How to buy tickets online for travel from Britain to the Belgium?

www.nationalexpress.com , www.flixbus.co.uk & www.eurolines.eu offer special fares from London to Brussels, Ghent, Liege and all other mentioned Belgian destinations. Currently, just like air fares, the price rises as the cheaper seats are sold, so book as early as the 90-120 day booking period allows. National Express, Flixbus & Eurolines tickets are only valid on the specific bus on which you are booked, no refunds or changes to travel plans with the cheaper tickets.  If you want to stop off in one of the cities along the way, you'll need to book each leg separately. Europebus recommends comparing prices on all of these sites. Just fill out all fields in the journey planner and follow the instructions to buy a ticket. Early booking is highly recommended because the Eurolines route between London and Belgium is very popular and the coaches are fully booked on some days.
Passengers with open date return tickets must confirm/reserve their return journey at least four days before the date they wish to travel.

Travelling to Europe from outside London

National Express is the only operator that offers nationwide connections to London for a simple add-on price of £15 single or return. The journey from London to Belgium by bus

National Express, Flixbus & Eurolines answer to the challenge. The interest in coach transport between Great Britain and Belgium is very large, especially between London and Brussels. The coaches offer comfortable seats, ample legroom, free wifi and seat guarantees. All coaches have an on-board toilet and washroom facilities and air-conditioning as standard. Currently, fares are remarkably low for a product offered by all bus companies. Each day the coach operators have up to 10 coach services to and from Brussels and other Belgian cities. In Belgium, the coaches from London stop in several cities before they reach Brussels. All the mentioned bus companies serve Brussels, Antwerp, Bruges, Ghent (Gent) and Liege from London , The largest number of Belgian cities serviced from London in its network connection has Flixbus. Sometimes the coach that picks you up from your departure point has only the final destination displayed on the front windscreen. This is because the majority of European bus routes include multiple stops and it would be impractical to show every stop on the front windscreen. Also, you may have booked a journey which requires a change of coach. In both examples, please ask the driver to confirm that his/her coach is going to the destination stated on your ticket. All coach operators put the safety and comfort of passengers first, so the vehicles are equipped with a large number of safeguards. The operators are using modern vehicles with large panoramic windows and increased legroom.

The carrier provides service to any person who has purchased a ticket. Number of tickets for the designated route is limited to the number of seats. Having a valid ticket guarantees you use of the service (seat on the coach). Single and return tickets (with the indicated date and time) are for a specific journey, you cannot miss the departure because you will lose the ticket. Best to buy tickets well in advance. The carriers have many discounts for those who decide to purchase tickets in advance. Constant, although a slight discount is provided for youth, elderly and disabled people. Up to 50% discount is provided for children. Unless you get a good promotional fare, return fares are much cheaper than two single fares each way.

  • Before leaving home for your international bus service, check you have packed all documents and items needed for your journey, especially your ticket, passport (sometimes it is enough to travel with ID card) and if your journey requires a special visa to enter or transit.
  • Arrive at the Victoria Coach Station in London at least one hour before the departure time, as check-in proceedings are quite lengthy. Check-in commences one hour before departure and closes 15 minutes before to enable all customers to board and to ensure a prompt departure.
  • Your luggage should be marked tags bearing the name, address and telephone. Please weigh your luggage at home.
  • Never accept other person's luggage for transport! Should you notice any luggage left unattended, never touch it! Report the fact to the station’s service staff immediately. Never leave your luggage unattended!
  • When approaching the check-in desk, have your passport and ticket ready. This will streamline the procedure.
  • Border control & customs: When going through security check, place all metal items such as keys, watches, belts with large buckles, mobile phones, walkmans, small change etc in the boxes, and place them on the conveyor belt of the X-ray machine together with your hand luggage & suitcases. It is advisable to place your overcoats in the boxes. This will streamline and facilitate security control.
  • If needed, remember to take your doctor’s certificates.

Check-In at London Victoria Coach Station

Check in commences one hour before departure and closes 15 minutes before to enable all customers to board and to ensure a prompt departure. You should have your passports and other travel documents ready for inspection at check-in. A boarding card for each customer and luggage labels will be issued and customers will be advised from which gate their coach will leave. Check in time at other UK departure points is 30 minutes before departure. If the office for check-in is already closed, check-in takes place directly on the coach.

Check-In in Belgium

In Brussels North you check-in at one of the counters inside of the bus station. From all other Belgium departure points you check-in with the driver of the coach. You must check-in no later than 30 minutes before the departure time stated on your ticket. Check-in closes 15 minutes before departure. Once check-in is closed, we regret that boarding of the coach is not possible and your ticket will be invalid for travel. Services returning to London arrive in Victoria Coach Station’s Arrivals terminal, customers making onward coach connections will need to cross the street to the Departures terminal

Sea crossings

Once you get to Dover (for the ferry) or Folkestone (for the train) you’ll have to go through passport control – the driver or coach attendant will explain exactly where and when to get off. On entry at the ferry port or Eurotunnel terminal, customers will be required to disembark from the vehicle and pass through both UK and French Border Control offices and show their passports. In Folkestone and on board the ferry you can find a restaurant, shops, bars, cafes, arcade games and loads of sitting spaces – so you can keep well entertained for the 1 hour 30-minute crossing.

Will the international coach stop for a break? Of course, on the majority of services. All international coach operators provide refreshment breaks on longer journeys, especially overnight services. The European law obliges the driver to take a break every four and a half hours.

Carriage of luggage

All passengers must label their luggage which will be loaded into the hold of the coach and will normally remain there until arrival at the destination or interchange point. The coach driver will load and unload customers’ luggage, but customers are responsible for seeing their luggage onto and off the coach on which they are travelling. Each customer has a free luggage allowance of:

  • National Express : one or two medium sized suitcases, weighing no more than 20 kilograms each and one piece of hand luggage, which must be located on the shelf above your head or under the passenger seat.
  • Flixbus : one medium sized suitcase, weighing no more than 20 kilograms each and one piece of hand luggage (up to 7kg), which must be located on the shelf above your head or under the passenger seat.
  • Eurolines : On the majority of our Eurolines services, passengers are allowed to carry two checked baggage items (bags or suitcases) free of charge; each piece of luggage must not exceed 20 kg + hand luggage.

Our Accommodation page offers access to over one million verified accommodation reviews via Tripadvisor, allowing you to see what other people thought of a place before you book. And with rooms or hostel beds from as little as £3 per night, you can expect great value for money when you book with Europebus.

Travel insurance

The best way to protect against unexpected accidents is to buy travel insurance. In my opinion, so that the journey is stress-free, you should never travel without travel insurance. You can insure only for travel, it’s possible directly on the carriers' websites, during ticket purchase. You can also insure individually with another insurer. This will be the insurance that will apply during the journey and while in a foreign country. The insurance should cover: loss of cash and goods, cancellation of travel and medical treatment abroad. If you travel several times a year and want to save money, you may want to buy an annual insurance policy. Click here to buy insurance.

BlaBlaBus London Bruges recent customer reviews

Having never travelled to Bruges before, or via bus, we weren’t sure what to expect, but we would absolutely recommend BlaBlaBus! The driver was so lovely and really helpful guiding us when we got off at Bruges And felt a bit lost! I read some horrible reviews of this company online and was quite nervous but strongly oppose the reviews’ content! Treat the staff with respect and you’ll receive it tenfold, buses are very clearly labelled (and with the ease of stations such a Lon Victoria there is really no excuse for not finding it :/) a shame the shuttle was delayed hence our late arrival but absolutely out of the control of BlaBlaBus. Would travel without reservation again, fantastic value !

Excellent service and price

They should try to improve on their services. They should always be on time.because this is my fourth experiences with blablabus and it's not really encouraging.

Eurostar is the high-speed passenger train from London St Pancras to Brussels Midi through the Channel Tunnel.  Eurostar trains travel at up to 300 km/h (186 mph), it takes just 2 hours from central London to central Brussels, faster than flying as well as more comfortable, more convenient and more reliable.

Timetable inward 2024, notes for timetable.

There are no Eurostar services on Christmas Day and a reduced service on Boxing Day.  More about Eurostar .

Times may vary.  For connections to other destinations in Belgium use www.belgiantrain.be to find train times.

London to Brussels by Eurostar is 373 km (232 miles).

Ashford (Kent), Ebbsfleet:   Due to Brexit, Eurostars no longer call at Ashford or Ebbsfleet.

How much does it cost?

London to Brussels by Eurostar starts at £52 one-way or £78 return in standard class, £97 one-way, £140 return standard premier (1st class).

London to Any Belgian Station including Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, Liege starts at £62 one way or £98 return.

Fares vary dynamically like air fares, so book ahead and avoid busy days or dates for the cheapest prices.

Tip:   A through ticket to Any Belgian Station is usually cheaper than buying separate tickets for London to Bruges, but for London to Antwerp or Ghent it can be slightly cheaper to buy a Eurostar ticket to Brussels and a separate ticket for the onward Belgian train.  Check prices between Brussels & your Belgian destination at the Belgian Railways website www.belgiantrain.be/en and if it's cheaper, buy that ticket online.

How to buy tickets

Buy Eurostar tickets online at www.eurostar.com .

You print your ticket or can load it into the Eurostar app & show on your phone.  Fares vary dynamically like air fares so book ahead.  Booking opens up to 6 months ahead, sometimes up to 11 months.

For Brussels , select Brussels-Midi/Zuid.

For Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp or anywhere else in Belgium , type ' any ' and select Brussels-Midi/Zuid + Any Belgian Station ticket , see screenshot .

Tip:  You may find certain London-Brussels departures missing until 60 days before departure.

Eurostar trains that go through to Amsterdam may be kept closed for sale for Brussels passengers (in other words, will not be bookable (or may not appear) in search results if you search for London to Brussels) until 60 days before departure.  This is Eurostar policy to give London-Amsterdam passengers first bite at the cherry.  The solution, at least for a one-way outward journey, is to book from London to Amsterdam and get off in Brussels.

You can also book by phone, calling Eurostar on 03432 186 186 (+44 1233 617575 from outside the UK) but a phone booking fee will apply.  Tips on choosing a specific Eurostar seat .

Travel tips

Going to central Brussels?  Free train transfer to Brussels Central!

Eurostar arrives at Brussels Midi , also known as Brussel Zuid or Brussels South , it's all the same place.  However, all Eurostar tickets to or from Brussels Midi are automatically valid for a free transfer on any SNCB (Belgian Railways) domestic train between Brussels Midi and Brussels Central (5 minutes walk from the Grande Place), Brussels Nord, Brussels Congrès, Brussels Luxembourg (near the EU Parliament) and a dozen other local stations in the central Brussels area.  This is very useful, but not well publicised!  You can see this on the Eurostar website, but it takes some finding.

See list of Brussels area stations to which your Eurostar ticket is valid .

How to use an Any Belgian Station ticket

With a Eurostar ticket to Any Belgian Station (ABS) you can hop on any Belgian domestic train from Brussels to anywhere in Belgium within 24 hours of your Eurostar arrival in Brussels.  On the return leg, you can use any suitable train from your Belgian starting point to Brussels in the 24 hours before your Eurostar departure back to London.

When you use www.eurostar.com to book to/from Any Belgian Station, the times you see are for the Eurostar between London & Brussels.  You can check train times between Brussels and whatever Belgian station you want using www.belgiantrain.be .

No reservation is necessary for Belgian domestic trains, you just hop on any train you want.  It's not valid on high-speed Eurostar (formerly Thalys) trains or German high-speed ICE trains (not to be confused with Belgian or Dutch IC trains, which are fine).

In the outward direction it only takes a few minutes to change trains at Brussels Midi , and if you miss a train you can catch the next one.  In the inwards direction you need to allow for the minimum 30 minute Eurostar check-in, and it's sensible to allow for the Belgian domestic train to be a little late too, so I'd allow at least 60 minutes between the Belgian train arriving and your Eurostar departure time, ideally more.

And yes, with a Standard Premier (1st class for leisure) or Business Premier (1st class for business) ABS ticket you also get 1st class on the Belgian domestic part of the journey.  Even though with a Standard Premier ticket there's usually an asterisk in the class column.

Going to Bruges?

Buy a Eurostar ticket to Any Belgian Station .  When boarding a train for Bruges in Brussels, the departure indicators usually show Oostende , Knokke or Blankenberge as the destination of your train, Bruges is only a calling point so not always shown.  Remember that Bruges is Brugge in Flemish, Bruges in French, it's the same place.  Short breaks in Brussels or Bruges by train .

Tip:   You want the half-hourly Brussels-Bruges trains on the main line through Ghent taking around 1 hour.  Don't get on a stopping train to Bruges via Roesalere taking 2h16!

What are Eurostar trains like ?

Eurostar has 3 classes, Standard class , Standard Premier (1st class for leisure), and Business Premier (1st class for business).

Business Premier has flexible tickets, a hot meal served at your seat with alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks, access to business lounges in London & Brussels and a 10 minute minimum check-in.

Standard Premier offers exactly the same 1st class seating, but with more affordable inflexible fares, a cold tray meal served at your seat with complimentary alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks, a 30-minute minimum check-in in London, 45-minute minimum check-in in Brussels and no access to business lounges.

You'll find Eurostar trains smooth & quiet, even at 186 mph.  All passengers have access to two buffet-bar cars serving drinks & snacks.  Eurostar is all non-smoking.   For more about Eurostar, check-in process and journey, see the Eurostar guide .

Arriving at Brussels Midi

See Brussels Midi station guide .  Eurostar arrives at platforms 1 & 2, or if it's one that's going through to Amsterdam, platform 3 or 4.  It's Bruxelles Midi in French, Brussel Zuid in Flemish, Brussels South in English, all the same place.  Brussels Midi is a fairly easy 25 minute walk from the famous Grand Place (Grote Markt) in the city centre, or there are buses, taxis & a metro.  Your Eurostar ticket includes a free transfer by Belgian Railways train to Brussels Central , 3 minutes walk from the Grand Place.

To walk to the city centre, leave the station from the main doors on the Eurostar terminal (platform 1/2) side of the station, turn right, walk along the side of the station/tracks for a few minutes and then turn left along the Rue Stalingrad to central Brussels.

Left luggage facilities are available if you need them, open 24 hours.  When returning to London, remember the 45 minute Eurostar check-in.  Click here for a map of Brussels .  Bus, tram & metro information for Brussels (English selector top right).

Onward trains to Bruges & Ghent

Tip :  For Bruges or Ghent, look on the departure boards for a train shown as going to either Oostende, Knokke or Blankenberge as these are the trains which stop at Bruges & Ghent.  And remember that Bruges is Brugge in Flemish and Ghent is Gand in French.  In Bruges, you want the main station, usually shown as plain 'Bruges', not the little local station called Bruges St Pieters.  However, just to confuse you, in Ghent the main station is called Ghent St Pieters .  All clear?  Great!

Option 2, London to Brussels by train & ferry

For over a century, the traditional direct route from London to Brussels was via Dover & Oostende. However, there have been no ferries from Dover to Oostende since the 1990s.  But there's still an alternative to Eurostar worth considering, especially if you live in East Anglia, or have a phobia about the Channel Tunnel, with easy train-ferry connections at each end, and inclusive fares covering train & ferry.  It's overnight while you sleep in a cosy private cabin with shower, toilet & satellite TV, so it's actually pretty time-effective, it's also punctual, all-weather-reliable and fun, too!  This route is also pet-friendly & bike-friendly .

London ► Antwerp & Brussels

Day 1, take the 18:45 train from London Liverpool Street to Harwich International, see the Stena Line Rail & Sail page for details .

There's also a direct train from Cambridge & Ipswich to Harwich International, leaving Cambridge at 19:47.

At Harwich International the train arrives right at the ferry terminal.  You walk off the train and into the ferry terminal, check in for the ferry and walk onto the ship.  Unlike flying, it's totally painless.  It's a breeze, even compared to queuing for Eurostar at St Pancras.

Day 1, sail from Harwich to Hoek van Holland by Stena Line superferry , she sails at 23:00 arriving Hoek van Holland at 08:00 Dutch time.

You can board from around 21:00 in time for a late dinner in the restaurant.  The ship is a floating hotel, all passengers have a private cabin with toilet, shower, satellite TV & free WiFi, an excellent and highly recommended experience.  When the ship arrives at Hoek van Holland next morning, the metro station is just across the road from the ferry terminal.

Day 2, take the RET metro from Hoek van Holland Haven to Beurs, this runs every 20-30 minutes, journey time 30 minutes.  At Beurs, change onto metro line D or E and go 2 stops to Rotterdam Centraal , see metro map .

Alternatively, if you feel like a morning stroll, get off at Eendrachtsplein and walk 850m 10-minutes to Rotterdam Centraal , see walking map .

Day 2, travel from Rotterdam to Belgium by Intercity train, leaving Rotterdam Centraal 10:11, arriving Antwerp Centraal 11:16, Brussels Midi 12:17.

See the Stena Line Rail & Sail page for full details between London or Cambridge & Rotterdam.

Brussels & Antwerp ► London

Day 1, take the 17:45 InterCity train from Brussels Midi or 18:44 from Antwerp Centraal, arriving Rotterdam Centraal 19:49.

By all means leave Brusses on the previous train at 16:45 or Antwerp at 17:44 to board the ferry earlier, trains link Rotterdam Centraal with Antwerp & Brussels Midi every hour, check times at www.nsinternational.nl .

Day 1, now take the RET metro line D/E from Rotterdam Centraal to Beurs and change onto metro line B to Hoek van Holland, see metro map .  Metro trains to Hoek van Holland run every 20-30 minutes, journey time from Beurs around 30 minutes.

Or you can walk walk from Rotterdam Centraal to Eendrachtsplein metro station, an easy 10 minutes 850m, see walking map , then take metro line B direct to Hoek van Holland Haven, it runs every 20-30 minutes, journey time 30 minutes.

Day 1, sail overnight from Hoek van Holland to Harwich by Stena Line superferry , sailing at 22:00 and arriving in Harwich at 06:30 UK time.

You can board from around 20:00 onwards, in time for dinner in the restaurant before retiring to your private en suite cabin.  All passengers get a private cabin with toilet, shower, satellite TV & free WiFi.  An excellent experience.

At Harwich, you walk down the gangway, through passport control and onto the adjacent railway station.

Day 2, travel from Harwich to London by train, arriving London Liverpool Street at around 08:56.

There's also a direct train from Harwich to Ipswich & Cambridge, arriving Cambridge at 09:42 Mondays-Saturdays or 10:39 on Sundays.

See the Stena Line Rail & Sail page for full details between Rotterdam & London or Cambridge.

London to Hoek van Holland starts at £62 with a Stena Line Rail & Sail ticket covering train & ferry.

This covers train travel from London Liverpool Street or any Greater Anglia railway station (including Norwich, Cambridge, Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Chelmsford and so on) to Harwich and the ferry to Hoek van Holland.

You need to add the cost of a cabin, from £50 for a single cabin, £56 for a 2-bed cabin, see the Stena Line Rail & Sail page for details .

Hoek van Holland to Rotterdam by metro costs around €4.

Rotterdam to Brussels by Intercity train costs €38.70 full-flex even bought on the day, good for any IC train, or from €18 if you book a few days or weeks in advance, only good for the specific departure you choose.

High-speed Eurostar (formerly Thalys) trains also run on this route, but they're less frequent, more expensive and tickets are only good for the specific train you book.  I'd stick with the hourly IC trains.

Step 1, buy a Rail & Sail ticket from London or any Greater Anglia station to Hoek van Holland at www.stenaline.co.uk/rail-and-sail/to-holland .  See the Stena Line Rail & Sail page for full details & tips on how to buy tickets .  You print your own ticket.

You pay for the metro between Hoek van Holland & Rotterdam simply by touching in & out with any contactless bank card, or buy as shown here .

Step 2, buy an onward ticket from Rotterdam to Antwerp or Brussels www.nsinternational.nl .  You print your own ticket.

What's the journey like?

Step 1, London to Hoek van Holland by train & ferry.   An air-conditioned train whisks you from London Liverpool Street station directly to the ferry terminal at Harwich International.  You walk off the train, into the terminal, get your boarding card & cabin key at the Stena Line check-in desk and walk straight onto the overnight ferry to Hoek van Holland, sleeping in a cosy private cabin.  The superferries Stena Britannica & Stena Hollandica are the largest ferries of their kind in the world.  The journey from London to Rotterdam is explained in detail on the Stena Line Rail & Sail page .  See the video .

The Stena Britannica at boarding at Harwich, a floating hotel with private cabins, restaurant, bar, lounges, shop & kennels.

Above left, a standard outside cabin.  Larger photo .   360º photo .  Above right, the Stena Plus lounge with complimentary red & white wine, tea, coffee & snacks.

Above left, the bar on 9 deck. Above right, a Captain's Class cabin with complimentary minibar, toilet & shower.

Step 2, Hoek van Holland to Rotterdam by metro.   Air-conditioned metro trains link Hoek van Holland with Eendrachtsplein & Beurs stations in downtown Rotterdam every 20-30 minutes, journey time around 30 minutes, either get off at Eendrachtsplein and stroll 10 minutes to Rotterdam Centraal , or change at Beurs onto metro line D/E and go 2 stops to Rotterdam Centraal .

Step 3, Rotterdam to Belgium by train.   Take the hourly Intercity train from Rotterdam Centraal to Antwerp Centraal & Brussels Midi .  Rotterdam Centraal was rebuilt in 2014, and is now one of the most impressive modern stations around - it's worth wandering into the main hall and onto the forecourt to admire it.  The lovely Centraal Station lettering and clock on the front is taken from the previous 1957 building.

Short breaks to Brussels or Bruges

The historic city of Bruges makes a truly excellent short break destination from the UK - better in my opinion than Brussels, although both cities are worth the trip.  You can find short breaks to Bruges or Brussels combining Eurostar and hotel at:

www.railbookers.co.uk , call 0207 864 4600 .  Railbookers also offer Christmas Market breaks by train.

Byway.travel , a UK-based eco-holiday firm with a 5-star TrustPilot rating .  To see preconfigured packages to Ghent or Brussels, use the journey planner on their website .  Alternatively they can build a trip to your requirements, email them or use the contact form .  Please say you heard about them from Seat 61.

www.lastminute.com ;

London to Ypres (Ieper)

To reach what British soldiers knew as 'Wipers', first book Eurostar to Lille at www.eurostar.com .  On arrival at Lille Europe , walk to 500m to Lille Flandres station .  An hourly regional train runs from Lille to Kortrijk (the final destination of this train is usually Antwerp/Anvers), change at Kortrijk for the branch line to Ypres (Ieper) and Poperinge.  As the fare is fixed and you don't need a reservation, you can easily buy the Lille to Ypres ticket at the station in Lille when you get there.  Total journey time from Lille to Ypres is about 1h55.  You can check train times from Lille to Ypres at the Belgian railways website, www.belgiantrain.be .

London to Antwerp, Ghent or anywhere else in Belgium

If you buy a Eurostar ticket to Any Belgian Station , it's valid by Eurostar to Brussels and then by any suitable connecting train service from Brussels to anywhere in Belgium as long as you complete the journey within 24 hours of the Eurostar arriving in Brussels.  You can't use high-speed Eurostar (formerly Thalys) or ICE trains, but Belgian InterCity (IC) trains are fine.

In the inbound direction, you can travel from anywhere in Belgium to Brussels on any suitable train except Eurostar (formerly Thalys) or ICE high-speed trains within the 24 hours before your Eurostar departure from Brussels to London.  Again, InterCity (IC) trains are fine.  Trains generally run hourly or half-hourly between Brussels and all main Belgian cities, no reservation is necessary, you just hop on and find any empty seat.

A ticket to Any Belgian Station costs £10 more one-way or £20 more return than a Eurostar ticket to Brussels, in other words, from £98 return in standard class, which is extremely good value.  In first class, it costs £16 one-way or £32 return more than the price of a Standard Premier or Business Premier ticket to Brussels.

Beware of out-of-date advice .  Until 2010, a Eurostar ticket to Brussels was automatically valid to any station in Belgium, a fantastic deal for passengers, less fantastic for Belgian Railways who received no revenue from this.  The arrangement ceased in October 2010, and there are now two separate destinations shown on the Eurostar website, Brussels if you just want Brussels itself and Any Belgian Station if you want to travel beyond Brussels, the latter priced higher than Brussels.  Incidentally, a ticket to Brussels still allows a free train transfer from Brussels Midi to Brussels Central, Brussels Nord, and several other central Brussels stations ( see the travel tip above ), but no longer to any station in Belgium.

You can use the online timetable at int.bahn.de or www.belgiantrain.be to check train times.  Allow at least 20 minutes in Brussels to make a connection on the outward journey, and 45 minutes (preferably more) on the return to allow for the 30-minute Eurostar check-in.

Advice on changing trains at Brussels Midi station .  Remember that Antwerp can also be written as Anvers .  Bruges can also be written Brugge .

Other UK cities to Belgium

There are special tickets to London International CIV from most UK stations which have better terms and conditions specially designed for connecting with Eurostar:  Buy a special add-on ticket from almost any station in Britain to London International (St Pancras) .

East Anglia to Brussels by train & ferry

If you live in East Anglia, a convenient, affordable and time-effective option is to use the overnight Harwich to Hoek van Holland luxury superferry, see the section above .

Devon & Cornwall to Brussels by sleeper & Eurostar

You can take the overnight Night Riviera sleeper train from Cornwall, Plymouth, Newton Abbott or Exeter to London Paddington, take the Underground to St Pancras, then hop on a Eurostar to Brussels, see the Sleeper to Cornwall page for details .

Scotland to Brussels by sleeper & Eurostar

You can take the overnight Caledonian Sleeper from Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh,, Glasgow and many other Scottish town and cities to London Euston, walk to St Pancras, then hop on a Eurostar to Brussels, see the Caledonian Sleepers page for details .

G uidebooks

Take a good guidebook, even in the age of the internet!  For the independent traveller, I think this means either the Lonely Planet or the Rough Guide.  I personally prefer the layout of the Lonely Planet, but others prefer the Rough Guide.  Both guidebooks provide the same excellent level of practical information and historical background.  You won't regret buying one!

Hotels in Belgium

Hotels near brussels midi.

I f you need a decent inexpensive hotel close to Brussels Midi station where Eurostar arrives, go for the dependable Ibis Brussels Midi just across the road or for something a little more upmarket the Pullman Hotel Brussels Midi is part of the station complex itself.  I have stayed at both, and can recommend.

Hotels in the centre of Brussels

How about staying on the famous Grand Place itself?  In the mid-range, the Résidence Le Quinze Grand Place gets rave reviews and overlooks Brussels' famous central square.

If you really want to push the boat out, the Rocco Forte Hotel Amigo is top end and scores 9/10, right near the Grand Place.

You can stay next to the Grand Place relatively cheaply, too, at the Hotel Agora Grand Place also with great reviews.

All these hotels near the Grand Place are just a few minutes walk from Brussels Central station .

In Bruges:  Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce

If you can afford it and for somewhere really special, go for the Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce , a luxurious and romantic boutique-style hotel in a fabulous location on the canal and within easy walking distance of all the sights.  My own stay here was a delight, and Mrs 61 was particularly impressed to be sharing the breakfast room with the lead guitarist from Pink Floyd.

Backpacker hostels: www.hostelworld.com

www.hostelworld.com :  If you're on a tight budget, don't forget about backpacker hostels.  Hostelworld offers online booking of cheap private rooms or dorm beds in backpacker hostels in Paris and most other European cities at rock-bottom prices.

Travel insurance & other tips

Always take out travel insurance.

You should take out travel insurance with at least £1m or preferably £5m medical cover from a reliable insurer.  It should cover trip cancellation and loss of cash & belongings up to a reasonable limit.  These days, check you're covered for covid-19-related issues, and use an insurer whose cover isn't invalidated by well-meant but excessive Foreign Office travel advice against non-essential travel. An annual policy is usually cheapest even for just 2 or 3 trips a year, I have an annual policy with Staysure.co.uk myself.  Don't expect travel insurance to bail you out of every missed connection, see the advice on missed connections here .  Here are some suggested insurers, I get a little commission if you buy through these links, feedback always welcome.

UK flag

Get an eSIM with mobile data package

Don't rely on WiFi, download an eSIM with a European mobile data package and stay connected.  Most newer mobile phones can download a virtual SIM including iPhone 11 & later, see device compatibility list .  There's no need to buy a physical SIM card!  Maya.net is a reliable eSIM data retailer with a 4.5 out of 5 Trustpilot rating and a range of packages including unlimited data .

Get a Curve card for foreign travel

Most banks give you a poor exchange rate then add a foreign transaction fee on top.  A Curve MasterCard means no foreign transaction fees and gives you the mid-market exchange rate, at least up to a certain limit, £500 per month as I write this.  The money you spend on your Curve card goes straight onto one of your existing debit or credit cards.  And you can get a Curve card for free.

How it works:   1. Download the Curve app for iPhone or Android .  2. Enter your details & they'll send you a Curve MasterCard - they send to the UK and most European addresses.  3. Link your existing credit & debit cards to the app, you can link up to two cards with the free version of Curve, I link my normal debit card and my normal credit card.  4. Now use the Curve MasterCard to buy things online or in person or take cash from ATMs, exactly like a normal MasterCard. Curve does the currency conversion and puts the balance in your own currency onto whichever debit or credit card is currently selected in the Curve app.  You can even change your mind about which card it goes onto, within 14 days of the transaction.

I have a Curve Blue card myself, it means I can buy a coffee on a foreign station on a card without being stung by fees and lousy exchange rates, just by tapping the Curve card on their card reader.  The money goes through Curve to my normal debit card and is taken directly from my account (in fact I have the Curve card set up as payment card on Apple Pay on my iPhone, so can double-click my phone, let it do Face ID then tap the reader with the phone - even easier than getting a card out).  I get a little commission if you sign up to Curve, but I recommend it here because I think it's great.  See details, download the app and get a Curve card , they'll give you £5 cashback through that link.

Get a VPN for safe browsing.  Why you need a VPN

When travelling you may use free public WiFi which is often insecure.  A VPN encrypts your connection so it's always secure, even on unsecured WiFi.  It also means you can select the geographic location of the IP address you browse with, to get around geoblocking which a surprising number of websites apply.  See VPNs & why you need one explained .  ExpressVPN is a best buy with a 4.7 out of 5 Trustpilot ranking which I use myself - I've signed up as an ExpressVPN affiliate, and if you go with expressvpn.com using this link you should see a special deal, 3 months free with an annual subscription.  I also get some commission to help support this site.

Carry an Anker powerbank

Tickets, reservations, hotel bookings and Interrail or Eurail passes are often now held on your mobile phone.  You daren't let it run out of power, and you can't always rely on the phone's internal battery or on being near a power outlet.  I always carry an Anker powerbank which can recharge my phone several times over.  Buy from Amazon.co.uk or Buy from Amazon.com .

Touring cities?  Use hill walking shoes!

One of the best things I've done is swap my normal shoes for hill-walking shoes, in my case from Scarpa.  They're intended for hiking across the Pennines not wandering around Florence, but the support and cushioning for hiking works equally well when you're on your feet all day exploring foreign cities.  My feet used to give out first and limit my day, now the rest of me gives up before they do!

Getting cheap tickets to Brussels

Waffles, fries, chocolate and beer – Brussels is a foodie’s dream, but there’s also a lot more to consume in the city than just food. With cheap coach tickets one-way, you can enjoy travel to the continent for less. Even if you’re only booking three days in advance, you could enjoy extra discounts if you’re able to be flexible with journey times.

Please see our timetables page  for more information.

Where to eat

Noordzee / Mer du Nord

Here you’ll find cheap fresh seafood served unpretentiously from a fishmonger’s window. There’s limited sit-down eating but the minimalist approach, speedy service and delicious food means that there’s often a (fast-moving) queue. People-watching whilst standing up to eat your moules-frites at one of their outdoor tables – washed down with a glass of wine of course – is a quintessentially Belgian thing to do.

Maison Antoine

They’re not ‘chips’, they’re frites. Get yourself to Maison Antoine’s frikot (kiosk) to tuck into Brussels’ best. Served with sauce splashed over the top, choose from mostly mayonnaise-based variants, including andalouse – a Belgian specialty flavoured with tomatoes and red peppers.

Us Brits aren’t the only Europeans to appreciate afternoon tea as part of our culture. Wittamer opened in 1910 and continues to offer beautiful patisserie as well as chocolate – they’ve even baked a wedding cake for the Belgian royal family. Make sure to try their hot chocolate drink alongside a traditional sugary waffle.

Where to drink

Escape to the Impasse de la Fidélité

With sister bars Delirium Café and Floris, the choice of beers or absinthe is yours. Delirium is home to over 3,000 beers and, for those who normally favour a G&T, Floris offers a spirit called jenever; gin’s older and more traditional Belgian cousin that is also distilled with juniper berries.

Head to St Catherine for music (and drinks)

If you’re bored of beer, the bartenders at L’Archiduc (founded in 1937) are well-known for their classic cocktails, accompanied by live jazz at the weekends. Or make some shapes and be a little more debauched at Madame Moustache, a chic bar-slash-club also near Place Saint Catherine.

...Or go straight to the source

Maybe sipping from a pint tapped fresh from the keg is on your agenda? Then head to the face of the modern brewing scene in Belgium, Brussels Beer Project, which has own-brand craft beers and ales on tap at its urban brewery. For genever, (a Belgian spirit flavoured with juniper, much like gin), visit the Fovel Distillery, founded in 1864 and the last one active in the region.

Where to shop

Galeries Royales St Hubert

Europe’s oldest shopping arcade sits in the centre of town. The magnificent interior makes for an Instagram-worthy shot and you can treat yourself and splurge a little on luxury chocolates or high-end accessories.

With a trail of irresistible trendy boutiques throughout the neighbourhood, you’ll be able to pick out some chic pieces of fashion from stores such as Icon, an airy concept store, or Stijl which is well-stocked with the best of Antwerp fashion design.

Planète Chocolat

Not just for buying and eating, at Planète Chocolat you can also learn the secrets of artisan chocolate-making. Visit for their workshop demonstration of how to produce pralines and the renowned Belgian chocolate.

Top tourist attractions

Manneken Pis

Whilst Brussels is home to the EU’s lawmakers, a defiant bronze statue of a little boy urinating into a fountain is one of the more rebellious landmarks in Europe. You can even visit the Garderobe MannekenPis, a museum dedicated to the statue’s fancy dress wardrobe, with the oldest example dated from the seventeenth century. And if that tickled your sense of humour, also check out Jeanneke-Pis and Zinneke-Pis.

Musée Fin-de-Siécle Museum

Translating to ‘Turn-of-the-Century’, this unique museum celebrates the breadth of art that was created between 1868 (when the Free Society of Fine Arts was founded in Brussels), and the start of World War I in 1914. Showcasing works by many famous artists, it also neighbours with the Magritte Museum, and the Musée Oldmasters, all along Rue de Regence.

Set your sights at the Atomium

After you’ve all had a giggle at Manneken Pis, whisk yourself up to the Atomium, a museum once named as Europe’s most bizarre building. Shaped like “the unit cell of an iron crystal”, you’ll find exhibitions and viewing platforms inside the spheres, and escalators in the tubes between them. Kids under 12 go free with a paying adult.

Things to do for kids

Take them to the Comic Book Centre

Belgium is big on comics, inventing iconic characters such as The Smurfs and Tintin. Walk through a literally step-by-step exhibition of the stages of how to create a comic, and catch yourself a break watching some old-school classics.

Whizz around all of Europe

Mini-Europe that is. Brussels is home to a homage of Europe’s iconic buildings and monuments – roughly 80 cities and 350 building have been recreated at 1:25 scale. These sit alongside live action models of trains, mills and an erupting Mount Vesuvius. You can also enjoy the interactive games at the end inside the ‘Spirit of Europe’ exhibition.

The best ways to get from Heathrow Airport into London

MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers.

After a long flight to London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR), you’ll probably want the easiest possible plan to get to the hotel and relax before taking in the United Kingdom capital’s world-renowned landmarks.

Heathrow is in Greater London. It’s roughly 16 miles from Central London, where you’ll find the London Eye, the South Bank of the River Thames, the shopping haven of Covent Garden and the famously frenetic Oxford Street, as well as plenty of luxury and points-friendly hotels.

Related: Watch us race to London Heathrow by cab, Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth Line

There are many ways to reach Central London and elsewhere in the city from Heathrow, including taxis, the Tube, a dedicated train service called Heathrow Express and the new, unmistakably purple Elizabeth Line. The best option to get from Heathrow into London depends on what you’re looking for — a low price, ease, speediness, or ample space for luggage.

Here are the best options for traveling from Heathrow to London, so you can start your trip off on the right foot.

London Underground (aka the Tube)

Heathrow is conveniently located on the Piccadilly Line, one of several Tube lines that make up the London Underground. The popular service — run by Transport for London — connects the airport to plenty of Central London locations. So, you may not have to transfer once you’ve made it to the city center.

Taking the Tube from the airport is likely the cheapest option. However, it may not be the most comfortable if you’re weighed down by myriad heavy suitcases, or you’re traveling during peak commuter hours.

Depart from: Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3, 4 and 5 Underground stations.

Possible destinations: The Piccadilly Line directly serves, among other stops, Hammersmith, Gloucester Road, South Kensington, Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Holborn and King’s Cross St. Pancras.

When does it run? Typically you can expect Tubes from all terminals from around 5 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.; nighttime services from Terminals 2 and 3 stations and the Terminal 5 station run on Fridays and Saturdays. Check the timetable here .

Transit time: It depends on where you’re headed, but from Terminal 5, it takes approximately 50 minutes to reach Piccadilly Circus or an hour to reach King’s Cross St. Pancras.

Estimated cost: Single journeys to destinations in Zone 1 (such as Piccadilly and King’s Cross) cost 5.60 British pounds ($7) if you pay contactless or with an Oyster card. Buying a ticket to Central London at a machine will cost around 6.70 British pounds ($8.29) per person. Children under 11 travel free with a fare-paying adult.

If you’re going outside of Zone 1 (such as to Hammersmith, in Zone 2), then you’re looking at a smaller fare of 2.10 British pounds ($2.60) to 3.40 British pounds ($4.21) depending on travel time.

Paying for your trip: To pay for your tube journey or get a ticket, you have several options. The most convenient method is to pay using your contactless card by touching it on the yellow card readers found at Tube entrances or before the platforms.

You can also tap in on the yellow card readers using a prepaid Oyster card. You can buy them at all Tube, Overground and most Elizabeth Line stations for 7 British pounds ($8.69). They’re also available at most newsstands and visitor centers throughout London. Once you’ve purchased your Oyster, you can use the ticket machines inside Underground stations to add money to the card for individual journeys or a daily or weekly travel card covering various Zones.

Note the card readers aren’t always connected to gates and are sometimes free-standing. Keep an eye out for them. If you don’t tap in and out at the start and end of your journey, you’ll get charged for traveling through Zones 1 to 9.

Alternatively, you can buy paper tickets from the ticket machines at each Tube, Overground or DLR station. These tickets allow for one-way and return journeys or daily and weekly travel cards. To use the tickets, insert them in the signposted areas on the gates as you head to the line you’re traveling on.

Some stations will also have a staffed kiosk that you can use instead of ticket machines; you can ask for advice here on the best tickets to buy or routes to take.

Elizabeth Line

Opened in 2022, the Elizabeth Line (also run by TfL) is a swift option for traveling into Central London from LHR. It strikes a nice balance of price and efficiency. While not as cheap as the Tube, the trains are newer, roomier and air-conditioned, and they have Wi-Fi. Like the Heathrow Express, these trains stop in Paddington, but there are other destination options, too. It takes a bit longer than the Heathrow Express, but it’s also more affordable.

Depart from: Terminals 2 and 3, 4 and 5 railway stations.

Possible destinations: The Elizabeth Line travels direct from Heathrow to Abbey Wood — serving Paddington, Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool Street, and Canary Wharf. See the full map on TfL’s website here. There are no longer direct services between Canary Wharf and Terminal 5 except for some early morning and late evening services. Trains arriving at Heathrow from Canary terminate at Terminal 4.

When does it run? Times vary by terminal and whether you’re transiting on a weekday or weekend. Typically, the first trains leave between 5:15 a.m. and 6:05 a.m., while the last trains leave the airport between 11:46 p.m. and 12.13 a.m. Find specific timings here.

Transit time: It depends on where you’re headed. It takes about 35 minutes from Terminal 5 station to Paddington or about 45 minutes from Terminal 2 and 3 stations to Liverpool Street.

Estimated cost :  Heathrow’s website claims any journey to or from the airport that starts or ends in Zone 1 costs 12.80 British pounds ($15.83) per person. Whether you use contactless payment or Oyster, TfL’s single fare finder shows a single journey from Terminal 5 to Paddington on the Elizabeth Line costs 12.20 British pounds ($15). A journey from Terminals 2 and 3 stations to Liverpool Street costs 13.30 British pounds ($16.45).

However, these prices apply to contactless payments or Oyster payments only. Buying a paper ticket via the ticket machines in stations will cost you a small amount more — as discovered by TPG recently when we paid 14.30 British pounds for an off-peak ticket from Liverpool Street to Heathrow via the Elizabeth Line. Generally speaking, although the savings are only minor, it’s better to pay for your travel by contactless or Oyster card.

Children under the age of 11 travel free with a fare-paying adult.

Heathrow Express

Heathrow Express will be the fastest way to get from Heathrow to Paddington Station. It’s a direct train, so there are no extra stops along the way. Also, there are luggage racks and plugs for charging phones, which is always handy. For onward journeys, Paddington is well connected to multiple Tube lines. The downside is that the Heathrow Express can be expensive compared to other rail options.

Depart from: Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3 station and Terminal 5 railway station. You’ll need to take a free connecting shuttle service to the station if you land in Terminal 4.

Possible destinations: Paddington Station. For an extra cost, you can change to the Tube lines Bakerloo, Circle, District, Hammersmith & City or the Elizabeth Line.

When does it run? Typically from 5:10 a.m. until around 12 a.m., though it can vary. Trains run every 15 minutes. See the full Heathrow Express timetable here.

Transit time: 15 minutes to Paddington from Terminals 2 and 3 station or 20 minutes from Terminal 5 station.

Estimated cost: Typically, a single Heathrow Express journey from Paddington to Heathrow costs 25 pounds ($31) per person though you sometimes can pay less if you book in advance. If you’re from Great Britain and have a National Railcard, this price could drop down to 16.50 British pounds.

If you don’t have a National Railcard or are not from Great Britain, you can sometimes find discounts online by searching for Heathrow Express vouchers or coupon codes you can use when booking online.

While the Heathrow Express can be a more expensive rail option, it may be a better deal than it seems for families since children under 15 travel free with a fare-paying adult.

If you are returning to the airport within one month of your ticket, then an anytime ticket may be cheaper overall at 37 British pounds ($45.76) or 24.40 British pounds with a National Railcard.

If public transport doesn’t appeal to you, or you’re landing in the middle of the night when no public transportation is operating, you can use Uber to get to and from Heathrow and Central London. Naturally, you’ll pay more than you would for a Tube ride or train ticket.

Depart from: Terminal 2, 3, 4 or 5’s short-stay parking lot. The app will tell you where to go once you’ve requested a ride and your driver is confirmed, but typically pick-up spots will be here:

  • Terminal 2 — Level 4, Row H (Short Stay Car Park 2).
  • Terminal 3 — Level 3, Row A (Short Stay Car Park 3).
  • Terminal 4 — Level 1, Private Hire Pickup.
  • Terminal 5 — Level 1, Row R (Short Stay Car Park 5).

Possible destinations: Direct service wherever you like, which can be a benefit with luggage and tired kids.

When does it run? In theory, you can get an Uber at any time.

Transit time: Varies depending on traffic, destination and other factors. (Pay attention to rush hour and commuting times.) As a rough guide, it typically takes around 50 minutes to reach Paddington by car or one hour to reach Piccadilly Circus from Terminal 5 (on a good day). This means it isn’t necessarily the quickest option during many times of the day as the Heathrow Express makes that trip to Paddington in just 15 minutes.

Estimated cost: The cost of an Uber depends on traffic, your destination and other factors. As an example, it can cost 59 British pounds ($73) from Terminal 5 to Paddington or 63 British pounds ($78) to Piccadilly Circus – both UberX rides, excluding tips.

If you’re traveling in a group of more than four or have more than a small suitcase or two, you’ll likely need a bigger car. Expect to pay more for an Uber Lux or Comfort journey.

Taxis (including black cabs, WeKnow and Addison Lee)

Beyond Uber, numerous other options exist for getting a taxi into London from Heathrow. Options include hailing an iconic London black cab at the taxi rank, pre-booking an electric car from Heathrow’s private hire transfer service WeKnow or arranging a car from a company such as Addison Lee.

The latter two options provide a meet-and-greet service to help get you and your luggage straight into the car. Addison Lee also requires your flight number at booking, which means the company can adjust your ride in case of a delay. Again, this type of transfer will cost you more than rail services.

Depart from: The relevant taxi rank outside Terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5 for a black cab. For another service, the pick-up location will be specified in your booking, or your driver will meet you at the terminal.

Possible destinations: Again, wherever you’d like.

When does it run? In theory, you should be able to arrange a taxi or car transfer anytime.

Transit time: Varies depending on traffic, destination and other factors. From Terminal 5, it typically takes about 50 minutes by car to Paddington or one hour to Piccadilly Circus. Although, Addison Lee estimates it’ll take one hour and 10 minutes for a journey to Paddington around 6 p.m.

Estimated cost: This will vary, depending on the type of taxi you go for, among other considerations such as traffic. Some estimates are below.

  • Black cab: The meter will start running when your ride begins. TfL, which manages London’s black cabs, says a Heathrow to Central London journey can range from 52 pounds ($64.31) to 97 pounds ($120). Find out more about black cab fares here .
  • WeKnow: Prices are fixed, so you’ll know what you pay when you book. A trip from Terminal 5 to Paddington or Piccadilly Circus costs 70 pounds ($86.57) to 94 pounds ($116.25) depending on the car size you need. A meet-and-greet service costs 14.99 pounds ($18.54) extra. Use WeKnow’s calculator to work out your exact journey price.
  • Addison Lee: Prices are fixed, so you’ll know the price when you book. A sample Terminal 5 to Paddington journey (leaving ASAP) was quoted online as 94.32 pounds ($116.66) or up to 122 pounds ($150.89), depending on the car size needed. The meet-and-greet is included in both prices. For an exact quote, visit Addison Lee’s website and input your flight number and journey details.

Coach (including National Express and Megabus)

Coaches operated by National Express and Megabus drop you off at Victoria Coach Station. They’re usually inexpensive and often have Wi-Fi and phone charging points. They can also carry your luggage in the hold – check Megabus limits  and National Express limits .

However, buses are not the fastest way to reach Central London. How long they take depends on traffic, time of day and other factors.

Depart from: Heathrow Central Bus Station between Terminals 2 and 3 is the quickest departure point for both National Express and Megabus coaches. If you leave Terminal 4, take the free shuttle to the bus station. You can also alight a coach from Terminal 5 (look for arrivals level stops 13, 14 and 15 for Megabus).

Possible destinations: Victoria Coach Station. From there, it is a short walk to the Victoria Line at Victoria Station; the line stops at Green Park, Oxford Circus, Warren Street and King’s Cross (at an extra cost).

When does it run? National Express coaches usually run throughout the day, with a service gap between 1 a.m. and 3.45 a.m. Check the exact timetable for your route here. You can find out more about Megabus times on its website.

Transit time: From Terminals 2 and 3, National Express coaches take anywhere from 55 minutes to one hour and 20 minutes to reach Victoria Coach Station, depending on the time of day you travel. Megabus lists transit times of 45 and 55 minutes for the same journey.

From Terminal 5, National Express coaches can take anywhere from one hour and 20 minutes to one hour and 35 minutes.

Estimated cost: For National Express coaches, a single journey starts from 6 pounds ($7.42) per person. For Megabus coaches , a single journey starts from 8 British pounds ($9.89).

Other travel options

You can take local bus 285 from Heathrow Central Bus Station (serving Terminals 2 and 3) to Feltham train station. It’s 16 stops away. From there, you can hop on a 30-or-45-minute train to Waterloo via Clapham Junction.

London bus “hopper fares” cost 1.75 British pounds ($2.16), and train tickets start from 8.60 pounds ($10.64) per person. This option is on the cheaper side. However, it’s very long-winded, especially since you can reach Waterloo Station from Paddington via the Bakerloo Line and the Piccadilly Line (with a change to Jubilee Line at Green Park).

For those traveling somewhere in Greater London, rather than Central London, there are several local bus routes from the airport. View them here.

Bottom line

The best way to get from Heathrow Airport to London depends on your budget, your amount of luggage, and how much time and hassle you are willing to invest in the journey.

If you want to avoid street traffic and save money, the Elizabeth Line and Tube are our top picks. If speed is your primary concern, it’s hard to ignore the Heathrow Express. Need to get away from dragging luggage around or just want the absolutely simplest path from Point A to B? Consider an Uber or taxi.
