Let the games begin!

The Guardian Games , one of the solar system's great traditions, has returned in Destiny 2 .

This competition pits Hunters, Titan, and Warlocks against each other to see which group can deposit the most medallions, and stake their claim as this year's top class in Destiny 2 . There are unique weapons and cosmetics to earn, plus a special Title.

This is a limited time event, running from Tuesday 2nd May to Tuesday 23rd May , so anyone wanting to participate had best get started sooner rather than later.

Generally, any special event in Destiny 2 begins with a visit to Eva Levante in the Tower, and the Guardian Games are no exception. She will be in the middle of the main courtyard area, near the large carpeted stairs.

  • Claim your first Event Challenge, which can be accessed in your Quest tab.

The second option is to purchase and complete Contender and Platinum cards from Eva Levante. These function like bounties, offering random objectives from specific activity types. Completing the objective and cashing in the card will award either a Gold (for Contender Cards) or Platinum (for Platinum Cards) medallion.

There are two special quest lines available during the Guardian Games; one is focused on Guardian Games themed Vanguard activities, the other on Supremacy matches. These are given during your visits to Zavala and Lord Shaxx as part of the Best in Class quest. Both of these quests are time gated, only a portion of each can be completed at first, with more steps unlocked each week during the Guardian Games.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023 Guide: Medallions, Armor, New Scout Rifle, And Exotic

Here's everything you need to know about how Guardian Games works and how to earn gold and platinum medallions.

By Chris Pereira on May 3, 2023 at 12:56PM PDT

The annual Destiny 2 Guardian Games event has returned for 2023, and it comes with some adjustments, new rewards to earn, and an event card. As always, this is a class-based event that pits Titans vs. Warlocks vs. Hunters for bragging rights over the next year. Here's the full rundown on what you need to know about earning medallions, scoring in Supremacy mode, and obtaining the new scout rifle, Exotic sparrow, and Heir Apparent catalyst.

How to start Guardian Games

To get underway, visit the Tower and speak with Eva Levante. The Tower has been adorned with a bunch of vaguely Olympics-y decorations, and Eva will be the key vendor throughout the event.

Eva will give you a new Guardian Games class item, and you should keep it equipped during the event. Completing activities with this class item equipped will earn you medallions, which is the currency used to push your class toward victory and earn yourself rewards. You should also note that the class item is required to make progress on certain bounties offered by Eva.

The new Guardian Games armor and Strand scout rifle

Eva will eventually have you speak with Zavala and Shaxx to round out the breadth of the event, but you'll want to make sure you buy your first Card from Eva. This will unlock the ability to purchase Guardian Games bounties and get you started on the core of the event.

Your first real task is an event challenge to earn a medallion and then redeem it at the kiosk at the Tower. You can jump into a quick Crucible match or whatever activity you wish. Once that's done, head back to the Tower and visit the podium behind Eva. Visit the corresponding node for your class to bank any medallions you've earned to complete this quest step and contribute to your class's progress--all players of the same class will be contributing to the cause during the event.

This first event challenge should earn you some rewards (more on those below) and unlock access to the other 16 event challenges.

How to earn gold and platinum medallions

Completing activities.

As noted above, you'll earn medallions regardless of the activity you're playing, so long as you're wearing your Guardian Games class item. But while you'll primarily earn bronze medallions through standard activity completions, there are a few other ways to obtain higher rarity medallions as well.

Contender/Platinum Cards

The primary method of obtaining gold and platinum medallions is through the Contender Cards (1,000 Glimmer) and Platinum Cards (1,500 Glimmer) that Eva sells. These grant you a random objective tied to the specific variety of Card you buy--a Crucible one might ask you to earn Void or Solar blows in the Crucible, for instance. These Cards can be repeatedly purchased, but the catch is that you can only hold one PvE one and one that covers Crucible and Gambit at a time, meaning you can't stack these. For the most part, these Cards cover distinct activities, anyway; you wouldn't be able to work on Lost Sector objectives while doing a raid, for instance. We have a separate guide covering how to quickly earn platinum medallions .

Contender Cards grant a gold medallion upon completion, while Platinum Cards reward platinum medallions. You can stack bounties from Eva and other vendors, but those will only reward a mixture of XP and Bright Dust, rather than anything that specifically advances your progress in Guardian Games.

Event challenges

Event challenges provide another route to medallions, though only a limited number of them.

Event challenges with gold medallion rewards:

  • Bronze - Bank medallions; higher-ranked ones grant more progress
  • Silver - Bank medallions; higher-ranked ones grant more progress
  • In The Cards - Complete 15 Contender and Platinum Cards from Eva
  • Pull Some Strings - Defeat targets or assist teammates with Strand damage and abilities
  • Friendly Rivalry - Complete Crucible, Gambit, or Supremacy matches
  • Cloudrunning - Complete activities on Neptune

Event challenges with platinum medallion rewards:

  • Good Games - Defeat targets in Supremacy matches or Guardian Games playlists
  • Up For The Challenge - Complete Guardians Games Ops Nightfalls
  • Crest Collector - Earn points in Supremacy by collecting crests from defeated opponents

Scoring torches

As an extra incentive, you can work through the Vying for Supremacy quest. This involves earning score in Guardian Games activities, beginning with Supremacy matches, to reach certain thresholds--starting at bronze and working upwards. By completing these steps, you can light the scoring torches at the Tower, which will earn you rewards and glows, helping you to stand out in the crowd and showcase your contributions to your class.

As in the past, the event card is an optional aspect of this seasonal event. Everyone receives the event card and can work on the associated event challenges and triumphs, the latter of which can unlock the new Champ title (as well as the Reveler title, which involves completing all 16 challenges from the four seasonal events).

But you can also opt to upgrade your event card for 1,000 Silver, which immediately grants you three rewards: the Championship Dance emote, Barnstormer sparrow, and Coronal Bloom shader. Beyond that, you can then use the event tickets you earn from completing event challenges to unlock other rewards: the Gridiron Shell ghost shell, Darts emote, Colorful Motes Effects transmat effect, and Medal Collector Projection. All of these items available as part of the event card are cosmetic-only in nature. If you're unsure how much progress you'll make, you can wait to upgrade the event card until later in the event.

Rewards: New scout rifle, armor, Exotic, and more

Separately from the event card, you can earn a number of rewards by just playing. There are the various rewards tied to each event challenge, as outlined above, and two weapons available as part of Guardian Games.

The first is the returning Void submachine gun The Title . Although it isn't a new weapon, it does have new perk possibilities, the most noteworthy of which is Repulsor Brace.

Taraxippos

The other weapon is a brand-new one: Taraxippos . This is Destiny 2's first Strand scout rifle and is housed in the kinetic weapon slot.

Both guns have an optional fifth-column origin trait choice that includes a new option, Classy Contender. This causes kills with the weapon to grant class ability energy. You should receive both guns shortly into beginning the Guardian Games activities, but you'll want to keep grinding away in order to obtain your ideal perk rolls.

As part of Guardian Games, there is a new Exotic sparrow to earn called Luminous Paragon. This is obtained by completing the Platinum event challenge, which involves banking a significant number of medallions at the podium during the course of the event.

Cashing in enough medallions will earn you the Competitive Catalyst quest. This will set you on the path to unlocking the Heir Apparent catalyst, which can only be obtained during Guardian Games, in case you missed it during previous years.

Also new is a set of armor ornaments for each class. These can be purchased outright from the Eververse store for 1,500 Silver, as can the equivalent Guardian Games ornament sets from 2021 and 2022. Alternatively, each of these three sets per class can be purchased for 6,000 Bright Dust--a hefty sum, but a nice way to obtain these cosmetics with currency earned by playing the game.

2023's new Guardian Games armor ornaments for Hunters, Titans, and Warlocks

Finally, there are some other rewards you can earn from challenges located in the Director. Completing five matches of Supremacy in a given week will earn you a Pinnacle drop, with progress doubled if you join via the Supremacy playlist. (Your standard weekly "play three Crucible matches" Pinnacle challenge is also advanced through these matches.) Additionally, you can earn a Powerful Tier 1 reward by redeeming 25 medallions at the podium each week.

Supremacy is a new game mode in Destiny 2 that returns from the original Destiny. Those who have played Call of Duty's Kill Confirmed or its many imitators will be right at home here. This is a team-based, deathmatch-style mode in which points are only scored by collecting an item dropped by slain enemies . Enemies can be denied those points by collecting the items dropped by your fallen teammates, making it essential to not just kill and avoid dying, but make tactical decisions on how and when to collect these crests.

Guardian Games 2022 Best in Class quest - Destiny 2

A walkthrough and detailed breakdown of the Guardian Games 2022 quest in Destiny 2.

Bill Lavoy

Guardian Games 2022 has kicked off and players now have the new Best in Class quest to complete. It’s a short introduction to get players started with this year’s event, so let’s dive in and see what’s happening.

Guardian Games 2022 Best in Class quest

visit the podium quest destiny 2

The Guardian Games 2022 quest is intended to introduce players to the event. It’s a short tutorial that will serve to inform you of how things work through the duration of the event. Below is a walkthrough of the Best in Class quest itself so that you can get started on being a productive representative of your chosen class.

Step 1: Contender Card purchased

Guardian Games Quest Step 1

Purchase a Contender Card from Eva Levante. These are found at the top of her inventory screen and reflect the various activities you can participate in while playing Destiny 2. You can only purchase one of the first five Contender Cards as Eva Levante only gave you 100 Laurels to work with. Whatever you choose, you’ll need to hop into that activity.

  • Vanguard Playlists
  • Seasonal Content
  • Throne World

Step 2: Medallions and Laurels earned

Guardian Games Quest Step 2

Hop into the activity that matches the Contender Card you purchased from Eva Levante. Make sure you’re wearing the Class Item that you picked up from her, as you must have this on to earn Laurels in Destiny 2 . Once you’re set, go about completing the random objectives given depending on the Contender Card you have.

Step 3: Speak with Eva Levante

Guardian Games Quest Step 3

Head back to the Tower and speak with Eva Levante. She will give you the Medallion Case that you’ll keep in your quest log until the end date of Guardian Games 2022 .

Step 4: Medallion deposited

Guardian Games Quest Step 4

Head up the podium in the Tower and deposit the Medallion you earned completing the Contender Card in the second step of the Best in Class quest.

Step 5: Speak with Eva Levante

Guardian Games Quest Step 5

Head back to the base of the podium to speak with Eva Levante once again. She’s going to direct you to speak with Commander Zavala.

Step 6: Speak with Commander Zavala

Guardian Games Quest Step 6

Head over to speak with Zavala, who will give you the next step of your quest.

Step 7: Vanguard Medal & Recreational playlist

Guardian Games Quest Step 7

If you bring up your Director for the Tower, you’ll see the Recreational playlist. Make sure your Class Item from Eva Levante is still equipped, then head in. You will need to complete feats in combat and finish the activity. If you’re not sure what Vanguard Medals are up for grabs, check your Triumphs, Season of the Risen, Guardian Games, and Vanguard Medals. There’s a lot, and you’re likely to complete multiple just by playing in the Recreational playlist.

Step 8: Speak with Commander Zavala

Guardian Games Quest Step 8

Head back to the Tower and speak with Zavala again. He will now give you access to the Training playlist, which is also found by bringing up the Director within the Tower. This is a 1550 Power playlist, whereas the Recreational playlist is 1350. It’s harder, but it allows you to earn higher scores.

Step 9: Speak with Eva Levante

Guardian Games Quest Step 9

The final step is to check in with Eva Levante one more time. Once you do this she’ll give you The Title, a Legendary Void Submachine Gun for your Energy slot.

Now that you’ve completed the Best in Class quest for the Guardian Games 2022, you can check out the rest of our Destiny 2 strategy guide for help with every other aspect of the game.

Hello, Meet Lola

Can’t complete or abandon Destiny 2 Closing Ceremony quest fix

There is a way to fix not being able to complete the Destiny 2 Closing Ceremony bug.

' src=

Just as you’re about to put an ending to the Guardian Games 2023, you may experience problems with the Destin y 2 Closing Ceremony quest and are looking for a fix. You’re going to want to fix this issue fast with the Season of the Deep just around the corner and you don’t want this to be stuck on your quest log. Use this guide to fix your issue with being unable to complete or abandon Destiny 2 Closing Ceremony.

How to fix Destiny 2 Closing Ceremony bug?

To complete the Destiny 2 Closing Ceremony quest, make sure that you are standing on the insignia on the podium in the Tower Courtyard that is reflecting the class of your Guardian. The reason why the quest can’t be completed is because your Guardian is standing on the wrong insignia on the ground.

You might be misled to stand at the center of the podium because of the quest marker. This won’t complete the Closing Ceremony quest for the Guardian Games because you’re in the wrong class for it. Once the fireworks are triggered, you know that the Closing Ceremony quest is complete.

We also have a full Destiny 2 Closing Ceremony quest walkthrough if you need help finishing this quest. It won’t last forever and with the Season of the Deep just around at the end of the weekend, you should finish it as soon as you’re able to.

That’s the fix for not being able to complete or abandon Destiny 2 Closing Ceremony quest.

How to Complete the Destiny 2 Best in Class Quest and Claim Taraxippos

Let the Guardian Games begin.

visit the podium quest destiny 2

The Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023 event is live, and with it comes the ability to earn the new Taraxippos Scout Rifle. This legendary lightweight frame Strand Scout Rifle has fantastic handling and is relatively easy to control. It can roll with a wide variety of interesting perk combos with one of the best being Fourth Times a Charm and Explosive Payload. In order to g et your hands on this weapon , you must complete the Top of Class quest, which is available right now from Eva Lavante at the Tower. It’s not an overly complex quest, but it does require you to complete a handful of objectives that might cause some confusion. Here, we’ll go through a step-by-step guide for completing the Top of Class quest to earn the Taraxippos Scout Rifle in Destiny 2 .

Initiate Top of Class Quest

To initiate the questline, speak with Eva Levante in the Tower. Once you do, she’ll give you a piece of armor (specifically a class item), along with the quest.

Step 1: Equip a Card

Destiny 2 Best in Class

After triggering the quest, you’ll need to pick a card offered by Eva.

After that, the quest will begin and the first step is to use the Glimmer given by Eva to pick up a Contender or Platinum card. She has several cards on offer, so pick whichever one you like depending on your preferred activities.

Make sure you equip the Guardian Games class item, as well.

Step 2: Earn a Gold Medallion

Next, you need to complete an activity with the aforementioned class item equipped to earn a Medallion. Either complete a Supremacy match or Guardian Games playlist activity to do so.

Step 3: Speak with Eva Levante

After you’ve earned the Medallion, head back to the Tower to speak with Eva again. She’ll also give you some Medallion Case quests.

Step 4: Deposit the Medallion

Destiny 2 Best in Class

After earning a Medallion, you’ll have to deposit it at the Guardian Games podium.

From here, head to the Guardian Games podium in the Tower Courtyard to deposit the Medallion you just earned. Make sure you select the proper slot tied to which of the three classes your want to support: Titans, Warlocks, or Hunters.

Step 5: Claim Your First Event Challenge

Head to the Quest tab screen and select the Guardian Games event challenge . Make sure you collect your reward, the SMG The Title, as well. Doing so will trigger the next part of the questline.

Step 6: Speak with Commander Zavala

Next, you’ll want to head over to Commander Zavala in the Tower Courtyard. Zavala will give you access to the Shoot to Score quest, as well.

Step 7: Speak with Shaxx

Destiny 2 Best in Class

Have a chat with Lord Shaxx to complete this part of the quest.

Once you’ve spoken with Zavala, you’ll then need to talk with Lord Shaxx, the PVP Crucible vendor in the Tower. He’ll give you the Vying for Supremacy quest.

Step 8: Speak with Eva Levante

For the final step, return to Eva Levante one last time and speak with her to receive one copy of Taraxippos with random rolls. After you’ve done that, you’ll be able to proceed with the “Top of Class” questline. Along the way, completing various milestones and participating in the Guardian Games playlists offer an opportunity to earn randomized Taraxippos rolls.

Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2022: How to Complete Medallion Battalion

Image of John Schutt

If you’re looking to put yourself literally above the non-Medallion havers in the Tower, you need to complete the Medallion Battalion quest during Destiny 2 ’s Guardian Games 2022 . Doing so is something of a grind, but it doesn’t compare to some of the worst the game’s seen in its five years online.

Depending on how hard you push, you can complete this quest in several hours, but there’s no reason to rush it, as you have the entire week to reach its final level. However, the sooner you do it, the sooner you get to show off the Platinum armor glow on your left shoulder and stand on the Platinum podium in the Tower.

How to Complete Medallion Battalion During Guardian Games 2022 in Destiny 2

Medallion Battalion is, at its core, a points game. You need to accrue 240 total Medallion points across the four primary steps to reach Platinum . If you follow our guide on how to earn Medallions , you shouldn’t have too much trouble.

Each Medallion type has a point value associated with it, though there seems to be some slight randomization to their value. The value presented below might also be fractional, so you won’t always get the exact amount listed, but more or less depending on what you’ve deposited previously.

  • Bronze ~1 point.
  • Silver ~2 Points.
  • Gold ~3 Points.
  • Platinum ~5 points.

Steps 1-4: Deposit Enough Medallions to Reach the Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum Torches

Even if you fill your Medallion Case completely, you won’t be completing even the Bronze tier. I had to deposit around 40 or so Medallions to get past the first tier . I was depositing across the rarities, so I wasn’t farming optimally. If you’re only depositing Platinum and Silver, you’ll need far fewer deposits to level up.

Once you reach Bronze, head back to the Tower and activate the Bronze podium on the left side of the Medallion bank . Do the same for Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The reward is a little better each time, but the real treat is activating the Platinum podium. Doing so awards a +2 Pinnacle drop , so if you aren’t already 1560, finishing Medallion Battalion eerie week is well worth the time.

Step 5: Congratulations! You’ve Completed the Quest for the Week

This “step” is the ending point of the Medallion Battalion quest for the current week. You’re encouraged to continue depositing for your class and rolls on The Title SMG.

When the weekly reset arrives on Tuesday at 10:00 AM PST, the whole process will start over, with Step 1 becoming Step 6, and so on . You’ll need to reach Platinum by collecting Medallions again. Have fun! Visit our Destiny 2 guides hub for a bunch of additional coverage across the last years.

Destiny 2 Medallion Battalion is a questline that is part of the Guardian Games event. Destiny 2 has all kinds of events every year, and the Guardian Games is one where players of each class compete to show which class is on top. As with previous years, there are Laurels to gather and Medallions to deposit at the Guardian Games podium. This quest is an important part of all of that, so here is how to complete the Destiny 2 Medallion Battalion quest.

  • To learn more about the Guardian Games, check out our guide covering everything you need to know about the 2022 Destiny 2 Guardian Games .

How To Start The Destiny 2 Medallion Battalion Quest

Destiny 2 Medallion Battalion: How to begin quest

To begin this quest, you must first complete the Destiny 2 Best in Class quest. That quest serves as an introduction to the Guardian Games and will get you started on what you need to do during the event. Head to the Tower and speak with Eva Levante, then follow the steps in the guide linked above in order to complete the quest. Once done, Medallion Battalion will be added to your quests and you can begin making progress.

  • Getting all those Medallions is going to require plenty of Laurels, thankfully we have you covered in with our Destiny 2 Laurels guide.

Destiny 2 Medallion Battalion Quest Steps

Destiny 2 Medallion Battalion: Quest steps

This quest is chiefly concerned with how many Medallions you can earn and deposit in a given week. The steps for completing it are as follows:

  • Earn Medallions and deposit them at the podium to earn points for your faction. Doing so will fill up the Medallion points meter in your quest.
  • Fill the meter to unlock the Bronze Medallion Torch, receive Guardian Games Bronze Rewards, and receive a special glow on your character.
  • Continue to earn and deposit Medallions to complete the Silver, Gold, and Platinum levels of the quest.
  • Complete all levels by the end of the week to earn all rewards and light all of the Medallion Torches.
  • Repeat the process each week of the Guardian Games event.

While it is still early days, it seems clear by the length of the quest that it will continue into the next few weeks. Simply put, gather as many Medallions as you can and deposit them to progress further through the quest and get even more rewards.

That is everything you need to complete the Destiny 2 Medallion Batallion quest. For more Destiny 2 Guardian Games tips, check out our guide for the sister quest to Medallion Battalion, the Destiny 2 Shoot to Score quest.

Note : As of this writing, “Whispers of the Taken 3” is still unavailable, and will launch on April 23. I’ll update this guide once it and its Taken Blight set enter the game.

‘Whispers of the Taken 1’ Blight set locations

The Whisper of the Worm craftable gun with the Field Prep perk

Immediately after getting Whisper of the Worm from “The Whisper” mission, the game will direct you to speak to Eris, who will then give you the “Whispers of the Taken 1” quest. Completing this quest will net you the Field Prep perk for Whisper of the Worm, which you can use to replace the Mulligan perk while crafting.

The first step of the quest is to find 30 Taken Essence , which you can earn by killing any Taken enemies (look to the Dreaming City for this) while you have Whisper of the Worm equipped. Note that you don’t need to use the Exotic sniper to get the kills, but you do need to have it in your heavy slot.

Once you get all the Taken Essence, you’ll need to destroy a set of three Taken Blights hidden in the Legend difficulty version of “The Whisper.” On this advanced difficulty, you’ll only have 20 minutes to find the Taken Blights and complete the mission, so look ahead and know where you’re going before you start.

Once you’re ready, launch “The Whisper” on Legend and make sure you have Whisper of the Worm with you.

Blight 1 and 2

An image showing the first two Blights in The Whisper mission in Destiny 2

The set of Taken Blights you need to destroy for “Whispers of the Taken 1” are available very early on in the mission. All three of them are before you destroy the big Taken Blight and jump in the hole, so do not progress the mission that far or you’ll need to restart.

When you first start out in the cave on Io, walk forward and kill the Taken Thrall that appear. Walk up to the ledge and immediately look down . As long as you completed the Taken Essence part of the quest before launching “The Whisper,” you’ll see a little ball of Taken energy floating in the air (labeled #1 on the image above). Zoom in with Whisper of the Worm and shoot it.

From where you shot Taken Blight #1, look up and to the right , just under some tree branches. You’ll find the second Taken Blight for this set hovering in the air (labeled #2 in the above image). Shoot it.

An image showing the third blight in The Whisper mission in Destiny 2

Once you’ve shot the first two Taken Blights, hop over to the cavern on your left, where you’ll find a Taken Phalanx. Do not go down the hole, but walk toward it. When you can see the large Taken Blight, turn around and put your back to it . Look out ahead of you and you’ll see the small Taken Blight ball among the trees (labeled #3 in the image above). Zoom in and shoot it.

Once you destroy that Taken Blight, you’ll see the next step for “Whispers of the Taken 1” appear, which asks you to complete “The Whisper” on Legend. Do that, return to Eris, and you’ll unlock Field Prep for Whisper of the Worm.

‘Whispers of the Taken 2’ Blight locations

The Whisper of the Worm craftable gun with the No Distractions perk

After you finish “Whispers of the Taken 1” with Eris, she’ll give you “Whispers of the Taken 2,” which rewards the No Distractions perk for Whisper of the Worm. The quest objectives here are the exact same as the first one, so get some Taken kills with Whisper of the Worm equipped and get your loadout setup for “The Whisper” on Legend.

This time, however, you’ll need to find a new set of Taken Blight balls, which are much further into the mission. Look ahead so you know where you’re going.

An image showing two Taken Blights in The Whisper mission in Destiny 2

Make your way through the bulk of the jumping puzzle in “The Whisper” and into the infamous “green room,” which comes directly after jumping into the portal holes. Instead of quickly exiting the green room via the shortcut I pointed out in my guide for the mission, look straight ahead.

You’ll find the first Taken Blight floating in the middle of the room once you walk in. (It’s labeled as #1 on the image above). Once you clock it, zoom in and shoot it.

You can shoot the second Taken Blight from the same vantage point. Look up at the middle of the room and you’ll see a large crack that leads to a big, round hole. The next Taken Blight (labeled as #2 in the image above) is floating in the middle of this hole. Zoom in and shoot it.

An image showing a third Taken Blight in The Whisper mission in Destiny 2

For the third Taken Blight, walk forward to the big ball in the middle of the room and then turn around. Near the ceiling , in the direction you came from, you’ll see a Taken Blight floating in the sky (labeled #3 on the image above). Zoom in and shoot it.

Now, just like with the last quest, you’ll need to finish “The Whisper” on Legend and then talk to Eris. Once you do, she’ll award you the No Distractions perk.

Stay tuned for “Whispers of the Taken 3” next week!

Destiny 2: Wishing All The Best Quest Steps

Quick links, wishing all the best all quest steps.

The main quest line for Destiny 2 Season of the Wish takes Guardians back to the Dreaming City in an attempt to get help from an unlikely ally. Riven, the now-deceased last Ahamkara, may be the only means of chasing after the Witness, but as always, getting help from a wish-granting dragon comes at a price.

Destiny 2: Prosecutor God Rolls & How to Get Them

The delayed release of Destiny 2: The Final Shape has made Season of the Wish one of the longest seasons in the game so far. Thankfully, this means players have plenty of time to catch up with the story. If you're just hopping into the game now or are curious about how many more objectives you need to finish before reaching the finale, here's a full list of the quest steps for Wishing All The Best.

As with the vast majority of Destiny 2's other seasons, this quest line mostly involves talking to NPCs, doing a few runs of the featured seasonal activity, and completing curated missions containing exposition that drive the story forward.

Season of the Wish is slated to end on June 4, 2024, right before the launch of The Final Shape. This will be the game's final season, as Destiny 2 is slated to ditch seasons for episodes following the events of the expansion.

How to complete the Midnight Ride quest in Destiny 2

A beloved hand cannon is back

Midnight Coup hand cannon in Destiny 2

Need help completing the Midnight Ride quest to obtain the Midnight Coup hand cannon in Destiny 2 Into the Light ? We've got you covered.

Destiny's Into the Light DLC has brought back iconic weapons from the game's history, including the Midnight Coup hand cannon as part of the BRAVE arsenal.

Let's break down everything you need to know to complete the Midnight Ride quest. While you're here, check out how to complete the Climbing the Mountaintop quest as well.

The quests tab in Destiny 2

Similar to other BRAVE arsenal quests, you'll have two options to complete it, this time both are for PvE.

  • Rapidly defeat combatants using hand cannons anywhere in the system. Bonus progress for rapid final blows in Onslaught
  • Defeat combatants in raids and dungeons

The in-game quest wrongly states the quest can be completed in PvP, according to Bungie .

Both are easily doable, but let's recommend methods for both.

Best way to farm hand cannon kills in Destiny 2

Destiny 2 players often use specific hot spots to quickly gather additional enemies and finish them off swiftly.

As with our Mountaintop guide, if you don't have access to some paid content, I suggest either playing the Onslaught activity or participating in the Altars of Sorrow public event on the Moon. Both of these activities are free for all players.

Getting hand cannon kills in difficult activities can be tricky, so if you feel like you're dragging your team down in Onslaught, especially during the harder waves, then consider swapping to Altars of Sorrow to finish off the quest. Do keep in mind they need to be rapid kills, meaning you need to score multikills constantly.

If you have access to the Grasp of Avarice dungeon or The Last Wish raid, then either the opening section of Grasp or the Shuro Chi checkpoint in Last Wish should be your go-tos.

Best hand cannons in Destiny 2

There are some clear standouts to help you get this one done real fast. Things like Sunshot or Ace of Spades are two of the best hand cannons in the game to rack up fast kills, but there are other options to keep in mind if you don't have access to these exotics.

  • Ace of Spades
  • Epochal Integration

A guardian pets Archie the Exo dog in Destiny 2.

How to complete Where in the System is Archie quest in Destiny 2

Image of Nicholas Taifalos

Destiny 2 ‘s Into the Light mainly has us hunting for amazing weapons from eras long past, but if you’re getting a little tired of Onslaught, a second quest requires your attention: Finding Archie the Exo Dog .

If you remember, we rescued Archie from the Seraph Station during the Operation: Seraph Shield dungeon. He spent most of his time in the H.E.L.M., but eventually found his way to the Tower and resides in the Annex, just outside ADA-1’s Loom. However, he’s gone missing.

Here’s how to complete the timegated “Where in the System is Archie?” quest in Destiny 2 .

Completing the Where in the System is Archie? quest in Destiny 2 , a guide

Ada-1 hands you the Where in the Tower is Archie? quest in Destiny 2.

The Where in the System is Archie quest is a multi-week series of missions in Destiny 2 , starting with April 23’s reset during Into the Light . Archie sits outside the entrance to ADA-1 and the Loom in the Tower, but you may have noticed he’s gone missing with a series of paw prints left behind. Investigating them will begin the quest.

Step One: Where in the Tower is Archie?

After investigating the paw prints, you’ll be led to ADA-1 where she mentions Archie “seemed very interested in noodles.” The quest hint also gives more away as to his location: “Archie heard something called ‘ramen’ and had to know what all the buzz was about.”

visit the podium quest destiny 2

Head upstairs to the Tower’s bazaar and turn left. Close to the staircase is the small ramen shop with a photo of Cayde-6 on the wall. Behind the counter is another series of paw prints. It seems Archie had his fill and continued exploring. Inspect the prints and you’ll be given the next hint: “Archie wanted to go pay his respects to a famous gunslinger.”

That gunslinger? The late Hunter Vanguard Cayde-6, of course. From the ramen shop, head left and towards the courtyard (or fast travel), then move to the Ironwood Tree and the memorial behind it . You guessed it: Another set of paw prints.

“Archie took off past the security checkpoint to salute a feathered friend.” Man, this dog moves fast. From here, head down to the hangar where Saint-14 resides. Just as you enter the hangar, turn slightly right, toward where Cayde and Amanda used to stand next to the ships. Cayde’s chicken, the Colonel , will be flapping around on the spot next to another set of paw prints.

visit the podium quest destiny 2

Inspecting these gives you one final location: “Archie’s last stop. He wandered into an open air duct in the hangar and might’ve gotten a little lost. A friendly security frame is keeping an eye on him.”

Turn to your right and you’ll see a staircase leading up to scaffolding and platforms above. Follow the scaffolding pathways to the top of the Future War Cult building where you may notice a series of circular vents above the initial entrance to the hangar . Make your way to these vents, then push through and turn right to find a Daito screen and boardroom. Turn around, and a doorway will lead to another smaller vent.

visit the podium quest destiny 2

Drop down into the vent, walk forward, then jump up to find yourself in the security checkpoint close to the tower —and Archie sitting in front of you. Be sure to “Offer Pawsitive Reinforcement” to Archie, and the main part of the Tower quest will be complete.

Head back to ADA-1 to pick up your rewards which include 10 Trophy of Bravery (to unlock BRAVE weapons at Lord Shaxx ), a cool Archie-themed shader , and a Bungie reward code for a plushie of Archie .

Dataminers have discovered Archie will explore other destinations across the system in later days or weeks during Into the Light , so check back regularly for the next step in the quest!

Destiny 2 The Mountaintop

Fastest way to complete the Climbing the Mountaintop quest in Destiny 2: Into the Light

Image of Alejandro Josan

It doesn’t have to be a very steep incline. Here is the fastest way to complete the Climbing the Mountaintop quest in Destiny 2: Into the Light.

Destiny 2: Fastest way to complete the Climbing the Mountaintop quest

Week 2 of Into the Light is live now in Destiny 2, meaning that there are now new open blue shield doors in the Hall of Champions, but most importantly, new Brave weapon quests. One of those new weapons is The Mountaintop, a Breech-Loaded Grenade Launcher originally from the Forsaken DLC. You can identify this specific type of Grenade Launcher by its use of Special Ammo , and to beat its specific quest, you will need to complete one of the following objectives :

  • Rapidly defeat combatants using Breech-Loaded Grenade Launchers anywhere in the system. Bonus progress for rapid final blows in Onslaught.
  • Defeat Guardians using Grenade Launchers.

Destiny 2 Climbing The Mountaintop

Let’s get this out of the way, out of the two new quests, progressing the Climbing the Mountaintop will be considerably slower. For that same reason, I strongly recommend that you focus on playing Onslaught given the bonus progression and enemy potential enemy density. However, there are some ways you can further optimize it by doing a simple thing: picking the right map.

Play Onslaught in Mothyards

While playing in Midtown would be the logical choice given its close-quartered nature, allowing your Grenade Launcher shots to do a considerable amount of damage, what Mothyards possesses in its favor makes it the perfect location to spam your Grenades and collect The Mountaintop: verticality and openness .

Destiny 2 Mothyards

Yes, these same reasons are what makes it the best map to play Onslaught in and hopefully get to the 50-Wave mark, but why would it make sense for AoE damage? Well, thanks to your ability to gain high vantage points and obvious cues on where the enemies will spawn – you see the giant ships arriving on the map – you can easily pinpoint specific locations on where to shoot your Breech-Loaded Grenade Launchers. And given the Tower Defense nature of Onslaught in which enemies traverse through a pre-determined path, you can easily spam your shots to continuously deliver damage , amassing kills.

I used the Witherhoard Exotic Grenade Launcher – which is arguably one of the best Exotics in the game – to deal Blight damage to all incoming mobs. You can, however, use other Breech-Loaded Grenades Launchers like the Forbearance, Harsh Language, or Ignition Code and they will work just as well. Remember: predict enemy paths and continue spamming those Grenades!

Should you fight or submit to root in Remnant 2

What are breech-loaded grenade launchers in Destiny 2?

Grab this weapon to complete the new quest for The Mountaintop.

Destiny 2 breech-loaded grenade launcher - Dead Messenger

If you're looking for a breech-loaded grenade launcher in Destiny 2 , it's pretty likely that you're trying to complete the newly added Climbing the Mountaintop quest to get The Mountaintop grenade launcher. In the quest you need to rapidly defeat a whole lot of enemies with breech-loaded grenade launchers—bonus progress in Onslaught—or bring one into PvP to kill guardians.

For those who are new to Destiny 2, or just haven't ever really paid attention to weapon types, you might be scratching your head pondering when such a complicated sounding gun was added to the game. Don't worry; unless you have literally just started, chances are you already have a breech-loaded grenade launcher, and even if you don't, it's easy enough to get a decent one.

What is a breech-loaded grenade launcher?

There are two types of grenade launchers in Destiny 2: power grenade launchers and breech-loaded grenade launchers. While the first type goes in your heavy slot and uses heavy ammo, breech-loaded grenade launchers go in one of your first two weapon slots and use special ammo instead.

If you're a new player who doesn't have one yet, the easiest to grab is Empty Vessel through Zavala's Focused Decoding. Of course, if you're trying to get those rapid final blows for The Mountaintop quest, you'll want something with more of an AoE or a wave frame breech-loaded grenade launcher so it's easier to get lots of kills at once.

You can grab Witherhoard from the Monument to Lost Lights in The Tower in the Shadowkeep section, provided you have an Exotic Cipher and an Ascendant Shard—this is what I used to complete the quest and it was real speedy. If you happen to already have Fighting Lion , this is another good option for completing this quest since it's the only primary breech-loaded grenade launcher, and so has unlimited ammo.

If you're lacking the materials to get Witherhoard, your best option is to complete the Vox Obscura exotic mission , which is active in the Legends tab this week. This will get you a craftable Dead Messenger ; a very good exotic breech-loaded grenade launcher that you can try out in PvP, or bring into Onslaught to complete the quest either way.
