Wadi rum jeep tour with a local bedouin.

The quickest way to uncover the wonders of this enchanting desert landscape in Wadi Rum, is to try the classic jeep tour. With a two day desert tour, there is enough time to see the most scenic sites, including some that are more off the beaten track. Your will be guided by a local bedouin expert. In the Escape camp, you will enjoy in traditional meals and bedouin music.

Day one jeep tour.

You will be starting from Wadi Rum village with your guide in the jeep.  We will have water and food with us for the jeep tours. The guide will explain each place you visit along the way today.

The first site you will visit is the Nabatean temple. Then you will head through the small village and into the Wadi Rum protected area where your next stop will be at Lawrence’s Spring. Next, you will go to enjoy the large Red Sand Dunes piled up against the mountains. After this, you will head to the narrow Khazali Canyon to see the ancient rock inscriptions. Next we drive to the Little Arch, a natural formation where you can have a photo taken on top of the arch. From here we move on to Lawrence’s house which is a Nabatean era stone building remains. Your guide will then find a nice shaded spot for lunch break where you can relax a bit, eat and enjoy tea.

Following lunch you will visit more interesting places in the desert.  The guide will drive you to the Mushroom Rock which is a large natural formation.  Then you will go to the Burdah Rock Bridge where you can see the formation at the top of the mountains. After this you will head to Abu Khashabah canyon where you can take a walk through the cool, beautiful canyon. Then your guide will drive you to the Um Frouth Rock Bridge where you can climb to the top. This is a great spot to take photos. 

Now it is time for the sunset.  Your guide will take you to the Um Sabata area, which we think is the best place for viewing the magnificent sunset in Wadi Rum.  While enjoying the sunset you will sip the bedouin tea made over the fire.  Then he will drive you back to our camp .

Upon arrival to the camp, the team will show you your tent and then you will enjoy the evening with the bedouin.  We will have traditional Zarb dinner prepared in the bedouin way of cooking in the ground.  After dinner is time for bedouin stories and stargazing.

Day Two jeep tour

The next morning you will have your breakfast in the camp. Then head out with your guide.  The first stop will be at the beginning of the Um Muqur canyon. At this spot there is a large dune to enjoy. Then you will head to Wadi Noughra to see a scenic panorama of dunes. 

Wadi Sabat is your next place to explore. Two hundred years ago the bedouin here had camel races and celebrations in the huge valley.  In the old days this was used as a storage area by the bedouin to preserve food for themselves and their animals from one season to the next. The entire area is quite stunning.  Your guide will choose a good spot for your lunch break.

After lunch

You will then head to visit the Um Ghada area to walk the canyon.  Your guide will then drive you to see the two small arches, one which is up high and the other is lower.  Depending on the time you may also be able to go to see the cistern where the bedouin store water.

After the tour you will be driven back to the village and should arrive around 4:00pm.

Note: A second night overstay can be added to the jeep tours if you would like to enjoy more time in the desert.

If coming from Aqaba or Petra this usually works well. • In the summer when days are longer, the tour could begin at 10:00am if you have chosen the private tour option. • Multi-day tours end around 4pm. • We will send you a personalized booking confirmation with your timing specifics along with information on our meeting point at Rum Village Rest House. You will be met by the owner, Abdullh, so be sure not to go with others who may approach you.

1. Day Tour

This day tour in Wadi Rum is tailored for those with limited time who want to explore the highlights of this stunning desert landscape. 

• Arrival and Welcome: Receive a warm welcome at the tour office in Rum Village. You’ll be offered a warm cup of tea, introduced to your Bedouin guide, and get you prepared for your desert adventure.
• Travel to Lawrence’s Spring: Your journey begins at Lawrence’s Spring, it is said that Lawrence of Arabia washed at this spring during the Arab Revolt of 1916
• Sand Dunes and Sandboarding: Take the opportunity to ascend the captivating red sand dunes of Wadi Umm Ishrin and try your hand at sandboarding.
• Nabataean Inscriptions: Explore Khazali Canyon to witness ancient Nabataean and Thamudic inscriptions (drawings of animals and humans dating back to 300 BC!)
• Little Bridge: Enjoy the  Khor al Ajram bridge, small, easy to reach with great views.
• Lawrence’s House: Continue your adventure by visiting Lawrence’s House, another historical site associated with the legendary T.E. Lawrence.
• Abu Khashabah Canyon: Enjoy a walk through the canyon with plenty of photo opportunities. Your guide will drop you off on one side of the canyon and you’ll meet him on the other side. You’ll have a chance to sandboard at the end of the canyon! ( hiking take around 30-40 minutes )
• Lunch in the Canyon: Savor a delightful lunch surrounded by the picturesque canyon scenery.
• Um Fruth Natural Bridge: Resume your tour with a visit to Um Fruth, a remarkable natural rock bridge that you can climb. It stands at a height of 20 meters and takes approximately 10 minutes to ascend.
• Sunset Place: Conclude your day by heading to our camp, where you can capture breathtaking views of the desert landscape as the day gracefully transitions into the evening. Return to Meeting Place: After relishing the sunset, your tour concludes as you head back to the meeting point in Rum Village.

2. One Day, One Night – Jeep Tour

This tour offers the best of both worlds – a day and a night in the desert – for those with a limited amount of time but a hankering to sleep under the stars this is the perfect tour.

• Arrival and Welcome: Arriving to Wadi Rum, meeting and greeting at our office in Rum Village, drinking a cup of welcome  tea, introducing to your Bedouin guide and preparing to start the tour
•  Driving through Wadi Rum village to Lawrence’s Spring
•  Off to climb the red sand dunes of Wadi Umm Ishrin where you can try your hand at sand boarding
• Khazali Canyon and Inscriptions: Discover various Thamudic and Nabataen inscriptions, as well as ancient drawings of animals and humans dating back to 300 BC
• Little Bridge: Enjoy the Khor al Ajram bridge, which is easy to reach, and its great views
• From here we will turn to the South and visit Lawrence’s House, 
• Hiking  through Abu Khashabah Canyon, which can be passed easily in around an hour, and having delicious Bedouin lunch prepared by your Bedouin guide
• Have a chance to view the amazing naturally formed rock bridge Um Frouth, climb it in around ten minutes and reach a height of 20m
• Visit the High Point where you will get an ample view of the gorgeous landscape and the line between the red and white desert
• Visit the popular rock formation known as the chicken rock. It is called like this because of its unusual shape that looks like a chicken
• Heading back to the site of our camp where you will relax on our sunset viewing platform elevated above the desert floor with a cup of tea. Followed by a traditional Bedouin style dinner in our sitting tent. After enjoying your dinner you can spend some time stargazing or relaxing around the bonfire in the tent
•   Next day :   Breakfast will be served at 7 am in the camp and when you are ready we will transport you back to Rum Village 

3. One Day, Two Nights – Jeep Tour

The perfect tour for those who have a full day to spare want to spend two nights in the desert.

• Arrival and Welcome : Upon arriving at Wadi Rum in the evening, you will be greeted at our office in Rum Village. You will be hosted with a cup of tea, and then we will drive you to our camp in the desert.
• Sunset Viewing : Upon reaching the camp, you will have the opportunity to relax on our sunset viewing platform, elevated above the desert floor, while enjoying a cup of tea. After the sun sets, we will retire to our sitting tent, where a traditional Bedouin-style dinner has been prepared.
• Evening Activities : After enjoying your dinner with some hot Bedouin tea, you may want to spend some time stargazing or just relaxing around the bonfire in the tent. 
• Breakfast : Breakfast will be served at 7 am in the camp, and when you are ready, we will continue with your tour.
• Chicken Rock : This morning, you will visit a popular rock formation known as the Chicken Rock, which has a very unusual shape that many visitors claim looks like a chicken.
• Scenic Viewpoint : Next, we will visit a high point from where you will get an ample view of the gorgeous landscape, observing the striking boundary between the white and red desert.
• Um Frouth Natural Rock Bridge : Our next destination is Um Frouth, a natural rock bridge that takes around ten minutes to climb and stands at a height of 20 meters.
• Abu Khashaba Canyon : From there, we will continue to Abu Khashaba Canyon, a beautiful canyon that can be easily walked through in around 30-40 minutes. The surroundings provide wonderful photo opportunities framed by dramatic rock formations, with particularly dramatic views at sunrise and sunset when the rocks take on an orange glow. Your guide will drop you off on one side of the canyon, and you will meet him on the opposite side.
• Lawrence’s House : Continuing to the South, we will visit Lawrence’s House. While it’s uncertain if this was actually the home of Lawrence, there are stories that he both stayed and/or stored weapons here. However, the current structure is built upon the remains of a Nabataean building, making it another beautiful spot in the desert.
• Small Rock Bridge : Almost immediately across from Lawrence’s House, you will find the Small Rock Bridge, a natural rock bridge that takes a few minutes to climb and provides a panorama view over the desert.
• Wadi Umm Ishrin Red Dune : From here, we will head East and take time to visit the large red dune of Wadi Umm Ishrin. Although it requires some effort to climb, it’s great fun to run or sandboard down.
• Khazali Canyon and Inscriptions : Almost immediately across from the dune are the Khazali Canyon and Inscriptions. This mountain has various Thamudic and Nabataean inscriptions, as well as ancient drawings of animals and humans dating to 300 BC!
• Sunset at the Camp : We will then head back to the site of our camp to enjoy the spectacular sunset.
• Evening Activities and Dinner : After sunset, you will enjoy a traditional dinner, Bedouin tea, and have the opportunity to relax around the campfire with locals.
• Sunrise Viewing : In the morning, you can witness the sunrise from the camp.
• Breakfast : Breakfast will be ready soon after sunrise.
• Return to Rum Village : After breakfast, you will embark on your journey back to Rum Village, the meeting place for the tour. 

4. Two Days, Two Nights – Jeep Tour

Memories Aicha Luxury Camp has a stunning location, within the heart of the Mars-like landscape of Wadi Rum. Situated just a ten-minute drive from the visitors’ center, the camp has a cozy and authentic atmosphere and a range of luxury tents.

Blending luxury and the rugged beauty of the Martian-like landscape, the camp exudes Bedouin-inspired elegance and style, with luxurious dome-style and canvas tents. The tents all boast modern amenities including air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and en suite facilities. The transparent roofs in the dome-style tents allows stargazing at night, while some of the other tents have private terraces to enjoy the daytime views.

Communal facilities include shared dining areas in traditional Bedouin tents, as well as a cozy lounge and campfire. There is a bar/shisha area located towards the back of the camp in a hollowed-out rock which is a particularly atmospheric place to spend your evening. The camp also has a small shop where you can buy scarves, souvenirs, and Bedouin clothing.

Activities on offer at the camp range from thrilling jeep safaris and camel rides to guided hikes and unparalleled stargazing. As with most of the camps in Wadi Rum, no alcohol is served, however the camp is happy to accommodate should you chose to bring your own.

We highly recommend Memories Aicha as a wonderful camp in the wilderness of Wadi Rum. It offers a range of activities, an authentic atmosphere, and unique dome-style tents for fantastic stargazing opportunities.

The tents at Memories Aicha Luxury Camp in Wadi Rum are a blend of comfort and adventure. These luxurious domes offer guests a unique desert experience and have plush furnishings and traditional Arabian color schemes. There are several room types ranging from domes with transparent roofs allowing you to stargaze at night, as well as more expansive tents which include a living area and private terrace. Each dome features modern amenities, including air conditioning, private bathrooms, and running water. Some of the tents look out towards the mountains, whereas others have private sun terraces and look out across the Mars-like desert.

Memories Aicha Luxury Camp is located in Wadi Rum, just ten minutes away from the visitor center. Nestled in the heart of the spectacular red valley, the camp offers a unique experience that feels more like a Mars colony than a traditional camping site. 2-Hour Jeep Tour

In this short private jeep tour you will have the chance to visit The Nabatean Temple, Lawrence’s spring, Khazali’s Dune, and Khazali Canyon. Also, you will taste the Bedouin tea in the middle of the desert and learn about the history of the area and the local Bedouin culture. You can add to this tour Bedouin-style meal, a short camel ride and/or overnight.
