been both controversial with some metal fans and beloved by others for its unique melding of dark heavy metal imagery with J-pop and the musical mix of various metal sub-genres including industrial, death nu-metal and thrash. The trio released its fourth album “The Other One” in March.

The BABYKLOK Tour ’23: BabyMetal and Dethklok Rock The Rave in Milwaukee, WI – 9/24/2023
The Babyklok Tour ’23

Feat. Jason Richardson
The Rave – Milwaukee, WI

Review/Pics: John Schulze
The Babyklok tour exceeded all expectations, delivering a night of metal mastery that etched its mark in the hearts of fans. Jason Richardson , the opening act, ignited the stage with an awe-inspiring showcase of guitar virtuosity, establishing the ideal ambiance for the evening. Following suit, Babymetal mesmerized the audience with their distinctive fusion of metal and J-pop, leaving an indelible imprint of infectious energy with their extraordinary performance. As the night neared its conclusion, Dethklok commanded the stage, culminating the show with a thunderous display of sonic power. This tour embodied the essence of pure metal, confirming without a doubt that the Babyklok Tour has etched itself as a monumental testament to the enduring spirit and might of the genre.
Jason Richardson’s performance was a sonic marvel and a showcase of his musical expertise through electrifying renditions of well-loved tracks. The venue pulsed with the resonance of “ Tendenitis ,” as Richardson’s flawless fretwork and lightning-fast guitar riffs captivated the crowd. “ Sparrow ” introduced a melodious interlude to the set, accentuating Richardson’s versatility and mastery of intricately fierce melodies.
Approaching the climactic moments of his stage presence, “ Retrograde ” unleashed thunderous beats and technical brilliance, leaving the audience in awe. Richardson’s virtuosity and mastery were evident, cementing his status as a guitar icon within the metal scene both as a solo artist and through his contributions to bands like Born of Osiris , Chelsea’s Grin , and All That Remains .
************
Following, the co-headliner BABYMETAL , featuring SU-METAL on Vocals / Dance, MOAMETAL on Screams / Dance, and MOMOMETAL on Screams / Dance, initiated the evening with their iconic track “ BABYMETAL DEATH .” This trio, backed by their Kami Band, swiftly seized command of the stage, effortlessly stirring the packed venue into a frenzy of metal-induced excitement.
“ Gimme Chocolate!! ” and “ PA PA YA!! ” propelled the atmosphere forward, the euphoric rhythms and dynamic choreography infusing fans with an effervescent delight. “ Distortion ” and “ BxMxC ” demonstrated the group’s growth and musical experimentation, pushing the boundaries and captivating the audience. “ Mirror Mirror ” and “ Monochrome ” heightened the tempo, showcasing Babymetal’s artistry and vocal dexterity. However, the explosiveness of “ METALI!! ,” “ Megitsune ,” and “ Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! ” truly set the night ablaze, each track a testament to their electrifying stage presence. The grand finale, “ Road of Resistance ,” united the crowd in a resounding crescendo, leaving the city of Milwaukee with an indelible musical adventure.
What distinguishes BABYMETAL is their flawless fusion of seemingly contrasting musical realms, metal and J-pop. This amalgamation, while atypical, is executed with meticulous precision, seamlessly blending the aggression, power, and technicality of metal with the infectious melodies, lively choreography, and sweet vocals of J-pop. The outcome is an entirely distinctive and electrifying sound that challenges conventional metal genres. Their live performances are a sensory feast, intertwining intense guitar riffs and booming drumbeats with catchy pop hooks and high-octane dance sequences. Moreover, their lyrical themes often interlace Japanese folklore, mythology, and modern societal issues, infusing depth and cultural richness into their compositions. The contrast of their heavy metal aesthetic with their youthful, kawaii image creates a captivating paradox, underscoring their uniqueness and drawing a broad spectrum of fans worldwide.
BABYMETAL’s knack for bridging seemingly divergent musical realms while upholding authenticity and innovation is what truly establishes them as a remarkable phenomenon in the global music panorama.
Dethklok , existing both as a fictitious band and a central pillar of the animated TV series “ Metalocalypse ,” epitomizes a pinnacle of satirical brilliance within the heavy metal realm.
Dethklok takes on the guise of a fictional band renowned for their darkly comedic and brutally intense stage performances. The animated series meticulously recounts the band’s escapades, presenting a satirical yet affectionate portrayal of both the music industry and the culture of metal. At the helm is the enigmatic, often oblivious Nathan Explosion , leading a band lineup featuring Toki Wartooth , Skwisgaar Skwigelf , William Murderface , and Pickles , each a caricature embodying various metal stereotypes.
The show delves into themes of fame, corporate absurdity, and the profound influence of metal music on an exaggerated scale, all while delivering an abundance of gory and over-the-top humor. Dethklok and “ Metalocalypse ” have solidified their status as iconic figures within metal lore, providing fans an uproarious peek into a fictional metal universe.
Reviewing the realm of Dethklok , a band conceived solely within the imaginative boundaries of a satirical animated series, presents a delightful irony. Dethklok , born from the minds of Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha in “ Metalocalypse ,” epitomizes the exaggerated essence of a stereotypical heavy metal band. The irony is rooted in its fictional existence that has transcended the screen, captivating the imagination and affections of fans, ultimately birthing genuine music. Reviews, though appraising a fictitious creation, are grounded in evaluating real musical compositions, performances, and their tangible impact on a genuine audience. This fusion of fiction and reality blurs the lines between authentic critique and the underlying satire, adding a distinct and intricate layer of appreciation and amusement for both the show and the music itself. It stands as a testament to the imaginative brilliance of the show’s creators that Dethklok , initially a parody, has forged its own niche within the metal community, evoking authentic enthusiasm and inciting critical analysis.
Faced with the impossibility and absurdity of giving Dethklok’s performance an actual review, it should suffice to say they represented their brand and genre with force. The show was, for lack of a better word, brutal to the core and the concert’s sold out status was a testament to the success of THE BABYKLOK TOUR .
